Haven't watched anything KristSingto recently but he's right

You can think of fanservice what you want. But the moment you want to police or censor it, it turns into something really problematic. And this stance comes from 2 or even 3 different oppinioned sides but they ironically melt into the same outcome.

But at the end of the day most people forget / ignore, regardless of anything, fanservice still helps normalising public queer affection. And let's be real, most of the stuff in those stage and event shows are that... a show or even a performance! Do you protest at your local theater when they have queer characters kissing? Do you notice how this sounds in a sentence? Yes actors are real people and not characters but especially BL actors & idols still perform stage shows and kind of have a public enertainer persona. You notice how different they are on stage vs. in their personal live streams + nowadays most actors are even very honest about just doing fs for show & fun and often genuine (platonic) affection towards their acting partner but don't pretend to be actual dating (and the ones who do will most likely not lightheartedly come out with it like that... apparently there are exceptions but I have not enough insight on them to judge). You should watch some serious interviews or live stream (translations) of your favs now and then maybe to learn more about them and the industry, they are more than just pretty faces... Actors in just my bubble who talked open about the fanservice topic as far as legally possible at least: JamesSu, Perth Nakhun and I guess we can count Pavel and Nut as well.

What fans make out of it is a whole different story.... and one of the reasons people want to shut down fanservice as a whole. But imagine how lighthearted, fun and easy going this whole thing could be if we didn't had all these toxic naive fans who think every interaction is proof of actors dating (or worse: cheating) in RL. That mindset of "we are BL fans of course we are delulu" is not a joke anymore among some of them. They srsly take pride in that... babes you are part of the problem, stop encouraging it!

Then on the other side, being critical of some of the practices of the industry is one thing but it should not lead into backwards queer censoring... but that's what some are swaying to with their "real people queerbait" agenda or getting the cringes when (samesex) people interact romantically or erotically during live events (that's a bit of a you thing my dears. not necessarily in a queerphobic way but in a purity / shy way and that is a you problem to deal with not anyone elses problem)....

And a lot of people don't even understand or get what most people criticise about fanservice and just jump onto the ban-fanservice train. Without understanding the nuances nor the actual industry circumstances. Like one main argument here isn't even true. Lot of people assume actors get forced into fs. Which is not true (source: one of Perth Nakhuns Q&A vids, the 2. vid i think). BL actors usually know what they get into by entering the industry, decide with eo how much they want to do. Now that can still cause internal personal conflicts like one going over board or not playing enough but that's human miscommunication. Or companies can still be bastards but it's unfair to generalise it over the whole industry when we nowadays have companies who give their actors that freedom.

There are still some points to criticise, definitely. Like I personally dislike how MCs and sponsors sometimes treat actors during events or how fans scream at every little move or glance like crazy.... But the topic is a bit more nuanced (as always in this world) than how most people look at it. I just mean it really always sticks out when you talk with people about their reasons why they are anti fanservice that they just repeat after another with no sources or without actual up to date information or only look at it from one side.

I personally am in the middle. I only like fs when the actors have fun with it and are transparent about it. In the end it comes down to actors consent what they want to give to the audience (reason why it annoys me when people write "i feel like i am interrupting something here / am intuding their privacy" the actors consented! they want you to watch if you want to see it! consent babes! it is fine)

(when i see someone coming in with "but Krist is a homophobe" I will bite you. I am not even his fan and already researched what happened back then when I first saw those accusations when I got into BL 2021ish. It is really not that hard to look up the source and reports of people who were live pressent at the time to understand what went down back then. Ya know instead of believing rumors that twist and lie for rage bait)

absolutely no need to apologize, i love asks and i love to talk ksjdhf!!! sometimes i take a bit to reply but thats just me being sleepytired all the time + wanting to actually ponder my response.

so to me trans tim comes from two main places: a) im queer so i just hit all of my favs with the queer stick like oprah giving out cars, but also more importantly b) i think tim's relationship with his dad and with masculinity as a role, as influenced by his relationship with his dad, are fascinating spaces to play in. some of my friends take this and run with it in the transfem tim direction and i totally see that and love it too!! while i'm a transmasc tim truther by default i think either way, the thing is just like . haha hey this guy overthinks about masculinity and the role he needs to play about it. He's Not Cis.

the funny part of that is chuck dixon definitely didn't mean for it to come off that way, but looking at things like tim getting antsy about guys at school not thinking he's a man's man enough because he "didn't have a car" and ari owned up to that, or tim faking not knowing how to fight in front of ari that time at the theater and hating that "his girl" had to watch him get beaten up, etc... he worries a lot about being masculine enough. this is probably some kind of insight into just one facet of the many things wrong with chuck dixon as a human being, but i like to take it as a far more fun and spicy insight into tim viewing gender as a role he has to play. to me it reads like he thinks being a boy/man means ticking a set of boxes correctly. and he does get some - he likes going to ball games, he's athletic and active, he's got guy friends like ives, girls like him - but others are things he has to try at. does he actually like going on fishing trips with his dad? does it actually matter if alfred wants him to dress as a woman? who is it actually affecting if ari says he doesn't have a car? is his prickliness around some of these things, perhaps, indicative of something going on in his weird little freak head?

this is why i love to write him as transmasc but genderfluid. its just that he does not realize the genderfluidity until he's an adult because he keeps telling himself "well i'm a guy and that means i tick THESE boxes and i do NOT tick THOSE ones" and ignoring any discomfort that causes him. it's all tied up in his mental picture of masculinity, which is all tied up with his feelings about his father. which are all tied up in his grief and guilt over jack's death. so he will not be unpacking this for a WHILE. but boy howdy is it fun to dissect!

Some Highly Recommended Kdrama

My pal @troubled-mind asked me if I had any recommendations for good kdramas to watch, and my answer to that is: literally always. I put together this short list for them and decided to share in case anyone else is interested.

Parameters for this list: modern setting, strong focus on friendship dynamics, mix of genres, avoid university settings, no one-sided romantic pursuits, and no terribly sad endings

Be Melodramatic/Melo Is My Nature (Viki)

Fantastic friendship focused drama about a group of close friends who all move in together in the wake of personal crises. A healing drama that includes a couple love lines. And an out gay side character (still extremely rare for mainstream kdrama, unfortunately). This one will make you laugh and cry.

Happiness (Viki)

Pandemic zombies attack! Now I am not really a zombie person, but I absolutely love this show. It’s about a pair of working class besties who decide to get married in order to win a housing lottery (one of them may or not be hoping this fake marriage turns real), then immediately get caught in a lockdown with all their new neighbors when there’s a zombie virus outbreak. Shenanigans ensue! This is more action thriller than horror, and the two main characters are some of my all time favs. The writing, plotting, and pacing are tight as hell and it’s a rare perfect 10 for me on that front.

Coffee Prince (Viki)

MY BELOVED. This is an absolute classic genderbend kdrama that I’ve watched several times. The show that made Gong Yoo famous. An honest to goodness queer narrative about a chaebol who meets a girl pretending to be a boy for poverty reasons, falls in love, and has a bisexual awakening. This show was way ahead of its time even if it doesn’t use our modern language (you will not hear the words trans, non-binary or bi/pansexual but trust me, they’re there). Also features a fun friend group who all work together at the coffee shop. I try to make everyone watch this one, and recently got @bengiyo and @kyr-kun-chan to watch and validate my read of the story, and they enjoyed it a lot despite the messy hets. Be warned though that this drama is old old, so you’ll need to adjust to the visuals.

Fight for My Way (Viki)

My all time favorite friends to lovers drama, this is a coming of age tale of two best friends and their long journey to getting on the same page about romance. Their dynamic is fantastic and the story is mostly set in their early adulthood as they try to establish themselves in careers and make sense of their bond as adults. Also features their close friends who form a fun little group with them. And Park Seo Joon, a god among drama actors.

Hospital Playlist (Netflix)

If you want excellent friendship dynamics, look no further. This show is all about a group of five friends who met in college and have stuck together for over two decades and all of life’s ups and downs. The story begins when they find themselves all working in the same hospital for the first time since med school and decide to restart their old band. Yes, there will be singing, and no, you don’t have to cover your ears - the cast is stacked with South Korea’s best musical theater talent. This drama is slice of life and takes us through a couple years with them as they reforge their bonds and each deal with their own family baggage and love lives.

Misaeng (Netflix)

My all time favorite workplace drama that has the unique distinction of being the only show to ever make me literally burst into happy tears. No romance in this one. Story centers on a former baduk prodigy (think if Reply 1988 Taek stalled out instead of becoming a master) who attempts to enter the workforce with no discernible skills. He bumbles and fumbles and alternately competes with and bonds with his fellow interns, and forms a deep and lasting relationship with his mentor. When I tell you this show is a master class in writing to create emotional stakes, phew! How else can you explain me getting deep in my feelings over the success or failure of an import/export company?

My Mister (Netflix or Viki)

This one is a bit darker, as it deals with themes of intergenerational trauma, abuse, poverty, depression, and general ennui. Not a romance, this drama focuses on the strange and unexpected bond that forms between a middle aged man and a younger woman working on his team. They meet at an important inflection point in both their lives and forge a friendship that changes them both. Really moving and utterly beautiful, with an ending that will make you feel happy to be alive.

Extraordinary You (Viki)

Time for a change up! This is a fantasy show in which the main character becomes self aware and realizes she is a side character in a manwha. Technically set in a school (inside the manwha) but not actually about that. She bonds with another side character who is self aware, and the two of them start working to change the story so that they can break free (and fall in love while doing it, naturally). The concept of this one is just so cool and they do a lot of interesting things with it, plus the visuals are stunning.

The Uncanny Counter (Netflix)

Because I know you liked Oh No! Here Comes Trouble, I’m adding this one about a kid who discovers he has superpowers and teams up with a little found family of grim reapers to fight evil. The family unit is great and there’s lots of good stuff in their various relationships with each other. This one is a lot of fun but also touches on the characters’ sad backstories and family lives.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo (Viki)

You said to avoid university settings but I’m adding this one in case you want to give a classic college romance a try. My fav in that category, it’s a sports romance between a weightlifter and a swimmer who used to be childhood friends and reconnect in college while they’re struggling with performance issues, body image, and romance. It’s a friends to lovers slow burn and they are utterly adorable.

tysm for the recommendations!! tbh I'm not super familiar with the folk punk or folk metal genres, although I am a fan of Celtic music in general.

for punk, some of my current favs are Pennywise, Rancid, Gum Disease, Bad Religion, Agent Orange, Subhumans, Leftöver Crack (which is a hilarious name to say out loud when recommending to people irl), Worriers, The Queers, NOFX, and Screeching Weasel. Usually pretty fast-paced stuff (or, as my non-punk friends call it, "people screaming into microphones") and very political, so if that's your kind of thing you're in the right place!

In terms of metal, one of my favorite bands of all time is Trauma, with follow-ups including Queensryche, The Cult, In This Moment (not to be dramatic but I would die for Maria), Dream Theater, Ayreon, Lacuna Coil, and Nightwish. Ayreon in particular draws inspiration from Celtic-style music in some of their songs, and I think they pull it off really well while still not straying too far from the metal genre.

So yeah! Thank you sm for the recommendations, now I know what I'm gonna be listening to this afternoon lmao :) always down to talk music more if you want, I could go on for ages!

Hmmm, We need to talk about Kevin is a great film if you're interested in a film where you leave feeling confused and empty, as you have NO emotional connection to the main character. The perks of being a wallflower is a fav movie and book of mine, because it's a good story for those who never really fit in. (both these films have Ezra Miller in them: but in Perk's he just a side character.) Bang Bang You're Dead is a good film, dealing with the point of view of the bullied and retaliation. (And it has Randy Harrison, my queer as folk blondie love) Umm, Tick Tick Boom for the life of Jonathan Larson, someone who was a huge deal in the theater world. It's a musical, as is the 2012 Les Miserable film. Ummm, If you're not that conservvative of a person, I'd suggest South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut as well as Orgazmo. Both are written & directed & starring Matt Stone and Trey Parker, who are absouute film idols of mine. Riding in Vans With Boys which is a fun Jackass-style film about this small band that goes on tour with Blink 182 & Green Day for their pop disaster tour. Umm...I've got a lot of films I can recommend, I was a film major lol. Boy Erased was used in helping to write Gay Wieners.

Do your IRL humans know about your fandom life? If you're a creator, do they know you create? Yeah, most of my friends IRL and a few coworkers know I at least go to comic cons and stuff.

If you could do one activity with your pocket/fandom friends what would it be? Gather them all and we're gonna have a fun night all together.

Murderbot TV show thoughts

Looking over the casting choice and also who is making the murderbot TV show and I'm just not excited :/

Rambling post with lots of opinions follows....

All the queer, PoC, ace, aro, agender, non binary actors out there.... All the fascinating choices... who the hell is this. Did the people making this show even read the books, like all the characters in there are PoC. Also, executive producer? To be clear I do not know this actor at all. I am seeing posts that he does deadpan well, and speculation that exec producer roles means he's excited to do the books, which is prob good news.... but as if there's not PoC actors who are also deadpan etc etc?? Also, again repeating other tumblr posts, the effect this will have on fanart, too.

"Martha Wells will serve as consulting producer." Well I'm glad she's getting moneys, but how much influence is she going to have??

although - THIS is why you have to specify if a book character is PoC instead of being vague about it (as white authors seem want to do)! Because otherwise people (esp white people) just assume the character is white! this is just how system racism works, it's not interesting or novel, I'm just parroting what so many PoC authors have pointed out. It means that a character who describes itself in the book as a mishmash of generic human while surrounded by a lot of brown skinned humans somehow gets a casting of Alexander Skarsgård. (even if secunit was explicitly described as having brown skin or being not white in appearance, Paramount might just whitewash the character anyway, but still)

Going on..... "The Weitz brothers will write, direct, and produce under their Depth of Field banner. "

The Pinocchio movie here is a live action disney remake, not the Guillermo del Toro stop motion one. If you're like me and perked up a little, on seeing the title, because you got the Pinocchio wrong.

I guess "Rogue One" was a little interesting if depressing, idk.

The company is also linked to the movie "Prospect" (gorgeous scenery and scifi immersion and really nice soundtrack, but I found the movie rather racist and the characters lacking and I personally didn't vibe with it) and "The Farewell" which I mean to watch because people have told me they liked it.

Well, not much of this combination feels like the Murderbot books, to me, tho. I'm kind of puzzled. Like what are they getting from the books. What am I supposed to expect with "Murderbot diaries" being part of the filmography above.

Well how about the execute producers. " David S. Goyer executive produces alongside Keith Levine for Phantom Four. "

What in the hell?? Noooo! This is like the direct opposite of the core of murderbot! It's like these people skimmed the skin of space dystopian gun pew pew elements and were "yeah this is what the books are about".

Earlier, I was jokingly telling someone "I feel like these people are trying to make James Bond or the Bourne Trilogy in space or something with Murderbot, sheesh" and I fear that is in fact what is happening.

Murderbot stars an autistic agender aro ace icon character who in the 2nd book hides away in a transport watching TV shows for weeks on end or whatever and then gets called out for that by Pin-Lee in the 4th book. Murderbot and a university space ship bond over the space ship being afraid to watch its fav blorbo die in a fictional show and also the two do their best impression of trying to act like a human.

Also there's fighting and stuff.

Like, that juxtaposition is the fun of the books - like finally, the awkward get-your-gender-stuff-away-from-me a-spec neurodivergent characters have their day in bringing humanity into space dystopia pew pew gun theater. We want to play in this setting, too.

Oh and the books and SecUnit hate corporations and everyone is genderqueer with neo pronouns and polyamory abounds, and there's PoC everywhere.

From a specific hurt/comfort whump blog POV -

How are any of these main producer etc people, above, going to grasp the emotional hurt comfort and humor and warm heart of these books? The Tenderness??

Like listen, I need to be clear, I had a blast watching "Blade" with some people a few years ago. It was great. Really fun late night party movie with the right people, A+ experience. However, do I trust Call of Duty Batman vs Superman any of these people to Grasp The Murderbot Books and Handle the Tenderness. No, I Do No, not especially.

Okay fine haich slash cee, who would you cast and hire as directors producers etc. Well first of all a bunch of queer people and PoC and queer PoC. Do you know how many of us want to play in space opera dystopian explosion gunfight theater too. Also I saw someone suggest Tig Notaro play SecUnit - and honestly, that's a fun idea, I would maybe hire a bunch of comedians and also activist types to grab the dry humor and and absolute abhorrance of corporations that permeates the books.

And I'd get a more indie studio production if possible. I know there's the action sequences and special effects and all that IS important in a genre way. Like we are here for all that. We are here for death agriculture robots attacking people and violent robot fights and space kaboom moments. I personally don't immediately know how or which producers studios etc to hire for all that to be included, while keeping slightly smaller studio vibes. Yes SFX action money, but like, more in the spectrum of doctor who budget money and special effects, if that makes sense.

The gunfights and special effects are still more of a secondary feature in my mind. I want to watch the awkwardness of SecUnit and a room full of caring compassionate researchers fully hit the mark but in the most subtle way. I'm here for Ratthi once again saying "what?" in the middle of like the 5th melee situation he's been a part of and Ratthi still is confused as anything. And also, there's some explosions and space travel happening.

As for actors, I'm not really up on actors much, but these tumblr posts have suggestions.

Actually.... Ok, so I like explosions as much as anyone, but what if some small but acclaimed indie character drama creators made Murderbot. Like what if that was one specific flavor of an adaptation. What if the murderbot books were shot primarily as a quirky indie character study tv show set in space. The filmography of the people making it are like: Indie drama - Indie comedy - Murderbot - quirky indie drama - (implying they made murderbot and then went right back to indie movies I guess) I'd be like, "huh, what version of space gunfight drama are we watching here?". Idk, I think it'd be fun.

Thank you so so much for this question, I'm so excited to answer!!! I definitely have recommendations for you!!! Most of these artists have potentially triggering themes in their work, as I tend to like that and that's not uncommon in the dark cabaret world. If you want straight up steampunk that's less triggering and more fun/historical I can recommend some of that too (The Cog is Dead comes to mind) but I listen to less of that.

Some of my favorite artists in the steampunk/dark cabaret/dieselpunk/creepy circus etc world include: The Dresden Dolls (if you like them also Evelyn Evelyn and Amanda Palmer's solo work), Jill Tracy, Emilie Autumn (possibly my all time fav but a highly problematic person if that matters to you), Birdeatsbaby (their older work is more in this style than their newer stuff, esp Feast of Hammers which is apparently now under Mishkin Fitzgerald's name, but lots of their stuff is great), Bitter Ruin, Johnny Hollow, Aurelio Voltaire, Circus Contraption, The Jane Austen Argument, Sunday Driver, Pretty Balanced, and Rasputina. There are others, but this should be a solid start.

But before you go! I have one last , very very important recommendation: PAUL SHAPERA!!!!

Paul Shapera writes musicals. Exceptionally strange and wonderful musicals. They're mostly interconnected, and the first one that everyone starts with is entirely in a steampunk musical style. It's called The Dolls of New Albion: A Steampunk Opera and you should listen to it IMMEDIATELY. Not all of his work is steampunk, there's dieselpunk and cyberpunk and creepy circuses and fairypunk and everything strange and fantastical that you could possibly want. I'm constantly trying to get new people into his work, it's soooo good and fun. If you're at all into steampunk, dark cabaret, and musicals, please listen to The Dolls of New Albion and start your journey into the Shaperaverse. You won't regret it. You might get confused though; the first album is pretty straightforward esp if you read the lyrics, but later albums benefit from reading the wiki pages as well as the lyrics as you listen. It's sooo worth it though!!! Do you like steampunk? Romances? Tragedies? Horror? Musical theater? Queer stories? Stories about the power of storytelling? Interconnected worlds and fun world-based puzzles to untangle? THEN LISTEN TO PAUL SHAPERA WITH ME. Okay, that is all.

Just saw Strange World, and honestly, I only had one gripe with it. But it's also a huge one.

Disney? You didn't fucking market this thing. At all. My mom is a HUGE Disney fan and she didn't know about the movie's existence until two days ago when I showed her the trailer.

I went to a theater to see this movie. I went with my mom and one of my brothers. There were maybe around 4 or 5 other people in the entire room. That's it. And this theater isn't small by any means. It's an Emagine. It's a good place.

Sure, it's a late Wednesday night and Thanksgiving is tomorrow, but COME ON. Less than 10 people in the theater? Are you joking?

It's clear to me that this movie was poorly advertised due to its actually good and inclusive rep. An interracial couple, who has a gay teenage son. Their son being gay isn't a lil thing that's mentioned once, it's brought up multiple times and it is more than clear that the son is crushing on another boy. It's treated no different from any other relationship.

Disney, good on you for having a main character be canonically gay and have it be very clear, but also not in-your-face the whole time. You made an actually good queer character.

But Disney? Fuck you for this lack of marketing. You wanted to see this movie fail. If it does, I'll never be over it.

Either way, I'd recommend this movie. I loved watching it tonight. Definitely gonna rewatch it sometime.

i'm a junior in high school, im a virgo and an intj. i love reading and writing. i mostly write fanfic but i love writing fantasy and romance. reading is the same haha, but my most fav books/series are throne of glass by sarah j maas (ya fantasy/romance), harry potter, and the talon saga by julie kagawa (fantasy/adventure/romance). I also love theatre/acting, i'm also in my school production this year. i love marvel movies/tv shows but i havent read any of the comics yet. i love stranger things and umbrella academy. i'm pretty loud and outgoing with my friends but my social battery can run out quickly depending on how tired i am. i'm kind of timid around people i dont know. im also queer so i like all genders :)

so im wondering if i could get a ship in either marvel, stranger things, harry potter, or twilight? i'd love if i could get one in each fandom but i'd be fine with just one :)))

alice would absolutely adore you !! she loves to read everything you write and she’s the most supportive person ever. she really wants you to write about vampires. she would read all of your favorite books, especially before the start of your relationship. she sees you carrying the books around at school and she has a massive crush on you already so of course she’s going home and using carlisle’s credit card to order them !! she would absolutely drag all the cullens to watch every single one of your shows. emmett, esme, and carlisle are having the best time !! after the first three shows, edward, jasper, and rosalie want to die but they love you so they’ll watch you preform until they know your lines better than you. alice really wants to break you out of your shell a little, but if you’re not comfortable, she’ll try to let it go.

robin gets so nervous around you !! she’ll ramble and stutter and her face turns bright red everytime she talks to you. she wants to hear you talk about your favorite books and tv shows and all the stuff you’ve been writing. she loves listening to you ramble on (it makes her feel better about rambling). band kid/theater kid solidarity !! she will absolutely be sitting front row opening night !! i feel like robin can also be a little timid around people she’s not close with, so i think you guys would have that in common. you find comfort in each other when in a room full of people you don’t know.

I’ve never watched any Star Trek EVER and I have just come across Spirk for the first time thru fanfic. PLEASE what’s the best way to watch Star Trek, I basically know the crew surrounding Spirk, no other gen/crew. What’s your fav crew? Any tips for watching ?

I've only watched TOS (the original show, Kirk/Spock) and The Next Generation (Picard) so far and I love them both for different reasons:

TOS is very theater, goofy, romance, 60's social justice and queer subtext. Like a LOT of subtext (the general public didn't know about real queer culture back then so they could sneak in a lot more). They're kinda the rowdy queer kids that get into fist fights with nazis and who thinks that the law is cute, but not for them 💅

Next Gen is very Shakespeare, it's softer but more intense at the same time, there's found family, existentialism, moral dilemmas and also the social justice of their times. They're kinda like the tired but hyped on coffee queer people, who organizes their community and verbally murders pro-lifers at their rallies. Very bisexual, ace and neurodivergent.

I don't think there's a perfect way of watching the show. Personally I shot into it like a ping pong ball: first I watched the old movies (except for the first one), then started watching next Gen, then going back and watching all of TOS (for that gay shit) and then the most current movies. I've also seen the first episode of Deep Space 9 and it seems super cool!

So I say start where you're the most curious, it might be easier to understand the universe if you watch it "in order" but it's not a requirement. Also if you got into it because of Spirk i recommend TOS, there's only three seasons (compared to Next Gen's 7!!) but oh boy are they filled with gay little gems (thinking of when Spock has to fuck or fight in 8 days or he'll literally die :))))

I know you have probably gone over them, but I would love to hear more information on them if possible. How long was this their SpIn or hyperfixation?? The average length of special interests/hyperfixations is 3-5 years

Virgil infodumps with people they care about a lot. It’s a way they show they’re connected and care about someone.

Fav related thing: Stimming to music

Dee

spins/hyperfixations: philosophy, snakes, theater 

The average length of Dee’s special interests have mostly been lifelong and/or from childhood

How often they infodump: not often and usually only around really close friends basically just remy, his moms, and Virgil but it takes a longggg time for him to be comfortable infodumping to anyone 

Fav related thing: Defending snakes and philosophical debates

 Roman

spins/hyperfixations: Disney and art history 

Roman’s Disney special interest has been around for forever, but besides he often flips through special interests really quickly

Roman infodumps all the time and he communicates through infodumping a lot as well

Fav related thing: Watching and quoting disney/using disney to communicate

Patton

spins/hyperfixations: animals and animal care, the science behind light, Winnie the Pooh 

Patton’s special interests usually last a year to a few years and he generally always circles back to animals

Patton takes any chance he can get to infodump and he does it allllll the time (including infodumping to his dog)

Fav related thing: Applying their animal knowledge to Rose

Logan

spins/hyperfixations: astronomy, poetry, the ocean, chemistry, environmental science 

Lengths average about a month to a couple months 

Logan infodumps a fair amount, generally in processing of getting his point across

Fav related thing: Backyard science experiments

Emile

spins/hyperfixations: cartoons and animation, psychology, autism, Pokémon 

Emile tends have the same special interests but goes through them in cycles

Emile infodumps to his friends semi-often but avoids infodumping in front of adults, especially his parents

Fav related thing: Emile enjoys consuming knowledge/learning more about his SpIns

Remy

spins/hyperfixations: fashion, queer history, mixology/drink making, sleep, and poetry 

Lengths range from a couple months to a couple years 

Remy starts to infodump a lot without realizing and then notices he’s “talking too much” and will cut himself off and stop

Fav related thing: The intense happiness and emotions that come with engaging in your hyperfixations
