Dual Swords AU

AU where Yuma and Makoto both are together in the contract, and work to uncover Kanai Ward’s Ultimate Secret.

For context, Makoto was kicked out of his seat as CEO of Amaterasu when he was framed for the murder of the former CEO of Amaterasu, and no one takes his side. He goes on the run, trying to figure out how he can save Kanai Ward from both Yomi’s and the Unified Government’s wrath’s, and decides he needs help from his fellow greatest mind: Number One of the World Detective Organization. The two would then make a contract with Shinigami so they can solve the unsolved mysteries in Kanai Ward by force, while believing they are brothers and detectives-in-training.

*yuma's visiting the school when he suddenly stops in his tracks! he then reaches out to gently tug on shuichi's sleeve, his eyes wide as he sees a certain troublesome teddy bear in the distance!*

"Oh! I-I think I've seen that plush before! There was a ramen shop that was near the agency and one of the pictures on the wall looked almost identical to it. I didn't know that teddy bear was a mascot, let alone for such a prestigious school." *he then looks down at the ground as he starts shuffling his feet, a flustered look on his face as he avoids the slightly taller detective's gaze*

"I-if it's not too much trouble, can we... go and see it? I-I know it's just a robot since I can see it walking and moving its arms around, b-but... Ah, s-sorry, you probably see it every day so I guess you would be kind of sick of seeing it, haha... ah..." *he seems genuinely interested in seeing the little mascot, his gaze flicking over towards the plush bear even if the small detective ended up clamming up again. however, it seems as if he's wholly unaware of just how much of a menace monokuma is...*

Since Yuma was visiting the school, Shuichi decided to show him around. He instantly grimaces when seeing Monokuma up ahead, and was about to steer Yuma in another direction, until he came to a halt when he felt the other tug on his sleeve. "Hm? Ah-" He looks towards Monokuma again as Yuma explains. "I see....and that's...well...." ("How do I tell him...") That the mascot in question is nothing but a constant troublemaker!!! Looking back towards the shy boy, he blinks in surprise at his request. "You... want to see him?" He could already tell, but now Shuichi could confirm for sure, that Yuma is completely unaware of how Monokuma truly is. And as much as he wants to outright say no, that he'd rather them avoid him...

"....." He would just feel too guilty, saying no to such a genuine request. Especially with how Yuma really looks like he wants to see him... ("Yeah, I'm sick of seeing him, alright. For more reasons than that...") But he decided not to say that part out loud, instead giving a reluctant sigh before he nods his head. "N...No, it's alright. We can...go see him. But just to give you a warning, our 'mascot' here likes to be very troublesome and drive you crazy with the unnecessary things he says and does. So just... prepare yourself for that when ee do see him. Of course, I'll make sure he doesn't try to mess with you too much..."

He gave a satisfied smile when Ya agreed to escorting Monotaro. "Indeed... a lot of his actions just seem so odd, with no rhyme or rhythm. Yeah...that"s why I'm beginning to think there may be more to this that meets the eye... oh-" He lets out a small noise when Monotaro slips out of his grasp. But seeing him tug on both their sleeves, couldn't help but make him chuckle. It was surprisingly super cute... "Well, now. Looks like someone has perked up. Ahaha; yeah, I'm ready. Let's get going."

With that, he begins walking alongside the two while readying his flashlight as well. As they're walking, he's quitely and carefully glancing about while the bear listens for any noises. Even if he's positive the demon is not on this floor, anymore, he still wanted to be careful, just in case... Then.... that's when.... "-!" Shuichi saw that glimpse of fire as well, also coming to an alarmed stop.

"D.... ! Did you guys see that? Was that...a speck of fire? Not to mention, it was situated far too high in the air for it to possibly be Monokuma playing a prank on us, again." Peering his flashlight further down as much ass possible, his eyes widen further when seeing that the room he just have disappeared into, was the data processing room. "The...data processing room? Why... did he go in there? I thought the last thing he would do is stay on the very floor with all of us on it. And... could that have been..."

Though when glancing at Monotaro's terrified reaction, he didn't think he needed to take a guess at if that was their guy or not. "...That was him, wasn't it, Monotaro..." He kneels down to rub the bear's back. "Calm down...he won't hurt you, I promise. Hey, Yuma...let's hurry and bring Monotaro to the stairs, then head straight to that room. If that was him, then we'll have him cornered...!"

Yuma nods at the question, more than happy to help the little teddy bear. Even if he's still not quite sure what to think about him and the other bears, it just wouldn't sit right with him to let the tiny cub fend for himself.

