Yoshitaka Yuriko as Yagami Kaede from Kiken na Venus (2020)

The last ongoing jdrama I watched from Yuriko was from 2017 (Tokyo Tarareba Musume). She had very good projects in between those years (like WataTei) but I wasn’t very updated during that time lol. Kiken na Venus, Your Eyes Tell, and Tokyo Tarareba Musume 2020 SP brought back all the love I have for her since watching Love Shuffle and Bokura ga Ita. She’s a charming actress full of surprises!

Also this drama is my 2020 favorite and my first Higashino Keigo drama, who is the genius behind Galileo, Byakuyako, and Shinzanmono/Kaga Kyoichiro series. I highly recommend this if you love mystery dramas.

This one is for my story for My Hero Academia. I had started chapter 2 a long long time ago. Thank you for the ask! I'm hoping to get some inspo for this soon so rereading this over as I post this definitely helps!

“Bye, have a nice day!” Yuriko said with a smile as the person stepped away from the register. As soon as they were out of eyesight the smile fell from the young woman’s face. She hung her head, groaning as she ran a hand down her face. “Holy shit.”

She heard a chuckle next to her and the purple haired woman shot a glare at the person.

“Not enjoying work today, Umeda?” a man with four horns coming out of his forehead said, a bright smile on his face.

“No,” Yuriko said, elongating the word. “I love working Saturdays. It’s totally how I want to spend my weekend.��� She let out a huff, blowing some of her purple and pink locks out of her face. Leaning an elbow on the register counter, she rested her chin in her palm. “Especially when it’s super slow for a Saturday. What gives? People are always shopping on weekends. This doesn’t make sense!”

The man chuckled lightly, folding his arms over his chest. “It hasn’t been too bad. This morning we had some customers.”

“Including our friend ‘What do you mean this shirt isn’t part of the sale?’,” Yuriko said, her voice shifting from hers to that of a gruffer voice. “Oh and let’s not forget ‘You sound like your twelve.’” That time her voice shifted to the shrill voice of a woman. “I mean who says that to someone?” Yuriko exclaimed, her voice back to normal and throwing her hand into the air.

“I mean with your quirk being what it is I wouldn’t doubt you sounded like a twelve year old.” The coworker grinned even bigger at Yuriko who flared at him.

“Oh shut it, Koboyashi. You were there, you know I didn’t use my quirk when I talked to her.” She sighed and stretched her arms out. “Anyway, it’s time for me to leave.”

Koboyashi made a face as he glanced at his phone as well. “Huh, guess it is. Well thanks for yo-” The sound of the door’s bell chiming brought the two workers’ attention away from each other and to the new customer. “Hey, welcome in!” Koboyashi greeted. “How can we help you?”

The customer who came in was a short, lanky man. His red hair had a large receding hairline and his eyes had very dark circles under them as if he hadn’t been sleeping for days. Something Yuriko could relate to with the past couple days keeping her busy. Something about the man seemed off as his eyes shifted around the store as he approached them. His head almost didn’t reach the counter.

“Uh can we help you, sir?” Yuriko asked after a moment. Her brow furrowed in confusion as the man finally turned to look at them.

“Yeah,” he finally said in a raspy voice. His face tried to seem intimidating, but it kept wavering from worry to almost threatening. It matched the fluctuation in his voice as he spoke. “Give me all your money!”

Lifting up his hand and pointing it at the purple haired woman, Yuriko could see that what once was his boney fingered fist was now a solid, rust colored brick. Unlike his head, it reached over the counter, but was far from a threat as it most likely wouldn’t reach Yuriko, let alone Koboyashi who stood a solid foot taller than her. Four feet almost compared to the man.

Yuriko nodded her head, eyebrows raised and lips turned downwards. “That’s a new one,” she said, turning to Koboyashi. “A little better than the last guy who just flickered the lights whenever he blinked.”

Koboyashi snapped his fingers. “Or the time that guy who could teleport like three feet got stuck in the wall. That helped us figure out how thick the walls were from that one time the cannonball guy came through from the other store.”

“Oh yeah!” the woman said, a bright smile on her face. “Gave you an excuse to talk to the manager at that store. He was cute.”

