This is my brand new Avater Smau. It's a ZukoxF.!Reader pairing. Title: From Then On...

Trigger warning: Slight swear warning! Mentions of sex! If you're sensitive to these kinds of things, read at your own risk!

As a bridesmaid, Y/n meets one of the groomsmen, Zuko, at her sisters pre wedding dinner and hit it off so well, he asks her out. Y/n's sister warns her not to get  too close. She decides to follow her advice but keeping him at arms length proves more difficult than she expects...

Zuko's P.O.V.

As Naomi watched my daughter I couldn't help but to pace back and forth outside the temple, with one of my hands on my hips. I was trying to wrap my head around this whole thing. Was she really gone? No she couldnt be gone. Could she? I was also scared to lose her to my sister, but over her giving birth I never dreamed. Maybe she was too stressed. I know we both were. In which case Azula technically did kill her and I'll be planning my revenge against her.

    "Zuko..."

   "Uncle dont try to talk me out of anything because it wont work. Azula did this to her and I'm gonna make her pay"

I could hear the anger rising in my voice as I spoke.

    "I wasnt going to nephew, I was just going to say I have laid Y/n down to rest on her final resting place if you would like to say goodbye to her"

    

Once again I started to pace.

    "No....I can't say goodbye to her...I won't just...let me get back at Azula for what she did"

    "Get back at me, yeah right I'd like to see you try,"

He mocking tone sent fire coursing through my spine and I didnt even notice how I had made fire daggers appear in my hands.

     "You did this!!" I shouted in pure rage.

    "Guilty" she smirked with a mocking laugh.

I shot a fire blast at her throwing her back into the pole.

    "I should've ended you when I had the chance!"

    "But you didn't, why is that I wonder. Must be the good heart you got from mother. I'm glad I took after father"

I could feel the anger boiling hotter within the second and all I could see was the hot orange fire blast I had now aimed directly at my sister. Of course she had to immediately defend herself with her blue fire. At that moment I didnt care. I was determined to win. I breathed heavily from the rage and the will power it took to keep from  breaking my end. Azula knew I was in a weakened state and unfortunately used this to her advantage. She made her flame larger, dissipating mine knocking me to the ground.

     "Face it Zuko, you've never been as strong as me and never will be" Azula laughed mockingly as she stepped closer.

I rested up on my elbows again as I looked at her. I could see out of the corner of my eye Mai and Jett staying back and out of the way. Smart choice on their end. I stared at my sister directly.

     "What are you waiting for then? End it,"

    Azula smirked, "Oh I will and I'm gonna enjoy it,"

My heart raced as she made lightening come from her finger tips. Though I could feel at that moment a slight sense of peace because I knew I would see Y/n again.

      "Zuko no!" My uncle called out.

    "Stay back uncle its okay,"

     "No!"

My uncle tried to go after my sister but all she did was knock him down and smirked back at me. I knew she was enjoying this too much. Just as she made the lightening bigger a large amount of air was shot directly towards us and my head turned so quickly to the side I almost gave myself whiplash.

    "How many times have I told you Azula??? Leave me and Zuko alone!"

A bright smile came to my face.

     "Y/n??"

Despite not wanting to tears actually came to my face seeing her. Not to mention even more pure joy seeing the look of anger that crossed my sisters face.

     "What?! That's not possible!" Azula cursed in anger.

     "Surprise bitch-"

A blue fire blast was shot her way but it was quickly extinguished with air. I smirked watching her feeling ever so glad to have met her.

Y/n's P.o.V

I laughed looking at Azula. A part of me honestly couldnt believe how pathetic she was.

     "That all you got" I taunted.

It was worth it to see how angry she was becoming. She shot another fire blast at me and once again I blocked. Once the fire was diminished, I kept an air circle going and Naomi shot fire directly into the air circle causing it shoot directly at Azula. She looked shocked and a little scared. Again a fire blast from the girl only made this more fun for me. Noami threw a bucket of water into the air circle. I was able to manipulate the water and knock her directly onto her feet with it. The surprised look on her face actually made a laugh escape my lips. However she didnt give up as she stood to her feet shooting a larger blue flame at me. I made a side ways cyclone to dissipate it being knocked back a few feet. Naomi turned it up a notch and threw in several rocks, catching her off guard knocking her down again.

