Finally… my magnum opus is complete, all without the help of that brat and that Legion I created. Awaken Goetia and Dagahn!
*The trophies of the two Ganglion shake rapidly, and light fills the room. Once the light dissipates, Luxaar could see that his general’s have been reawakened at last.*

Uuuuuggghhh… head hurt. Where… is Ryzz? Zu… Pharg?
The Zu Pharg has long been destroyed imbecile, all because of you and her. But that matters not… your assistance is greatly appreciated. And yes, Ryzz lives, though I know not for how long?
Tumblr media
Has… the cosmic cancer been eradicated? Did my failures stall BLADE long enough to atleast allow us to deal the finishing blow to humanity?
I’m afraid not… and worse yet we are in an entirely different universe. However, this unfamiliar realm offers opportunity.

PONGO BIO, PART TWO!
The Story:
Prologue - Chapter 5
Before the White Whale crash landed on Mira, the planet had given rise to many creatures and had developed an impressive ecosystem. Mira, being sentient, could predict that something would disturb its relative peace, and its predictions came true when the Ganglion and the White Whale arrived. It feared that their war would wreak havoc on the surface and destroy everything it had created, but it took a great interest in the customs of the humans and wished to guide them down the right path. So, it used miranium - its source of power and strength - to create a human form for itself, a vessel of sorts. However, as the body was being created, humans began to mine its resources using a variety of probes, extracting miranium for their own purposes. The sudden drainage weakened Mira greatly, to the point where it wasn’t able to complete its form. Despite this, Mira was able to release the form onto the surface to be placed in one of the lifepods, in the hopes that, one day, it would be strong enough to take control.
When Elma found a lifepod in Starfall Basin that wasn’t destroyed, she was beyond excited. She opened the lifepod door and expected to be faced with someone from the crew that she had known from her time on the White Whale. However, she was met with the pupiless indigo gaze of a complete stranger, who immediately collapsed onto his knees - weak from stasis, she assumed. Upon further conversation, the man introduced himself as Pongo - little did Elma know, this name was completely made up. He had no memories to speak of, and very little personality traits. When encountered with an enemy, Pongo used the assault rifle with ease - though, he ended up throwing his knife at the enemy, which proved pretty useless. Nevertheless, Elma took an interest in his abilities, and asked him if he wanted to find work. Pongo hesitated, but wasn’t against the idea. Already he knew that he wanted to reclaim his lost memories, and perhaps this organization could help him recover them.
The choice of two paths led to Pongo’s first important decision. He went to take the high but safe road, but then tripped and fell down to the coast, where Elma and he had to sneak past a few dangerous indigens. They were able to make it to the city by the time the sun went down, and once inside, Pongo began to meet new people: Lin, Doug, Irina, Gwin. Their first impressions sparked the formation of several personality traits, especially in the instance of meeting Irina and Gwin. He felt drawn to the duo for reasons he couldn’t explain, and after hearing about their work, he decided right then and there that, if he was able to join BLADE, he would be an Interceptor, like them.
And so, after a tyrant hunt and a probe placement, Pongo was able to fully register as a BLADE operative. Vandham began explaining the divisions, but was interrupted by Pongo, who had made his decision already - much to the astonishment of the team. When asked as to why he had chosen the Interceptors, he stated that it would be no greater honor than to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves, and thus he joined up with the Interceptors.
By the time that Pongo met Lao, he had developed a great deal of his personality, and started to view those around him as amazingly strong - and, in most cases, beautiful. This went for Lao upon first meeting him, but as they continued to interact, Pongo found himself questioning his work ethics. He seemed lazy, to an extent. This thought mostly occurred during the first affinity mission in Oblivia, but he never voiced this, as he wanted to be on good terms with the Pathfinder.
In Chapters 4 and 5, Pongo encountered more unique xenoforms, all of whom he took a liking to immediately. Accepting of all aspects, he loved the way L spoke, how he seemed so charismatic without even trying, and admired the Ma-non’s technological advancements. However, Chapter 5 brought a great deal more than just xeno interactions.
Pongo was more badly injured than pictured in the blast. Besides losing his left arm to the impact, he suffered multiple injuries to the torso area and came close to losing his foot past the ankle, after landing on it badly. Despite being in immense shock and pain, the only words Pongo spoke during this time were: “Is Tatsu okay?!”  After being patched up in the MMC and being told the truth about mimeosomes, Pongo was shocked. At first, he was worried that he was the only mimeosome, that he was weird and different. But the explanation about everyone being mimeosomes calmed him down, and hearing of the percentage on BLADE Tower inspired him more than ever to find the Lifehold Core - and restore his seemingly lost memories.
However, what he wouldn’t realize until later was that, being made of miranium, his new arm was not entirely compatible with the rest of his body. While the replacement process was successful, Pongo experienced moments where he couldn’t control his left arm. It shook and ticked constantly, especially when he was nervous or scared, but over time he was able to train himself to control the ticks. He never explained this to anyone, not even his closest friends, and hid the ticks as best as he could.
Chapter 6 - 10
The team encountered the Tainted in Chapter 6, after being sent to a section of Noctilum to investigate the Skell-like object. After Tatsu’s arrival, they were attacked by tainted Caros, which they fended off with ease. However, upon the encounter with the Sphinx, the team was overwhelmed. Elma, Lin, and Lao were incapacitated, so Pongo fought the majority of the battle himself. Not only did fighting alone terrify him, but the tainted gave him strange chills. He was able to kill the Sphinx, but came out of the battle greatly fatigued. As the rest of the team got up, another Sphinx arrived with some Caro friends, and as they prepared to fight again, Elma could swear that she saw Pongo’s eyes flash white before a dark shadow was cast over them.
The Telethia had arrived. It made quick work of the tainted and then faced the team with a mighty roar. Elma prepared to fight it if necessary, but Pongo felt drawn to the creature in a way he couldn’t understand. He thanked it, and it appeared to give him a nod before flying off into the horizon. Afterwards they all went back to the city, thinking that Pongo’s act of thanks was just that. However, Elma began to wonder if there was something more to Pongo, something that none of them knew.
After Chapter 6, Vandham allowed Pongo to take the Skell license test, and he passed with flying colors. Pongo treasured his Urban, as weak as it was, and took great care of it. It turned out, he was much better at Skell combat than ground combat, as he was adept with the controls to the point where even his parking jobs were outstanding. Even though he loved his Urban, he soon upgraded to a level 30 Lailah model, uncreatively named Lailah, and painted it with a mix of calming blues and purples.
