One time a few years ago when I had food poisoning I was trapped in bed all day, obviously feeling terrible not wanting to move but not really able to sleep, so I read fanfiction the whole time, specifically John Hancock fallout fanfiction and I did that until I felt better.

And then like a year after that I had another stomach bug thing, and I remembered last time while I was waiting it out and looked up Hancock fanfiction again and read it again until I was better.

And I have endo, so often I have waves of nausea where I gotta just go lie down and wait it out. And to distract myself I ended up always going and reading John Hancock fanfic.

And anyways, I Just had a couple days where I was busy and missed some sleep, messed my body up a bit and got hit with a wave of dizzy/nausea, first thing I do is rush to google and open up the John Hancock ao3 tab and felt immediately better just seeing the Title Page.

And then realised what I'd done on instinct, didn't even go for the nausea pills I have in my bag, a calming tea, a water or anything😭 Just right to the Mayor of Goodneighbour, what do ya think of that pavlov😭

So anyways, thank you Mr mayor, I'm sorry I hardwired my body to associate you with illness, please keep granting me RAD immunity

I kinda like the small yet big detail in the game, like I'm sure myself and some other people were expecting a wholesome dating sim that would also get quite spicy (FROM HOW WE KNOW MERU)

And we all just kinda got kicked in the butt, like Starling being too hot to be true yet so terrifying at the same time, but not the terrifying kind that we know, like Micah or Silas etc

More like the type that makes you forget that he still is more a siren than a merman, like he successfully managed to lure in the whole community with his hot ass😭😭and then we get backstabbed by him munching our fingers off as if they're some carrots, like as a simple lunch snack-💀💀

Or in the other ending where it's basically simply Mae dying and getting turned into a possession and probably just another body to fill up with tongues

From my interpretation, Starling doesn't really have that kind of romantic interest in Mae, but she kinda thought it could go into that direction, but then got stabbed in the back like that😭😭(probs everyone who played it, thought like Mae there too kinda💀so we all got the betrayal🙁)

And you guys did a really good job in simply catching us all off guard in most scenes, it's it's beautifully written and drawn, I love that game so much!!!

Honestly maybe Sel would give a different answer but I do think Starling likes Maelyn. Due to his past and what he has now become his way of showing it is probably different, but for Starling I don't think Maelyn is just another body for storing tongues. If that was the case he wouldn't have went out of his way to clean her body up, find a wedding dress and "marry" her in his own makeshift way.

He probably didn't even view it as a betrayal. Because until the very end Starling was making sure the no longer breathing Maelyn could be comfortable in her pearl necklace.

For the writing style, probably Sel writing the story played a big part in this.

Sel and I have very similar tastes in a lot of things, on levels I myself can't believe sometimes. But we do have a different style at how we depict similar concepts.

I love presenting dark stories on a silver platter. Prettied up with the most delicious icings and shiniest sprinkles. I like my stories and characters to look beautiful. Enjoy them while thinking you're just having whimsy adventures only to realize you're done for once you truly look. Like Silas. It's easy to make fun of him, forget the things he is capable of doing as you're too busy enjoying his silliness. He feels safe, a gentle giant who loves and takes care of you.

But he's still a man who has forced himself on you not only physically but also mentally. Trapped and limited you beyond belief. No electricity, no internet, no contact with anyone other than him. Only talking to him, only feeling him, only knowing him, only consuming him. A beautiful and sweet man no human mind can handle for more than a few weeks.

But Sel, from what I've seen, is a bit different. She doesn't shy away from showing the darkness and scariness of the stories she makes. Before you even know it you'll be facing concepts you didn't think could be possible.

And not only that, she hides so much under every word she uses. Often times the things she places in front of you are not even the scariest parts. The more you read and the more you decipher they get deeper.

I'm frankly a big fan of the things she writes. They often leave me flabbergasted (and mortified, she knows what I mean) but they are also so so fun. So scary yet beautifully poetic.

I know she doesn't like being under the spotlight that much. But ever since I met her and saw her stories I wanted more people to get the chance to see and appreciate them the way they deserved. I think they are truly special, and they make me want to do my best to illustrate them in the perfect way possible.

Honestly I'm not sure if I'm good enough at it, but if it helps the stories reach more people I'm happy with it.

I don't know if she'll read this post so that's why I'm being sappy like this but I genuinely hope you guys like her stories like I do. And I hope both you and I can see more and more of it.

"Just look at you!!!" Jack left the bar, staggering and laughing, along with his friend and rival, Yami. "You're too drunk and you've lost all your money and clothes.”

"What about you? You're talking about me when you're worse than me, you beanpole!!" Yami pointed out to his friend who was equally naked and drunk.

"I'm sure Y/n will put you on the couch tonight, she won't like knowing that you arrived late and in this condition"

"What are you saying? My dear Y/n loves me and she wouldn't do that.” Yami frowned

"No? You're quite convinced!!"

"And you're jealous because you're single but well, who would fall in love with an asshole like you?" Yami laughed loudly at the other captain

"What? Know that I don't have trouble finding someone. I'm just oblivious to it."

"Yeah, yeah, I'm going to pretend I believe it," Yami tried to light a cigarette but the lighter wasn't giving off any light. "Damn, why doesn't this shit light up?!!" He grumbled, giving a sigh of frustration.

He kept the lighter, keeping the cigarette at the corner of his lips as he walked back to the black bulls' HQ, leaning on Jack.

You were sitting in the armchair where he usually sat, while you waited for him to arrive from another one of his nights out. You heard voices outside and laughter and assumed it was him.

"Damn, don't you know how to open a door properly?!" Jack said after Yami kicked the front door and entered

You got up and stood with your arms crossed, looking at your completely naked and drunk husband and his friend who was also naked, but only covered with the cloak.

"Oh, you are there, my beautiful wife!!"Yami went to you even after seeing your serious look and hugged you for a moment. You gave a long sigh seeing all that joy, he was quite drunk. “I missed you so much, baby.”He said, taking the cigarette out of his lips and distributing a ton of kisses all over your face

"Tch, look at her serious face!! I don't think these kisses are working on her, looks like you messed up, Captain Yami!"Jack laughed and you approached him, making him shut up for a moment

"Captain Jack, I thank you for bringing my husband home after a night of drinking. Now, get out!" You ordered

"It looks like I wasn't the only one who messed up..." Yami smiled at his friend and the other chuckled

"Fine, I'll be on my way. Have a good night, you drunkard!!"Jack looked at his friend and then at you, before leaving

As soon as the other captain left, you turned to face Yami and he gave you a playful smile. You can't help but smile when you see the unlit cigarette on his lips, he was probably so drunk that he didn't even care about it.

"Where have you been, Yami?" You asked, changing your expression to something softer now, taking the cigarette from his lips and put it aside

"I uhm...I've been drinking a few drinks but there were only a few, believe me!" He tried to hide it but seeing how he was stinking of alcohol, there weren't a few

“A few, you say…”

"What about our boys? Where are they?" He asked, whispering in your ear and leaving a small trail of kisses from your neck to your shoulder

"They're sleeping, after drinking too much again." You said holding onto his forearms while pulling him away from you

"My brats are looking more and more like me" He chuckled

"Where are your clothes at?" You looked at his naked body

"I...I lost them in a gamble."He scratched the back of his head and you shook your head, smiling

"Again?"

"Yes, again."

