you knock on megumi's door, your heartbeat ringing loudly in your ears. you're not sure why you're so nervous. you and him have been dating for a few weeks now, but you can't help it. just the mere idea of him is enough to wake the butterflies in your stomach. It's odd to think of how you used to mistake these feelings for hatred. but you two are beyond that now; that part of your lives is over. megumi opens the door with a grin on his face, and it's off-putting to anyone but you—he can't not smile around you anymore.

"hey megs-"

your sentence is interrupted by him cupping your face and fervently locking his lips with yours. kissing you as hungrily and urgently, if not even more, as he did the night you confessed. you push him off of you.

"jeez, can you at least let me say hi first, stalker?"

"sorry," he says flippantly, not actually sorry at all, as his face flushes bright pink.

"so what's on the agenda today?" you ask as you walk past him into his house. "some more horror movies, maybe-"

megumi stops you in your tracks by grabbing you by your waist, his arms wrapping around you, and drawing you into him, your back flush against his chest. "are you gonna kiss me back yet? you already said hi."

"you're awfully affectionate today, megs." you swivel around in his hold to face him, pushing a few strands of his hair out of his face as you entreat, "let me guess yuji and nobara aren't home?"

megumi sheepishly averts his attention to the floor.

"knew it. I have to practically fight you just to get a kiss when they're here."

you gawk, feigning offense. "oh, so loving me is embarrassing?"

his gaze snaps back to your face, worried you're serious, but when he sees the shit-eating grin you're adorning, megumi rolls his eyes. "ok, you know what I meant. stop it."

"I know," you say cheerfully, before finally leaning in and giving him what he wants—sort of. you purposely pull away the moment you feel him melt into and deepen the kiss.

"now chop chop, these movies won't watch themselves!"

"I hate you."

"oh, I'm sure you do, stalker."

Inumaki, nobara, and yuji are all giggling like crazy as maki unlocks the door, while yuuta attempts to shush them, considering it’s late and they are trying to be stealthy here.

with the door now unlocked, maki doesn’t open it; instead, she turns around and scolds, “can you guys shut up?”

“oh, cmon, babe, aren’t you excited? we’re about to catch megumi and y/n being all lovey-dovey!” nobara pouts, suddenly hanging onto her girlfriend's arm like a koala.

"well, we’re not gonna catch anyone if you guys don’t be quiet,” yuuta quips under his breath.

maki nods. "thank you, yuuta.”

"you guys are no fun, oh my god,” Inumaki says through a quiet groan.

“for real!” yuji exclaims, slightly exasperated. “we didn’t suffer through weeks of them being insufferable just for us to never see them happy together!”

“do you think maybe this is why,” maki says, unimpressed.

“maki, my love, shut up,” nobara gruffs before placing a chaste kiss on maki’s cheek. "you're literally an accomplice right now, so don’t pretend you’re not trying to catch them being losers either... now open the door, cmon we’re wasting time!”

"yeah, megumi has probably already sensed our presence by now,“ yuji whines.

yuuta’s brows knit together, looking and sounding slightly concerned as he asks, “what?”

yuji shrugs nonchalantly. "yeah, I don't know; he has like a sixth sense.”

maki rolls her eyes. “or maybe it’s because you guys aren't discreet at all.”

“oh my fucking god, maki, just open the damn door,” Inumaki snaps. “all this yapping, and for what?”

nobara nods. ��yeah, babe, listen to Inumaki.”

“dear lord, help us all,” maki murmurs quietly as she turns back toward the door.

the three of them are all attempting to control their giggles as maki and yuuta eye each other. yuuta merely shrugs, and maki sighs before quietly opening the front door. Immediately, it’s dark; the only light coming in is the porch light from the front door.

“are they not home?” yuji asks through a whisper, squinting as if that will speed up his eyes adjustment to the darkness.

nobara frowns. “they have to be; they said they would!”

“fuck, maybe they found us out,” Inumaki adds.

maki suggests blankly, “have we considered turning on a light yet, maybe.” 

yuuta walks toward the light switch, mumbling, "I'll do it.”

It takes a minute for everyone's eyes to adjust, but once they do, everyone goes wide-eyed at the scene in front of them. you and megumi are asleep on the couch. you’re on top of him, lying on his chest, and buried in his arms. small content smiles on both of your faces.

yuji chokes back a squeal. “no way, no way, no way!!”

“oh my god, maki, hold me; I'm gonna collapse,” nobara quickly says before throwing herself into her girlfriend's arms.

maki stumbles slightly as she mutters, "I might collapse too; this is sickening.”

yuuta can’t help but smile. "aw, wait, this is so cute."

“right?” Inumaki instantly agrees. “look at them cuddling asleep, oh my god," he pauses momentarily. "I suddenly have the urge to kick y/n.”

maki’s glare practically burns holes into Inumaki. "don't you dare.”

"If you touch me, I'll kill you.”

everyone’s head snaps toward you, slightly startled from not expecting you to say anything considering you were asleep—or at least they thought you were.

“oh my god, haha!" Inumaki laughs nervously. “heyyy, we were just talking about you.”

you roll your eyes and slowly lift your head to look at all of them, before gently resting your chin back down on megumi’s chest. “you guys are so loud; maybe work on that next time you wanna spy on us.”

“we tried telling them to be quiet,” yuuta explains.

maki adds, “they don’t know what that is.”

you scoff, “clearly.”

“Is megs awake?” yuji asks.

