The Sewing/Home Economics Club!
Hazu is the president and only active member of the club, whereas the majority are all ghost members. Ghost members are those who joined a club in name only and there to fill in numbers. They'll typically join club activities every once in a while to secure their spot. Ayano joins the club during the Drama Club's play productions begin.
The club was disbanded years before and was only recently revived, leaving Hazu as the de-facto president since the previous one wanted to focus on entrance exams. Because of this, Toga Tabara was able to join, but as a ghost member.
Below is Galatea Acts spoilers/dynamics:
Ayano joins the sewing club due to being to the rule that students must join a club or face disciplinary action. She was invited to join the Drama Club alongside Kenchou after he auditioned for a role in their murder mystery dinner theater production, but she declined. Since he insists they go home together after club activities, Ayano is forced to find a way to kill time and remembers the rule of joining a club. Not wanting a lot of noise or attention, she walks around to find one that fit the requirements.
Despite the Gaming/Subculture Club insisting she's a member, she isn't officially on the list, and then finds the Sewing/Home Economics Club... kinda. The room is quiet aside from the sole sewing machine at work, and she encounters Hazu Kashibuchi. After a messy first introduction, he allows her to stay here so long as she doesn't bother him. She agrees and sits in the club room for the next few days before asking to join.
Kenchou eventually finds out about her joining and tells her that she should hurry and get other members or else it'll disbanded. So Ayano, having befriended Ousa Nakashima and Raimu Fumetsu prior to this, invites the two to join as they have yet to join a club. When Hanako Yamada transfers in, Ousa gets her to sign up as well. Seeing his classmate, Raimu, coming from the sewing club room, Toga Tabara, checks the club and is immediately recruited as a ghost member.
(best to worst) Skill / Interest level:
Hazu is incredibly skilled with sewing. He's made more than half the dolls and designed apparel, some can be seen hanging on the wall. Unfortunately, he's horrible with speaking so during club president meetings, not only is he the youngest, he's also the most soft spoken, so the budget isn't as fairly divided towards the sewing club.
Ayano is automatically the vice president. She knows how to sew and mend, but isn't motivated in starting any new projects. She prefers doing the inventory check and looking over others' works. However, if you provide her a pattern or blueprint, she can easily replicate it.
Raimu learned how to do embroidery and tailoring when she was young due to her strict family upbringing. It was meant to be early bridal training. She has her own sewing machine and feels more comfortable using it so she brought it to the club. She's the muscle of the club so she and Ayano do a lot of the shopping.
Ousa is fairly new to the idea of sewing, but enjoyed it so much that she started practicing at home. She likes making accessories more than clothes. Her favorite things to make are key chains and bracelets, making a new matching pair for Raimu.
Toga doesn't have much interest but he can do the basics. Due to his status as a ghost member, he doesn't know where all of the materials are and opts to help organize or clean rather than partake in club activities. He's pushed to be more involved by the others, especially Hanako.
Hanako has little to no interest, but her competitive nature pushes her to learn how to improve. She refuses to be seen as the worst, yet her impatience is her downfall so she gets frustrated too easily. Her ideas get too big for her current skill level so there's a box dedicated to her attempts.

So! Raibaru was the winner for redesign! As you can tell, it was nothing extreme as I'm fine with her original design.
There are key differences like having muted hair and eye colors to better distinguish between her and Osana (who is called Ousa in the galatea au) and giving more volume to her pigtails to contrast her out of school self. I also changed her from a second year to a third year so she and Ousa met only a year ago.
Meet Raimu Fumetsu, a third year in AkaDemi and former president of the Martial Arts Club. A strong young woman whose accolades are unmatched in the club's near 40 year history. She's the top fighter in her district and is a name that brings about fear and respect. Due to her reputation, it was tough making friends.
She had her classmates, sure, and her clubmates were all very lovely to her. But that made her feel like she was further away from her peers. She didn't want to be placed on a pedestal; she wanted to be seen as someone's equal. So when Bushiaki Masuta (Budo Masuda/Masuyama) defeated her, breaking her record, she felt free. In control of her place in people's eyes. And with that burst of freedom, she sought to befriend the first person she crossed paths with - Ousa Nakajima (Osana Najimi). They became close almost immediately and it was Ousa who suggested they wear matching twin tails.
Although she found freedom at school, that didn't mean she had the same at home. Her parents were disappointed that she lost to her own student and pushed her to train more, dedicating more time to the dojo. Because of this, she refused to let Ousa know about her home life, thankful that Ousa never pried further. No one at school actually knows about the strict upbringing, something she fights to keep under wraps, but ever since Ayano transferred, those wraps have loosened...