    "Had enough yet?"

I smirked proudly.

     "Never,"

She stood to her feet, forming lightning in her hands aiming it directly at me. I didn't hesitate for even a second making a larger cyclone appear. Noami took charge, throwing fire, water and earth into it allowing me to manipulate all elements giving it everything I've got making Azula fall weakly to the ground. She panted as I stepped closer.

    "How?"

    "I may not be the Avatar, Azula, but I am an Airbender and I know how to manipulate other elements, so yes I am stronger than you. Deal with it. Now I am going to take Zuko back to Ba Sing Se where our family is and you are never and I mean never going to hurt my family or friends ever again!"

    She chuckled, "You'll never get Mai and Jett on your side," she mocked.

    I snickered, "Sorry to tell you sweetheart but they took off...together, so you're on your own"

I turned my back to her laughing as I walked over to Zuko helping him stand up.

    "You alright Zu?" I asked him softly.

    "Yes I'm fine but...How are you alive?" He asked dumbfounded.

     "I didnt mean to scare you love but it was the only way I could think to defeat Azula, please dont be angry with me"

He just looked at me for a moment before quickly wrapping his arms around me holding me tightly.

    "Angry? I could never be angry with you. I was just scared,"

He buried his face in my neck as gentle tears fell from his eyes.

     "Its okay I'm here my love, you didnt tell any of our friends I was dead did you?"

His eyes widened as he looked at me.

    "Zuko?!"

    "They had a right to know and I thought you were gone,"

  

I couldnt help to smile softly at him.

     "I guess they did," I chuckled, "Come on we will go tell them together as we check on our daughter together,"

I took his hand smiling gently as I walked inside with him. I wasnt sure how today was gonna turn out but I can tell you one thing I'm not disappointed and now I dont have to be afraid anymore. I can finally be happy with the one I truly love.

“here’s to the next graduating class! good luck in the new chapter of your life, guys!” katara exclaimed. 

you smiled and went over to katara, wrapping your arm around her shoulder. “and here’s to my little sister katara. you are amazing and never cease to amaze me. you've been through so much and have survived. mom would be really proud. happy birthday!”

katara grinned, “awe, thank you, y/n. i love you.”

“i love you, too,” you giggled, kissing her on the cheek. 

“alright, let’s get this party started!” toph exclaimed. sokka turned on the boombox, music filling the silence of our background. 

“you sure the neighbours won’t care?” katara asked nervously. 

“for the last time, no! they’re the same age as us, not 80,” toph groaned.

“be nice to the birthday girl,” i scolded. “sorry, katara. you’re acting like you’re 80, though,” toph grinned. 

katara rolled her eyes, “yeah, yeah, i know. anyways, where’s jet?” she turned to you. 

you took a sip of your sprite and looked around, wondering the same thing. “i don’t know, i texted him that the party started at 7.”

“maybe he’s picking up a birthday gift for kat,” suki joined in the conversation. 

“maybe,” you shrugged. “oh, he doesn’t have to do that,” katara said. 

“please, you love gifts,” suki scoffed playfully. katara grinned, “a little.”

you chuckled, walking over to aang, sokka, and haru. 

“hey, haru!” you exclaimed. haru looked to you, a smile lighting up his face. 

“’sup, y/n! nice to see you again,” he greeted.

you smiled, “likewise. excited to be graduating?” “as much as the next person,” he shrugged. 

“fair enough,” you nodded. “so, y/n, where’s your boyfriend?” sokka asked. 

“i have no idea, sokka. has he texted you?” you asked. 

“nope,” sokka shook his head. “you’re no help,” you rolled your eyes. 

