Hello dear Gerec! So, I'm new to the Cherik fandom (I know, I know...), and I'm extraordinarily delighted do see the immense amount of fics in existence. Actually I'm now a bit overwhelmed, I just want to read everything, all at once :-D Would you be so kind and recommend some great fics for a newcomer to start with? I like almost any kinds on tropes, as long there isn't too much angst, smut is OK. I love lengthier fics as well, like up to 200k words. Thank you and I love your tumblr!

Hello Anon and welcome! It's never too late to join a new (or old fandom) and I think you will find that there are still lots of people actively writing Cherik/X-Men fics :D

I've previously posted a reply to a similar question here, and I hope you'll find it useful! I would also suggest that you do some simple searches on ao3 using a few filters that narrow things down to your personal interests - i.e. canon fic, fix-it fic, regency aus, modern aus etc. and sort by kudos/hits and just start digging in. And, for any fics you read that you really enjoy, don't forget to go through that author's repertoire because there's a good chance you'll find other gems there to love!

Hopefully this gives you enough to get started. Feel free to come back for more recs once you've gotten a better taste of all the brilliant fics this fandom has to offer!!!

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. i genuinely dont care if the creation of all media comes to a screeching halt btw i will very gladly live with no new movies no new tv shows no new anything for years if that's what it takes for the people who create them to be treated like human beings. i hope every other facet of the entertainment industry goes on strike too and i hope all the ones that havent unionised yet will. i want media creation to become completely impossible and i want the people who could make it possible again to hold out until they get every single thing they want. btw

assorted thoughts: caterina is fully 'korean' or whatever the thedas equivalent would be in this design, and clawed her way to the top of the crow food chain after years of work. their armor is something caterina forcibly incorporated to distinguish house dellamorte from the other crows, and a symbol of their status because they get it custom made or imported. of course race-equivalents do not really exist in thedas or this world but i also will never forget how gaider just implied (east) asian people don't exist in thedas because it just so happens that there are no asians on the continent of thedas (guy who forgot about boats) . explode and die. there's not the same kind of discrimination as exists irl ofc (and the dellamortes are actually treated fine, much better than a mage or elf) but a level of xenophobia against foreigners from a different continent. illario looks the least like her, and passes for being fully antivan, which changes how he is recieved by the other crows.

ngl, not really! I never really looked into their lore much outside what we get from MSQ if I'm being honest, and I haven't even done all the ShB role quests hdjkfgjhd It's not that I don't care about them, I just end up getting distracted and focusing on other stuff.

Though I do headcanon that if Ardbert were still alive at this point, he and Yllis would get up to untold levels of trouble.
