I really liked "Luminary Wardance", maybe even more than the main quest from that patch. But I have a problem with Boothill's involvement. As I see it, either the writing was bad for that part even by the HSR's uneven standards, or I'm missing something (which is quite possible, so please correct me if I'm wrong), but that's my problem.
1. Boothill is described as "extremely optimistic and unrestrained. He is a member of the Galaxy Rangers who swore to punish the wretched by any and all means." That little event before his release described some of his crimes: wild, fun, and chaotic; I don't remember him derailing trains full of orphans or something. He was appalled when Aventurine accused him of killing his bodyguards. So basically I understood him as a character who, despite all the hardships, under his inhuman appearance and gruff manners, hasn't lost his humanity and fundamentally is a good person, valuing human lives.
Was I wrong?
Because now he has no problem killing an innocent, disabled, and severely mentally ill kid in this supposedly friendly competition, basically for no reason.
Look, he's grinning maniacally; he crearly has no qualms about this; he's aiming for the head:
Tumblr media
2. But let's imagine Luka wasn't swift enough. The floor of the arena is covered with his blood, brain matter, and skull fragments, exactly as Boothill threatened.
Luka's father receives terrible news back at home (would Boothill send a little apology letter? like, "whoops, sorry", or "same, bro", or "he had it coming"?) He's left alone to grieve the violent loss of his child on this dying planet, once invaded by the IPC and abandoned by the universe. Wow, well done, Boothill. That will show the IPC!
Tumblr media
As a writer, how little should you care about the story and the characters you are writing about to not notice the obvious parallel?
3. But why did he do that? The writers give us the flimsiest excuse:
Boothill: I wanna see every news outlet in the cosmos buzzin' with the headline "The IPC's most wanted man stole the spotlight at the Wardance. He came out with the fudge blazin' and sure made them IPC shirtbags choke on the humble pie."
Okay, let's pretend he killed Luka, this fan favorite underdog, in front of the whole universe. Let's pretend he wasn't spooked away by some IPC cops (and we'll talk about it later). He fought Yanqing and killed him too. He just proved in front of the whole universe that he's actually as cruel and dangerous as the IPC propaganda said. And he got a new powerful enemy (because I don't think JY would be reasonable about losing his child like this. I mean, how many greiving fathers can we get in one hypothetical scenario?)
I don't think the IPC higher-ups will lose any sleep over it!
4. Was there even a need to kill anybody? It's explicitly stated several times that "by holding the Wardance, they're demonstrating to everyone that they've returned to a state of peace and safety" (and it's not to satisfy people's thirst for blood or something). It's a festival, not some kind of death fight. I've got the impression that it's mostly for younger people to have fun and prove themselves. Most of the competing powerful adults don't even show their full strength. Nobody is expected to kill anybody. Yanqing decisively defeated Luka, and they ended up being friends.
Don't tell me Boothill isn't skilled enough to aim for Luka's arm to disable it with a shot (I mean that's what ended up happening but not for his lack of trying!). Or, if he wanted blood, why not just shoot Luka in the kneecaps? He'd probably need two new prosthetics, but he'd definitely be alive.
5. I already showed that Boothill would've achieved nothing if he won. But what about Luka? Maybe it's his fault? Was he too prideful? Was giving up an option for him? Absolutely not. He wasn't just representing himself, the children of the Underworld who believe in him, and that little girl who died, but his whole planet. It's the first time most people even hear about Jarilo-VI. And the first impression is crucial. Jarilo-VI is far from being safe, their chances for survival are tiny. Any support he can gain might be the matter of life and death for his homeworld. And we know that it worked because JY offered the Luofu's help to Jarilo in the end.
6. Btw, he only "fought" Luka because he knew he's much weaker than him, and then he ran away from some random IPC cops (who wouldn't have arrested him anyways because the Luofu clearly don't consider him a criminal, and they probably wouldn't allow the IPC to just arrest people on their territory). I'm not making this up, he literally says it himself:
Boothill: This kid (Yanqing) is young, but he's got some serious skills. Facing him will take too long and there's no guarantee of winning. It ain't worth gettin' caught by those forkin' IPC hounds over a competition.
So "I don't want to try and kill that kid because he can actually win". Our hero, everybody.
I mean, I'm not the only one who sees this, right? Again, it's very possible that I'm missing something important, and it all makes sense. Is he supposed to be a coward as well as a cold-blooded murderer? I don't believe that. It looks like a terrible slander of Boothill by the game's writers. Is everybody okay with it?
7. This whole confrontation kind of makes sense as the lowest point in Luka's story until you look closer. Getting to their lowest point is an important part of a hero's journey, but it usually happens in the beginning, indicating the need for the hero to change and grow, or in the end, as a test. But it happens in the middle. And it kind of doesn't change anything much?.. He gets over it and just continues competing.
The kind of character our hero loses to is also very important. It might be a mindless goon or a "for me it was Tuesday" type of villain, unrlated to our guy in any way, allowing the story to concentrate on the hero's journey. Or the antagonist's personality might be important for the story, highlighting their personal relationship with the hero or their conflicting ideologies; our hero overcoming the antagonist not only physically but mentally too, probably allowing them both to grow.
But it's neither. Boothill isn't a faceless goon, he's a complex character, a protagonist of his own tragic story. Their ideologies or goals don't clash (other than the serfuce level "I want to win this competition"). They don't have any personal history either. Boothill just appears, attempts to murder Luka, and basically disappears from the story.
8. Speaking of, you know what would be great? If instead of threatening Luka and then shooting him point blank, they actually talked. If Boothill had some character development by realizing that other people's struggles might be more important than his own pursuit of revenge sometimes. I mean, Luka was literally fighting to save his planet.
But instead, it feels like the writers just used Boothill as a tool in Luka's story, ruining him in the process.
9. Okay I'll shut up now. I'm too wordy and anal retentive. I just needed to get it out of my system. But I could go on and on. The more I think about it, the more problems I see. Like, why was their confrontation clearly styled after a classical cowboy standoff when only one of them had a gun? It makes no sense. Why did the journalists and fans have problems with Boothill's gun after the match? Didn't we just fight Topaz and her goons, who use guns too? Why wasn't it a problem then? Why did Luka faint after shielding himself from the bullet? I don't think he was wounded. And if he was wounded seriously enough to faint, then how did he manage to recover fast enough for the next match? Especially considering that the Luofu's healthcare mostly consists of feeding people normal food and giving them pets. Speaking of which, what was that dialog with Natasha in the beginning? Is he also terminally ill?… And why was Boothill borderline abelist about Luka's prosthetic arm? Yes, it was IPC branded at this point, but it's not like he just hates everything related to the IPC. He's basically good friends with Aventurine, and he had no problems sharing a small ship with Topaz and Jade. Btw, despite HSR being as vague about characters' ages as possible, it's kind of implied that Luka's underaged ("The tea served there isn't suitable for someone his age", "That red-head boy is actually… Luka from Belobog?" and so on). Boothill nearly killed a (probably) actual child in cold blood. A kid from a planet that just nearly survived IPC's military invasion. What were the writers thinking???

Sorry I need to send this about the "children of the goddess should not be allowed to rule" thing. Cause like, why shouldn't they. We, as humans generally appreciate the guidance of someone older and wiser. Wouldn't a nabatean's lifespan and experience make them the most "fit" to rule? Like, yeah, I trust someone with a millenia life experience to lead more than I trust someone with under 3 decades. And maybe it can be argued that Rhea didn't do a good enough job, but that doesn't actually disqualify the rest of them? Like, either they're truly godlike and should lead due to their inherent experience and wisdom, or they're just like any other person, in which case why shouldn't they get the CHANCE to lead. Like, is the situation that they live in fodlan, but have no rights to play a role in the future that they'll have to live in? They're not allowed to be in a position of leadership due to their race? Cause that's like. Pretty bad. But this is a question the game cannot answer because it might make homegirl look slightly morally questionable.
Go ahead anon, rant!
I think this issue could have also been raised in FE10 - but that game and "racism" is like... you believe you're eating a chocolate flavored peanut, and only realise you're actually eating a peanut flavored chocolate.
For all of the focus, in both games of the duology, Daien got as the laguz hating country, there's no line/zilch about them being happy - or not - with having a heron branded queen? Miccy will age slower than regular beorcs, will Daein peeps be okay with that? We don't know, but we sure know that legends will remember Ikey-poo fondly, just, don't give a fuck about the world or the other characters from the verse please.
As for Nabateans not being allow to do either X or Y based on their race... well, it was basically raised early in the fandom days by some people, myself included, but I guess being able to drink tea with Freezer overwrote that issue.
We could argue using headcanons all day long, for 5 years lol about what Rhea did or didn't - since the game loves to tell and show different things, but the fact that Nopes had to add Yuri and Dimitri discussing about common sense, like feeding people first before giving them education, I'm pretty sure the devs never believed people would seriously wonder what would Clout/Supreme Leader/Dimi's policies about "making a better world" would entail : both Yuri and Ferdie's supports are just here to, in a typical Fodlan fashion, sprinkle peanuts on your ice cream to make you believe you're really eating a snickers.
