watching rowan ellis's video abt omegaverse makes me want to kill youtube and its censoring rules. this is a perfectly fine educational video but it mentions sexual things so she has to bleep out words, misspell captions, and omit article names or talk around certain topics and that's honestly lowkey (or highkey) fucked up
i don't understand why youtube just doesn't have different rules for videos with adult topics, honestly kind of like the tumblr community labels, where certain advertisers can focus on as well (like ads for alcoholic drinks. all the yaoi app ads I've seen ppl post abt. sex shop sites. stuff like that yknow??) like basically make it like the opposite of youtube kids, and people can choose in the settings whether or not they want to be recommended videos from that section of youtube on their feed or search results
no straight up porn, but like. educational videos such as this one that talk about sexual topics. sex toy reviews or guides. trans healthcare resources that talk about genitals. these are things that SHOULD be easy to find and that the people making them SHOULD be able to receive money for even if their channel isn't big enough to get sponsorship deals yet, and people should be able to read accurate captions for these videos (or at least uncensored captions in the automatically generated ones. on god i hate google for replacing swear words with underlines) i don't understand why this is such a difficult concept to grasp

Possibly a controversial opinion but Ads being unavoidable by unskippable ads at the start of videos or taking up 3/4ths of a page of an news article you're trying to read is abhorrent and fucking sucks but I will never give shit to some small youtuber/streamer using up a minute of time to talk about a sponser that will pay them a whole whopping ✨$50 usd✨so they can have gas money this month
No Idgaf about the thing being advertised and its annoying as fuck to have shit constantly shoved in your face all the time 'buy this' 'buy that' 'consume this' 'buy right now big sale give us your money' 'consume capitalism catastrophe'
but I'd rather some creator get the advertisement money to help pay the bills rather than the sponser company spending that money for slots on a news website thus just giving that money to another big company and having loud ass ad videos play audio in the corner of a screen with an 'X' mark so faint it's almost impossible to turn off without muting the tab while I'm trying to read about medieval wheelchairs.
The car salesman would probably not advertise the cars if it didn't help pay the bills and the youtuber would not advertsie the goofy ass adam and eve sponsership if it didn't help pay the bills also. anyway i love ad blocker. This rant is brought to you by: a mean comment left on a youtube channel about craft tutorials mad that she had a 30 second sponsor.

Oh, you know, just the usual internet browsing experience in the year of 2024
Tumblr media
Some links and explanations since I figured it might be useful to some people, and writing down stuff is nice.
First of all, get Firefox. Yes, it has apps for Android/iOS too. It allows more extensions and customization (except the iOS version), it tracks less, the company has a less shitty attitude about things. Currently all the other alternatives are variations of Chromium, which means no matter how degoogled they supposedly are, Google has almost a monopoly on web browsing and that's not great. Basically they can introduce extremely user unfriendly updates and there's nothing forcing them to not do it, and nowhere for people to escape to. Current examples of their suggested updates are disabling/severly limiting adblocks in June 2024, and this great suggestion to force sites to verify "web environment integrity" ("oh you don't run a version of chromium we approve, such as the one that runs working adblocks? no web for you.").
uBlockOrigin - barely needs any explanation but yes, it works. You can whitelist whatever you want to support through displaying ads. You can also easily "adblock" site elements that annoy you. "Please log in" notice that won't go away? Important news tm sidebar that gives you sensory overload? Bye.
Dark Reader - a site you use has no dark mode? Now it has. Fairly customizable, also has some basic options for visually impaired people.
SponsorBlock for YouTube - highlights/skips (you choose) sponsored bits in the videos based on user submissions, and a few other things people often skip ("pls like and subscribe!"). A bit more controversial than normal adblock since the creators get some decent money from this, but also a lot of the big sponsors are kinda scummy and offer inferior product for superior price (or try to sell you a star jpg land ownership in Scotland to become a lord), so hearing an ad for that for the 20th time is kinda annoying. But also some creators make their sponsored segments hilarious.
Privacy Badger (and Ghostery I suppose) - I'm not actually sure how needed these are with uBlock and Firefox set to block any tracking it can, but that's basically what it does. Find someone more educated on this topic than me for more info.
Https Everywhere - I... can't actually find the extension anymore, also Firefox has this as an option in its settings now, so this is probably obsolete, whoops.
Facebook Container - also comes with Firefox by default I think. Keeps FB from snooping around outside of FB. It does that a lot, even if you don't have an account.
WebP / Avif image converter - have you ever saved an image and then discovered you can't view it, because it's WebP/Avif? You can now save it as a jpg.
YouTube Search Fixer - have you noticed that youtube search has been even worse than usual lately, with inserting all those unrelated videos into your search results? This fixes that. Also has an option to force shorts to play in the normal video window.
Consent-O-Matic - automatically rejects cookies/gdpr consent forms. While automated, you might still get a second or two of flashing popups being yeeted.
