heres more teacher rin au!!!!
ill have some more deets under the cut about this hehe
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome back aoex fandom… I’ve decided for this AU to be called “Tightrope”!!!! Haha,, yeah it’s definitely not what i was saying earlier in that ask..
But yeah!!! I’ll be tagging any post related to this AU under a tag from now on! ;)
(The rest of this will contain spoilers from the manga, but then again this whole AU has been spoilers..)
Alrighty, this time we’re going over the reason for Rin’s appearance… Just as in the manga, Rin becomes “unstable” through Yukio breaking his sword, except in this tightrope au, their relationship was much more rockier than it was in the manga. So much stuff that wasn’t cleared up, lots of avoidance, not so much emotional stability.. There’s a whole background to how Yukio and Rin’s upbringing would’ve happened in this AU because of their little aged-up situation— some events are interpreted differently to fit and others are just completely new, you can assume— so obviously things happened differently between them without Yukio being the cram school’s teacher and Rin actually attending said school to begin with…
So, now that Yukio left Rin for Illuminati, leaving him completely lonely and without a proper purpose to live for in life… Rin’s demonic nature is left in a “tightrope-like” situation.
See how the title relates? And boy does it apply for many other things too.
Where is Mephisto to help with all this you ask? Oh he tried to offer Rin help by going into the past, but even after learning of his origins (I don't think it helped his self-esteem much tbh) Rin still finds himself unable to "restabilize". Like in the manga, it's not until Rin truly accepts both sides to himself is he able to truly stabilize. This AU is obviously more heavy on the twins terrible communication and relationship, so obviously this will be harder for Rin.
For as long as he can remember, Rin's always thought of himself as a nuisance to his family. And with Fujimoto's death, everything seems to be Rin's fault and he's not stupid enough as to not notice the pattern. Unfortunately, this really eats away at Rin, especially with how distant Yukio was with him. So until Rin can learn to accept the uglier parts of himself, he won't be stable. And Yukio is the most important part for him to realize that.
Now… time for the appearance explanation.
When Rin first "unstabilizes" his hair, ears, and eyes change (other smaller details like his canines as well as the newest addition of little nubs on his forehead). The more "unstable" he is, the more prominent these features become—his hair is wholly whitish-blue, his ears and canines are pointier, his eyes are sharper and more vibrant, and his little horns get bigger.
After becoming a not-so-substitute-teacher for the cram school, these features start to become smaller or fade away!!!! Depending on Rin’s emotional state—negative emotions lead to instability and positive emotions leads to stability— his appearance changes. The happier and healthier he is, the more his black roots take place (his original hair color) and the duller his other features become!
Now as for his flames.. I think some logic may be off canon for this but it’ll be fine! He can freely use his flames like he does during the final war-against-satan arc, however, his state of stability changes how precisely he can use them. The more unstable he is, the broader and rougher the attacks. When he’s more stable, his attacks can be more precise and controlled, such as shaping his flames into weapons and other uses.
Anywho, I’ll have to start on making these differences more noticeable for the Rin’s I’m drawing out, because I do like to draw him at different times of his life (if you take note of his hair,,, its one of his best indicators ahah). But yes. Now that I’ve written this concept out (after I drew these sketches whoops) I’ll be showing off a little more of the story once some heavy inspiration hits me. I hope you guys enjoy hearing about this AU as much as I love writing and drawing it!!!!! I’d love to hear feedback or any fic recommendations..! They are my fuel.
Thank you for listening to the end, much love <3

i don’t know why i am the way i am (there’s something in the static, i think i’ve been having revelations)
Rin has always been a believer. Both he and Yukio attended mass every Sunday at the monastery all their lives, grew up listening to Shiro and the other priests recite from the Bible—and this is the only book Rin knows almost by heart. The twins were baptized when they were younger, and despite his rebellious attitude, Rin has never wavered over that belief - whether that is because he was always surrounded by it or not - and it’s Yukio who’s gotten more skeptic about it as the years pass.
After Shiro dies, and Rin finds out he’s the son of Satan, Rin stops going to church. He doesn’t believe he’s welcomed at God’s house anymore, son of the original sinner that he is. He mourns the loss quietly, spending Sunday mornings in the quiet of his and Yukio’s abandoned dorm hoping he could be somewhere else.
(Alternatively, he could go to the chapel obsessively, turning his believes into a quest for absolution. Maybe if he behaves like a good Christian boy ought to do, if he follows the rules and proves Rin has not abandoned him, God will forgive him the sin of being born.)
Rin would want to have his confirmation—maybe he was in the middle of that process before Satan possessed Shiro. But now that holy instruments harm him, it’s like another sign that a demon isn’t welcomed, and that God has forsaken him. For that same reason, some of his favorite Bible verses harm him, and it’s through gritted teeth and clenched fists that he recites them in class and to himself, refusing to give them up because he’s turned tainted by his demon blood.