"We're a very serious game about having three political powers discussing about the future of the world and what should be done to reach this ideal !"
"And no one thought about food? People needing food to survive? Before doing anything else like getting a proper education or wishing to have a say in the politics of their respective states?"
"... Well, we also tackle very serious themes like isolationism and its effect of society and prejudices!"
"By depicting the foreign neighbours as MENA inspired people being bloodthirsty and deadset on pillaging or rampaging in cities? They attack for fun and let their orphans die as canon fodder? And the main lead who wants to talk about opening the borders and isolationsim never mentions this? At all? Especially since he's a prince of this MENA inspired country?"
"... but we hammer in 3 routes how this lady is evil incarnate, and in the 4 others, we say she sus!"
"Your point being? One person hearsaid to be wrong doesn't suddenly make the rest of your cast likeable, especially if their writing has glaring holes like the ones I pointed!"
"... we can sell super rad umbrellas?"
And you know what, it's a damn shame the devs didn't believe in their "homegirl" as you said it, because Freezer is somehow super popular, and that was even before the DBS retcons!

Final Fantasy 3 3D Remake - Review
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy 3D is the only version of the game I've played so far, this is the second time I've played it, in fact. But as a remake, I wish it would offer more than what it does.
I remember liking this game a lot when I first played it, like a breath of fresh air after my first playthrough of Final Fantasy 2, which was abysmal, but with this replay, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, maybe because I wound up enjoying Final Fantasy 2 this time around.
Tumblr media
The plot is quite simple, you control a party of 4 orphans who were chosen by the elemental crystals to return the light to them, but this version of the game adds a little bit to it, instead of the 4 main characters being blank slates, they gave them names and unique designs, though they didn't do much as far as their personalities go.
There's Luneth, the first one to come across a crystal, who doesn't have any more major characteristics to talk about, Arc, a meek boy who lives in the same Village as Luneth, Refia, the only girl of the group, daughter of a blacksmith, and who I think has the most going on, but even still it isn't much, and finally Ingus, who I renamed as Bald, a knight who is in love with a princess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While I appreciate the fact they added characters to the game, I am mostly disappointed because they missed a big chance of giving them more dialogue and character, they have the most dialogue and interactions at the start of the game, but the further you go, they start only giving one-liners every couple of hours.
Tumblr media
The same feeling goes for the cutscenes. I like the 3D aesthetic, but they completely fumbled it by not doing anything special for them. They are as basic as they can get, even in moments that are supposed to be tense or action-packed. It's just the models in neutral poses not interacting with anything. It's not a huge deal, but the missed potential really gets to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before I move on to another point, I want to reiterate that I really like the 3D look and how they chose to go for a cartoony 3D style. The original monster designs and the jobs translated really well into this 3D look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now for the gameplay, it completely abandoned everything that Final Fantasy 2 tried to do, thank goodness, and instead of completely going back to what the first game did, they created an entirely new system.
You can freely change the character's jobs, and these jobs level up, on top of the characters also having levels, jobs level up like every 5 actions you take in combat, while character level increases with exp.
Each job has unique abilities, on top of changing the stat spread of the character, with the exception of HP.
A job's stat spread will tend to favor either physical skills or magical skills, if a job has high physical attack, even if it can use magic it will most likely not have that much MP or magic power to take proper advantage of them.
I also really like the visual details of every class, they all have unique details for every character.
Tumblr media
I like this system, even if I have some problems with it. I like the option of being able to freely change jobs, but jobs that you haven't leveled up first perform very poorly in combat, on top of you getting a stat penalty whenever you change them, which goes away after some encounters.
It is fun to experiment with the unique commands each job has, but I just ended up sticking to the best available jobs at the time, I really didn't feel the need for constant job switches, but whenever I replay the game, I really want to experiment with a different job combination for my party.
I would be more daring with job switching if the penalty for switching didn't exist, it forces you to go out of your way and fight weaker monsters for a while before being able to properly tackle monster from the current part in the game.
I think the penalty comes from how HP increases when you level up, all the jobs change every stat except for HP, it goes up depending on your vitality, so having an active job with high vitality would make you get more HP, and honestly I would just prefer if HP also changed around with jobs, instead of adding a layer of min-maxing that just increases grind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dungeon design also felt lackluster. Except for the last dungeon, they are all pretty short and simple, way more so than they were in the previous game. They are serviceable but I wish they had more meat to them.
The game added a zoom-in mechanic I feel is bothersome most of the time, you can find hidden items or buttons by zooming in, but its addition just makes me want to stay zoomed in so I don't miss anything, but at the same time being zoomed in makes exploring very awkward, which is a good way to describe it, it's an awkward mechanic.
Tumblr media
Something else I felt ticked off by was that the encounters had a small number of enemies per encounter, at most 3 enemies at the same time, it's not a problem in isolation, but considering the job leveling system, it makes getting job levels slower than it would be with more enemies, it also made the game feel very easy, the last dungeon encounters are the only ones that I felt posed a challenge, and the very start of the game can be a bit rough too.
Tumblr media
Something I really like is being able to change who your lead character is, letting you walk around with whoever you think looks the best at the moment, which in my case will always be Refia, there's also a system that makes use of this mechanic.
Tumblr media
Mognet consists of a Mog that will deliver letters to you from characters you have met before, they are mostly flavor text with no big significance, but after you get a certain number of them for every character you unlock a short sidequest that rewards you with unique equipment. But it is a bit lame that you have to manually change your lead character to check every time, as all characters have only 1 of the playable characters that will make the letters appear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It might sound like I am being rough on the game, but it comes from a place of love, I feel frustrated by the lost potential of some of its elements.
This is also a good game to grind while watching something, to get the most out of it, you need to pretty much master every job to get the best equipment for it, and to be capable of beating the superboss of the game (Which I skipped this time around).
Tumblr media
The auto-battle option they included really helps make the grinding go faster, but I would still recommend watching something while doing all that grinding, I am happy at least grinding is not required at all to beat the normal final boss, the game is pretty well balanced in that regard.
Tumblr media
I definitely want to give this game yet another go in the near future, along with the pixel remaster version to really confirm whether more enemies per encounter enhances the experience for me or not.
I can see myself enjoying this game even more on my next playthrough now that I know how to properly approach its mechanics, and I think it's a safe starting point for anyone trying to get into Final Fantasy, just don't expect a deep plot out of it.

Once More For the People in the Back:
- Lilo & Stitch is NOT about the evils of colonization.
Tumblr media
It’s about a literal alien monster with no home coming to a planet and town where he doesn’t belong and being adopted as one of their own. Even after he destroys everything they love and build. Spin that into a metaphor for how terrible colonization is, if you can.
- Lilo & Stitch is NOT about the hardships people with dark skin inherently face.
Tumblr media
It is about the hardships of people who lose family members and have to adjust to loving someone new. Nani is struggling to keep Lilo because she’s an 18 year-old orphan trying to play mom to a little sister who just needs someone to be her friend. She’s losing job opportunities because Lilo is trying to accept a destructive monster into their family with destructive results, not because she has dark skin.
- Lilo & Stitch is NOT about the evils of racism.
Tumblr media
Lilo & Stitch is about an alien learning the meaning of family. Lilo explicitly demonstrates a hatred of tourists (not white people, just tourists, because Cobra Bubbles is implied to be a tourist in the same scene.) in one scene and that scene was deleted because it took the focus away from other scenes which made the point of the film more clearly. If a bad light is put on tourism, it’s to emphasize that Lilo has a problem with people leaving—”I remember everyone that leaves; I need someone who won’t run away; You came back; nobody gets left behind.”
And finally, drumroll please:
-Lilo and Stitch is NOT about celebrating diversity.
Tumblr media
Celebrating diversity is a fine message. It’s just not the one Lilo & Stitch is delivering. You’re thinking of Ice Age 4, where all kinds of animals make up a family; or Zootopia, where all all kinds of people can perform different jobs in society.
No. Lilo & Stitch is about what family means, and that is: unconditional love. Loving you at your worst and helping you to be better.
 The fact that the social worker is black, or male, has nothing to do with that main point. The fact that the Grand Councilwoman is female has nothing to do with the main point. The fact that one alien is skinny and one is fat has nothing to do with the main point. The fact that Nani and Lilo have dark skin has nothing to do with the main point—just like the fact that Stitch is blue has nothing to do with the main point.
Those factors might help in a peripheral way—(blue is the color the human brain associates with supernatural creatures; dark skin = Hawaiian = believably being brought up on the philosophy of ‘Ohana) —but you could still change any one of those things and it would remain Lilo & Stitch.
By contrast, with a film that is actually about celebrating diversity like Ice Age 4, if you change the hedgehog into another mammoth you lose the point of the story. Or in Zootopia, if you make Judy and Nick both bunnies you lose the point of the story. Diversity is a fine point. Whatever. But it’s not the point of Lilo & Stitch.