XKit Rewritten - current most up to date "variation "fork" of XKit I think? Has settings in extension settings instead of an extra tumblr button. As long as you get over the new dash layout current tumblr is kinda fine tbh, so this isn't as important as in the past, but still nice. I mostly use it to hide some visual bloat and mark posts on the dash I've already seen.
YouTube NonStop - do you want to punch youtube every time it pauses a video to check if you're still there? This saves your fists.
uBlacklist - blacklists sites from your search results. Obviously has a lot of different uses, but I use it to hide ai generated stuff from image search results. Here's a site list for that.
Redirect AMP to HTML - redirects links from their amp version to the normal version. Amp link is a version of a site made faster and more accessible for phones by Bing/Google. Good in theory, but lets search engines prefer some pages to others (that don't have an amp version), and afaik takes traffic from the original page too. Here's some more reading about why it's an issue, I don't think I can make a good tl;dr on this.
Also since I used this in the tags, here's some reading about enshittification and why the current mainstream internet/services kinda suck.

The Evolution of Red Bull's YouTube: A Parasocial Deep Dive
To explain this insane media crit essay I accidentally started, I was wondering to myself why Formula One seems to have a lot of personality-driven social media promo content. Some people have commented that the drivers are marketed a lot like Kpop stars (or pop singers or influencers generally), where relatable media content builds up an audience that gets emotionally attached to the celebrity as a person, not just their work. I wanted to trace the roots of this style of content and see how it evolved, using Red Bull as a case study because of their current strong social media presence and my hypothesis that their status as an extreme sports sponsor assisted them in making content focused on individual athletes.
Abstract/ Summary: Red Bull's earliest videos in the early 2010s largely do not focus on the drivers as people and are mostly montage-type content with occasional formal interviews. Then, Daniel Ricciardo begins to treat the camera in a more friendly and casual way, giving himself a greater sense of relatability/ seeming more accessible to fans. Red Bull correspondingly begins to feature more silly and unscripted content, which intensifies once Verstappen joins the team and begins riffing off of Ricciardo. We see a growth in personality-focused and "challenge" type content with banter towards the end of Ricciardo's time at Red Bull, which continues with Gasly, Albon, and Perez and brings us to today. Currently, YouTube provides a seemingly casual and relatable look at the drivers, largely through humorous challenges, and feeds our expectations that drivers are accessible and come off as authentic to us as fans.
I started with Red Bull because they seem to have their social media content game on lock, with high budget and creative video challenges that also do a good job at showcasing the personalities of their drivers. I theorized that the reason they excelled at this social media marketing strategy was because Red Bull (the energy drink brand) sponsors a lot of extreme athletes, who are in solo sports or sports with very small teams-- thus, it would make sense for them to promote their sponsored athletes with personality-focused content. (This turned out to probably not be true, but we will get to that.)
Part (Multi Twenty) One: The Old Men
During this time period (early 2010s), any driver-focused videos are pretty short and often more focused on visually appealing montages. Mark Webber and or Sebastian Vettel will be filmed doing some fun activity and then maybe speaking to a reporter about the outing in a relatively polished, professional manner. The premise of these videos is similar to the content we see today-- ex. Seb shears a sheep, Mark and Seb have a beach filler episode-- but the way they are edited is much different. The drivers' interactions with each other are not included in the video, and there is not much focus on their personalities.
The most popular videos at this time are glossy stunt type content. There are also more quotidian things like simulator runs, news interviews, and track walks. Also some wacky highlights include a random pop music video and cringe parody martial arts short-- of which Vettel is in both, for some reason. But this disproves part of the hypothesis-- Red Bull did not start making personality focused content. Their experience as an extreme sports sponsor likely gave them experience in making stunt videos, but not content focused on driver personalities.
Part 2: 2 Dan, 2 Furious
The style of content doesn't immediately change when Ricciardo joins the team in 2014, beyond him getting roped into doing a bunch of travel vlogs, which are also more on the slick montage side even though he does get to crack some jokes at times. More cool stunts, more media interviews. When Daniil Kvyat arrives, the style of content shifts a little to focus more on the interactions between the two drivers, ex. the 2015 season preview and some shorts. There are also early inklings of the sillier modern content with some challenges and a sketch.
Then comes... the 2015 Christmas video, the first of many Red Bull Christmas videos. This one is unabashedly silly and also seems largely unscripted, representing a pretty clear break in content style. Crucially, we hear and see the drivers talking and interacting with EACH OTHER instead of just talking to a reporter off to the side, which is honestly a huge reason why today's silly driver content is so enjoyable and seems more authentic. Kvyat does a pretty traditional, scripted-sounding holiday greeting (which, fair enough, English isn't his first language and this is in line with most of the previous marketing videos), but Ricciardo is very casual and tells the camera among other things to have a "pimpin' good time"-- like a friend, rather than a formal acquaintance. Much more in line with today's style of content except it's shorter. However, this style is not initially popular, gaining only 34k views-- way less than stunt content from the same time like the F1 Car vs Rugby Team matchup that gets 2 million views.
