Judging from these panels, would it mean that there's no other yorishima exorcist that's still alive (since natori said that the yorishima family "was once" a big name, past tense) in the canon timeline, and that the yorishima we know probably ended his family's exorcism business for good by retiring himself? If so, was the reason tied to the youkai living in his left arm, or is there another cause? And when exactly did he retire— was it before or during seiji and shuuichi's high school days, which was why his left arm appeared with the thick bandages when he gave them the loquats in the anime, but he still lived in the estate during that time, or was it after the two became legal adults, which lined up somewhat with him moving into his forest home, abandoning his family estate in favor of living in isolation?
Tumblr media
And, speaking of retirement, I wonder if we'll ever know why midorikawa told us that the takis were "famous" (which presumedly meant they were strong enough to be well-known) as occult diviners, since tooru herself only ever mentioned what their previous family business entails, and never about their status in the exorcism community? We don't really need this extra bit if she wanted to further establish how tooru has an aptitude for spell-casting, either. Again, there's another "strong" family (whose members are still alive in canon) that went into retirement, but did the taki family lost their power because the ability to see (if they were needed for diviners) disappeared for at least the last three generations (if we assumed that tooru and isamu's parents couldn't see youkai too), or was it due to another reason? How close was shinichiro (tooru and isamu's grandpa) to the matobas that even the current clan head came to pay his respects during his sixth death anniversary; was his relationship with seiji's father strictly resolved around exorcism business, or was anything else involved? Does tooru herself doesn't fully understand the prowess her family once had, hence why seiji was the one who told takashi (and us readers) about it? What would this tiny bit of lore mean for tooru with it revealed this late into the manga, when tooru herself only talked sparsely about her ancestors in previous chapters?

Man that DLC's final boss has got me feeling kinda fucked. I'm kinda depressed about it now that I'm done. Everything else is, was, so good. But I do not like that plot development. I honestly think it is bad. Why did they choose not to foreshadow this in literally any way? Why did Miquella attempt to resurrect Godwyn at all in the first place, then? Practice? Was this really what was originally planned? There's no actual evidence to the contrary so you gotta assume it must've been.
So yeowch...
#sote spoilers#elden ring#tlgtw ooc#literally actually nothing from the base game is resolved. Except where the Land of the Numen were.#That in itself is fine tho--actually. It's clearly a statement: Marika's hair talisman from Shaman Village confirms this for me.#Some things are lost to history or just plain out of reach. And there's nothing anyone can do about it.#We'll never ACTUALLY know who the Gloam-Eyed Queen was--just that all signs pointed to Miquella.#But there's no way to confirm it: Nobody's alive to tell the tale.#So like. THAT part. The extancy of all those unanswered questions. I actually am not gonna lie I kinda really like that. Despite everything#But I think Radahn Consort of Miquella is fucking terrible. “Miquella saw how kind Radahn was” I'm sorry HOW kind was Radahn?#The fucking infinite warmonger who literally explicitly made himself a copy of Godfrey?#There are literally ZERO examples of Radahn being kind in any way. Outside of having one (1) pet horse.#It should've been Godwyn. I'm not even kidding. Godwyn at least is someone who has explicitly succeeded in diplomacy.#Since he befriended his mortal enemy Fortissax and spared the Ancient Dragons by creating the Dragon Cult.#THAT'S something you could point to as an example of kindness. Especially since that's Godfrey's direct heir.#WHAT the FUCK does RADAHN do?????#He doesn't do anything!!! He just kills people!!#We never even get to see what weapon Godwyn used to use!#I don't like it. I think it is not very good.#Rest of the DLC is astounding but how can it all lead up to that? Ah...#Nothing like I had imaged: There's a lot I have to figure out now.

I know there’s speculations about book 7 ending in may because of the soundtrack coming out then 🤔
And I think it would be poetic in the sense that May is silver bday and the “coming of age” aspect
But at the same time, there’s so many loose ends and other story aspects we haven’t explored that it just…would feel a bit rushed?? 🤔 unless they are planning to give us huge updates you know??
I don’t know, I kind of hope it doesn’t end in May because *gestures to book 7* I have so many questions?!?
And if they do end it… I hope it’s not a cliffhanger because me and a friend are planning to have a talk with the devs if that happens 🗡️🗡️

Hey so you said you were doing physical chemistry- my school teacher ochem and inorganic at the same time so I am just gonna ask:
What the hell is up with the d orbitals? Like how they let transition metals change colour and act as catalysts? If you can, thank you!
Hey there!
Ohhhh the d-block elements are really cool! The d-orbitals are funky, what you're asking about here is pretty interesting. I wish I could help you with both of these concepts, but unfortunately we haven't covered catalysis yet, so I really don't feel qualified enough to talk about it. I can explain the part about changing colors though. It's all about the electrons, as usual <3
[Btw I'm actually studying this sort of thing in inorganic chem :D pchem is a whole different bag of bananas.]
So, the d-orbitals. I'm going to assume you're familiar with orbital diagrams - they'll come in handy here. With that in mind, please consider the following ions: Ti(4+), Cu(+), both of which are colorless, and then: Ti(3+) (purple) and Cu(2+) (blue). Sc(3+), Y(3+), and Zn(2+) are also colorless. See a pattern here? If not, let me help you out:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, all the colorless ions have either full or totally empty outer d-orbitals, while the colorful ions have unpaired electrons on their outer d-subshell.
Quick and necessary digression: why are things colorful anyway? You probably know what the general mechanism here is, but just in case you don't, the simplest explanation is that when a photon hits an electron in an atom, the electron can then jump up to a higher shell. Electrons don't like staying up there though, so an excited electron will quickly jump back down to its original shell and release a photon in the process - which we see as colors .
[Yes, it is more complicated than that. Yes, I did greatly simplify it. Please don't throw anything at me, dear physicist friends.]
Now, back to our orbitals.
If an ion's outer d-orbital is full, it means the electrons there have no space to "move". They can't jump from one square (or rather from one orbital) to another because as per Pauli's exclusion principle, there can only be two electrons in a single orbital. Similarly, if there are no electrons whatsoever in the d-orbitals, there's nothing to "jump". Duh. The substance is colorless.
However, unpaired electrons mean there's at least one square (orbital) that can still accommodate one extra electron without breaking Mr Pauli's heart. As photons hit the d-orbital electrons, they keep "moving up and down" and releasing photons in turn - which gives them their color.
This, too, is a huge simplification. In fact, the d-orbitals can also split into levels of different energy and it's those levels that the electrons actually jump between. It's called the crystal field theory and you can look it up if you really want to start crying violently and having nightmares every night. If you aren't in uni yet though, it really isn't necessary. I think my explanation should be enough. I sure do hope it can be helpful :)