Tumblr media
FORGET what you are hearing on Twitter in relation to the Live Action Movie. You can say what you want about how much you wish a certain shade of skin were representing the characters you love.
But if, to make your point, you try to argue that the original had ANYTHING to do with specific shades of color, demonstrating colonization and racism evils, or representing the hardships of POCs trying to get a job, you are being disingenuous. Or worse, you’re just tossing the real point of the movie carelessly over one shoulder so you can wedge a cause that it was never championing in where it doesn’t fit.
Try and make your point about how skin color and representation matters all you want, but you can’t honestly do it using the example the original movie set. The point of the original movie is just bigger and better than “skin colors should be given more attention.”

List 5 facts about a favorite sim of yours, and send this to 10 simblrs whose sims you adore ♥♥♥
Tumblr media
Thank you! Let's do the mad scientist today! 💕
1. Out of all my main eight characters, she is the one most likely to kill someone without any hesitation. And it’s not even that hypothetical. She literally almost murdered Emit Relevart, the only thing that stopped her was realizing she kinda needs him.
2. Hard to tell which one of the eight is the most traumatized hehe, but Bianca, being the only one who didn’t have the memory of Zoey completely erased, is kinda up there I think. Imagine being the only one to remember there’s one more member of your family, no one knows but you, and they’d think you’re crazy if you brought it up. Well, it wasn’t easy for Bianca, which is why she cut off almost all contact with them and said she’s too busy to come home. Truth is, it just hurt too much to be around them.
3. Okay wow all these facts are dark huh. Well, that’s just how her life is after Zoey. Kinda miserable. But she never complains. She just locks it inside her and burns it down later. Yeah, she actually burns things when she’s angry and needs to blow off some steam. Fire witch and all. It makes her feel better, and it calms the urge to set Emit Relevart on fire.
4. On her many journeys to alternate universes, she’s seen many versions of her family, alternate siblings, alternate versions of her own actual siblings, sometimes she was an only child, you name it. It was one of the most mentally draining parts of her attempts to find her real sister Zoey, the one from her universe.
5. But nothing could prepare her for when she entered a universe where she herself was dead and left behind an orphaned child. Anyway, that alternate universe’s Bianca’s sister was taking care of the child after their real mother died, but well, “taking care” is a strong word, she hated them, she hated her sister too. She abused the child. You know how I said Bianca is the one most likely to kill someone? Yeah, let’s just say she didn’t leave this universe quietly when she found how the woman was behaving towards the child. She took them to her world and left the alternate sister to burn. Yeah that’s right, I’m just gonna drop this here so casually. ✌😎

do you have lots of wips at the moment? if you do, can you pick a favourite or is that like asking to pick a favourite child lmao
When I saw this ask I was watching a movie with my mom and thought I'd answer it later, but I was tired and just went to sleep. In the morning I realized I forgot to do my lab report and by the time I was done with the lab for that day and returning home I had forgotten about it... and that's how I find myself here, 5? days later answering it. Idk how I remembered it honestly.
Apart from some short stories I usually write in my notebooks when I get bored in class, I have two wips I'm working on. One is an orginal fantasy story that I've been slowly writing for a while now and the other is a fanfic that I'm writing for the audience of exactly 4 enthusiastic readers. Honestly it's easy to pick between them, it's my original wip. And now I'm going to rant about both because I'm in a good mood.
Some sort of a summary for my fantasy wip would be: Sixth year of reign of high empress over the newly conquered empires begins with her murder and a heart of the former crown prince of the enemy empire missing from the shrine. What follows is the return of her exiled younger brother to take up his position as the new high emperor, and a violent rebellion fueld by old uncommon illegal forms of powers and lead by a group of batshit insane individuals whose leader is the dead crown prince with a personal vendetta against the new emperor on top of wanting revenge for his empire getting decimated. My personal fave characters to write are the faithless priestess whose entire family is a casulty of war so she got sent to the altars to serve gods as all orphans do except she started dabbling in uncommon powers for fun because they keep a lot of top government secrets at the altars (politics and religion are closely intertwined) and the more she was listening about gods the less she believed in them. That eventually lead to the main goddess becoming interested in her and assigning her as a babysitter to the main character/villain who decided he will simply not follow the normal life cycle and you know.. just not die even though he had his heart ripped out until he gets his revenge (it's a bit more complicated than that). She becomes his most trusted advisor and general and spy and weapon all in one. I also LOVE writing his sister so much, she went from being a little well sheltered princess in the times of war to being gifted to this pirate who helped empress in her war efforts to slaughtering that pirate and becoming the most feared Imperial Storm Mistress. Love the extremely fucked up sibling dynamics she and her brother have going on. Also the emperor! He is so incompetent in running a country but he is trying his best. He is a cringefail, he should have died when he was seven at most (that's the max life expectancy for kids born with his condition - if I'm giving people magical powers but relating that to the physiology then I must give them magic related illnesses), he is super smart, he's been in love with the enemy crown prince since he was like 15-16, he killed the enemy crown prince personally, he is the reason his sister won that war, he does nothing but laze around all day but he will commit mass murder if needs must, believes he's a better person than his sister but is actually much much worse. I'm not even going to get into the main villain/character because that idiot is severely fucked up. Honestly the actual chapters of the story come together with pages long documents on politics and history accounts and explanations of school and law systems, religion, the customs and etc. You know you're in too deep when you send your friends a report on agriculture in a fantasy setting you've made up in your mind. Oh and the magic system is a government scam. There's necromancy and human sacrifices, and weird immortality principles in a society that seems to be perfectly functioning but is actually severely messed up up. The main character is obviously doomed by the narrative, but he's fine with that.
The fanfic I'm writing for my friends is a Bungou Stray Dogs fic I've started in 2020 after a series of funny circumstances and I finished it but one friend who only started watching it this winter because the rest of us wouldn't shut up about season 4 and after she finished watching it, she was sent the famous word documents and she was like wait that's it? Because it ends around the point in plot where season 4 starts (she hasn't read the manga), and she kept spreading the gospel of how messy things could get if I continued it and what am I but indulgent. So I recently continued working on it, except I'm an extra slow writer. It's a story that starts as a canon divergence, then follows canon for a bit but makes things more unhinged, and then diverges from the canon again. Friends have also been bothering me to put it up on ao3 because who wouldn't want to read about "a character doomed and haunted by the narrative is actually the one narrating the narrative but it's unclear whether the objective is to fix or destroy the narrative". I don't think I will upload it tho, so that's it about that.

I just finished the crossover. Spoilers. This is a half baked rant filled review from both a RWBY critic and a life long DC fan.
This animation was wonky even for rwby, there wasnt any fights choreography that stuck out to me and I just finished watching this like an hour ago. Like it was so boring my mind was just not intaking anything that could stand out. Even V5 and V9 had some good fights, and both of those volumes got huge budgets cuts because of some other project being released at the time (genlock and this crossover)
The dialogue was just such a mess. And the voice acting oy vey this was rough. Rwby usually has great VA work from the main's at RT, the funimation crew, and a boat load of others. This just felt so off, like the cast was just asleep. Did the voice director just give up like a minute in?
This story was such a mess too! I know combining 2 seperate universes is always tough I wont lie, but converting DC characters with too many varying powers, Supermans multiple powers, wonder womans godly gear, Batmans Bat-everything, Flash' speed force, Cyborgs various tech, Jess' rings many capabilities, and Vixen's animal powered necklace, its all too much to convert to 4 set abilities. Semblance, Dust, Faunus additions, and Rwbys "its also a gun" weaponry isn't enough to fit what I listed off above. Just send the rwby characters to the DC universe.
And side note, just use the teen titans. No power scaling argument needed, their strong but not stronger than the league and are still stronger than the RWBY verse. Imagine Ren and any Robin understanding one another about being orphans, or any Robin and Weiss getting some development about their rich dads. Blake and Damian can get along over their troubled past, or even Starfire and Blake since their the minorities (Tamaranian and faunus) of their teams, or Raven and Blake being goth baddies! Superboy and Yang, anger issues, Yang and Cyborg, learning to live with disabilities. Imagine the chaos of Nora and Wally west and Beastboy. Hell you could even substitute the Jessica plot with Raven struggling with her powers. Theres so much more potential here!
And jesus they did not handle the rwby characters any better. They were all so full of themselves and acting high and mighty comared to the experienced hero's. I'd argue that its cuz the league isnt all there and cant remember everything. But RWBYJNR dont remember anything either! Their all in the same boat so why are rwby treating like the league hasnt fought worse threats, as mentioned Brainiac(an alien with 12th level intellect) and Vandall Savage (an immortal from the caveman times) and while im at it why is a guy thats running a breaking and very obvious simulation a such a big deal anyway?
