Amy smiled widely "What about we start a Clan?" the two women looked at each other surprised "ar- are you sure we know you are busy and-" "oh nonsense, imagine the potential" she looked at Cal her bodyguard. "How about we do something unique..i will give a home but not only to you..to werewolves..to witches to supernatural creatures to feel safe" Cal smiled the two women took in the words "that would be amazing".

Amy the past month gave home and a brand to about 300 vamprires, 200 werewolves 100 witches and wizards and her clan only expanded. Her reputation as a power CEO brought her admiration from all of them.

It was late at night when Amy was in her office working. She suddenly became like someone familiar, always working, being cold. She looked at her Rolex diamond watch, it was midnight. Before she could get up from her chair she felt dizzy.

And when she opened her eyes she screamed in fear. "Cal!!". Within seconds Cal ran inside and gasped. Amy was actually floating "Miss Parker ho--" but then she fell unconscious to his arms as he caught her.

When she opened her eyes she felt her head heavy, Cal on her side. "Drink some water Miss" he said as he gave her a glass that she happily accepted. "What happened..how i.." it was all to confusing for her, but there is only one explanation. Her Bloodkeeper powers.

"Cal i would like to stay alone" he didn't need another word to leave. What the hell is happening to me. She wished she could talk to Adrian, he always did research, he always knew what to say. She signed before she laid back on her bed, hoping it was a nightmare.

The next morning she was a whole better than yesterday. She walked to the kitchen tiredly, her nightmares kept her awake. She always saw weird dreams, a woman's voice talking to her, asking her to embrace her blood.

She quickly dismissed the thoughts and grabbed the chair. But when she looked down it was torn in half. "WHAT THE HELL??!!"

That was the last straw for her. She needed answers but didn't knew where to find them. She was scared to touch anything or suddenly find herself through the air. She hurried to her training room locking the door.

Okay Amy relax..deep breaths..deep breaths.

She couldn't relax. Something was happening to her and she didn't knew what it was.

But then a wide smile that reached her eyes appeared on her face "I have powers".

The next couple of weeks passed with Amy training everyday almost all day. She embraced her powers completely trusting the voice inside her. She could run like a vamprire, have the strength of a vamprire, float like Vlad and so much more she didn't discover yet.

It was amazing, almost a miracle but she didn't questioned it, she loved power. She wasn't helpless anymore she was a leader, a powerful one.

She called a meeting with all her Clan members to announce a plan she had been working on for months.

Everyone was confused on why the meeting is happening. Whispering and conversations could be heard through the room but everything stopped when Amy stepped inside.

"My precious army" she started as her high heel's clicks sounded deadly. "You are here today to hear the best news, we aren't weak we are strong. Stronger than any other Clan but you know we aren't completely approved yet" a few whispers grew in the room "Silence! Tomorrow night i have a meeting with the USA government, my plan goes fantastically" she smiled widely and everyone felt comfort "You might wonder what my plan is" she paused as she walked closer to one of the members "Do you wonder what my plan is?" She asked him casually stroking her cheek "Y-yes Miss" he said with a shaky voice feeling her power running through her veins, he was indeed scared. Before he could react her dagger went straight through his chest becoming ashes. Everyone gasped "No one should doubt me!!" her angry voice echoed into the empty room "Dont have the same fate as him" she said before leaving.

Amy was a scary leader, she leaded with fear and terror. The meeting was tonight, her only problem? It was in New York. The place she never wanted to come back to. She watched the city through her limousine window in disgust, memories running through her mind.

Not long after they passed through Ahmanet Financial and Amy chuckled "i am coming to get you soon" she said smiling knowing Kamilah was in there working endlessly.

She arrived in the building they agreed to meet. Tonight she was wearing a beautiful black dress with Gucci boots and a LV handbag. She looked professional and elegant as ever.

A woman led her to a conference room where 2 men and a woman were already sitting. "Hello Miss Parker, i am happy you came to meet us" the man said smiling "the pleasure is all mine" she said with an evil grin. "I am Mark Johnson i am responsible for the US army" a tall old man said "I am Cecilia Bennett Secretary of Defense" the woman said crossing her arms "And you know me i am sure" a handsome man in his late thirties said smiling "John Pembrooke the president of US" Amy shook his hand stunned. Never in her life she could imagine having a meeting with the most important people of the government. "We took your request into consideration but we are afraid that its impossible" Cecilia said with a look of annoyance. Amy always had an ace up her sleeve "Are you familiar with the Feral problem?" Amy started saying and everyone looked at each other "Do you see any changes? After Adam Vega's death nothing changed with all due respect but the Council isnt doing enough" she proudly sat back into her chair taking in the sight of 3 confused people who are considering. "And it will change if you are added as one of the Clans?" John said crossing his arms "Why yes i am very serious at what i do i think i proved that" she said as she waited patiently. The three of them whispered taking in the advantages and disadvantages of that action. "After reconsidering we approve to make you as the 7th Clan on the Council" John said shaking Amy's hand who smiled victoriously.

The announcement didn't took long to arrive into the council's ears. An emergency meeting was held in Adrian's office. Kamilah was furious pacing around the room "A powerful Clan is added to the council? Thats absurd!!" Adrian signed there wasn't much he could do "i hope whoever that is to be yummy" Priya said licking her lips. "Is this one of your tricks?" The Baron said angrily looking at Adrian "Does it look like it??". Everyone were lost in thought before Lester broke the silence "It was a matter of time until they replace Adam's spot" everyone looked at him confused "Thats probably the smartest thing you ever said" Priya said laughing. "A council meeting will be held next week here so we will see who we are dealing with" Kamilah said with a scary voice.