(When he first awakens, the night before the funeral, Rin takes a bottle full of holy water from the monastery’s reserves and tries dousing himself on them, thinking he might be able to cleanse himself of this curse with it. It burns, making his skin splotchy red and his eyes water from the pain. He’d always been able to touch it without issues before, but now it repels him. Rin falls to his knees in front of the altar, head bowed to the sculpture of Jesus crucified on the cross, and wonders for the first time if God has left him.)
(The burn fades within the hour, and Rin hates that most of all.)
Rin avoids mirrors the first few weeks after Shiro’s death, not wanting to see how he’s irrevocably changed. He hates the feeling of his longer canines when he runs his tongue over them, grimaces at the new, sharper shape of his ears, can’t barely take a look at his tail to stuff it under his shirt. He looks like he’s only just rolled out of bed, appearance shabby and unkept, but Rin prefers that to watching himself now that he’s no longer one of God’s creations.
He prays by his bedside every night - even more so now that he can’t go to mass, Rin has started praying obsessively since Shiro died - has his rosary around his neck even though it makes his skin itch and takes it everywhere he goes. He always blesses the table before eating, thanking God for the food he’s provided for them.
Every time he uses his flames, Rin feels like a sinner. This are the flames of Satan, the flames of the original sinner, God’s antithesis. Using them feels like forsaking God just like God has forsaken him, but Rin finds no joy in it. As the flames die out and Rin’s freaky demonic features recede, he bows his head and prays. “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned,” he says, trying and failing to feel better about himself.
His friends notice, after all secrets are out in the open and Rin doesn’t have to hide them anymore, and they look at him strangely for it, like his apology to God is out of the norm. Maybe they don’t think Rin would be religious, as the son of Satan. Maybe they just think it’s strange that he’s looking for absolution. They don’t comment on it until much later, when Bon tells him that he’s not a sinner just because he uses Satan’s flames. Bon is much smarter than Rin, so infinitely smarter, so Rin tries to believe him. He never stops praying though.
When he first realizes his feelings for Bon are less than platonic, his first instinct is to go to the confessionary and confess his sin. But the only priest he’s confessed to is Shiro, and Shiro is dead (Shiro is dead), and what priest would give absolution to a demon? So Rin doesn’t go, stewing on his guilt and thinking about it obsessively (“Forgive me father, for I have sinned. This is my first-tenth-hundredth-thousandth confession.” “Forgive me Father, for I want, and I do not know how to stop wanting.”). Is it because he’s the Son of Satan? Was he born a sinner, always meant to stray from God’s path like Satan did? How can he follow God’s will when he’s fallen in love with a boy?
Later, he realizes Shiro would have probably been fine with it, and if Shiro approves… maybe it’s not so wrong. Maybe Rin isn’t sinning when he looks at Bon feeling butterflies in his stomach, isn’t straying from God’s intended path when Bon’s laugh makes him happy. And if this is not a sin then maybe being a halfling isn’t either. Maybe it’s not God that has forsaken him, but the Catholic Church.
(The Vatican will never love him. They have casted him as the villain before he could even prove himself one of God’s believers, and they’ll never let him forget who his father is, and what he’s done. He’ll never be able to visit freely, to marvel at the beautiful structures and the holiness of it all. It hurts. But it hurts less than thinking he’s beyond saving, that God has given up on saving him.
The Vatican can suck it.)
Rin tries going to church again. It’s a daunting task, after days and weeks and months without stepping foot inside a chapel, but Rin finds himself sitting on the third row at the Sunday mass held near True Cross Academy, and feels the knot in his stomach loosen as he listens to the priest. It’s familiar. It’s liberating. Rin feels a little more like himself. Bon is waiting for him at the school gates when he’s done, looking immensely proud and Rin takes his hand in his and lets the feeling of contentment wash over him.
He still prays. He still blesses the table. He still recites verses of the Bible even if they hurt him, and he still refuses to go to a confessionary.
But he can stand to look at himself in the mirror now. He resumes his confirmation process, even knowing he may never be allowed the actual sacrament. He lets himself see a world where he can be the son of Satan and a good Christian, where he can love a boy who’s beautiful and good to him without disappointing God. It’s a different world than the one he lived in before, but Rin thinks it’s a world Shiro would be proud of.
It’s a start.
——————————
(This is my interpretation as I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic school all my life. I’m nowhere near as devoted as I’m making Rin here lol, but I grew up around Catholic religion and know people who are very hardcore Catholics, so this, as well as my own religious education, is where I draw my knowledge from.)
(Also, I want to clarify that a lot of Rin’s thoughts are in no way healthy, and he will grow to let go of them in time. This is the result of a very traumatic situation that left him stranded with no sense of direction, and some of his actions stem from a need to overcompensate for being half demon. He’ll get better as he learns to deal with that reality.)
Update: my brain won’t stop eating at me so this has turned into a thing (tm). Let’s call it revelations au because I think I’m funny. You can find all my posts about it through that tag in my profile.

