Sometimes it seems like the prevailing ideas of today state that "damsels in distress" are *bad*. Terrible. An archaic example of misogyny, belonging only in fairytales written centuries ago (and condemned even there). And while I agree that it is *quite* wrong to think that the ONLY role for a damsel is Distressed, I also feel like it's gotten to the point where a heroine is shamed if she *cannot* save herself. Where being in a bad spot you need help to get out of is seen as weak, stupid, and unrealistic.

I think that's really wrong, too.

No human being has all the answers. No mortal individual can truly save themselves, not in the eternal scheme of things anyway.

We are all In Distress until we accept Christ as our savior from sin.

Don't give me a heroine who "don't need no man". Give me someone who *has* been saved, and who is *happy* instead of frustrated that they didn't "save themselves". Give me someone who is grateful for the second chance at life they have been given, and who spends the time they have left helping others, because instead of living a self-centered life, they want to show the world the same kind of help and love they have been shown.
