Darth -- no, formerly Darth -- Maul was all too familiar with the stench of a Sith; it wafted off of a Force-user, wrapped around those around them, suffocating them without them even realizing it. Most who had come in contact with this woman probably hadn’t even known, hadn’t realized the power she held. It was a feeling the Dathomiri knew all too well.

But still, it wasn’t complete. The Force whispered to him, much as he knew it whispered to her, and what he heard...was an echo. The echo of a power far greater, resonating within her being, but not belonging to her, no, belonging to someone else, a shadow, a dominating void...

   “...What a dark air you carry about you...do you ever feel choked by it, I wonder...?”

Dark Side user or no, either way, Maul wasn’t going to expose himself fully...not yet. Not to someone following in the footsteps of something like that.