Days had passed and Kamilah couldn't calm until she find every bit of information about the mysterious Clan leader. Karen knocked on the door interrupting her thoughts "I am sorry to interrupt but Lily is here as you requested"

Lily walked through the office amazed "Wow cool place Kam!" Kamilah rolled her eyes "dont touch anything and if you call me like that again i will cut your tongue" Lily nodded sitting on a leather chair curiously "So why did you want to see me?"

"How is Amy hm?" Kamilah said struggling to say her name out loud after all this time. "Um.. Look i dont want to--" but Kamilah stood up angrily "I said how's Amy?" Lily swallowed hard thinking what should she say " She is fine. Working. In LA" Kamilah looked at her with her red eyes "You lie".

Defeated Lily signed "She is in New York ok? Not for long" and with that she gained a satisfied grin from Kamilah.

The moulin rouge Kamilah thought looking through the papers her assistant gave her. She asked Karen to gather information about the new Clan and she happily found out that the Leader owns a club in New York. "Karen clean my schedule" she said to her assistant planning on giving a little visit.

When she arrived at the destination she saw a big line of people begging to get in. Of course she got in within seconds. She was Kamilah Sayeed after all.

What she didn't knew was that Amy was the owner, even better Amy was there.

As she walked in the loud music played like a drum on her chest. She looked around unimpressed and walked to the bar. The barwoman had wings? What was happening?

"Excuse me isnt it here the Moulin rouge?" Kamilah asked her thinking she found the wrong place. "Yea it is" the woman replied "Should i get you a drink?" Kamilah nodded "One whiskey and make it strong"

Amy was dancing gracefully swinging through the beat when she spotted a familiar silhouette.

Oh this will be interesting. She thought walking towards her.

Kamilah was lost in thought when a familiar figure appeared Infront of her. She was wearing a short gold dress that anyone could see her chest in, black high heels and diamonds all around her. The expensive perfume filled her nose and her eyes drank the sight of her ex lover being so close to her after so long.

"Kamilah? What a surprise" Amy said sipping her Martini. Kamilah didn't respond she was just staring at her lost "What? A cat took your tongue?" Amy said laughing sarcastically. "Okay then i have more important thi--"

"Amy" Kamilah said as her breath caught in her throat. "I give you one minute because i am kind" Amy responded admiring her new nails looking uninterested. Kamilah wanted to scare her off again, she wanted to break her enough to never return back. "What a mewling mortal do to such a cliché club?" There we go again with the mewling mortal thing, little does she know she isnt exactly mortal "I see some habits didn't change Kami, but guess what i did" Amy said before leaving.

Kamilah wanted to order another drink when she noticed everyone gathered around into a circle. Curiously she followed the crowd a man on the middle.

"As you know my fellow members we are reckless, strong, unbeatable and we honour our master with this fight" the crowd cheered loudly, Kamilah scoffed.

"For the new ones here, whoever is brave enough challenge one of us to fight, the winner decides what the loser has to do, but careful" he said as fire hovered over his palm "death is required, and magic is involved" the crowd cheered more and more "who will be our lucky champion?" he said looking around. Kamilah stepped forward crossing her arms "I will"

"Oh that will be interesting, and who will be your prey" Kamilah smiled looking at Amy on the other side of the circle. "You" she said pointing at her. The crowd gasped but Amy stepped forward chuckling "if i win, which i will you will leave New York and never come back" Kamilah said smiling. Amy laughed "and if i win you will move in with me, be my roommate"

Kamilah tried to hide her laugh "Oh sweet human thing i accept your defeat" the man stepped between them "Are you ready? And go!"

Kamilah didn't believe this was happening, her against Amy? Never in a million years she thought about it. If Adrian knew he would be furious, she thought but her thoughts were gone when Amy led her to the empty street. The crowd gathered around cheering.

"We dont have to do this, you can go and never come back" Kamilah said proudly but her pride was erased when Amy pushed her hard against the wall with a simple move "What the--" but before she could react Amy had daggers out ready to fight. Kamilah broke free looking at Amy lost "I dont understand..how??" But Amy just chuckled and in a blink of an eye pinned Kamilah to the ground. She couldn't move even if she tried. The cheers around them became a blur as they gazed into each other's eyes. Amy's danger was hovering over Kamilah's chest "I guess i won" she said but Kamilah pushed her hard. Amy landed near and run furiously to Kamilah's direction. Her dangers made a satisfying wound into Kamilah's stomach. Kamilah watched herself bleed and Amy smiling. How is this happening? But Amy was quick to dodge every attack Kamilah attempted. "Is that all you got?" Amy laughed victoriously watching the vamprire struggle. Stubborn as ever she tried to attack one last time. Amy with one move had blue fire hovering over her palm that made Kamilah stop. "You have powers like.." Amy smiled "the strongest vamprires" she finished her sentence sending Kamilah in a near by wall making it clear who won.

The cheers became louder and louder. Kamilah wanted to flee but she felt trapped into her own body. Stupid agreement she thought cursing herself. She didn't knew what Amy hide within her but for the first time she felt scared.

Before she could think further Amy was standing before her smiling "who is weak now?", before Kamilah could respond her hand hovered over her temples.

"What are you--" but before she could finish her sentence she felt dizzy. "You wont remember this night's events" was the last thing she heard before passing out.

A coworker of mine is 21 years old, not married, no tickets, and has had his license since 18 like me, and he has a 2007 Mazda 6 and he only pays about $170 a month, which translates to about ~$1050 for 6 months. I put in my information including SSN on the same company's web site that he uses (Geico) and my insurance rates are about $1700 for 6 months. So my question is why are my insurance rates so high? I have no tickets, no moving violations, no accidents, nothing, and yet insurance rates are so high. I figure SOMETHING has to be on my driving record, but I can't imagine what. Got gold 5 with just Alistar, Annie and Soraka

Alistar has been my most played support, with annie being my surprise one shot ap carry for support and soraka being my super easy lazy mode/I want to stay with my adc but also help my top laner. Builds here are for alistar but for soraka it’s the same items, annie you get liandry’s torment, morello, rabadon, ludens and you��re good.

