The Domestic Cat!
Today let’s take a look at a witch’s best friend the cute and mysterious cat!
Scientific name:
Felis catus
Taxonomic Classification:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Felidae
Genus: Felis
Nutritional Requirement:
When a cat is left on its own to get food it will hunt and eat birds, mice, rats, scorpions, cockroaches, grasshoppers, as well as many other small animals. However, since cats are domesticated you can also see them getting their nutritional needs met with some provided cat food ( and sometimes some human food).
Growth and development
Kittens have 2 growth periods when developing into an adult cat. In the 1st growth period when a kitten is 0-4 months old and they wean from their mother. The 2nd growth period is when a kitten is 4 months or older, in this stage, the kitten eats different types of food that meet their needs until the cat fully develops. Cats on average have a lifespan of about 15 years.
Behavior
The behavior of a cat depends on the type but generally, cats are solitary and domestic cats aren't very active because they sleep 12-16 hours a day. Some interesting facts about cat behavior towards humans are that when the meow they are actually speaking directly to a human! When cats communicate with each other they generally don’t meow unless they are a young kitten.
Reproduction
Cat usually begin to mate when they 6-9 months and give birth about 58-65 days after mating. The average size of a litter of kitten is 4-6 and female cats usually have 3 litters a year.
Evolutionary Origins
The earliest evidence of a tamed wildcat was in Egypt where skulls of cats in burial ground where found. The domestic cat most likely evolved from the Felis sylvestris lybica
Habitat
Domestic cats can be found everywhere in the world and do well in all types of climates!
Fun Fact!: Black Cats are actually considered lucky Britan and Japan!

As pet lovers, we all recognize that the connection we have with our cats is very different from the way we interact with our dogs. It's not just a myth that kitties are more independent and self-reliant than dogs .
Today more than 80 million cats reside in U.S. homes, with an estimated three cats for every dog on the planet. Studies have shown that just watching cat videos on the internet can boost a person's energy and create positive emotions, so it's no surprise that actual cat ownership has a number of benefits.
But out of all the animals in the world, why are cats number 1 when it comes to human-animal bonding? Have you ever taken a moment to wonder why we love the feline race so much?
What is it that makes us feel so good when we interact with our cat? Is there more to it than just an emotional connection with our feline buddies? .Thats why i am going to share to you the
7 Reasons Why Humans & Cats Are A Match Made In Heaven
1. They speak to you
A cat’s meow isn’t just for display. It’s your cat’s way of having a conversation with you; telling you about their day, asking you what’s for dinner, when the next cuddle time is.
2. They are cleaning machines
Baths are rarely welcomed by pets, which is why a cat’s self cleaning nature is a very good thing. Cats are designed to keep themselves clean, and they are experts at it. Healthy and happy cats clean themselves regularly — a normal cat can spend up to 50% of their day grooming — resulting in one very pristine feline
3.They’re chilled
An average day for a cat involves 18–20 hours of sleeping — that’s a lot of downtime!
In general, cats are very easy going pets. Essentially, they’re your perfect Sunday partner — willing to lie next to you all day whilst you watch your favourite Netflix show.
4. Stroking them feels good
After a long stressful day, snuggling up with your kitty and petting their velvety fur can be just the thing to help you relax and unwind.
5. They help you release the love hormone
The technical term for this neurochemical is oxytocin, a hormone that is released when people fall in love. Oxytocin has also been proven to increase your emotional perception.
Research has proven that stroking a cat causes a release of the “love hormone” in humans. That allows you to better connect to people and reduce anxiety. And that is called as the Cat Therapy.
6. They’re good for your physical & mental health
Studies have shown that your kitty is a lifesaver…. Literally.
Interaction with cats can not only help heal our bodies but also reduce the risk of heart attacks, lower our blood pressure and release dopamine and serotonin, which help regulate your mood, reduce stress and ultimately improve immune functioning.
All of these incredible benefits have led researchers to describe cats as the unsung heroes of helping humans with physical and mental health.
7.Because they love us
In spite of their sometimes nonchalant behaviour, cats really do love us. They just show it in different ways.
Even though cats may feel love and affection, they can’t show their emotions with kisses and hugs the way humans do. Nor do they wag their tails, lick people or jump up on their favourite humans like dogs tend to.
