Yumalia's Reunion

Back on my Yumalia brainrot, I can't get over all the layers and depths of their brief interaction in episode 11.

The moment Yugo is done defying his mother and forced to watch her leave, for she had long made her choice, Amalia doesn't hesitate to reach out to him and hold his hand, which Yugo immediately squeezes right back. Even with the threat of imminent war for her people's safety, Amalia's first instinct is to go to Yugo and offer whatever comfort she can, and he just lets her because if there's someone who can ground him, it's Amalia.

That's exactly what she did at the end of season 3. Not only did she tell Oropo he would never be Yugo because Yugo would never willingly or knowingly sacrifice anyone for his cause (even during his fight with Ad during the OVAs he always thought his brother would eventually come back), but she unknowingly dissuaded the fears and insecurities that'd been plaguing him throughout the entire season, both regarding his past actions and his own relationship with her. Because even after all they'd been through and his insecurities hurting Amalia deeply, she still chose him, and she still reaffirmed her love for him in such a way it would allow for their interactions in season 4 to be that much more openly affectionate and less restrained.

But not only that, back then she was also there to ground him when Oropo's passing and his absorbing of the Eliotropes overwhelmed him, helping him see all the good despite what they had lost.

And she is doing that yet again when they finally reunite.

But there is so much more going on here. So many emotions running deep between them.

Look at Yugo's expression, that mixture of surprise and awe etched onto his face. I feel like this is the moment where it truly clicks for him just how much he's changed and all the possibilities his new body entails, especially for their relationship. And Amalia is just happy, happy that he is alive and happy that he can finally see and feel like the great king and warrior she always knew was already there.

For the first time since he's met her, Yugo doesn't have to look up to meet his love's eyes, and you can clearly see how the mere thought takes him aback. But I believe there's so much more to it, so many things left unsaid.

He's looking at her like she's finally within reach, and not only because now they're closer in height. Yugo had to spent the last few years of his life watching how the love of his life grew into the most beautiful flower in Sadida's garden, into a queen, while he remained stuck in his child-like body, with only a title for show despite he too being royalty.

It's all in his eyes!

He isn't just looking at Amalia. He is staring at her like a dying man stares at his salvation, like someone who's been wandering in the dessert for ages looks at an oasis. And it's not just because they might finally have a shot, but because she is there and she is real.

Despite Yugo's unrelenting optimism and will, upon being captured by the Nécromes, a part of him had probably been forced to accept he would never see Amalia again, either because he would remain the last of his days as their prisoner, or because she would too fall soon.

Given his predicament, thanks to Oropo and Qilby's intervention, Yugo was most likely running on adrenaline when he noticed the portal in the Sadida forest and what it would mean for Amalia. His mind was set on protecting her, not on the fact that they would be reunited after such a horrible ordeal. And I don't think it really sunk in that he would see her again until she touched him, until she literally became tangible and attainable.

But she is real, and she is with him, they are together again. Only this time, they might actually get to be together.

Look at such level of intimacy! Such tenderness mixed with the underlying unbriddled passion they feel for one another! Yugo might have been shown being okay with revealing his wings to his friends, but he always took the hood off himself; but not with Amalia. With her he trusts her enough to let her do the honours and all he can do is melt under her touch.

Seeing Amalia again after being held prisoner in the Nécroworld and forcibly aged has allowed Yugo to fall in love with her all over again and, more importantly, to finally allow himself to love her with his whole being in return. No more holding back, no more second thoughts, no more take-backs. No more denying themselves what they have been desperately yearning for.

He loves Amalia and she loves him. And he's going to hold onto her for as long as they both live.

And I am so not normal about them.

Wakfu Webtoon La grande vague - Episode 1

My thoughts on the first episode of this webtoon. Technically spoiler but nothing too explicit.

Ankama delivered. First episode and I'm already stressed out!

When I said I wanted to see Dragon Dad, I didn't mean like that. WTF, go help Efrim and Nora, instead of meddling with my boy! Although, tbh I don't think that's really him, more like stasis corrupting an already fragile mind. Dragon Dad was not seen caring about this world or his kids before, so why now?