Summoner Spells and only one keystone mastery i use. Grasp of the undying is easy to proc on alistar thanks to his E keeps him in the fight for 4 seconds since there are enemy players who wont attack him it goes well with his combo damage.

Runes on Alistar 4.5% move speed, 100 mana, 17 armour.

Ignite: we already know how good it is but reminder to all that it also gives true vision it aint just a killing spell.

Exhaust: only take this if two players already have ignite.

Alistar build 1: Eye of the enquiox, Ninja Tabi, ardent censer, locket, deadman’s plate, adaptive helm

Other items you can use on alistar: Face of mountain, righteous glory, Ruby Sightstone (combined with buying banner of command if you want to troll enemy ap champions), Randuins omen, Ice Born gauntlet, spirit visage, warmog, Yellow boots.

Explanations for alistar items:

Eye of the Enquinox: This item gives you more hp barrier once you’ve reached 650 stacks plus you get to use 4 wards, with this extra hp barrier you can tank more damage when you dive into a fight or knock away certain assassins like yasuo/zed/twitch who he easily counters in team fights rendering the fear of twitch’s R obsolete when he plays against me in mid/late game.

Ninja Tabi: it’s a cheap and broken item on alot of tanks especially sejuani, alistar, taric, you can abuse this during tower dives since the passive from what i’ve seen does work against towers which is disgusting, plus alistar can ult to endure even more tower damage that feels like you’re playing a late game nautilus (if you main nautilus).

Ardent Censer: Alot of people do not expect me to buy this on alistar and it’s stupidly busted when combining alistar with on hit effect champions like ezreal, jax, sivir, twitch, vayne. Alistar HEALS ALL ALLIES NEAR HIM if 7 minions, any dragon/baron/herald, enemy champion dies but it goes on a 3 second CD but the ardent censer passive lasts for 8 seconds on your allies so if you stay with your allies more often then you’ll keep on healing them and they get that massive damage spike.

Also take into account that Alistar’s Q,W and even his E damage is super disgusting he is really one of the biggest cs kings in support with some underated damage so adding some ap from ardent gives him even more power.

Locket: lol just shield your lads n girls.

Deadman’s plate: Okay alistar needs move speed to easily just WQ people to initate fights and get around to running to squishies or push away that one annoying champion out of the fight for longer (looking at you Malphite, Riven, Kled, Twitch, Yasuo.

I’ve mentioned that alistair’s damage is disgusting already so adding more from the on hit effect combined with his E will piss the enemy carries off because your a tank but in just one combo (charging E first, dive in with W, Q, land the E at max stacks and land the dead man’s plate passive damage).

Adaptive helm: good item against alot of ap champions, reduce their damage over time. Simple.

Face of mountain: good that it gives a barrier to your ally but it also gives you less of a hp barrier compared to Eye of Equinox which is why i don’t always buy this item also you need wards so this item can set you back a bit so recomended if you can survive to the late game or you’re just too fed.

Righteous glory: again alistar needs that move speed to get into the fight, will annoy enemies who get slowed, you can get in and do your team fighting job.

Ruby Sightstone and Banner of Command combo: I’ve abused this alot in my ranked games and banner of command really pisses off ap champion players because if you shield a minion (you should always shield a cannon minion) all ap moves deal 0 damage to that minion and your buffed minion becomes a super minion and it becomes an even stronger super minion if you have baron nashor buff with it’s ad damage exceeding near 200 ad so you can easily push towers or abuse this thing on mid lane team fights for the enemy to take more damage and go “wtf why am i taking so much damage from a minion?”

Ruby.S. item gives you way more hp, 4 wards and gives all your item actives a 20% cdr so you can abuse banner of command alot more and create more map chaos with it for split pushing or fights.

Yellow boots: i don’t always recomend this item but it’s good for the early to mid game Sell this in late game please, you need to be confident with this item in thinking you can ambush and just engage the enemy team like crazy.

that’s it for the items and now for my battle stragety this got me out of bronze 1 and into gold 5 and left my elo there for the rewards.

Always buy a sweeper lens at level 6 or when you buy a sightstone.

Upgrade sweeper lens to Oracle Alt at level 9.

Before you set up a team fight in the jungle, river, or plan to engage a lane from a position please use your Oracle Alt to scan for any wards, hidden champions THIS DOES MAKE A MASSIVE DIFFERENCE IN YOU WINNING A FIGHT I abuse this alot with Alistar and my burst damage support Annie.

When sweeping wards with red trinkets you should’nt always attack that ward because if you do attack that ward then you become visible on the map as the person destroying that ward, so sometimes it is best to just ignore that ward and use your Ping to warn of a enemy ward instead.

Twitch, Tristana, Jhin were popular picks in my elos and right now alot of people hate fighting twitch so i tend to start a fight early then start running away to another position i’ve caught twitch’s getting baited to use their Q or R early because of me starting a massive team fight early but really I’ve found a way to save my W to knock that little rat out of the fight or i end up baiting him to attack me and I’m already stupidly tanky so I won’t die or wont go down so easily and by the time twitch has given up trying to attack me, or I cc’d him so much out of a fight, or killed him if he is underfed, or him/his team mate kills me then it’s already too late for him to be useful in a team fight because his ult will be down and my allies can clean up.

This works on all adcs but i mention twitch because league players wont stop raging about him.

Against jhin his ult effects easily give him away where he is and any form of hard cc including chogath’s silence will stop it.

As Alistar, Annie, Soraka I roam alot.

Some tips on roaming as any support:

*Make sure you do it at a wise time.

