I think one of the most depressing aspects of providing art for someone is knowing deep down it's going to be replaced
I just made this banner for my friend on YouTube, you can check him out here.
This is in no way meant as a hit to him. He's just getting started and wanted a banner for his YouTube channel. This isn't something i recommend for budding artists, but i did this for free, since he's my friend and - while no other artist should think like that, I'm working on it - i don't think I'm there yet with my art.
I can already see him growing pretty big. His first video is rough, but it's clear he loves what he's talking about. I see his subscriber base growing, meeting new people, and networking all before he's ever filled out a job application. I see him meeting more talented folks than i am.
I got lucky here, in my honest opinion, to be able to provide art for somebody for free, in an attempt to get my name out there and to make someone happy. And yet it hurts still to know one day it'll rightfully be replaced, if i'm not there yet with my art.
The post doesn't necessarily have a point, i more just wanted to talk. All the things in my life that have culminated to this very point - i have to believe it's all for something bigger than me.
