obsessed with how often "kawaii" is used on chinese social media to describe people from the southern parts of china (often specifically guangdong)... slowly learning all the stereotypes

online, people from southern china are referred to as 小土豆 little potatoes. because there was a video of a guy with a southern accent holding up a potato and saying "these are southern little potatoes, they're very delicious". and so now that's used as a term of endearment for people from the south...