Older Yukio meeting Current Yukio…
Me thinking about current yukio (after satan's hopeful demise) meeting a 15-20 years older anime version of himself, demonic features and flames and all, from an alternate timeline.
It kinda freaked current yukio out when he first saw his older self, thinking that everything the Illuminati and Order told him was somehow still wrong, and he would inherit the flames.
Older yukio is calmer, genuinely so, and has fantastic control and acceptance of his own flames. He quickly realizes the younger self before him will not befall the same fate as he did (times and dates don't match up), and is able to gently calm his younger self down.
Rin is fascinated but also appalled because 1. How the fuck did yukio get even taller?? and 2. Why the fuck was older yukio's tail longer than his??
It's revealed that one of older yukio's sons AND older rin's daughter had somehow made off with the kamikakushi key and toddled their way here, so he chased in a panic. Younger yukio was still wrapping his head around the fact that this other version of him was married while rin was trying to get older yukio to tell him who he married.
They do find older yukio's son, Kohaku, which is actually the younger twin to Shiro. Rin almost sobs at how he named him after their dad, but he actually starts bawling uncontrollably when he sees his older self's daughter, Yuri, named after their mother.
Without giving away too much even though their timelines don't affect each other, older yukio tells them that there's a lot to look forward to in the future. The worst is over, and moving forward will bring them peace.
ALTERNATIVELY
If this happened like, before yukio's mental break on dominus liminus, younger yukio would have freaked the fuck out and started mass panicking trying to kill himself harder because oh no no no I cannot possibly become a demon like nii-san oh no no-
Yeah no my baby needs peace… not… everything else.

Headcanons for @the_letter_horror_lover
Hi! Thank you for your request! Sorry it took so long. I hope you like the headcanons!
As mentioned before, your original request was a bit long so I've put this in a separate post and linked the original ask for anyone who wants to read it.
Want to read the original request? You can find it here!
Fandom: Blue Exorcist
Characters: Shiro Fujimoto, Rin Okumura, Yukio Okumura, Kuro, Ryuji Suguro, Konekomaru Miwa, Renzou Shima, Shiemi Moriyama, Izumo Kamiki, Mephisto Pheles, Shura Kirigakure x Yukihiro Okumura (OC: credit to the requester)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yukihiro Okumura, is the younger brother of Rin and Yukio. He’s level-headed and fun but trouble follows him wherever he goes. What do the characters think of him?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tumblr media
Shiro loved Yukihiro so much since he's like the perfect balance of Rin and Yukio when they were that age. He thought the youngest was by far the easiest to raise.
Despite that, he did worry about how much danger and trouble found its way to the young boy. He did what he could to protect him, but one person can only do so much.
Shiro thought Yukihiro's friends would be a good influence on him. They balance out his flaws and shortfallings and he balances out theirs, a good combination.
When Satan possessed him, Shiro felt a moment of sadness that he wouldn't get to see Yukihiro grow up. He knew his death would be tough on all three of the Okumura brothers and he hoped they would help each other get through the tough times that would follow.
Tumblr media
Rin loves Yukihiro deeply. Since he's the oldest, he has a strong sense of protection towards the young boy and will do whatever it takes to keep him safe.
As a result, he's almost constantly worried about Yukihiro since trouble and danger always seem to find him. But despite that, Rin is still steadfast in protecting his brother.
He likes Yukihiro's friends, despite giving them the "older brother talking to" about keeping him safe and never betraying him. He thinks they're good kids and enjoys seeing Yukihiro happy.
I think Rin likes having the same demonic features as Yukihiro. It makes him feel more connected to the boy despite the age difference.
Tumblr media
Just like Rin, Yukio feels deeply protective over Yukihiro, especially since he knows what it's like to have Satan possessing you.
He feels partially responsible for danger constantly finding Yukihiro since he was the first of the Okumura's to get into exorcism. As a result, he'll do his best to protect his younger brother.
Yukio thinks Yukihiro's friends are loyal and have the potential to be strong allies. But they are all still kids and he doesn't want them to be in any more danger than they have to be.
The months after Shiro's death were tough on all of them, not least because Yukio suddenly became the guardian of an eleven year old. He's doing his best to raise Yukihiro the way Shiro would have but he finds it difficult sometimes.
Tumblr media
Kuro loves having another person around who can hear him. It's great talking to Rin but some variety is always good.
While Rin reminds Kuro of a younger Shiro, Yukihiro is a lot more like the older Shiro. He's quieter and more patient than Rin and that makes Kuro feel at ease around the young boy.
As protective as Kuro is or Rin, he's even more protective of Yukihiro since the boy is so much younger and, in Kuro's eyes at least, less capable of defending himself.
And boy, does Kuro have his work cut out trying to protect Yukihiro from all of the danger that follows him. It's certainly a full time job for the cat-like demon.
Tumblr media
Okay, Bon's conflicted. He likes the kid but what's his deal? Why does Yukihiro hold such a grudge against him?
He thinks Yukihiro's a good kid who's got bad luck for being born the son of Satan. Bon admires his ability to control the blue flames and will often use that as a teasing point towards Rin.