Shipping, oh damn right im going here. I dont wanna see it, No Superman x Ruby, no Batman x Weiss, no Wonder Woman x Blake x Yang, no Jessica x Jaune, no Cyborg x Nora x Ren. NO! NONONONO we arent doing this. Did we not learn how problematic Starco was? Did RT not learn from Ryan Haywood that grown adults and teenagers shouldn't go together? Seriously im starting to think RT has a problem, I know thats an understatement but at this point im calling it a prediction.
Alright time to speed run these individual character issues
•Batman's arc on staying on Remnant was dumb. Gotham is his soul purpose, and he doesn't need powers. He has never needed them, he's always been able to overcome and keep up with these gods with his wit, skill, and tech.
•Yeah Weiss was just Batman's sidekick. She felt so disconnected from the plot I thought I was looking at V4-5 Blake. Plus why was she so persistent on keeping Batman in Remnant? Was her daddy kink that bad, is she just into older men who are trapped as teenagers? Gross.
•Superman and Ruby's arcs were weak. Ruby leader arc was just so lame, like her significant leader moment was just "sneak jessica and jaune away for a sneak attack" jesus that was lame. And Superman didn't have an arc really, his semblance unlocking, leadership, and blame for getting trapped was all super undercooked.
•The Wonderwoman, Yang, and Blake dynamic was so forgettable. Like I genuinely couldn't remember that arc, was it like a warrior thing right? And were they like... flirting? Really? NEXT!
•Oh god go back to the other one! Not the Ren x Nora x Cyborg love corner, couldnt they have done something else with these guys? This is just sad. Shame on you RT
•Oh yay, Jaune mourns over Pyrrha again. This is after V6 right, so did we have to focus on Pyrrha being desd again? Like come on let her rest, even DBZ doesn't bring up Krillin death as much. I do admit, Jaune helping Jess out was nice, their interactions were sweet.
•I did like Jess' anxiety arc, I think it was handled very tastefully and was a great way to write her character. She's too fucking adorable, her VA was one of the good one's. This actually gave her some great spotlight that we dont see much of besides DC superhero girls
•And I actually liked Vixen, design was fine and the voice was good, even if her power was heavily underutilized. But she was cool
•Barry what did they do to you? Oh Barry no! Why did they flash and make him so... nothing!? He looks like Bart and Wally mixed together. And he's the twist villian? Why didn't the technology based supervillian yake over the technology based hero!? Barry was so boring, I knew he was gonna be a side character but bro why make him the boring twist villian?
•Killg%re. Oh fuck if im not using the percentage thing im not censoring it this crossover makes me too angry to follow the rules. So boring. He calls himself so brilliant and smarter than Brainiac and Vandall savage yet his simulation was so easy to pick apart cuz the grimm, their freinds and family, their timezones, and even their own memories are so muddled anybody can pick apart this is a dream! His plan was so bad, stick the league in another dimension? Good so far. In a simulation, okay it can work. Turn them into teens so their hormones kick in? No, moronic, i hate it, I hate this! And look, out of every villian, why Killgore? The idea of a crossover is to grab your big guns and use their names to gather up your audience. If you wanted a lesser known villian who can alter reality go with BatMite, Mister Mxyzptlk, reverse flash, the Legion of Doom, or jesus anybody? Not somebody so forgettable that even KGBeast is more recognized than him.
Well atleast it's over... wait, part one?
NnnnoooOOOOOO-

Note
You do not by any means have to answer all of these, but I love when people talk about their own writing, their writing process, and where they got started with fanfiction (especially since you're the writer of a banger like tabula rusa!) so; 4, 18, 23, 28, 33, 44, 48, 49!
I only just saw this I'm so sorry!! I wasn't ignoring you at all, I love it when people ask me about my writing <333
4) What is your favourite genre to write for?
I am an angsty bitch at heart, it has to be said. I see a character go through unspeakable trauma and suffering and go: 'huh. I think they need some more of that actually'.
18) Do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?
So many. So, so many. I try to orphan works I'm 100% sure that I'm never coming back to, just to avoid giving people false hope, but there are definitely a lot of them floating out there on the interwebs -- and a lot of WIPs that have been waiting years for the motivation to write to return. Usually, I just lose interest, or I have a new idea that I like better, but sometimes I write myself into a corner (the pitfalls of hardly ever planning, alas) and it's just too hard to get myself out of. I'm not proud, but that's the truth.
23) Do you prefer listening to music when you’re writing or do you need silence?
Honestly I can write either way, but if I am listening to music it's very rarely anything that connects to the story. I know some writers have fic playlists and stuff but I've never had that kind of patience, I just write when I write, and sometimes that has a soundtrack and sometimes it doesn't.
28) What is something you wished you’d known before you started posting fanfiction?
You don't owe anyone your writing. Even if it's a popular story, even if it's been years, even if you left it on a cliffhanger -- this is something I and a lot of others do for the love of the source material and story telling. It's not a job. You can just stop if you don't like it anymore, and that's absolutely fine.
33) What’s the biggest compliment you’ve gotten?
I've always wanted to go into writing professionally one day, and I'm currently on a bit of a detour from that main goal, primarily due to my CFS. Back during lockdown, I was writing a few oneshots for Smallville which was one of the shows I binged over that whole period, and considering it's a 20 year old show I wasn't expecting to get a whole lot of engagement. Then I got the loveliest comment from someone asking if I was published, and if I wasn't why. It made me feel really good about my skill level and ability, because I have been writing fic for over ten years now and although sometimes I will feel like I'm plateauing, stuff like that reminds me that I've actually gotten pretty good at it.
44) What is the last line you wrote?
It is from tabula rasa, although I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it in, as this whole next chapter is being a bitch:
“You need to have a purpose beyond being his child,” she takes a breath, like she’s steeling herself for something, but just says: “and he would agree with me.”
48) What’s your favourite trope to write?
I know a lot of people don't like them, and have good reason for it, but I have always loved reading and writing genderbends. The first one I ever wrote I think was for Stiles from Teen Wolf, but I've since turned a lot of canon cis male characters into cis female characters just because I love looking at how socialisation differs, how differently they're viewed and treated, how they might be fundamentally the same and different etc. Pretty much every fandom I've ever really gotten fixated on has had me produce one of these: I did multiple fem!Jon Snows, a fem!Thor that never saw the light of day, fem!Cesare Borgia (but a fictionalised Cesare Borgia, if that makes it any better?), fem!Umbrella Academy, am currently doing a fem!Spider... hell, I'm probably forgetting some I did and then orphaned. I just love them, they're like crack to me.
49) Can you remember the first fic you read? What was it about?
I cannot - statistically, it was probably Harry Potter or Percy Jackson, or something very similar. Although a very early one I remember reading and loving was a Wrong BWL fic which set off a small obsession at the time.

Okay this is two of my autism Special interests so I am gonna go ham.
Final Fantasy: collecting the 4 Crystals to beat Chaos provides a basic and solid structure. However, anything to do with time travel is generally w bad idea. Even a one way trip to the past can make your party feel like they missed on a reward. However memorable NPCs abound.
4/5 stars
Final Fantasy II: Beating up the evil empire is a classic, but orphan runaways are below general D&D power level, making the start less believable. Also making players remember passwords seems more difficult in an analog setting. Also more powerful temporary allies reeks of DmPC and may effectively take away player agency.
2/5 stars
Final Fantasy III: Orphan start where everyone knows each other before immediately powered up by Crystals works great to ubite the party and become appropriate power level. Having other NOC groups Act as parties serves to make the setting more immersive. And a light and dark world? Cloud of Darkness? Delightful.
5/5 stars
Final Fantasy IV: Fighting the bad empire but giving players a home in the empire they destroy? One guy gets mind controlled out of jealous love? Going to the moon? If your players are willing to have a non linear party and split for the sake of Story this would have all the emotional highs and lows.
6/5 stars
Final Fantasy V: Honestly feels the most like a D&D campaign adapted to video game. Tye party's reason for joining initially and staying together is tenuous but accepted for the sake of the game. The Galuf/Krile thing feels like a way to keep a player from falling behind. Surprise backstory princess? However I don't think this would work without being player driven and as such would not recommend to run.
3/5 stars
Final Fantasy VI: Too many players is a common way to make sure nobody has fun. Maybe a west marches world toaccoujt for players going in and out. Needs a lot of streamlining to be for a contiguous party's campaign.
2/5 stars
Final Fantasy VII: a contiguous party, unified start, easy motivation, with room for player backstory expression. Unfortunately trying to go high tech in D&D is difficult. Try a different system.
4/5 stars
Final Fantasy VIII: working as mercenaries in the same group sounds unifying but can take away player agency. Rinoa/Squall main character linkage/sorcerer nonsense not cohesive to balanced party. Same high tech issues. But also you go to the moooon
3/5 stars
Final Fantasy IX: a charming world with many threats to face. However players generally charge face first into threats. Mist? Space? Whatever Kuja has going on? They would die to Beatrix or feel babied.