I think I'll stick with the black and white variants of the yansim uniform? So there will be six uniform sets (it's a prestigious school and in a romanticized school setting, so I'm handwaving realism in favor of entertainment) and three colors dictating the years.
White - 1st Year
Blue - 2nd Year
Red - 3rd Year
Student Council will have red/white uniforms regardless of year.
Each year has two sets of uniform - Summer and Winter. Some variations of the uniform are allowed as creativity is encouraged, not dismissed. Thinking outside the box is highly desirable, so things like accessories and hair colors/styles are permitted. It is in the current year of 202X that the artsy side is in full swing, overtaking the academic and sports achievements of prior years.
Because the arts are winning achievements left and right, their budget has grown immensely, and therefore, the funds have been allocated to encouraging/supporting artistic minds. This is why so many students have bright hair colors, contrasting prior years where they were muted and uniformed.
#ys galatea au#yandere simulator#fuwa rambles#idc much for the uniform discourse#it's an american game based in a japanese setting#tfw you want with realism?#it's a dating sim. girls like the mc like he's the gd best person ever#if you want accurate depiction of school uniforms play a japanese game lol#sorry for the rant im just so tired of the discourse

It's been a while since I posted anything! So sorry but I've been in a bit of creative funk and had to scrap a lot of the chapter I was working on so... I'm gonna post it here!
--
Context: Ayano is being discharged from the hospital after fainting due to stress. Her father is worried for her and she thinks back on a very specific memory of appeasing him as a child.
--
It took several more tests and evaluations before Ayano was finally released from the hospital. Her mother was, once again, roped into another meeting with Director Mukai and assured her family that they could leave without her.
The three idle outside the entrance of the hospital, her father carrying a bag of clothes in one hand and a paperbag full of books and other miscellaneous trinkets Ayano was gifted. Mukai Kinu was bashfully obvious with trying to win over the girl's affections,
She laughed off the concerns of the two, and gently patted them on the shoulders, affirming her initial offer,
"Now, now," she cooed, affection sparkling in her eyes. A wide grin blossomed on her lips, reaching her eyes with sheer delight. "I know today is our first day altogether out of the hospital, but duty calls! I'll have Mukai-kun drive me home and pay for some prime wagyu beef, doesn't that sound nice?"
Ayano isn't slow, she knows what her mother looks for with how she stares back, batting her lashes in am attempt to garner a favorable response. Her father is quick, a natural charmer when it came to Ryoba, and he utters a pathetic excuse of being concerned that maybe they should all take a night to relax. It's been so long, hasn't it? They've rarely had a chance to sit at the table and negotiate who gets to finish what side dish.
Ayano follows up, picking up the cue from her father's trailing pleas. She forces a heavy pout, eyes downcast, and as soon as she feels her mother's loving attention on her, she crosses her arms and turns away. Most parents would reprimand such insolence but Ryoba was an anomaly. She had no standard criteria. No control group to be compared to. Nothing. She was a being of whims and wants with no manual someone can pick up and read.
An adolescent of a parent with an ounce of normality would get scolded. But this was not that type of setting. Instead, Ryoba giggles, validating the poor acting, and gently kisses her daughter's temple. She's a woman who is not easily swayed and faulted to being amused than endeared.
"I wish you could act spoiled like this before you start high school," she sighs and her husband relents a nervous chuckle. "Maybe I'll also drop by Wakuri Bakery and pick up some cream puffs? I know my dearest Ayano's are the best but for now, you need to get reacquainted with our home after being away so long!"
She repeated her consolation until a man in a black suit arrived and cleared his throat. He was an older gentleman, clean shaven, with black hair swept over a pair of shades. His shoulders were broad and the way he stood made him appear bigger than he actually was for his average height. "Aishi-san," he calls, tapping on his wrist. A flash of light reflected on his watch, showing off a hint of his wage.
"Hmph!" Ryoba whines but laughs it off when the man refrains from flinching. "Oh you young blood," she chides and waves to her family. "Don't worry, my loves, just make sure not to eat too late!"
The two leave, approaching a loitering vehicle with the suit opening the passenger's door, waiting for Ryoba to slide in. She turns one last time and blows affectionate kisses to her husband and daughter and, finally, seats herself in the car. Visibly, the man's shoulders slack, and he hurries to the driver's seat. A few more seconds pass and the engine murmurs before the vehicle departs.
Ayano hears her father breathe out in an ironic mix of distress and relief. "How are you feeling, sweetie?" His tone is unsteady as his eyes are tracking the tail end of the car circling through the parking lot and entering the high way. "Mukai-sensei said everything was fine, great even, and praised how healthy you are... But, uh, how was your appetite? Was it okay? Did you eat enough?"
Her father danced around the worries of her well-being often. Meanwhile, Ryoba batted away such issues like they were someone else's problem or something absurd like the Aishi family's genes were above such trivial things like fevers. They both exercised caution of Ayano's health, leaving it to regular evaluations in school. There was never anything wrong outside of the mild concern that Ayano, as a growing child, didn't eat much compared to other children.
It wasn’t urgent nor something to worry about, but it left a gnawing feeling in his stomach. A worry that he once brought up when it was just him and a seven-year-old Ayano. They sat across each other at a quiet family restaurant. Laminated menus placed before them, wiped clean from previous diners, colorful to entice their childish patrons, and used silly names to further entrance curious eyes.
Sundae specials like 'A Berry Banana Bonanza' for a banana split chock-full of strawberries and raspberries; 'Choco-Mint Mayhem' where the sea green of mint was sprinkled with chocolate chunks and decorated with sticks of Pocky; and 'My Neopolitean Regime' is a strange name for a childish delight, what with its dedicated embodiment of its three flavors and candies that resided inside. It's supposed to be a statement, Ayano once thought, possibly one that denied dentists everywhere a smooth appointment.
Her father's eyes shone briefly after she rose her head, asking with eagerness if she wanted ice cream. She knows she needs to act spoiled, yanking at her father's shaky hands, and sobbing crocodile tears with a thousand pleases falling from her tongue. She knows he wants that, to witness an ounce of a normal child across him. She knows he is struggling, desperation the only thing he can feel when around his family.
She knows and yet, she can't act like what he wants. All she can do is pick up a mask that she made specifically for him and wear it while reciting a script. As the playwright, the producer, the actress, she performs and does it well.
"Daddy," she meekly began, batting her eyes like she's seen Midori do a thousand times. "Can I get the Neopolitean one?" She tapped her finger against the disgustingly bright photo of said dessert.
A smile escaped him and the crows feet around his eyes crinkle. "You can, but then you'll be too full for dinner," he gently reprimanded, relief flooding from his voice. His muscles loosen, as if something inside him unwound. "Can you promise me that you'll have room for some yummy dinner?"
Like he could breathe.
She figured this was enough for him to feel like this could be normal. So she nods, stubborn with cheeks puffed and brows furrowed, similar to Kuu who debated with her parents often. She'd fight for adding 'just one more book!' to the cart as they wandered from aisle to aisle in a bookstore. Funny faces seeped onto Kuu's parents' faces as though they were doing their best not to laugh, and were easily swayed by the soured look of their child. 'Okay,' they'd say with a shake of their head, 'just one more.'
So, as always, Ayano feeds off her companions' lives and processes it as artificially as possible.
"I promise!"
And that memory drifts into nothingness. Her stomach was too small to handle such a behemoth of a sundae and they wound up boxing it, brought it home, and had it as dessert for dinner. She recalled having stomach cramps but managed to hide it and finish dinner her mother crooned on about loving to make. Ayano excused herself to take a bath first and relished in the hot water for as long as she could.
Why would anyone want to eat more than one scoop of ice cream? Impossible. She felt her teeth decay at the thought of attempting it a second time.
And so, the feeling drifts again.
"Mukai-sensei made sure I've eaten everything on my plate," she assured, feigning bashfulness. "I might gain weight because of it..." Gingerly her hands pat at her nearly nonexistent flab. She always worked out, not even thinking about it, scultped by her mother's designed lifestyle. Her posture was always upright, she did light cardio, she put her all into physical education, and was on constant alert. If anything, the pink-haired nurse commented how Ayano had a surprising amount of muscle for someone who wasn't part of an athletic club.
"It's almost as if you're training to join a sports meet!"
It was a kind observation. Something someone innocent, ignorant, of the world would assume. Or someone normal.
Her father cracked a smile, crows feet prominent.