“i think i saw him at mai’s,” haru interjected. 

you furrowed your brows. “why would he be at mai’s?”

“they’ve been hanging out a lot recently,” aang stated. 

“and you know that, why?” you asked. “well, mai’s house is on my way out of the neighbourhood, so i see jet’s car there a lot,” he explained. 

“huh,” you pursed your lips. 

was he at mai’s house last week?

“oh, here they come!” sokka exclaimed, pointing to zuko, mai, and jet. 

a small smile rested on your face as zuko looked at you. he held up a six pack of beer, gesturing to mai and making a crazy face. you giggled, walking up to them. you opened up the fence gate and let them in. 

“oh, great! more beer,” you chuckled. 

“yeah, well, it’s a party, right?��� mai said flatly. 

“right,” you chuckled awkwardly, stepping aside to let them in. 

“i’m just gonna set these down,” zuko said. you nodded and let him pass. 

jet turned to you with a big smile, but a frown spread across your lips at you met his eyes. jet’s hand reached out for yours, but you pulled back roughly. 

“you’re late,” you sneered. you turned on your heel and walked away to where zuko was. 

jet’s eyes widened and his heart raced. he took a few strides, catching up to you with ease. he put his hand on your wrist, pulling you back. 

“hey, what’s the matter?” jet asked. he prayed that you didn’t find out he cheated on you. 

“you’re late,” you repeated, giving him a hard glare. “i-i’m sorry. i went to go to mai’s,” he explained. 

“why? aang says you’ve been hanging out with her a lot recently,” you frowned. 

“oh um….” jet averted your gaze, looking everywhere but you. “well, we used to be friends, but we kind of fell off. we both have just connected recently.”

“why didn't you tell me you have been spending time with her?” you asked. 

“because i know you don’t like her,” jet answered.

“you’re right, i don’t, but you don’t need to lie to me.”

“i know, i’m sorry,” jet sighed, now looking you in the eyes. 

“i thought we said no lies,” your frown got deeper. “i’m not going to be with someone who-”

jet took your free hand in his. “i know, i’m sorry, i am. no more lies, i promise. i don’t want to lose you.”

you stared into his dark eyes, deciding on whether to believe him or not. you just wanted to ask him one more question before giving in. 

“last week when you came home in the morning with donuts, were you at longhsot’s or mai’s?” you asked. 

jet’s eyes widened slightly. you stared at him, raising your brow as you noticed his reaction. 

“c’mon, jet, answer the question. it’s not that hard,” you taunted. 

“i was at longshot’s,” jet said confidently. you eyed him, “hm… so if i called longshot, he would say the same thing? if i asked mai, she would agree?”

“yep,” jet smiled. he made sure to slow his breathing and keep his eyes on you the whole time. 

“alright, well, if i find out there’s a different story, you’re dead,” you warned. 

“don’t worry, i would never lie to you,” jet nodded, pressing a loving kiss to your forehead. 

“i know,” you sighed, closing your eyes and leaning into him. 

well, you at least hoped. 

“i’m gonna go and say hi to everyone, alright?” jet said. 

“yeah, sure,” you nodded. jet gave you a smile, letting go of your hand and walking towards the boys. 

zuko came over to you, frowning as he noticed you looking sad and irritated. 

“what’s got you down?” he asked. 

you sighed and took a sip of your sprite, “oh, just some relationship drama.”

“ah, i see. i understand.”

“i know you do,” you chuckled. “hm, i need something stronger than just sprite.”

“suki is playing bartender,” zuko tilted his head to suki who was shaking a mixer. 

“oh, this is gonna be a long night,” you chuckled. “i am so glad i don’t live with them anymore,” zuko stated. 

“oh, me, too. god, sokka and suki can be really loud,” you shuddered from past memories.

zuko grinned, “so can you.” you choked on your drink. “w-what?”

“i’m just kidding. i um, i don’t know anything,” zuko looked down, realising he had embarrassed himself. 

“you better know nothing,” you nudged him. zuko smiled, “trust me.”

