The Last of Us Episode 4

I'M GNJRDKBGHRDKGNDR THIS EPISODE WAS MY SPIRIT AND SOUL. This is the content I've been absolutely DYING FOR. Just good ol' Joel and Ellie I LOVED IT SO MUCH

AND EPISODE 5 RELEASES ON FRIDAY INSTEAD OF SUNDAY THIS WEEK AND I AM SCREAMING

spoilers under the cut, do NOT look if you've not watched The Last of Us Episode 4

Ellie being so proud of herself looking in the mirror with the gun she got from Bill and Franks is just so cute tbh. I am lowkey very sad the episode was only 45 minutes long AHHHHH too short too short I NEED MORE. I loved the good quality shit between Joel and Ellie in the car, hearing more about Tommy and how things went for them prior to "today." Tommy being in the military and having that sorta hero... complex?? Is that the right word? I dunno, he just wants to help people.

Ellie pulling out her joke book while they were filling the car, great stuff and I just so loved how she casually refers back to the joke book, like at night when they settle down and she just, and Joel answers the pun correctly because he knows the joke IT'S SO CUTE??

I LOVE how they did the car crash scene, how that played out was so great, I loved seeing that. Poor Bryan but listen MY DUDE if you didn't want to die why you out here starting the fight bro? You knew the risks my dude. It sucked though, I kinda, a part of me wished Joel would have let him go but honestly that would have been a bad idea anyways cause you bet your ass Bryan would go running back home to set more guys on Joel and Ellie to kill them. Things just ain't so black and white, letting him go would have been nice but it also would have been such a huge risk on their lives. If it was Joel in Bryan's situation, I highly doubt Bryan would have let Joel go.

Can we talk about Kathleen? I've known her for five minutes and I kinda like her. Sure she wants Henry's head on a pike... And probably Joel's as well, but hey, she's got a nice attitude and listen she's running that whole place like a total boss, I like her.

I love Joel being all "you're young, you shouldn't have to do that kinda thing" and him just trying to talk to Ellie and be helpful and he straight up "I ain't good at this" gosh I just love him. I really really enjoyed watching the two of them traverse through the place together, and they have such great chemistry.

Henry and Sam have been changed up significantly, but I really like it so far. They've clearly wronged Kathleen and she wants Henry dead, so they're on the run.

The end though, Ellie bringing up that last joke, NJKGRDKGD seriously, and Joel trying so hard not to laugh BUT OF COURSE he can't hold it in and they just be laughing together and it's the greatest thing ever.

Then the episode ends with us seeing Henry holding Ellie at gunpoint and Sam pointing a gun at Joel and THEN IT JUST ENDS LIKE THIS!!

Such a fantastic episode.

Hey guys I made an update saying another thing and I’m just, my cat Nelly has absolutely sunk in her condition within the last 24 hours to the point that she just can’t go on like this for another day and I hate to even leave her in this condition until tomorrow.

We are scheduling an emergency vet appointment with her to say our goodbyes. I honestly can’t believe just how quickly she’s dropped from good to devastatingly bad, even my other cat knows it. He keeps going over to sit beside her and groom her.

So if I’m extra slow, more than usual… this is why. I’ll still be around. I’m not leaving. But if I’m not my usual happy self, this is it. I just need time to work out my emotions.

Today sucked, but you know what doesn’t suck? These pictures of Alita getting her Build a Bear birthday teddy. She turned 1 year old on December 26! She’s a service dog in training, which is why we brought her to Build a Bear (they aren’t pet friendly otherwise)

The Last of Us episode 7, the left behind DLC!

everything is fine. I'm fine. no need to worry, I am okay. I am not okay. Riley and Ellie are literally the cutest fucking thing, nobody can ever convince me otherwise, these two are the cutest and I just love THEM GNRJKDGD

Alright. The only things I am unhappy with in this episode are basic things mostly unrelated to the episode itself, but with the series as a whole. Now I speculated this was going to happen since the second I watched episode 3... they are indeed rushing through the story. They are rushing through it like crazy.