"Come on, let's go to bed." You extended your hand to him and he gave you a mischievous smile

“And why don’t you take off your clothes too? That way, we wouldn't waste any more time, princess." He laughed smugly, trying to hug you but you slapped his chest and walked away from him."Sheesh! You're cold, babe!"He pouted and you smiled

"And you're being cheeky when I'm just trying to help you."

"Cheeky? I've never heard you complain about me being cheeky." He replied and you rolled your eyes. "Now, where is the damn bathroom again?" He said looking around, so drunk that he didn't even recognize his own HQ

"You're going to take a shit, aren't you?" You looked at him with a chuckle

"No, I just drank too much beer and now I need to take a big piss."He said

"I'll take you there, then." You held his hand and took him there

The walk from the living room to the bathroom seemed longer than usual, due to the way he stumbled with every step and also because of his dirty talk and his playful teasing to you. Nothing you weren't already used to. You just smiled at him and little did you know that it was that smile that motivated him to do even worse.

When you finally got to the bathroom, you opened the door for him and he went in so he could take the big piss he was talking about.

You were leaning against the wall waiting for the captain to come out, he opened the door and looked at you.

"You finished?" You asked

"Yeah, the biggest piss I've ever taken," He stretched, then yawned. "I really wanted to take a nap right now."

"It's been a long night already…" You caressed his arm and he nodded. "Let's get some sleep."

When you entered the bedroom, he threw himself on the bed and sighed heavily against the pillow. You approached the bed and sat down, staying next to him.

"I miss you so much.” He murmured as he lay down on his back on the mattress

"You had already said that before, you know?" You smiled

"I was talking about the bed."He said and you closed your eyes for a moment, feeling a certain embarrassment

"Yeah...the bed." You looked away

"I missed you too, don't be sad."He noticed your expression and smiled."Come here, my love."He pulled you to his chest and you hugged him

The captain placed a kiss on the top of your head while his hands caressed your back, he couldn't be more relaxed than he was at that moment.

"Thank you for taking care of me in the middle of the night. You are a wonderful wife."He whispered before closing his eyes to sleep

You looked at him, seeing him, with his eyes closed and guessed that he might already be falling asleep. This man slept like a log in a matter of seconds.

You leaned over a little and gave him a little kiss that he didn't even feel.

"I love you, idiot." You whispered

So, i originally started doing an Ideal Type reading but it got hijacked😅 so i guess im reading on his current energy. For his physical type i got pretty weird cards ngl, 3 of them are the tower, 5 of cups and 5 of wands, the 4th one's queen of pentacles. Tbh i didn't really get any hints about anything physical. He seems angry and bitter.

I think this reading is gonna be hijacked by something else he wants to talk about. I sense he has had a bitter experience thats still fresh in his mind, i think he got dumped tbh!

Like im seeing a situation with lots of bickering. Ogmg ok wait i have so much to say about it this situation has so many layers!

He feels like he lost something great and regrets his stupid actions.

So yeah we have that...tbh i didn't expect him to have a reaction like that like with the comparison to his mom. The rest i expected, but this? Damn🥲

Also this whole situation seems very dramatic, but what I've noticed in the male population overall is that they tend to blow things way put of proportion, and so knowing chan and his tendencies for a victim-complex, pick me, delulu and stuff - im pretty sure this situation might've been not dramatic at all. Just 2-3 little discussions (not full blown arguments and fights as he depicts it) or even just opposing opinions, where he just felt attacked in some way just by her disagreeing or something...and then after a few dates or weeks of dating she politely told him she doesn't want to see him anymore cuz they don't see compatiable and he broke down.

Again idk how things are for real cuz i haven read the other girls energy nor have i read just the energy itself, im just reading HIS energy and perception, but it feels really needy and excagerated so thats whats leading me to believe that it might not be nearly as bad.

Judging on the energy of this reading and previous ones ive done i think he has had a think for strong dominant women because he's fascinated with inner strength and power and always wanted to conquer a woman like that because in his head it meant he has that amount of power and strength the said woman had and even more - since he has managed to tame and conquer her. Now that he's tried tho he got met with the cold reality and got a slap in the face realizing he might not be fit for the task just yet and is just sour about it😃

he makes sure you're comfortable next to him and when you look up at him jason smiles brightly, is something so usual of him to you, even when there are bad and rough days or fights between you two there's also good moments like this and you both have made sure they are what matters the most because there's been enough shit that happened to you and him to cling into more of it. jason picks up the book he's currently reading, once again pride and prejudice because he knows you like it when he reads to you, jason would lean in to whisper some lines into your ear before he kisses your temple while his other hand plays with your hair.

First result was a post by you, i checked out your blog and wouldn't you know it your most recent post had you defending me post mortem lmfao. I sent an anon to the other woman too but it seems she won't post it so to clarify to you: when I supposedly said "studies showing violence suffered by bisexuals are cringe and useless" what I remember thinking about that is that those studies that I've seen are never used to try to understand why bisexuals suffer such insane rates of violence (more than homosexuals) and trying to stop it. He knew how much of a prick he was to you and how he treated you; he even witnessed how devastated you were when you once came to him to seek comfort when you found out for the second time he had been cheating.

And he knew damn well you never wanna hear about the jerk ever again.

However, you did appreciate him admitting he wouldn't repeat the history you had with your past lover.

"The fuck, Tom? That bitch has no connection whatsoever about what we're fighting about right now.

The night spent alone in the bed you'd always share with Tom felt cruel.

Not for the reason he's not by your side; it's rather the fact that you're in bed without properly making up with him since you'd always forgive one another the same day.

A big part of you wanted to forgive him - believe that he truly didn't mean what he told you and only accidentally slipped because of the heat in the moment; that we all say things we don't mean when we're mad, and that he really wouldn't stab you on the back with a woman like your past lover did.

The smaller part of you scolded for being such an idiot; for believing a man would stay loyal - that you should call it off before he could do any further damage.

Honestly, you felt devastated just thinking about not being with him; so you eventually came into terms with yourself that the fire will settle down and you'll forgive him and he'll do better.

"Tom?" you asked in disbelief. You were certain he had left since your ears picked up the sound of the front door being pushed open then close in the middle of the night.

Certainty assured your mind that you'd rather not see his face first thing in the morning after such a night. Boy, were you wrong.

Your lover turned his head quickly; unaware of your presence since he's so caught up finishing, as well as perfecting the dish.

"Oh- love, you're awake. I um.. made breakfast but you didn't get up and it's uh, it's almost time for lunch so I thought I'd make your favourite." he stumbled over his words; which is bizarre.

"The pancakes are on the table, you can eat them later as a snack."

You nodded your head with a tight lipped smile and mumbled a thanks before heading to the bathroom.

Once the door had shut; you quickly drowned your face with water to remove the image of Tom cooking without a shirt on.

It's not like it's the first time you've seen him like that; but the way you're reacting right now is how you feel when you catch him in these types of situations - preferably without the post-fight shit going.

After peeing, washing your hands, brushing your teeth washing and drying your face, and doing your skin care - you forced yourself to go back outside for you cannot stay in the bathroom forever.

When you opened and closed the baby blue painted door; your eyes wandered off to the table and drooled at the sight of the newly cooked meal.

Tom patted the seat beside him with a smile; gesturing you to sit beside him.

You had no choice but to join him for lunch; after all, you are starving.

Instead of giving in to his request, you sat in front of him.

Instead of painting a frown on his lips; he still kept his genuinely proud smile (from cooking such a delicious dish) and handed you your plate and utensils - to which you accepted.