“i’m starting to not like trusting people,” you remarked. 

“why not?” zuko furrowed his brows. “just a part of that relationship drama i was talking about,” you shrugged. 

“has jet done something? do i need to talk to him?” zuko suggested. 

“no, no. well, i don’t think he’s done something. have you um… did you know that mai and jet have been hanging out together?” you asked. you hoped to he would say no so you weren’t alone.

 “um… kind of?” zuko answered. “oh, great,” you muttered.

“mai never told me, though. we’ve been pretty distant lately,” zuko added. 

“oh. how is that going? ready to break up with her yet?” you asked. 

“actually, yeah,” he nodded. “hey, that’s good!” you nudged him excitedly. 

“yep. i’m thinking about doing it next week. it’ll be summer and i can just move out quickly, and never see her again,” zuko explained. 

“nice plan,” you smiled. “thank you. i could’ve have done it without you,” zuko said. 

“oh, well,” you shrugged sheepishly. “you came up with it yourself.”

“yeah, but you’re the one that helped me really decide if i wanted to do it. you let me rant about my relationship and gave me advice when i needed it. it means a lot to me,” zuko smiled sincerely. 

“oh,” you chuckled and looked down shyly. “it’s not problem. that’s what friends are for.”

“and you’re my best friend.”

“you’re mine, too,” you grinned. “well… you’re second best to sokka,” zuko smirked. 

you gasped, feigning hurt. “so rude! i take back what i said, you’re not my best friend anymore.”

“no, i was kidding! i’m sorry!” zuko apologised. 

“nope, i’m not accepting your apology, mister,” you shunned him. 

zuko set his drink down, putting his hands on your sides. “will you if i do this?” he moved his fingers along your sides, tickling you. 

“zuko!” you shrieked, giggling loudly. 

jet and mai looked at you two from across the backyard, groaning and scoffing. 

“they are so oblivious,” mai sneered. 

“yeah,” jet frowned, staring at you with jealousy and hurt. 

“why don’t we sneak up to zuko’s old room?” mai suggested. 

jet turned to her, “no.” mai rolled her eyes, “c’mon! no one will notice.”

“y/n will. i’ve already lied to her so much. i can’t do it again,” jet protested, looking down at the ground in shame. 

“ugh, you’re so soft,” mai spat. she then left him alone, strutting over to the bar. 

jet sighed loudly, leaning against the fence, looking at you and zuko. he didn’t know if it was mai’s words toying with his brain, or if it was real, but you looked so much happier with zuko. your eyes lit up and you had the biggest smile on your face. he looked to the ground, trying to think of anything but you and zuko. 

“hey, you okay, jet?” aang came over to zuko. 

jet looked back up, “yeah, just tired is all.”

“same here. i’m so glad i won’t have to take another final again,” haru smiled. 

jet smiled back, nodding in agreement. “hey, uh, you still dating that one girl?”

“mira? no, we broke up a few months ago,” haru answered. “why?”

“just wondering,” jet shrugged. 

sokka and aang narrowed their eyes at jet suspiciously. 

“you know you’re dating my sister, right?” sokka asked.

jet’s eyes widened and he nodded, “y-yeah, of course. why wouldn’t i?”

“just checking,” sokka shrugged. 

“hey, can i ask you guys something?” jet prompted. “sure, what’s up?” aang asked. 

“have y/n and zuko ever dated?” jet asked. 

sokka and aang looked to each other and burst out laughing. 

“what?” jet furrowed his brows, now feeling embarrassed about even considering the question. 

“nothing, nothing. it’s just… man, you are setting yourself up for a broken heart,” sokka chuckled, wiping a tear from his eye. 

jet frowned, “really? it’s that bad?”

“oh, c’mon, i bet it’s not,” haru smiled comfortingly at jet.  “haru, don’t even try. you know,” aang said. “know what?” jet asked, getting more anxious by the second. 

“well, y/n and zuko have never dated, but they’ve always had a thing for each other,” haru explained. 

