It's really strange to me how some people only criticize plastic through the lens of it being "vegan plastic", as if non-vegans aren't also using plastic products, including fake leather. The same with slave labor and crops. Like I've literally seen someone say how harmful vegan vegetables are in agriculture and I'm just like, do you only eat meat??? Do you not eat vegetables??? I just don't understand the whole "if you're vegan and not using animal products then you love slave labor and plastic". Consuming animal products doesn't automatically mean you're not using plastic or buying anything that was produced from slave labor in the same way that being vegan doesn't mean animals aren't getting killed somewhere along in the process of you getting food on your plate. Also, using animal products doesn't automatically mean good for the environment, cuz usually somewhere along the way there's some type of harmful process being used.
I think maybe people don't realize just how ingrained plastic is. It's not some evil vegan villain wearing head-to-toe pleather that is upholding the plastic industry. Take a look around the room and identify everything you see that is plastic. Then think about all the plastic you don't see. And is it really only vegans buying from shein, temu, forever 21, etc? For some people, that's all they can afford, but for so many other people that isn't the case. Is it really so hard to acknowledge that it's literally an exploitative, capitalistic world that has done all of this and NOT vegans? Is it so hard to acknowledge that we all take part in these harmful practices in some way because they've been so interwoven into our society that there's no way to avoid it? What is so difficult to understand about any of that? At this point, I'm half-convinced some billionaires got together and brainstormed on "Who can we blame" and then collectively decided on vegans, and unfortunately some people actually took the bait.
Also, these arguments constantly erase poor people unless it's framed in the context of the vegan diet not being affordable to everyone. Organic, sustainable, fair-trade etc etc products are not cheap. It's not only vegan products that can be non-affordable.
This whole moral superiority (and also flat-out cruelty to each other) can be on BOTH sides and it's really frustrating that the one side won't admit it. Eating meat doesn't automatically make you a saint and non-complicit in harmful practices in the same way being a vegan doesn't either.
It's just...people. People are the worst. The only way to save the planet is for us to literally go extinct.
#Also no one ever admits they eat factory farmed meat#Everyone on all of the posts and threads I've ever been on claims to get local meat#And there's just no way#I know every country has different practices but it can't be that all of the comments I've seen were from people not in the USA#Also idk why people automatically assume a vegan mentioning animal cruelty is automatically an attack on indigenous practices??#I know there's probably vegans out there who do attack them#But I've only ever seen people bring it up when literally not a single person on either side mentioned indigenous people#I think most people regardless of lifestyle choices really just want natives to be able to practice in ways they want to#I also never see meat-eaters acknowledge that some people can't have animal products#Only ever the other way around#Even before I went vegan I have not been able to have dairy since 2018#Like I need to use alternative milk#And like back when I was really poor I could barely afford to eat#If my grocery bill went over $20 in a week I had to worry about which bill I was going to have to pay late or skip over#Like my focus was on my survival and not whether something I was buying was harmful in some way#Anyway#It's just so weird to me as I read through comments on posts how people get so angry#Literally read someone say fuck you to a non-vegan person who was only trying to say there's no way to avoid harm on either side#Like what#I see much crueler stuff come from non-vegans than vegans#Even before I went vegan#Honestly people being so cruel towards vegans was a part of the reason I became one#Because I was always led to believe vegans were the worst#But as I started engaging with more posts and whatnot#I realized it was actually not true#Idk if that's happened with anyone else or not lol#And out of all the online vegan communities I've been on#Really the only shitty one was on Reddit tho I haven't checked that sub in a long time#Vegan#Personal