3/5 stars
Final Fantasy X: The concept of summoner's pilgrimage creates an inherent player imbalance with all of the players being subservient to 1. Tidus gets isekai'd specifically to fix this but that just shifts which one player controls everybody else's plot. Yevon and it's control and rules would limit player agency. Sin is a cool threat, but maybe fight a different way
2/5 stars
This is limited to the first ten entries because those are the ones I've played and also I can only include ten options.

Well, I got caught up with Remember the Flowers. And considering that doing so left me an emotional wreck at 4 in the morning. I don’t think it’s a surprise that I have a lot to say.
Tumblr media
Now before I get into my spoiler heavy thoughts I want to say one thing: Play Remember the Flowers. I don’t care if you’re not a furry. Just do it. I cannot recommend it enough. If you want a genuinely good and refreshing isekai story with memorable characters, gorgeous art and music, an excellent sense of mystery and incredibly emotional payoffs, you will get all of that and more here, even in its current WIP state. The 13 chapters currently available are worth the experience alone (and it’s free by the way).
Now with that said, allow me talk about just why this game made such an impression on me. FULL SPOILERS FOR UP TO CHAPTER 13 BELOW. DO NOT READ ON IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED.
First and foremost, the structure and delivery of the story is fantastic. You experience the plot over the course of story arcs of about 4-5 chapters each, and every single one does incredible work escalating upon it itself. The pacing is something of a slow burn but every chapter still provides plenty of interesting character interactions and new things to learn about the world. And the payoff comes with the finale of each arc, all of which somehow managed to one up each other in their dramatic weight. The first arc already managed to end on the emotional gut punch of Cooper’s betrayal. The second arc took great advantage of Cyrus dealing with that emotional fallout and trying to adjust to the new status quo despite being more afraid and distrusting than ever, before the devastating revelations of his own past. The third arc has an absolute beautiful exploration of the characters’ relationship, seeing Cyrus becoming truly comfortable around this found family, many of them starting to heal from their own traumas in the fight against Resoom, before leading to an emotional tour de force that completes Cyrus’ character growth beautifully. While I think the dystopian world is interesting, I think it’s this execution and craft of of this story that really elevates it to something special.
Speaking of the characters, they’re also a delight. It’s honestly impressive that most of the actual main cast are as compelling as they are when none of them actually show up until roughly 5 hours in. Pretty much every character with prominent screentime in the first few hours is a red herring. Diana and Damion, who are first introduced as lovable supporting figures in Cyrus’ life who he longs to reunite with, turn out to be long gone given the game’s twist about its timespan. And Cooper, who is effectively the second main character when the story starts is…well we’ll get to that.
Tumblr media
Making the player care about the resistance team when they effectively replace the people you thought were the main cast promised to be a tricky business. Fortunately, the game pulls it off marvellously as these guys are a joy. Aaron is an absolutely precious character, and if you follow my blog you’ll know I’ve gushed about him (and what absolute husband material he is) already. It’s very easy to warm to Aaron very quickly. He’s attentive and affectionate as a friend to Cyrus, especially at a point where Cyrus really needs that kind of friend, consistently selfless, a good leader. He almost feels like Mr. Perfect when you meet him. And that’s because he’s trying so SO hard to be. Learning the truth in Chapter 13 of his journey from an impoverished orphan, to a bitter thug hell-bent on violence, to a man genuinely inspired to fight for what he loves recontextualises his past kindness, but not in a bad way. He acts this way because he’s determined to prove to himself and to others that he’s not the killer he used to be. And he’s clearly holding himself to a high standard, afraid that anything less than his best would be enough to make Cyrus see him as the monster he still believes he is. Even now knowing little about his history with his lover Xavier and the role that played in redeeming him, there’s something powerful in just how much of an inspiration he was to Aaron. We don’t know fully who Xavier was. But we can definitely see who Aaron is now and that is an unequivocally good person. By the time it really becomes apparent that Aaron as being set up as the actual love interest, it’s very easy to already fall for him.
And the rest of the cast is also excellent. Canto’s standoffish nature is contrasted by the fact that he’s just genuinely a funny and entertaining presence in the narrative. Karin’s boundless enthusiasm and energy, mixed with a punch first, ask questions latter attitude but also a genuine love for her friends is consistently endearing. Vita’s quiet, business like manner conceals a character who ends up becoming a kindred spirit, one of the few who can really understand what Cyrus is going through. And their own steady growth to overcome the damage done to them physically and emotionally by Resoom leads to some truly poignant payoffs. Silver, despite being the last character to be introduced properly, more than makes up for it with a strong first impression. His quickly blooming friendship with Cyrus is a pleasant contrast that prevents him feeling the ‘edgy dude with a sad backstory’ trope. In fact, watching Cyrus and Silver empathise with each other over their experiences in one scene, and comfortably joke around each other as roomies in the next, feels natural and cathartic.
These guys genuinely feel like a found family before long. Cyrus’ steadily growing attachment to them feels earned. And seeing him heal from the terrible things he’s endured with a group of people who love and support him is incredibly heartwarming.
But I want to focus my discussion on two characters who particularly stuck with me. The first is the resident bastion of controversy, Cooper, or Lance I guess I should say. Suffice to say my earlier post about how I knew he was a polarising character but was liking him so far aged…interestingly to say the least. Seeing Cooper’s early impression of a rough around the edges bad boy with moments of emotional sincerity quickly come crashing down as he’s revealed to be a selfish merc willing to sacrifice innocent lives for a quick buck was a horrible shock to be sure. The story succeeds at making you genuinely like Cooper and his seeming budding friendship with Cyrus. Which makes the reveal all the more heartwrenching. Any kind of ‘I can fix him’ charm is utterly dismantled. Because even if that was real, even if there was a connection here, Lance still chose to throw that away. And we know now it’s not the first time he’s thrown away people he cares for out of selfishness. Still, piece of scum though he is, I was hoping Lance would make a reappearance eventually as I was genuinely curious where they were planning to take his character next. Especially as Cyrus meets and tries to bond with Lance’s former teammates who themselves have been hurt by the guy in the past.
Tumblr media
What really fascinated me was when we started changing perspective to follow what happened to Lance after he sold out Cyrus. It was definitely interesting to see him at such a low point. Having all his actions bite him in the ass seemed to make him briefly realise how much he’s screwed himself and everyone around him. While spiralling in self loathing he’s forced to admit what a despicable person he’s been and even expresses regret for what he did to Cyrus. It’s clear that there’s a lot of anger, bitterness at his life, grief over his lost friend and pure simple selfishness that’s brought him to this point. But maybe, just maybe, spending time with Cyrus, did make him start to remember what it’s like to actually give a damn about someone else and to be cared about in turn. Reminded him of everything he’s thrown away. For one moment, you think he might be starting to get it. Might be taking that first step to be a better man like you’ve seen hints he’s capable of being…
And then when Artemis brings his old team up, and all those feelings of anger, jealousy, grief and resentment, that thickheaded belief that he’s the victim in all this, comes back full force. And before you know it, he’s in too deep, utterly in Resoom’s pocket and unable to get out of it if he even wanted to, It reminds me of that one scene from Bojack. ‘You can’t keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about it like that makes it ok.’ Much like that show, there’s something so maddening about seeing someone who has the potential to be better being so close to a breakthrough only to slide right back into the same self destructive impulses and be right back where they started.
This man is a fascinating trainwreck of character and I want to study him with a microscope like a cockroach but he also makes me want to rip my hair out. Despite being one of the most despicable members of the cast, he’s probably the one I’m most interested to see where his character goes. As a foil to a cast who all have baggage and have all done bad stuff in the past, but all ultimately make the effort to be better and work for something other than themselves, Lance makes a very effective counterpart. While they collectively heal, he is continuing to spiral, and I can’t wait for the inevitable confrontation, however it turns out.
Tumblr media
And last of all I want to talk about our protagonist, Cyrus Cantwell, who might be my favourite member of the entire cast. The first few chapters do a good job establishing Cyrus as a protagonist with a refreshing amount of backbone and spirit given his situation. His back and forth with Lance (pre-reveal) establishes him as someone determined to get home, but increasingly frustrated over his powerlessness in this new setting. He’s inquisitive, intelligent and empathetic but he doesn’t put up with people’s crap, all of which makes him pretty immediately likable. But it’s the second arc where he really comes into his own as a character. Having been sold out by the one person he’d formed any attachment to in this strange new world, Cyrus’ dynamic to the resistance team is very different. He’s much more guarded. Much more jaded, dead set on getting away from his apparent rescuers pretty much from the word ‘go. But he slowly starts to respond to their unconditional warmth and kindness, the kind he hasn’t experienced in a very, very long time. And he’s gonna need it because this leads directly into the emotional turmoil that is Chapter 9.