“more than a thing. man, i swear they are in love with each other,” sokka chuckled. 

jet’s eyes widened. “t-they are?”

sokka stopped laughing, realising he said the wrong words. “uh… uh…”

“not anymore!” aang exclaimed. “trust me, y/n loves you. even if she did like zuko, she would never act on those feelings. she’s better than that.”

jet nodded, looking at you and zuko who were still talking. “right, yeah.”

then suki came over and grabbed sokka by the arm, pulling him away form the conversation. 

“you guys come and dance with us, too!” suki exclaimed to haru, aang, and jet. 

“see you guys on the dance floor,” aang smiled, going over to katara who was waiting for aang. 

haru went over to toph, taking her by the hand and swaying with her. you noticed everyone dancing and walked over to jet. 

“accompany me?” you asked. 

“of course,” jet smiled. 

you took jet’s hand and led him to the middle of the yard, getting in-between everyone. you put your hands around his neck, entangling your fingers in the hair that was at the nape of his neck. jet’s hands snaked around your waist, his fingers sliding themselves under your top. he caressed your skin as you swayed your hips together. 

you pulled him closer to you, your chests touching. you looked at him through your lashes, biting your lip with a smile. butterflies swarmed in jet’s stomach as he noticed the look on your face. he mirrored your seductive smile, his hands roaming down to your ass.

his eyes met zuko’s for a split second. zuko noticed jet’s hand placement and stared at you two with jealousy and longing. jet smirked at zuko and grabbed your ass roughly, eliciting a gasp from you. 

“touchy tonight, are we?” you teased. 

jet turned his attention back to you. 

“you know you love it,” jet winked. you giggled and nodded, “you’re right.”

a new song started to play, one more up-beat. you grabbed jet’s hand that was on the small of your back, taking it and spinning yourself around. jet’s lips sported a boyish grin as you returned to facing him. 

“i’ve always wanted to do that,” you admitted sheepishly. 

“you looked pretty,” jet complimented. you grinned, “thank you.”

you, jet, and everyone else jumped around to the music. katara and suki found you, taking your hands and spinning you around. you laughed as suki grabbed your neck, pulling you close. you two swayed your hips together, you throwing your head around to the beat. katara came up behind suki, putting her arm over her shoulder, dancing with you, too. soon, toph found her way to you three. katara took ahold of toph’s hand, spinning her around.

jet, sokka, and aang watched you four dance together. it was like a scene out of a teen drama movie. 

“we are so lucky,” sokka breathed out, eyeing suki as she rolled her body to the music. 

“that we are,” jet grinned at you. 

you caught jet’s eye, giving him a flirty smile. you lifted your hand and made a come hither motion with your fingers. jet walked over to you and you sneaked out of the group. you grabbed jet’s arm, pulling him close to you. your bodies met together and you leaned up to his ear. 

“wanna go into my old room?” you whispered.

excitement filled jet as he thought of the things you two would do. he nodded furiously, licking his dry lips in anticipation. you smirked and took his hand, leading him back into the house. 

zuko noticed you and jet going back into the house. he watched with painful stare, wishing that that was him and you going up to your room. 

mai noticed zuko’s gaze and scoffed to herself, she took zuko’s neck, pulling him close to her. 

“why don’t we go and have some fun ourselves?” mai suggested. 

zuko averted his gaze from you and looked into mai’s eyes. his own eyes filled with guilt as he know he had just been caught staring at you. he knew he didn’t have any other choice but to say yes to mai, otherwise they would end up in a fight.

“sure,” he nodded. 

mai smiled and took his hand, leading him into the house. they walked up to zuko’s old room. as they passed your room, zuko heard you giggle loudly. he wished he was the one making you happy now instead of jet.

An: GOOD DAY FRIENDS. So uhh this is like a modern au, where they still like, live in the western air temple, but they have PHONES! I read somewhere on wattpad about the idea that they had phones and it was way more modernistic, and I really liked it. But mine is a bit different, because the only modern thing here is the phones.