“nope,” you say, quickly glancing at megumi, who’s still sound asleep. “you think I'd still be on his chest right now if he were?”

nobara half-shrugs in agreement. “you’re right, he’d go into cardiac arrest... shy ass bitch.”

you can't help but snort, which you immediately regret because megumi stirs awake.

“who are you talking to?” he slurs with his eyes still closed.

"shh, no one, go back to sleep,” you coo.

megumi’s face scrunches up, evidently suspicious, and the moment you see his eyes begin to open, you slap your hands over them.

“y/n, stop covering my eyes.”

"I don't know what you’re talking about.”

you barely have a second to process what's happening before megumi sits up, your hands dropping off his face as you grab onto his shirt to save yourself from falling. he also wraps his arms around your waist to help. now sitting up, with you in his lap, he looks around and finds the rest of the group smiling like idiots at the whole ordeal. megumi flushes deep red as he turns to look back at you, who’s smiling menacingly.

he gulps, not liking the way you’re looking at him. “y/n…”

although you’re already on his lap and in his arms, the force with which you slam yourself against him pushes him back down onto the couch, and now back in your original positions, you smother kisses all over his face. megumi somehow flushes an even darker red as he attempts to push you off him in embarrassment, and his embarrassment only grows worse when he can hear yuuta, yuji, Inumaki, and nobara either cooing or laughing while maki is pretending to gag.

"I thought you didn’t hate me anymore,” megumi asks through a pout, still attempting to evade your kisses.

"I don't,” you say before pressing your lips against his.

megumi kisses you back and uses the opportunity to snake his hands up and grab your face, pulling it away from his and effectively stopping you from kissing him anymore. “then why are you torturing me like this.”

you simply smile. “cause you're cute when you get all embarrassed.”

megumi pushes you off of him and onto the couch as he stands up, scoffing, “fuck off.”

you laugh as you sit up properly. "you wound me, stalker; I can feel my soulmate mark fading as we speak.”

megumi looks down at you blankly. “you're literally not funny. like at all.”

nobara seems to suddenly appear out of thin air by megumi’s side, slinging her arm over his shoulders as she coos, “and everyone booed when I said me and y/n would marry into the same family.”

maki rolls her eyes and pulls her girlfriend off megumi. “neither of us are married, nobara.”

“yet…”

megumi rolls his eyes. “shut up, nobara.”

yuji, who has just been enjoying recording the bickering between you and megumi up until now, lifts his head from his phone. “hey megs?”

“what?”

"have you told gojo anything? cause like he's asking me how you are, and I don't wanna spill the beans…”

"wow, you're closing your fat ass mouth for once?”

you don't hesitate to kick megumi in the shins for that and scold him through clenched teeth, telling him to be nice.

yuji is unphased. "don't play with me right now. your life is in my hands.”

megumi clears his throat. "...I'll text him.”

Walking Down Vibrant Streets

Decided to do a sort of 4 star card style drawing of Yuuji Itadori within my pjsk+jjk AU idea! :Dc

Okay! So basically the context is that this is sort of an event story-ish like idea where it would be Junpei focus with Yuuji and Rui being the theoretical 4 stars within the set.

So the event story would definitely gonna happen early on within the timeline, where Yuuji, Megumi, Junpei, and Yuuta formed a group in a form of their afterschool music video club.

Junpei is tasked by Megumi to get the fitting film and setting for the music that was finished. Junpei struggles to think of a good setting due to the song more heavy elements of electric and techno instrumentals. It was then Yuuji suggested that Vivid Street would be a good place to go, since the music reminds him of the same songs that Akito would sing.

Junpei is a bit hesitant to go since to him, the place seems dangerous, in which Yuuji reassures him that it would be fine and that they could ask An to be their guide since she lives there. Thus Junpei finally agrees so they plan for a filming session for the next available day they are all available.

Rui ended up tagging along unintentionally, due to seeing Yuuji, Junpei and An meeting up at Shibuyaba beforehand, in which Yuuji suggested Rui to join them since he believes that Rui’s expertise as a group director would help them. An agreeing due to her firsthand experience of seeing Rui directing a wedding before.

Junpei was about to reject this idea saying that Rui probably have other things to do (but in reality Junpei doesn’t wanna be around Rui due to guilt), but Rui wholeheartedly agrees and joins them for the filming session.

Thus all four of them explore Vivid Streets~ :3c

Of course there’s a bit more to this story, but for now I’ll just say the part that applies to the art. Since this post is getting a bit long now. •3•;

i cant stop thinking about like. childhood friend yuuta and asking him to have sex because you're sexually frustrated but he's been in love with you since he was little and has had eyes for you forever

like. anon its been haunting my brain. you're not really thinking twice. you've always taken care of yuuta (chronic crybaby who couldn't fight to save his life for most of your childhood) so it became sort of natural for you to treat him that way. you're a literally rougher and more intimidating than he is

yuuta wants you to treat him like a guy. sure he's younger than you but he hates that he's been stuck with the whole little brother thing forever. you're like.. a recently graduated student looking for a job and yuuta is a college sophmore. and in your rush to graduate and get a career you are simply so pent up you're going to go insane.

so you're bothering him in his apartment (he lives with inumaki) after submitting what feels like. the hundreth job application. you shut your computer and sigh.

"yuuta."

"huh? do you need something?"

"lets just have sex."

you broke him. he thinks he misheard so when you repeat it only to say the same thing he thinks he might've died and gone to heaven. you want to do what? with who???? he turns around and he looks like he's about to sob and throw up he is sooo overwhelmed. like duh he wants to have sex with you but he is So In Love With You that if you go near his dick he might start losing it.