This is probably ‘that one moment’ for people who’ve played the game. The truth finally comes out. Cyrus’ history as a test subject of Resoom for 300 years. Centuries of traumatic suffering locked away in his lost memories. And worst of all, the earth shattering revelation that Damion, Diana, his parents, all the loved ones in his scraps of memory he’s been trying to get back to, are all long since dead and gone. The life Cyrus once had is gone and he can never get it back. The delivery of this scene is phenomenal and Cyrus’ reaction over the next few days, from sheer emotional numbness until he finally lets himself feel it with Aaron’s help, is agonising.
Tumblr media
…And yet. Despite everything, Cyrus slowly recovers. Over the third arc we see him carve out a new routine at the resistance base. His new friends support him in that process, and he in turn does what he can to help them. All of which builds up to one more emotional tour de force, yes, even more than the last two.
Cyrus’ return to his old home, after centuries of decay, is a devastating moment of grief, but it’s also one of genuine catharthis. Cyrus is able to say goodbye to the life he left behind and let go. But not before he finds one last gift (and this is what had me almost sobbing at my computer). A final set of messages and parting gifts left buried as a time capsule by his loved ones, knowing they’ll never see him again. Throughout this story, Cyrus has been asking himself who he is in this new reality, with or without his memories. He’s been pulled into a resistance against a despicable organisation who ruined his life, but he’s not sure what he’s fighting for. Seeing these last messages reminds of what kind of person he was and is. The empathy and concern for others and dedication he’s always had. And now he’s ready to fight for both the family he’s lost and the one he’s gained. So they can all live the life they deserved. It’s a beautiful resolution to an arc of self actualisation and identity that we’ve seen play out over all 13 chapters. And I for one can’t wait to see where we go next.
Tumblr media
There’s a lot to love about Remember the Flowers: Its beautiful art, with every character design full of striking personality. The deliberate, excellent pacing of its story and reveals. Or the emotional, poignant journey of self discovery and healing at its core. And I have faith that it’s only going to get even more remarkable from here.

I've said this in many posts and I'm saying it again. When it comes to Manga, Anything can be conveyed through 4 or 5 panels. That's the job of the Manga Artists, that is to convey certain scene in as less panels as possible.
With that being said...
Remember Amegakure Orphans??
Yes.... Yahiko, Nagato, Konan. In Pain Arc, we got to know their side of the story about how they were abandaned as War Orphans and scavenging for food, came under the tutelage of Jiraiya, finding Akatsuki and how shit got spiralled out from there.
All we knew about them was that they are Close Friends with each other.
And much later, when Konan fought with Obito, we get another story about them like how they found Akatsuki and the obstacles they faced during that time.
Tumblr media
Is there anything special from this panel???
Nothing.
All we can understand is that Konan is worrying about Yahiko.
Then How about this???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't have to explain, Do I???
We get it... We are not some blind fools...
Yahiko and Konan loved each other.... Romantically...
It is implied that they both were in love....
It is implied that they both Kissed each other....
All of this were conveyed in just 3 fucking panels. Juuuustttt 3 panels.
Do we really need a romantic story of some Secondary Characters??? No...
Did it serve any purpose to the story? No...
Did we ask for it?? No...
Is it Good?? Hell Yes!!!! It's kind of suggestive and Cute...
Can Kishimoto write romance?? Abso-Fucking-Lutely Yesssss!!!
If he can do this for Yahiko & Konan... Why didn't he do it for SS, one of the Main Ships of Naruto, in Gaiden????
Why didn't he draw something like this for NH in the Naruto Manga itself rather than going to the extent of making a terrible movie???
Why did he draw Sakura to behave pathetically to wait for a Kiss even at the age of 32???
There are people who still claims that Kishimoto can't write Romance properly and how Romance was not the central theme of his story for him to allocate scenes separately, so we have to assume EVERYTHING happened off-screen... You know who I am talking about... Pffft.....
Then what about Yahiko and Konan, People????
Kishi told the Shortest, Sweetest, Cutest romance in 3 panels... Whereas an entire movie and a 10 chapter Arc failed to show anything but a forced cringefest!!!!
I guess he really didn't want his Main Characters to kiss anyone (but each other) in his Manga.

-Sorry if my English is not good, it wasn't easy for me to translate the whole video... Thank you, I appreciate it!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now let's move on to our main topic: 🧐🤯
The man with a thousand face, an expert in disguise, the best agent as well as the father of the Forger family, Loid Forger, or should be known as Twilight!
In the beginning of 2019, the author of the manga with the same name Tatsuya Endo-san showed the manga-anime community how to create an outstanding character, and when he first created the character Twilight/ Loid Forger, many fans girls have to "WOW" because of his handsomeness, amazing talent and being cool~ Despite being well-known as a talented spy by not only W.I.S.E Organisation but also other opposed gangs such as the mafias or even the SSS, no one can ever believe under the cover of a spy is a responsible husband and father of a forged family.
To become a spy of the W.I.S.E organisation, Twilight had to leave and give up everything, his biography and even his real name, so his name is always a mystery. Therefore, "Twilight" is just a codename as he is a super spy. It has a very special meaning: Twilight is a period of time just before it becomes completely dark in the evening (kinda like a very beautiful sunset, not red sunset, more like the sky is a bit ocean blue and light pink or gold, with orange sunset, sometimes have clouds) like the images on the left and the center, the one on the right is how science explains twilight. Now, that period actually represents Agent Twilight as twilight is a time between day and night (how science explains), similar to a spy's duty as they sometimes don't know they work for the good (day) or the bad (night), or they showed the fake identity as a normal person at daylight and became an unknown hero, an agent in the night. On the good side, they are the heroes protecting the world, while on the bad side, they can be little sussy insects destroying the world of peace.
(For clearer information, click this link (because I'm not an expert about astronomy so I really don't know a bit about this).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Twilight's past~~~
At present, there aren't much information about his past. All we know that as an orphan and a victim of war, he had lost his family and friends and there was no one else with him. All he remembers is where he used to live with his parents, which is Luwen - a small town in Eastern Westalis. (read from Spy x Family manga chapter 62, below is the summary)
His childhood~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His father is a pacificist (related to peace)- người theo chủ nghĩa hòa bình in Vietnamese, so he absolutely denied and hated the war scene at that time. I think he was a very awful dad as well, he kept yelling and scolding Twilight as well as underestimating him when he was little whenever he talked about war in front of him, it's like he thought Twilight will get in the way. However, his mother was very nice. She is brave and caring for him, she usually sang lullabies for him at bedtime. However, his parent's opinions of teaching methods were different so it always ended up in arguments, which Twilight usually felt depressed at his parents arguing every day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Other than his parents, he also befriended 3 kids in the neighborhood and they played at an abandoned warehouse that was used for military services, and of course, their favorite game was acting as soldiers. From then on, they gave eachother nicknames like major, general or adviser (how his friends called "Twilight"), and their dream was to join the military together and defeat all the "monsters" from the East. Though a little fun talk and play of a child thought to be harmless, his father disagreed and hit (slapped) him in the face for the lack of knowledge about Ostanians and the thought of war between 2 countries. Moreover, Twilight was also jelous about his friends when they all have gun toys and other stuffs from their parents, so he once lied to his father about borrowing money to buy them. However, inside Twilight was the big guilt, he regretted lying to him immediately. Twilight also decided to stay away from his friends and the warehouse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the "destiny" had arrived. No sooner had a moment been short and peaceful than the army of Ostania arrived and released the bombs and guns, Luwen was their first target. Twilight first-time witnessed the seller of the bakery got killed because of the whole building collapsed on her. He also saw the warehouse where they played was destroyed. Managed to survive the destruction and debris thanks to the helmet he was wearing, however, what left behind him was a deep scar on his head. He and his mother managed to get together and they moved to Kielberg. Nevertheless, it was not long until war, again, destroyed the town. The little boy had just finished fishing and on the way home when he was pulled with the people on the street to a safe shelter. Twilight, he quickly ran out to find his mom. Unfortunately, he couldn't make it on time, he had lost everything, his friends and father (we don't talk about him), and now, his mother...
The reason I didn't call his parents as "mom" and "dad", instead, I refer them "mother" and "father", because I think it was more formal and more acceptable to call like those. And I think calling "mom" and "dad" sounds a bit childish and we are not even related
Tumblr media
His mother's death had left him a big scar on his mind, and that obsession still appeared again in his dreams, make him severly traumatized (like developing thanatophobia- the fear of losing someone you love and traumatophobia- the fear of battle or war, though I don't think Twilight is afraid of battle because he had done so many missions that involved in battling someone or a gang of bad guys, but I'm not sure about the war case). Everyone was all gone, no one else to be right by his side, and the chaos of war was surrounding him. Twilight being abandoned had to survive through this disaster.
Tumblr media
The junior Twilight lost everything he cherished in life, father, mother, friends, dreams, everthing was all gone by the tsunami of war. All remained in his mind was the hatred, revenge towards Ostanian army, the Ostanian and Ostania. Twilight decided to lie his age to join Westalian army with his fake identity Roland Spoofy. From then on, Twilight started to join the fight and the war between Westalis and Ostania by using and mastering the skills of a natural adviser on the gory battlefield.
