Akari disappears not long after Ingo does. Her friends look for her, of course, but fail to locate her. Irida is the one to approach Rei while he's in the Icelands one day, asking if he'd seen Akari recently. When he admits he hasn't her expression crumples and she tells him that Lady Sneasler had informed her something was wrong with Akari but Irida hadn't been able to locate the human-zoroark to find out what, and had been hoping she'd been in Jubilife Village since Ingo had vanished. Sneasler has no way to communicate what has happened to Akari besides what everyone already knows- that she's a Zoroark.

It's Cogita who finds Akari many weeks later, feral and enraged. Were the heavens still opened she'd have thought the girl was frenzied with her aggressive behavior. There are new injuries on her and she's absolutely filthy, but Cogita sees beyond the blanket protection of ferality. She sees the distraught and fear behind the blank Zoroark glare and she mourns for the girl she jokingly called her granddaughter. Rather than running she approaches, risking injury to touch the girl with softness despite her threat to lash out. Rather than attack Akari freezes and then slumps onto the woman, warbling out her father's name.

Cogita tries to provide comfort when someone catches her attention- Ingo himself, hauling at speed towards them. There's someone behind him but that person doesn't matter. Akari looks miserable, not having heard the destruction of snow behind her, and Cogita turns her to face Ingo. The Zoroark freezes in shock before running gleefully to her father, leaping upon him and burying her face in his neck, her form fluctuating between Zoroark and human in her glee. She freezes when footsteps approach them, tensing her grip on Ingo. He only smiles at the man- the man who shares his face. Akari should be happy but she's fearful instead.

What does this mean? Who is this man?

He greets her gently, and Akari thinks that if her father is smiling and happy to see him, not trying to remove her... maybe she can be happy is well.

Warden Ingo with a S/O that really likes to pounce on people they like.

They’ll jump on Laventon. They’ll jump on Akari & Rei. They’ll jump kick Kamado in the face.

Ingo’s S/O is usually pretty low-key, but sometimes they’ll experience bursts of energy and affection (AKA Zoomies), which makes them go POUNCE.

Ingo always catches them and, when the situation warrants it, will scold them. It goes in one ear and out the other when they’re in ‘zoomie’ mode.

Fjejendidnwj Akari and Rei!!! You’re gonna mow them down!!

Ingo, at first, is shocked by your "zoomies," as you call them. He's used to you being more calm and collected, but here you are, wrestling and pouncing on your Pokémon in such a way his Pokémon beg him to join, or for him to wrestle them too. It's when you pounce on him, giggling as you cling to him, that he relaxes into it. You remind him of the Sneasel kits, in a way, so he's quick to grow used to your behavior

The one thing he tries to regulate is the time and place. Laventon and the other Survey Corp members seem used to your zoomies as well. Laventon catches you, chuckling as he hugs you back. Akari and Rei immediately wrestle you, shouting about finally winning against you this time! Cyllene merely swiftly and easily pins you, but you always laugh, and even she has a sly smile on her face. It's endearing to watch

It's when Kamado is around that Ingo tries to restrain your actions. The commander is a little stricter about your pouncing, despite his own willingness to flip people around. He'd welcome your pouncing, but Ingo knows you don't intend just to pounce. Your play fighting loses all playfulness when Kamado is introduced, so he grips you tight to him, keeping you from another banishment.

Back at home, with the Sneasels or in the house, Ingo happily wrestles you. You're so cute, using all your strength to try and pin him. But time taking care of Sneasels and a few more playful Sneaslers have given him an advantage. Your battles are legendary, and very fun. Once you're worn out, Ingo tucks you both into bed for snuggling, pleased to have you by his side, making the days so much brighter

Okay so I've already rambled about the Zoroakari AU so I'm gonna tell you about the Hybrid Ingo+Emmet AU i made with my brother

So thanks to Rift Shenanigans™, Ingo comes back from Hisui a Sneasler hybrid and Emmet a Joltik hybrid(if you want to hear about the Warden Emmet/Lady Zoroakari AU that somehow keeps tying in to everything then I will gladly direct you to the Ao3 collection), Emmet's transformation is horrific and involves two arms ripping out of his sides a la wingfic and his Pokemon had to move fucking FAST to ensure he did not die

Ingo's transformation is much less so, he gets Sneasler ears and a feather and a lot of fluff