Stuttering came from below the cash wrap. “I-I’m serious! Give me all your money! Now.” He began waving his brick fist in the air, trying desperately to bring the workers’ attention back to him. “Give me your money and no one gets hurt.”

With a glance from Koboyashi to the man, Yuriko raised a brow. “Yeah, um sorry dude,” she glanced down at her phone, “but you have the worst timing. It’s the end of my shift.”

“Huh?” The man shook his head. “I don’t think you understand. I’m robbing yo-”

In the blink of an eye the man was lifted into the air and sent flying towards the wall. Dangling high up on the wall, the short man thrashed about trying to get down. Pinning him to the wall by the collar of his jacket was a bright red feather.

“Hey, Songbird!” greeted a cheerful voice.

The two retail workers looked over as the owner of the voice walked up to them, a smile on the young man’s face.

“Hey, Hawks!” Koboyashi greeted in return, lifting a hand in a small wave.

“Sup, man! How’s work been?” Hawks greeted, leaning against the counter of the cash wrap. “Make any sales?”

“Just a few so far. Been a slow day,” the male worker replied with a shrug.

Hawks smiled before turning to the woman. “You ready to go, Yuriko?”

“Just give me a second to get my stuff and we can head out. I’m starving!” Yuriko said, scooting passed Koboyashi as she headed towards the back.

jdrama autumn 2020 (Oct #3)

Kiken na Venus | Dangerous Venus Stars: Tsumabuki Satoshi, Yoshitaka Yuriko This is based off a novel by best-selling author Higashino Keigo, whose works had been the basis for cult classics Shinzanmono, Byakuyakou, Ryusei no Kizuna and Galileo (as well as a whole bunch of movies). The reviews for the book is somewhat mixed - some enjoyed it a lot, and spoke of the "Venus" in the title as an analogy for human infatuation with their obsessions - which could be anything. Some felt the twist at the end came out of nowhere and the overall story was unexciting. I went into this for Tsumabuki - I always had a good impression of him, although I can't think of why since I don't think I've actually watched many of his movies. He is very natural and endearing on variety shows. Once the camera rolls, though, it's easy to see why Nino said he had always wanted to work with Tsumabuki. Teshima isn't a very likeable character - he's sleazy, indecisive, easily influenced, not steadfast in his beliefs, somewhat immature in his reading and judgement of social interactions. In a way, he's a man who has never really grown up past his childhood trauma and his difficult years in a home that never accepted him, but at the same time, he also didn't take any steps to make the situation better for himself. In a way he's symptomatic of the modern era - he has accepted the role of a victim, and instead of growing stronger so he can leave it behind, he carries it everywhere with him and pities himself. This is where Tsumabuki's impressive interpretation comes in. He actually makes this weak-willed guy likeable. The way he has his small temper explosions at the rest of his "family", the way he looks at Yoshitaka with fascination and suspicion, and the way he looks simultaneously embarrassed and proud of himself as he takes a stance. It's the subtlety that says "I know my vices, I know I might be being reckless or immature or gullible, and I guess I deserve what's coming". It's not something that all actors can pull off and he manages it with ease. Yoshitaka's role surprised me because I half expected her to be a femme fatale by the title, but she is her usual cute self - and perhaps that makes it more realistic for a man to feel like he needs to be the hero and protect her. Certainly but Tsumabuki and Yoshitaka are now big screen veterans, and it's such a pleasure watching their expressions shift subtly with the exchanges and interactions. By contrast, Fujioka Dean's acting comes across as much more exaggerated. Fortunately he's in a rather exaggerated villain role so it's less of an issue. I do recommend this, but I think revenge dramas are not overly popular these days and it's ratings will probably stay around 11%. Shichinin no Hisho | The seven secretaries Stars: Kimura Fumino et co Coming from the team who produced the unrealistically idealised Doctor X series, this appears to be a drama about a group of serving and former secretaries in a number of important organisations who band together and...it's not entirely clear what they do. They use unusual methods to ensure that society runs smoothly? They quietly remove all evidence of adultery? They stop other secretaries committing suicide? It's smoothly produced and led by a number of beautiful women in what appears to be quite strong and smart roles, but (perhaps not entirely unexpected from the Doctor X team), the first episode stumbles a bit in establishing what exactly their motivations are. The idea of top secretaries from big companies/corporations/government organisations doing cover-ups and tampering with evidence and trying to access confidential information, while not extraordinary, would be the start of many a conspiracy theory and I think it's important to establish quickly that these secretaries are doing it for a good cause, doing it out of their own volition, and are not being controlled by some dark schemeing hand. It's an easy watch but I really hope the team doesn't fall down the pit of Legal V where the characters just became annoying caricatures who never grew and were always in the right, even when they were doing something highly questionable.