At present~
After a long while, with outstanding achievements on battlefields, Twilight became the Number One candidate, and was chosen for the Intelligence Organization Westalis W.I.S.E (Westalian Intelligence Services' Eastern-Focused Division). Officially worked for W.I.S.E, on the behalf of a spy whose codename is Twilight. Twilight's spy reputation spreads increasingly, attract the attentions of many dark organisation in and out of Westalis, especially the Intelligence Orgaisation National Security of Ostania S.S.S.
Now as far as we know about Twilight, his lastest mission was completed successfully. However, after that, he was given another mission to approach Donovan Desmond, an important target of the operation protecting peace of W.I.S.E, Operation Strix (read Spy x Family manga chapter 1 or watch Spy x Family anime episode 1).
The request is to form a fake family at the city Berlint and get close to the Eden Academy, where Donovan's son is studying. Twilight also has a new identity, a psychiatrist Loid Forger with a "wife" who passed away 2 years ago (Anya helped him faking that) and currently taking care of the child all by himself (well it was true in episode 1, but then everything changed in episode 2). So Twilight started to find new members for his family, and accidentally met an orphan girl named Anya and a "hot"/beautiful woman named Yor Briar. Unfortunately, what he didn't expect is those 2 real identity. His adopted daughter is a laboratory "animal"(human) coded 007 with telepathy abilities, and his wife is an expert assassin working for the Garden Organisation from the east.
All 3 of them are covering their important secrets, and only Anya knows clearly her parents' identity with her special ability. How will these people's life turn out? And how long will they be able to keep their own secret? All will be answered in the next episodes of Spy x Family... or you can read the manga :))))
So he cosplays. He runs a tumblr blog for his cosplay of the main character from his favorite anime, Attack on Titan. Through his interactions with other Attack on Titan cosplay blogs, he meets Erwin and Levi, whose characters he happens to totally ship with his own. But as Eren gets to know the two out of character, he has to ask himself: does he like their characters or does he like the people playing them?
(Both. The answer is both.)
With the help of some friends and childhood idols, Eren goes into hiding and tries to figure out just who the real enemies are.
“Remember not to go too far from the group, kids. I won’t be able to write your Christmas list to Santa if you’re not here. We’re going to the market first and then the shops. Lucy, come here and I’ll help you with your coat.” Licht said, knowing that the little girl would often have trouble with the button on her jacket. He knelt down expecting her to run to him yet he was surprised to see her with Hyde. Hyde had already buttoned her coat and he was now wrapping a scarf around her.
The orphans crowded around him and they held their scarves as they waited for Hyde to help them as well. Earlier, Licht told them that Hyde would be accompanying them on their walk into town and they all became excited. Their anticipation grew once he arrived. The orphanage was short staffed so Licht should’ve felt grateful that he offered to help him.
However, a part of him couldn’t help but worry how the kids would feel once he returned to the city. The only reason Hyde came to their small town and stayed as long as he did was because he wanted to find his mother. He wouldn’t have a reason to visit the orphanage afterwards. The children didn’t know this and they became fond of Hyde as a father figure. They would be disappointed once he left and the thought made Licht’s stomach turn. They already experienced more loss than one should.
A part of Licht also dreaded the day Hyde left but he couldn’t explain why. Would he miss him as well?
“Why are you just standing there in a daze, Angel Cakes? Do you need help with your scarf too?” Hyde’s teasing voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He started to give him a retort but those words became caught in his throat when he knelt in front of him. He was so close that their knees bumped together. Then, Hyde wrapped a black scarf around Licht’s neck and he easily recognized it as the one he would often wear. “Didn’t you say we need to be a good role model for these kids?”
“I intended to help the children with their winter clothes and I would’ve put on a scarf by myself afterwards. As an angel, I have to help others first.” Licht told him and he pulled the scarf over his nose to hide his blush. The action seemed to be pointless when the warmth that clung to the scarf only made him more flushed. “Don’t make assumptions that I would be as forgetful as you, Shit Rat. You won’t have a scarf if you give me yours.”
“I don’t mind being a little cold as long as I’m able to see you in my scarf. White suits an angel but you also look nice in black.” Hyde winked at him before he stood. He threw the door window open and he crawled outside. He yelled back: “The wagon is waiting, kids! If we finish our shopping before lunch, I’ll take everyone to the bakery for a treat of their choice.”
His words were immediately followed by the cheer of the orphans and their enthusiasm was infectious. Their honest smiles were a reflection of how well Licht raised them despite how difficult running an orphanage could be. He provided them hope and Hyde found that he wanted to do the same—even though it’ll only be one afternoon before he left for London.
“Wait, Lucy, don’t climb out the window! It’s dangerous.” Licht called and Hyde rushed back to the open window where the small girl was perched on the ledge. That only made Lucy feel more confident and she leapt outside. He managed to catch her and Licht kept the other children from following her lead. They both stood at the window and their gaze met.
Hyde expected Licht to yell at him for influencing Lucy’s reckless action and he wouldn’t blame him. He smiled up at him ruefully. Unexpectedly, Licht only rolled his eyes at him and then he tossed out a white scarf. He couldn’t catch it while he carried Lucy and the scarf landed over his head. Even though his vision was partially blocked, he knew that it belonged to Licht. “Wear that so you don’t catch a cold.”
“I’m blessed to have such a sweet angel watching over me. This entire orphanage is.” Hyde shifted Lucy into one arm so he could wrap the scarf around his neck properly. Lucy took the scarf and she helped him. “Thanks, Lucy.”
“You can repay me by buying me a large muffin!” She told him and he nodded. Hyde placed her in the wagon and he tousled her hair playfully. While he grew up with seven siblings, he never considered starting a family of his own. He was surprised by how he came to care for the orphanage because of that. He would miss them when it came time to leave and he promised himself that he would give them a Christmas to remember.
In the corner of his eyes, he noticed a person slip into the alleyway across the street. Hyde wasn’t able to see the man’s face before they disappeared into the shadow. He could only hope that they were one of the men who followed Mahiru. He hid that he saw the man and he pretended to be focused on helping the orphans climb onto the wagon.
The reason he offered to help Licht watch the kids during the outing was because he wanted to draw out the men his mother hired to take Machi. It was safer for him to act as bait rather than Mahiru. Hyde had sense someone following him since he arrived in the village but he didn’t question it. Since he was a Servamp, many people would stare at him and he became accustomed to it. Then, Mahiru told him that a man had followed him and Machi. They could be connected to his mother.
A part of him felt guilty that he was using the trip for his own investigation. He didn’t know how dangerous the two men were or what his mother was paying them to take Machi. Hyde knew all too well what people would do for money. He promised himself that he would do his best to protect the children during the trip.
“Are you ready to go, Lichtan?” Hyde asked him once the last child was safely inside the wagon. “Do you want to ride up front with me or stay with the kids?”
“I’ve never been horseback riding before.” Licht muttered to himself. He hadn’t intended for anyone to hear him but Hyde was standing next to him. The longing in his voice caught his attention and he watched how Licht glanced between the horse and the wagon. He realized that Licht wanted to ride his horse but he felt obligated to sit in the wagon with the orphans so he could watch over them.
Licht gasped when Hyde placed his hands on his hips and lifted him without warning. He was further surprised that he was strong enough to help him onto his horse. He placed his hands on the saddle to keep himself from falling off its back and he looked down into Hyde’s red eyes. “You said that angels need to take care of others before themselves but it’s okay to be selfish occasionally.”
“I can talk to animals but I don’t know how to ride a horse.” Despite Licht’s words, he placed his foot on the stirrup and he threw his other leg over the horse so he was sitting on the saddle properly.
“I’ll take care of that, Angel Cakes.” Hyde gripped the saddle and then he pulled himself up. He sat behind Licht and he reached around him to take the reins into his hand.
He looked down at him to ensure that he was comfortable. At the same time, Licht tilted his head back and his lips brushed over his forehead. The light touch was an accident yet it still made his heart flutter. Licht would’ve kicked him to hide his feelings but it was impossible while they were riding the horse. The only thing he was able to do was sit with the growing feelings within him. In his arms, he couldn’t feel the chill of winter around them.
“Licht.” Hyde whispered his name and his warm breath brushed over his hair. He would often refer to him by nicknames or endearments so he was surprised to hear him use his name. He nudged his hands and then he slipped the reins into his hands. “You don’t know how to ride a horse so I can teach you right now. My horse is well trained so you don’t have to be afraid. I won’t let you fall either.”
“Okay.” Licht said. Hyde didn’t let go of his hands but he guided him to flick the reins and signal for the horse to trot forward. “I trust you.”
Tumblr media
“Doesn’t that cloud look like a cat, Machi? Well, it might be a little difficult for you to say because you’ve only seen a cat in the storybooks Kuro reads to you. It’s winter and we don’t see animals outside as often.” Mahiru pointed to the sky but her attention was on the knitting needles resting on his knees. He placed them out of her reach and she pouted. Her disappointed expression vanished as soon as Mahiru lifted her out of the baby sling.