"Let's eat?" Tom asked.

"I don't wanna eat without talking about last night." you said with a straight face.

The man in front of you softly breathed a sigh,

"You're right." he agreed with a nod

"I'll start by saying I'm really sorry, and I didn't mean what I said. I just want you to know I would never even dare to think about betraying you like that, and I was an ass for what I did." Tom seemed to look everywhere but your eyes.

He couldn't bring himself to look at your mesmerizing hues for he was certain his shredded heart would be turned into dust.

"I don't even know why I said those things, I- I know this sounds like bullshit but I swear I really don't mean those things and you're the only person who I have my eyes on.

Please give me another chance I- I'll be better now, promise!" he trailed off and fearfully continued;

"But y'know if uh.. if you don't and wanna call it o-"

"Shut up Tom we're not breaking up." you sighed

"I know you said those to defend what you did, and it slipped out because of the heat of the moment. We all say shit we don't mean when mad, I understand. But what I don't understand is why you'd caress her cheek and look into her eyes like that?" your eyes examined his facial expressions and only saw genuine regret on his face. You hoped he'd look at your eyes and tell you directly why.

Hence, before his ready mouth started to explain; you tell him, "Tom, look into my eyes, please."

You caught the way the ball of his throat bopped up and down; swallowing his saliva. His eyes slowly trailed up from the table to your chest, neck, chin, nose, then eyes.

"She said she'd been a fan since the very beginning of the band's debut. She loved all us a lot, especially me. I asked her if meeting us was a dream come true, she said yeah, and we talked a bit more. Then she asked me to touch her face because she really couldn't believe that it was all happening, which I did."

Tom would look away from the two windows of your soul for a second before meeting again.

He was replied with silence; which kind of scared him.

"____? Please say something."

"For God's sake Tom, why didn't you just start with that last night when I brought it up?"

Tom rapidly blinked once, twice, thrice, then for the fourth time. "... I must've forgot to bring it up because I was so caught up in the moment."

You laughed; a true one, "You mean too focused into bringing my ex up?"

He was speechless by how just a second ago you were dead ass serious, and now crying laughing at what you said.

"Sorry, I'm done laughing now." you giggled before continuing, "Fine, I'll forgive you if you tell me where you went last night."

"I went back to my apartment and did some thinking how to make it up to you and slept there. I went out really early to buy groceries so i can cook your favourite food here."

It was your turn to be speechless.

"...You seriously did that?" you asked with doubt in your voice.

"Yeah, I mean the proof is on the table." Tom chuckled.

You said nothing and finally dug into the 5 star looking meal, soon your lover did as well.

"Sooo, are we good?" Tom hopefully asked after sipping his water from the cylinder glass.

"I guess so." you blessed him with a small smile to which he returned with a big one.

Conversation flowed naturally between you as you ate the savoury food.

If Tom didn't make it as a famous guitarist, he'd definitely be a winner in Hell's Kitchen.

After Tom cleaned put the dishes to the sink; you insisted to wash it since he cooked. He declined numerous times but it wasn't going anywhere since you're more stubborn than him.

"All right, fine. Only if you let me hug you from behind." Tom made a deal.

"Pshh, why're you asking as if you don't do that whenever I do shit in the kitchen?"

Tom rolled his eyes with a smirk drawn on his lips as a reply and proceeded to snake his large hands to your waist; then pressing his chest to your back and resting his chin on the crown of your head.

Nothing could be heard other than the clanking of pans, plates, and utensils, along with the flow of the running water from the faucet.

The comfortable verbal silence and physical contact was very much needed after a fight.

After drying your hands with a cloth; you walked towards the couch and sat with your boyfriend still embracing you from behind.

"What do you wanna watch?" you turned your head to the side to look up at his face.

"Whatever you want, I'm fine with anything." Tom looked down to your eyes, then lips.

Slowly, he leaned his fave closer to yours so he could taste your lips.

Once contact had been made; you couldn't help but melt even more to his touch and wrap your arms around his neck - and he couldn't help but deepen the kiss and caress your waist and back.

Soon enough, the passionate kiss had come to an end to catch their breaths.

"I love you so much. You know that, right?" Tom stared into her hues as the tip of their noses touched.

You slowly nodded and brought your hands up to his hollow cheeks, "I love you more." you said before pulling his face closer to kiss each other's lips once again.

Tom mumbled in-between the kisses, "I love you the most, sweetheart." before deepening it. His tongue soon entered your mouth and both your hands rubbed and caressed your bodies.

The hot post-fight make out session would last as long as half the length of the movie you played in the middle of the session; playing Atonement for the millionth time from your entire life.

After pulling your mouths away due to your jaws hurting; you slept and cuddled like babies.

Thinking about this scenario I just picture that soft expression she has when talking to Silco about Jinx and relating it to her relationship with her father. 😭 Want to hug and hold her SO BAD!

AN: This got a little... angsty I guess? Nothing too bad. Just different than my normal vibe. Or maybe I just felt angsty while writing this, idk. I've been feeling kinda down in the dumps lately, particularly in the past several weeks or so, and I think it's starting to show in my writing, unfortunately. (It's certainly been a huge hindrance to writing in general. Output has been near zero, hence the lack of posting much beyond just little HCs, imagines, etc.) But hey, this is SFW, which is unusual for me! Still tossed it below the cut due to length.

I certainly would still love her all the same without those delicious muscles of hers. There are hundreds of reasons I'm crazy about her, and I imagine the rest of the Sevika simps feel the same. She's an incredible woman.

Sevika oozes confidence. She's clearly proud of her body (As she should be! She looks AMAZING at 40). She's got those toned abs and delightfully large bicep of hers on constant display. Not to mention those tight pants that hug her deliciously muscular legs. 🤤

However, she is human. I'm sure that somewhere beneath her cool, confident exterior there's bound to be some self-conscious feelings, some worries, some doubt. Especially if you've been so frequently pointing out her glorious physique. Sure, it's gonna feel great to her at first. She'll feel high as a kite that her favorite person finds her so amazing and attractive. But at some point, you gotta believe she's going to think about what she might look like in 10, 20, 30 years, if she ever gives up whatever strict regime she has to stay so fit. You can't possibly expect her to maintain that figure until she takes her last breath. It's unrealistic and unfair. I certainly wouldn't expect her to. So she probably wonders, what would you think of her then?

