Not sure if i need to re -up the cut since this is a new reblog in the chain, but i'm gonna anyways, spoilers for all the social links that this spreadsheet did end up changing

So right off the rip, the obvious problem with my 3 step plan was getting all the party members to have their own social links for both routes, something that was... easier in some cases than others, and there's nowhere that's shown more than these two meatheads

Shinjiro was... well, kinda obvious to just paste over the already existing male MC Moon Arcana, for reasons that i hope i don't have to explain and i'm honestly just not going to. on the other hand, however, Akihiko was very much not easy to make work. Like, he had to be there, having Shinji and Akihiko be the Moon and the Star respectively was just too good to pass up, but I couldn't just, like, remove Mamoru, his story arc was connected just a bit too deeply into the other sports club stuff for me to just slice him out of the plot, and my third rule still applied here, change/remove as little as possible.

well, to do that, i needed to shift some things around, and that meant finagling with the Sports Club Links. Chariot actually remained basically unchanged (which yes, does mean that my grand project to change all of P3's Social Links involved not changing 15 of them)

but this lead to the most complicated change of them all, the Strength Social Link

Now, this one was, admittedly, very fucking weird, and i was of two minds about this for sure, which is why there's an asterisk on both Mamoru and Koromaru. in order for this to work, either Mamoru and Yuko needed to go so that Koromaru could get the Strength slot on his own, or Koromaru had to have his SL replaced with the nighttime walks, and Mamoru had to be completely changed. This was admittedly an interesting exercise, since it meant that Mamoru would get taken out of the male Social Links and had to somehow find his way into the female Social Links, despite not actually being involved in the MC's sports club at all for obvious reasons. My explanation for this is very much only a hypothetical and very much requires alot of explanation, but it does mean that Mamoru would be open as a love interest for FeMC, just in case there are any crackshippers out there that would have a field day with that.

with those out of the way, the rest was much easier for the most part. Junpei would just replace Kenji to take his place in the Magician slot (because let's be honest, Male MC literally only befriends Kenji because he's the first person who happens to bump into him after Igor tells him to go make friends)

Ken ended up taking the Justice spot, which did mean that the Treasurer Link had to go, but i didn't want to get rid of Chihiro, so she ends up getting moved somewhere else later (and yes, i'm just getting rid of the Ken romance option, it can basically still be there as a platonic thing like it essentially already is, but let's please not have it have a heart, yeah?)

another spot that i ended up giving up for plot reasons would be giving Fortune to Ryoji, because holy shit he is so incredibly plot relevant, he really should have a Social Link for both routes (which, honestly, just for the sake of the fans, i decided should count as a romance)

and to round everything out and find a home for the newly displaced Chihiro and Keisuke, i decided to kick out Bebe and slap them both into the Home Ec club. Both of them would still have their respective roles in terms of the plot (Chihiro isn't getting demoted from the student council or anything), but they're just gonna be taking over the narrative role for Home Ec activities

and with that, i've officially gone over ev- what do you mean i missed one? the literal first and most important Social Link in the whole game? shit, hold on

The Fool Arcana is mostly unchanged, obviously

like, technically you could move the party buffs over to their respective social links since they all have one, but Koromaru doesn't, and honestly it would be changing too much

regardless, that's every Social Link in the game gone over and changed to make a more "definitive" version of them. Obviously, when we started getting trailers for the real P3R, none of these ended up coming true, but looking back on them, it is interesting to see what i was thinking at the time and talk about how remakes should be treated for games that would be seriously helped out by modern changes. Would changing the Social Links at all make it less of a Persona 3 remake? Would not changing them be a waste of the character dynamics and a jarring change for people coming into the series from the P5 and P4 rereleases? who knows?

does it really matter? eh, probably not

y'know, back when we first started getting teases and leaks about a potential Persona 3 remake, me and a friend of mine broke out a spreadsheet to go over our pipe dream what-if best case scenarios for a revamped list of social links (which honestly might be worth going over in some detail now that we have the actual remake coming out so soon), but of all of the stuff on there, i'm still so happy that this actually turned out to be real

I’m probably use this blog for writing, talking about said fandoms, obsessively thinking about my ocs for each said fandom, and making very politically(/j) incorrect analysis about characters. And, more! I’m sorry this is so long, really just ask me abt anything and it’ll eventually happen.

Last thing: I might post about my own stories that are… painfully unfinished, so here’s a brief intro about each (they’re all heavily inspired by my respective fandoms, we don’t talk abt that):

*Insert Dramatic Title* (IDT): A robot by the name of Edis is asked to save humanity from a prophecy stating that, from five years from now, the world will end.

Slaughterhouse (SH): A pair of twins live in a “Haven Town” where there outside world was shrouded into an apocalypse. They learn how to truly survive in such a restrictive environment and find out the subtle corruption of their system.

‘Vest of the ‘Usual (VOU): A young boy has unusual abilities that leads him to work in the government, which depicts him having to do the unthinkable: go to school. And, do his job, that too.

Act I (A1): Olesia Lexina has had one dream all her life: protect humanity from the evil that is godlyhood! This follows her journey through the ideal of becoming on of the top members of the “Guardians of Humanity”.

Project: New World (P:NW): The government has allowed a project and organization by the name of “New World” to attempt to “purify humanity of all of its wrongdoings” and it has taken the world by storm; unfortunately, Chara has absolutely no interest in any of it.

The Eight Tragedies (T8T): An Angel has come to earth to ultimately destroy everyone on it, in which a humanities major named Reminiscence gives the world (her two friends) a chance to fix their problems before it can do so—by going into the past eight times to fix mistakes that should’ve never happened.

Majic Girl: BOOM ★ (MG:★): this one is something I’ve been meaning to get motivation to work on properly. A young freshman girl watches her whole world turn upside down (close to literally) to as some sort of eldritch horror resurfaces the earth! And she is one of the few people making the attempt to kill it.

$1 Supermarket ($1): The economy as we know it had crashed after inflation has risen way too high to the point even the upper class finds it hard to buy anything. Thus, a brand new chain store by the name of $1 Supermarket has arisen! Where everything is exactly $1! And there’s like, a bunch of monsters everywhere, but that’s besides the point.

Finished initially translating and relettering the contents page. A few of the names I've given the chapters are provisional because I'm thrown the hell off by katakana that seems like it's being used like hiragana, and hiragana being used instead of kanji. I also tried translating some of the text on the author avatars, but a few of them are just too small and I can't read them to save my life.

I'm still a learner, so I make no promises of perfect accuracy. That said, the chapters and credits as I make them are as follows:

4 Panel Gag Battle! Over-The-Hill Tuner by Kari Erika Note: In Japanese, this one is Abataaru Chyuunen. It's a mix of the word "tuner" and the word for "middle aged". I tried to translate the play on words as best I could, but it's not quite a perfect fit. We're Hired by Mochizuki Kazuomi Intripigation by Tsushima Shuu Note: This one seems to be a mix of "interrigation" written in katakana and the word for demolishing, pulling down, throwing off balance. It has several meanings, so I took a guess. I'll change it if I get to the chapter and it's clearly wrong. Smile Again by Sakano Chitose (Provisional) Trouble in The Sun by Sumino Hirune Note: I didn't really get this one, so I took a guess. Double checking with a machine translation I'm way off; I think I misread one of the kanji when looking it up or something. I'll fix it. Also I misspelled the credit. Quiz King Championship by Aoba Hayato A Fun Holiday by Kawata Yuko Two Truths Theory by Oumi Waki Note: Yeah, I don't know if this is accurate at all. I couldn't make much sense of it. Whoa!
