Lyra wasn’t one to sit around and people watch but sometimes it seemed like that was what called to her. She felt bad about it, sure. She knew how it felt to be stared at like there was something wrong with you but sometimes she just couldn’t help it, especially when she’d just finished writing columns for the paper that week. That was where she found herself today, sitting at a little table in front of the local coffee shop. The blonde twirled her hair around her finger as she watched the couple who had spent the better part of ten minutes arguing about what was surely nothing got up and left. Lyra took a sip of her tea and leaned back in her chair, “Wow. It’s almost like some people have no idea how their negative energy effects other people.”

Did Rex necessarily want to know her future? No, she felt that whatever was going to happen was going to happen. When she saw the little sign to the shop though, her curiosity won out. Not to mention the shiny crystals in the window would look pretty set up on her windowsill in her room. Stepping into the building she was startled when she heard someone call out to her. “Um, can you tell me more about those crystals?” The blonde pointed to the ones sitting in front of the woman, “I’m not going to be cursed if I buy one right?”
A light eyebrow raised slightly when she first heard the woman ask if she was going to be cursed. A soft laugh escaped her lips as she shook her head, "Of course you won’t be cursed! If you curse someone it comes back to you times three, you know. Plus, I run this shop to help people, not hurt people.” Lyra smiled as she picked up a few crystals, holding them up for the other to see one by one. “Sure! You see, they’re all supposed to help you with different things. This is fluorite. It’s supposed to help with focus and protection. This one is moonstone, for new beginnings. Oh! This one is one of my favorites! Tiger’s eye, it helps with confidence, courage, and good luck!” She felt her face grow hot as she realized her excitement about it might come off as...odd. But still, she smiled. “Are you looking for anything in particular?”

Turning the shirt around, Frankie squinted at it for a moment in contemplation before lowing his arm. “I’m going for just the right side of outrageous. Just enough for people to know I am outrageous, but also cute. Like a flower.” He tried very hard to keep a straight face as he said it, but even he couldn’t stop his lips from twitching up in a smile at his words.
“Thank you,” he said, leaning forward just a little on the last word with a wide smile, lifting the shirt up slightly again. “I’m trying to make florals a more year round thing, they don’t deserve to just be reserved for the hight of summer.” Lifting his other arm he showed her a light blue shirt with tiny stars and suns dotted about. “Now, is this one too boring?”
Lyra placed a hand on her hip as she brought the other hand up to tap her chin. A bright smile crossed onto her red lips as she nodded. “I can see it and appreciate that. That shirt is definitely what I’d go for if I wanted to look outrageous but cute,” she couldn’t stop herself from winking at him as she let out a quiet laugh.
“Anytime,” she leaned against the clothing rack closest to her as she nodded slowly. “I agree. Flowers in general just aren’t for summer. They all have meanings and everything too. They should be appreciated.” Lyra trailed off for a second, her green eyes getting a little wider along with her grin as she took in the sight of the new shirt he was holding up. “Now that one, is wonderful. Stars can never be boring. I should know, my mother is Urania.”

Lyra liked nothing more than to spend time in her little shop. Lyra had spent a long day writing at her desk, columns for the next few days just so she wouldn’t have to step foot into that claustrophobic building for the next few days. Spending time with her crystals and her cards were more relaxing than anything. The little bell that hung above the door rang when someone stepped in and she looked up from the crystals she was rearranging on the table. “Can I help you?”

Frankie liked clothes, he liked the wear they looked when he put them on (and how they looked when he took someone else’s off), he liked how people had their own style and he liked the feel of silk or soft wool on his skin. What Frankie didn’t like, was clothes shopping. It was a dreadful chore in his experience, made even worse when he had no one to go shopping with. Coming out of the changing room, he held a shirt up in front of the first person he saw, tiling his head to see them around the floral patterned garment.
“Do you think this suits me? Or is it too…much?”
Lyra loved shopping. Part of her knew that it would be better to save money, but she couldn’t help stopping in at least one store on her way home from work most days. That particular day, she had one headphone in and was looking for something in particular. Something textured possibly, her half-sister would probably like that a lot. Her attention was ripped away from the article of clothing she was looking at, the blonde pulled the other headphone out of her ear as she turned to see who was speaking to her.
Lyra looked the man up and down, making sure to scrutinize the shirt closely. “Depends what you’re going for. I think it’s nice but everyone has different styles, ya know? Digging the florals though.”

━━ * ✩ ❛ sophie turner ; cisfemale ; she/her ◇ i saw LYRA MACMILLAN in town yesterday, rumour has it they’re the TWENTY-TWO year old CHILD OF URANIA who is a NEWSPAPER COLUMNIST. they’ve been living here for TEN YEARS and people often say they’re really bold and generous, although if you ask me they also seem quite superstitious and aloof. they really remind me of CROWN ON THE GROUND by SLEIGH BELLS– oh, you’ve never heard that one? well, they also remind me of falling stars, the chariot tarot card, soft curled hair, summer thunderstorms, and scattered newspapers ◇ dana ; she/her ; 26 ; est ❜ . .
Lyra is a unique little bean and I love her. I hope you do too because wow what a gem she’s beauty and she’s grace she’s Miss United States
Lyra is the daughter of Urania and Craig Macmillan. Lyra grew up being educated on Greek myths, even being named after a constellation that contains one of the brightest stars in the night sky as her father’s way of paying tribute to her mother
Urania, also being the goddess of fortune telling, had a bigger influence of Lyra’s life than she expected.
When she was 5, she correctly predicted that her dad would end up marrying one of his coworkers and it was only after she correctly guessed she was going to have a little sister (she was 8) that her dad asked her to please stop telling him these things
Lyra got her first pack of tarot cards when she was 10 years old from her step-mother. she still has them but barely ever uses them due to the sentimental value.
Lyra moved to New Athens at age 12 after too many monster attacks became too much for her to want to handle the responsibility of putting her family in danger
She currently works as the writer of the astrology column for the local newspaper.
Lyra also owns a very very small store front where she does tarot card readings to make extra money because she is a strong independent woman with a v small apartment
as with puck, just hmu to discuss any connection