Weak. That's how she feels if she ever lets her emotions- her vulnerability- show. So she bottles them up. Keeps them buried deep inside where no one can find them. Covers them up with layers of hardened muscles, a stony expression, and a personality to match. ------------------------X------------------------ Post-workout routine with Sevika, you once again find yourself openly ogling her sweat-slick body. All those delicious muscles of hers just glisten and flex as she wipes herself down with a towel. Sevika catches you staring and that frown she tends to wear curls into a small, crooked grin. You step closer to her and run a hand along her arm, paying special attention to her bicep. "So strong," you whisper, almost in a trance as you give the hard muscle beneath your hand a gentle squeeze. Your eyes drift back up to her face, just in time to spot that sexy smirk of hers deteriorating into something entirely different. Something... pained. Not wanting to let you read the thoughts plaguing her mind, Sevika turns away. Says nothing. Just hopes you can't see how her expression falls into that rare, soft, but dejected look. Like she's carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders. But not even those broad shoulders can carry so much. And they'll only weaken with age, she thinks. And there's that awful word again. Weak. Despite her efforts to hide her feelings, you can spot that sudden change in her demeanor a mile away. The way her shoulders slump, her head drops just the slightest, her gaze goes distant, eyelids heavy over those gray eyes that threaten to expose the storm brewing behind them. You know that look. And you know exactly what's going through her head. So you cautiously step closer, knowing the subject matter is touchy with her. That really anything relative to her feelings puts her on the defensive. Slowly, you slide your arms around her waist from behind and gently pull her closer until your chest presses against the damp, heated skin of her back. You can feel how her body tenses at your touch, the physical affection. But you persist, with care. You rest your cheek just below her shoulder and just hold her, giving her a moment to adjust. Once you feel her start to relax, you finally speak. "You know I'd still love you even without all this muscle, right?" You ask softly. You don't truly expect her to answer. She hates talking about this 'shit' as she'd call it. And that's fine. You just want to let her know how you feel about her. To reassure her she's got you by her side. No matter what. "Your muscles are only one of the many things I love about you, Sev. I hope you know that," you continue on as you pull her closer and tighten your embrace. "Even if they fade away someday, you're still going to be the most gorgeous, charming, and amazing woman I've ever met. I'll always-" you give her a good squeeze for emphasis, "-love you." Sevika still says nothing, but when you press a chaste kiss to her back and feel her human hand slide over yours where it rests on her stomach, you know she's heard you. When she gives your hand an almost imperceptible little squeeze, you know she understands. When she finally turns to face you and pulls you in close, her lips tugging just the slightest at one corner while she peers down at you, you know she believes you. And when she bends down to capture your lips in what is most assuredly the sweetest kiss she's ever shared with you, you know her love for you is just as strong.

have you ever seen the golden compass? The movie with the spirit animal daemon things???? well, I rewatched that yesterday and I couldn’t stop thinking about it.

so, imagine Spider’s daemon spends his entire childhood flicking through forms. The first being a gigantic spider, and the second a blond, shaggy furred dog. Only, when (insert daemons name here) finally settles, he’s a beautiful orange tiger.

this, at first, would be wonderful. (Both bc tigers r fucking cool and second bc it has symbolism from the start of the first movie when tigers are brought back from extinction - it would be the first time Jake or any other humans see a true orange tiger).

BUT BUT BUT‼️ when quaritch was alive his form was ALSO a tiger - a white one - with the same gruesome three-strike scar along its eye m. Bc I’ve decided daemons and humans share scars.

OR OR OR‼️‼️‼️ spiders daemon settles in a desperate attempt to protect him when they meet the recoms for the first time‼️‼️‼️ AAAAAAAAA

I would imagine that Navi don’t have daemons. And they don’t understand the connection between daemon and human. So, therefore, spider doesn’t really get it either. He just sees his worst fear realised and believes his daemon is betraying him.

THIS ALSO MEANS‼️‼️ Recoms might have Pandora daemons‼️ I would imagine some of them would have ikrans as their daemon, zdog would defo have one of those purple bat things and Lopez would have a viper wolf I don’t make the rules. But quaritch would definitely have a giant thanator.

and when they are being pulled up into the ship- or any other time ig - Quaritch’s thanator (who is male, spiders daemon is also - pretty sure it’s like uncommon for daemons to be the same sex as the holder but that’s just how I pictured them) would totally have spiders daemon held by his scruff in his mouth that would be so cute.

ALSO ALSO OMG IM HAVING SO MANY JDEAS JUST WRITING THIS. They would torture spider INSTEAD OF THE MACHINE - they would try to separate him from his daemon like they do in the golden compass ‼️

My original idea was for humans to be shapeshifters. Mainly bc I totally wanted that held bu the scruff scene - but it’s actually quaritch doing it not his daemon. But also, the idea of a thanator daemon grooming a growly tiger daemon is so cute to me.

daemons show people’s true emotions. So spiders daemon is definitely as scared at the beginning, but visibly relaxes very quickly I’d assum - especially around quaritch. And I totally want an over protective thanator pacing the outskirts of their camp every night - lingering on the place spider is sleeping.

Firstly I'm soooo sorry it has taken me this long to respond. Life's been crazy and I've got a promotion/new job which is draining all my mental energy. I've not really been able to write anything at all in the past few weeks and it's making me sad 😭

This prompt is incredible and I 100% agree with the imagery of Quaritch's daemon holding Spider's by the scruff of the neck 😭 I don't have names for them (but I think Spider's one would be a girl) so here's some headcanons.

Quaritch's daemon is a thanator and Spider's is a tiger. As they are both full sized I think this makes for a very interesting concept. Spider's daemon settled after a huge argument with Neytiri a few years ago when she banned him from coming round. (They got over the argument like in the comics but ever since then Spider has an added resentment towards Neytiri because he was desperately hoping his daemon would settle as a creature from Pandora. He feels that if they never fought then he wouldn't be 'shackled' with an Earth daemon, which only adds to his 'alienness' in the clan's eyes.)

At the beginning of the movie Quaritch is almost sure straight away about who Spider is, because the daemon is a dead give away. (I don't know the lore from Golden Compass if characters are like,, born with their daemon or what, but in this AU the fact that Spider's is a tiger is a major give away for Quaritch).

"Miles?" He asks when suddenly a tiger emerges, growling, from the bushes to protect Spider.

Spider has seen enough of Q's video logs to recognise him, too.

The kids are not only surrounded by a dozen recoms but also all of their daemons. Z-dog's is a viperwolf, which pins Tuk down on the ground while Prager's prolemuris attacks Lo'ak. Wainfleet still grabs Kiri and works out that they are Sully's kids.

"Let them go!" Spider yells as he lunges for Wainfleet and his tiger launches itself at Z-dog's viperwolf.

Then, Quaritch's daemon emerges from the trees, silencing the kids with its presence. It goes straight for Spider's tiger, pinning it down easily. Spider yelps as he feels the bite of the thanator around his daemon's jugular. Quaritch commands the thanator to ease up a bit, but still keeping the tiger trapped.

"How are you alive?" Spider growls.

"Your daddy backed up his memories. All his personality too. It was all saved onto a drive and uploaded into... me."

"Let them go..!" (he's struggling because of the thanator's grip on his daemon)

Quaritch smirks, turning his back on his son as he radios command.

Cut to the parents arriving and all hell breaking loose. Q's thanator releases Spider's tiger when a blast goes off right next to them. Spider and his daemon run like Hell. The tiger is only slightly faster than Spider, but the thanator is in hot pursuit. (once again my lack of knowledge about the golden compass lets me down because idk how far Quaritch and his thanator can be separated, but let's say Quaritch catches up fast). When the blast causes Spider to fall down the bank he is initially knocked out but his tiger isn't, and stands guard to protect him, growling, when Q approaches.

The tiger tries to fight the thanator, but ofc is easily overpowered because of the size of the thanator.

Spider is groaning slightly as Quaritch pulls him over his shoulders, but he's too out of it from the fall to be able to prevent himself being carried off

He is aware that he can't see his daemon, and suddenly panic sets in. He knows the recoms could easily hurt her to hurt him.

The adrenaline kicks in enough for him to lift his head and scour the forest through weary eyes - his tiger is being carried in the jaws of Quaritch's thanator a few paces behind them. "Get off!" he tries to yell.

(don't ask me how the daemons are lifted into the demon ship)

At first, Spider and the tiger are thrown into the same cell. They huddle together for warmth at night and the tiger does a good job scratching up the door and tearing down the security camera.

