Just saw this: "The iconic images of Kong battling Godzilla have become some of the most memorable moments in modern history."
"APOCALYPTIC MASS AWAKENING" KING GHIDORAH AND "G-DAY" HOKMUTO AND FEMUTO TO HUMANITY: "Were we a fucking joke to you?!"
This brings to mind a bit from Dragon Ball Z Abridged.
Femuto: "Memorable moments," my ass! We cast off the monster masquerade, Godzilla flooded Honolulu, I trashed through Vegas during my post-lunch walk, Hok and I nearly overpowered Godzilla, AND he finished me off with the Kiss of Death! It's bullshit!
Ghidorah: Aww, look at the poor parasite, lost and forgotten to time.
News Reporter: Even the attack of the Mass Awakening of 2019 pales in comparison to this overwhelming clash of Titans. As if comparing a cataclysm to a rampaging toddler.
Ghidorah: BULLSHIT! I HAD THE TITANS OF EARTH AT MY BECK AND CALL AND NEARLY TURNED THE SURFACE OF THIS PLANET INTO A GLASS MARBLE!
Hokmuto: Aww, look at the poor alien, lost and forgotten to time.

I only came across your blog yesterday, but encountering it with your fanart banner at the top feels oddly... preternatural, given what happens in the latest chapter of my fic The Tale of a Cat Most Curious, which releases just today. 8-o
oh my gosh lol! I just bookmarked your fic and have read the first two chapters so far. I love how you leaned into WBY being selfish assholes, because thats who they really are in canon. My banner is from a sonic snapcube parody animatic I made based on episode 7 of vol 9

10 Most Read Authors
Thanks for tagging me @godzilla-reads
"what are your ten most most read authors? and how many books have you read by them? also tag someone who you would like to do this!
instructions: scroll to the bottom of your goodreads shelves and most read authors is listed underneath."
I don't use goodreads but here's what ibknow from my personal collection
1. Seanan McGuire (21 books) Seanan McGuire is an amazing writer and one of the hardest things to do is put down one of her books once you start, it's always a captivating adventure to read one of her books
2. Kay Hooper (16 books) I'm not done with her Bishop/Special Crimes Unit books but oh my gosh, she writes good. If i had to give a short and sweet summary of what she writes, it would come off as a trashy genre. But she writes possibly my favorite romances I have ever read. Once a Thief and Always a Thief are my favorite romace books of all time, and the reason I read them was because of a ML fanfic called Once a thief Always a Thief by, I believe, Saijispellhart, I think that's right, if you read that fic and liked it then you will love Kay Hooper
3. CJ Cherryh (12) this is possibly my favorite writer of science fiction full stop and i can't even get into it here because i would talk for ages, the message here is to read CJ Cherryh's books, for the love of Goddess read them
4. Jimmy Gownley (8 books) Amelia Rules is my favorite comic of all time with a close secomd being the planet Sakaar arc in the hulk comics
5. Diana Rowland (7 books) people just love her white trash zombie books, and foe good reason, but personally i loved her Mark/Blood of the Demon books a whole lot more
6. Victoria Laurie (7 books) i loved the first book in her ghost hunter mystery books, then 2 and 3 were a slog, and then the rest were good again, not sure what happened to the second and third book
7. Marrion Zimmer Bradley (7 books) ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew ew what the fuck is up with her ew ew ew ew ew ew this is what passed for feminist writing back then?! I've read incel rants with more respect for women than some of the stuff she writes!
Anyway she's an ok science fiction writer with a way of writing really engaging stories with a strong narrative voice, don't read her books, they really are not kind to women
8. Michelle Tea (5 books) go read mermaid in chelsea creek, go do it, right now, this is a demand, read mermaid in chelsea creek, cry about it and then come back to me and tell me what you thought about it, do it now
My favorite book from her is Valencia btw, an excellent memoir
9. Kim Harrison (4 books) don't ask me anything about her books, i could not tell you, i know what happened because i read them but the memories are jumbled up with details from the October Day novels
10. Stephen king (4 books) Stephen King is, ehhhh, i read him more for the status that he was a prolific writer and had a lot of popular books, the first one i read, which is still my favorite by the way, is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
Honorable mentions that i just recommend you go read because i love their books
Eileen Myles shouldn't need and introduction and if she does then you are living a worse life for it
Rob Reger who wrote the Emily The Strange books
Clive Barker who i have read quite a bit but excluded him for the same of smaller names (but you included stephen king) shut up
Wendy Holden, she didn't write many books but the ones she wrote were good
Dana Fredsti, her plague books are like brownies
Jeanien Frost, imagine if Kim Harrison was more memorable
Now i'll tag @scham-wcan @vivaciousarcanist @zerm2v0hg @far-side-skies @grimm-the-6th @overlordneon @transgressivepistoleer @mx-kit