"y-you want to...to have sex with me?"

"yeah. you're good looking. i know you work out and wont hang me out to dry. and you're not seeing anyone right?"

"no! definitely not. n-not seeing anyone and wont in the near future,"

"then its a perfect set up. im a good lay i promise,"

yuuta wants to be like... you could be awful and he'd still probably cream himself. he's not gonna fix his mouth to say that but hes thinking it. the prospect is so overwhelming he literally has to close his eyes. he wants to do it really bad. but again, romantic attachments. he's really considering if he can handle simply being your sex partner when he knows very well he wants to kiss you and hold hands.

so he says "i dont like sleeping with people im not dating," which is a flat-out lie. he doesn't care and never has. but then to his surprise, you just giggle and go.

"that's so like you. that's fine. sure, lets date while we're at it. 2 for 1."

and that makes him fucking LOSE it. there's no way its that easy right???? RIGHT???? but you're all smiles and you don't look like you're being sarcastic. he's going to die early or he's definitely already dead. this has to be heaven, he's literally rubbing his eyes. you sit up and sort of gesture him over to you

and he RUSHES towards you. collapses in your arms and feels his chest squeeze where you giggle. you kinda grab his face in your hands, thumb swiping at his tears.

"you grew up to be pretty handsome, yuuta. what a face. the girls must like you on campus, hm?"

"i dont care what they think." which is true. he doesn't at all.

"you care about what i think though?"

yes. a lot. he is so happy that you called him handsome he is going t collapse, but he just nods kinda meekly. and then you kiss him and he just. combusts. fizzles out like soda on a computer. brain immediately empty.

"well if it matters, then you're pretty handsome. lemme see what other faces you make, okay?"

he resigns himself to be the best fuck of your life because he is so determined to make you fall for him right then and there. he will do Anything and will not the let the opportunity slip him by.

honestly..yuuta’s unhealthy platonic feelings about megs makes me wonder gojo’s reaction bc i imagine him being so insufferable like he just assumes that “omg my distant relative have a crush on my emotional support child”

So I’m never gonna get there in the fic because sea glass gardens cuts off pre season 1, but I like to headcanon that Yuuta desperately wants yuuji to like him (he’s megumis friend and also Yuuta feels an obligation to look out for him because they were both sentenced to death) but yuuji is just NOT having it because he’s the one person in the world that yuuji feels almost seething jealousy for. He is not a jealous person. He has never been a jealous person. But Yuuta is living his perfect life, which is a fact that Yuuta would be surprised to learn, because he is not living anyone’s perfect life. From yuujis perspective, Yuuta is:

Inexplicably close to Megumi. Megumi is somehow his boy. Yuuji didn’t think Megumi would tolerate being anyone’s boy.

(He doesn’t tolerate it it’s somehow the best and worst kept secret in the school. Everyone knows Megumi is Yuuta’s boy except for Megumi himself. Megumi insists Yuuta’s like this with everyone while panda silently shakes his head where Megumi can’t see him.)

He’s got some kind of secret history with Megumi that no one will talk about (since I imagine that the second years would legitimately keep their word and not talk about what the Zenin did to him behind his back) but whatever it is it makes Megumi trust and rely on him more than anyone else??? How is the son of a bitch doing it???

He was also sentenced to death but got it suspended and like. Yeah. Yuuji would like to live that dream existence.

Considering canon Megumi didn’t tell them he had an entire sister until they were at his old school and people were asking after her, I doubt that even waterboarding could get out of him “yeah so I met the second years when my bio family violated the no contact protocol that started because of how dangerously abusive they were and basically tortured me for a week, up to the point of my Actual Death. I was blind for a while. I guess okkotsu senpais protective of me because when we first met he Literally Had To Restart My Heart and Lungs. Also we held hands multiple times in the immediate aftermath.” So I think Yuuji and Nobara would be aware that there’s something weird about how Yuuta and Megumi met but have absolutely no idea what that weird thing is.

I have a serious reading of Kamo and a self indulgent reading of Kamo and a Kamo that’s somewhere in the middle.

The serious reading of Kamo is that Kamo was a kid who grew up in a bad situation with very little control over his own life and saw Megumi as the one who could possibly understand him. They both were born outside of their clans but their inherited technique had the ability to elevate them to clan heir. He persisted in trying to compliment him and form common grounds with him out of isolation and a desire for someone to understand his lot in life. Megumi, meanwhile, would see Kamo as exactly who he doesn’t want to become. Kamo has accepted his place in his clan; megumi is violently rejecting it. He doesn’t want to be the same as Kamo because he doesn’t want to be anywhere near the Zenin clan.

The thing is that out of all the characters, Kamo’s really the best one we have to kind of represent the more common views of the jujutsu world. like, he very consistently is shown to be able to make his own assessments about what judgment call the higher ups and the wider jujutsu elite are going to make or expect, and part of it is his desire to fulfill his role as kamo clan heir. And Kamo? Accepts out of hand that Megumi is going to be formally brought into the Zenin clan once he graduates.

Like, he's in the fight during the goodwill event, and he's just like "yeah so when we both graduate we'll both be working to support a major clan in the jujutsu world" and megumi's like "the hell are you talking about. i'm going to kill you with this elephant."

It is probably a common expectation that gojo keeping Megumi from the Zenin clan is not going to stretch into perpetuity. Like. Right now, megumi is a minor. Gojo very easily can control who has access to him. When he’s an adult working in the society, the same trick of preventing all contact isn’t gonna work. Those are his coworkers now. They’re going to get more and more opportunities to bring him back into the fold. The Zenin are just playing a waiting game to get Megumi back and everyone sort of has just accepted that fact.

