❝ i could have told you that wasn't gonna work , y'know . ❞ dean tucks his hands into his pockets , teeth worrying at his lower lip before he looks over to the door - head tipping a little . he'd very much like to just shoot the door open - but if mary can't get it open , his gun isn't going to do much good , either .

Stranger Things?
And the winner is...
Mike Wheeler!
Also sorry for the delay, Anon. Got hit with the Real Life Crazies (in a good way)
Mike is actually still undecided in my main verse, though I've narrowed it down to alpha or beta, though I've been leaning towards alpha because I think that lends a specific flavor to his clashes with Lucas in particular that works well with my overall plan.
I also think they both fit the general mold of "Mike's gender isn't really every something he's had to think about much or in depth," which in the context of my Stranger Things worldbuilding (that I talked about more on the post for Robin) leans a bit more beta actually.
You see my dilemma. XD
Mike is, at least at the beginning of the show, the leader of the party, as befits the DM. (Remember that the primary narrative structure of Stranger Things is D&D and that does have to be considered.) He tends to be the one to take charge and make decisions for the party as a whole, though whether or not the whole party agrees and goes along with it varies wildly.
In the context of the party as a pack, specifically a baby pack/puppy pack/First Pack/whatever terminology you go with, it does mean he is probably, as he gets older, a bit more aware of the emotional states of his packmates then in canon. It doesn't mean he knows any better what to do about said emotions (Pack Alpha or not he is still a teenager figuring his shit out with the rest of them) so the overall fallout is more or less still the same.
Alpha!Mike would mean that he also struggles a lot more in-between seasons 3 & 4 when the party is split up, especially with Will and El, his pack omega and girlfriend respectivly, outside his territory and away from him. He would have even more anxiety about it and, ironically, be more determined to hide that from both of them.
The Party as a whole has a slightly off-beat view of gender and gender roles, using the 80s repressed mindset as the norm, because of their immersion in the sci-fi and fantasy oriented sub-culture. (This does mean there are some grossly exaggerated misconceptions they do have, in opposition to the extreme minimization of a good portion of the distinct alpha/omega traits in particular. They'll figure it out eventually.)
It adds an extra layer of tension to Mike and Lucas' clashes, and also Mike and Max's. Little baby alpha's butting heads.
in the shipping context:
For El, who does not really understand gender as a concept and is still figuring all that out and how it relates to her, it honestly doesn't really effect them that much, except maybe reducing Mike's obliviousness just a smidge (though not doing anything about either of their awkwardness)
For Will, it would actually make that pairing a bit more socially acceptable. Not totally, but it would be less of a "likely to get hate-crimed" and more of a "people would dance around it in conversation and a lot of people would probably feminize Will because they are all about their manufactured dicotimies." So ultimeately it would come down to how Will felt about that last point probably.
(I don't put a whole lot of thought into shipping for The Party tbh. They're awkward baby teenagers figuring themselves out in-between trying not to die. I support them and hope to survive the continuing saga of second-hand embarassment.)

What is HAPPENING with DC Films?
Wonder Woman is the biggest movie of the summer, breaking all kinds of records, and successfully lighting a path for DC Films after Zack Snyder’s grimdark vision didn’t pan out. Wonder Woman should be the future of DC Films, but while yes, a sequel is in the works, what Warner Brothers and DC Films have done over the last couple of days is respond to this success not by focusing on what made Wonder Woman a hit, but instead by greenlighting a bunch of Joker movies and basically steering straight into the ditch. On top of the Joker origin story not starring Jared Leto that no one wants that I posted about yesterday, Crazy Stupid Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are finalizing a deal to make a Joker/Harley Quinn movie, which will star Margot Robbie and Jared Leto, Third Best Joker. So basically, filmmakers best known for romantic stories are making a movie about an abusive relationship. Super good.
But wait! It gets crazier! Because buried within the Joker/Harley news is the tidbit that Matt Reeves’ stand-alone Batman movie—you know, the one that’s supposed to star Ben Affleck—won’t be part of the Justice League series of movies which includes Wonder Woman and Aquaman, and will in fact star a new actor as Batman. Everyone started wondering what this means for Affleck—who seems halfway out the door already, anyway—and if this means there will be two Batmen just like there will be two Jokers. An update walked this back by clarifying that the continuity of the Bat-movie is undecided, which is basically saying, “LOL, we don’t know either.”
So who the f*ck knows what is going on at DC Films. Wonder Woman provides a clear direction moving forward, but after this week, it feels like they’re determined not to capitalize on this moment. And I cannot emphasize enough what a terrible idea a “criminal love story” is if it stars the Joker and Harley Quinn. This is not Bonnie and Clyde, this is “violent abuser terrorizes and subjugates his girlfriend”. You wanna make a Harley Quinn movie? Great—her best storyline is the one in which she LEAVES THE JOKER.
And all this messed up continuity. DC defenders will point to the comics, where there is a robust multi-verse with many congruous continuities, like Earth 2 and Justice League Dark. But convoluted continuity is the #1 thing that intimidates potential comic book readers, and is the most frequent reason I hear for why people don’t pick up a comic book, even if they’re willing. “I don’t know where to start,” they say, overwhelmed by the sheer volume of universes and stories. Marvel’s “it’s all connected” continuity can be unwieldy, but it does serve to streamline the universe into one consistent narrative pipeline. There aren’t multiple versions of the same character running around, and you only have to know the one world.
What Warners/DC is doing is chucking spaghetti at the wall. Five years ago, I’d be way into it because it’s a wild way to build a franchise, but after this summer, you can feel the tide turning against franchises. Batman and Wonder Woman are safe bets, and Marvel should be fine, because everyone trusts them. I’m not saying the whole system will collapse. But that Cyborg movie DC has on tap? Or embattled Joss Whedon’s Batgirl movie? Or Margot Robbie’s female-centric Gotham City Sirens project, which would seem to be tabled in favor of this terrible Joker romance?
I’m starting to wonder how many DC movies we actually end up seeing, is all. DC Films seem disorganized right now, and have apparently decided that doubling down on the Joker is the way to go. At this point, I’m waiting for them to announce a stand-alone LEGO Joker movie and another version of the Justice League but everyone is cats.