Part 3: Rise of the Unserious Kings
By 2016, Ricciardo is very comfortable with the camera and being goofy, eventually with a smooth faced, slightly feral baby Verstappen in tow. The channel starts experimenting with silly short-form challenges that include some seemingly genuine reactions. In this travel video, they include clips with audio of Ricciardo joking around to people they meet, and Ricciardo even talks directly into the camera, saying he's not sure if he's supposed to say this, but pokes fun at himself for sweating with nerves over some air turbulence.
DANNY RIC IS POSSIBLY THE NEXUS BEING OF THIS STYLE OF CONTENT. (And the *pairing* of Ricciardo and Verstappen changed Red Bull media marketing, if not that of F1 teams in general.)
Ricciardo has begun not only relating directly to the camera, treating it as proxy for the fan viewer, but consciously trying to give it (and therefore us) an "unfiltered/ authentic" look into his own life and the lives of F1 drivers. He relates to the camera/viewer in a much more personal and friendly manner, acting like we are his friends and building that parasocial connection. Even in more conventional video types like explaining racing kit, Ricciardo is casual and humorous, a style that seems to garner lots of views for these videos (the racing kit one is at 1.5mil).
The previous more formal style of video, whether drivers talk to an offscreen interviewer or into the camera, gives us more distance-- treating viewers as strangers who should be treated with respect but are not owed intimacy. Ex. this short clip of Max in 2016 after his maiden win with Red Bull: he talks to the camera and speaks directly to fans, but in a more formal way. (Not saying this is bad! He's basically a kid and this is what most driver content was like up to this point. Besides, we as strangers do not necessarily deserve to know everything about a celebrity!)
Additionally, the pairing of Ricciardo and Verstappen seems to be a comedy gold mine. (How many clips of these two being chaotic have you seen?) Max may not seem quite as comfortable talking directly to the camera, which makes sense because it's kind of awkward. However, it's a lot less intimidating to be casual and silly to another flesh and blood person, merely in front of the camera-- especially if that person is Danny Ric who is going to give you material to riff off of. (Thus, why interactions between drivers are so generative of authentic-seeming, personality based content).
Max takes to the assignment of matching Ricciardo's energy with enthusiasm. Take, for example, the durian-opening challenge and the biking track tour (featuring Max making a bunch of silly vrooming noises as he speeds ahead of Daniel). The 2017 Christmas video shows how well Max and Daniel riff off each other, letting viewers see that Max has a silly personality as well ("Ki ki ki!!" "Aye aye aye!!" *Max dabs on the camera* *they throw fake food at each other and cackle*). During 2018, Red Bull starts solidifying the style of personality-focused challenge content that makes up much of their channel now, though it's interspersed between travel content without much talking and some more glossy stunt/ travel videos.
Part 4: A.D. (After Daniel)
After Daniel's departure, this challenge style continues with Gasly and then Albon. Red Bull also starts pulling in people from Toro Rosso to do crossover challenge episodes on location where they compete against each other, like much of today's videos on the Red Bull main channel. Ex. Albon and Kvyat face off against Verstappen and Gasly in a set of lumberjacking challenges in Canada, including a good bit of back and forth banter, which turns out to be a pretty popular video (1mil views).
Videos from Max and Alex's driver pairing era are almost entirely focused on their kind of chaotic interactions with each other. The challenges are higher production value but also silly in concept, such as the two designing their own custom box carts, allowing them to show off their artistic skills (or lack thereof) and name them stupid things. The 2019 Christmas video is also a gem. I haven't watched a ton of videos from this time, but it seems almost entirely absent of the the montages to background music or formal interview style from previous years. There is still of course some glossy stunt content, like the famed zero gravity pitstop.
And then covid! After which the content is split between the Oracle Red Bull Racing channel and the Red Bull main channel. The racing specific channel has the same news interviews and sim runs peppered with some more lowkey challenges and videos focusing on individual drivers, whereas the more famous high-effort and locationally themed videos are on the Red Bull main channel. (Ex. this 2021 Austria-themed video of Verstappen and Perez versus Gasly and Tsunoda partaking in many silly activities, including wearing lederhosen and boat racing, overseen by Red Bull's resident Darth Palpatine-esque figure Helmut Marko.)
Conclusion
Today's F1 promo content largely aims to give viewers a more goofy and "unfiltered" idea of what the drivers are like as people, allowing people to get more attached to specific drivers and form parasocial connections with them. Yet it was not always so! We don't start seeing more dialogue-heavy videos that strive to provide a more casual and "authentic" look into the Red Bull drivers until midway through Daniel Ricciardo's career as he starts treating the camera like a friend, seemingly giving us backstage access to what the drivers are "really" like. Through a more casual style of speaking to viewers and a focus on interactions between drivers, Red Bull social media is able to provide an avenue for drivers to show a more casual and relatable side to themselves.