Kamo is what the Zenin clan expect Megumi to one day be for them, and I think it puts Megumi a bit at odds with him. Megumi has no interest in living the way Kamo does, and a little internalized fear about it happening anyway. Refusing the Zenin clan is the only control he’s ever really exerted over his life and future. He never got to pick being a jujutsu sorcerer, but he chose not to go with them. All of kamos priorities and mindset remind Megumi of all the things he’s messed up about, and it sets them at odds.

The self indulgent reading is that Kamo had a huge crush on Megumi and spent the entire goodwill event trying to execute his four year long plan towards holding his hand only to be thwarted by the fact that Megumi was completely dazzled by a himbo he knew for less than two weeks three months ago.

And the reading above is just the serious reading with the added fact that Kamo also had a huge crush on Megumi.

The thing with Mai partially came from something that Gege apparently released as background lore. In the goodwill event, Mai says that she never told maki when she had her first love, and i was like "that's weirdly specific, I wonder who that is" and then I googled it, and the answer was apparently either Megumi or Maki herself, and I said, "Huh, I Don't Like That" and decided we weren't doing that.

Now, to be clear, I do get making that decision on a level as a writer. Like, the Zenin clan is enormously fucked up and explicitly practices intermarriage. That is the kind of thing where you may include it because it's so fucked up and perfectly exemplifies how fucked up it is. a clan that explicitly is practicing incest is going to heavily skew how relationships amongst family members develop and form and it's going to be a fucked up dynamic amongst closely related people.

But also I Don't Like It And We're Not Doing That.

I did like the idea of Megumi and Maki occupying a somewhat similar place in Mai's mind. Like, Maki is in a league of her own, there's too much history there for anyone to come close to her in a relationship, but Mai's fondest memories of Maki were specifically with Maki occupying a sort of companion and protector role. Maki was in the same "level" as mai. They were both vulnerable kids in a bad situation who were looked down on by their family. They were both fast tracked to be servants. But Maki was the brave one, the capable one, the one who guided her when she was afraid and promised to always be there, and that's where a lot of mai's complex emotions around maki come from: mai was afraid and maki was strong and maki was there to hold her hand, and then suddenly she wasn't anymore.

Once I put Megumi in the Zenin compound as a little kid (since it's unclear what contact Megumi had with his bio family pre-season 1 and how extensive it was), I knew that 1) the zenin would not be putting him anywhere near Mai and Maki, and 2) that I wanted them to have met anyway.

So I liked the idea of Maki and Megumi occupying similar spaces in mai's mind because they both had briefly been viewed by Mai as companions and protectors. Megumi's contact with Mai was way more limited than Maki's was, but Megumi sort of swept into her life at a time where Mai really did need it most.

Mai would have been right at the age where most kids get their technique, if they get any at all, and we can sort of assume that mai may have figured out what hers was late if Maki didn't know about it. She just failed to get the ten shadows technique, and was a freshly confirmed failure in terms of power. She was just feeling the sting of her family's rejection, and Megumi, meanwhile, was the one who was supposed to be the most special and blessed of them all.

And he was the only one who didn't reject her out of hand, other than her sister. He stuck his own neck out to protect her. They all played together. There's not a lot of good memories than any of the three of them have on the Zenin compound, but I think that all of them secretly thought of that day as one of the best they can remember from childhood.

And it sort of was a huge deal for Mai. Everyone was treating her like she was dirt under their heel, but there was Megumi, the presumptive heir to the clan, the Ten Shadows himself, and he played with her. He was her friend. I think that would have been kind of a landmark moment for little mai. not only is that the acceptance and kindness she desperately needed, but I think it was also sort of source of hope for her that she could have a place in the Zenin compound one day without it being utter garbage. Megumi was assumed to take over the entire clan one day, and he was kind to her. He was her friend. He didn't let Naoya treat her badly, when Naoya was the one who was likely going to be heir if Megumi hadn't inherited the ten shadows. Naoya was at the top of the food chain, but Megumi still stood up for her, even though her own parents wouldn't have. So maybe when he grew up and became clan head, he wouldn't let people mistreat her and maki anymore. They could all be happy together, and Mai couldn't imagine a future where she and maki got to be happy before. Even though the clan leadership cracked down pretty hard on them for that stunt, it didn't make a dent in how overwhelmingly happy it made her.

Megumi going no contact probably would have been a huge blow, especially considering her age. She lost her hope and her only friend who wasn't her sister in one fell swoop, and she really was too young to have the tools to understand just how much Megumi needed to be kept away from her family for his own safety.

Mai, back then, was living in such a warped life that she didn't really realize how bad her family was, especially to Megumi. and that's not so much a comment as to how bad it was for her there versus him, but more that she had very little context as to what his life there was like. she was never supposed to meet him. She mostly heard about him secondhand, and that's all being filtered through the zenin's unique. All she ever heard was about how the ten shadows had finally been reborn, and how the clan was blessed for it, and how upset they all were that they had to give him back to gojo. No one even wanted her. Megumi seemed like he was living a much better life than anyone at the zenin compound could expect, so what cause would gojo have to take him away?

She was just a little girl who didn't really have friends other than her sister and him. She wanted to play with him again. She didn't understand much outside of that.