*Warn your adc that you’re doing a roam.

*You’re roam should be a max of 40 seconds, if your going to go for a 1minute roam then you better make sure it works because you don’t want to go back empty handed.

*Soraka: I start making roams if my adc can be safe from enemy bot lane cc.

Quickly run to top lane if you can’t R and throw some heals, same to mid or junglers.

*Annie:have red trinket, use it where your going to ambush or if you have to go through a lane bush then you can use it to disable vision and just run into the lane and throw in a tibbers stun with her combos to.

*Another one for annie is baiting with control wards, i sometimes intentionally place them in the open or mid lane or intentionally miss bushes to make it look like a mistake, over time someone will see it and try to kill it then you can just punish them.

For my boi alistar my roaming stragety goes like this.

*level 1 start with W, always warn my team of an enemy invade, watches the bushes between mid and top lane. You should also mention your going to gank top and that your adc will get bonus exp for being alone for a while this will comfort your soloQ team mates.

*at 2 min mark gank top lane it’s best to do it if your top laner is Darius, Yasuo, Riven, Renekton, Kled, Rumble, Jayce, Jax, Tryndamere. you need these bois to start a fight before you start a fight because this baits the enemy top laner into your trap. Engage them from behind, save your yellow ward for the top lane bushes because people will go there. Do not try this is your top laner is someone who needs more levels especially Nasus, Singed, Maokai, Malphite. Do not attempt to dive the tower unless you know you can do it but get out instantly.

*roam to mid, most of the time you don’t have to attack the mid laner so alot of times i just casually walk between both mid laners (because I can) also shove that rank 7 in the enemy’s face if you want.

*return to bot lane and be defensive for a few minutes, tell your adc to do small trades then back off and avoid getting hooked.

*enemy bot lane should be at like 400 or 500 hp because they use all of their healing items and by the 7 or 8 minute mark your jungler or mid laner should be ganking you, your ultimate should be up on alistar so if you’ve pushed too far you can engage and ult to tank tons of tower damage.

If you are getting pushed back you can run around the jungle to bot lane to gank the enemy support and adc with your jungler and mid.

*I always make sure to sweep river bot lane, duo bot lane bushes, the dragon, the mid lane bushes, top lane river bush before i engage the top lane.

*when engaging team fights near enemy towers, try to engage from behind the enemy team and ult or save that ult if you get cc’d again you tank all the tower damage and your team gets to stomp the enemy under the tower.

*You can treat alistar’s W like a Vayne condem, just dont do this near thin walls XD lmfao so you can just use your move speed or flash to knock someone into a wall or bush (if you have a ward) and you’re partners will always pick up the kill or burn the enemy’s heal or flash.

* I intentionally solo invade or duo invade the enemy jungle to sweep for the wards or the jungler.

* prevent enemy junglers from trying to dash in to smite dragon/herald/baron or any buff.

*I intentionally engage some enemies early before my team shows up as a way of baiting the enemy away from a team fight so there is always that one or two enemy players who will get obilterated by my team because their team was busy chasing me. Sometimes this can cost you to die but if your allies can get easy kills and easier objectives to win the game then so be it.

That’s pretty much about it for me sorry this is super long to read i know it’s boring but as a support main I want to post this, hopefully this will make more people want to play alistar more untill the pre season 8 hits.

Basic strategy for boss fights is to keep your distance and tire the things out. A tiring enemy is a weak enemy which makes killing it that much easier. And guides to the alligators that appear are at the bottom of this page you can view their pictures, get a detailed description of them and even track thier locations on the island. First things first make a chariorot or take one you like from one of the previous games and go into first person by hitting TAB then use the mousewheel to change you view between your legs,torso, Thats already made it make you fell like your playing a game right? Process the alligator locations now using the database of images. Set aside the delivery quests for later since they might be skippable and actually go kill animals. Send out a beacon for the googizon which is located on the eastern-southeastern part of the map and SAVE YOUR GAME OFTEN. If you bring a grill you can cook the left overs minus guts and better then the cooks give you food. Using fishing pole and a bait you can fish . Rare medium well done doesnt matter, fire can make anything taste good. But by reading this you have already made it past the first major step which isnt easy. The longer you cook the better the taste you will receive, this works in most games with cooking. Gather herbs for perfumes this can make certain tasks easier such as tracking. Collect mushrooms they tend to grow near trees you will need these for alligater carcusses when the time comes. ct honey out of hollow trees. If you are the kicking fighters I suggest wearing boots to reduce the effects of snakes and scorpions. Combine items in certain order and recive a resulting potion or utility item. Sometime quests can reward players with powerful items or reveal hidden locations on your map. Sometimes things will look hopeless, but if you save your game, rest up and keep fighting then you will succeed. You have run out of potions at this point I suggest running away and resting because fighting a Death Jockey for example would not be in your best interest. You have fainted twice already and gotten up both times your luck wont hold out forever. The Chapter is titled "Never give up" ed to pull out and restart his barrows dissections. Gathering quests can often lead playe to unusual rewards. But these are optional and many times result in nothing. Subterranean termites or white ants are a highly destructive timber pest, causing severe structural timber damage to homes and buildings in South  East Queensland  

A CSIRO Survey says almost 1 in 3 buildings have termites within their property boundary and  homes are more at risk,  if there are well established trees within 100 metres of the Homes or buildings. The reason being termites nest in Trees, some have visible nests and others nest within the tree crown.

Termite damage to all Australian homes and buildings has increased dramatically since  1995 mainly due to construction methods eg: Concrete slab on ground construction and the phasing out of the toxic organochloride chemical under slab treatments and With the increasing use of softwoods in construction and the drop in building standards. The increased use of landscaping timbers and fencing and the destruction of their habitat and food sources. So the pressures have increased on our homes and buildings.. Termites cause in excess of a billion dollars a year damage to homes, buildings and other structures.. This is the reason you cannot get insured against damage caused by these destructive pests.