Red Bull's previous focus on highflying stunts, travel montages, and limited or formal instances of driver dialogue portray the drivers as larger-than-life badasses who live big and ultimately unknowable lives to us commoners. This newer, more intimate style of video tries to do the opposite-- yes, the drivers live these crazy lives, but they put their pants (or racing suits) on one leg at a time too! They are unserious and relatable and (seemingly) knowable to us, allowing us normal people to get attached to them. You must first be known in order to be loved, and if fans love your drivers, it's good for business!
This shift largely seems to mirror the decline of celebrity mystique and the rise of celebrity relatability. Ex. Beyonce's been famous since the 90s and is (as is her right) private about her personal life, which in part fuels her idol status but also is frustrating to some of her fans. Meanwhile, younger celebrities like Selena Gomez or Emma Chamberlain built their brand off of being chronically online and (seemingly) unfiltered.
Future directions of study-- comparing other teams' channels. Danny Ric may have been partially to blame for Red Bull's shift in content, but I would like to do a deep dive into other teams as well.
Note: I put "authentic," "real," etc in quotes because at the end of the day, we are still strangers seeing a piece of media and do not actually know what public figures are actually like as people! Also disclaimer, I'm not really a fan of Red Bull as an institution given their questionable response to Christian Horner's misconduct allegations-- this investigation is more out of them being a good case study.

Arctic Odontocetes
And here's the three other Icelandic whales poster illustrations. All true Arctic species, roaming the frigid water of the high north. While Atlantic white-sided dolphins can occasionally be spotted along European shores, Narwhal and Belugas roam the true ice seas.
Narwhals are famous for their rather striking dentition: the huge, up to 3 meter long tusk, is hard to miss. It's actually their left canine tooth - every once in a while the right canine erupts too, making for a double-tusker. It's usually only males who are so adorned, as only a very small number of females (15%) bear tusks.
The exact function of the tusk is still debated: originally thought to be a simple weapon, now it is mostly thought to serve as a secondary sexual characteristic, inducing status in the bearer. The bigger the tooth, the sexier the man. However, researchers suspect they may have many more functions. Through the tusk run thousands of nerves which enable Narwhals to sense differences in water temperature and salinity. On top of that tusks have been observed to aid hunting and social interactions between males, and perhaps more. And the occasional Narwhal has been found with a broken tusk embedded in their cheek. So perhaps some good ole fashioned fighting happens after all, though no one has ever observed it happening.
The tuskless females survive just fine without them though and often live to be even older than males (up to 115 years!), so the advantages can't be that critical. Nevertheless it's fascinating to think about. Somewhere out there in the ice cold seas where we would freeze to death in an instant, swim whales - fellow mammals - sensing the waters with their 3 meter long canine tooth, occasionally slapping a fish unconscious. A wholly alien experience lived by an animal not so essentially different from us.
Atlantic white-sided dolphins may be far less mysterious, but nevertheless amongst my favourite delphinids. They've such beautiful markings. And the beluga... no doubt well known too as living marshmallows. I must say that youtube videos of their melons and fatty flabs being wobbled is great watching material.
Also - the "Whales of Iceland" poster is officially up for sale! You can nab one at Pappyr's website here. Not sponsored or anything, I just think the poster turned out super neat.

do you think cybertronians would like to have those vinyl wrapping 'paint' jobs? on the one hand having something so uuhhh... for lack of a better phrase 'form-fitting' might feel quite uncomfortable at first, and it might be a challenge for certain frame types to keep it from pilling or ripping from transformation... tht being said i think of this mostly because i love ambulon, and I want him to feel good about his appearance. 😊
I'm guessing that Ambulon has their version of a skin condition, considering that Cybertronians are really adaptable, including their color palette. It could be related to his origins as a combiner or to the experimentation, but the chromatic nanites are frozen/locked to his old pigment.
I did have some thoughts on vinyl wrap because of YouTube shorts lol
A Cybertronian equivalent between "slap" bracelets and temporary body paint
It can be used as a quick fix or a temporary design before settling on a more permanent coding change. Some mecha enjoy using vinyls continuously, changing their colors and ripping off bits as a coping mechanism, boredom, or a way to display artistic skill since it's one of the very few avenues that's available to all castes.
Raves and clubs popularized the vibrant, resplendent hues of mandala designs and surrealism, but vinyl has its beginnings in bloodsport with fighters differentiating themselves with a design of a clade's sigil, a sponsor's favor, or the stylized glyphs of their own epitaph. When vinyl became cheaper and available to the public, fans decorated themselves with their favorite fighters' colors or markings. Peeling it off afterward because bloodshort is officially illegal.
The material's fragility is part of the charm. It's supposed to be temporary and fleeting, so underground raves take it to exemplify artistic freedom and bodily autonomy. Pop up of various establishments and kinks happen at such gatherings. A specific hue with a specific placement on the frame will correlate to specific deviancies or organizations.
Polyhex is infamous for surrealistic designs, both charmingly whimsical and nightmare-inducing madness. There are contests in Praxus on producing geometric designs. Winners are often chosen by category: one that suits the theme, one that utilizes the most colors, one that's the most creative effects, and one that's the most mathematically correct. Vos holds similar contests, but winners are chosen in a game of tag by ripping off other's designs.
