Not sure what kind of development hell this drama went through since it was filmed back in 2021...but the historical romance drama, Echo of Her Voice, starring Xu Jiaqi, Wei Zheming, Caesar Wu Xize, Zhang Yue, Huang Youming, and Lu Zhaohua, will finally air on September 22, in the year 2024.

Yanxi Palace Princess Adventures is interesting because in terms of screen time and character arc, Fu Kang’an would normally be the ML - he gets more character development and a (sort of) redemption arc, or at least repents, and she clearly likes him more. At the end, it feels like Zhaohua settles for La Wang Duo Er Ji, who has kind of SML energy.

But perhaps it is meant to parallel the original, where Fu Heng was clearly Wei Yingluo’s heart, at least until he married someone else and she moved on. I don’t think she started out loving the emperor - perhaps she grew into that love but she made the choice to join his harem to avenge Rongyin and she is detached enough that she thinks about how to manipulate his actions and emotions and she fully knows she is not (and can’t be) his first priority. I want that loyalty, that devotion, ride-or-die, I-will-always-protect-you, you’re-the-only-one-for-me love for her though. Maybe in their next lives…