My eyes are also focused at two different lengths, which makes object appear slightly bigger in one eye compared to the other (and makes it so when I’m focusing on something close to me it’s clear in one eye and blurry in the other cause the other eye is focused at a further length).
Does anyone else also have this? I’ve never met someone else with it so I don’t really know how common it is!

"Yona was just added bc Nintendo wants people to stop shipping sidlink!" Literally what the hell are you talking about
#yes nintendo is homophobic. no they do not give a singular shit about what their fanbase does??? what are you talking abouuuutttt#they literally dont care what people do as long as they get money??? like what#listen im upset abt yona having so many unanswered questions. mainly she came from another zora's domain#meaning she came from outside of hyrule. so that leads to a lot of questions.#but howww do you come to the conclusion that she was just added as a 'no homo' indicator#dont even get me started on the people genuinely unironically calling this queerbaiting. what are you onnnnnnn#'and oh but sidon said he used to see her as a sister! so its gross and wrong!' sidon literally thought out loud to links face abt how#had things been different and link had gotten married to mipha he would be his BROTHER IN LAW. SAID THAT OUT LOUD TO HIS FACE. so shh#imo. yona was added for one 'ohh wow exciting new character look at this' and two. as a way for sidon's trauma to be acknowledged#bc it was veeery briefely shown in botw. for like. a singular second if you snuck up on him at mipha's statue#but yona's defining scene in totk was her forcing sidon to confront that he wasn't being himself because of that trauma. and that#he needed to let go of the fear around it. if only temporary. because his people needed him.#so tbh?? sheis very important to the plot. she new mipha. admired her. knows why sidon still struggles with this and#how difficult and frightening everything becomes when he views the world through the lens of 'what if i lose someone again'#like. they added yona for his struggles to be spelled out to the audience even further#so to just boil her down to 'ewww woman gets in the way of my gaybies 😡😡😡'. hello. did you play the game.#do you even know who these characters are. quick gimme ten facts about sidons character that you didnt make up for shipping purposes.pronto

Narratively how do you think the QSMP should end?
Obviously this is VERY far away (thankfully, I'm too invested) but I was thinking about the story of the QSMP and what potential endings it could have. Do you guys want a happy ending where everyone leaves the island with the eggs? Or maybe a more tragic ending? Or if you think every character and egg should have their own personal ending like Q!Max, what ideas do you have? I JUST WANNA HEAR YALLS THOUGHTS IM SO CURIOUS

thinking about the identity crisis i went though as a kid cuz my parents had told me very simply that my mom was pashtun and my dad was punjabi and they were both from peshawar and that was that. understandably they had simplified it so much for me cuz i was a kid, but whenever other brown people asked where i was from or "what are you" and i mentioned punjabi and they'd be like oh wow where? lahore? and i'd just be like nope lol peshawar and they would press me about how my dad could be punjabi if he was from peshawar and i just didn't have an answer. when i got a little older, i started saying well borders are manmade, you don't necessarily have to be from one ethnicity cuz you're from a certain area (and i was right! i just didn't know at the time why i was right).
as i got older and i found out more about our family background, it all made more sense to me as i came to know that the punjabi side of us was allegedly from a great-great-great grandfather from gurdaspur who had moved to bannu way back when. but as my interest in linguistics and anthropology and history grew, i realized that my old explanation of "borders are manmade" was true anyway!!! prime examples being speakers of Hindko and Derawali, as well as the Hazarewal community in general. anyways, i could go on about this, but it's all just so endlessly fascinating that i wouldn't know where to stop so i'll stop now.

YES:
-you enter the church.
-there’s a man on the left hand side, tucked behind a piano that’s facing out.
-he is the only thing you can see on that side of the church, though you don’t look around yet, your eyes can not leave him just now.
-despite the fact that he has many candles on top of it, you can not see inside his hood, even with the golden glow.
-you can tell the song is coming from him, but it didn’t get louder when you walked into the room, though it has been accompanied by the piano, instead of just his voice.
-he doesn’t seem bothered by your presence.
-you can feel eyes on your back.
-do you turn around?
-yes -no

i watched the chestnut man, deadwind, the valhalla murders and possibly one more i'm forgetting and the last semi similar show i'd seen mentioned was black spot. and i kept putting it off cause it was in french. no further comment.
but i finally sat down and watched it and honestly? i liked it more than i thought i would. i mean they introduced a gay man with a guinea pig that's nicknamed teddy bear. you got me sold there. but also people just kept dying. and surprise, it was murder. that was also murder. also murder happened here. look we'll kill someone on screen. oh boy, another murder! you're not going to believe this, murder. i liked that. they went in saying the crime rate was high in that town and they committed. y'all got a problem but damn. continue. tell me about the latest murder by all means.