In this post i will give a full list of our Most Destructive Termites in South East Queensland and ways for you to protect your Homes. Most Termites in Australia are Subterranean Termites, which means they live underground. To identify a termite specie we rely on the soldier termites as they are the most distinguishable as most worker termites are very hard to distinguish. Starting with Subterranean termites.

We can identify the termites only by the soldier which protects the colony

NUMBER 1.Coptotermes:

These guys may not be the most destructive but by shear numbers they cause the most damage to structures in Australia. Commonly found throughout Australia - and especially in south east qld along coastal and urban areas and usually where there is gum trees . Yes Gum trees (hardwood)

There are a number 0f different species of Coptotermes throughout Australia but these White ants Cause more Damage than all the other species because they are more widespread and are a very secretive termite and don't have visible nests. There are more destructive species in Australia and if they were more prevalent it would be disastrous to Australian Homes but we will get to them later. In this map the coptotermes are found within the orange, green and brown areas so as you can see they are quite adaptable in most climates.

  Number 2 Schedorhinotermes .

  Schedorhinotermes are one of SEQ most Destructive Termites

Areas Found in Australia: Commonly found in South East Queensland - Mainly along the entire coast line to just below Sydney.

Nest Locations -Very Similar to Coptotermes, Schedorhinotermes generally build their nests in tree stumps, in the root crown of the living, dead and dying trees They also nest in subfloors under houses or within any enclosed areas where timber has been buried or stored in contact with the soil.

This nest was found in the subfloor and it was massive

Identification of this species is relatively easy with the soldiers and when you first find them, you can often see a major soldier (6mm in body length) and a minor soldier (4mm in body length). If you see both it is an indication that the colony is mature and there could be millions of worker termites and they can destroy homes in as little as 12 months and sometimes in a shorter time.

Schedorhinotermes sub nest behind where the hot water system was.

This specie if it was more widespread would equal or surpass the damage caused by coptotermes. We have found them in a lot of homes in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich areas and have had homes with over $100,000 worth of damage caused and even beyond repair.

We have had them destroy hardwood and Cypress framed homes , so don't  think you are safe if your homes are constructed from these timbers. In fact our Most destructive termites hardwood is their preferred food. Even steel framed homes are at risk because there is plenty of timber elements in them.

Nasutitermes 3 .

one of the easiest termites to identify

Areas Found: Commonly found in southern areas of Queensland and NSW, ACT, Victoria and Western Australia - Found in urban areas or where trees are highly prevalent. These guys have visible nests usually in trees and ground nests which makes it a lot easier to treat and to eliminate the colony. This is probably one of the main reasons why they don't get put in the same class as the other two.

Treating Termites with Bait

    Destruction - Nasutitermes can be very destructive to buildings ,homes and other timber structures if not detected. Sometimes severe damage can occur, but not so much as the nests are usually visible. We always advise to treat visible nests as this will take the pressure off your homes. I get told by a lot of people if we leave them alone they won't come to my house but this is not advisable as termites need to feed their ever growing colony and are always foraging around for new food sources and our homes and buildings are a smorgasbourg for them.

Visible Nests is the main reason these guys aren't classed as a major Destructive Termite, but they can cause severe damage to home if undetected.

Heterotermes 4.

  Areas found:  found throughout South East Qld, NSW, the ACT, Victoria, and southern parts of South Australia and Western Australia - Mostly found in urban areas or where  trees are highly prevalent. This termite is hard to identify and can get confused with Microcerotermes but these guys aren't classed in the major destructive category.

Nest located by fence

Nest Location - Heterotermes  will build their colony nest next to stumps, logs and in trees or other timber in direct contact with the soil where some wood decay or rotting is present.

Destructive Nature - Heterotermes  are  destructive to damp timbers and are usually found attacking fences, poles and other timber structures that have wood decay from weathering or from being in contact with the soil. This species can be confused with the less aggressive and destructive microcerotermes  species.

Both these species are found attacking retaining walls fences and landscaping timbers that are decayed and they are a smaller termite compared to the major ones.

They can cause damage to homes but it is unusual to find major damage but does happen on occasions.

This is a common sign of Heterotermes in a home with mud leads through the drywall

We recommend they get treated when found in your yard as they can cause damage to your home.

This specie is known for having strange mud leads..I have seen them making leads to nowhere..

The Last but not least Number 5 Microcerotermes..

Typical Micro nest

  Very Similar to number 4 and our least destructive out of the subterranean termites but as mentioned above they can cause damage to decayed fences, landscaping timbers and retaining walls. Generally the colonies a small compared to the other species and if you find the nest they are real easy to treat. Micros Rarely attack homes and if they do they will take a long time to do any significant damage.

The native drywood termite Cryptotermes primus is found throughout coastal areas and is common in most areas settled before 1940. It attacks the dead wood of living trees and timber in our homes. Colonies have up to 200 Termites and less than 10 soldiers. These Termites aren't considered a major destructive termite. Soldiers are a creamy colour, 4–6 mm long with short, thick, dark heads. Alates (winged reproductives) are pale yellow-brown with wings. They can cause damage to house stumps, flooring, skirting boards,  support beams, furniture and fences. They can literally fly into your home and start a colony as they dont need ground contact and they get all their food needs including moisture from the timber in your homes. An indication they are in your home is the presence of Faecal Pellets.