The only person who can handle the two of them is Quaritch, because of his daemon, so it's a struggle to get Spider into the Neuroscanner, and there are some nasty fights between the tiger and the thanator, resulting in a lot of pain for Spider.

The neuroscanner is useless though because spider doesn't give them anything, so eventually they decide to bypass the ethics board and separate Spider from his daemon. Quaritch does not know about this (and like in the golden compass) enters just in time to see them doing this to his son. He's able to stop Ardmore and eventually Q convinces her to let him take Spider out into the field.

When Spider is faces with seeing Q again, he has the full stoic facade, but his tiger is trying not to cower and is trembling. Q sees this and takes even more pity on Spider, his heart breaking for him when he sees what the RDA has done to him.

After a while in the forest, Spider's daemon starts to relax and bond with the thanator, especially since the thanator protects and looks out for it against the Pandoran wildlife.

At night, spider and his tiger curl up together and Q watches them in the firelight thinking all of his deep, wishful, fatherly thoughts, while his thanator is looking at him pointedly as if to say 'why are you jealous of them, I'm right here'

Nevertheless, the thanator looks out for Spider and the tiger

Spider and Quaritch watching their daemons playfully interact and Spider being totally embarrassed while Quaritch is sitting there smugly watching his daemon lick Spider's to clean its fur

I keep thinking of. Little parallels while living w the bby!! (spoiler I divulged in other things) Like maybe in summer he's more. Susceptible to everything. The heat gets to him and while I'm sure he could do something about it with his magic (he's a master sorcerer afterall,, how I wish we had scenes with him showing off), he's still grumpy. Everything is so warm but him. Oof. Idk how deep I could go with this because he's still a God and a Frost Giant he's incredibly resistant and resilient but. Yeah I think the heat can get to him.

And about him being rather chilly to the touch. I don't think Asgardians are that cool, so ... wouldn't that distinguish him from them quickly? Nobody is ever going to be that cold, so he's just. The only one that way. And he might've despised it even before he found out about being a Jötunn. Maybe he tried masking it as he got more familiar with magic, and he refrained himself from touching anyone. Maybe they've pointed that out so many times that he grew conscious of it. Perhaps he slowly began changing his ways as some of his partners mentioned it too as a simple comment, but of course, it was anything but simple to him. And the more he restrained himself, the more he missed the lingering caresses and the slight warmth they offered. And now he grew a little colder within, too, more reserved. But of course I don't think he's reserved only because of his insecurities, but also because he's got outstanding intellect and he reads people easily, so obviously he's more guarded and doesn't let anyone know his motives (which well that is also shown in the movies) — and he's a prince and a God, not someone anyone can talk to everyday.

Buuut to "balance" out those insecurities I vision him being more confident in his looks, shifting between sexes and being very comfortable with that aspect, boosting himself a bit. Like, external worth, he believes he's great and holds himself up too, he's royalty — while in terms of inner worth he's... a mess. Do you see the vision pt 2,,

Yeah your writing for him is really good !! It feels like Loki, and I love that. I sometimes hate reading Loki fics because he starts talking like a modern quirked up little English lad or a like… disgustingly American daddy dom™️ rather than the Shakespearean-esque creature he is and I have to change the dialogue in my mind and I do not have the vocabulary for that… I appreciate your vocabulary and awareness of his complexity 😞❤️

Wait no I always think of that… I live in a disgustingly warm climate and I know he would fucking hate it here. Loki and warmth… I imagine him subconsciously preferring colder/more room temperature water when bathing/showering. He’s taken hot baths before but is like… Is it supposed to burn like that? So he doesn’t do it often. Also he has a low tolerance to spicy food not because he’s sort of White/Scandinavian and not really used to it as it’s not popular in the cuisine he eats but because… Frost Giant… it burns! It’s not his fault 😞

I like to keep in mind the fact that heat SHOULD be one of his weaknesses. Loki is strong and has high endurance, but he’s also a Frost Giant. (You saw what happened to Laufey LOL)

It’s something that he cannot stand and also cannot endure for long. And of course there’s the whole “Thanos tortured Loki with heat and Loki was showing symptoms of heat exhaustion in Avengers” thing. I feel heat is VERY overwhelming for him. He becomes lightheaded and suddenly feels like he has a hundred layers of clothes on that he cannot take off. It’s suffocating. He does not like to sit by the fire he doesn’t have a high tolerance!!

If you want to weaken Loki… heat is your best friend.

Ok I’ve never said this on here but I have this headcanon that Loki as a child would play pretend with Thor (maybe with some of their friends at the time as well) and Loki was always getting the Frost Giant role because he’s cold to the touch (and also because kids are evil sometimes LOL) 😞😞😞😞😞😞 which annoyed him because Frost Giant = bad!! But then the realization that comes many years later… 😞😞😞😞😞😞

No exactly! So many people forget that Loki isn’t only reserved due to his insecurities, but also because he’s smart af and calculating and just better than everyone else idk… for some reason, those things cannot coexist... It’s either Loki hates himself and he’s super insecure and fragile and is just an innocent baby or it’s Loki is a narcissist and hates everyone around him and he’s a diva (💅🏻) and he’s a hedonistic asshole no in between🤦🏻‍♀️

Didn't think I'd cram the last part into one post, but here we are anyway. These last 150ish pages were... All over the place. In a good way!

Oh, there she is!!! Talk about a monster under the bed.

Ok, but how casual is that scene? I know something like that was coming (I've seen some fanart, but knew too little to know who it was about, just that Harrow and Ianthe would be peeking under the bed), but it's just so normal. I like it. Kinda eerie because it's not presented as scary.

Of course Ianthe didn't see it. Don't worry Harrow, I believe you.

Yeah, ok. It makes sense that Ortus was just fulfilling other to kill Harrow. His reasoning for it just wasn't strong enough. "You're a liability." Just like everyone else.

HAHAHAHAHAHA love how Harrow did the typical "I am small. Therefore, I will be a quick and murderous machine" but Muir decided to break up the cliché by saying she discovered that at the ripe age of 5. Man, I love this book. And I love Harrow as a character.

I know I said Ortus was annoying when quoting the Noniad, but I really like him as a character. And by that I mean how Muir has given him more depth and allowed him to grow. Which also made the scene where he hugs Harrow so impactful. 🖤

Ok, the Ortus thing was unexpected. And I'm excited to learn what it's all about.

But first. The Sleeper.

UGH! I love how considerate Gideon is with Harrow's body. Sure, she's a little awkward in it and puts out a dirty joke or two, but she's just trying to be respectful and useful. Also the way she's so worried over any and all her injuries, even though she knows they'll all heal? So fucking cute.

Protesilaus took Dulcinea in his care when she fell ill. That's so cute. 🥺

Oh, hell yes! Gideon stepped the fuck up. Time for Ianthe to meet her fucking match.

You know what? After everything that happened, my reaction to finding out Gideon is God's daughter was just "Ok. Cool."

Cue John's corny dad joke. Love it.

Also I wouldn't have guessed they were related based on their eyes. Sure, John's eyes were mentioned multiple times, but they're silver and Gideon's are gold, so I wouldn't have put two and two together just by that. But! It fits. It's foreshadowed. It works. So yeah. Sure. Love it.

I knew it! I knew that he had a cavalier! I knew that he was a Lyctor! Hell yeah!

So much stuff happens at the end. I just kept on reading, without spending much time on commentating. I needed to know what happens and tbh, I have no idea what I just read. But that's okay! It was fun!