Pongo was not with Elma and Lin on the offensive when the Ganglion attacked the city during Chapter 8, unlike the game’s depiction, and was instead tasked with getting civilians on board the Ma-non ship, to safety. He was also in charge of a small team of BLADEs charged with entering the city while it was under attack, when they received word that there were civilians trapped under the rubble of a destroyed building. It was then that he met Frye, who also joined him on this mission as a fellow Interceptor. The two became an “opposites attract” pair and shared the common interest of protecting and caring for Phog, who Pongo had met previously.
The team rescued eleven civilians from the rubble and were continuing to recover more who had not come aboard the Ma-non ship, but as they were working, they were attacked by Ganglion Skells. Pongo rushed to his Skell and fended off all the attacks on his own while the others got the civilians to a safer place. After the battle, Nagi recognized his courage in this feat, and after being rewarded for his efforts, Pongo was given the nickname “the Protector.”
Chapter 9 brought the introduction of the Wrothians. Almost at once Pongo began to admire their strength, but he didn’t approve of how they wanted to fight to solve differences, a trait he kept with the Wrothian sidequests. In the fight in Sylvalum, Elma, Lin, and Pongo went against Ga Jiarg and Ga Buidhe as a team, but in the end, Pongo found himself beaten by the Wrothians, as Ga Jiarg pinned him to the ground at the battle’s end. However, unexpecting of Elma and Lin, they held him at gunpoint after they beat Ga Buidhe, and so they bested the Wrothians and earned valuable information about the Ganglion’s whereabouts.
It was also during this chapter that suspicions arose about Lao being a spy. When prompted with the question, Pongo found himself denying the possibility - even though he was partial to the Pathfinder, he didn’t believe Lao would betray humanity. However, his deepest thoughts told him otherwise.
In Chapter 10, the team bested the Zu Pharg, but in the battle, Pongo’s Skell was destroyed at the last minute and he fell to the ground, suffering multiple injuries. He had to stay in the MMC for a long while, occupying the pod next to Lao. They had many conversations about Earth, and Lao told him all about Earth music and movies - two of Pongo’s future passions.
Chapters 11 and 12
Pongo wasn’t there when Lao left his pod and stole the Prog Ares, as he was still recovering in the MMC. Shortly afterwards, he was released and informed of the situation, but he was advised not to go with Elma to find Lao and take back the Prog Ares. Of course, Pongo knew he had to go with them, and ignored the warnings he was given. He felt that, if he went, he would be able to negotiate with Lao and get him to revoke his traitorous deeds.
In preparation, Pongo bought his next Skell model - a level 50 Lailah Queen named Lailah 2.0 (again, uncreatively named). Unlike the level 30 model he had, he colored this Skell with dark reds and blacks, as an attempt to show his progression as a strong warrior. The team headed out to Cauldros and infiltrated the Ganglion’s base. Pongo demonstrated his ability to sneak past everything they encountered, and the team hardly had to fight before finding the Prog Ares.
After defeating Lao, Lin ran up to protect him from Elma’s pointed gun, and after hearing their speeches, Pongo found himself making the decision to stand next to Lin. Upon seeing Elma’s surprised gaze, he explained that he would have made some of the same decisions Lao did, had he been in his shoes. He told her that his family is very important to him, and that if anything bad happened to them, he would want immediate revenge on those who caused them pain. It was in this moment that Elma gained a new respect for the Interceptor, and it was this speech that made her lower her gun and make a different choice.
After using the data to find the Lifehold Core (thus beginning Chapter 12), Elma asked Pongo to join her and the rest of the team to enter the core and restore the backup power. However, he found himself torn between going with Elma and defending the Core from any possible Ganglion threats - the Interceptors had been tasked with doing so. He ultimately sided with joining the Interceptors, believing his duty with his division was important to getting Elma and her team inside the Core safely.
In the battle outside the Core, Pongo joined forces with Frye yet again, and the two worked side by side to defeat any Ganglion that dared to approach them. However, in the midst of their work, Pongo spotted the Vita plunging towards the trion barrier. Afraid of what would happen if it broke through and reached the Core, Pongo abandoned Frye and threw his Skell towards the Vita, knocking it off course for a brief moment. The two engaged in combat, but Pongo knew that alone, he would lose. However, it didn’t stop him from trying, and ultimately, the Vita broke the barrier and reached the Core - though Pongo wasn’t far behind.
The Vita reached its destruction in the Core, but not shortly after, Lao returned and became a backstabbing backstabber. Pongo was relieved to see that he had turned his back against his previous ideas, and he considered going in to help Lao finish Luxaar, but at the last minute both Luxaar and Lao fell into the Core, reemerging as a terrifying chimera. Unable to bring himself to fight it, Pongo tried to find some other way to help him, but everyone around him charged in to fight, leaving him with very few options. Still in his Skell, he tried to defend those on the ground, but Lao knocked Lailah 2.0 out of commision, forcing Pongo onto the ground as well. With the help of all of his friends, they were able to defeat Lao - but Pongo still felt guilty about fighting him, even to the present day.
When Elma showed her true form, Pongo was in awe. How could she be more beautiful than she already was? He accepted her immediately, as did the rest of the people on the team. Together, they all left the Core, and they lived happily ever after…
...until Elma discovered that all of their memories that had been stored in the Core had been destroyed. She shared this information with her most trusted friends, including Pongo. She thought it was something about this planet…
And little did she know, there was more to the planet than she ever thought.
More Fun Facts!
Even if you prefer a nickname, Pongo will call you by your full first name. He believes this to be polite and somewhat formal.
Since he’s made of miranium, the life force of Mira, Pongo can sometimes feel when it’s being mined or used. Especially when creating or using Skell superweapons, he finds the sensation strange, yet oddly nice.
He gets drunk rather quickly, and acts like a complete idiot - but has a lot more confidence. Afterwards, he never remembers what he does during these episodes.
Pongo still calls Gwin “Mr. Evans” from time to time.
L often tells Pongo about his understandings of old Earth customs, but more often than not, they’re completely and utterly skewed perceptions. Even so, given how enthusiastic Pongo is about learning about Earth, he utilizes the customs in everyday life - leading to him dabbing as a form of thanks.
Sometimes Pongo walks around with a vogue hibiscus in his hair - for reasons.
Pongo is ambidextrous, but prefers to use his right hand.
While he’s great at most forms of dancing, Pongo finds that he’s a great pole dancer and enjoys it the most.
Somebody once made a tally of how many times Pongo got launched by various indigens. They lost track after 154.
He is great friends with Lugalbanda, the Wanderer King. After a misunderstanding, they now enjoy tea parties together in Lugalbanda’s cavern.
Though they aren’t an option for male characters in game, Pongo occasionally wears the blue and purple sights (y’know, the butterfly headpiece thingy). It was a gift from L.
His usual teammates are Gwin, Irina, and Frye, but Pongo still has very close attachments to his first team: Elma and Lin.
For the love of everything living, don’t give Pongo a stuffed lobster. Or a cooked lobster. Anything lobster related, really.

