Before I drew Scott and Lucile, I wanted to study the art style of Fuga specially Tokitsu Yusuke's work on the game. So, here's the gen 4 trio from the Pokémon special manga as Fuga characters.

I think the biggest hurdle for me when it comes to this art style is the shading and rendering. I'm not great with watercolor not even digital watercolor so I need to work on that lol...

I personally headcanon Hiei to be in his 20s to 50s because it's canon that he neglected looking for Hyouga after he felt more confident and immersed in his own power and in my own interpretation, that's a good chunk of years of delay. Why? Because regardless of canon, I want Hiei to grow in power and reputation in Makai and become great enough that he attracted Mukuro's attention before he even left.

Hiei had a lot of achievements in Makai which he gave up to come looking for Hyouga again. He also got a lot of enemies that could have targeted him while he was weakened and only decades of reputation in Makai earns him all that.

This will also mean that he neglected Yukina before he looked for her, before he knew of her existence, which made Yukina suffer longer in captivity and will give Hiei more guilt and reason not to admit to being her brother. Hiei was too murderous and loved being in power that he let his sister suffer longer when he could have saved her faster if started looking much earlier. He was punishing himself for losing his stone when he accepted the pain of jagan operation but it could also be punishment for the delay it took him before he cared enough to look.

If Hiei comes off as naive, that's because he overestimates his own power and looks down on his opponents which is consistent with him since childhood, since meeting Yusuke and then meeting Kaito. Yukina on the other hand can be naive due to choosing to view people as innocent until proven guilty which is not the way of life around crime in both worlds. Their age can be blamed for that naivety but young age for youkai doesn't mean teenage years because they're not human. Koorime are a long lived race. They could be in their 50s to 90s and still be considered young.

It’s black underwater.

When he’d been above the water, it had been a beautiful blue that bled into a deeper green. He hadn't been able to see the bottom from the surface, or if there were any fish, and even his reflection had been a bit murky. But it had been pretty, above the water. Serene, even.

Below the water, it was not serene, or pretty. It was black and cold, and he didn’t know which way was up or down. Which way would lead him to the surface, and which way would take him further into doom? It was all lost underwater as the current spun him around and pushed him alarmingly fast into the water. 

A hand was on his forearm, and blunt nails bit into his skin. Digging and digging, trying to get him to respond. He kicked his legs, the muscles cramping in the cold, and pushed closer to the person trying to save him. His hopefully soon-to-be savior, pulled, his blunt nails biting into his skin. The prick of pain was his lifeline.

Like corks, they bobbed to the surface, their desperate kicks finally allowing them to break the surface. Atop the water, it was still blue and green, white foam spreading out as the winds battered them around. Above the surface it was beautiful.

Below had been devastatingly opposite.

“Breathe! Breathe! Just breathe!” Yusuke shouted, spitting mouthfuls of water out as his biting fingernails fished for the color of his shirt. Yusuke had cut perfect little crescent moons into his arms from the force of his grip.

Yusuke shook him angrily, “Breathe, Goddammit!”

He couldn't breathe... he couldn't. He was too frozen from the cold water, too weak to battle its overwhelming might.

"I'm not letting you go!" Yusuke roared, shaking him fiercely, keeping them both above the water somehow. It was obvious, Yusuke would either save him, or drown together with him. He would not let him go.

 "Breathe!"

Yusuke wasn’t going to let him die, not even against something as overwhelmingly powerful as the water. No power would take away some Yusuke cared about.

“Breathe!”

He took a breath.