My new Tumblr account.
I opened it when I had a serious problem that stopped me logging into this one and I was led to believe the issue wouldn't be resolved (Tumblr support have resolved it for me now :)).
But in any case, the above is now my new "main" Tumblr where I'll post new things including story updates. ;)

My personal thoughts on 'Kong: Survivor Instinct' since I watched a YouTube walkthrough: (Spoilers below)
-
Good news for you! They finally did something with the Titan DNA market again, even if it's not much.
Personally, I'm loving Titanus Abaddon's design and how she uses the giant web strands to sense wherever the player is. :3 Also, if you haven't looked up what her in-game Orca Sigma profile says about how she spawns her plague-weavers... it's delightful nightmare fuel. (Abaddon the Zmeyevich: I told you! Spiders suck!)
A woman called the events of 2014 "G-Day" - Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has been acknowledged by another Monsterverse installment! :)
Speaking of which, the old lady sitting in her half-destroyed house's living room that's literally missing half the walls, saying she thinks she's literally as safe here as anywhere since the Titans rose, was a very sobering scene.
Even if Jonah's still in the wind at the end, watching the protagonist knock him over the head was pretty gratifying. :)
Also, spoilers again: Stacy Martin is Emma Russell 2.0, with all that entails, except that Stacy didn't even lose anyone in her backstory, and she doesn't get what she deserves at the end like Emma did even though she's no less unrepentant. :P :P
YES THE TITAN DNA MACGUFFIN SEES USE EVEN IF IT'S JUST A LITTLE!
Oh yeah, I do like how freaky Abaddon is between her design and her drones. The web thing makes perfect sense too, since iirc real life spiders use the vibrations in the web to tell whether prey has been caught in the web, a potential mate approaches, or if the web just needs repairs. And, having seen a peek of her Orca profile... the paranoia fuel for an arachnophobe like me is FUCKING REAL.
Woohoo!
I feel like the MonsterVerse needs more somber moments like this, because as awesome as the big monsters are, they're undeniably dangerous to be around.
FUCK YEAH!
Oh dear god, not another Emma...

Out of curiosity if I may, was the Many having the same eyes as undead!Godzilla from GMK a deliberate mythology-gag, or just a brilliant fluke on your part?
Huh... that was definitely a fluke; I think I was imagining the Resident Evil first zombie shot when writing it, but it's been long enough since writing it that I'm not sure...

Decided to give this a try.
Wow. Was not expecting this result.
@hrodvitnon, @gorillageek27, @zerm2v0hg, @tosho89, and anyone else who'd also like to give it a try.

Kind of a hot take for you, but I think that, Lee Shaw's hubris aside, his "what if Godzilla had lost" argument holds more water than Serizawa's 2014 "let them fight" argument because of Ford Brody.
Godzilla was losing the fight against the Mutos (probably because the Mutos had grown hyper-strong on the eaten and stolen clockwork-nukes' radiation, if one wants to explain away how the King of the Monsters could have performed so poorly against the Monsterverse's Starter Villains). And Ford causing a gas explosion which turned the battle's tide was technically human intervention, a.k.a. the very thing that Serizawa was preaching AGAINST when he uttered his Wham Line to Stenz.
No offence to Serizawa, but I think KotM-Serizawa was more on-the-ball than 2014-Serizawa was to the Monsterverse's reality. When he talked about symbiotic coexistence, and when he took a page out of Ford's book by reviving Godzilla.
I'll concede, wisdom and intelligence are not the same. Maybe Shaw had a point, and perhaps Serizawa learned enough from 2014 to adjust his stance accordingly in a way that allowed him to ultimately revive Godzilla like the boss he is in a moving self-sacrifice.
...I don't wanna give Shaw credit for it though because I honestly don't care much for him, so while Shaw can brag about how he totally changed Serizawa's mind, Serizawa's just like "actually Ford Brody's intervention changed my mind." I'm biased, I'm sorry.

With the new info about that Monsterverse game that's dropped, do you already have some ideas about what the Abraxasverse version of Abaddon is like?
Abaddon the Zmeyevich: [perks up]
Sorry, not you. I mean Titanus Abaddon.
Abaddon the Zmeyevich: [sulks] Stupid gnat Heretic Titan with the same stupid name that stupid Mr. Simmons gave me. I hate stupid spiders anyway!
I want to wait until more concrete information is available, but based on the "Titanus Abaddon is unleashed and no Titan is safe" tweet, I'm inclined to think Abaddon might be among the more dangerous Destroyer Titans; maybe he's a parasite like the MUTOs, maybe he's got a hyper-venomous bite or Shelob-like stinger, maybe he's like those nightmare spiders from hell that will happily munch on whole-ass BIRDS that get caught in their webs. We won't know for sure until Monarch: Declassified or Kong: Survival Instinct drop...
Abaddon Zmeyevich: Ooh, "no Titan is safe," fuck off with that, I'm a half-alien antichrist with the remains of a killer robot at my disposal! Spiders don't have shit on me!