Quick Rook facts
Contains chapter spoilers for Xenoblade Chronicles X!
-“Rook” is just an ironic nickname Elma gave her after seeing that she’s clearly no rookie when it comes to fighting. However, due to her blatant amnesia Rook has nothing else to go by. She is, however, trying to find a name for herself in case she never discovers her real one.
-After she joined BLADE, others soon realized that Rook has great difficulty reading. She’s being tutored (mostly by Lin) and has made good progress, but this sometimes causes her to wait for others to come to her with problems rather than reading the mission board.
Tumblr media
-Rook doesn’t have a very good sense of humor, and the rare times she does try to make jokes they’re not that funny (usually only L thinks they’re humorous). She’s trying, though!
-Rook’s silent nature reminds Frye of Phog, and the three of them get along surprisingly well.
Tumblr media
-She got her scar from the fight with the Zu Pharg, but doesn’t see the point in altering her mim to make it go away. She’s also bad in general with her appearance and doesn’t understand fashion
-She scrapbooks, and spends lots of time in Noctilum (her favorite continent) hunting rare flowers down. Elma suggested the hobby to her, and so far it’s been a success.
Tumblr media
-She became so distraught over the loss of her arm in Chapter 6 that she refused the new one, searched desperately until she found the old one, and had it reattached.
-Hope and Rook are bad influences on each other. Whenever they team up, they overwork themselves helping other people.
Tumblr media
-Rook has great respect for those who have history with Elma and is as loyal to them as she is to Elma herself. One of the surest ways to get Rook to like you is to show you’re friends with Elma and Lin.
-Until Chapter 11, Rook had a tendency to blindly follow Elma and Lin, and their conflict over Lao made her realize that she can’t always rely on the two of them for everything. She doesn’t regret her decision to stand by Lao and Lin, but secretly worries her decision harmed her friendship with Elma.
-She’s an insomniac and avoids sleeping as much as her mim will let her. This might have something to do with nightmares she’s had about the Ganglion, but she still refuses to sleep long after their defeat... Could there be a another reason?