Of course, she's had time to grow up and kind of put her memories of the past in a more reasoned context. Maki came to the conclusion that Megumi probably didn't have the best time there a while ago, and this incident has really put it into perspective for her that he must have cut off the zenin because they were dangerously abusive towards him. Like, she mostly never saw him, but she has a lot of memories of him 1) being hauled out of a training room unconscious 2) being on sixteen hour days at the age of six, and 3) being violently unhappy whenever he was in the compound. Mai, to a lesser extent, likely has a similar awareness that he didn't go no contact for shits and giggles, it was because her family's fucking bonkers and abused him badly enough for gojo to pull the plug. of course, how that's shaped mai's mindset towards megumi now is still yet to be seen.

I know what it is, of course. it is seen for me. you all have yet to see it.

Gojo can and will make his own existence everyone else's problem and yuuta is sooo right to not want him to know. like. he wouldn't kick yuuta's ass. but that doesn't mean he'd be good about it.

I can pinpoint a point in manga canon where I think he would've actually thought this out loud, but I just realized that this OP can be a relatively manga spoilers free post, so I'm going to go ahead and exclude it. Toge and Yuuta had a conversation that Yuuta concluded by saying "thanks, that'll come in handy" & I think the events of that chapter would be ones that Toge would think this about.

Anyway:

When Yuuta was sent away to Africa I'm sure Toge had all kinds of feelings about that but I have to wonder if one of them was okay. Okay. I can never necessarily hope he's coming back ...I didn't WANT to tangle my feelings about my survival with that, but I have

Like, I don't think Toge has ever approached people via how powerful they are, I think that puts a very bad taste in his mouth. But still, in both his relationships with Gojo and with Yuuta, he's obviously got to be Aware. Which makes me feel all kinds of ways about his relationship with Satoru Gojo (enough breathing room to live. to make friends. Toge Inumaki is one of Satoru's biggest success stories when it comes to Trying To Be A Shield Behind Which Children Can Be Children)

But he knows whether he's equipped to defend himself if the higher ups change their mind on him, and even after Gojo's in his life, the answer is still no

Yuuta rolls into Toge's life as many things, but particularly as someone who's gonna fight for him, next to him.

That's what I think is happening in the mall scene, you know? I think the movie betrays a very real sense of I'm Not Going To Look For Anyone To Save Me.

Yuuta is that for both Toge and Maki, you know? Like, Maki doesn't wind up taking him up on it, but they both have a moment with him where Yuuta is like hey I'd like to throw myself fully behind you (Toge) / your goals (Maki).

And obviously like. like as I said, Toge is already under what protection Satoru Gojo has to offer, but also, I mean, Yuuji dies while under that protection. Satoru is intentionally distant and frankly intentionally offputting in a lot of ways

and Satoru is spread THIN, Satoru is working on a vision for everyone, so. yeah, Toge could land anywhere within that vision, and I think he knows that.

anyway Satoru is spread THIN trying to do something for EVERYONE...

Meanwhile Yuuta rolls up and decides okay, I am in this for Maki and Toge and Panda.

....and. that. might just be okay. that might just be something.

And Toge lets it creep in slow, it keeps surprising him. hope is a dangerous thing because Toge doesn't like crashing, Toge happens to like being happy, and he's figured out how to be pretty okay, within a young expiration date.

(I tend to assume there are ugly politics hanging over Toge's head and he knows. I tend to headcanon that both Toge and the higher ups know that the second they start becoming too afraid of him, they can send him into some fight a little too big for him. He's under Satoru Gojo's protection but Yuuji died under that protection. It's not quite the same arrangement as Yuuji's delayed execution once-he-becomes-a-threat, but only because it's not an execution stated out loud. It's politics. Quiet. He knows he's toeing a line and, as he becomes stronger and improves his technique, probably on a timer.)

(And Toge's relationship with that isn't obedient acceptance, it isn't dying willingly and quietly. But it is that he isn't strong enough to fight that once it comes knocking. And No One Is Going To Fight For Me, not fight for me and win.)

But it is creeping in, his awareness that Yuuta is in it beside him - that if one day there is a fight too big for Toge, he just has to turn to one side and ask.

It would be an overstatement to say he starts planning to live longer but. he's only human. feelings sneak in. and then they send Yuuta overseas.

and I have to imagine Toge gets kind of weird about it around the other two as he figures out how to try to have the feelings he is supposed to be having (I miss my friend) and privately, privately deal with the other feelings he is having (crashing hopelessness at my circumstances, at how I need to just go "never mind never mind never mind" over something I had a goddamn right to hope for)

What did you think of Saturo Gojo's death? Was it a forced and anticlimactic death? Do you think he can come back to life again? If he comes back will he lose his powers? Thank you for always answering our questions.

Initially I was disappointed and felt it to be anticlimatic because Gojo v Geto/Kenjaku has been built up since JJK 0. The strongest sorcerer and the worst curse user! Former friends(lovers), current enemies(exes)! The set-up seemed like it was Sukuna v Yuuji and Kenjaku v Gojo.

But after some time, I get it, tbh. Yuuta was the MC of JJK 0 and his animosity with Geto has already been set up. Gojo himself brings up Yuuta when mentioning fighting Kenjaku so this was a long time coming. It makes sense to me now why Yuuta dealt the killing blow. Love is a curse, Gojo killing Kenjaku would curse Geto indirectly again and Gojo doesn't want to do that again, ever.

The only other opponent left is Sukuna and the final fight with him will HAVE to be Yuuji. There's no other choice.

With Kenjaku gone, Sukuna weakened, and Yuuji growing strong, there's no point in Gojo returning. What's he gonna do if he returns? With or without his powers? He also got what he wanted.