Vinyls have a long history with the Artisanal Caste. It's easy material to use in the conceptual phase, and common material to patch costumes. It's an old trick by performance artists to use it as a "touch up." With the right quality and materials, they seem fresh for the camera.

S1E12: Fire
Case: An incel played by Mark Sheppard is lighting people (and things, but we're more concerned about the people) on fire, and they can't figure out how he's doing it. This case is brought to Mulder's attention by his toxic British ex, Phoebe (who, as far as Mulder's exes go, is way more charismatic than Fowley so -shrug emoji-), and the two of them go off to Massachusetts to stop some rich British people from being barbecued. Half the people in this episode are weirdly horny, especially the fire expert guy at the Bureau who sounds like he's in the process of getting off when he describes pictures of fire. Mark Sheppard kicks a dog. Mulder literally says the words, "That's one of the luxuries to hunting down aliens and genetic mutants—you rarely get to press charges," so at least they're self-aware. Also, he's terrified of fire and apparently "cursed" with a photographic memory—I'm pretty sure neither of these things ever come up again. Meanwhile, the only person doing any actual FBI work is Scully. Thank god for her.
Does someone die in the cold open: Ah, yeah. Death by psychic immolation. Not the nicest way to go.
Does Mulder present a slideshow: No, but he does get practical joked into thinking he's about to die in a car bombing. Take note, Youtube pranksters.
Does the evidence survive the investigation: The most damning evidence is Incel Mark Sheppard himself, and while he's definitely a little crispy, he makes it to the end.
Whodunit: Incel Mark Sheppard
Convictions: Incel Mark Sheppard will face prosecution once he's done applying aloe to his burns. They are kind of not sure how to do that given that he can light literally anything flammable on fire with his mind. If it was 2024 they'd just do a Zoom call, but alas.
Did they solve it: Yes!
[how do i determine if an episode is solved? check the scale here: x]

Total Number of Times Scully Has Conveniently Not Seen Something Crucial: 4 (she was kind of the only person paying actual attention to anything this episode)

My Love Mix Up ended! My feelings didn't change all too much. Even before I felt like GMMTV did GemFourth and their fans dirty. Who had the idea to give them such a cheap attempt at a series? My new theory is that this was their way of satisfying the fans with a series that didn't use much budget - because look at the amount of sponsors. So they gave GemFourth something simple to play, a story people would watch (I haven't met many people that didn't like Kieta Hatsukoi) and that was easy to fund with 12 sponsors or however many there were.
If they did that to my ForceBook, I'd be LIVID. At this moment, I'm glad I'm a casual GemFourth fan. My disappointment with GMM is big, but I'll manage. I just feel really bad for their fans, because what in the world was this series? They threw Kongthap's character under the bus and destroyed any good moment by surrounding it with a bunch of product placements, that simply destroyed my viewing experience.
I wrote this before, but if this was some no-name couple and their first series, I'd be okay with how this went down. I'd still not be happy about it, but I'd be okay. They need to get financed. But GeminiFourth? They brought in 1M tweets with nearly zero effort an I'm shaking my head, because I've seen MANY better series this year that struggled to get to the 500K mark.
So in the end, the series was not something I hate. It was fluffy and cute, I loved some of the scenes and nobody talk bad about these actors, because all of them were spot on and tried their best. Fourth's acting was so good and he would have deserved a better series to pour his soul into like this. Atom talking to Kongthap's mom and him waiting anxiously for his university application result had me close to tears, DESPITE the bad rest of the episode.
I am glad I see tweets of people who genuinely enjoyed the series. It's just I'm not one of them and I'll probably not come back to this version of Kieta Hatsukoi. Maybe if someone uploads a commercial-and-product-placement-cleaned version one day. Should be short enough for a re-watch then lol I felt so bad that the last few weeks, I'd come home from work on my Friday, look at Youtube and be like "Oh right, the new episode is up. Guess I'll watch this one quickly." when for pretty much any other weekday series I'll start watching ON THE TRAIN because I'm looking forward to a new episode.
What this series teaches me, though, is that maybe some couples did take a break consciously this year. Because naturally there is a budget for a year of productions and GMMTV has to go for cheaper and more expensive productions to make the most of it. Some will have to sit out. I'm just not sure I like this cheap way out as a solution for cash cows like GemFourth just to keep fans happy. Is it "better than nothing"? Was this the smartest move? I'm not too sure. I just know my rating for this one is not good enough for what GF would have deserved.

Race 8 Austrian Grand Prix 2020
“Why?” Jungkook asks as he’s walking to the Ferrari office. It’s a meeting and photoshoot heavy day for him.
“Because I have a job now, even if it’s sorting my father’s emails and arranging his meetings, I can’t be there every weekend” you explain calmly as you swivel around in your office chair.
“What’s your day like today?” he asks as a fan stops him for a picture, he’s becoming better at being popular as every race happens.