Bon also thinks Yukihiro's friends are good kids. He's concerned about how young they are for getting into exorcism but as long as they do their best and stay out of harms way, he's fine with them showing a clear interest.
Despite Yukihiro's dislike for him, Bon will keep an eye on him from the shadows. He doesn't want anything bad to happen to him and will do his best to protect the youngest Okumura wherever he can.
Tumblr media
Konekomaru likes Yukihiro but does worry about the boy's ability to attract danger. They already have to deal with demons on a near daily basis with Rin around!
Regardless, Konekomaru will do his best to protect the youngest Okumura. He struggles with self confidence but having someone younger to be responsible for helps him focus on the present.
As weird as it sounds, Konekomaru kind of likes having more people around who wear glasses. There aren't many of his friends who do and Yukio is more of a teacher most of the time than a friend so it's nice.
Yukihiro and his friends remind Konekomaru of his childhood growing up with Bon and Shima. He hopes the young group will remain as close as they get older.
Tumblr media
Shima thinks it's hilarious that a kid has such a grudge against Bon. He  can't help but laugh when he sees Yukihiro glaring daggers at Bon, who can only stare back in confusion.
He enjoys being around Yukihiro. Rin can be a lot sometimes and Yukio is too stuffy so the youngest Okumura is a nice balance, despite the age difference.
At the same time, Shima can't handle the stress of being around Yukihiro for long. Danger is always going to find the kid and Shima finds the anticipation too much to bear.
Shima also likes Yukihiro's sarcasm. It might not come out all that often but he finds it hilarious some of the things this kid comes up with.
Tumblr media
Shiemi is honoured that Yukihiro feels comfortable enough with her than he comes to her when upset. It's a nice connection for both her and the young boy.
She worries about making connections with people after all the time she was isolated as a child but this helps ease her worries somewhat.
She likes Yukihiro's friends and hopes they find her as comforting a presence as Yukihiro does. She finds them easy to get along with since they're easier to understand than adults and teenagers.
Shiemi likes feeling useful and if that takes the form of some kids finding her a safe place, she'll be delighted. It means a lot to her.
Tumblr media
I see Izumo as someone who has a soft spot for animals and kids. She'll do her best to hide it but she thinks they're cute (in a non creepy way).
So she likes Yukihiro. She thinks he's a good kid with a promising future, especially since he's got good friends to support him.
Izumo does worry about how much danger seems to follow him around though. She doesn't want such a young life to be unnecessarily endangered.
She loves his sass, as long as it's not directed at her. She'll usually be trying to his a smile when he's talking back to someone who's deserved it.
Tumblr media
Mephisto has an interesting relationship with Yukihiro, both because of the age difference and their actual relationship.
Since the boy is technically his brother, he does feel some connection. But it's not a strong familial connection like there is between Yukihiro, Rin, and Yukio.
Mephisto is nothing if not an opportunist. He's going to factor Yukihiro into his plans and find ways of using the boy to his advantage.
At the same time, Mephisto won't let any real harm come to him. If Yukihiro got seriously injured or killed, that would be a major piece removed from the board and Mephisto certainly can't have that.
Tumblr media
Shura struggles to be around Yukihiro after Shiro's death. Sure, Rin's got the old man's fiery spirit and Yukio's got his level head but Yukihiro inherited both.
After a while though, she starts to spend more time with the young boy and finds herself surprised but how much she likes his presence.
She feels like she's helping raise a young Fujimoto and she'll be damned if Yukio raises a completely respectable boy.
Definitely the fun wine aunt to Yukihiro. Shura will make sure he gets to have fun while he's still a kid, despite everything he's got on his plate.

Blue Exorcist!!! (very fond of that!) 3, 5, 11, 17?
hi robin !!!! :]
3. quickly list 3 things you like about the story!
rin and yukio's dynamic; the theme of "demonic" entities being capable of love and compassion and "normal" beings loving and accepting those entities for everything they are, "demonic" features included; mephisto.
5. do you have a favorite character? who?
rin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everybody look at him how could u Not love this stupit idiot
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
11. if you were put in the main character's position, how well would that go for you on a scale of 1-5?
definitely a 1 i am not brave enough to battle demons.on the bright side i have a tail and fangs and cool ears and also a sword. such a shame i'll live w those things for like 2 days before i get killed by the goddamn vatican
17. compare this story to your usual tastes. how does it differ from what you've already enjoyed?
i originally watched blue exorcist back in like ? middle school or smth. somewhere around there, my memory is bad. anyway i think it's pretty in line w stuff i usually like, especially rin's Entire Character, but it Does involve a lot of religion and religious imagery that i don't usually watch. i know nothing of religion—i wasn't raised to believe in any particular one—so i simply don't rly seek it out. the vibes r fun tho

DUDE i fucking know right?? The new art for blue exorcist is so fucking awful WHY did they DO THAT??? Rin and Yukio look completely different. They even changed how their dorm looks for some fucking reason????? JUST LEAVE IT ALONE
Yeah! And one of the first things that happens when a show starts being animated is they make sure everyone can draw the characters on model. Which means that this change was deliberate!