That painting is nice. But then, I think about what will happen between my precious Amalia and Aurora and I want to cry.

Not some nobody calling my darling "Dame Amalia". It's Queen Amalia to you! I guess we know who might side with "that woman"!

Just realised Aurora that woman is one of the two female antagonists linked to flying creatures. She can turn into a bird (full and partial transformation) and Lady Echo was a dragon-eniripsa. 🐦🦅

Not the "growing discontent among the people" coming to snatch my Yumalia peace! I'm French, but I don't want a revolution! ✋

Not my baby shouldering that political mess on her own! Yugo, I get it, you're dealing with A LOT... but I feel for my child too! This can't go on forever. You're a team! Also, where's Ad?

I love the Sadidas' design! 🌳 Since season 1, they always have had something unique about them (hairstyle, clothes, accessories). More than half of their territory is underwater, the rest is under attack every season, they've lost 2 kings in less than a year, and they have no true ally among the Twelve. And no, a bunch of underage wakfu-powered refugees from another planet led by twin demi-gods with Fabergé eggs doesn't count. Still, even if they're struggling, the Sadidas do it in style! 🙌

I miss the simple days when the biggest problems were time management (season 1) and annoying siblings (season 2) and the solution was punching them hard enough.

Overall, I'm hyped, giddy, disappointed but not surprised (yumalia), anxious and just waiting for Episode 2 to come out and further break my heart. Just a normal day in the life of a Wakfu fan.

My heart is filled with Yumalia Happiness

The last time I've been this happy for a ship was when Ishida Sui published the 125th chapter of Tokyo Ghoul :re.

I've been shipping Yumalia since Season 2. To me, it was obvious the writers would eventually pair up Yugo and Amalia, given all the little hints from S1 onwards. Now, I don't agree with everything the writers did with these characters and their romance, especially the senseless drama. However, simply seeing these two little beans finally happy really touched my heart.

I'm still randomly laughing and smiling and crying tears of joy! I swear it feels like TG:re all over again and I'm here for it!

I want to publicly apologise to the Great Dragon. 🙇

After a cool-down period, I dove into Wakfu Wikia and re-read the first chapter of WAKFU: The Great Wave.

I've realised the dragon who invaded my boy's dream and gave Yumalia a case of coitus interruptus (a wet dream ?) was NOT Yugo's father.

*Beware of potential spoilers for Dofus the Movie, Wakfu, Wakfu the webtoon and Waven*

The silhouette shown during the dream sequence reminded me of two dragons from the World of Twelve.

Theory #1 : Grougalorasalar

The first one is Grougalorasalar, the Primordial Ebony dragon. Yes, the same dragon linked to Master Joris.

The picture from the webtoon is very similar to Rasalar, especially the wings and horns.

I can't show the webtoon, but here is the Ebony dragon. Looks like if Godzilla and a giant bat had a baby.

However, I don't know how Grougalorasalar could have entered Yugo's dream or how he would have known about the threat the Eliatrope king might represent. I mean, sure, Yugo is a walking disaster but his reputation is not (yet) that bad, right?

As far as I know, Grougalorasalar doesn't have a "dream-hijacking" ability. Plus, like in all good old fantasy settings, the Ebony Dragon and all Black dragons from the WoT is a malignant creature, symbolising Black Fire or Stasis... or so the Wakfu wikia says.

If that's the case, why would Grougalorasalar seemingly try to prevent Yugo from doing what he does best, "unwittingly endangering the world" ?

That's why I'm more inclined to believe this is the work of Draconiros.

Theory #2 : Draconiros

His dragon form is flawless.

Draconiros is the Master of Dreams and the Lord of Nightmares. He lives in the Kingdom of Dreams, within the Astral Plane. As such, he can manipulate dreams as he wishes. This could include hijacking someone else's dreams or even changing his appearance within said dreams.

In the wikia, it is said that Draconiros also seems to have a part in the events preceding the Eliocalypse, possibly trying to prevent it.