Emmet had to stay in the hospital for a while, rightfully so because a shit ton of his ribs were broken and his body had to rearrange itself and learn how to body again, Lemon(his Galvantula) has not left his side since his transformation and considers him her baby now, much like his entire Joltik swarm, but after he got out of the hospital life mostly goes back to normal! He has two smaller eyes above his normal eyes that see heat instead of things, and sometimes he uses those and closes his main eyes if he's overstimulated, and his second set of arms is covered in blue chitin and Joltik fuzz from the shoulder to the wrist

Both the twins have instincts, Emmet falls into his more often since he's unevolved and the Baby Pokemon Instincts™ take over quite a lot in an attempt to keep him safe, stay with mom, stay away from the danger types, the big Pokemon, don't get crushed- Half of those instincts do also apply to his team, meaning Pokemon like Luxa(Chandelure) and Eyrie(Archeops) now terrify him and he can't touch them easily

Ingo, on the other hand, has a much easier time separating his Pokemon half from his human half, and integrates his instincts when they do him good, especially with Lady Sneasler and her kits because she came with him when he came home(after appointing an heir ofc), however, on full moons he become a full Sneasler, it's a whole werewolf deal yknow

He goes feral for a night

First time it happened, Lady Sneasler was hostile the moment she saw him, but he was giving off a whole bunch of scared and confused vibes so she examined him a little more and realized "Hey wait, this is my Warden, what??" And started treating him like a Sneasel who evolved too early, babying him a little yk, helping him get used to his new body

(he's smaller than her only by a few inches but it's noticeable)

For a few months Emmet thought their house was fucking haunted on full moons because Wereingo is just a massive cat and if you've ever owned/worked with a cat, you'd understand

Then after some time, he ran into Wereingo entirely on accident and just had a "wait. What" moment because this fuckin thing is wearing his brother's hat and acting super affectionate towards him and Lady Sneasler doesn't seem worried?? So???? Anyway, that night ends with Emmet falling asleep being cuddled to death in Ingo's nest, verrrry confused, but shit gets explained/figured out in the morning

I say "figured out" because Ingo doesn't quite remember what happens when he turns, but the good news is he's not all that hostile! Only if he's attacked/threatened first <<<<<3

For a while, Akari(usually Zoroakari in my thoughts) is in Sinnoh with her family, so Wereingo goes through quite a few nights just searching through the house for her and getting increasingly distressed when he can't find his kit. So when she finally comes to stay with her uncles in Unova, a full moon comes around and suddenly she's being coddled and groomed by a fuckin Sneasler that she only vaguely recognizes, mostly through mannerisms and scent. She's reasonably alarmed at this until Emmet, tired as shit, just goes "yeah he does this every month. no yeah it just happens. can't really control it, just hope for the best. i'm going back to bed" And Doesn't Elaborate until next morning when Ingo is human-ish again and he's gotten sleep

NOW IT'S TIME FOR MORE JOLTEMMET STUFF!!! We all know he's currently unevolved, but when he does evolve he ends up as like a galvantula centaur thing and it's a little horrifying and a lot less easily hidden because That's The Entire Lower Half Of His Body, and I have a vague dot-to-dot scenario of how he evolves, because I think he'd actually be a little scared of it happening because he likes feeling small and safe with his family and he's lowkey scared that if he evolves, he won't be allowed to do that anymore which is a dumb fear bc ingo loves him a lot and would never deny him but emmet is forever afraid that he will be left again and just keeps an Everstone on him, tucked into his hat or pocket or something, to stop it from happening, but lemme grab that bullet-point list of how he evolves

- Big battle, like against an evil team or something

- Ingo starts getting overwhelmed

- Emmet jumps in to protect him

- Emmet's hat gets knocked off, and the Everstone with it

- Emmet defeats one enemy, more enemies come up, the stress and need to protect his family kicks off his evolution

- EMMET GALVANTULA CENTAUR TIME MF-ERS

Emmet goes fucking feral in defense of Ingo while Ingo recovers and its actually kinda scary- People run from the sudden monster that is the Doubles Line Subway Boss and as soon as Emmet is sure they won't come for Ingo again, he turns back to his brother, wild blue eyes sparking with rage and mandibles clicking, fuzz bristling up in hostility, and he starts approaching and Ingo's instinct, despite most of him going "woahhhh cool brother fighting moments :0", is to try and get away and defend from harm because Emmet is Very Clearly On The Offensive

Ingo, feather and ear pinned back in fear, slowly crawls back away from the hybrid in front of him. He knows it is Emmet, he knows very well. But everything in him is telling him to run, escape from the danger! But he can't. It's his brother, but Ingo can't tell if Emmet can still recognize him. His claws digging into the ground beside him, he watches in terror as Emmet comes towards him. He wants to talk to his brother, but when he opens his mouth nothing comes out.