And they severely toned down Rin’s inhuman features, like his eyes, teeth, fire, and ears. Like bro, what the fuck? He doesn’t need to be metaphorically declawed in order to be more relatable and likeable. If anything, the juxtaposition between his personality and status as a half demon was a main appeal.
Like every other character, the subversion from expectations set due to pre-established tropes makes him super interesting, but toning down his appearance lessens the effect quite a bit.
To be honest, I think everyone should just read the manga. It’s fantastic, it’s beautifully drawn, the creator takes her time to make sure it’s good instead of rushing herself, it’s really well thought out, and it’s so fun to read.
There isn’t a single anime or manga series that I have remained interested in other than the Blue Exorcist manga. I used to watch tons of anime and read tons of manga as a kid, but I don’t at all anymore. Except Blue Exorcist. I love it so much I have physical copies of every volume.
It’s so good and I need everyone to read it because so many people are just watching the anime and thinking that the story must just be wack and disappointing because of that.

Rin growing up in the Myoo Dharani
Rin's power grew far to fast for Kurikara and the seal to handle, leading to it cracking ever so slightly and releasing the tiniest bit of Rin's power. It's not enought for his flames or demonic features to show, but demons are more attracted to him and that he's ableto feel their presence (he's not able to see them, but he gets the feeling of someone being there when they are near him). Shiro fears the sword taking further damage and fully realising Rin's demons powers , not to mention that all the demons who are suddenly attracted to their monestary are drawing the attention of the Vatican on them.
After talks with Mephisto and Tatsuma, Shiro decides with a heavy heart that it would be best to send Rin away to live with the Myoo Dharani. It wouldn't be too weird to have them attract demons with everything that happened on the blue night, Rin would always be sorounded by exorcists and if there are any problems with the sword the chance is higher for them to know what to do than Shiro.
Rin is seven years old when he leaves for Kyoto. He believes that Shiro abandoned him and kept his brother since he's the "problem child". The fact that everyone around him is very secretive about the reason why he suddenly has to go doesn't help the situation at all.
Torako takes Rin under her wing after he arrived, he's not really involved in all the religious or exorcist bits but he helps out at the inn a lot. In the beginning everyone was a bit wary of him but they warm up sooner or later. He still get's into fights at school a lot, but that's because he starts going after the people who pick on Bon, Shima and Konekomaru. The Myoo Dharani know that Rin is a nephilim, but only Tatsuma knows he's a son of Satan.
Rin usually spends his time following around and helping out Torako, at some point everyone just sort of started to accept Rin as the unoffical heir of the inn. He has a great relationship with the Kyoto Trio and enjoys to cook for the whole organisation.
While outwardly very cheerfull and happy , deep down Rin has anger festering, at himself and at Shiro. He believes he was abandoned by the people he thought were family. When he left Yukio had promised to send letter and call him, but it nee´ver happened. None of Rin's letters were answered or calls recieved. Rin thinks it's because they view him as useless and are glad he's gone, in reality Yukio couldn't keep up contact with Rin to avoid drawing attention to them from the Vatican. Despite it all Rin rows up to be just as nice as in canon, he plans on taking over the inn from Torako and does his best to support Bon and the rest of the organization.
His plans come crashing down when he's 16 and his powers are finally too big to be handeled by the sword. A demon attacked Bon and Rin jumps to save him, using his flames to protect him. Lots of drama happens, the Myoo Dharani find out about Rin's father and everything blows over suprisingly well. At the beginning there are some weird times ofcourse but they all knew Rin since he was small and they reassure him that they still love him.
He does have to go to cram school to become an exorcist, though. Rin accompanies Bon, Shima and Konekomaru to do so. The twist here is that when he's back in Tokyo, Shiro and Yukio try to reach out to him again. They think that now Rin knows about his heritage and will become an exorcist it's safe enought again to talk to him again. The problem is that Rin has no interest at all to reconnect.
All Rin sees when looking at them is the family that abandoned him because ''he was too much trouble'' and now suddenly wanna talk again for god knows what reason. He's openly hostile. He refuses to call Yukio his brother or Shiro his father. He openly states that he has no family other than the Myoo Dharani and there's nothing anyone could do to change that.
The Kyoto Trio is also very hostile to both Yukio and Shiro. Shiro is their homeroom teacher in this and Yukio his assistant. The trio make an efford in avoiding them and keeping Rin away from Yukio and Shiro.

Skin and Bone, a yukishima drabble
I can't sleep; I need to take a break from what I started writing a few days ago, so a quick drabble may be a nice way to clear the mind. I'm still quite new to fanfiction writing, so I apologize in advance for any inconsistencies... 🙏
Skin and Bone
Shima clearly remembers when he noticed it for the first time; no way he can ever forget it.