Raise a group of sorcerers who work together for the common good? Check

Have Geto's body put to rest? Indirectly check because Yuuta is his student and he trusted him on that

Find someone he can be on equal grounds with and finally be understood in his loneliness? CHECK

Find satisfaction? Check. He said he's happier in his death dream/actual purgatory/ airport afterlife thing. The two people who could make him satisfied were Sukuna and Geto. Sukuna gave him the best fight of his life where he actually had to work and got the chance to go all out, Geto's dead so in life, he can't do anything about what he wants from Geto. Dream or not, Gojo finally met Geto again, he WANTS that meeting to be real. Bringing him out of it is just going to take away whatever peace he found in fighting Sukuna and speaking with Geto.

Gojo's story is done. He'd be redundant now. The only big bad left is Sukuna, and whatever Kenjaku has planned could probably be dealt with by the rest of the cast (it's a fucking powerful cast too). It's time for the new gen.

I also can't see Gege wanting to bring him back when he has stated a bunch of times how difficult it is to write Gojo. Practically speaking I think he could do RCT and come back. but like, I don't see it happening.

I do have one scenario in which I'd like to see him revived; He makes a binding vow or something which sacrifices his Six Eyes in exchange for an extra few minutes(heheh 6 minutes maybe) of living where he can assist the kids and he's back to being dead again after the time is up. An encouraging message to Yuuta and Yuuji maybe and bye-bye.

If he does come back to full-time, his story arc might be about defining himself outside of being 'The Honored One' but lbr he'd be fucking miserable because all his friends sans Shoko are dead. Does Gojo WANT to define himself outside of his powers? I've never seen him express the desire to lower himself, only that he wishes others would rise to his level. This is, I think, the best way to end his story. A tragedy, a young god.

The only thing keeping me not depressed is the idea of the after life being seemingly canon in JJK so hey, maybe Gojo will find happiness, a long life and satisfaction in his next life cycle?

Commoners sure are a bunch of sad people, seeing how they don’t have a lot of ways to have fun and the fact that they’re being swayed left and right every time there’s an event~ 

Yuuta: Ahaha, you’re not very honest, huh, Hime-kun. I can’t imagine a kid like you not being excited for Christmas.

If you’re not a good boy, then Santa won’t visit your house, you know~

Touri: Don’t call me a kid. You’re the one who’s younger~ Anyway, getting excited for Christmas isn’t a privilege that only the commoners get.

You don’t have to tell me to be a good boy because I’m already one.

Santa’s gonna come to my house and I’ll ask him to make my wish come true~ Ehehe ♪

Yuuta: Ohh~... Hime-kun, you still believe in Santa at this age?

Every year, I tie a huge stocking to the pillar of my bed and inside that stocking is a piece of paper with my wish on it.

Touri: Uuu~! Why’re you patting my head with a bright smile on your face? I know you’re my friend but you’re being way too casual!

Yuuta: I think it’s because it’s you, Hime-kun. I can’t help but wanna tease you all the time~

the fact that love is so central to his character, i think it brings a lot to jjk, especially against a villain like sukuna who thinks love is pointless. im having doubts after recent chapters, but i was really hoping to see him and yuuji take down sukuna together, since so much of what they do is motivated by love, and i think that would just be so poetic.

but like yuuta has rika bc he loved her sm when she was alive. he nearly sacrifices himself in jjk0 bc he loves his friends sm. he takes on gojo's burden bc he loves him. his domain is literally true & mutual love like kfjghkfjghdkj

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

i think his first priority is being cozy. like he always picks things that are comfy and have a good fabric texture. his clothes gotta be soft. no scratchy fabrics in this wardrobe. i can see him enjoying the like. "soft boy" type clothing w sweaters over collared shirts and a lot of pastel blues.

he's probably got white sneakers tho. and unpatterened socks. perpetually smells like fabric softener bc again no scratchy clothing.

18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

i could talk about inuokko but im not going to. just know they're always on my mind 🤞

i wish we could see a bit more of them together bc i think yuuta could share a lot of wisdom w yuuji. he once carried a lot of guilt bc of the actions of rika, and he too wrestled w the idea of whether he deserved to keep living, but anyway, even without that, i really like what of their relationship we do get to see. i mean just look at this, yuuta's known yuuji for a total of like. twenty minutes maybe but he's already figured him out.

actually just in general, i've noticed that he seems to be closest with characters that are generally "different" and somewhat lonely because of that. gojo is lonely because he is strong. maki is lonely because she's different from her family. inumaki is lonely because he can't speak with his friends normally. yuuji is lonely because he's lost so much, and he's sukuna's vessel, so many people want him dead or dont see him as human. and all of these are people that yuuta takes extra time to understand or build closer relationships with. im sure it comes from how lonely he felt growing up with a malicious curse that wouldn't let anyone near him, so he doesn't want anyone else to feel alone </3

I have some questions about geto. 1. Isn't it strange that he wants to kill his parents like I think he didn't kill his whole family but he specifically killed his parents I think geto's parents weren't that nice I think geto had a difficult childhood. 2. There are 2 scenes where I find Geto's reaction strange. When Amanai hugs his maid and says he loves her, he reacts like he's never seen that before. and the second scene when yuta says he likes rika and kisses her geto makes a surprised reaction and i find that strange. Do you think geto wasn't born into a loving family that's why he had these reactions in these scenes? 3. do you think we will have a story about geto's past one day?

