every decision for something is a decision against something else

as a leader of the royal family, the Queen has something about two options after all:

Wilhelm, the heir, lives an extremely unhappy life in a shadow, having the title of the King;

Wilhelm, her son, gets his life back and loses the title. obviously, his place goes to August.

maybe, she is not that stupid? she does not start a scandal about their relationship. it seems she understands Wilhelm's identity and accepts at least one little thing - he's not gonna have a child to lead the throne (in current circumstances). in addition, is there anyone who believes that Wilhelm would carry about "privilege" after she passes away? all this is kinda the end of the monarchy and her relationship with the son.

and then... August. next line for the Crown. boy with an obsession with himself; uncontrolled anger; who doesn't care about the family or public reaction and posts the video. August is the one who has started the fire. for him, only personal revenge exists. so childish?

then, would he care about the royal family as he has to, in case there is any disaster or anything?

so I believe that's why she turns angry so fast in the car. what is she supposed to do? be a mother or a monarch? she has known the truth about August's action, and she understands how terrible Wilhelm's state will become. she tries to catch the last clear and controllable thing in her life - the Crown.

she sees a better future for the country with heartbroken Wilhelm than with selfish August?

it may be used as a way to hide your lie as well: you try to put your hand over a mouth in order to block "wrong" words, but you stop this suspicious gesture unconsciously and finish up on the nose at the last minute

Simon holds his face as if Wilhelm is everything he needs right now. the feeling is mutual. they share this need. they want it more, closer, harder, physical. passion in action

well, he didn't ask Simon to come or help. he just did a very call to share his thoughts and confess the fear. time of day is pretty easy to remember, and one of such clear things has become shady by now. he is lost in the night [which is bright for some reason, yeah?]

yep, he tells the only truth above time: he likes Simon, that is not fake

he isn't waiting for Simon's coming, he didn't ask him to do this. Wilhelm is lying on the cold plastic ground without any hope of a better tomorrow. he has lost faith, gave up trying; he doesn't believe in people I suppose. everything, everyone is fake for him. it seems there is nothing more to be waiting or expecting

that's why he can't believe that Simon came. he repeats this fact multiple times in order to convince himself, prove himself wrong. stunned. surprised. hypnotized. he pulls Simon in his arms to be sure

probably he might have been wrong. there is someone real, not fake, and beautiful, someone is being there for him

an impossible task

a new challenge came to Wilhelm: a pretty boy with a charming smile asks him about a piano lesson. meanwhile, Simon cannot focus on keys if there is Wilhelm somewhere around

he is staring at Wilhelm while he is trying to teach him. lost in his thoughts, no attention to piano keys

so how is he gonna play it right, if he misses everything because of emotions and a cute crush???

the first place to come for Wilhelm when he is honest with himself is a football field. the field is far away from their party [he took a bus to come to Rosh's game earlier]. so it means he came here not by accident, he got to this place on purpose, for personal reasons

obviously, the metal shape of a human is a symbol of a person with an average grasp of Wilhelm. it's used as a placeholder for everyone around who has no idea what his life really is

Wilhelm attempts to start a conversation (or a fight?). there is no conscious answer

of course they don't. he pushes one of them away in the same manner as he had done it in the club. he gets angry because of the way everyone behaves towards him. because it's kind of disappointing to find that no one understands him, no one is interested in his personality and feelings. they're afraid of the Crown and don't even try. they want to please him by serving. only

then, he tries on this role wishing to fit in the shape of ordinary human (as whom he always wanted to be treated). and then he starts smiling so happily. right now, on the empty football field, it's a good chance to become as-everyone-else. normal. free. unknown. regular

as it was once before, with Simon and his friends on this football field

but shapes are lying on the ground. it reminds him about reality, how serious the situation has now become. his brother, the Crown, mother's expectations, new responsibilities, everything about Simon. it removes smile from his face

finally, he desperately calls to someone who can truly talk to him and who doesn't pretend to be an I-know-you person

all messing up, august

just wanted to place another view of August's case

the Queen called him to talk. she asks to get closer to Wilhelm as the brother after Erik passed away, and he is this proud of it. now, it's okay for him to interrupt a game of chess aggressively, and he can't stand calmly and hold his emotions. like a child, August takes it as a game