Emmet bends down cause he's suddenly a lot taller than he thought he was, and starts quietly examining Ingo for any sort of injury, making a little chitter here and there but giving no indication he knows its Ingo, and not just something of his hoard he was meant to protect. It's hard to tell if someone, human or Pokemon, is still the same after evolution. If they still have the same mind, the same memories. Ingo keeps hissing on instinct and immediately shutting it down. He doesn't want to provoke Emmet, if that can happen, and he certainly doesn't want to find out if his brother will attack him.

His hair is frizzing up. Emmet is giving off more static electricity than he ever did before, even after a big meal of Gear Station's power generators. Emmet lifts Ingo's hat and starts combing through his hair, and it feels just like when Lemon does it, but larger. Emmet is too large now. Ingo has to dig his hands into the ground to stop from lashing out at him when he noses around the feather. But eventually, Emmet nods, and sets the hat back down. He leans down to look Ingo in the face for the first time. There are too many eyes. He's not smiling. It's neutral, which is alarming for Emmet, and is this even Emmet anymore? Ingo is scooped up into four arms and carries away from the danger. Everyone is too scared of the unnatural creature holding him to approach. Ingo catches Elesa's eye on the way. She's pale, and frightened.

There isn't any pause until the two of them are back at their house. Emmet doesn't stop at the living room, nor does he deliver Ingo to the bedroom decorated in black. Instead, they go to Emmet's room. Usually, Emmet comes from here to go find Ingo, but today he's bringing his older twin into the nest perpetually scattered with Joltik. He sets Ingo down and sorts it all out, and then pulls him into a cuddle.

Ingo isn't sure how to feel about this. His brother hasn't said a word, but that's normal when he doesn't have a script ready. He's not sure if his brother is still there, or if he's dealing with a wild Pokemon. He wouldn't know how evolution feels, he became a hybrid already fully evolved. But he can try and help Emmet, at least. That's all any of them can do at this point.

i’m sleep deprived so it’s sad au time - if i am unable to sleep for more than 4 hours at a time because of bs calls then everyone else gets to be sad too.

akari dying after her exile and becoming a zorua/zoroark is one of my favorite aus, however one version of this i haven’t seen is an au where beni successfully kills akari on her way up to the temple of sinnoh. (ik he doesn’t explicitly say he’s trying to do that in the game but that’s how i interpret the whole “kamado told me to get rid of you” lines from the game)

she’s on her way to meet irida, adaman, ingo and sneasler, and kamado when benji strikes. he stops her in her tracks and, shocked by the transformation, is able to send out a pokémon to get her. he send out gallade, who gets the upper hand on her and stabs into her stomach. akari collapses, and beni apologizes once more before changing back to his normal outfit and checking to make sure there was no blood visible, leaving to go tell kamado the news immediately after.

outside, he finds kamado and the leaders/ingo just kind of staring at each other. needless to say the other 3 are pissed at his friend, and that’s about to get a whole lot worse if he says what he’s done out loud. their heads snap to him as he nears, and he just gives kamado a sharp nod with a blank look on his face. kamari’s expression tightens before he nods back, much to the confusion of the others around him.

lady sneasler suddenly starts growling and trying to go after beni, much to the shock of the others. beni knows it’s because the pokémon can smell akari’s blood even after his cleaning, and so does her best to avoid her while her warden tries to stop her. this doesn’t go on for more than a few moments, as they’re cut off by something coming from the passage that beni had just come through - a howl full of pain, sadness, and anger.

while beni was doing his thing, akari had been dying. she felt a whirlwind of emotions flow through her - pain, for she knew how this would effect her dad ingo, and those she had grown close to. sadness, for she didn’t want to die without knowing who she was, or what her future could be. eventually, as she started to feel more sleepy and faint, her vision started to go dark. right as she died, the emotions swirling around all suddenly came into sharp clarity - she was furious.