Back then, he had seen his sensei without his usual exorcist coat on just once, when demons sprang up in the old boys' dorm, but he was focused more on teasing his young teacher than on appreciating his features. Besides, even if he managed to spot Yukio from between the crowd of his groupies in the school gardens during the lunch break once in a while, he had never noticed the boy taking his jacket off, even if the temperature outside was making Shima feel his brain could melt into a puddle of mud in any second.
However, Shima would lie if he admitted he paid any attention to Yukio's outfit choices these days; he had rather wondered if any exorcism technique could make him switch places with his teacher, who clearly had a hard time fighting his own embarrassment.
And then, the training camp happened.
Of course, it ended quite unexpectedly, and Shima still can recall the devastating pain of his broken ribs (he can swear he wasn't exaggerating!). Still, there's another memory he associates with this event, and that lives in his heart rent-free.
When the initial shock caused by seeing Yukio in his shirt only was slowly fading, Shima laid his eyes upon that beautifully exposed part of his teacher's body and automatically scolded himself for not noticing this extraordinary treasure earlier.
He felt like the world's best-kept secret had been revealed to him and him only, even if he wasn't the only witness of the scene that had just happened before him. Suddenly he found himself fighting the urge to shoo Bon and Koneko away, but at the same time, he wasn't able to move even a bit; he was too much focused on not letting the others know about his newly awoken admiration.
Because Yukio's forearms were an embodiment of sin.
Unable to take his eyes off the outlined shape of his elbow, off those pale, flawless seas of skin, marred only by barely noticeable scars and few moles (he absolutely expected them to be there), Shima had a feeling that he wouldn't hesitate to sell his soul to be allowed to put a single touch on them. The position Yukio stood in emphasized the wonderfully toned muscles, and Shima's fingertips itched to trace and memorize every inch of them.
But then Yukio moved, ready to resume the preparations for setting the camp up.
Shima remembers it was also the first time he had difficulty switching to his regular flirty persona and pretending that nothing happened for the rest of the evening. Then a series of unfortunate events occurred (including the disgusting feeling of chuuchi on his own skin), but the first impression was strong enough to imprint the image of Yukio's forearms on Shima's mind.
These days, even if months had passed, Shima still clearly remembered himself staring in awe at their young teacher. He was eternally grateful for every time he had a chance to peek again at Yukio's exposed skin; in the hospital, when he was telling them about twins' roots, after the battle with the Impure King (twice!), during the preparations for their cross-dressing shenanigans while investigating the Seven Mysteries of True Cross Academy, and finally, on Dominus Liminis, when Shima couldn't believe his own luck that Yukio let him see his fully recovered arm (at that moment his perfectly mastered deceiving skills had failed him mercilessly; he found pretending genuine disgust when nearly having a heart attack one of the toughest experiences in his life).
There's one thing that Shima has to admit in this case - he didn't even notice when the simply animalistic urge to touch that particular part of Yukio's body turned into the yearning for being allowed to touch not only his skin but also the deepest parts of Yukio's soul. He isn't exactly sure, but it could be the moment when he noticed Yukio sitting on the ground, still a little bit dizzy after the aftermath of Satan's rampage, yet safe and sound. Or maybe even before these events, when the Exwires and their teacher had a meal together for the first time since he couldn't even remember when?
But today, it just doesn't matter, not when he feels the soft purrs of Yukio's breath on his own neck and when the body of a half-asleep dragoon is wrapped around him, and he has free access to a bit more scarred skin of his forearm because it lies on Shima's chest (Shima is exceptionally proud of himself that he once again succeeded in dragging Yukio into the bed once they returned from a tough mission). Once he starts tracing idle patterns, already knowing by heart the place of every single scar there, Yukio murmurs his usual "don't," but Shima (also as usual) ignores him and keeps caressing his favorite spots.
There's no way Shima will ever forget the first impression Yukio's forearms had on him because he relives this experience with every single touch, again and again. The only difference is that Yukio's now fully aware of his fascination, and Shima can't help feeling that even if Yukio keeps denying him the right of forearm worship, moments like this prove that deep down, he thinks otherwise.

Have you ever wrote something with protective big brother Mephisto? I never see enough! I definitely feel like he'd spoil and shower Rin in love and affection after he comes in his care, especially if Yukio is being an ass
Plus Rin is a prince.. and he has never got treated like one, I feel like Mephisto would try to make up for lost time. (Also Mephisto going damn near feral on Angel for stabbing Rin would be just amazing)
I am not good at writing Mephisto, but thankfully one of my fellow writers on the writer server @thebeingofeverything) stepped in with some recs for Mephy&Rin interactions (the descriptions are tboe's)
Cinder Cough, sfw, no TW, Amai/Rin ship. Deals with Rin reaching his sweet (demon) 16 and Mephisto throwing a ball for him as is tradition. Features great depiction of the many issues between Rin and Yukio and an increasingly more manic Mephisto trying to throw the perfect Debutante affair for Rin as Gehenna's prince deserves. https://archiveofourown.org/works/26568415
Discovering Oneself is a mentor!Mephisto & Rin fic, no ship or tw. It kills me there's only 1 ch for it bc it explores some great stuff about Mephisto being one of the few demons in the position to help Rin learn about what it means to be a demon while keeping them both in character. https://archiveofourown.org/works/20954579
Letterverse by @yukiokumura and @29rynoah also has a lot of great Mephisto and Rin moments if that's something you enjoy. Ship is BonRin, Mephisto/Shirou, Yukio/Renzou and the triggers are tagged :) https://archiveofourown.org/series/67566

Ngl I think Blue Exorcist is like the first Series I've read where they actually acknowledge/ do something with the fact that BOTH Yukio and Rin are the children of satan.