i think most of the white ppl feeling like they have no culture stuff stems from a lack of connection to their communites. if you go nowhere and talk to no one then yea youre not really participating in the culture of your area. eat produce grown by ppl in your area go to county fairs check out the annual things in your area, thats your culture. like to give an overly simple answer if you live in america then americana is pretty likely to be part of your culture
#put some blue jeans an cowboy boots on if you need a cultural garment#or logger boots/ work boots if those are more historically or familially relevant to you#honestly if you just talk to your living relatives enough you can learn about possible fibercraft your great-whatevers did#i learned recently that a lot of my family lived in tenessee for a few centuries#but my dad is a carpenter and i live in the pnw#my town had some historic logging activity#and is known for its raspberry production#currently we have a lot of local dairy and beef#the grocery store sells cheese and milk from the next town over#this is part of my culture#i do think Americans' affinity for moving across the country from where they were born makes the cultural alienation worse too#but you just gotta learn the cultual details of wherever you end up putting down roots#at the same time#i don't think its very harmful to learn more about older traditions your european relatives had as long as youre not being fascy about it#ppl say its diff with black people learning about african cultures because of the violent supression of slaves' cultures#but like you still get fascy hoteps and shit#and historically there was (much less violent) suppression of non brit protestant european cultures in the US#so like#none of us got to choose how much culture got passed onto us from our relatives#obviously dont start spouting ethno-nationalist bullshit and speaking with an accent based on your ancestry results#but i think its ok for people to adopt practical cultural elements into their daily lives#like cooking cultural foods or learning about the history of that culture#its not like americana hasnt ever been used for fascist ends

its just weird bc with energy usage or whatever, we recognise that telling someone to turn the lights off and not overfill the kettle is a distraction from the unfettered consumption of big industry etc, but when it comes to food suddenly you people are like no no it’s the consumption of tofu that is the real issue here!! I’m so sick and tired of this debate because whether or not you eat meat, as leftists and as people with any care for the environment, we should be united in recognising the harms of industrial animal agriculture.  and at a certain point the choices of foods to get mad at in particular start to just come off like an appropriate outlet for your discomfort over someone else eating differently to you. why is it always soy and quinoa and never corn and wheat?? at a certain point you have to acknowledge that all of us consume plant products, and vegans/vegetarians are a very small proportion of that. plant agriculture is perhaps as ethically and environmentally fraught as animal agriculture, but that means we should desire to improve both, rather than NEITHER

In the newest interview, alvaro said that big chances that professor wouldn't be in the spin off because it's berlin's project and focusing on his new cast or crew. He said this one (Berlin) is separated from LCDP. Does that mean that we wont get Palermo too? 😢 I mean, if the whole 8 eps are just about berlin having fun with strangers he pretends to be friends with, whats the point of watching? The only thing we can hope, maybe the plot would be good, but from the teaser, I too have a doubt about it.
I haven't seen that interview (if those are his exact words, "big chance" is a weird way to phrase it since shooting is done, he's either in it or he's not lol.) Anyway, I wouldn’t take too much away from his words. They are pretty much a rephrasing of what Pina has been saying. They might mean Sergio won't show up at all, or that Sergio will only show up through a cameo, not in as a central way as LCDP. And that makes sense to me either way. I would personally love a cameo but generally regarding Sergio, it makes sense that he wouldn't be present through all his brother's heists and gangs and day to day life (which was already established in canon).
So I wouldn't compare Sergio's situation with Martín. At least on a textual level. Once established that Andrés had met Martín, it would make zero sense that Martín wouldn't be there since we know from canon Martín has been on his side for ten years prior to the monastery flashbacks. And generally speaking, there is not a single character from LCDP that belongs more in Berlin the show than actual lcdp lmfao. Martín's entire construction in canon was in the framework of Berlin.
That's not to say the show won't be about Berlin having fun with strangers for 8 episodes lmfao. That will probably be it. But I'm still in the belief that Palermo will guest-star or cameo in the last episode, as a form of Berlermo's first meeting. And I think if Rodrigo agrees and Netflix grants Pina a second season, he might be a main character going forward. I don't think there is a lot to hope for from the spin-off but I still believe it will be better and more surprising than we imagine now.
#regarding the whole Berlin is different from lcdp thing. it's just so stupid to me#i get that a spin-off should stand on its own legs. all spin-off creators want this to happen. a certain distant from the OG#but when it goes too far it becomes ridiculousl#Pina seems to believe he created a character that's so marvelous that you can generate an endless number of seperate stories from it#but in my view if you uproot a character soo far from his context (especially when it's a main character that you already milked in differe#t scenarios.) then you just lose focus and it ends up failing#ANYWAY I think there is a chance for Berlin to get a second season pretty quickly now whether it's wildly successful or not because of#the strikes#with the uncertainty of when American-produced shows will start production again; Netflix is basically reliant on European and other foreig#shows to keep their audience and subscribers appeased#and Berlin connected to lcdp (One of Netflix's biggest world-wide sensations) might get even more special treatment#lcdp#Berlin Netflix#also cursed idea but I think Pina might be on the road to make Berlin this sort of Pulp fiction adventure protagonist who is in a series of#2638833 books and each story with different cast of characters around him and different story but doesn’t seem to be getting older#or even aware or the things that happened to him in previous stories lol#I'd say the Sherlock Holmes character but in crime fiction but that's what Lupin is lol#it would be a poor imitation but I would find it hilarious if after all those connections Pina is trying to patch together between Andrés#and the new gang#next season he just changes them for a completely different cast and he keeps doing this for 37 more seasons#Netflix forgets he's on their payroll and it's 2035 and 60 smth Pedro is still playing 27 Andrés going on thievery adventures around Europe