"Well, this 'demon' doesn't seem as if he'll stop anytime soon. If anything, I feel as if he's getting even more bold. Clearly he has no qualms with what he just did with Monotaro. We agree that he wasn't going to hurt him, but what was the point in just leaving him wrapped up in the principal's office? Either this 'demon' has some odd sense of humor or there's something we're just not getting. Even with the eccentric students that attend this school, I just can't imagine one of them would do something like this for so long with so little gain..."

He snaps out of his thoughts as the little cub wiggles out of his senpai's grasp and gently starts tugging on both of their sleeves. It seems Monotaro has perked up quite a bit knowing the two will keep him safe from the 'demon'.

"Right. Are you ready for our little escort mission, Senpai?" He goes over to the door as the tiny cub easily keeps pace, Yuma readying his flashlight as Monotaro hops up, opens the door, and stares at the two, the tiny cub getting antsy as he stomps his little feet.

Yuma can't help but chuckle at the display, finding the cub's pouting to be quite cute. While Yuma hopes that Monokuma will indeed be waiting for his son on one of the lower floors, he doesn't exactly have much faith in the more mischievous bear being so kind. If anything, Yuma at least hopes that Monotaro will keep to his word and not wander around the school at night, although something tells him the fear of potentially being caught by the 'demon' again will deter the little teddy bear.

Once everyone is ready, Yuma peeks out into the hallway while Monotaro bravely takes a few steps out, his little ears twitching like crazy as he listens for any other noises. Monotaro proceeds to lead the way as they make their way down the hallway and turn the corner, the stairs leading down to the third floor now visible at the far end of the hallway.

However, any excited remarks Monotaro would have had are cut short as something moves between them and the staircase, Yuma stopping in his tracks as he just barely catches a glimpse of a small ball of fire before it disappeared into the adjacent hallway. While he recalls getting tricked by Monokuma's red eye, in no way could it be him as this one was easily over five feet in the air. Unless Monokuma was standing on a ladder, there's no way he could have done that...

Monotaro trembles as he listens to the sounds of a door quietly opening and then just as quickly closing, the poor cub frozen in place as he looks towards the hallway that leads to the data processing room. That had been the same thing that Monotaro had caught a glimpse of before being bearnapped...!

Gang, Pagan, and Yuma all had ties to the Triad. The Triad is a huge Chinese transnational crime syndicate with origins in Hong Kong (if I’m not mistaken).

Ultimately, the Triad and Kang Tao (Taiwan-based weapons manufacturer in Cyberpunk) had some deals going on. Some little shady business opportunities. After all, the Triad is all over the region and given how focused on the organization Gang Min is… They traveled and made their connections.

So when Kang Tao is looking to establish some roots in Night City… They need some familiar faces to go do the dirty work. And who comes to mind? The Min family.

Well… Pagan and Yuma, because after all, Pagan frankly got tired of Gang’s shit and killed him (which is canon to his usual universe).

Rather than become royals, the duo became leaders to their own subsection of the Triad (Pagan taking Gang’s place and all). So, they lead their own little operation akin to other gangs like the Tyger Claws (more specifically in their hierarchy and structure).

Yuma is a skilled netrunner. She can handle herself in face-to-face combat like you wouldn’t believe, but she prefers playing her games. Continually rebooting optics, slipping a weapons malfunction daemon onto a network, whistling for enemies. Then, when she decides she’s had enough, she breaches the network with the cyberpsychosis daemon.

Pagan on the other hand operates like your typical merc. Flashy in his style, he likes to let his enemies know he is there and that have been bad little people. He probably would have the monowire cybernetic and switch between using that and his pistol.

The ghost stickers back on the console, and Yuma completely ignoring Shinigami, except for those few times he glances at the ghost: he imagines she must have done something to especially irritate him, as he was of unaware of what she did last night while possessing his body...!

("Wh-What's up with these two? Shinigami, what did y...") "O-Oh?" He snaps out of his thoughts when Yuma asks him that, before giving a quick nod. "Y-Yeah, I'd like one, too, thank you! I'll wait here while you do that..." Mostly because he wants to ask Shinigami what is going on, doing exactly that the moment Yuma exits the room ("Shinigami...what did you do this time? You must have really made Yuma mad!")

("Hmmmphhh!!!!") Very louds huffs the pouty spirit! ("All I did was pull a little silly prank on him, is all! Now he's being a big jerkface and completely ignoring me! And then acting like I'm gonna eat you or something!! He's so so mean to me, Master!! And those stupid st-stickers, too! I don't care if he gets madder, I'm not following him to the kitchen! Being so cruel to this cute little ghost...!") She fake sniffles, as she 'snuggles' up against Yuta!!

("I...I-I see.... something tells me there's a little more to that, but I guess it's probably best I don't ask for too much details...")