Like so often when you have like siblings and one inherits like idk the power/ something off the other. It weirdly gets treated as One being the "child of X' or saying they're "half X" and just sorta ignores the fact that the other sibling still technically by all accounts is also a child of that parent as well making them also technically a 'half x'- even is say they didn't inherit an innate ability or certain features or whatever.
Sure Yukio may not have inherited Satans Blue Flame and Rin seems to have acquired more of the demonic traits / side of things. But like Yukio is still a child of satan- and I'd argue that still technically makes him half demon powers or not-
It just took a bit longer for Yukio's abilities to appear.
--
At bare minimum they at least think to have the characters bring up and question Yukio early on, that uh 'Hey you know you're also Satan's kid to.."

A crossover of the characters of Blue Exorcist in the Disney's Descendants world!
Instead of "Auradon" and "Isle of the Lost" it's "Assiah" and "Gehenna"
Rin and Yukio were separated at a young age when it was discovered Yukio didn't have any demon features
Yukio was raised in Assiah with the rest of the Exorcist class, the Vatican and generally all the humans
Father Fujimoto is like the King and Yukio is the Prince
Rin was raised in Gehenna with all the other demons
He was raised by Mephistio and is also close with Amaimon
Yukio gets the opportunity to run a program, where Gehenna kids get the opportunity to attend Assiah prep
Demons are seen as unpredictable, so Amaimon and Rin are the trial run for the Gehenna kids going
Yukio and Rin don't really remember each other, but once Rin arrives they quickly discover they're actually twins
Yukio tried really hard to make Rin fit in, but there's a lot of social and cultural boundaries which make understanding each other difficult
Rin uses this "Assiah royalty" status at first to gain things he wants like a big bedroom and a kitchen where he can experiment, as well as to get away with things
Rin along the way also develops feelings for a certain AK, Ryuji "Bon" Suguro
Also a bit of a side plot, Shiemi and Yukio are together, but then she catches (unrequited) feelings for Rin and things get complicated
Can't decide if Yukio breaks up with Shiemi and dates Shima or not yet

Blue Exorcist Incorrect Quotes
NOTES: This features my oc btw. Enjoy!
{~~~}
Ash, with her phone recording a video with a bunch of red flags in her hand: “every time my husband does something to piss me off, he gets a red flag.”
Ash, in their bathroom, slamming a red flag on the multiple puddles of water: “Rin left water all around the sink. Like, look at this shit. Red flag!”
Ash, in their bedroom, zooming in on the pile of dirty clothes on the floor while throwing a red flag on top: “he didn’t put his dirty clothes in the hamper. It’s not that hard, man. Red flag!”
Ash, zooming in on the trash can and putting another red flag in the overflowing trash can: “what the hell. This bitch is overflowing! Bruh. Really? Red. Fucking. Flag.”
Ash, on the couch, cuddling Shiemi while throwing three red flags at Rin, who is sitting on the couch sleeping: “look at this. Absolutely preposterous. Rin should be right here with bae and I cuddling us. Red flags.”
Ash, pouring an entire bucket of red flags on top of Rin while he’s sitting at the kitchen counter on his computer, with Shiemi making lunch: “Neither Shiemi nor I are pregnant yet? Big big red flag. Huge red flag.”
{~~~}
Rin, to Shiemi: “Ash is mad at me, so to make sure they come to me after our argument, I’m going to tighten all of the bottles and jars in the fridge.”
Shiemi, laughing: “is that really gonna work? You know how stubborn she is.”
Rin: “trust me, it’ll work.”
Rin: *tightens all of the jars and bottles in the fridge and waits a little bit*
Ash, storms out of the room with her headphones in: *going to get her spicy pickles and sweet tea from the fridge and struggles to open both items*
Rin and Shiemi: *giggling and smiling at Ashley failing to get the lids off.*
Ash, cussing to herself: “what the fuck…”
Ash, sighing and giving into her boyfriend’s antics: *walks over and holds out her jar of spicy pickles and her bottle of sweet tea*
Ash, blushing as Rin handed her stuff back: “I’m still pissed at you, stupid…”
Rin and Shiemi: *laughing as Ash stormed off to her room*
{~~~}
Mephisto: “now, kids, what would you like for Christmas?”