Shenanigans Part 2:
When Jaynix and Aevi left Zack brought Draco and Sy along to show her around Sylvalum. They admired the Zu Pharg wreckage, found some Coronids doing some questionable things, and were treated to a Crimson Aurora.
Then they paid a visit to the Wrothian Stronghold where they had a chat with Prince Jiarg and Ga Buidhe. Arya was one her best behavior for the most part until she found a panel she couldn’t help mess with.

Hey look at this, I'm playing this with Internet access! So what better way to use it than to take part in those Squad Tasks in the bottom right corner? And I think I do a bit of Tyrant hunting as well. Except I got bored, said "fuck it" and I went and did a Story Mission. Chapter 10, "The Zu Pharg Menace". Now that was awesome! I just wish I didn't lose my Skell and die, forcing me to break up the tension by going back to the barracks. And there was a point where I was pulled away from the game, and I didn't feel like splitting the video so I cut out the 9 and a half minutes that was staring at the Wii U Home Button screen. Oh and also, where in the HELL is that Core!? by MatthewAran

I warned him of the dangers of hubris and how the Fatalis is basically an eldritch being in dragon form, too. Basically, it can melt metal in the worst conditions for such a thing in mere seconds, and yet it’s flames aren’t near-white when it does so, too.
………*Sigh* Reminds me of when I tried to attack NLA with Zu Pharg… but atleast I learned not to do that shit albeit after I fucking died!

Played more Xenoblade X yesterday and a bit of today as well, mostly just doing affinity missions and regular missions still, picking up the flight module, but I also did chapter 10, which has you fighting the Zu Pharg - a fuck off gigantic air ship in Sylvalum that takes ages to kill. But actually I knew it took me ages to kill on my first playthrough, so I looked up its weaknesses in advance and wow when you play this game with weaknesses and resistances in mind it becomes a lot easier. I think I’ll be sure to go into chapter 12 with those in mind too since I basically locked myself in an impossible fight on my first playthrough just from lack of prep and some of the game mechanics surrounding story missions. Hopefully it goes a bit better this time around.

L knows a lot, right? Why not pretend that he knows about the older Xeno stories? And then he tells them to whoever is interested.
But anyways, have you heard of the brave and heroic fluff ball from Xenogears? [YT Link - Minor party member spoilers?]
Fun fact: When I fought this boss, fog rolled in the last third of the boss fight. It was unnerving to hear Lin and Elma call out for support. but not being able to find them (and at that point I was STILL hitting a trigger rather than the face button for soul voices). The only thing you could sorta see, was that big, black shape trying to get closer and closer to NLA…