Ok, all in all, the book was spectacular. I liked it even more than I did Gideon. I liked how Muir handled Harrow's grief. I liked the reveals, the mysteries, the tension and the stakes. I liked the characters and I liked how Abigail got a lot more page time. I didn't even care about her in the first book, but now I really like her. I liked Ortus too!

Now, I'm still confused... About a few things. Primarily Harrow Nona. So I'll have to read an explanation or teo about it (or you can comment on the post if you'd like to help me out). Did... Harrow Nonangesimus kept watch and narrated over what Nona was doing? As in, she was dissociating from her body after the lobotomy and experiencing everything from a distance? Or was that all Gideon? Because I feel like it wasn't. Gideon's narration style is totally different and clearly comes out at the very end, but idk. I feel like I'm missing something here or that I'm not grasping something ridiculously simple.

Anyway, I'll be reading a little more about it, but yeah. "Harrow" is done, so I'll have to get my hands on Nona! In the meantime I'll be writing out my review. 🖤

I was thinking about Urusei Yatsura and I must admit I don’t understand Ataru. The more I think, the less I understand! Would you help?

Why is he so insistent with the womanizing? Why he needs it so bad? He really wants the attention of all of these girls or is that supposed to represent his biggest desire for freedom above all else? It’s sort of messed up that he priorizes his so-called freedom and the skirt-chasing above being with the girl he loves and who loves him back and that he knows he’s hurting said girl with his behavior (both the girl-hunting and by withholding affection) and he keeps doing that anyway 😭 (... Not that Lum is a saint either but that's besides the point). Ataru's unwillingness to compromise and to give up on his habit really gets in the way of him truthfully experiencing "True Love", doesn't it? It seems like he would rather lose Lum than commit to her. Do you think he would have acted differently if it was with Shinobu?

Oh, and I've seen some speculation that explained Ataru's lechery as being the result os his relationship with his mother and the lack of motherly love he received growing up, so he actually goes after all these girls because he's that starved for affection. What do you think?

Sure, I'll help you out!! Ataru is a complicated individual, after all. But first, I think it would help you a lot if you read my write up on 'Ataru's Love for Lum' first since whatever I've mentioned there is very vital to understanding Ataru as well.

And I haven't even started yet but I have a feeling this will be a sequel to the linked post above since this ask does bring up some questions I don't think I've directly touched in that one.. so...

I hope my fellow UY's are having a great day because today on ‘Yuca Analyzes Silly Things (For No Reason)’, we'll be talking more about Ataru and his relationship with Lum!

And naturally there are spoilers so proceed with caution..

Ok now, let's begin!! Your first question is 'Why does Ataru womanize?' As for the initial reason? Not completely sure. The manga shows that he's just always been like that, even as a kid. It's just never been talked about. And I don't believe in the speculation which you stated btw, because I wouldn't say that Ataru had a lack of motherly love. Yeah, Mrs. Moroboshi can be a bit comedically harsh, but most of that ends up being a one time joke. In fact, she actually really does love Ataru and takes really good care of him (to the point where she waits for him to arrive before eating dinner, says she'll save up money on him so he can go to a good college and other details like that which you can catch here and there), she's just worried about his idiotic tendencies, that's all.

The best theory I have about his womanizing is that ever since he was little he's always seen women in a sort of 'very nice and sweet onee-chan' sort of way. What supports this theory is the fact that Ataru's mom seems to be the most involved in his life compared to his dad (who's either at work or buried deep into his newspapers, he does spend sometime though) and has the most agency in the family. Because of that small Ataru probably had a better view of woman, which probably made him want to meet more and befriend them but since he was small and an idiot, he would just cling onto them which naturally annoyed them to the point of there being rumors about him. And as he grew older (and hormones), this 'liking' eventually became lust. Another theory is that it might be genetics since both of his parents have fallen for someone else during the series' run, but that's like the only thing to support the theory. In the end, I'm still not completely sure. Like to be fair, UY is a gag which wasn't exactly written with much thought (yeah, the character development is unintentional. I'm pretty sure it's a result of RT writing each chapter by going with the natural flow of the story, which is why the characters grow gradually. This isn't something any writer can do btw) so not everything would have an explanation.

Next is 'Why is he still womanizing? why does he want these girls?' Because he's young. He's still a teenager and he likes women and he has for years to the point it's a habit. Habits are hard to break so he can't suddenly be dedicated to someone out of straight up nowhere (especially if she basically got them 'married' instantly when he's still just a teenager). His love for women is just a huge part of his personality, it's just not something he can throw away in an instant and because of that he remains attached. What does not help matters even more is the number of gorgeous girls who're usually around him on a daily basis, girls who are incredibly cute, beautiful, sexy.. tell me, just tell me exactly how easy would it be to break his girl hunting habit when that's the case??

As for Lum, Ataru doesn't emotionally hurt Lum with his womanizing for the most part. Sure, the hope he would stop does linger in her but his infidelity for the most part only makes her mad more than anything else, and she recovers from her anger pretty quickly. Lum getting deeply hurt, is actually quite rare (and has happened very few times in the series) since she's mostly very outgoing. Whenever she's that hurt, we, the readers are made aware of her feelings because unlike a certain idiot, she doesn't keep how she feels to herself. But for the most part, Lum just goes into furious rage rather than any sort of deep feelings when it comes to Ataru's womanizing and yes, Ataru is completely aware of that so he knows he isn't hurting her in any serious way.. and if he did hurt her in that manner, he would probably want to fix things with her..

See how Ataru wanted to talk to her here when he thought she was emotionally hurt? But it was actually buildup for her rage..

The next bit I want to talk about is how both of them love teasing, irking and messing with the other, Ataru likes poking at Lum's temper and Lum likes messing up Ataru's enjoyment with women because to them, their daily antics are like a game which neither wants to lose because of their pride. Like that, their 'he flirts, she zaps, she chases him' thing isn't something they take to an emotional value. It's their game, a game which neither wants to give up.

Now with that done, I want to talk about what you said regarding 'Ataru prioritizing his womanizing over Lum' which has evidently shown to be incorrect. One example is in the 'Electric Jungle' arc, when he left a date with some girl just so he could go on his date with Lum. It's not always a girl accepts Ataru's request; the chances for that is most probably lower than his chances to go on a date with Lum, yet he still left his date with the girl anyways because he knew Lum was waiting for him. Another example is the fact that Ataru won't accept a harem if it doesn't have Lum in it. If Lum isn't in the harem, the harem means nothing to him. Heck, the reason why he wants a harem is because he needs Lum with him, even if there are other girls. Lum is what matters the most to him.

Next is the topic of Ataru and 'true love', Ataru isn't someone who yearns and is desperate for 'true love', but he still does hold it with value. To Ataru, 'true love' doesn't mean flirting, kissing, etc., it means something much deeper, something that comes from the heart. The former can be done even if you don't love someone truly, but the latter is what 'true love' is. There's also a bit more to it but I've already talked about this in the above linked analysis, so I'll just copy-paste that part here instead of writing it from scratch:

Now if he does love her, then why doesn’t he agree to do couple stuff (here I mean stuff like kissing, flirting, saying “I love you”, etc.) with her? That’s because he does all those things with other woman to the point they have lost that specialness. It may still be special to her, but not to him because Lum isn’t any woman, he’s the only one he actually cares about and he doesn’t want to give her the same treatment he gives other women.

