Meet @deesgonnloseit I’m Dee, and I’ve lost 125 pounds. Sept 2018 I decided I was fed up living life as a spectator. I’ve always been very social, but realized my quality of life had greatly declined over the last 6 years. So I decided to get serious about my health. A few months in, I lost 36lbs by changing how I ate. While that was exciting, I ended up having medical issues which put me in chronic severe pain. I was in & out of the ER, Dr’s, & regular chiropractic care. My pain was so bad that I was basically becoming bed bound. At 42 years old, & a single mom, I refused to let this be my future. So I made a choice to start walking every other day, only able to do 7 minutes at first. Long story short, I’ve lost 108lbs, working out 5-6 days a week, & am no longer in chronic pain. I not only walk, but I can jog a 5k, swim over 2000 meters, dance, lift weights, etc. I still have a long way to go, but I will continue to fight for a better future for myself so I can be the best mom I can be to my daughter. Losing weight is hard, but which hard do you want? The hard that comes with being unhealthy, or the hard that comes with getting healthy? Starting tip: make small changes & achievable goals. Add to them as you go & you’ll see those small changes lead to big results. Also, have people who are supportive of your journey (one of the reasons why I just love the @wlstories community). Meet: @shellrod31 I’m Shellie. I started my weight loss journey in 2009. I have had ups and downs with it but I am happy to say I am so far down 93lbs! My motivation is my kids, my ex and I split 9 years ago and I knew I needed to get healthy and be there for my kids and do all the fun things with them without being out of breath and being the “fat mom”. After I had my daughter 11 years ago, I started w spin classes. And then I found the love for Zumba! So I became an instructor and taught Zumba 3 days a week for 6 years. I recently last year had back surgery and also year and a half ago had foot surgery. so right now I’m just eating super clean keto/low carbs. It has been a journey but I keep plugging along. I hope my account can help motivate people to keep pushing even when you struggle. Being a single mom for the last 10 years has been tough but then to add in weight loss on top of that it is even harder. I learned taking time for yourself is not selfish, you have to take care of yourself first or you will not have anything to give someone else. Starting tip I would say is make small steps that will snowball into big steps. Eating better, cutting out pop or coffees with cream and sugars. Share your journey from day one. People will support you! Also DITCH the scale. Focus on how you feel, not a number on the scale! ________________ How has the Wlstories community influenced your journey?
