"CHARLOTTE " LOTTE" REINIGER was a German silhouette artist and film maker born in Berlin-Charlottenburg, June 2, 1899.  Reiniger, when mentioned at all, is most often brushed off in a single sentence noting that she apparently made a feature-length silhouette film in 1926, The Adventures of Prince Achmed; but since that was in Germany, and silhouettes “aren’t considered cartoons”, Disney still invented the feature-length animated film with Snow White. Anyone who has seen Prince Achmed wouldn’t be convinced by this reasoning, but, alas, only a tiny fraction of the people who see Snow White ever get to see any Reiniger film at all. Few of her nearly 70 films are readily available—and almost none of them in excellent prints; when Reiniger fled Germany to England in the 1930s, she was not able to bring her original negatives with her, so most modern prints are copies of copies, which have lost much of the fine detail, especially in backgrounds. Among the great figures in animated film, Lotte Reiniger stands alone. No one else has taken a specific animation technique and made it so utterly her own. To date she has no rivals, and for all practical purposes the history of silhouette animation begins and ends with Reiniger. Taking the ancient art of shadow-plays, as perfected above all in China and Indonesia, she adapted it superbly for the cinema.” ————————————————————————- I would say Reiniger’s influence is still felt by today’s contemporary artists, most-notably, a personal favorite, Kara Walker (http://learn.walkerart.org/karawalker )

A (Sort of) Fairytale a RBB by briecheesie,      → art by daunt  (More Art 1 - 2 - 3) So this is Brie and I’s RBB from like…five months ago lol
I originally drew the middle image as a RBB prompt and Brie took the plunge and wrote a TON of amazing Fox!Stiles fic. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.  She and I are also masters of losing track of time and wound up being 5 months late so HERE is the final product. :)
Huge thanks to Brie for being amazing and putting up with my fussiness!  Please go read it when you can guys! :)

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS NEAT THING OKAY? Just to preface this, I don’t know if anyone else has posted this, so if you have, I’m sorry! I’m posting for anybody with any anxiety, stress, want to cool down from a rough day, or just need background noise to function! This is a really neat site because you have more than one noise to choose from to listen to. If rain isn’t really your thing, they have crackling fire and breaking waves, and it’s just really relaxing. And you know what’s the coolest part about each noise? You can change the levels. You can slide and switch levels around to have the perfect amount of thunder, or light rain, or crackles in your fire, or foamy sea goodness! Each noise (to my knowledge) has 10 sliders for different sounds within said noise, so you can mix and listen for as long as you need! And if you don’t feel like mixing it yourself, there’s a neat button called “Animate” which allows the noise to evolve and change itself, so it gives it a little flavor. It even has some that are specifically catering to mental health and sound therapy. But really, I encourage everyone to at least try it out, it’s just super neat and it calms me down and serves as a nice low noise in the background if I need it for sleep or working on homework.