I'm mulling over my galatea au and thinking if i should do a video series, summarizing the events so that it can at least be completed somewhere and not in hiatus limbo on ao3 🫠
I have a tentative rival list that corresponds with the canon one. And since this is fanfiction, I can play more freely with the characters and setting and somehow ended up with ships I never considered so yeah. Maybe I'll do that? I dunno lol I'm so deep in this rut that I fear I'll abandon it all 🫥

Does Megami strike anyone as more of a kendo or archery practicioner? She probably does both but which one suits her more?
She definitely trained in martial arts like judo, brazilian jiu-jitsu, maybe muay thai? Wing chun (kung fu) since she seems like the type to not want to prolong a fight.
Megami feels like she'd rather use hand to hand combat when it boils down to it but I'm wondering if she'd ever utilize a weapon? Not even a strong student like her could withstand the blunt force of a tub of dumbbells or a metal bat when swung with no hesitance.
Btw for others who are strong fighters -
Aoi would practice mixed martial arts but has a focus of judo and wrestling.
Osoro does mixed martial arts but is focused ln krav maga.
Budo is well versed in most but he would follow Jeet Kune Do (Way of the Intercepting Fist) as it is an ever evolving art and aikido that focuses on defense. His previous focus was on karate until Raiburu took him under her wing.
Raibaru, on the other hand, also does a variety of martial arts and learned to pull and complement different techniques. She focuses on Capoeira and the more offensive, hapkido and taekwondo.

