Really disappointing that the responses to Lil Nas X having a mental health crisis that actually take it seriously are advocating for him to be forced into treatment. Firstly nothing in the articles I've read even slightly suggests an overdose, I'd wager the cops injured him and this is simply how they're trying to launder it, but also "taking it seriously" doesn't mean we should all agree that he's a crazy person who should be forced onto medication, institutionalised, put on a fucking conservatorship or whatever the fuck else people are saying jfc. It actually would have been far better if the person filming him got him home safely rather than involving the cops, how are we still having this conversation?

i guess this post is needed, so: hi, stop tokenising māori who say that the clones are or aren't māori. i stg half the time you're taking us out of context anyway and we're making a different point. i can see both sides here as a māori but most people see them as not māori for all the wrong reasons tbh. i'm going to be suspicious of people loudly proclaiming the clones aren't māori unless they themselves are māori out of a healthy amount of cautiousness as a person of colour.

temuera morrison channelled māoritanga into boba fett, on purpose. i see him as māori. morrison was trained in traditional māori martial arts and uses it in-universe, he has stated one of his goals is to incorporate wairua māori into his roles, and has been trained in haka and pulls pūkana (the “"scary face”“ in a haka) while in combat.

i know less about this but as far as i understand, karen traviss also based a lot of mandalorian culture off of te ao māori and incorporates haka into her republic commando series.

at the same time, the clones are a force for imperialism. they're obedient soldiers, servants to their cause. i've spoken to (and received tags from) māori who are uncomfortable with this portrayal of our race and will say such. if a māori is uncomfortable with rep showing us in this light, power to them!

the issue comes when people who aren't māori tokenise māori who don't enjoy the rep, lmfao. plenty of people saw my post asking people not to put tā moko on clone ocs (or ocs in general) if you are not māori and jumped to the conclusion, quite happily and mockingly, that the clones aren't māori, that the people who consider them māori are "white ass sjws", and that seeing the clones as māori is entirely a movement where no other māori are involved. like, my post had nothing to do with that! māori clone ocs are fine! it's very weird for you to jump for joy when you find "confirmation" or "validation" in your head that your faves couldn't possibly be brown like some of these people are doing. like, they found a single māori they could misinterpret and sprinted an entire olympic race with it!

one māori on the internet saying something unrelated to your point isn't enough to claim you were right all along about those stupid horis- i mean, white sjws, just claiming some made up nonsense about "clones" being "not white" when the literal media contains references, overt and covert, to māori people and culture. like headcanon what you want (why is it a bad thing for the clones to be brown, though...) but ignoring the source media and intent behind it to jump people for making their clone oc/headcanoning the mandalorian as māori is not the damn move.

it's actually kind of crazy that everyone is sorted into 2 arbitrary categories at birth that supposedly predicts every single one of ur interests, skills, and personality traits throughout the next 80-90 years. and if, at any point in your life, you decide you don't really like this chosen-for-you persona, and you feel bad about being forced to act like it anyway, this is actually a diagnosable mental disorder in the DSM and half the country kinda wants you to die for "having" it. like personally I don't think there's anything mysteriously wrong with a trans kid's brain just because some doctor wasn't able to fortune tell that kid's life by reading the shape of their junk like tea leaves. you know?