Someone the other day asked for our bubble tea "vegan option" and I was just like "? ...it's made with a soy-based creamer by default?" But he was like "No, the honey. I don't want honey." And I was just like. "......Ok."
Dude came in again today and he stank soooooo bad I literally nearly gagged. Bro apparently runs like a mile or some shit to get bubble tea as part of his exercise routine. & it's just like. OK Bro

I think it's a common misconception that domesticating animals is somewhat like enslaving them. It really is more of a symbiotic relationship. No wild animal would have willingly put up with early humans if they didn't get something out of it. Wolves wouldn't have stayed with us and become dogs if they weren't getting food and safety out of it. Many large herbivores that are now domesticated could and would have easily trampled their early human captors or broken their enclosures open if they didn't have a reason to stay. Sometimes individual animals still do if we don't give them what they need.
The animals that have stayed with us for thousands of years have evolved to cooperate with us better. Dogs have additional facial muscles around their eyes that wolves lack in order to mimic human facial expressions. Sheep grow their wool perpetually while their wild counterparts don't because a bigger fleece means they're more likely to be allowed to breed and be kept around. Domestic dairy cows produce much more milk than wild bovine species and domestic hens lay more eggs. Do you know how energy costly producing eggs or milk is for an animal? It's pretty intense! They wouldn't be able to do that if we hadn't given them the food and safety from predators and the elements to.
And we really need to show these animals respect and gratitude for what they give us by taking excellent care of them. They gave up a lot to be with us, often including the means to take care of themselves in the wild. That's a huge reason why I'm not against using animal products, but I hate factory farming. They are still living, breathing creatures with needs and feelings. They deserve a comfortable life and, when the time comes, a humane death.

i never got burying yourself in your work to avoid all your other problems. until now. save me sweet coding work~
#i stop coding for more than 5 minutes and suddenly I'm back feeling like my world is falling apart in real time#my mind becomes Sky Island's Threat music. I only do not feel like this when I'm sleeping or working#you know I'm doing bad when I'm fucking coding of all things to escape it#maybe I should keep this going through my next assignment ay? idk if I'd survive being in constant emotional distress that long tho....#like...I would ideally like to take a break. yknow. for christmas and my birthday#I just gotta. sort my shit out. I have to talkkk to people. even though I really don't want to#i can't just assume things are going to turn out certain ways because of my previous bad life experiences#as much as my heart wants to bury itself in it and never emerge I can't keep. reliving all these bad events that happened like that#I'm gonna drag it out screaming and crying to embrace vulnerability and openness#It's been 5 years I don't think just telling myself to get over it and to be normal is. cutting it#It's not happening. I'm going to have to live with what scars that left me for the rest of my life#so I need to find a way to talk about why I'm like this to people who don't just know#and it's up to them whether they want to give me the support and affirmations I may need. it's out of my control#I...feel a little better now that I have a vauge mindset and plan of action. I gotta wait till saturday to even start tho ehe....#got an assignment due I can milk having to bury myself in work to avoid this till friday#it makes me more productive aha! Guess it's one good thing about this mess dshsdhsd#Android.txt