Like I said in a different post, I think it was dumb as fuck that they changed the lore and yet again, another episode goes by where that lore is not utilized at all.

The infected are treated like unimportant sideshow pieces. They often talk about how dangerous it is outside the walls of the QZ, but where is that danger? There's barely any infected. There's barely any people. A dumbass with basically no survival skills could survive out there because according to the show, there's barely any danger at all. In the game, Riley and Ellie are swarmed by infected... the show? one measly stalker... or runner that was in transition to a stalker I dunno.

The pacing is just not good. It's being really rushed. They could and should have made 10 episodes with 70-90 minute episodes per episode. This episode alone could have been expanded to 90 minutes, we could have had Ellie's trip to the mall with an unconscious Joel and more.

They had the opportunity to expand on Riley's death, the opportunity was there to show us exactly what happened. Riley turning, possibly Ellie having to shoot her and Ellie meeting Marlene and Marlene discovering that she's been bitten. But they chose not to expand on any of this, which I personally believe was a mistake and a massively missed opportunity to give Ellie that little bit of extra character development.

Also, they removed one of my favorite lines from the game! It may be stupid, but I loved it and it was really one of the highlights of the interactions between Ellie and Riley in the photobooth! I loved it when the screen said "do you want to share it on facebook?" and they say "what's a facebook? maybe it prints our faces in a book?" I just really loved that and I am sad they removed it from the show.

Now... The episode itself, fucking fantastic. Don't get me wrong, I like to share my nitpicks, my dislikes, my disappointments but that doesn't mean I hate something or dislike the entirety of it. I LOVED this episode, and I would die for Ellie and Riley. Everything about their interactions this episode was such wholesome content and I am NOT okay.

Ellie being stupid happy and excited over an ESCALATOR? Stop. I loved that so goddamn much. The little hints we get that tell us that Ellie really likes and feels for Riley? Oh my godddd!! It's just SO sweet. I just love this pair so much. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

I don't have much else to say to be honest, I really enjoyed the episode, I loved it. My issues simply lie mostly with... Like, I dunno, "in general" topics regarding the show rather than episode-specific.

Wanted to share something very personal to me because today is the anniversary of it: trigger warning for pet death.

In 2020 on February 1st I suddenly lost my cat of 15 years. She was perfectly fine on January 28th, normal and everything. Then all of a sudden January 29th at night we were calling the vet to make an appointment to say goodbye, and then February 1st she was gone. It was kidney failure.

This is basically when I started to dwindle off of tumblr. I basically grew up with her and she was a huge support of mine for my mental health, so losing her so suddenly was like… going cold turkey on a medication that’s been keeping you stable. It hit me really hard and it wasn’t long before I completely dropped off the face of tumblr and I only just came back the summer of 2022, and I’m really happy to be back on here.

I think the reason it just hit me so goddamn hard is, for obvious reasons, but also because I just don’t really have any coping mechanisms and I have nobody to talk to, we can’t afford therapy and the free “therapy” sucks literal ass and is not very readily available with their huge waitlists. So I pretty much was left to my own devices to figure out how to get through it, and honestly, I still struggle to look at photos and videos of her. I’ve mostly just learned to push away the grief like I always do with all of my problems, it's a bad habit lol I just never really "deal" with any of my issues I've kinda learned to pretend it doesn't exist and wear a happy mask every day all day, but losing her was really hard to do that with.

But I’m glad to be back on tumblr, honestly it’s never been better on here. I don’t know how but somehow I’ve managed to surround myself with pretty awesome people on here, I guess I’m lucky!

Her name was Amber, she didn’t really like anybody else besides me but to me she was literally the best companion a person could ask for. She was so attached to me she’d lay permanently in my lap 24/7 forever if she could, even at night she’d be between my legs. It’s literally become a habit to sleep with my legs apart in a specific way to give her room to sleep there lol, she was so loving and so cuddly.

Anyways, I just wanted to share something about her today with everybody! ❤️