I recently saw the 'Monty Python' 'Black Knight' scene, and a thought occurred to me:
Since KotM makes Ghidorah's regenerating abilities out to be part of what makes them so alien, imagine an omake where the Black Knight scene is how the first ever time Godzilla beat Ghidorah in ancient times went! xD
It'd be even funnier in an Abraxasverse concept because, unlike the Black Knight, Abraxas-Ghidorah is being completely sincere when they're verbally brushing off Godzilla dismembering them even if Godzilla hasn't had enough experience with them to learn that yet! XD
(Very sorry for the wait, I didn't have my meds for like two weeks and focusing was difficult for that time but now I have them and OH BOY I NEED TO CHECK THAT INBOX!)
Godzilla: Now accept your defeat!
Ghidorah: 'TIS BUT A SCRATCH.
Godzilla: A scratch? Your wing's off!
Ghidorah: NO, IT ISN'T.
Godzilla, points at severed wing: Well, that's that, then?
Ghidorah: WE'VE HAD WORSE. THIS IS BUT A LOVE TAP COMPARED TO THE THINGS GIGAN HAS DONE TO US...

No headcanons this time per se, just some food for thought for you: do you imagine that Abraxasverse Kraken/Na Kika's tentacles might have their own personality quirks, like real-life octopi's tentacles do because of their de-centralised neurology?
Oh, that's actually a cool idea. Like one tentacle is always grabbing and touching something out of curiosity, another baps at anything that gets too close like a bap-happy cat, one will grab at something for Na Kika to munch on and do nothing else if the food is good but YEET it if the food is bad, and so on. It's fuel for interesting interactions and silliness alike!

I think three of the main problems with Godzilla seeming to get more violent in GvK onwards are that:
(a) Whereas in 2014, Godzilla clearly dodged around manmade obstacles like the USS Saratoga and the skyscrapers in Hawaii, and it seemed even on the Golden Gate Bridge like he was trying to ignore the military's bombardments until they started reaching his gills; in GvK, Godzilla came across as a bit more hostile when he was swiping down and atomic-breathing jets in Pensacola, and when he smashed his back through that car-filled bridge in Hong Kong with his arrival, plus I saw the footage in the GxK:TNE trailer of Evolved Godzilla knifing his dorsal spines through a vehicle-filled bridge again.
(b) This effect was even more heightened by how KotM just before GvK and GxK:TNE followed up on 2014's portrayal by making Godzilla out to be even more heroic than 2014 did, with him seemingly saving the Argo and Madison with good timing, and with how the only city that he destroys as collateral is already evacuated anyway, and finally with what the end credits said about him actively telling the other Titans to stay away from population centres. That probably caused people to forget about the tsunami Godzilla caused in 2014 and focus on his avoidance of unnecessary collateral in the first two films, when they were about to go into watching GvK.
(c) GvK and GxK:TNE are the films which start to feature Godzilla crossing paths with and antagonising Kong aggressively, who again the MV humanises more than the non-ape Titans, even if Godzilla had other reasons besides the "Godzilla's an asshole" take for being aggressive with Kong.
I feel like in GvK, Godzilla causing more needless collateral damage to humans can probably be explained by him feeling negatively about what the humans who once worshipped him did with MechaG, just five years (a time period which is probably an eyeblink by Godzilla's standards) after Godzilla and the modern humans fought side-by-side to stop Ghidorah, which was ALSO a world-threatening problem that humans set loose in the first place. When the military fired on Godzilla in 2014 and when they dropped the Oxygen Destroyer on him in KotM, Godzilla probably understood that the modern humans knew not what they do at the times because they'd forgotten their species' past with him and his role in nature - in GvK, humanity has no such excuse anymore, after everything that happened between them and Godzilla in KotM.
(Seriously, if I was in Godzilla's shoes at the end of GvK, I would've taken that incident as a sign that my planetary house needs some overdue pest control.)
Fair points. Me, I'd like the next MonsterVerse movie to have a greater focus on Godzilla himself so we can really get his perspective on things, and less Kong bias to make him look bad by comparison.

Honestly, as biased as that Scylla take on Twitter is, I think it could be an interesting "darker shade of grey" take on canon-Scylla if she actually was trying to grow stronger because she knew the Skar King+Shimo were coming and she wanted to fight them off... and she just thought she could use the same opportunity to make yet another attempt at stealing Godzilla's crown for herself plus not caring about how her heating up the surface world impacted non-Titan life.
Now that's a line of logic I can agree with; Scylla would want to be strong enough to take on Skar King and Shimo if she wants Godzilla out of the way.