And they are hungry blighters and will eat just about anything and have been known to eat rubber tyres, leather, hide, plastic or electrical cables and even bitumen. I showed up to every single event that she has ever had b.c it was important and when I had an event there were multiple times she didn't even show up because she was too lazy and didnt want to walk... the last 2 times I bought her flowers she only tells the world that her mom bought her flowers and post the flowers her mom got her not mine and then on Valentine's day i got her these 24k gold roses they were so beautiful and expensive and she didnt even take a picture n showed any of them... b.c. some guy took her on a date and gave her flowers for Valentine's day...then finally the biggest thing I done that ended bad was come up with the most compromising way for both of us to move forward and that is operation green tea. It was a plan that benefits her either way I have been thinking on how i can make were she stays safe in all this drama... so the plan was that I would take melody and her mother and Henson out for a really big family dinner I was plan on spending 200-400 on Chinese bqq/hot pot in the city in cash b.c I know Asian like respect money and I would try my best to show her that there is nothing I wouldn't do for her daughter and that she can trust me to be the one that take care of them including her if she would leave her husband. I dont care about all the hate I wanted to show her mother that when you love someone as much as I love her daughter nothing can stop me from taking care of her and the people she holds near her heart. if I failed and her mother still did not want me to be with her I would respectfully just be friends with melody and maybe in the future get back together... now how can this plan backfire... well for one melody chicken out on going through with the plan...I found out I was a mistake in her eyes a weight that held her back and now she just wants to move on with her life. I was in denial about the whole thing b.c. it hurt so much hearing that. It hurt even more when I found out she has been going out to dinner and movies with other guys that say they are interested in dating her... I asked her about it all and she does what she always did from the beginning never tell me the whole truth...even the last convo we had she never answered anything and I poured my heart out and she didnt say anything. There's a song by justin bieber "that should be me" a like that said "you said you need a little time for my mistakes but it's funny how you use that time to have me replace." I always thought she was different I would bet my life on that. But I made a list on why I should hate you and why I love you and the reasons for loving is 3 times as long then this whole vent... but even though I love you I don't think we can be friends bc of the way everything ended. I really wish things were different I try making things different but that didnt seem like what you wanted. So I have to respect that.

After twelve years of reading and writing about money, Ive come to love financial rules of thumb. Financial rules of thumb provide helpful shortcuts for making quick calculations and decisions. You dont always have time (or want to take the time) to create elaborate spreadsheets when choosing a course of action. In these cases, its nice to have some rough guidelines you can rely on. Youve probably heard of the rule of 72, for example. This shortcut says that if you divide 72 by a particular rate of return, youll get the number of years itll take to double your money. If your savings account yields 4%, say, it will take about 18 years for your nest egg to increase by 100%. But if you were able to earn 12% on your investment, that money would double in six years. Like all rules of thumb, the rule of 72 isnt precise. It doesnt give an exact answer but a ballpark figure. Financial rules of thumb dont always hold true. But theyre true enough for us to make loose plans based on them. I have some engineer friends whod get tense at this sort of sloppy guesswork, but most of the rest of us are happy to trade a bit of precision for speed. Thats what rules of thumb are all about! The trick, of course, is knowing which rules of thumb to use. Most are handy, but some common guidelines do more harm than good. Rules Gone Wild In the past, youve probably seen my rant about some of my most-hated financial rules of thumb. Lets look at three things I think conventional wisdom gets wrong (and what I believe are better alternatives). How much should you save for retirement? For instance, I get frustrated when I hear financial advisers push the idea that you should base your retirement savings on 70% of your income. Instead of estimating your retirement needs from your income, it makes far more sense to base them on spending. Your spending reflects your lifestyle; your income doesnt. I think a better rule of thumb for determining retirement needs is this: When estimating how much youll need to save for retirement, assume youll spend as much in the future as you do now. Use 100% of your current expenses to calculate your retirement spending. (And if you want to build in a safety margin, base your future needs on 110% of your current spending.) How much should you spend on a house? As I mentioned last week, another rule of thumb that makes me cranky is this common guideline espoused by all sectors of the homebuying industry: Buy as much home as you can afford. No no no no no! Of all financial rules of thumb, this is probably the worst. Its certainly one of the most prevalent. This is how folks end up house poor, chained to a mortgage they resent. Lenders quantify this guideline by saying your housing payments should be nor more than 28% or 33% or 41% of your income. But, as David Bach wrote in The Automatic Millionaire Homeowner, You should generally assume that the amount the bank or mortgage company is willing to loan you is more than you should borrow. A better rule of thumb? Spend as little on housing as possible. Spending less than 25% of your net income is best less than 20% is even better. How much life insurance should you carry? A third rule that bugs me is the one for determining how much life insurance you should buy. Different experts give different answers. Some say your policy should cover five times your annual income. Others say ten times. And Suze Orman recommends 20 times annual income needs. The truth is that not everyone needs life insurance. Like all insurance, its designed to prevent financial catastrophes. You only need it if other people like a spouse or children would face financial hardship when you die. If you dont have kids, if your spouse has a good income, or you have substantial savings, then life insurance isnt a necessity. Even if you do need life insurance, you probably dont need to carry as much as your insurance agent is willing to sell you. To find out the amount thats right for you, check out the Life Insurance Needs Calculator from the non-profit Life Happens organization. (How much life insurance should I carry? According to this calculator, I shouldnt have any at all. And I dont.)