For the gaming club, does anyone have any hcs about what genre each member excels at?
I like to think Gema is a jack of all trades but he's really good at mmos and deck building games.
Midori likes jrpgs a bunch but will dabble in some gachas. Only some bc her parents don't want her using her allowance on mobages.
Mai is DEFINITELY the gacha player and simulation/visual novel games but she has a hidden skill in stealth ones.
Ryuto and Pipi like rhythm games but Ryuto likes ones where you have to use taiko drums while Pipi likes ones where you need to move your arms.
Ryuto might play more old style fighting arcade games? Think street fighter or guilty gear. Or some beat em up/hack and slash!
Pipi maybe puzzle and logic games? I like to think she enjoys racing games from time to time.

Midori would ask the science club members on their thoughts on if mechas could be used to go into space with a human pilot and how strong a magical girl's transformation could potentially be as an energy resource. The latter interested Kaga and he was forced to watch the Magical Girl Miyuki series

I feel like i need to make an faq/about page for this side blog but just to reiterate -
Anything i post about the yansim characters are purely based on headcanons for this long running fanfic i have on ao3. Tumblr is just a really fun place to write out my ideas.
A Lot of the headcanons i make were in development prior to a lot of the now canon information (names, ages, 1980s history, side characters' backstories, etc) so if you see something i wrote that contradicts canon, this is why.
I believe the fanfic series I was working on began back in 2018? Somewhere around that or even earlier and before we got official info for minor characters.
The Ayano/Kencho dynamics are for my heavily divergent fanfic series. I hc'd kencho to be a year younger and that they both met during his second year of junior high / ayano's last year of junior high which makes them closer in age. I saw his initial art work and assumed he was close in age with megami which is why i thought would be a good concept. If he was born just a little earlier then maybe he'd get all the attention.
This is really due to the ages part. I followed the game development for years and there was no established age aside from the vague "everyone is around 18" bc it wasn't super important. I already had hcs for the first batch of named characters (aka kokona and saki) so i've stuck with them.
There'll be a lot of inconsistent info that my headcanons have when compared with the official canon bc i had the story planned based on older builds.
No idea if this was necessary but i figured i may as well have this written down. You can follow the link to my ao3 fic series to see what i mean with my thought process and hc posts.

Muja Kina/ Mukai Kinu is a little more responsible and self aware, but still has naivete about social situations. As the youngest child of a family of doctors, with her father being the director of a hospital sponsored by the Saikou family, there was a lot of expectations on her shoulders. Despite knowing she wasn't going to inherit the hospital, she studied as much as she could and continued her studies abroad in America.
She comes back before Ayano's first year of high school, and took care of Saisho Saikou in intervals along side her father. It wasn't often she met with the patriarch, but when she did, he was often polite to her. Very rarely did she meet with Megami, as the young heiress visited maybe once a week.
During those occasional consultation meetings with Saisho Saikou, she'd cross paths with a Ryoba Aishi. Typically on those days, her father would tell her to take care of his patients as he dealt with Ryoba, often clearing out his time table for the woman. She was curious and tried asking but Ryoba merely smiled, laughed, and told her that it had to do with the Saikou company. Apparently, Kinu is told, the two were colleagues before her father was offered the hospital's director position and used to work with Saisho. How much of this is true, she doesn't know.
But whenever Kinu met with Ryoba, the older woman was very kind and supportive, saying that it might be best if Kinu were the next director. It wasn't something Kinu expected! They didn't even know each other but after Ryoba mentioned it, it seems like Saisho caught wind and grumbled something of agreement.
From then on, Kinu was very amicable towards Ryoba and wondered why her father was so exhausted.
Tl;dr: Muja Kina/Mukai Kinu is a respectable nurse, hoping to work in a Saikou sponsored hospital, and has a sort of admiration/gratefulness towards Ryoba's surprising judgement of her standing.
Maybe when a substitute nurse is needed, a certain black haired girl might be placed under a watchful eye?

Kinu knows Ryoba, not personally, but through her father, the director of a hospital sponsored by the Saikou family. She respects Ryoba and finds her to be a very admirable person since her father is a very difficult man to get along with, and it seems like the two have worked together for the Saikou family. She's not sure what exactly, but if Ryoba is able to withstand her father's critical attitude, then she's someone she aspires to be like! Unfortunately.
Ran, on the other hand, seems to hold disdain for the Saikou family... kinda weird since she's applied to be a substitute teacher at AkaDemi. Also pretty weird how her reputation shouldn't have gotten her the job. Maybe someone on the inside gave her a helping hand?