“We have a few apartment showings, so I’ll be shadowing him, start to figure out if I want to do this or not” you say sipping on your coffee, you’d been arriving early at the office to have some moments of peace before the chaos starts.
“What is your day like?” you ask him and he just grunts, knowing how bad it is to sit through meetings.
“I have a strategy meeting, another meeting with the communications team, lunch with a bunch of promoters and in the evening we’re shooting a bunch of videos for ferrari’s youtube channel” Jungkook reiterates his schedule for the day, and he’s already starting to feel tired.
“Press has just been awful since the last race, no wonder we’re having comms meeting two days in a row” Jungkook had been trying to stay away from the negative headlines but everyone was absolutely shitting on Phillip this week.
“They like pitting you and Phillip against each other, last week was all the ammunition they needed” you had been screening all the click baity articles, they were absolutely making Phillip lose his mind.
“Do you think he hit me on purpose or was I really in his blind spot?” Jungkook asks opening the door to the conference room, most people are already here. Phillip is already slouched against a chair, looking defeated already.
“No comment” “Boo Freaking Hoo!!” he says and you can’t help but smile like a stupid idiot.
“Call me later if you can” you say and Jungkook hums a goodbye as he takes a seat opposite Phillip.
“So, lots of bad press, people are divided” Claudia says, placing down multiple article print outs and newspapers on the table.
“And thank you Phillip for snapping at the sky sports reporter, just handing them their headlines” this hasn’t been Phillip’s week, and he’s done with cameras and reporters.
“We need to take hold of the narrative or at least change it because the sponsors aren’t happy with the two drivers seemingly fighting each other. How about you go golfing or something this tuesday” Claudia suggests and Phillip immediately nods his head no.
“He can’t golf to save his life and I have my sister’s birthday party that day-”
“So, just invite Jungkook, because I really need the news narrative to change” Claudia says with an authoritative tone, the two of them can’t even think about going against her.
“I don’t want to intrude on a family thing-” Jungkook sounds a little offended by the whole situation, mostly he’s a little ticked off about you not telling him about your coming birthday.
“It’s not, it’s a surprise party with a few friends, I was going to invite you anyway” Phillip says and Claudia smiles widely.
“This is sorted then, I need at least a story with the birthday girl on the two of your instagram’s” The two of them are left alone as Claudia leaves, there’s still this animosity in the air.
“Just so we’re clear, I didn’t hit your car on purpose,” Phillip says, looking Jungkook square in his eyes.
“I know that,” Jungkook replies, a little too confidently.
“How can you be so sure?” Phillip asks as he sits up straight.
“You’re competitive, not petty” Jungkook leaves with a big smirk on his face, he’s been enjoying the season so far a little too much.

650 VODS PUBLISHED!! ON THE ROAD TO 800!!
Tumblr media
Hello geckos! Ready for another big update? This time we have good, but also some bad news as well, unfortunately. Let’s start with the good news.
How many vtubers do you know that keep a VODs channel? Surprisingly there are not many! Today the costs of file storage are very low but despite that many vtubers and their communities still choose not to keep them. And thus countless moments are completely lost forever, "like tears in the rain"...
We know that there are many other vtubers in our community, and to them we’d like to say: the memories you create with your own communities and friends is very precious, worth sharing, literally capable of transforming lives as you bring so much joy to the people who watch you, and countless more who are yet to find your amazing content.
650 VODS!
We’re glad to inform our lovely gecko community that we have just crossed the mark of 650 VODs published! That’s right. The Zentreya Twitch VODs channel is now a strong candidate to become one of the largest vtuber archives on the internet, thanks to an absolutely incredible community who loves and cares for our kamioshi, and was able to record literally thousands and thousands of hours of Zen. But there’s more! Right now we are strong on the road to 800 VODs as we prepare the next batch of 100 to be uploaded, which is an amazing number that we expect to be crossing in the next few months.
Tumblr media
DeadPark
For this current batch of more than 100 VODs that have already been published recently, we would like to, once again, thank DeadPark for this incredible contribution, straight out of their personal backups. We’re also going to work together on publishing the next 100 VODs, mostly from 2022 (Cyborg Zen 1.0 era)! DeadPark keeps a website entirely dedicated to retro games, with news, articles and more. So, to all the fans of retro games, go check out their website at https://DeadPark.com. Also, feel free to follow them on Twitter/X: https://x.com/DeadParkGames/ Thank you so much! OUTFIT DEBUT RE-UPLOADS
Again, thanks to DeadPark, we’re about to start re-uploading Zen’s outfit debuts in 1080p very soon now, and this includes her 2D and 3D outfits as requested by the fans. We already have all of them available on the channel, but mostly in 720p. So stay tuned for the re-uploads! MORE TIMESTAMPS!
Tumblr media
Wade Tunnell
We also would like to thank once again Wade Tunnell for the absolutely incredible work on timestamping literally hundreds of Zen’s VODs! All the 100 recent VODs have already been timestamped, and while we prepare another batch of VODs to be published he’s been also very kindly doing the same for some of the old VODs as well. Thank you very much Wade!