I've been thinking more about the Striaton brothers and here's some of the prototype ideas I'm kicking around. I have decided to go with them having been the Shadow Triad, so keep in mind how that would affect their characters. While I don't view them as “bad people,” they're not just a trio of goofy brothers that love to cook. They’re all quite a bit more serious than they let on, and are use to putting up a facade to hide who they truly are.
Continuing off the last headcanon I posted about them, they end up moving to Lumiose once they finally decide to give up on being the Shadow Triad. The big city is useful for both disappearing (since what's three more foreigners amongst a sea of people), but it also lets them keep an ear out for information. While they don't plan to return to Unova, they keep an ear out for gossip about what's going on there, if Team Plasma is acting up, or of word of Ghetsis’ where-abouts. They're not entirely decided on what they’ll do if they hear word of his return, but they figure it's better to stay informed, and they can make their decision later if it ever comes to that.
They open up a small little diner that doubles as their home, with the living quarters being on the second floor and the diner on the first. It's a struggle initially to make ends meet, since between the crazy rent and slow initial business, they're barely scrapping by. But it's not like they haven't dealt with worse, so they persevere and eventually things start to get a little easier. They don't advertise that they use to be Gym Leaders, but word eventually gets around which helps business a bit. Cress might or might not get involved with Siebold as well, which would further boost their reputation.
As far as shipping and possible fankids go, this is a lot more up in the air (since all of the above information is pretty much set in stone). For Cress, I like the idea of him with Siebold. They first meet when Siebold shows up at their diner, since I see him making a habit of occasionally trying out new food places in Lumiose, (you never know where you'll stumble across something truly astounding). Cress is the one who prepares his meal, and while it isn't bad, Siebold still ends up insulting his cooking, saying he's holding back and not achieving his true potential (since the brothers are always hiding part of themselves, this somehow comes across in their cooking. Or at least Siebold claims to be able to taste it). If Cress is going to hold back, he might as well not bother cooking at all.
Naturally this pisses off Cress, who takes a lot of pride in his cooking, so he insists on making something else that will blow Siebold away this time. Siebold admits his second attempt is slightly better, but he's still holding back, and thus it’s still not good enough. They end up striking a bet of sorts, where Cress dares him to come back, saying he’ll definitely make something next time that will leave him speechless. While Siebold dismisses him, saying it’s not worth his time, he is a bit intrigued by him, so he mentions that if he’s ever bored and in the area, he might stop by. If Cress can make something that impresses him, he’ll take back what he said about him not bothering to cook.
Siebold does end up coming back, multiple times, and the two slowly start to become closer. Siebold still often insults Cress’ cooking, but begrudgingly admits he’s getting better. There conversations become less combative and sometimes they’ll share different recipes and cooking experiences with each other. From the beginning, there had always been a lowkey attraction between the two of the them, which only grows the more they interact. While I’m uncertain if they ever get married or just long-term date, they end up with one daughter.
For Chili, I sorta lowkey OTP him with Burgundy, so even though she's an anime-exclusive character, it's not like I haven't already added a gameverse!Drew into this verse, so what's one more! She's much more involved in their lives than anyone else in Kalos, and ends up becoming a close friend to the three brothers (although lord knows she still ends up snarking at/berating them half the time). I'm undecided on how they end up meeting, maybe they’re leasing the building from her father, maybe she's just a regular customer, but regardless, her and Chili eventually get together. Fankid wise, they end up having an older son and younger twin daughters.
This is the one I'm much more hesitant to implement, as it does have more far-reaching effects, but for Cilan, I'm considering having him start a relationship with Clemont. While normally I wouldn't give this pairing a second thought, certain people's headcanons for this pairing have made me start to consider it (you two know who you are)! The issue with this one is that Clemont is married to Korrina, and while I always had the idea that their relationship deteriorates to the point where they probably should consider getting a divorce, they still stay together out of convenience. So a relationship between him and Cilan wouldn't necessarily be happy, as a lot of it would be driven by Clemont being lonely and feeling abandoned by Korrina. They’d be having an affair, and even if Clemont grew to genuinely love Cilan, he would still feel overwhelmingly guilty about cheating on Korrina.
This could go one of two ways, either Clemont eventually calls the whole thing off and vows to never see Cilan again (or at least limit their contact as much as one can living in the same city) or he does end up separating from Korrina to be with Cilan. If I end up going with the idea of them having a relationship, they end up having a son. Even in the scenario where Clemont calls the whole thing off, they still probably end up with a son because I like unnecessary drama.

⚝ not getting enough sleep is something dean is used to, even if he still sort of hates it. though for as much as he wishes he could sleep in once in a while, he knows his own conscious wouldn't allow it - because there was always something out there somewhere that was a danger - there were always people who needed help. ( and besides, he can just catch some z's in the car or whenever he gets the chance )