1. i don’t think the manga mentions getou having relatives other than his parents, he would’ve probably killed them if they weren’t sorcerers, he himself says he can’t make an exception for his parents, so that indicates he would include other family members. we aren’t given much information about getou’s past, so we can only speculate, but i don’t think getou had a healthy relationship with his parents to kill them like that and i believe the friction in their relationship is probably due to him being a sorcerer.

what he saw in the cult wasn’t unusual at all, he was well aware of that ugliness and he decided to be a shaman despite knowing it, so he knew how sorcerers were treated before joining the jujutsu world, even though he came from a family of non shamans, so in which occasion could he possibly have experienced that? when you put that together with getou’s paternalistic prejudice towards humans, because they are powerless and weak to him, therefore he knows better, then you can maybe get an idea where i’m going with this. it’s easy to assume that getou was very alone before joining the jujutsu world, he probably was the only one in his circle that saw cursed spirits, so imagine how he had to deal with that, either by being framed as crazy, including by his own parents most likely, or by having to ignore the spirits and live with it. no wonder he feels special, especially when he’s new to this game and yet is put on the same position as the guy who knows this since birth and whose birth changed the world balance, no wonder it seems like he knows better than non sorcerers therefore he feels superior, even when he means well. so yeah, i don’t think getou had a good relationship with his parents, i even read in a fic once that mentioned him taking antipsychotics when he was younger and i found that interesting. i know it’s all speculation, but it feels logical to me at least.

2. i don’t find getou’s reaction strange in neither of those moments, though.

with riko, he just seems to be respectful and a little bit saddened by her goodbye to kuroi, we’re talking about a guy who agreed to fight tengen in order to stop the merger so riko could have a normal life. he probably is sad to watch a kid go through that.

in jjk0 he just seems to be trying to understand what yuuta is gonna do.

getou having a possible friction with his parents doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand loving moments.

3. i’m not sure we are getting more information about getou’s past… it feels like the timing is off now but who knows? would love to.

JJK chapter 245 thoughts

I ended up reading the fan translation after the official because I wanted to see how it worded parts and I hate that they use she/her pronouns for uraume for zero reason

Uraume was GORGEOUS this chapter. Loved the Hakari and Uruame parts tbh. Highlight of the chapter and getting to see why Hakari is such an impressive and accomplished sorcerer that it seems Uruame is respecting. Hakari’s approach is a little refreshing too. He’s very considerate to those he cares for and respects, but also doesn’t “refrain” with his powers and limits, like Uruame says. Interesting that they portray this as breaking from humanity and give this almost honorable announcement that they’ll give their all to crushing Hakari. Also Hakari’s just a fun character.

If I had to guess, Uruame will probably die in this fight, but who knows. I like Uruame a lot, but would rather have Hakari live if someone has to go.

It’s cute he was moved by Yuuta!

This part was really funny:

I don’t like that the Judgeman confiscated the tool. It was a gamble Higuruma didn’t consider, which I can understand from his inexperienced perspective sorcery (This is obviously what Sukuna was banking on from those smug excited faces). But if this was Plan B, you would’ve thought Angel or someone else considered the possibility. On top of that, the tool came into existence to help Sukuna not lose his technique momentarily. Literally a get-out-of-jail-free card created through Yorozu.

Still gonna wait to see where this goes. Disappointed there wasn’t more dialogue during the court trial with it being a plan without violence and how cool the setting looks. Technically the domain could be done again, but I have a feeling that was it (that feeling is knowing Gege loves technical shonen fights and this manga finishing in a year). Not sure what Higuruma, Kusakabe, Ino, Yuuji, and Choso can do??? Preparing for Higuruma to die (he’s one of my favorites….😭), but hoping there’s some twist that actually lets them live or affects Sukuna. Kusakabe is protecting Higuruma for now (that panel was also cute), but Sukuna is set on that executioners sword.

Ino worries me after that moment in a past chapter of telling Gojo something about Nanami. Could be that he wanted to join the battle to prove himself as a sorcerer or something to that degree, so not looking too good. Higuruma also has huge death flags, but I’m more confident on Kusakabe and Choso making it (I better be right about Choso). Yuuji and Kusakabe had their maybe possibly body swapping training scene during the time skip, so will that come into play?

Wonder if Maki and any others are with Yuuta or in his area as backup for the Takaba and Kenjaku fight.

Trying to convince myself there’s any chance we’ll get flashbacks to the Heian era in future chapters even though it seems more and more unlikely. Fingers crossed for more of Sukuna’s backstory at least

not to plug for my own au or anything (bc it literally hasn't been posted yet lol) but like... as a mainly 2012 fan, seeing all of this with the knowledge of what happened to Yoshi and Saki in that timeline is. damn. okay yeah 12 Splinter could've been So Much Worse. by no means is he a good dad but at least he's trying to do right by his kids rather than emulating 1-to-1 what Yuuta did to him and his brother. still makes me so sad that he died before he could successfully unpack all that trauma so he just kinda said "well shit I don't have time so I better make one of them even more emotionally fucked up to protect the others For The Greater Good" and in that sense followed in Yuuta's footsteps at the very last moment. really pulled a Saki there :/

so! on that note! it made me curious, what with all the crossover stuff going on, what would happen if someone tried to kill your Splinter. idk if anyone else wants the glory so I'm just gonna say that my Splints did it because he regrets chickening out when Saki nearly died to Yuuta back in the day yada yada plot stuff. needless to say he would fail miserably, there's a reason he's in hiding these days. so how would Splinter react? like, if he survives, but it was close and there is a credible and very aggressive threat to his personal safety (which he can defeat pretty easily but it's still inconvenient and frightening), but for Multiverse Reasons he can't just pick up the kids and leave.