And now, to the bad news... A COPYRIGHT STRIKE... Unfortunately there are some bumps on the road, and YouTube keeps getting in the way. On April 27, 2024, the channel received a copyright strike (our first one) due to one of the songs played during Zen’s stream.
Tumblr media
That stream was a sponsored one, and she had acquired proper authorization beforehand to play that specific song during that stream on Twitch, but unfortunately different platforms means different rules, and YouTube has been on a true crackdown on copyrighted content for a while now. So the entire VOD containing that specific song got deleted by YouTube immediately after the upload, and the channel remained under the effect of said strike for the next 90 days after that. Some of you have already noticed that there was a slowdown on the uploads during that period. We had to take extra care with what to upload, and there’s a few VODs that still need to undergo a special attention in order to be re-uploaded, and this extra care will have to be kept moving forward. But there’s still a lot of old VODs to be uploaded along with the recent ones as well. We will try to re-upload that specific VOD from the image above (the one that caused the copyright strike), but we need to find time to do some research and decide how to appropriately edit it first.
For the people who are not familiarized with how YouTube works, if a channel receives 3 copyright strikes within a specific time frame, the ENTIRE channel gets mercilessly deleted! Now, that is truly scary… So, the same way that this channel got reactivated by the efforts of Zen’s community, we encourage anyone to download any videos that you want from here and from her Twitch channel (they get automatically deleted from there after 2 months, and we just keep re-uploading them on YouTube). We never know what’s gonna happen tomorrow, and if anything YouTube has proven time and time again that it just cannot be trusted.
While re-uploading the VODs from here to another YouTube channel can possibly cause problems to you and Zen due to YouTube’s Duplicate Content Policy, we encourage anyone who wishes to preserve their most cherished memories and can afford to the costs of storage, of course, to download them for themselves and save them on your own hard drives. After all, it’s thanks to this practice that this channel could be re-activated in the first place. We know this all sounds frustrating, but unfortunately this seems to be the best we can do at the moment. We will keep uploading them to this channel for the time being for the sake of keeping an archive online in one place. But the best source to get the best VODs is still on Zen’s official Twitch channel, and by downloading them from there while they're still fresh it’s guaranteed that you will always get the best quality of all.
OTHER THREATS TO THE CHANNEL...
In the recent months we’ve seen popping up here and there rumors that major record labels such as Universal Music and others are pulling their music from TikTok and other apps and social networks in general. Apparently this is happening in preparation for the release of their own direct-to-consumer services. We can’t prove this, but such moves coincide with some strange behaviors that we have been observing on YouTube recently and that has been causing some trouble for this channel in the background.
Some people are starting to complain that old VODs are disappearing from this channel. We have found out that some VODs that have been published months, even years ago, videos that have been given lots of likes and comments, have now been partially or even 100% blocked by YouTube due to copyrighted songs and/or video excerpts that were played during Zen’s streams. Some of these songs and videos have been on YouTube since forever, some of them played thousands and thousands of times, but only recently seems to have been mysteriously claimed.
Tumblr media
Old VODs that have been blocked recently.
This means that YouTube has begun retroactively scanning through old videos looking for more copyrighted contents to block. This poses a constant threat to all the work that have been done up until now, as we keep seeing old VODs being blocked every now and then. The way we deal with this is to apply the muting tools provided by YouTube to the troubled videos and pray for it to work. One of the options provided is to use YouTube’s built-in AI to remove the copyrighted song from the background while preserving Zen’s voice. This results in a significant drop in the audio quality of these segments, and Zen's voice sounds like she is speaking from an old radio or phone line (if you have come across any of such segments, now you know why). Sometimes this tool doesn’t work at all, and the only way is to mute the whole claimed segment, which is heartbreaking. Fortunately it only spans from a few seconds to some minutes. But there are some VODs with hours-worth of segments claimed. And when the content claimed is a video excerpt, the only tool available is to cut off the entire claimed segment from the VOD, including the video, rendering it truncated and losing continuity.
Tumblr media
This only proves that YouTube is definitely not the best place to store the VODs, as it is not future-proof, despite millions of people around the world using it all the time. Again, we encourage anyone to download any VODs that you want, especially while they’re still fresh on Zen’s Twitch channel, because the quality of the video there is also quite superior when compared to YouTube.
Now, onto some other news...
PLAYLISTS
Because we are speeding up the upload of the next 100 VODs from 2022 (along with the most recent streams) we won’t be focusing on creating more playlists at this moment, but we have started adding more Playlists as well, such as collabs, RWBY, D&D and New outfit debut! There's tons of VODs yet to be added to those Playlists, but take this as a sneak peak of what this is going to be. Basically tons of Playlists with themes, dates, games, etc.
VOD REQUESTS
As you all probably have noticed, we are not currently publishing the VODs in any particular order, because we are still focusing on uploading the old ones, and dealing with YouTube behind the scenes is much more complicate than it may sound like. But many of the ones uploaded in recent months have been requests from the community. Whenever you guys comment requesting a VOD we take note of them and notify you back by replying to your comments as soon as we upload them. Unfortunately we were not able to find some of them yet, but as soon as we get a new VOD we quickly scan them to see if it matches any existing request. Please, feel free to keep suggesting more VODs in the comments section, as this channel is all about keeping memories alive.