He says: Wilhelm needs his brother now.

and their first hug(?) scene right after the Queen's call-- he holds his forehead to Wilhelm's, and it looks unnatural and aggressive again. he does it in such a strange way. I don't think he is happy about Erik's death, of course, he isn't, but there is something... like he is excited about everything that's happening. oh sure, the Queen asked him to do a personal favor [maybe, in his dreams, it makes him closer to the head of the monarchy]

and then he shows off, has a party. somehow he loses sight of Wilhelm later. not a good example of being responsible, right?

but then, when Wilhelm is completely lost and broken and really needs a brother in his life, August has nothing to tell, nothing to advise. it was the only and only thing he had to do, literally. he is just scared about what he has done, nothing more here. so... game over, you fucked up

I mean, there is something bigger than ruining Wilhelm's life by posting the video. it could be anyone else in the school. first of all, he had to carry on Erik's role in Wilhelm's life, he had to become a big brother. and after fucking up, after not keeping the promise, the Queen protects him... #whyyyy

once he is finally left on his own in such a difficult time, Wilhelm thinks about Simon, about them being together (for some reason). but why?

Wilhelm is scared about his future and the new responsibilities/expectations that are placed on him out of the blue. he asked Simon to delete all their messages and now he removes his number from a contact list. might be he wants to control at least one thing - their relationship [by ruining it]

or must be he blames himself for happiness as if he doesn’t deserve it, as if he shouldn’t feel anything in this way. he wants to check if getting rid of Simon would turn everything back. what if he is punishing himself for a new role?

he can't breathe. upcoming memories have completely filled the room, and he is drowning

each of the accurate memories makes him more and more uncomfortable. what if he shouldn’t push Simon away? he can't stand it, his heart can't take this. he is reliving the moments. he is looking for something he has lost, not able to remove attraction to the boy with a charming smile

all he can think about is his position and passion for Simon - it’s a desire, not allowed for the Crown Prince

the first thing that's able to cough his attention in school since Erik's funeral is Simon. Wilhelm stares at him for a few long seconds and looks away after they made eye contact

he is not ashamed or anything else. he starts thinking

mother told him before, "you're going to succeed me [...] no more mistakes". and his brother said earlier, "soon enough people will start making opinions--". and... what will his life look like? what is a mistake in his mother's definition? what kind of impression does he want to give? will it be a mistaken one?

everyone expects him to be focused on the future of monarchy instead of flirting with a boy with a charming smile. it seems there is only one way out

during the whole scene, he is extremely focused [unlike August for example]. he draws attention to his brother's picture and becomes... convinced. he hasn't forgotten Erik's "enjoy yourself", but circumstances have changed and he is not this free now

Wilhelm comes to say prepared speech, but his conclusions push him to share thoughts from the inside. in the end he looks somewhere in Simon's direction, pauses for just a moment, and takes a quick deep breath before saying his closing remark

- He was my role model... And I will honor his legacy to be a Crown Prince my family will be proud of.

in his reality, just right now he must be a good son, brother, a role model - no matter what it takes from him

the first part of a funeral scene looks like we're inside of Wilhelm's head. there is no one on seats behind and he is allowed to show empathy to his brother by laying on a coffin. he is cold-calm realizing reality

and then, we could see dirt on the coffin. as a rule, the first handful of dirt is thrown by a family member, the closest one. but it's already here laying

people do this to symbolize the finality of the moment, the finality of someone's life and their presence. it's a way to show respect

the hardest part is acceptance. Wilhelm can't say farewell goodbye out loud, dirt on the casket is a visual symbol of this goodbye

Wilhelm plays with it getting involved in what's happening. he convinces himself. in his imagination, he has enough time for it

after all, we see the real funeral. lots of people, no clear emotions, and no dirt on the coffin
