Jet and Jin have a problem. Their mutual crushes, Zuko and Katara, are completely oblivious-- both to Jet and Jin's feelings and to their own, very obvious, crushes on each other.

Jet and Jin have a plan. Convince Zuko and Katara to go out with them for an amazing day of fun and romance. Confess their feelings and try to get Zuko and Katara to confess theirs. Communicate and, hopefully, work out the details of a new relationship.

...Jet and Jin have another problem. Instead of sweeping Zuko and Katara off their feet, they're starting to fall for each other.

Can they balance attempting to start a new relationship with navigating their new feelings? Or will they end up breaking hearts and trust?

Thank you! And yeah, in this thing that won't words yet they don't have a great first meeting. Them wanting the same thing is more accurate in this than you know. They both can be extremely stubborn, and that can provide so much drama without making their relationship awful and it's great! They definitely have at least one mutual friend, probably more. Yes, you do make sense, someone probably has to lock them in a room together or otherwise force them into continued close proximity to get them to talk.

And enemies-to-lovers-but-the-long-way is just perfect. (Enemies-and-rivals to reluctantly-putting-up-with-each-other to maybe-you're-not-so-bad to we-can-do-this-getting-along-thing! to okay-fine-we-are-friends to best-friends-but-it-is-totally-platonic-mostly-probably to lovers.)

Do you think it sounds in character for Zuko and Katara to get super competitive pre-them getting along? Basically I have what might be a modern AU stuck in my head, and they're kind of enemies/rivals. At the start, anyway. (Reminder: it's perfectly fine to ignore this.) Oh absolutely, yes! I think given how passionate both Zuko and Katara are, it's very possible for them to be competitive and clash heads especially if they aren't friends/have known each other for some time at that point.

Like, I keep thinking that maybe they eventually want the same thing but just because they have vastly different ways of approaching the situation, they somehow end up thinking the other person is terrible. And because of how stubborn they both can be, they don't even try to talk to each other and find out what they really want, which just leads to more miscommunication and more frustrated venting to their other friends.

It's also particularly funny in my head if they both have the same mutual friends because then their mutual friends will just be done with their pointless bickering and will just want them to talk and sort things out because they know both Zuko and Katara are on the same page. But by that point, they've both been "rivals" for a long time and it's kind of become an ego thing? Do I even make sense?

They would eventually talk because of ~circumstances~ and then they would have this slow realization that oh, they aren't as bad as I thought they were. And cue enemies to reluctant partners to acquaintances to friends to maybe-you're-really-important-to-me to but-that-doesn't-mean-anything to idiots in love.

Oop, that was a rant. But tl;dr: yes, I think that's very, very in character for Zuko and Katara!

Give me a fandom and I’ll give you my:

* OT3 (triangle, all involved with one another): so I have. More than one of these. Like a lot. My main three are Zujintara, Jetkotara, and Maizulee. There's also Teophaang and Suekka (or whatever Suki/Sokka/Yue is called). Official one for this is Maizulee.

* OTV (three ppl, but one person is involved with the other two): Maikotara. Katara has a gf and a bf who are still learning to get along after their breakup years ago. I also like this one ok as a triangle.

* OT4 (quad, all involved with one another): Zujintaret my beloved. All the fluff of Zujintara, all the history of Jetkotara, what's not to love?

*OTN (four ppl, but not all involved with one another): hmm. I don't particularly have one of these, but right after I started shipping Teoaang and Tophzula it occurred to me that those could happen at the same time as Taang. So yeah. I don't have a name for it, though.

*OTMoar (five or more in a polyfidelitious ship together): Katara x Jin x Zuko x Jet x Ty Lee. This started out as "give Katara all the SOs she could possibly desire" but quickly morphed into "they're all dating at least most of the others". It works.

*OTPPP (poly puppy pile of a group in any manner of configuration of my choice): *screaming* too many options. Suffice to say, it is complicated and I can't decide which of the many possible configurations to put here.

*OTPOTP (two OTPs that I think should link up together for occasional sexy times): N/A. I do not wish to think about the sexy times.

*OTO (OTP in an open relationship): Taang all the way. I actually headcanon that this is how Teophaang would get started-- Toph and Aang are in an open relationship, Aang starts dating Teo, Toph and Teo become besties and start dating.

*OTPLP (one true platonic life partners): I mean, I don't care whether any of these ships are romantic or not most of the time, I just want the emotional intimacy and the Feelings™.

*OTP: I have so many. So here I will put a pairing I quite like but haven't really talked about cause I mostly ship them with each other (and Yue in a Yue Lives AU): Sukka.