4. Which oc has been tortured? Through what means?

A couple of my ocs have. Tracey was tortured by Hydra at one point and then in a sense Fiona was by her Marine ex boyfriend. A little physically and a lot emotionally. Emotionally thanks to Sabo at one point, but he didn't do it on purpose, more so because of events that happen in One Piece.

5. Which of them has the worst luck?

Hana. Hands down Hana. She's already a klutz and then when you have her in One Piece she gets the Jinx Jinx fruit so she just has bad luck everywhere.

11. Who is afraid the most? How does this effect them?

Hana again. She's a crybaby. She's always afraid and practically shaking all the time. Law and the Heart Pirates help her get over her fears slowly though. She's just a worry wart and is always stuttering.

12. What kind of health repercussions has your oc experienced through intense stress? How do they manage them?

This one is tough. I don't think I have any OC with health repercussions. Maybe Yuriko. Her quirk is mimic so she copies voices. She does it a lot to practice lines for the musicals she's in and can lose her voice if she uses her quirk too much. There was one time where she got angry at Hawks/Keigo and was using her quirk and lost her voice completely during that fight and ended up just angrily punching him before typing out texts to finish her rant.

WIP for Birds of a Feather

I’m still working on chapter 3, but here’s a sneak peak!

Her hand stilled, the curling iron stopping just before it touched her hair. For a moment Yuriko thought she had heard something, but after a minute of silence she shook her head and turned back to the mirror. Grabbing the piece of hair she wanted to curl again, she clamped the curler and twisted to wrap the hair around the barrel. The woman counted in her head, watching the piece of hair. Unwrapping the hair, she smiled when the curl bounced down and ran her hand through it before grabbing the next section

“I’m liking the curls.”

Yuriko cried out, jumping back as she whipped around. “Ow!” She quickly moved the curler from her neck and slapped her hand on the spot that got hit. “Keigo!” she yelled, glaring at the smirking hero who was leaning against the door frame. “I just burnt my neck thanks to you. Now I have to cover this up.” Tilting her head, she looked in the mirror at the mark. A small and bright red spot was on the left side of her neck. “Thanks…”

“Aw,” Keigo cooed, stepping into the bathroom. “Want me to kiss it and make it better?” He leaned towards her, lips puckering as he lowered to her neck.

A hand shot out, smooshing into the hero’s face as Yuriko glared at him unamused. Keigo grinned under his friend’s hand.

“Nice try, Bird Brain,” Yuriko said, pushing him away. She rolled her eyes as he chuckled.

“What? I can’t try and heal my Songbird? It is my fault since I scared you.” He gave a shrug, raising his arms, and a grin.

“Okay, Emiko,” Yuriko said, brushing her daughter’s blonde hair out of her face. She laughed a little when it fell right back where it was. Of course she got her dad’s unruly hair. “Do you remember where Midnight was?”

Emiko nodded, a smile on her face. “Uh huh! She’s right here, Mommy!” The little girl reached out, flipping over a card revealing the pro hero Midnight. She grinned even more as her mom praised her.

“Do you remember where the other card is?” Yuriko asked, running her hand through her son’s hair. Hiroki swatted her hand away, pouting as he leaned further into her lap making his mom laugh before placing a kiss on his purple hair.

Staring down at the cards that were spread out in neat rows Emiko’s eyes flickered from side to side. Yuriko couldn’t help but see Keigo in her as she searched. She had her dad’s keen eye for things.