A HUGE THANK YOU!
Thank you very much for all the love and support for Zentreya, the other VShojo members, their friends, the mods, and for our VODs channel, for all the likes and lovely comments! You are all always so amazing and it’s always great to see you! You guys make all this work worthwhile. We truly hope that all this effort brings you more ways to watch our favorite vtuber and relive so many great moments. Please, feel free to contact us if you would like to contribute with one or more VODs that you believe we don’t have.
Tumblr media

*M A S T E R L I S T U P D A T E*
Another couple of things added this week:
Hannah 's interview on Fox 5
I'd add her interview with Kelly & Mark too, but the only one I can find is a guy streaming it and he sort of has a commentary throughout it, so I didn't bother. (I can share if anyone wants it anyway)
Some more things I came across on youtube:
Ted Lasso interview on Live in the D
Ted Lasso at PaleyFest LA 2021 sponsored by Citi and Verizon
Conversations at Home with TED LASSO
'Ted Lasso' stars Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple on darts scene, 'biscuits with the boss' real taste
And episode 3 of Krapopolis has been added too.
As always, if you have anything to add or notice a link is broken, then please let me know!!

What is a normie?
Is the worst nostalgia the nostalgia you have for a time you weren't even alive to remember? I don't think I'm alone in my generation for feeling envious of people who got to experience the last decade of individualism right before me, in the nineties.
I go back and forth on it. Reading Chuck Klosterman on the nineties, how we we could enjoy technology without being enslaved to it, american consumerism seemed so harmlessly fun like early youtube before ads, it's hard not to see the time as adam & eve in the garden of eden before eve met the serpent, through a contemporary lens. Then I get cynical about it, how I'd still find things and people to hate like Bill Hicks did. Or how deceiving age can be, that the younger years are remembered better than the older, present years. I think we just romanticize the past to repress the knowing that we'll always have something good we took for granted only in retrospect.
In retrospect that has to be the individualism. And the most pointed approach to compare 90s individualism to today is to start by defining what a normie is. In 2024, a normie is someone who scrolls through executions in third world countries when work is slow. Someone who knows podcasters better than their own family members. Someone who is afraid to take the airpods out. It is someone who has seen more sex than the amount of sex their grandparents ever had. People or animals. By the age of 16. Again I don't want to romanticize a time I wasn't around for or be too cynical of the present but goddammit I know people had an imagination beyond fucking spongebob memes and office references. It's not just that a 90s normie is less depressed than today's normies, better question what is an individual today? If you are an individual today, you do not have a niche hobby like coin collecting or you play the didgeridoo. If you are an individual today you must have an in depth knowledge of government sponsored satanic pedophile cults, transhumanism, the singularity, CIA psy-ops & coups, the federal reserve, proxy wars, mRNA vaccines, mind control, special prosecutors, ballistics, and if just the awareness alone doesn't make you jaded enough, the ostracization by friends, family, would-be-friends, and would-be-family will leave you standing on a sidewalk on a cinematic fall day, kids launching off swings into raked piles of leaves, mothers pushing strollers wondering if maybe it's YOU.
Yes the normies in the 90s were a little too naïve but they were unique at heart. We weren't supposed to stay that way forever, but this hip kind of narcisstic nihilism should not be the successor to that naïve but aspiring individualism in the nineties. The human's evolution of consciousness starts out as gullible, recklessly curious as a child, then undergoes a melancholic metamorphosis throughout adolescene before a level-headed, purpose-driven adult can emerge. I think the last pre-internet era, the 60s through the 90s was the childhood of the current collective conscious. Enjoying and benefiting from acid, rock n roll, consumerism with some class and imagination - a very apelike enlightenment before the childlike wonder wears off, naturally, but saturated through conformity pressures stifiling pure creativity, conditioning to the 9-5 starts in kindergarten. Then the information-age up until covid was the edgy adolescene. Having the what-you-were-taught innocence questioned in a forum then unrecognizably changed emerging from a rabbit hole. 9/11, pearl harbor, JFK, like finding out santa claus isn't real, drawing swastikas over the teacher's marks on your space race report.
People should have graduated by the end of covid. This is still the information age, but it's now post-covid and pre-singularity. Time to grow up and stop being so naïve or sardonic.

In case people aren’t aware and would enjoy it, Taker’s ‘Six Feet Under’ podcast has moved over to YouTube and you can go subscribe for the princely sum of ZERO. It’s free! It does have sponsors on board, so you get the occasional cringy moment of Mark talking about something that you know chances are he doesn’t use, but aside from that, it’s the same kind of deal.
The Patreon page will stay, and be the home of Q&As and other exclusive content but in the meantime, the link to Six Feet Under 2.0, Episode #1 can be found below:
