This is a welcoming community so any hate towards anyone will not be acceptable unless it’s a character that you are supposed to hate.

Everybody is all smiles for the group picture, from heroes to villains and everything in-between. Even characters who were otherwise sticks in the mud like Hank genuinely smile for the picture. Villains such as Muntz, de la Cruz, Lotso, Thunderclap and his gang, Syndrome, Evelyn, Randall, Waternoose, Hopper, Skinner, and Ercole, as much of evil psychopaths they were, are seen tenderly and respectfully singing along. Even Sid, who was a massive bully to Hannah, is seen giving her a kind brotherly embrace. Also, most movies’ main cast seem to be cramped together. Even the villains stand near their respective heroes, everyone in a healthy relationship with their families and loved ones are tenderly holding each other close, and many of the larger characters offer their bodies for the smaller ones.
Forky, Heimlich, Dory, Jack-Jack, Mater, WALL-E, and one of the triplets wave at the camera.
Dim and Wee Dingwall give the camera dopey smiles.
The egg-shaped bluebirds and the gawky bird stand perched above the entrance. The bluebirds are happy to have the gawky bird with them, a far cry from how they treated him in their short.
Sulley carries Boo tenderly in his arms. Helen does the same to Jack-Jack, as do Presto with Alec, Carl and Russell with Kevin’s babies, Elinor and Fergus with their triplet sons, Embarrassment with Envy, Massimo with Machiavelli, and Izzy with Sox.
Terri attempts to dance before his other half stops him.
Hank carries Marlin, Dory, and Nemo in a coffee pot.
Voyd and Abby giddily bounce in place, clearly the most excited for the photo.
Linguini carries Remy while Colette holds Django and Emile.
WALL-E and EVE hold the umbrellas from The Blue Umbrella.
HAN-S still can’t stay still, shaking aggressively as the photo is taken.
Kevin and her babies take the time to mimic Carl once again.
Maudie and the Clan Dingwall hunk share a loving look.
Young Macintosh flexes his pecs while giving the camera a cocky smile, the same type of smile given by characters like Terry, Darby, and Clod.
The Witch has her Crow standing perched on her shoulder.
Being stationary volcanoes, Uka and Lele are unable to leave their photo. Thankfully, they have Thunderclap and his gang to hold it so they can be in the group picture.
Nostalgia sticks her head out from behind Embarrassment, clearly hiding from the other emotions.
Riley, Grace, and Bree all carry Knick together while Riley’s parents carry the Miami and Florida knick knacks, Val and the Fire Hawks carry the Egypt, Jamaica, Palm Springs, Israel, and Death Valley knick knacks, and Coach Roberts carries Sunny Atlantis in her fish bowl.
Cindy, Son’s fiancée, winks at the camera as the photo is taken.
Machiavelli gives the camera his standard bored look.
Mei has her red hair, panda ears, and panda tail, continuing to embrace her panda.
Aaron Z gives the camera a thumbs up while Tae Young makes a heart with his hands.
Izzy gives Sox a neck scratch.
Alisha and Kiko’s inclusion also counts due to their backlash following the movie’s release.

Hello!!!
Request here
Young Loubbie is afraid to come out to Tammy, and when they do she says she already knew
Ofc!!
Thank you for the request also!
Coming Out
Tumblr media
Ship: Lou Miller x Debbie Ocean
Word count: 530+
Warnings: None
“What if she doesn’t accept us,” Debbie sighed, lying back against the couch with her hands on her head. “Honey, if shes okay knowing criminals, I’m pretty sure that she’ll be okay with knowing a few gay people too. Plus, you know Tam, she’d be ecstatic that we’ve told her,” Lou tries to reassure her, sitting down next to her and holding her hand. “Okay maybe,” Debbie doesn’t seem convinced. “I’m nervous too Debs, but all we have to do is try to keep calm about it, stress isn’t going to make anything better,” Lou kisses her head before standing up to make a drink.
“Where the hell is she, I told her to be here 15 minutes ago,” Debbie huffed, getting restless. “I’m sure that she’s just stuck in traf-,” Lou is cut off by the door opening and Tammy standing in it. “I’m so sorry! The traffic was horrendous,” Tammy’s announced. Lou looked at Debbie and mouthed, “I told you”.
“Hey Tam!” Lou says back. “Want a drink?” Lou goes to grab another glass out the cupboard. “Not for me, but thanks Lou,” Tammy sits down, next to Debbie. She can see shes quieter than usual. “You okay?” She asks, making sure Lou doesn’t hear. “Yeah great,” she says unconvincingly. “Hmm okay,” she lets it go and gives Debbie a quick side hug. Lou sits down with her drink and places it down. “So, Debs and I invited you over to talk about something,” Lou begins. “You’re not planning another heist are you,” Tammy sighs, beginning to stress already. “God no, I’ve barely started planning,” Debbie smirks and lets Lou continue.
“So we’ve been worried to tell you this, because we don’t know your reaction, but Debbie and I, we’re together,” Lou finally tells Tammy. “Oh guys thats great! I did already know though,” she smiles at both of them. A “what?” comes out of both of them before looking at eachother confused. “Well, you haven’t really been secret about it. Me and Amita have conspired as to what’s going on between you two.”
“How did you know,” Lou asks, genuinely curious as to how she knew. “Seriously? The lingering touches, cute smiles at eachother, cuddling ALL the time, and the eyes,” Tammy finishes. “What ‘eyes’?” Debbie asked, confused. “You know, THE eyes,” Tammy tries to explain. Debbie shakes her head still not knowing, Lou is sitting back and watching the whole thing happen. “The.. bedroom eyes,” she says in quietly, as if embarrassed. “Oh, that makes sense,” Lou adds, saving Tammy. “Yeah it’s you usually giving them,” Tammy adds. “Wha- I do nothing Tam,” Lou gets defensive, knowing Tammy’s right. Tammy laughs and gets up, “I’m quickly going to the bathroom, don’t be banging whilst I’m gone.” “I’ll try,” Debbie inputs.
“Baby, come over here,” Debbie suggests, tapping the spot next to her. Lou quickly moves over and falls into a cuddle with her. “Are you glad we told her?” Lou asked. “Very, even though she already knew,” Debbie laughed. “I don’t know what ‘eyes’ shes even talking about,” Lou acts innocent. “I think you know fine well Lou Miller,” Debbie kisses the top of Lou’s head and smiles.

Prom Night (1980) is one of six horror films in which Jamie Lee Curtis appeared over a three-year span from 1978 to 1981 and the last covered by the Grue-Crew. Three John Carpenter films (Halloween, The Fog, Halloween II) and Prom Night are joined by Road Games and Terror Train.
Prom Night is not the best of Curtis’s 1978-1981 six-pack of horror movies (does that go without saying?), but is it the worst? Leslie Nielsen, soon to go through his transformation to a standout comedic actor, has little to do as Curtis’s character’s father and the school’s principal. There’s also the student body providing fodder for the killer, the creepy kids that set the whole thing in motion fifteen years earlier, and athe disco music and dancing. Don’t worry. The Grue Crew will give you the straight poop.
At the time of this writing, Prom Night is available to stream from Shudder, Amazon Prime, Peacock, Hoopla, Kanopy, Tubi, PlutoTV, and Freevee. It is also available on physical media as a Blu-ray formatted disc from Synapse Films.
Every two weeks, Gruesome Magazine’s Decades of Horror 1980s podcast will cover another horror film from the 1980s. The next episode’s film, chosen by Chad, will be Ghost Story (1981), based on Peter Straub’s 1979 novel! The Grue-Crew has been wanting to do this one for a long time! If you heard them announce Without Warning (1980) on the podcast, they apologize for the change, but it is on the schedule for November. Be patient, fellow babies.
Please let them know how they’re doing! They want to hear from you – the coolest, grooviest fans – so leave them a message or comment on the Gruesome Magazine Youtube channel, on the Gruesome Magazine website, or email the Decades of Horror 1980s podcast hosts at [email protected].
Check out this episode!

Dear Logan, would you please write about Debbie or Lou having a black eye or a visual injury like that and the rest of the crew is super worried and planning revenge until they get them to confess they got hurt because they fell while having sex
Tumblr media
“So,” Constance smirked, taking a fierce bite of her pizza, crust first as Tammy looked on in disgust before putting her head in her hands, mumbling something about how this loft was supposed to be her escape from home and motherhood. “Are we just gonna ignore the bear in the room?”
“Elephant, dear,” Rose murmured, caught up in the sewing project on her lap, salad from dinner still untouched in front of her.
“Shit. What?” Constance jumped up, the pizza slice dangling dangerously from her mouth before it fell directly on the table, Tammy letting out a frustrated growl.
“That’s the expression, Con,” Nine laughed. “Elephant, dude. No bear. And if you talkin’ ‘bout dad’s eye, I also want the scoop. Lemme guess, other guy looks worse?”
The blonde rolled her eyes, mumbling something, before purposely taking a long sip of her drink to stall the answer to the question, but Amita caught Debbie blushing. Daphne caught on immediately.
“I think,” Daphne grinned, putting her napkin down on her lap. “There is no other guy at all and our answer rather lays with the other woman. Deb?”
“Don’t,” Lou warned, glaring at Daphne before she took her partner’s hand in her own, the two of them sharing one of their silent looks.
“I’m going to regret asking this,” Tammy sighed. “But I take it this wasn’t another volume to add to the infamous collection of Lou Miller bar fights? And that certainly isn’t a bike injury.”
“End it, Tam,” Debbie grumbled. “Anyone want dessert?” She tried, tugging at Lou’s hand as she made to stand. “We can go grab some ice cream and bring it back.”
“Or better yet, why don’t you lot go and spend our easy earned money?” Lou suggested, laying a crisp stack of hundred dollar bills in the middle of the table.
“I’m not even going to ask about those,” Tammy shook her head. “I don’t want to know. I’m not part of this life anymore.”
“Aw,” Nine chuckled. “Sure you are, mama. It might still be a soccer mom van, but you can’t pretend it ain’t top of the line. You tellin’ me your toddler needs bluetooth capability, a personal tv and  a personal cooler inches from his carseat?”
Tammy shut her mouth at that and it was obvious that both Lou and Debbie were grateful for the distraction, attempting to sneak away.
“Hold up!” Daphne yelled, physically stopping Debbie with a perfectly manicured fingernail to the collarbone. “Looks like the other guy may not look worse, but she’s far from innocent. Care to explain this?” She motioned to the purple-blue bruise on Debbie’s shoulder that was now peeking out of her blouse that had shifted when she stood.
“We don’t need to explain ourselves to you,” Lou huffed. “Take the cash. And get out.”
“Not the first time we heard that, dad,” Constance snorted.
“Can we just cut to the chase here?” Amita asked. “We all know it’s a sex thing. It practically always is. I just hoped it would die down once they were married.”
“Keep dreaming, Mita,” Tammy exhaled.
“Who was on top?” Constance asked through another mouthful of pizza.
“New position?” Daphne clucked. “I mean you two are starting to get up there. Think they make some sort of sex aid that’ll keep you feeling young?”
“If you must know,” Debbie snapped, separating herself from the blonde as she whipped around to face Daphne. “I accidentally elbowed my wife in the face and gave her a black eye.”
“Naked,” Nine coughed.
“Hot,” Constance provided.
“Actually, I bought Deb this little black leather—“
“Stop! Stop! Dear god, I beg of you,” Tammy complained, sticking her fingers in her ears.
“And the shoulder bruise?” Rose asked timidly, earning several wide eyes and smirks from the crowd.
“Sometimes lube is just really…” Lou searched for the word.
“Slippery,” Debbie smirked, locking eyes with the blonde as they grinned.
“We can just blame Isaac Newton and the power of sex toys for that one,” Lou winked, turning back to the group. “Now can we get back to eating pizza like a normal group of criminals or do I have to start throwing people out on the street to find other criminal foster parents for their adult selves because Deb and I would be more than happy to cash you out for a new batch of kids.”
“Like hell you would,” Nine grinned.
“Wait, we can have more siblings?” Constance screamed.

CD REVIEW: JONATHAN POSTAL ~ ALL THE BOYS ON ST.MARK'S PLACE (2023)
Just released (14 July, 2023) and here's the RUNNING ORDER: Floating World, The Wrong Man, Send It C.O.D., Nurse Debbie, Get Used To The Fact, Fallen Angel, Living In The Movies, Angry Young Men, Love Me Or Leave Me Alone, You Were There, The Architect, The Girl in the Glass Cage, Shut Up, This Ain’t Love, Mistaken For Love, The Gift, Don’t Get Excited, Secrets of the Heart AND Nobody’s Fool.
Eighteen punk period tracks, 1980 - 1983, from "The Man Who Shot Rock", and JONATHAN shot it so well from both sides, as lead singer and professional photographer.
New York born POSTAL studied photography in San Francisco and now lives in Memphis, so he gets around, an all-American boy, (then) leading The Readymades - a snippet from a 1978 interview reveals the reason for the band name:
“We chose the name Readymades because we are using something that has already existed. Musically and culturally, we can’t come up with something totally new, because the notes have already been written, all the words have been used. All you can do is come up with different juxtapositions. We’re using stuff that’s already there. Therefore it’s ‘readymade’.”
Credit for above quote: San Francisco underground music (liberationhall.com)
Other artists JONATHAN POSTAL has played with are also on the CD, namely The Odds, The Gift and Bart Lewis of Smashed Gladys.
Hearing this great new wave is refreshing as the original material evokes Blondie ('Floating World') to The Byrds ('Nurse Debbie') and Lou Reed ('Angry Young Men') to The Cars ('The Architect'). You'll hear other influences in the mix, I'm sure. Although, as it seems to me, that distinctive Ryan Adams guitar sound may have sprung free from, 'The Gift', so it works both ways!
The only cut that didn't lash me into submission was, 'The Wrong Man', but overall I had to get used to the fact that there's so much going on this brilliant album that it is just an exciting listen from start to finish.
Rating: 9/10

The hills! The hills! Look beyond the hills, there are rivers wide, there are whip-poor-wills The hills! The hills! Look beyond the hills, To that home we will build in the meadow.
Come, Come There's a wondrous land For the hopeful heart, for the willing hand Come, Come There's a wondrous land Where I'll build you a home in the meadow

Complete Confidence
“So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith (complete confidence) in God that it will be exactly as it was told me;” Acts 27:25AMPC
Lou and I recently visited with great-grand number fifteen and his parents, in their cute little home. While chatting I asked my young granddaughter-in-love if she liked doilies. She said, ‘why? Do you know someone who makes doilies?’
I asked her, if she would like to have a doily and what color, while telling her I make doilies. She responded she’d love to have a white doily. ‘Okay then, I’ll make you one,’ I replied.
Immediately, her eyes went to different places in her living room— trying to place the doily she didn’t yet have. Then she profusely thanked me for making a doily for her. I learned spiritual lessons at that moment. ***How many times do we see, start using, and become grateful for something before we get it? For this is what true faith is. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” Hebrews 11:1NKJV. It mattered little as to how long we’ve known each other, or how worthy she considered my word. She believes I’m worthy of believing. ***How wonderful is it to get something we would like to have but don’t believe is possible to have? She never thought to ask me to make her a doily, because she didn’t have any idea that I can crochet doilies. It was out of her reach. Don’t we also neglect to ask God for things because we don’t think He would possibly consider to give us this one little thing? “…You do not have, because you do not ask” James 4:2ESV.
My Bible tells me— —“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,” Ephesians 3:20ESV. Yet, do I believe, do we believe that He will do even the littlest of things for us? —“And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:19ESV. Do we quit believing He’ll meet our need because it’s not in our hands immediately? —“Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things He does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases” Psalm 103:2-3NLT. Have we quit praising Jesus for forgiving our sins and healing us because the manifestation of healing wasn’t immediate? —“Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness, To deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine” Psalm 33:18-19AMPC. Are we knowingly dependent upon Him? He’s watching for the needy and dependent people to take care of them.
“…Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” Luke 18:8ESV. Our Lord and God is seeking for those of us who will keep on believing and receiving with “complete confidence” that God can’t and won’t fail us. Are you one of those who will have faith? It’s your choice. You choose.
LET’S PRAY: Holy God, give us the youthful wonder and confidence we need so desperately to refill us and restore the faith which once burned so brightly in our hearts, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Debbie Lou now and she's pestering her son big time lately and she's going to go down. She's the one online talking about cartoons and it's not Sherry and he had him in the office in order to fire him and we can't stand it anymore we do not want you to hire him at all because you're going to just lay him off and we don't want to listen to your s*** you're just a bunch of f****** running around yeah I live in crackling he said the cut off the motor centers if they do it and they kept doing it and doing it a few and we had to and it would not stop yeah they stopped they look kind of tired so they just sit there they look catatonic and just sit there for some silly structure not included in an estimate was blaming him, how to make the stupid noise had him make a stupid noise in a dream she's forcing in us to have him do that he's sitting there saying I didn't do yesterday it was Bouchard, and she said there was no budget for it and something to the other guy so she's a lying sack of s*** and should have punched your head off and kicked it off the building and yours and what wall are you talking about you idiot so she's sitting there wondering what's going on and she heard it and said it's this wall here and there's a wall out there I'll see her trying to ride got to see that and I already fighting over it and she said no they don't have it in the budget yeah no s*** that's the same thing and you're an idiot by the way always asking the same questions about bunkers who cares where the spoils are they don't do this for doing because of clones and she had to look into it cuz she didn't know about it and yeah she didn't know a lot of stuff started looking into it and got in trouble so didn't give me a warning or anything that I set her up of course you end upsetting everybody up against them and he smiles and says this looks like a problem Max thought it was your joy it has part new brainer and he started spazzing out and said I see how dangerous it is it doesn't matter I said yeah we're going to use up a lot of people and she has got in trouble already but they still need you and how the hell you supposed to interpret that he says this you went over there okay isn't working progress and he said why they train that way from birth a lot of them are young they went oh no. To find out he found out that she hired him to fire him and went to town on that stupid b**** and she's threatening his prostate and they said what can we really do so I don't know it's probably more than just her so she's an idiot you can tell she can't he betrayed his thoughts she's going to have a reminder but he said all the enough he has to do the same thing it's very difficult here in Florida and California it's strange areas he says that the clouds burn off here and they burn off in California and it don't in the Midwest it's sort of have to look into that.. we know why that happens and it's because it's where the ocean meets land and it's dry on the land you think it would wick to the land it creates like a moisture barrier and the moisture falls and usually causes mist that's most of it recently there are other causes and they're quite dangerous meanings of monsters are coming back and that's what you're feeling so there's a huge pile of things on top of him and he needs to be oxygenated and we need to stop fooling around with this in missiles for these imbeciles they're too dumb to know anything and they die like leaves on a tree so we have to do something the ships have to move in other words and we have to do that ourselves these people will never lift it and the idiots have to remove from those rings and these guys might do that but then they have to be stopped and the clones will do that and we'll instruct them to and the empire a little bit and we're moving out

"The Old Settler" (2001) is a made-for-television drama aired on PBS. Debbie Allen directed the movie, and Shauneille Perry wrote the screenplay. The film is an adaptation of John Henry Redwood's 1998 play under the same title. Allen stars in a film with her sister Phylicia Rashad for the first time. They worked together previously in the films "Polly" and "Polly Comin' Home," but Allen only directed while Rashad starred in the film. Allen and Rashad's natural sisterly bond provided excellent chemistry for their characters, mainly because the film's premises involved the relationship between the two sisters.
In the film, an 'old settler' was a saying in the 1940s that meant a woman approaching 40, unmarried, with no prospects. Elizabeth (Rashad) is the landlord of a young man from the South who came to Harlem searching for his beloved (Crystal Fox), that ran off. However, Husband (Bumper Robinson) begins to court Elizabeth, and the relationship between them evolves much to the disagreement of Elizabeth's sister Quilly (Allen).
Historically, PBS televised stageplays and films adapted from novels. "The Old Settler" is similar to some of the plays aired in the 1970s. A film between a mother and daughter called "Sty of the Blind Pig" (1974) has a familiar sentiment as "The Old Settler." Both plays examine the life positions of middle-aged black women who try to find love in their life. The films are genuine in their attempts to convey their messages, and the actors do an excellent job capturing your attention.
"The Old Settler" is a masterclass in acting and storytelling. It's a worthy film to explore, with many layers to analyze. I recommend this movie for viewing.
Director: Debbie Allen Writer: Shauneille Perry
Starring Phylicia Rashad, Debbie Allen, Bumper Robinson, Crystal Fox, Bebe Drake, Ella Joyce, Paul Mooney, Randy J. Goodwin, Steven Smith, Michael Ralph, Steven Smith
Storyline Quilly (Allen) has separated from her husband and has moved in with her unwed sister Elizabeth (Rashad), an "old settler." Quilly is dismayed that her sister has rented a room in their apartment to a handsome young man named Husband Witherspoon (Bumper Robinson), who has traveled from South Carolina in search of his sweetheart Lou Bessie (Crystal Fox). Unable to fit into Lou's fast-paced lifestyle, he courts Elizabeth, who is much older, causing tension between the two sisters.

idk if you have done this yet but: The crew doesn't know Lou an Deb are married or even together (Except for Tam of course) and basically they start putting the little things together like how they sleep in the same room or always touch each other in that way; They start debating if they really could be a couple and Tammy finds out what they are all talking about an starts laughing and says "their married for fucks sake." :)
Tumblr media
The loft was quiet until the sound of Lou revving her bike’s engine permeated the air and the group burst into conspiracy theories.
“They’ve gotta be boning right?” Nine asked. “I mean they’re always eye fucking.”
“Boning? Don’t be so crass,” Amita gasped. “But no. They can’t keep their hands off each other.”
“And boss only has eyes for dad,” Constance grinned. “I mean we’re invisible when she pitches an idea.”
“We should get them together!” Rose cheered. “They’d be so lovely together, don’t you think? They’re clearly pining for reach other.”
“Wait,” Daphne snorted. “You don’t even think they’re together?”
“Maybe the Fuck,” Constance provided, with a mouth full of chips. “But I’ve never seen ‘em date. And you know Lou has to be chivalrous as hell.”
“Didn’t know you knew the word chivalrous,” Daphne wrinkled her nose.
“When would they have time to go on a date?” Amita squeaked. “In between robbing the Met gala? I mean they’ve been a little busy.”
“We’ve had time to eat pizza, they could go on a date, Mita,” Nine rolled her eyes. “But I don’t think either-a them do relationships. Picture Deb in the suburbs.”
“Picture Lou picking up some toddler in a motorcycle with a sidecar,” Daphne grinned.
“Oh! Here’s the expert!” Rose called, as Tammy came into the room, pocketing her phone.
“Sorry, I had to talk the husband through getting the kids to bed. You know how it is,” Tammy sighed. She was only met with blank stares. “On second thought, none of you know how it is. Right. Anyway. What are we talking about?”
“You used to run jobs with Lou and Deb right?” Amita asked. “Back in the day?”
“Back in the day?” Tammy grimaced. “In what, the 1920s?”
“You know what we mean, Tam. You were a fence for them. Right? Like when you were all—“
“Constance,” Tammy sighed. “If you finish that sentence with the word young, I swear—“
“Can we just get on with the question?” Daphne exhaled, looking bored. “The fact is, you know them Tammy. Are they fucking?”
“Wh-what?” Tammy laughed, practically choking. “I mean isn’t it obvious?”
“That they want to fuck? Well, yeah,” Nine chuckled. “But are they?”
“Like wouldn’t they make a great couple?” Amita asked. “Rose thinks we should set them up.”
“Oh, you guys are too much,” Tammy laughed, her eyes starting to tear as she clapped her hands together. “This is amazing.”
“Don’t say we’re crazy! There’s a spark!” Constance shouted, sputtering chip crumbs everywhere.
“Of course there is, you morons,” Tammy laughed, clutching at her ribs. “They’re MARRIED. I mean for fuck’s sake. Come on. Isn’t it obvious?”
“Obvious?!?” Amita screeched. “How is it obvious? Since when?”
“Then where is Lou going? I thought she said she had plans,” Daphne smirked. “Shouldn’t she be spending time with her wife? Debbie, allegedly?”
“She’s meeting Debbie,” Tammy rolled her eyes, finally catching her breath. “For dinner. Out. You know, because they’re married. For like a decade in June.”
“A DECADE!” Rose shouted. “Well, I thought they’d make a fit couple.”
“I can’t wait to tell them this,” Tammy shook her head. “
“Well then what else don’t we know?” Daphne asked, scanning the room. “Who else is fucking?”

The Adventures of David Dashiki- Happy Women’s Empowerment Month from Debbie Dashiki
Tumblr media
Congratulations to all sisters in the struggle
I seize this moment to give some well - deserved ‘shoutouts’ to those sisters who claim the power and have been using it with dignity, confidence, valor and foresight all year. In unity, there is strength. However, you don’t have to wait to act. We have always been spontaneous. That is the beauty of us. Cute...Unpredictable...Sweet...and Devilish...Some females just never got the memo. Well Sisters I’m here to tell you today, in the words of Maya., “ YOU ARE PHENOMENAL !”
My first ‘shout out ‘ goes  to the receptionist at that hospital in Harlem who refused to give an appointment for my endoscopy because she said that the price was too high. “ Look, Sister. I would not pay that price AND I WORK HERE. This hospital receives a lot of money. It certainly does not need yours. Let those rich white people pay. Besides, they shouldn’t be coming here anyway. They should go to their private physician at their private hospital. Here’s what you do...”