Anyways, this was fun, I liked doing texts :)

Summary:

Yn left during the night to think about things, what she didn’t expect was to have someone help her work through her emotions.

Warnings: Crying, bad thoughts, sad boy hours.

The moon rode high above the air temple. You didn’t know where you were going, but your feet were leading you somewhere. Your arms were folded, as you strayed further and further away from your group. This night was suffocating, it felt as if no matter what you did, this horrible feeling wouldn’t go away. It made you feel lonely. You had relatively no one to talk to. Sure your friends were great, but is it really worth it to bother them? You had decided long ago to keep to yourself, you were over reacting anyways.

You found yourself at the ledge of the far side of the temple, and took a seat. The ground cold and dusty, but you’d be surprised how easily one gets used to such a lifestyle.

Everything came crashing down. Tears flowed painfully fast, as your mind wandered. You felt yourself crumble, from the inside out. It felt like you were on the edge - edge of what? You weren’t exactly sure. Your hands rose to your face as you wiped your tears with your sleeves.

DING!

You jumped at the sudden noise, your hands making their way to the source. You pulled out your strawberry phone and checked the notifications.

You smiled after seeing the notification, for the big bad guy he used to be, he really is a big softy. You unlocked your phone before opening the messages app, and replying to his text.

You slipped your phone back into your pocket, letting legs sway in the air. It felt like such a long fall, yet you were extremely calm. No emotions at all. All the crying had passed, so now it was just sadness.

Not too long after, you felt a presence next to you. A really quiet presence. Zuko. You gazed at him, noting how he averted his eyes quickly. He carefully reached his hand out to hold yours, giving you time to pull away. You nodded to affirm it’s ok, and his hand fell onto yours, hands fitting together like a puzzle.

You two sat in a comfortable silence before Zuko spoke up.

“D-do you wanna talk about it?”

You tilted your head down, pondering his question. You eventually looked back to him, and opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. You burst into tears, breaking down yet again. The tears came running back and you were sobbing uncontrollably.

“I-I’m sorry I didn’t mean to-”

You squeezed his hand to try to affirm it wasn’t his fault, although you weren’t sure if he got the message.

The firebender carefully scooted closer, wrapping his arms around your shoulders, pulling you closer to him. You brought your knees up to your chest, and rested your head on his shoulder. Your hands hid your face as you cried, trying your best to stay quiet.

After you had worked through some of the emotions, the only sound that could be heard was the occasional sniffle.

“Zuko,” you started.

He gave you a small, encouraging smile, but you still couldn’t continue the sentence.

“Yn, you don’t have to tell me what's bothering you, but I promise I only want to help.”

Those words seemed to help, as your voice slowly returned to talking capacity.

“I-I feel like I set all these expectations on myself in order to maintain friendships with the gang, but I can’t handle it anymore. A-any and every second of the day, I inch closer to a breakdown. I-I guess today was my breaking point.” you let out a strained laugh towards the end of that sentence.

Zuko coked his head to the side, you could tell he didn’t exactly understand what you meant, but feared asking.

“It’s like, if I’m not helpful enough to Katara and Suki, or if I’m not entertaining enough to Sokka and Toph, or if I’m not supportive enough with you or Aang, you’ll all abandon me,”

“Yn, that’s not true. None of us would ever abandon you. And you mean more to me then you’ll know,”

“Maybe, but what if you're wrong? What if that’s just your own opinion?”

“Listen, I know it may seem hard to see. But you’re an amazing person, and anyone who can’t see that is just dumb, well excluding Toph who can’t see - period.” That last part was said in almost a whisper, but you heard it.

You began laughing. Quietly, but it was still there. Slowly, the laugh morphed back into crying. Zuko held you tighter, stroking his hand through your hair (A/N: if this doesn’t work for you, you can just imagine him rubbing his soothing circles on your shoulder).

“I’m so sorry,”

“Yn, there is nothing to be sorry for,”

“For burdening you with my problems,” you sniffled, digging your face into his torso.