Miwa: “the confidence to protect my friends.”
Rin: “my old life back.”
Ash: “my sister back.”
Shima: “a purpose to my existence.”
Bon: “the truth.”
Yukio: “the eradication of all demons.”
Shiemi: “a 20-pack of chicken nuggets.”
Alex: “…”
Alex: “everyone except for Shiemi, are you all okay?”
{~~~}
Ash: “Alex has no idea I’m high.”
Alex: “you’re high?”
Ash: “oh, I'm sorry.”
Ash, leaning over to Shura: “Alex has no idea I’m high.”
{~~~}
Shiemi: “what’s the hardest thing to say?”
Bon: “I was wrong.”
Ash: “I need help.”
Yukio: “I’m sorry.”
Rin: “Worcestershire sauce.”
{~~~}
Shima: “I bet you haven’t done a single good deed today.”
Ash: “I did. I prevented a murder from occurring.”
Shima: “how?”
Ash: “self-control.”
{~~~}
Alex, to Rin and Shiemi: “so what’s it like dating Ash?”
Rin: “once I asked them for a glass of water while they were pissed off at me.”
Shiemi: “they brought him a glass of ice and said ‘wait’.”
Rin: “I love them.”
{~~~}
Rin: “people say I have a unique way of lighting up a room.”
Ash: “it’s called arson and those people are witnesses.”
{~~~}
<Ash, Rin, and Shiemi are in a dangerous situation.>
Ash: “I have a plan!”
Shiemi: “no sacrificing yourself!”
Ash: “…”
Ash: “I no longer have a plan.”
{~~~}
<Rin, Ash, and Shiemi in a nutshell.>
Shiemi: “oh my god! I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry—”
Rin: “well, ding dong ping pong looks like I’m gonna fucking die.”
Ash: “well fuck me gently with a chainsaw.”
{~~~}
Ash: “I’m absolutely at a loss for words!”
Rin, narrating: “despite her being at a loss for words, she continued to yell at me for the next 45 minutes.”
{~~~}
Ash, reading a letter from home, with absolutely zero emotions: “I’m going to kill my mother.”
Shiemi, wildly concerned: “you’re going to what?!”
Rin, barely awake, head laid on the table: “matricide…? On a Wednesday? Must be serious.”
{~~~}
Yukio: “there’s 10 children at this party, but there are only seven chairs. What do you do?”
Ash: “make the least important ones stand.”
Rin: “have everyone sit on the floor.”
Alex: “bring three more chairs.”
Amaimon: “kill three.”
{~~~}
The Exwires: “how are you not TERRIFIED right now?!”
Ash: “compared to the family get-togethers I am forced to attend twice a year, this is actually quite tame.”

Social rules and etiquette always eluded the demon; coming to a big city like New York was perhaps the last thing the exorcist in training should have done. The buildings here were less intriguing than he had found Kyoto Tower to be. He was drawn out of his thoughts as he felt someone else bump into him; he had been pushed around one too many times today. A scowl soon found a home on his features as he turned around. ❝ What the hell, man? Can't you see I'm standing here?! ❞ He inquired bitterly, despite having been the one standing there staring up at the skyline. Ever the hot head, he found no fault within himself. He had come a long way since walking around with his tail visible and had gotten the perfect lie to explain away his ears and teeth. He was only here on some stupid exchange that Mephisto had set up despite his protests. ❝ Try that again, and you'll be wearing that coffee of yours. ❞ He hadn't even been in the city for a full day and was already about to start fights with the locals.
❝ Geez, everybody in this city has no damn manners. What the hell are you all in a rush for? ❞ He demanded, certainly calling the kettle black. He had the mind to start a fight, hoping it would send him back home. Studying abroad would not help him get to the point in which he could beat the shit out of Satan. Here he had to be even more careful about his true nature and what he did, begrudgingly following the guidelines placed upon him. The only good thing about being halfway across the world was that Shura and Yukio were nowhere to be found. ❝ What the hell's got you so preoccupied you can't see that I am standing here, huh? ❞ He asked, once more neglecting that the entire ordeal was his fault — standing in the way on a busy New York street with little regard to the social norms and rules of the city he was in.
Tumblr media
Arms soon folded over his chest, eyes narrowed angrily. Finding his way around the city would be problematic, and part of his annoyance came from the fact that he was lost, far too proud, and too stubborn to ask anyone for directions. ❝ Why don't I just start shovin' all of you around and see how you like it! ❞ He decided, lashing out at the new world he felt trapped in. His entire life had been spent learning that his immense strength and letting his emotions run rampant were wrong and that he needed to learn to control himself for the sake of those around him, but Shiro had taught him to embrace everything that he was and that the burdens he carried were not something he had to do alone. Despite that, he felt alone here, like he had been shipped off to another country, all for the sake and comfort of those around him who rejected him.
❝ Dammit. Could you tell me how to get to this dumbass school? ❞ He inquired, finally giving in and asking for directions.
