Fallen stars
summary: In the world of Delarus, where regal courts and majestic islands intertwine, Fallen Stars weaves a tale of passion, sadness, and obsession. At the heart of the story is Lady (Y/N) Ieiri, a girl just trying to save herself and as many souls as she can before time runs out. The stage is set for an elaborate dance of power, obsession, and secrets.
pairings: vampire!gojo x Ieiri!reader
warnings: talks of illness, trouble making on Kanna's end cus shes a bit salty lowk
A/N: this was written by me an @skye-cat-creations in like January I think but here's the prologue ^.^
Back to the old house
“In the labyrinth of devotion,
             sanity becomes the sacrifice.”
"Miki, slow down; my new dress makes me slow."
You bent over, trying to catch your breath as Tsumiki ran ahead, twirling and laughing. "Come on, (y/n), I managed to lose Yuta so we can do what we want!" Tsumiki yelled back. Tsumiki, the crown princess of Delarus, was the troublemaker, as the village people called her, but you knew her as Miki, your best friend.
"Why are you always running off together, hmm?"
You shot straight up, slowly turning around, and came face to face with your older sister. "ShoSho! Um, nice to see you…?" you said with a shaky smile. Shoko looked over the two girls with an almost confused smile, Kanna at her side as they followed closely behind. "They must be up to something if running off so quickly," Kanna commented as she stood next to Shoko.
You looked over at the girl as if she had been one of the gods coming down to smite you for something you must've done in your past. "Lady Kanna, lovely to see you? And we had just planned to go to the gardens. Princess Tsumiki and I had just wished to stroll the gardens," you responded quickly as Tsumiki came back to your side, brushing her palms against her dark purple dress, a smile staying kind on the young princess's lips. "Lady Ieiri, Lady Kanna, it is lovely to see you both!" she exclaimed in a kind manner.
You always did wonder how she managed to be so kind to everyone, even if she had a hint of distaste for how they treated others in the islands surrounding the capital. Kanna smiled; it almost seemed annoying to you. "Princess Tsumiki, 'tis an honor to be in your presence on this fine day," Kanna remarked as Shoko nodded along with her friend's words. "I hope the day has been truly well for you, My lady." You watched Shoko say Tsumiki nodded kindly. "I hope the same for both of you, Lady Ieri. I do hope yours and (y/n)’s mother is well. I had heard she had been ill recently." You turned pale, staring wide-eyed at Shoko. "Shosho, what is she talking about? Is mother ill?" Shoko avoided eye contact, scratching her cheek. "Ehh, sorry, (y/n), I know you would’ve wanted to go, and you looked like you were enjoying yourself-" tears welled up in your eyes. "No, no, mother is much more important than enjoying myself!" you exclaimed, your heart feeling as if it had dropped to your stomach. You stood there in shock; Shoko looked uncomfortable at the newfound knowledge being spread.
"Father wanted to be the one to tell you, (y/n). You had not been meant to find out like this," she tried to assure, but it fell on deaf ears. You felt as if the rug had just been pulled from under you after she spoke. You shook your head; it felt as if you had shaken your hairpin right from your hair. Tsumiki looked undeniably guilty at revealing that accidentally. "Oh, (y/n), I apologize. I hadn't known Lord Zimir hadn't told you of your mother's illness. I must apologize in some way; this feels so horrible to have been the one to reveal such things with no true prior knowledge," Tsumiki tried to apologize; her voice almost seemed too much in the moment. You shook your head as you choked back the tears that threatened to fall. "It's not your fault, Miki. I know you didn't mean to; it was a mistake anyone could have made," you reassured her, giving a kind smile even in what felt like the worst moment for anyone in that second.
"I do feel terrible for you, Lady (y/n). If there's anything I can do, just ask," Kanna said in an almost bored tone. Her voice made it seem as if she was above the situation around her; the air of superiority she had was starting to annoy you. How could she act so high and mighty after finding out your mother was ill? Instead of losing your cool with the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Lyora, you held your tongue. "Thank you, Lady Kanna. There's not much you could do, but again, thank you." Soon after responding to Kanna you left without saying another word heading for your chambers. You needed to think about what you just heard.
"Thank you, ser Kusukabe, after the ordeal in the garden. I think it's best if I head home," you said with a small smile, heading to the door of your chambers. "Lady (y/n), shouldn’t you say goodbye to Princess Tsumiki before we leave for the ship?" Kusukabe said while picking up your luggage for home. "That's where I'm headed. If you could take my luggage to the ship while I say goodbye, please," you shouted back, already out the door. Kusukabe just shook his head. "You never change, do you, Lady (y/n)?"
