Okay so my oc for a game on Saturday is a literal 12 year old child tiefling cleric, with an 18 wis but intelligence and strength are his dump stats and I happen to roll two 8s, so he’s weak (like a child) and kinda stupid but crazy tough, wise as hell and deeply in tune with his goddess. And he’s really really new to being a cleric so it’s basically like ‘let’s try this thing... oh shit that worked’. Anyway can you tell I’m excited about Excellence “Lenny” Zazira and the wild time he’s gonna be to play.

i’ve heard a lot of people talk about the EXCELLENT potential of a high intelligence/low wisdom dnd character (i.e. an brilliant academic who keeps setting their dumb ass on fire because they always store their wand in their back pocket)

but i’ve not seen any posts about the equal potential of a high wis/low int character (i.e. someone incredibly perceptive who gives deep and meaningful reassurance to their friends and then 5 minutes later asks what a can opener is)

I commissioned @sunshinemage to draw my gal Zazira with her pet weasel, N’oodle, and I’m just... *heart eyes motherfucker* over here. Rory’s use of purples always leaves me drooling, so Zaz was the perfect choice for my first piece! Thank you again, sooo much - and you all should definitely check out Rory’s commissions!

A scene from the DND campaign I'm currently in and obsessed with right now. Our DM may be using his NPCs against me. Zaz, despite her apathy, may be breaking. xD

"Would you mind playing for me for a bit?”

Zazira shifted uncomfortably, running her fingers absently along the holes of her flute. “I don’t usually have an audience, but--”

“It was a wonderful melody, I would love to hear more," General Artrax Glengoyle said as he sat down beside her, no malice in his tone.

The drow, despite her dark skin, flushed, eyeing the protection dome behind them where the rest of her party rested under the protection of that peculiar sword, Totogi, then her flute, before meeting the General’s eyes once more. Many people had passed her as she played, not once asking about the tune; so soft, coming from someone so harsh. Her companions, with whom she resigned herself to travel with, had not once asked about it in their time together. Yet here was this stranger, at once harsh and soft, just like she, looking out over the night fields as he patiently awaited her answer. She sighed, nodding once before closing her eyes as she brought the flute back to her lips.

The soft tune floated through the rain-dampened air, reminding her of something she struggled to put her finger on, from a time long passed. They sat in the silence of the night, accompanied only by the melody as it came forth from her with little effort. Stealing a glance after a time, Zazira found the man eased back on his hands, his legs in front of him, quiet, with his eyes closed and a smile on his lips. The tension from his shoulders, like a cat in a houseful of dogs, had dissipated and Zazira couldn't help the odd satisfaction that came from bringing someone else just a bit of joy.

After a time, the melody came to an end and the drow lowered the flute to her lap. Beside her the General shifted, coming to his feet, giving her a gracious nod.

"Thank you," he said softly. "That was very beautiful. In this horrible land, it is still nice to find moments of joy, beauty.. and art." With that he nodded once more and turned to leave her, returning to the protection dome.

Zazira watched after the man, brows furrowed, but a bit lighter for the first time in as long as she could recall.

Week #2 of Inktober 2019!

while i’ve still been doing a bit of fenhawke goodness (along with organizing @afterkirkwall), i also finally started my first dnd campaign! this is my gal zazira, she’s a drow ranger with a bit of a.. lost past, so to speak. i’ve been having a lot of fun designing her and figuring out her backstory... and having an excuse to buy lots of pretty dice. xD