Emiko’s brow furrowed and her little wings twitched as she concentrated. Narrowing her magenta eyes, she reached a hand out and flipped another card over. “I found her!” she exclaimed, holding up the two matching cards. Her eyes shined brightly as she showed off her victory.

“Good job, Emi!” Yuriko praised. “Now go again and see if you can find another match.”

Nodding her head, Emiko reached out and flipped a card from the top row over and gasped. “Uncle Tokoyami!” The card revealed the stoic hero with Dark Shadow curled up over his shoulder, both staring up at them. Emiko giggled and grabbed a second card. This gasp was bigger and her eyes went wide. “It’s Daddy!” she practically screamed.

Yuriko winced at the high pitched scream and gave a small laugh. It was moments like this that she was glad the quieter of the twins had the super sonic scream and not the overly excitable one. But there were moments where she questioned if Emiko did have the same quirk as Hiroki, and this was one of them.

“Does it count?” Emiko asked, head whipping around to look at her mom. Her hair flopped into her face before falling back down.

“Nuh-uh!” Hiroki stated, glaring at his sister. He leaned over, pointing at the cards. “They’re not the same.”

“But Uncle Tokoyami is Daddy’s sidekick. He works with him. And their birds!” Emiko said, throwing her hands in the air for emphasis.

“No,” her brother said. His wings puffed out making his mom shift him in her lap a little. “They have to be the same hero.”

The little girl pouted, sitting down and crossing her arms over her chest. Her wings fluttered in irritation. “When’s Daddy coming home. He’d agree with me.”

A tinkle of a bell alerted the family of the family cat. Rin came walking by, rubbing against the little girl’s wings before curling up between the family. Emiko’s face softened a little as she reached out and stroked the cat’s fur.

Yuriko laughed. “I’m sorry, sweetie, but Daddy is working right now. He might not be back before you guys go to bed. It doesn’t matter if Daddy agrees with you or not. You know the rules of the game. We need to finish the game and get you two into bed”

“No fair,” Emiko said, going back into her pouting position.

“What’s not fair, Baby Bird?”

The three looked up to see Hawks walking through the front door. He had a smile on his face as he kicked off his shoes before making his way to his family in the living room.

“Daddy!” the two kids cheered.

In seconds the twins had jumped from their spots in the living room and were flying towards their dad. Keigo laughed as the two barreled into him and he wrapped them in his arms.

“How are my baby birds doing?” he asked, nuzzling his face against them.

“Emiko is cheating at memory game!” Hiroki stated, pointing a finger at his sister.

“Am not!” Emiko shot back. “I found Uncle Tokoyami and I found you. That should count as a match right, Daddy? You two are birds and work together.”

Keigo raised a brow as he walked them over to Yuriko. “I don’t know, Chickadee. I’m pretty sure you know the rules of the game. You need to find two of the same pro heroes.”

“But you’re birds,” she explained again.

“You don’t want to find two cards of your Daddy?” her dad asked, his face falling as he sat across from his wife. He gave her a quick wink before turning his attention back to his daughter. “I’m hurt that you don’t want to find that matching pair.”

Emiko’s eyes widened. “No no, Daddy! I do! I want to find you.”

“Then you can’t win with just me and Uncle Tokoyami, Emiko,” he said, setting her down next to him.

Hiroki grinned down at his sister as he settled into their dad’s lap. “Told you.”

“Fine,” Emiko said, crawling over to her mom and sitting in her lap. She glared at her brother. “It’s your turn then.”

Yuriko shook her head, laughing at the kids’ antics. “How was work today?” she asked, looking up at her husband.

Keigo waved a hand. “Eh, same old same old. Patrol the city. Stop some thugs and then head back to do paperwork at the agency.”

“Sounds pretty easy,” Yuriko said with a smirk just as Hiroki cheered when he found All Might’s match. She placed a kiss on his head, congratulating him.

“It is,” Keigo said, shrugging off his jacket. Feathers flew around as he did, some tickling the children and another rubbing against his wife’s cheek for a moment before coming back to his back. “But I’d rather be here with you guys.” He leaned over, pressing a kiss to his wife’s lips. That earned the two disgusted noises from their kids.

“That’s gross!” Hiroki said, pushing against his dad’s chest to separate his parents.