So, yeah, it's exactly what I said..

And finally the question 'Would he have acted differently if it was Shinobu?' Of course, we all know that they used to be exes and we do get to see how it was back then as well so we'll just use that info. The womanizing part remains the same for the most part, Ataru would chase skirts if it's either Lum or Shinobu. But the difference would be in whether he shows affection. With Lum, Ataru knows that she'll never leave him and that she will only love him (which is true) but Shinobu isn't like that. Shinobu didn't have any other options and she was already friends with Ataru which is why they started dating. But when she's presented with a better option (temporarily Rei, though only in term of handsomeness, she turned him down because he's an idiot, and later Mendo) her mind immediately wavers and prefers the better option, after all she wants the one who is the match made for her. Because of this, Ataru can't hide his feelings (which he eventually ended up losing anyways) or else it's literally over. It's also easier for Ataru to show affection towards Shinobu since he's always been friendly with her, unlike Lum who he treated terribly at first.

And I think that's it! This ended up being hella long and I ended up spending a lot of time on this (so.. to those reading, please like and even more importantly, reblog! pretty please?) and I hope I was able to clear all your questions anon! Feelings come whether or not we want them to. You can't stop how you feel, it just isn't possible. And that's how it is with your feelings for James.

You didn't plan on falling in love with James Potter. The handsome, funny, smart and a total heartthrob James. But most importantly James, your friend.

You've known James since the first year at Hogwards. It's been a wild ride ever since. You are really close to all of the boys actually. But the friendship with James has always been different in a way.

At first, you thought your crush on James was going to pass, but when it didn't go away quickly. You settled on coping with it, still hoping it would pass over time. But it didn't.

You were managing it pretty well, up until the point, when it got painstakingly worse. James started to show his interest into Lily, your best friend.

She was the only one, that you told about your silly and not so little crush, so of course she rejected every one of James's advances.

Even now, as you are walking down the hall, she is being asked on a date by him.

"Come on, Evans. Just one date, just one," he almost begs, emphasise on almost.

"No Potter, just stop asking already. I don't want to go on a date." She says and she quickly tugs you away from him.

You always feel bad, that she rejects him mainly because of you. You've told her multiple times, that you don't mind, but she is just as stubborn as James.

James isn't one to quit asking her out either. He doesn't understand why she keeps rejecting him, because before this, he thought, no he was certain, that she liked him back. He wouldn't have even asked her on a date in the first place, if he wasn't sure of it.

But just like that, Lily's feelings had dissappeared or maybe they hadn't been there at all.

His trying goes on for a bit longer, but suddenly, to your surprise, he stops asking. You didn't think there was a chance he'd quit, you were wrong.

He hasn't asked Lily out for weeks and you think that everything is normal. You even think there's a possibility of James liking you back.

But as it shows, something else has changed, too. Lily has started to act weird.

She spaces out a lot, lost in thoughts about god knows what. She also just randomly dissappears. You've asked her multiple times about this, she just always goes red and makes up some suspicious, but not completely unbelievable excuse.

But the reason why doesn't hit you right away. It's only when, she tells you this one excuse, you know, what's probably up.

She tells you the exact same excuse, you've heard only one person ever use, James. And at that time it was only you and James there, so she couldn't have heard it.

You try not to think too much of it. You think, you are definitely just overreacting. I mean, Lily is your best friend, she would have never done anything like this behind your back. Never.

Your thoughts  are driving you crazy, because you are so sure that it's not what you think it is, but on the other hand your mind is making you doubt it more and more every day.

So for the peace of mind you decide to find out. One night, when she sneaks out of the dorm, you go after  her.

You follow her through the halls, but not too close so she doesn't notice you. After a few minutes she stops at a window and looks at the night sky. For a moment you think, that that's why she is here, but you are so mistaken.

You hear a voice, not just any voice, it's his, it's James's. You can't believe what you are seeing, you still feel some denial about it, but when you see James kiss her, you know you were right.

You don't want or can spend another second watching them. You are ready to run away, when you back into a vase behind you and it falls on the ground, immediately drawing theirs attention to you.

"Who's there? Y/N?" You don't respond, you are out of there before they can say anything else with big tears running down your face.

Unfortunately, you don't realise they run after you until it's too late. James's hand clutches your wrist, " wait Y/N stop, let's just talk about this."

"T-talk? About what?" you ask, there's barely any anger in your voice, just pain.

"We're sorry-"

"Sorry for what?"

"I know that you like me and that seeing us together like this-" James starts and you interrupt him.

"You've told him?" you look more than hurt at Lily, "how could you..." you shake your head in betrayal.

"I don't even care about you being together. I've told you this, you knew this," you point at Lily. You cannot believe them right now.

"What I don't get is why you lied and sneaked behind my back. And not only once, you kept lying to my fucking face all the time."

Both of them are at loss for words. The even worse thing about all this, that you aren't even angry, only heartbroken.

"I didn't want to hurt you-" Lily starts, tears starting to form in her eyes, too.

"Well, you didn't do a good job. Because this lying hurt me more than the truth could ever have..." you sob, voice breaking.

"Please y/n, just let me explain," Lily reaches out for you, but you take a step back.

"Y/N, just hear us out. We were planning to tell you," James tries to explain, but honestly there's just no point anymore.

"When?" you scoff, "at your wedding?" you shake your head. If you ever want to be close to them again, you need to leave, because you are too hurt to actually solve anything.

"We-we...." James tries to find the right words, but comes out with nothing.

"I-I need to go, I can't do this right now. Hell, i don't know if i want to do this ever," you spin on your heel, before they can even blink and walk away with sobs shaking your body and your heart shattered into million pieces.

A very unnecessary and long post on why "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" has my favorite version of Sub-Zero Bi-Han.

(English isn't my first language so I'm sorry if i repeat myself a lot)

I've been planning on starting to make posts about this show since there is SO much to say, and I feel like it's not appreciated enough.

No. It is not perfect MK media, but it does embark on some very awesome concepts and ideas I've taken myself for AUs so I feel the need to spread the word.

That's why before you read this I recommend you check out the show itself! Is free on YouTube to watch, though I should warn y'all it ends on a cliffhanger that makes me wanna cry knowing it was canceled but i say it's still worth the watch.

For today’s post, i wanna talk about a character that while isn't one of my personal favorites, it surely has become one in this show.

Also i wouldn't call this a serious character analysis this is just me rambling about a dead man 😭.

For starters, Sub-Zero Bi-Han was never a character that caught my attention. My first introduction to him was MK1 and I'll be honest. 

It is my least favorite version of him atm, so I was relieved to see that he had been done better justice in the older sagas of the franchise… sort of.

I thought "MK: Mythologies Sub-Zero" was gonna be the only version of him I would be invested in, but then I decided to start watching "MK Legacy" and my perspective changed completely. 

I will be more so specifically talking about episodes 7-8 of season 2 since that's where we look at his lore more in depth, but season 1 is absolutely worth mentioning. 

Then after summarizing those, I'll give some closing thoughts.

In episodes 7-8 of season 1, we get introduced to Hanzo’s backstory and how he became Scorpion (my favorite version of it as a HUGE Hanzo fan.) 

I adored watching this interpretation of Harumi and Satoshi (called Jubei here) and how they interacted with Hanzo, and as always, the tragedy of it all. But this is still about Bi-Han.

