So I watched Cengiz’s livestream today and it was precious! 

He was hanging out with Mutta and Simo and his girlfriend and family and they did a bunch of cute things (and some not cute things like when Mutta was supposed to be driving but Cengiz was the one holding the wheel and steering it with one hand while Mutta was texting... yike boys why?) and then they drove to go pick up Yousef. Adam wasn’t there though because he was stuck in Olso, which was like 40 minutes away from where they were, but his song came on when they were in the car and Cengiz was all like Adam’s with us through the song. It was adorable they’re all like a little family, I love it!

I’m so glad they’re all really close in real life, like their friendship is great and I love it. It always makes me really happy when cast members hang out with each other and are really good friends outside of the show so to see that with these guys it made me extra happy because I love them all!

Arelette and an ink manipulator named Kasim Fareed had been cellmates during their time captured by an illegal genome project in May 2013. Some days, they were the only ones keeping each other sane, and hopeful of escape. Connections made that way are hard to forget, especially when their first taste of freedom lead them to a one-night stand upon reaching safety in Port Said…

Arrie didn’t think she’d get pregnant. She was only 20, and on the run. Hardly the ideal person to be a mother. Once the evidence became undeniable though, Arelette was faced with the hardest decision of her life. She amazingly chose to keep the baby, giving birth to Malik Arsène Fareed Gâtecœur on February 28th, 2014, a full month before being captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. in Vietnam.

Upon Arrie’s release, she hesitantly made the call to Kasim to tell him that he was a father, anticipating the worst reaction. Kasim, though understandably shocked, agreed to try his best to be a part of Malik’s life, though they both admitted that it would be hard. Arelette told him that if it became too difficult, that she’d understand him stepping away.

Arrie still opted to live in New York City, out of concern for her child’s safety (since he was likely to become a mutant as well), buying the loft in Ridgewood, Queens. However, Malik becomes her world, and the safehouse network ambition was shoved aside to provide as much as she could for her son. Mathieu and Jean-Pierre often took turns babysitting the boy until he was old enough to go into preschool, while Arelette worked two part-time jobs to make ends meet.

At age 25, Arelette started a martial arts dojo just below her Ridgewood loft, where she teaches people from all walks of life Tai Chi and Wing Chun. Her and Malik have visited Kasim twice, once when he was three, and again at age four, both times during the spring break. Besides that, Kasim and Arelette have resolved to weekly FaceTime calls to help keep Malik connected to his father, as well as summer trips to Egypt, once Malik is old enough to travel by himself. Arelette has also been adamant about Malik staying true to his roots ; she enrolled him for weekly Arabic classes, and also refuses to speak any language other than French to him at home.

The majority of Arrie’s canon events before April 6th, 2014, are assumed to have occurred. Malik’s mutant powers on neon generation and manipulation manifests at age 15, which at that point will get him enrolled into Xavier’s. Even at that age though, Mailk himself is a skilled martial artist and proficient in parkour as well. Malik’s teen/young adult fc is Yousef Hjelde El Mofty.

I’ve seen a few posts reminding people that though his skin is described as white/pale due to his vampirism, Baz is in fact of Egyptian heritage on his mother’s side, therefore a person of color. 

Rainbow has said in an interview: “When I was imagining them I was imagining Baz like Andrew [Ridgeley] from Wham!, which is a pop band from the '80s, with a little bit of Nicholas Hoult and a little bit of Ezra Miller.”