“Oh is it now?” the dad said. His golden eyes shone with a glint in them as he scooped his two kids back into his arms. “You think kissing is gross? Well what about this?” He placed two large wet kisses on each of his kids’ cheeks laughing as they pushed against his face

“Daddy no!” Emiko shouted, smooshing her dad’s cheek as she scrambled to get out of his hold.

Yuriko laughed, smiling brightly at her family. “Alright, guys. Lets finish this game and get you two to bed.”

“Okay, Mommy…” the twins said dejectedly as they climbed back into their respective parents’ laps.

Keigo smiled and looked at his wife. “How was your day?”

“Chaotic,” she said, smirking as the twins continued their game. “But it was really good.”

“I’m glad,” Keigo said, kissing her cheek that was once again followed by noises of disgust. He laughed, smiling at his family.

Age, Birthday, Star Sign

I only had their ages and hadn't thought of their birthdays haha. This took me a moment to decide on haha. The birthdays were picked randomly so sorry, I don't exactly have an in depth answer for the star signs. I don't know much about them other than what the zodiacs are.

Yuriko is 22 years old and her birthday is August 25th. Which I guess makes her a Virgo!

Maiko is 15 years old and her birthday is May 11th. She's a Taurus!

20. Clothing/Aesthetic

Yuriko's clothing varies from comfy clothes she can wear for rehearsals to jeans and a cute top. I guess she'd fall under the casual style. She's all about comfort, but can dress up for things. If it's something important, family parties (if it calls for something a little more dressy), business parties/dinners with Hideaki and his company (when she's still with him), and dates she will dress up even more and wear a dress or an even nicer top. But daily she's about the comfort.

Maiko is a mix of things. Whenever she's not at school wearing her school uniform, she's at ballet or with friends. At ballet practice she's in her usual rehearsal outfits. If there's a dress rehearsal she's in whichever dance costume she has to wear. When it's not anything dance related her mother picks out what she wears in order to make sure she keeps up the Kenamoto family image. So it's a lot of very fancy clothes for a 15 year old to wear even if others are in a t shirt and jeans. But after hanging out and eventually dating Mitsuya, he starts to design clothes for her when he sees her smiling as she's testing out a piece he had been working on. I'd say with that style it's more on the romantic fashion style. It's similar to what her mother makes her wear in a sense, but it's less suffocating.

32. What steps have they taken to overcome this conflict?

Yuriko's conflict is her thinking that Keigo is actually a part of the League of Villains which she eventually learned it was actually an undercover mission Hawks' is on. She was hurt, angry, and a little scared when she thought he was a villain. She didn't know how to bring it up or even if she should. She eventually tricks Hawks into telling her he was working with the League (using her quirk to trick him) and he eventually tells her what's going on. Now she has to deal with her boyfriend being undercover with the villains and worrying about his safety 24/7. She just supports him when and where she can.

Maiko's conflict is realizing that she's missed out on a lot throughout her childhood and realizing that she doesn't want to be this perfect golden child that her parents expect of her. She starts to learn and experience new things with her new friends from Toman and gets back a semblance of a childhood. Then there's the conflict involving her dad and a local gang which is a whole other deal, but ultimately her conflict is breaking out of her parents' grasp on her and her life.

43. What pokemon would your character be (if they’re already a pokemon/gijinka tell us what they are, and how that’s affected them)?

I could see Yuriko being a Meloetta or a Chatot. Chatot because of her quirk, mimic, but Meloetta because of the singing aspect of that pokemon. I lean towards Moletta more because it just has the aesthetic of Yuriko and the whole musical theater aspect of her life.

Maiko would be Kirlia or Liligant (the Hisuian version) because they both have elegant and ballerina looks to them and it's just Maiko! ~~I also did name my Liligant in Legends Arceus Maiko just for the fun of it haha~~

46. If this character was in a musical, what would their motif be (what kind of instruments do you hear, what’s the tempo, ect).

Yuriko would probably be something on the faster tempo side, but not too loud, like a good middle ground of loud and soft. Something probably intense or powerful/meaningful. Maybe a little sad sometimes with just what's going on in her life with Keigo and all, but ultimately pretty happy and energetic. Probably guitars playing, maybe a saxophone, and a piano. Throw in maybe a cello here and there.

Maiko would be soft and gentle. She's a ballerina and with how polite and kind she is, not to mention how sheltered she is from the world, I don't see anything but that. I can picture a piano, a flute or piccolo, and some violins.

47. What was this character’s biggest turning point in their life, something that changed them almost completely?

This one has a bit of spoilers for the stories in it so just a heads up!!

For Yuriko probably when she gets kidnapped by Dabi and used as bait to get at Hawks. She's experienced plenty of robberies during her retail job when she's not in a musical and even just casual villain attacks on the daily throughout the city. She's used to that. But she's never experienced anything like she does when she encounters Dabi and watches him kill a man right in front of her. It's because of this that she starts to have fears and nightmares after being someone who's never really had any fears other than during auditions.

Maiko's biggest turning point is when she finally realizes that her parents don't care about her. They only care that she makes them look good in front of others. It's when she's used as ransom by a gang to get more money from her father and how long it takes for her father to get to her that she realizes she's not that important. Just the family image. She thought that a turning point was just experiencing things with her friends and that she was finally living a normal life, but no. She's realized that despite the danger she was in, there was no urgency coming from her father and eventually she snaps at her parents.

The sound of feet hitting the metal stairs could be heard echoing as the two women made their way up to the next floor. 

“I’m so excited, Yuriko!” the woman said, blowing a strand of light brown hair out of her face. “Just imagine, you and me as Elphaba and Glinda! We have to do our best and get those parts!” 

Yuriko smiled, laughing at her friend who was basically bouncing as she walked. “I know! I was so scared when we sent in our audition tapes. I thought I wouldn’t hear back. I’m still a little nervous though, Aimi. I know that Chinen recommended us to the director, but I’m just nervous. I’d love to get this role, but-” 

Aimi threw a finger up at her friend, silencing her. “No buts, Yuri! We’re going to do our best and we’re going to land the parts! We have to practice strong and finish strong. We’ve got this!” 

Another laugh came from the other woman as she fished her keys out from her purse. “Yeah, yeah, Aimi. You’re right, I’ll stop the negative talk.” 

“Umeda!”

Yuriko + Dance sent by @nightwingshero

Yuriko laughed as she watched the little girl giggle as she drew. The red crayon moved quickly as Megumi colored in the wings. Megumi had a look of pure concentration with a sparkle in her eyes that Yuriko only ever saw whenever her niece was thinking of Hawks. She swore that one day the little girl would be crushed the next time Keigo got a girlfriend. Although that day had yet to happen.

“That’s okay,” Megumi once said, smiling as she brought the drawing of an elephant to life. The grey crayon drawing floated off the page and ran around the then blonde girl. “He’ll come right back to me when she leaves.”

Yuriko was definitely shocked to hear that from her niece that day. What four - almost five - year old says that?

The woman hummed, smiling as Megumi switched out her red crayon for a green one. “What are you drawing, Megumi?” she asked, leaning closer.

“Keigo and me dancing!” she announced proudly, holding up the unfinished drawing. There was a wide smile on her face as she held up the picture. “Look! Aren’t we cute, Yuriko?”

Yuriko laughed and ran a hand over her niece’s hair. “You’re very cute, Megumi. I’m sure Hawks would love that.”

“Love what?”

The two girls turned their heads to see Hawks walking in from Yuriko’s balcony. He sported a bright grin as he looked at them. He tucked his wings against his body as he approached the two, a couple loose feathers floating through the air.

Megumi gasped, jumping to her feet and running to the hero. “Hawks!”

“Hey, Chickadee!” Hawks greeted, sweeping the little girl up and spinning her around. He laughed as Megumi giggled, her arms spread out as if she was flying. “How’s my number one fan?”

“I’m great!” she said as Hawks gently set her down. “Yuriko and I are drawing. Want to see what I made?”

 “Of course!”

Megumi grabbed the hero’s gloved hand, practically pulling him down to her level as she lead the way back over to her aunt. She quickly snatched up her drawing and held it up to the young man. Her eyes peaked over the edge, shining brightly as she waited for his reaction.

Placing a hand on his chin, Hawks studied the drawing. On it was him, floating in the air holding Megumi. Their hands held together in a dance. A sunset was colored in the back through pink and orange clouds.

His eyes shifted to glance at Megumi who still had the expectant shine in her eyes.

“Well, Megumi,” he said, lowering his hand. He chuckled to himself when he saw the little girl lower the drawing showing the fallen look on her face. The blond gave her a bright smile. “I think it looks incredible. You’re a modern day Kitagawa Utamaro.” He grinned, glancing from one girl to the next. This time his face fell.

“What?” Yuriko asked, making a face of pure confusion.

“Kitagawa Utamaro?” Hawks said slowly. His wings lowered a bit as he still didn’t get the reaction he wanted. “He’s a famous artist from about the 1770s to the 1790s?”

Still nothing.

Yuriko blinked. “Wow you’re actually a lot smarter than I thought, Hawks.” She laughed when he glared at her. “I’m kidding. But come on, I didn’t even know who that was. You think a five year old will? How did you even know that anyway?”

Hawks shrugged, raising his hands. “Some days patrols get boring when nothing happens. I sometimes read, learn something new.”

Megumi giggled as Yuriko smirked at the winged man. The little girl jumped up and down before waving her hand over the drawing. “Hawks, look!”

In seconds the Megumi and Hawks drawings lifted off the paper little by little before they floated into the air in front of the three. The Hawks drawing led little drawing Megumi through the air, around and around in a simple dance. A look of joy on both their faces.

“That’s a great idea, Chickadee!” Hawks exclaimed.

Megumi was swept up in a blur of red and found herself in the hero’s arms. She giggled, her cheeks turning red as Hawks held her the same way the drawing Hawks held the other Megumi. The two floated in the air as Hawks spun them around in the same dance as the drawings. Giggles and laughter filled the air as they stayed that way for a while. The two pairs floated around, spinning around each other in a gentle whirl.

Yuriko couldn’t help but smile, watching as her best friend and niece danced. Hawks was always sweet with Megumi, and this time was no different. It warmed her heart to know that her best friend always made time to make others smile.

Hawks’ golden eyes landed on his friend, meeting her magenta ones. A grin spread across his face as he swooped down, gently placing Megumi down and quickly grabbed her hand in his. He pulled her up from the ground and held her to him.

“Your turn, Songbird!” he proudly stated, a bright smile on his face as he began to turn them around. He smiled at her, watching Yuriko’s face turn red. A feather floated up next to the woman’s face and Hawks laughed. “You match my feathers.”

“Shut up, Bird Brain,” Yuriko said, turning her head to the side to avoid his gaze as her face got hotter.

The hero smiled fondly, continuing their slow dance as they floated in the air. His hold on her waist tightened a little more, making her look back up at him.

“You know,” Yuriko started, “you’re only this good at dancing because your feet aren’t touching the ground.”

Hawks laughed, throwing his head back. “You and I both have seen me dance on my feet. I spend most of my time in the air. I’m not exactly the most coordinated on the ground.”

“I know, you face planted when I tried to teach you a dance.”

Megumi giggled, watching as the two floated back down to the ground. “He did? Can you teach him another dance, Yuriko? Like the one that you tried to teach Ito, but he was being a butt face and wouldn’t learn.”

“He is a butt face isn’t he?” Hawks whispered as he leaned down to the little girl’s level. He grinned when he earned a shrill laugh.

“Hawks!” Yuriko snapped, glaring down at her friend. “Don’t say that stuff to Megumi.”

“But he is!” Megumi huffed, crossing her arms as she pouted. “He wouldn’t even play with me when I saw him last. He was on his phone the entire time.”

“That’s because he was working, sweetie,” Yuriko explained, watching as the drawings of Megumi and Hawks floated back down to their piece of paper.

“Me and Shinso don’t like him,” the little girl said, her face set in a scowl as she sat down. She grabbed a purple crayon and a new piece of paper and began drawing. “Shinso also thinks he’s a butt face.”

WIP Tag Game

I thought I’d try my hand at starting a WIP tag game for once. I promised @nightwingshero I’d use this edit she made for this scene haha! It was created based on a conversation we had about this WIP and some how was turned into this edit.

This is a scene from my My Hero Academia fic Birds of a Feather. Hope you like it!

“Get out!” Yuriko screamed, backing away from him. 

Hawks’ face fell as he watched her back away, fear clear as day all over her face. “Baby, please, I promise I’m not going to hurt you.” He held his hands up, showing her he wasn’t armed or anything to try and calm her. Taking a step forward he halted when he watched his girlfriend take a step back. “Yuriko, just let me ex-“ His eyes widened and he ducked as a pillow went soaring through the air. “Really?” he asked, mouth hanging open as he watched Yuriko grab another pillow from the couch and throw it as well. He caught that one throwing it to the side. “Yuriko, just stop.”

“No! I want you out of my apartment now!” Tears started forming in her eyes as she threw another pillow. “I can’t believe you! How could you?”

“Just let me explain!” The blond shouted back. 

“Explain what? How you’ve been having secret phone calls with a villain?”

Hawks waved his hands up and down, shushing her as he approached her. “Keep your voice down for crying out loud.”

“Make me!” The purple and pink haired woman glared at him. Her face scrunched up in fury as she grabbed another pillow, chucking it at the hero with no luck as he continued to get closer. “My boss doesn’t like the idea of us working with a hero,” she said, her voice an exact copy of Dabi’s low raspy one. Her voice quickly changed to Hawks’ cheerful voice. “I can’t imagine the League of Villains exactly being keen on working with a hero. One of the top pro heroes to boot.”

Hawks’ eyes widened. “You did hear that…”

“Of course I did. You’ve been acting weird for weeks now. What was I supposed to do? Just assume you were okay? I wanted to know what was going on, but you always brushed it off. You wouldn’t tell me.” She grabbed the last pillow on the couch, throwing it at the blond hero with an angry groan. “I feel so stupid! Do you know how much it hurt to hear you say what you just told me on the phone? My best friend - my boyfriend - is a villain! I told you I loved you and then I learn this?” Her voice went back to his voice, cracking a little as she spoke. “I’ve heard a bit of your cause and honestly I can agree. Things need to change.” Her voice switched back to hers, cracking even more. “I love you, Keigo, and this is what you do?”

“Yuriko, baby, stop. You’re going to lose your voice. Just let me explain, please,” he said, finally reaching the angered woman. He grabbed her hands, rubbing his thumbs over them. His heart fell when Yuriko pulled away, still glaring at him. “I promise it’s not what you think.”

“Just let me explain, Yuriko,” she copied, voice cracking again. A scoff came from her. “Explain what, Keig-“

Her mouth opened and closed, but nothing came out. Her hands balled into fists and she stomped her feet in anger. A couple punches were thrown at the hero’s chest and she glared at him, mouth hanging open in a silent scream.

Yuriko + Perform and Center Stage sent by @oathofoaks

The curtain dropped and the lights dimmed as the last notes of the orchestra played. The audience was already on their feet, clapping. In seconds the orchestra started up again, playing the overture over the clapping and cheering.

Keigo smiled as the curtain opened up again revealing the first group of ensemble as they ran out to the front taking their bow. He watched as group after group went before the main cast walked out. Each one performer receiving their own applause and small cheers.

Finally, two people came out from each wing. There was the actor who played Boq and there was Yuriko.

They met in the center, grabbing each other’s hand before walking to the front of the stage. A bright smile was on Yuriko’s face as she looked at the audience and took her bow.

Keigo’s clapping got louder as he let out a loud cheer of his own, grinning madly at his girl. Next to him Yuriko’s family cheered just as loud as they watched their daughter and sister step off to the side.

The final performers, Aimi and the woman who played Elphaba, appeared through the clock door at the back of the stage. They received the loudest cheers as the two woman rushed to the front, bowing and hugging each other. Keigo grinned and cheered for the actresses, watching Aimi bounce a little on her feet. His eyes shifted to Yuriko and she had just as bright of a smile as she watched her friend.

The cast met in the middle, all holding hands for one final bow as the audience cheered louder and louder for them. Orchestra blasting the music as the cast waved at the audience as the curtains fell, ending the show.