After learning your mother was ill while in the garden with Tsumiki, you left in a hurry, heading back to your chambers to alert Kusukabe that you were leaving for Melenina as soon as possible. You felt bad for having run off from the garden, leaving Tsumiki behind, but in that moment, you felt like an arrow pierced your heart. "Lady (y/n), how may I help you?" King Fushigiro greeted you after entering the throne room. You curtsied, showing respect to not only the king but the father of your best friend. "You grace, I have come to inform you of my departure, as I have recently heard that my mother has fallen ill. If you could provide me the whereabouts of Princess Tsumiki, please." The king looked down at you with what can only be described as pity in his eyes, a look you’ve been getting a lot lately.
"Lady (y/n), I'm sorry no one told you about your mother sooner. Your father informed me of what happened. Princess Tsumiki should be in her chambers. Please, allow Ser Getou to lead you," he sighed deeply, speaking up before you turned for the door. "She’s been upset after what happened in the garden; apparently, Lady Kanna gave her some trouble after you left," he told you as Ser Getou had come forward from the edge of the throne room. "Follow me, my lady," you could hear Ser Getou tell you as you processed what the king had told you. Lady Kanna is turning out to be a bigger pain in the ass than normal; you do hope Tsumiki will be alright while you're gone. You curtsied again as you responded to the king. "Oh, thank you for informing me, sire. I will send a letter when I plan to head back." He gave a kind smile as you turned to follow behind the black-haired Kingsguard member; your eyes followed his silver armor as you had been led through the winding halls of the Ravenstone Castle.
The muted colors throughout the halls almost seemed as if you had been looking at a painting of a famous lord thrown around the lands of Delarus. "Ser?" you asked as the two of you made your way up the winding staircase leading to Princess Tsumiki’s Chambers, his head popping over his shoulder slightly as they continued walking. "What is it, my lady?" Ser Getou asked you as the pair looked over the staircase railing. "Do you ever wonder what it is like to be able to save everyone you want to help?" you asked; the tone held in your voice was almost unsure at your own words, but it stayed almost firm as you made your way up the stairs. Even as one of the lead ladies and lords who knew anything of medicine, you always felt the need to save everyone as long and as much as you had been able to.
The silence was large, the only sound being the clanking of Getous armor, before he finally spoke "I do often, my lady. It is as if it eats at me if I am not able to save those dear to me in the times needed, like it would cripple me with the weight fallen on my shoulders when I see them die because of my insufficient help," he admitted as they finally arrived at Princess Tsumiki’s door. The large oak door seemed as if it was giant in comparison to the guards in front posted guard. "Thank you, Ser Getou. I thought as if I was the only one," you said with a shy smile, approaching the posted guards. "Have a good rest of your day, Lady (y/n)," Getou responded, taking his leave with a bow.
"Lady (y/n), how may we help you?" the guard to the left asked, his armor clinking slightly as he bowed. "I'm just here to see Princess Tsumiki. If that's alri-" Before you could finish your sentence, the door burst open, and a tear-stricken Tsumiki came running out. "(y/n)! I thought you were going to leave without saying goodbye!" she says, almost yelling. With a sad look in your eyes, you hold her hands in your own. "Miki! You know I wouldn’t do that to you, never in a million universes." After reassuring Tsumiki, you two head into her chambers. "Miki, I heard from the king that Lady Kanna said something to upset you." Tsumiki looks away, tears welling up in her eyes. "After lady Shoko left, She shamed me for saying something, that I should have known you didn’t know, that if I didn’t open my mouth, you wouldn’t be leaving. And I shouldn’t have," she says, burying her face in her hands.
You look at her shocked, bringing her into a hug, you say, "Miki, it’s not your fault. I would never blame you, and I'm leaving because I'm the only one I trust caring for my mother. But it definitely is not your fault; if anything, it’s my stupid father's fault for not telling me sooner," you say, tears streaming down your face. It's always felt hard having to leave the capital to go back home; first, it was your brother's death, now your mother's illness. Thankfully, Tsumiki has always been there for you, no matter the situation. Suddenly, there's a knock at the door. "Lady (y/n), the ship is ready to leave; we're just waiting for you," you hear Kusakabe's rough monotone voice through the door.
You and Tsumiki step off the bed. "Miki… Promise you’ll be okay while I'm gone. I don’t know what I’d do if something happens to you as well," you say, a somber tone held. "I promise, (y/n); please send your mother my regards. I do hope she gets better for both her and you," she says, tear stains still evident on her rosy cheeks. You look back before you open the door. "Goodbye, Miki," "See you soon; don’t say goodbye; it makes it seem like we’ll never meet again," she says, tears running down her cheeks again. "Right, see you soon, Miki," and with that, you leave, meeting Kusukabe and leaving for the ship. Shoko chooses not to come with as she still had business to attend to in Matalikis. As the ship leaves for Melenina, you utter one last phrase: "Please stay safe, Miki, for me."

interesting to me how eichi is one of the people that created the legend of the five eccentrics in the first place, thus leading people to view them as inhuman geniuses and monsters, and yet he seems to be one of the people most aware of their humanity and the fact that they are still human