“You’re not burdening me, in fact, I’m happy you’re comfortable enough to share this with me,”

And in that second, you saw Zuko. Not as your friend Zuko, but as, Zuko.

His face began getting closer, and closer to meet in the middle with your lips. Just as you were about to touch,

“Yn?”

You hummed to show you were listening.

“I don’t want to do this when you're so emotionally vulnerable.”

You nodded, understanding where he was coming from.

“It’s not like I don’t wanna kiss you! I- Uh- Um- I do, but right now isn't the bes-”

You cut him off with a finger on his lip,

“Then, I guess we have tomorrow to look forward to.” you smiled.

He nodded, smiling, and stood up, reaching his hand out to help you up. You took it gratefully, giving him a playful nudge once you stood up.

And to your tent he walked you, hand in hand.

The next morning:

You had slept in that morning, going to bed late definitely taking a toll on you.

Not Zuko though.

Zuko had been up early, wondrous excitement in his eyes. He was less angsty than usual, still angsty, but enough of a change that it was noticeable to everyone else.

At breakfast, everyone (excluding Toph and Zuko) was exchanging weird looks at each other, referring to Zuko. He was actually smiling. That’s extremely rare. And also, where is Yn? She’s never late to breakfast.

“Uh, where’s Yn?” Katara asked.

“I think she’s still asleep.” Aang replied.

Nods of agreement were passed around,

“But she never sleeps in?” Sokka added.

“Maybe she was tired?” Suki tried.

“Or she’s just on her phone,” Toph scoffed.

Zuko was relatively quiet, and Toph took note of this.

“Do you happen to know anything, Sparky?”

“Nah, not really,”

“Liar.” She replied, way too fast.

Suddenly everyone was staring at Zuko, who looked mortified.

“Relax y'all, we just stayed up chatting,” you said, stretching as you neared the group.

You sat down next to Zuko, offering him a smile, before getting handed your bowl and beginning to eat.

Still, Sokka gave really weird glances between the both of you.

“Something here smells fishy...” Sokka observed.

Zuko raised a brow, trying to play it off cool.

“Fine, the wedding’s tomorrow,” you said calmly.

“AHA! Wait what?”

“She’s joking, idiot!” Toph snorted.

Sokka grumbled before resuming his meal. However, Toph didn’t let how fast Zuko’s heart rate accelerated at the mention of the wedding slide.

Breakfast was over, and the gang dispersed. Zuko decided to give the avatar a short break whilst he dealt with some- business. He swallowed built up fears of this moment, walking over to your tent. He knocked carefully on a nearby stone.

“Who is it?”

“Zuko.”

“Alright well come in!”

He slowly entered the tent and sat by you.

“I believe you are in debt, sir.” you started, “I would like to receive my payment now,”

“Hm, very well.” he played along.

The pair turned to each other, Zuko turning red just thinking about it. You carefully took his hands in yours, and gave him a ‘are you sure you still want this?’ look, he nodded.

In a matter of seconds, your lips crashed into his.

The kiss went on for a few seconds, both of you pulling away and resting your foreheads on one another’s. Then you turned around, and sat between his legs, facing the small mirror you had sloppily hung up. His chin rested on your head, and his arms were around your waist.

“Yn?”

“Mhm?”

“Do you want to like, be my,” you could tell Zuko was scared to finish the sentence, so you did.

“If you're asking me to be your girlfriend, then yeah, I’d like that.”

You saw Zuko smile from the mirror, blushing slightly as he gazed at you. Once he saw the mirror, particularly your eyes watching him, he became even redder.

You began giggling uncontrollably.

“Okay, well, boyfriend, we should probably get back to the gang now,”

“Okay, I love you,”

“I love you too,”

Zuko left the tent, but not before he got a shorter goodbye kiss from you. You stayed behind to clean the messy tent.

“I KNEW IT, I’M TELLING EVERYONE!” Sokka screamed, pointing accusedly towards Zuko.

So much for privacy.