Getting tricked into leaving his village earlier than expected, Hanzo encounters “Bi-Han” on his way to the Kumamoto Castle. You can already imagine what happened to his family and clan while he was away. 

After defeating “Bi-Han”, Hanzo runs back to his village only to find that everyone had been slaughtered (this scene actually almost made me start crying.) 

Before he even gets time to process the death of his wife and son, he is backstabbed (quite literally) by “Bi-Han”. 

It is revealed, like usual, that this entire time it was Quan Chi disguised as Bi-Han and was also helped by Shang Tsung to perform this attack on the Shirai Ryu. He quickly converts Hanzo into the vengeful specter he is so he will participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament and in exchange, he will be able to get his “revenge”. 

Now none of this is really news. Yes there are changes there and then but what if i told you this is a lot more tragic than you think?

Not only did Hanzo lose his family and clan, he died thinking he was betrayed by his childhood friend, who had sworn to agree to peace between their clans. 

That's what finally leads us to season 2 ^_^

In season 2, they take a very interesting spin on the Sub-Zero and Scorpion rivalry. Like I mentioned earlier, Hanzo and Bi-Han were actually childhood friends.

They would meet up at the hayfield outside their villages to play and train together, which I believe might be one of my favorite takes on their relationship. I think making them childhood friends makes their relationship a lot more deeper and interesting than it is presented in the games. 

While they sparred however, Kuai Liang appears and tries warning his brother of their father and his guys coming over to stop them but Bi-Han doesn't listen, which ends up with both him and Hanzo getting in trouble whenever the Shirai Ryu member's father shows up as well. 

As Hanzo is taken by his respective father, Bi-Han’s reminds him of the rivalry between the Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu. 

“Why do you keep playing with that boy?”

“Because he is my friend.”

“He is not your friend.”

“But why?”

“His clan aren't to be trusted.”

“But why?”

“It's the way it's been since before your grandfather was born.”

Bi-Han still doesn't understand it, but his father dismisses him. 

They nailed the childlike curiosity and confusion in this. Maybe it's just because I love these types of tropes, but it was a delight to see just tiny Bi-Han and Hanzo be friends and play together despite their differences. 

20 years later, we get reintroduced to Hanzo, taking a walk with Harumi and Jubei.

Jubei separates from his parents as he runs deeper into the road, and ends up encountering Kuai Liang and two of his goons, who hold him captive as Hanzo has to intervene to help his son. 

Kuai Liang talks about how Hanzo and his family are intruding in Lin Kuei territory, so Hanzo argues that the road is neutral, decreed by the shogun.

Hanzo then threatens to tell Bi-Han about this intrusion which leads to a confrontation between the two. 

It ends up with something I found EXTREMELY unexpected, that being the death of Kuai Liang.

Now I can't say I like this version of him at all, but it is interesting seeing a version of Kuai that not only doesn't survive, but also seems egotistical and ambitious. As kind of lame as his death was imo I still thought he was.. something. They had to sacrifice him for the better Bi-Han. Fly high 🕊🕊🕊

Later on, Hanzo and Bi-Han reunite at the same place they played as children to settle things about Kuai’s death.

Bi-Han believes Hanzo when he tells him he wasn't the aggressor in the situation and grieves about how Kuai Liang had always felt underappreciated. He still apologizes on his behalf, and he and Hanzo agree to never have the clans clash with each other again as they shake hands like good friends do!

Tweaking trying not to mention Bihanzo this entire time tbh. But point is:

There is something extremely charming about this version of Bi-Han and Hanzo trying to settle the differences between their clans. It makes what comes next so much worse, but also a lot more fascinating like how the Hell did they not make this canon in any of the games. 

But yeah at this point you know this won't have a happy ending.

Next scene shows us Bi-Han being awakened from bed, being given the horrible news. 

Hanzo, his family and clan, were all gone. Brutally murdered by his men. 

He snaps, and I just have to share the dialogue in this because it drives me insane.

“Hanzo and I had a truce. This was to be a new era. An end to the senseless violence. Then why do I wake from my bed to find you, who I entrusted my men to-.. Hanzo? His whole family? His entire clan? Slaughtered. He who I had promised to end this violence.”

This alone says a LOT about Bi-Han's character. 

He never wanted this to keep going. He just wanted to have peace between the clans, to have an alliance with his friend who had trusted him. His friend who is now gone. He didn't wanna walk into his father’s footsteps and this makes Quan Chi even more of a fucking asshole than in the games and DAMN IM ALL HERE FOR IT.

As he is about to go off, he is interrupted by a mystic of the Lin Kuei, offering to show him the truth of what had happened. 

In between this they throw a flashback of Hanzo to remind us that he died thinking Bi-Han killed his family just to add salt on the wound i guessssss. 

We then cut back to the mystic and Bi-Han, who shows him what truly happened and the participation of Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. 

Having Bi-Han find out who Quan Chi is from the beginning is another interesting idea from this series (not counting mythologies here) and I like the fact Bi-Han mainly joined the tournament to make amends with his old friend. 

But I also sit down and think about how horrific it must have been for him, seeing Hanzo being stabbed and told lies by someone pretending to be him. Just seeing his dead friend and family must have sent shivers down his spine (no pun intended).

In the end, it cuts back to the present, the fight between Sub-Zero and Scorpion. 

The fight ends as you would expect, Hanzo wins and murders Bi-Han, finally getting “revenge”. But if everything that I've told you so far doesn't make his death tragic enough, then maybe his last words will. 

“No- Hanzo! I gave no such order! You’ve been deceived! Please Hanzo don't do this-”

Gets decapitated without a chance.

Now to explain why i dig this verison of Bi-Han so fucking much.

I believe that MK Legacy gave so much more to his relationship with Hanzo, as well as actually making me feel awful for his death.

A pretty recurring theme in the MK franchise is to have Bi-Han Sub-Zero be quickly killed off and replaced by Kuai Liang, just to later turn into Noob Saibot. So not only was it refreshing to see something different that actually made me upset he was unfairly killed, it was also nice to see a “what if”.

What if he and Hanzo were childhood friends? How much would that change their rivalry in the games?

What if Kuai Liang had just died or never turned into Sub-Zero so early? How different would events turn out if Bi-Han had only time to shine longer?

What if he did find out about Quan Chi impersonating him early? Would he also go on a quest to hunt him down scorpion style for slandering his honor? Or would he care at all?

While this series answers these questions (in a way) they have so much goddamn potential to be a plotline in an actual mortal kombat game LIKE IT'S INSANE. 

I personally have the belief that MK1 could have even improved by borrowing some of these concepts. 

Have Hanzo be their childhood friend instead of Harumi. I would have loved to see a rivalry like this between Lin Kuei and Shirai Ryu in the new era, but guess NRS just loves crushing everyone’s dreams (I refuse to blame Lulu for this.) 

Overall, all these new concepts and the way they were delivered is why this is my favorite version of Bi-Han ever created.

It makes Noob Saibot a lot more tragic than he already was, and it lets me explore who Bi-Han was as Sub-Zero before that transformation. 

PLEAAAAAASE someone has to see the vision (and the Bihanzo one too if interested wink wink) (i also like Kuaihanzo btw)

-Pls no one make this weird and sexual! That was finally them bonding and showing trust, taking care of each other. Him, helping put the glass out of her leg, and her shaving him and leaning on him. That's just trust!

-Klaus is gonna spend some time in that coffin, wouldn't he?

-Can he potentially die due to lack of oxygen and food, and be reborn over and over again for eternity?!