She directed me through the right channels and I guess I used my insurance. I never paid a cent out of my own pocketbook. In fact, THE PROCEDURE WAS COMPLETED AND i NEVER WAS ASKED FOR PAYMENT FROM ANYBODY. Thank you my sister.
The above was really my second shout out. My primary was dedicated to Marie Brathwaite, my mother. She was a constant source of love, guidance and affection to me. She never changed her sentiments, belief or thoughts that I was her pride and joy. She made me happy beyond measure. We spent much of our time together in silence. She looked at me with exceptional approval and I marveled at her beauty which never faded.  Age? That was for other people. The moments, which are indelibly etched in my mind and heart , were those of ‘homework time’. I would be seated at the dining room table with books scattered everywhere. She would drag the ironing board into that room to be close to me. Each time she would utter the same words, “ What are you doing?  I would stretch a little, raise my head from the papers and just shout out,             “ Homework, Ma!” Her answer was always that smile of approval. It was all I needed. I would work hours on end for that smile. There was a kiss in it.... an embrace, a snuggle, a cuddle with ice cream on top. My favorite...Butter-Pecan. I loved her for that.
Here is the list of women to whom I present my shoutouts. They are the inspiration, motivation, wisdom, excellence, genius, vision, joy, happiness, strength, fortitude, zeal, comfort, oracles, exhilaration, advisers, directors, counselors, gurus, genies, pilots, standards and loves of my life.
ANGELA DAVIS  ( will someone please arrange a meeting with Angela and me.) LENA HORNE, ( Wow ! Did I admire her class and style),  SHIRLEY CHISOLM, FANNIE LOU HAMER, MISTY COPELAND, MICHELLE OBAMA, JUNIE SAUNDERS, MARIANNE FERGUSON, SERENA WILLIAMS, LIZZO, VIOLA DAVIS, KAMALA HARRIS, REGINA KING, LENA WAITHE, SHONDA RHIMES, STACEY ABRAMS...KAREN CLEMENTS ROACH ( a sister whose heart is as big as the moon)
I recall affectionately my first out of home or residence encounter with an empowering woman. I was one of those early schoolers who hated reading...I hated reading with a passion. On one particular day, my official classroom teacher took us on a trip to the library. The class was enthralled. The pupils  actually murmured  favorably about the room and the unbelievable number of books there were...and such a variety of themes, colors, pictures. They roamed the library in awe. There was one who was not at all excited about the experience. There was of course the movies. To me the cine was much more realistic. and, it had popcorn... The librarian was curious about this young student who did not enjoy her library. She sought her out and questioned her.for several  minutes on her distaste for the books she loved so dearly. During the cross examination, the little genius made known to her librarian hat she loved fashion. The next morning, she arrived at school to discover a box  wrapped in colored paper on her desk ,She ripped open the package and there inside was a book with a cute Black girl on the front cover. It was a story about a girl who was a natural artist and was a sweetheart who adored clothes, anything about fashion, style and glamour She started to look through the pages and could not put it down. There was also a note inside..’ If you would other books on the same topic just leave the book you now have in the return box outside of the library.’ And that she did. After 2 months , this student who despised books was the most accomplished reader in her class. I do not know where Ms. Librarian is today. I do not know whether or not she is alive. I just want to say thank you to this empowered woman who empowered.me to uncover  and appreciate a love for books.  I love you and will never forget your kindness and friendship for me. You changed my life.
There are so many empowered, blessed and anointed women who did not make my list. I empower you reader to do your own.
HOLD ON A MINUTE...My husband, Daddy Dashiki asked that I include his Latin teacher , Mrs. Sophie Pasternak. He went to Boys High in Brooklyn. Sophie, as they addressed her without her permission, loved her class. It was to her the United Nations . Students from the entire planet were enrolled , from Armenia, Germany, Italy, Japan, Israel, Ireland and Brooklyn. She encouraged us not to  become discouraged by the rigorous curriculum , “You will reap the benefits one day...And, you will call out my name. “That was little solace then,. We had long nights grappling with hours of translation while our classmates were outside playing ball. She continued with the motivation.
You are reading Latin works of literature, art and history. But, you are reading them in the original. You will express yourself more articulately. Your knowledge base will be profound. AND, In years to come, you will visit these strange places...YOU WILL CALL OUT MY NAME.  Many years later, I was standing on the Cliffs of Dover in England. Walking the lands of which Juluis Caesar spoke. All I could utter was, “ DAMN YOU, SOPHIE!”