He placed her on his lap and he was careful to keep her balanced as he resumed knitting. Machi took the end of the blanket and buried her face into the wool. He doubted that she was cold when he wrapped her in layers of clothes.
Mahiru thought he should take Machi outside so she could enjoy the fresh air and cool breeze. They couldn’t take a walk throughout town because the person who wanted to kidnap her might follow them again. So, he carried her outside to Kuro’s backyard and sat on the porch with her.
He bought a basket of knitting material so he could make a blanket while Machi observed the world beyond the living room. She let go of the blanket and she grabbed the knitting needles. She imitated his earlier actions and she moved the needles in a circle.
“I brought you outside to enjoy nature but it looks like you’re more interested in knitting. I can teach you once you’re old enough.” Mahiru didn’t know whether it was right for him to think so far into the future when he was uncertain of his relationship with Kuro. The disagreement he had with Kuro replayed itself in his mind and he let out a heavy sigh. “Maybe I was too harsh with Kuro.”
“I should’ve known better than to argue with you when you’re like a protective lion with their cub.” Mahiru heard Kuro’s voice behind him. He had a steaming cup in his hands and he placed it on the porch as he sat beside him. “I thought you would be cold so I made you tea. I’ll hold Machi so she won’t try to take the drink from you. She’s like a cat and she tries to grab everything.”
“Thank you for the tea, Kuro.” He said and he picked up the cup. His throat suddenly felt dry but taking a sip of the tea didn’t help. Mahiru couldn’t face Kuro so he stared at his reflection in the mug. He wanted to help Kuro raise Machi and find his mother. However, he was beginning to worry that his feelings for Kuro had made that simple wish complicated.
The only sound between them was Machi happily babbling to herself as she clapped her hands. Kuro had seen Mahiru sitting in the backyard with Machi and he thought he should apologize to him. He intended to protect him but his words had hurt him. The reason he left him years ago was to save him from heartache yet he made Mahiru sad once again.
When they were lovers, comforting Mahiru came easily to him but he was at a loss for words now. “Maybe I should go back inside. I’m sorry for bothering you.”
“Don’t go.” Mahiru grabbed his sleeve before he could think better of it. He had reached out to him instinctively and he didn’t know what he should do next. He nervously licked his lips when Kuro looked down at him. The action drew his attention to his mouth and he was tempted to steal a kiss from him. “I think we should talk, Kuro. Did I cross the line this morning?”
“No,” He shook his head and his answer made his shoulders relaxed. Kuro shifted closer to Mahiru and he told himself that he only did so for Machi’s sake. She waved her hands towards Mahiru and he understood the request behind her gesture. Deep inside, he knew the true reason was because he wanted to be close to him once again. He gently brushed the snow from his brown hair. “I know you want to help Machi but your plan would’ve endangered you, Mahiru.”
“There was a risk but I’m willing to take it for Machi’s sake. Your house is beautiful but we can’t keep her hidden here forever. She should be able to explore the world without worrying about someone kidnapping her. She had a lot of fun when we took her to pick a Christmas tree and I want to give her more memories like that.” Mahiru placed his hand over Kuro’s. “I can take care of myself so it hurts when you didn’t trust me with the plan. Anyways, I have a few questions for the men myself.”
“It wasn’t a matter of trust but…” Kuro’s words trailed off as he thought of whether he should tell him the reason he didn’t want him to act as bait for the plan. On one hand, he wanted to reassure Mahiru after their fight. He was also afraid that it would make them both hopeful for a relationship they couldn’t have. He took a deep breath and confessed. “I don’t want you to get hurt, Mahiru.”
“Because I’m someone who watches over Machi, your friend, or your past lover?” Mahiru’s fingers trembled around the warm cup as he listed each aspect of their relationship. He didn’t answer him immediately and he was strangely grateful for the silence. What did he want Kuro to say? He was still unsure of their relationship and it was best if they kept it simple.
Mahiru lowered the cup into the snow and then he picked up a leaf resting nearby. He held it in front of Machi and he twirled it between his fingers. The unique image and swirl of colours created when he spun the leaf fascinated Machi and her eyes widened. He tickled the leaf against her cheek before he released it into the air again. “Let’s say that you care for me as your friend.”
Mahiru started to stand with the intention of returning to the house. He gasped when Kuro took his wrist and he pulled him back down. His foot slipped on the snow and he placed his hand on his shoulder to keep himself from crashing into Kuro and Machi. At the same time, he let go of Mahiru’s hand to place his hand on his hip. The touch was loose so Mahiru could’ve pulled away from him if he wanted.
The longing in his red eyes kept him spellbound. For a moment, they stayed frozen with Mahiru leaning over Kuro. His hand moved up from his waist until he could cup his cheek. “I can’t lose you.”
Then why did you say we can’t be together a year ago? Mahiru wanted to ask but he kept the question to himself. He lifted Machi from Kuro’s lap and he kissed her forehead. Then, he leaned forward to kiss Kuro’s cheek. “I’m not going anywhere. I promised I would take care of Machi, afterall. I’m going back inside so Machi will be warm but you can stay out here. Come back in before it gets cold.”
Remember that Mahjong Tournament is today as well! If you are confused how the game work here’s an explanation:
In a way it is like poker but instead of making the strongest hand out of 5 you are making the strongest hand of 13 + 1 drawn block.
There are 5 characters type: Manzu (the ones with the Kanji Numbers on them), Pinzu (The circle ones), Souzu (the Bamboos), Winds (The Black Chinese characters), and Dragons (The Blank, Red, and Green characters)
Tanyaohai (simples) are made up of 2-8, Jihai (honor) are made up of winds/dragons, and routouhai (terminal) are made up of 1 and 9. This important for the point system.
Tumblr media
The most common way to win a deck is to form 4 sequences (three numbers in order)/triplets (3 of the same number) AND a pair, however this is not always the case.
When a player calls Chii, they take the person who was going discarded piece to their hand to form a sequence of three. They then show the sequence up and the deck is no longer a closed deck.
When a player calls Pon, they take the person who was going discarded piece to their hand to form a triplet. They then show the triplet up and the deck is no longer a closed deck.
When a player calls Kon, they take the person who was going discarded piece to their hand to form a quad. They then show the quad up and the deck is no longer a closed deck.
When a player call Riichi, they are one tile away from winning and have a closed hand. They then turn the piece sideways so everyone will knows and will pull until 1) the draw the piece they need leading to a Tsumo OR 2) Another player discards the piece they need allowing them to take it and form a Ron
Tsumo is when you draw the piece you need, afterwards you take point from everyone equal to the amount you gain (which I’ll cover shortly). Ron is when you take a players discarded piece to complete your deck, you then take points from them based on the amount your deck is worth.
Currently they are playing on Mahjong Soul (which I always get DESTROYED on ;-;)
Tumblr media
Every hand need to fill a requirement to win, this called a Yaku. Yaku are sets and patterns to win and affect the value of one hand which gets them points. The strongest hands are called Yakuman and EXTREMELY difficult to get (Kuzuha has gotten one before called Thirteen Orphan).
A hand one away from winning is called a tenpai and a hand without is called a noten. Current only Kaede Higuchi has won with a noten in a Mahjong tournament as I know of, otherwise it is near impossible to win.
Now you might ask well how do Mahjong calculate points? They do so with Fu and Han. Fu are calculated based on the points of whether the pieces are open or closed. Everyone starts with 20 fu. Sequences are worth 0 fu. Triplets and Kan are worth based on whether it’s simple or not (see image below)
Tumblr media
Another way to get Fu is by your wait pattern for the last piece in a sequence or pair. Aside from waiting for two pieces (ex. Having 4/5 and waiting for 6 or 3) which gives you 0 fu, all other waiting patterns for a single piece will give you 2 fu (ex. 1/2 waiting for 3 OR East wind waiting for another east wind for pair). There’s also Yakuhai but that shit so complex I do NOT want to explain it at all.
Han is your main method of scoring. Each Yaku (or winning hand) is given a Yaku amount most of which rank at 1 or 2 Han. A yakumen (super rare hand) typically get more and can give you 6 Han.
You can also get han with Dora (tho Yaku are more important). Dora is represented in the corner of the screen with a piece flipped over, the Dora would be the piece following it (ex. Piece shown is 5, Dora is 6), here’s the Dora example for winds and dragons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additional Dora can be revealed overtime thanks to uradora and kandora. In the case there is two of the same Dora indicators, the next piece is worth 2 han. (Ex. Two piece of 5 bamboo, would make 6 bamboo double points)
Now after all this info you’re probably like well damn I still don’t understand shit, yea technically me neither. The most important is just understanding the blocks and their patterns as well as the different combo they make with sequences, triplets, pairs, or quad. Point system does play a big part but personally I still don’t get anything either so I just watch how the game is going. Hope this kinda helps with the viewing experience!