everyone watches in horror as a figure emerges holding akari’s body. the figure looks like akari, but just slightly…. off. as if it can’t quite keep itself together. wisps of malice come off the new zorua, akari’s hair seeming to float around her, much lighter blue at the tips. the area above her eyes is the same blue, almost like she’s wearing eyeshadow. the most noticeable change, however, are her eyes. they’re bright yellow, filled with fury, and staring at kamado and beni.

ingo is the first to catch on, suddenly realizing why his noble was so angry, and goes to swing at them. lady sneasler, however, holds him back - she knows that this is akari’s time to go after the two, not her warden’s. although, she does definitely share the sentiment. adaman and irida look pissed as well, however can’t seem to tear their eyes from their friend. for the first time, beni and kamado are absolutely terrified.

almost as if she can sense it, akari grins at the two, far too sharp teeth being bared at them. she continues towards them, only stopping once she gets a few feet away. she carefully places her body down, eyes not leaving the two galaxy clan members as she does. she stands up straight, and continues to stare, seemingly planning her next move.

kamado and beni tense, and prepare to fight. however, akari is still akari, even with this newfound anger, and simply says one thing - “leave or else you’ll meet the same fate i did. i will not ask twice.” they hesitate, however akari takes another step forward and they bolt back towards the tunnels.

ingo immediately hugs her, which she gladly returns. he’s still absolutely destroyed by the fact that she was killed, however she’s still here, and that’s all that matters right now. irida and adaman don’t hesitate to hug her the second that ingo lets go. they break apart, and after a moment of silence, they call out some of their pokémon.

even though the almighty sinnohs await them, they take a moment to lay akari’s body to rest, making a simple headstone to mark the grave. they will have time to freak out later, however first they have to fix the red sky.

after, akari will do her best to go to jubilife as little as possible. if she does, she has no qualms with transforming into a zorua and menacing those who may still go after her, as well as purposely mess with kamado and beni. she tends to stay with ingo or the clans, and even befriends the groups or zorua and zoroark in the icelands.

it’s hard, but she learns to live with the constant simmering anger, to not let it explode out and hurt someone on accident. instead, she hones it, learning how to use it to her advantage.

she does eventually return to the present with ingo, living in unova with him and his family. she may remember her past now, but that akari died on top of mount coronet 2 years prior. they do take a trip to sinnoh eventually, where ingo and akari learn that the clans continued to tell others the stories of the warden from the sky, and the sky faller who turned into a pokémon. her grave is still atop the mountain, meticulously cared for by generations of clanspeople from both sides. she returns to unova much happier when she sees how little kamado and beni survived the test of time - almost all records only showing their misdeeds.

as she gets older, the blue goes purple, and one day she wakes up as a zoroark instead. she takes this in stride, adjusting her form appropriately. however she absolutely uses this to scare her dad, uncle, and aunt. she may have died, but that was no excuse not to live her newfound life to the fullest. especially since the unovan zorua and zoroark flock to her and her with pranks lol

Do you think your Dead AU Ash would be friends with my Zoroakari? The whole premise of her AU is she dies and comes back as a Hisuian Zorua (this is oversimplified), and as someone who sees Akari as Dawn from the pokemon anime (sans memories) I think they’d get along. Shared ghost abilities!

Initially i think theres a lot of tense feelings between them, Especially since Ash is iffy with being dead.

After awhile tho i think they'd be friends.

Baby zoroakari thoughts where Akari is killed but instead of coming back as a Zoroark Arceus deposits her on Ingo's doorstep and essentially tells him "either you train her up to battle the frenzied pokemon or you do it yourself" with a heavy emphasis on "train her" and Ingo thinks at first this is just a weird little zorua so he tries to train her but she doesn't like battling so that's. Difficult. And it's made even more difficult when she reaches a certain level and all of a sudden there's a child running around his home instead of a baby pokemon and that said child looks an awful lot like the missing survey member

24. What is an alternative life path [Akari] might have gone down? How different would their life be if they'd made those decisions?