Since he has access to dreams, this dragon could know about the vision the Eliacube gave Oropo and how Yugo might be linked to the almost destruction of the World of Twelve (WoT). If so, it would make sense for Draconiros to contact Yugo and announce his upcoming courtesy visit. This dragon is a true gentleman! 🙏

Still, if Draconiros is really behind Yugo's nightmare, why would he pick the form of another dragon? It could also be that his true form has been redesigned for the webtoon, like they did with Nora in the tv show, idk.

Theory #3 : Idk for sure but it's not the Great Dragon

Either way, an interference from any Twelvian dragon makes more sense than the Great Invisible Dad trolling his son just to say "I hate you! Wait till I get home! 👿👿👿".

This is especially true, taking into account what is known about the Great Dragon. He is the incarnation of Stasis, the energy of destruction. Why would he bother preventing the end of one world among so many? Plus, he wasn't shown interacting with the Eliatropes back in the day, even when they were facing extinction, thanks to the Mechasms. he Great Dragon is the incarnation of Stasis, the energy of destruction.

Nah, Great Dragon "danced" with the Eliatrope Goddess, which helped her get the kids she wanted, and DIPPED! Does he even know the names of his kids? There's a reason they are called Eliatropes and not Stasisians or something. 😒

These are speculations based on my small understanding of the Wakfu universe. I don't play any MMORPG from the Wakfu franchise. I have not read all the available materials, apart from the manga-style Wakfu comics, which are a must-read for fans of the series and take place after Season 2.

For all I know, Yugo's nightmare could be sent by someone else or something else entirely.

For example, if the gods were not MIA, I would have thought Osamodas, the OG dragon master, or Sram, the biggest troll in Twelvian History, would have something to do with this nightmare.

Ngl, I was hoping this was a nightmare created by Yugo's trauma (ptsd) or his link with Toross. I really want to see this antagonist come back to haunt Yugo somehow. Maybe he can still make an appearance as a hallucination (PTSD?) or as himself from the Necroworld, channelling Rotalström (still in the Sadida kingdom), the stasis he stabbed Yugo with or the wakfu he ingested from the Eliatrope king. Anything to see Toross again! 🙏🙏🙏

I cannot wait for Episode 2 to drop and obliterate my theories!

Just read Wakfu The Great Wave, chapter 3.

I'm so angry and frustrated!

That revelation was expected but I still hate that trope with a passion!

Currently writing an essay, just to vent and rage a little (a lot). I might post it later, since it's already 3 AM.

Finishing the chapter made me realise I should try to wait a few weeks to "binge read" because how am I supposed to wait until next week?!

At least Yugo and Amalia showed a united front... but then again, so did that father-daughter duo. UGh!!

I swear this webtoon will be the death of me!

Welp, here's the short version of what I wanted to say about Chapter 3 THE GREAT WAVE

Obvious spoilers and some personal theories

I believe Aurora is pregnant and it is Armand's kid BUT she lied about Armand giving her the throne.

She didn't tell Armand, either because she didn't have the time (doubtful) or because she realised she was pregnant after she had arrived in the Osamodas kingdom.

There's no way the Armand we knew for 4 seasons would not have make immediate preparations to secure a future for his wife and unborn child, should something happen to him.

King Amrand would have mentioned this big news to Amalia, instead of joking with Pinpin about bad breath.

Aurora and her father are playing a dangerous game of thrones (sorry, I had to put it somewhere) and the outcome will hopefully match the hype. Amalia vs Aurora, when?! The Osamodas king is looking forward to expanding his dominion, and his daughter being pregnant with Armand is the perfect opportunity. Amalia and Yugo are too green, in regard to politics, and too straightforward and used to directness (fight) to succeed against a veteran politician like that king or even against a young royal who, unlike them, thrived in the political cesspool. In the name of MCU's Falcon, Aurora is out of line but she's right, when she says Amalia is better off adventuring. Yumalia will need lot of help (maybe Joris) to navigate this mess.
