"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep." I think that any artist has self doubt at times but you have to remind yourself that this is YOUR creation and it WILL speak to someone. Stick with your instinct because it is usually right. Granted, sometimes it is wrong but I just try to shrug it off. Learn from it and move on. Recently my instinct was wrong and I found myself laughing over it. This cracked me up because I married an engineer! The creative mind mixed with the analytical mind makes marriage a fun! I also say it's handy having my engineer around because he stretches my canvases and builds my frames. I can also say that they are PERFECT because - he is an engineer. Might have to pour a drink before I travel to my bottomless "dark places"... it is sometimes hard to face the darkness but there can be a wonderful sense of healing. I also think it takes a lot of courage to show your art. Every time I am in an exhibit I have a feeling of "excited terror" which usually leaves me 100% depleated.