OH LET ME CRACK MY FINGERS AND EXPLAIN TO YOU THE THREE OTHER PATHS THAT COULD'VE HAPPENED FOR DEAR OLD ZOROAKARI HERE (i am vibrating with excitement)

1.) Akari gets sent home by Arceus as normal, eventually reunites with her sister and her old friends after a loooong long time going feral in the wilderness, and with Ingo(and subsequently meets Emmet and Elesa in the process)

2.) Akari is not sent home, ends up wandering the Alabaster Icelands and runs into a pack of wild Zoroark. She ends up becoming their Noble Lady Zoroark(and she is motherfucking H U G E), and that's a whole nother story that I've actually written a fanfic about

3.) Akari is not sent home, doesn't leave Hisui, and doesn't become a Noble. Instead, after a while, she notices Hisuian variants are starting to die out, and becomes a specialized breeder for them. She hides away in a forest near a coast at the very edge of the region, and sets up some pastures of her own to make a sanctuary where Hisuian variants still live to this day

These are all summed up to their most basic components but I have SO SO SO MANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THEM ALL SO IF YOU WANT TO HEAR MORE I HAVE MORE

OH BRILLIANT I CAN SUM UP MY ZOROAKARI AU. BASICALLY IT'S JUST. YKNOW THE POKEMON LEGENDS ARCEUS FEMALE PROTAGONIST. YEAH I MADE HER A ZOROARK

She's technically meant to be a changeling! She was supposed to replace Dawn by possessing her body(courtesy of Zoroark mother) until Dawn's soul collapsed under the weight of Akari's Zorua soul, but that didn't end up happening because Akari ended up being aware of the nature of her existence way too early(woke up while Zoroark mother was putting her in Dawn's body), started hopping out of Dawn's body and letting her take the reigns again, and then shapeshifting into a copy of her, and they ended up living as twins! Johanna was surprisingly chill about this because I like when characters are nice to each other

So Dawn took the champion title at the age of 12, Akari(named after the Hero of Hisui, which she then ironically became) never was much of a battler so she mostly hung out on the sidelines and cheered her sister on

Then when the two of them were 15, Akari gets eeby deebied to Hisui and Dawn has an entire breakdown in every possible way, does everything she can to try and get her back(and fails) and eventually gives up the Champion title back to Cynthia so she doesn't just completely lose her mind

She goes out across the Highlands to look for someone or something to help, mistakenly believing that because she is now baby, wild Pokemon will not try to attack her

We all know the story of PLA(i think), Akari still gets amnesia but she's still in her human disguise which becomes her default, so she doesn't remember that she's a Zorua until the Red Sky, when a Hisuian Zoroark confronts her about her still being alive when the rest of them had to die first to even get a chance, and she doesn't know what it's talking about for a while. Then she decides "if i can't become something else, it means i'm human and they were wrong"

But then she becomes a Zorua. And can't figure out how to turn back because she hasn't shapeshifted or known she could shapeshift for months

She gets beat up three different times and almost swept off the side of a cliff by a Gligar

Eventually Ingo finds her! And that's how he learns she's a Zorua, and subsequently helps her figure out her shapeshifting again! While they were practicing, she takes a form that mimics Ingo, then reverses it to look like "the man in white" which triggers Emmemories!!! Hooray!!! But then they have to go fight Dialga and Palkia at the Temple of Sinnoh so the joy is short-lived

Only a few people personally learn that Akari is a Zorua! Those people are Ingo, Rei, Mai, Lian, and Melli(I'm not counting Volo because it's in the middle of the Giratina fight and it's during his religious insanity so he's not paying that much attention)

The whole of Jubilife sort of vaguely knows Akari is a Fox due to an incident where she forgot to put her human disguise back up after sleeping in her quarters for once and answered the door for someone, complete Zoroark(she evolved sometime during or immediately after the Red Sky), but they've all kind of agreed not to tell Kamado due to the exile incident

Cyllene knows though! She's pretty chill with it as long as Akari doesn't suddenly go feral, which, she doesn't think she will. So it's sort of an open secret in Jubilife

Now from here on out, there are technically four ways the Zoroakari AU can go:

1.) Akari gets sent home by Arceus as normal, eventually reunites with her twin and her old friends, and with Ingo(and subsequently meets Emmet and Elesa in the process)

3.) Akari is not sent home, ends up wandering the Alabaster Icelands and runs into a pack of wild Zoroark. She ends up becoming their Noble Lady Zoroark(and she is motherfucking H U G E), and that's a whole nother story that I've actually written a fanfic about

4.) Akari is not sent home, doesn't leave Hisui, and doesn't become a Noble. Instead, after a while, she notices Hisuian variants are starting to die out, and becomes a specialized breeder for them. She hides away in a forest near a coast at the very edge of the region, and sets up some pastures of her own to make a sanctuary where Hisuian variants still live to this day

Here's hoping it's not exclusive to Japan!