the other important question is... how would the kids react? especially Mikey. something has just shown that their dad is not invincible, but he is still a problem. how would he respond to that?

haven't watched a lot of 2012 but i am eternally amused that he was like, kind of a shit dad and then just DIED about it haha fsdfdsf.

anywho, to get into your question-

Splinter is already pretty paranoid, he wont step foot in the hidden city for fear that Big Mama's goons will get him even all these years later. if someone tried to kill him and knew where he lived he'd grab his boys and SKEDADDLE. and if they DIDNT know where he lived he'd force donnie to up the security on their lair by like 1000%.

as for mikey, I think it's different to wish your dad would die and actually see someone try to do it. even though Mikey wouldn't be SUPER broken up if Splinter died, he'd still be traumatized, and he knows it would hurt his brothers a lot if they lost Splinter. he's also not prone to trusting adults, especially those who just (seemingly) randomly attacked his caretaker.

Donnie would be panicked about it and feel unsafe until they figured out who tried to kill splinter and why.

Leo would be fuckin furious and decide to be Splinters personal body guard for the foreseeable future.

Raph is always tired and would continue to be tired and irritated. he probably wouldn't change much, except that now he's extra high strung cause what if the guy who tried to kill splinter comes back for the rest of them?? and if splinter dies, where will they go?? will Draxum take them in? stressful.

I always wonder, with all the allegories Kenjaku has going on surrounding birth, pregnancy and fetuses, does this favoritism towards Yuuji also come from the fact that they gave birth to him? Unconciously, idk. There's multiple factors including his own selfish agenda, or the fact that after 9 children Yuuji is the only one Kenjaku found not a failure etc., but carrying a child, giving birth and possibly breastfeeding might've had an effect on them.

Anwyays: I find it extremely interesting that Kenjaku didn't intend for Yuuji to stay as a vessel. Clearly Yuuji having a body strong enough to host Sukuna was the overall idea, but they really make it sound like they were really letting Jin Itadori pipe them just for the hell of it just to see what would come out of that lol. Cause really, beyond hosting/repressing Sukuna (which Yuuji has semi succesfuly done until... uh... now...), Kenjaku already said they don't have a specific role for Yuuji to play and want to see whatever he does next.

Also R.I.P Itadori Jin, Choso would have imprited on him like a baby duck.

I'm not entirely sure Sukuna will seriously try to kill Yuuji. He generally prefers to toy with and torture him, and watching Megumi be possessed while being powerless to do anything about it is way more cruel than killing him. Yuuji wants to die anyway. But speaking of, Kenjaku has to become a bit more careful with Yuuji. In the past they could count on Sukuna reviving him or someone else like Yuuta stepping in and healing him, but now that will become more difficult. Not saying they will pamper him in any sense of the word or jump in front of the gun so to say...just maybe keep a closer eye on him? But I think they're gonna do that anyway for multiple reasons.

Yes, I think having given birth to him and him being their biological child has some influence on them. They also call themselves Choso's parent and there still seems to be some Noritoshi DNA swimming around in them (which gives them immunity against the Death Painting poison), but they don't call the Death Paintings their children or acknowledge any kind of close personal relationship because well...there isn't one. They didn't birth them or father them, they simply arranged for the abuse of the Mother and then added Noritoshi's blood. Much more hands-off than Yuuji's case. No playing house and teasing the father-in-law. And then there's the failure on top of it. When Choso isn't screaming in their ear, they generally don't seem to think much about that experiment, just "that happened, that sucked, anyway-". They make jokes about it instead of seeming upset.

So in that sense Yuuji is their only living child and he's getting the favourite treatment (not always a good thing with Kenjaku). I also think they would have fucked Jin either way. Maybe they wouldn't have necessarily had a child with him, but he's their type: guy with colourful hair, more slender than muscled body and pretty face. counting Mahito and Kashimo too here because I'm biased They were having a little fun at work you could say. Given their domain, I also don't think this was their first pregnancy. They've been alive for over a millennium, contraception wasn't always that good and they clearly are attracted to men. Things happen. And who knows how many times they practised for this experiment. I don't think even they could make Sukuna's perfect restricting vessel or whatever else Yuuji is supposed to be on first try. All these kids would of course be long dead and I think they were always more of an absent parent/mother anyway. Whatever happened to those children could also influence how they feel about Yuuji now. But we will probably find out more about it when they meet him again and/or we get to why they picked Kaori and Jin specifically (if they picked Jin at all and didn't just do it with him because he was available and desperate for a baby).

Another thought, in Shibuya they also said "things born from me can't exceed my own potential" with a kind of faint expression. The English translation uses "create", but in Japanese it's 生まれる which straight up just means "to be born". There are a lot of pregnancy allegories in their speeches, they don't always get translated though, like in ch 202 when they say the cursed spirit will be pregnant/swollen with the cursed energy of a hundred million people.

I think this could for one, refer to past experiments that involved them giving birth, which clearly didn't go very well or it's what they might ideally hope for Yuuji to achieve. Although judging by their expression there's not a lot of hope. This phrase of course also includes the Death Paintings, but since they don't act this depressed whenever else they are brought up, I don't think that's the full picture. In that case, they didn't birth anything anyway, which might have been the point. They thought things would go better with minimal involvement from their side, but that didn't help either. But maybe Yuuji will manage to surprise them and prove them wrong.