Useful Financial Rules of Thumb Financial rules of thumb usually arent this bad. In fact, most are useful. Here are eighteen of my favorites. When estimating income, $1 an hour in wage is equivalent to $2000 per year in pre-tax earnings. The reverse is also true: $2000 per year in salary is equal to $1 an hour in hourly wage. (This rule works because the average worker spends roughly 2000 hours per year on the job.)How wealthy should you be? According to the authors of The Millionaire Next Door, the following wealth formula can tell you if youre on target: Divide your age by ten, then multiply by your annual gross income. Your net worth should be equal to this number (less any inheritances). So, if youre 40 and make $50,000 per year, your net worth should be $200,000. If you have less than half the expected amount, youre an under-accumulator of wealth. If you have twice the target, youre a prodigious accumulator of wealth. (Note that the authors are well aware that this formula doesnt work well for young people; its meant to be used by folks nearing retirement age.)On average, each dollar an American spends represents about $2.50 of after-tax value in ten years or $10 in thirty years. (If you live outside the U.S., the consequences of spending that dollar are probably even greater.) This is due to two reasons: taxes and compounding. When you buy something, you spend after-tax dollars. On average, Americans have to earn $1.33 to have $1.00 left over.Inflation is the silent killer of wealth. In the U.S., inflation has averaged 3.18% over the past hundred years. A lot of folks figure a 3% inflation rate when making money calculations. I think its safer to assume 3.5% or even 4% average inflation in the future.Historically, U.S. stocks have earned long-term real returns (meaning inflation-adjusted returns) of about 7%. Bonds have long-term real returns of around 2.5%. Gold and real estate have long-term real returns of close to 1%.If you withdraw about four percent of your savings each year, your wealth snowball will maintain its value against inflation. During market downturns, you might have to withdraw as little as three percent. If times are flush, you might allow yourself five percent. But four percent is generally safe. (For more on safe withdrawal rates, check out this article from the Mad Fientist.)Based on the previous rule of thumb, theres a quick way to check whether early retirement is within your reach. Multiply your current annual expenses by 25. If the result is less than your savings, youve achieved financial independence you can retire early. If the product is greater than your savings, you still have work to do. (If youre conservative or have low risk tolerance, multiply your annual expenses by 30. If youre aggressive and/or willing to take on greater risk, multiple by 20.)Building on the above, Mr. Money Mustaches shockingly simple math behind early retirement gives us a useful rule of thumb for determining how long youll need to save before youre financially independent. Figure out your current saving rate (or profit margin, if you prefer). Subtract this number from 60. Roughly speaking and assuming youve started from a zero net worth thats how long youll need to work before your nest egg is big enough to support you in retirement. (Note that this rule breaks down at saving rates over 40%. If you save a lot, subtract from 70.)Joe from Stacking Benjamins likes what he calls the penny approximation: Assuming a safe withdraw rate of roughly four percent, every $100 you save gives you one penny per day in perpetuity. Once you stack enough Benjamins you have enough pennies to sustain you forever. If you change your own brake pads and save $200, thats two cents a day for the rest of your life because you avoided paying a mechanic.

I hate detailed budgets because they bog people down. Instead, Im a fan of budget frameworks that focus more on the Big Picture. My favorite budget framework is the Balanced Money Formula: Spend no more than 50% of your after-tax income on Needs, put at least 20% into savings (including debt reduction), and spend the rest (around 30%) on Wants. This is a great beginner budget, but its also useful for transitioning to the mindset of Financial Independence. If you decide early retirement is a goal, then part of your Wants spending becomes additional savings.If you own your home, its wise to set aside money for maintenance and repairs. Each year, contribute 1% of your homes current value to a separate account. If you dont spend the money, keep it there for future remodeling and improvements.Is it better to buy or to rent? The price-to-rent ratio is a useful rule of thumb for making this decision. Find two similar places, one for sale and one for rent. Divide the sale price of the one by the annual rent for the other. The result is the P/R ratio. Say you find a $200,000 house for sale in a nice neighborhood, and a similar home for rent on the next block for $1000 per month, which is $12,000 per year. Dividing $200,000 by $12,000, you get a P/R ratio of 16.7. If the P/R ratio is low, its better to buy. If the price-to-rent ratio is over 15, its probably better to rent.How much does it cost to raise a child? As a rule of thumb, budget $10,000 per child per year. Thats not quite a quarter of a million dollars per kid, but its close.If you get a windfall, use 1% to treat yourself. (Or maybe 2%, tops.) Put the rest in a safe place and ignore it for six months. After youve had time to think about it, then take action. So, if you inherit $100,000 from Aunt Marge, only allow yourself a $1000 splurge. Stash the remaining $99,000 someplace you wont be tempted to spend it.To approximate a new vehicles five-year cost of ownership (in monthly terms), double the price tage and divide by 60. Looking at a brand-new Mini Cooper ? Double that $30,000 sticker price to get $60,000, then divide by 60. Is it really worth $1000 per month to get rid of your crummy Ford Focus?The standard rule of thumb is to save at least 10% of your income. I think a better goal is to aim for 20% and more is better. Financial guru Liz Weston says that if youre young, you should follow this guideline: Save 10% for basics, 15% for comfort, 20% to escape.Nobody agrees how much you should set aside for an emergency fund. Even the experts offer advice ranging from $1000 up to 12 months of expenses. (The most common suggestions range from three to six months of expenses.) One clever rule of thumb to determine how much you should have set aside: Your emergency fund should cover X months of expenses, where X is the current unemployment rate. In other words, because the U.S. unemployment is about 4% right now, you should aim to have enough money in the bank to cover four months of expenses.According to Consumer Reports, wen youre faced with the repair of an appliance (such as a refrigerator or washing machine), you should buy a new one if the appliance is more than eight years old (or if the repair would cost more than half what it would take to buy a replacement). Its important to remember that rules of thumb arent set in stone. Theyre guidelines. Theyre meant to help you make quick evaluations, not actual life-changing decisions. Financial rules of thumb are a starting point. Start with them, then adjust for your individual goals and situation. Other Useful Financial Guidelines Strictly speaking, rules of thumb deal with numbers. Still, there are a lot of non-numeric guidelines that I think are useful to know. If youve done any reading about personal finance, for example, youve probably heard the admonition, Pay yourself first. While not strictly a rule of thumb, this guideline is very similar. Here are some other useful financial guidelines: The more you learn, the more you earn. In the U.S., education has a greater impact on work-life earnings than any other demographic factor. Your age, race, gender, and location all influence what you earn, but nothing matters more than what you know.Bank a raise. When you get a salary bump, dont increase your spending. Stay the course and put the added income into savings.Always take the employer match on the 401(k).Never touch your retirement savings except for retirement.Never co-sign on a loan. He looks around. There are books on the floor, a candle on the ground with a piece of paper starting to burn, a notebook/journal, and Rheil, asleep. Which he’s an elf. He doesn’t do that.

Talis looks at the paper that was on the candle stand. On it is dark, violent writing. All of it is things like “You’re not good at anything.” or “No one likes you.” Theres even parts that say “Your partner doesnt even like you so why even try” and “Talis wants you dead” and “Talis wants to kill you.” Parts of it are burned. Talis pockets the paper.

Talis then picks up the journal

     He looks at the last part first. The beginning of it has small flyers for taverns, lots of math. One part says -200 gold, which is important for past things. There starts to be some ripped out pages. They start out infrequently, maybe one or two pages, but the last, most recent part, has twelve ripped out pages in a row. The paper is similar to that of the paper that was burning.

     Then Talis looks at the first part. Its all very casual writing, but there’s a name that’s said often. Arheilia. Then, scrawled across two pages, the words, “I testify if I die in my sleep, then know that my life was just a killer dream.” Arheilia is never mentioned again.

     He looks at the middle part next. Most of it is song lyrics in process. Scrawled out parts with “dont be stupid” or “idiot” written in the margins. But they’re deep. As in the words are masterfully crafted to be relatable for many emotional states. Someone who is sad and someone who is happy could listen to the song and relate to it. But it changes suddenly. The lyrics are... different. There isn’t as much scrawling. There isn’t any music notes scribbled in the margins. Any depreciating comments are cut off half way, looking as if someone wrestled the pen from his hand.

Then he looks at the books. 

     He looks at the outsides of them, noticing they are wizard textbooks. However, the books have library stickers on the spines. Elvish. And it doesn’t look like the kind that would be donated to book stores.

    He looks at the insides of them, which are annotated with pieces of papers stuck in the spines, referencing different parts. Parts that should have been taught. There are parts that say “If you want to know how to do ______, look at _____ page __ para ___ line __.” And these things are things that wizards should know. Wizards should be taught how to summon magic from books or learning. Its safe to think, maybe Rheil wasn’t.

You dont always have time (or want to take the time) to create elaborate spreadsheets when choosing a course of action. In these cases, its nice to have some rough guidelines you can rely on. Youve probably heard of the rule of 72, for example. This shortcut says that if you divide 72 by a particular rate of return, youll get the number of years itll take to double your money. If your savings account yields 4%, say, it will take about 18 years for your nest egg to increase by 100%. But if you were able to earn 12% on your investment, that money would double in six years. Like all rules of thumb, the rule of 72 isnt precise. It doesnt give an exact answer but a ballpark figure. Financial rules of thumb dont always hold true. But theyre true enough for us to make loose plans based on them. I have some engineer friends whod get tense at this sort of sloppy guesswork, but most of the rest of us are happy to trade a bit of precision for speed. Thats what rules of thumb are all about! The trick, of course, is knowing which rules of thumb to use. Most are handy, but some common guidelines do more harm than good. Rules Gone Wild In the past, youve probably seen my rant about some of my most-hated financial rules of thumb. Lets look at three things I think conventional wisdom gets wrong (and what I believe are better alternatives). How much should you save for retirement? For instance, I get frustrated when I hear financial advisers push the idea that you should base your retirement savings on 70% of your income. Instead of estimating your retirement needs from your income, it makes far more sense to base them on spending. Your spending reflects your lifestyle; your income doesnt. I think a better rule of thumb for determining retirement needs is this: When estimating how much youll need to save for retirement, assume youll spend as much in the future as you do now. Use 100% of your current expenses to calculate your retirement spending. (And if you want to build in a safety margin, base your future needs on 110% of your current spending.) How much should you spend on a house? As I mentioned last week, another rule of thumb that makes me cranky is this common guideline espoused by all sectors of the homebuying industry: Buy as much home as you can afford. No no no no no! Of all financial rules of thumb, this is probably the worst. Its certainly one of the most prevalent. This is how folks end up house poor, chained to a mortgage they resent. Lenders quantify this guideline by saying your housing payments should be nor more than 28% or 33% or 41% of your income. But, as David Bach wrote in The Automatic Millionaire Homeowner, You should generally assume that the amount the bank or mortgage company is willing to loan you is more than you should borrow. A better rule of thumb? Spend as little on housing as possible. Spending less than 25% of your net income is best less than 20% is even better. How much life insurance should you carry? A third rule that bugs me is the one for determining how much life insurance you should buy. Different experts give different answers. Some say your policy should cover five times your annual income. Others say ten times. And Suze Orman recommends 20 times annual income needs. The truth is that not everyone needs life insurance. Like all insurance, its designed to prevent financial catastrophes. You only need it if other people like a spouse or children would face financial hardship when you die. If you dont have kids, if your spouse has a good income, or you have substantial savings, then life insurance isnt a necessity. Even if you do need life insurance, you probably dont need to carry as much as your insurance agent is willing to sell you. Useful Financial Rules of Thumb Financial rules of thumb usually arent this bad. In fact, most are useful. Here are eighteen of my favorites. When estimating income, $1 an hour in wage is equivalent to $2000 per year in pre-tax earnings. The reverse is also true: $2000 per year in salary is equal to $1 an hour in hourly wage. (This rule works because the average worker spends roughly 2000 hours per year on the job.)How wealthy should you be? According to the authors of The Millionaire Next Door, the following wealth formula can tell you if youre on target: Divide your age by ten, then multiply by your annual gross income. Your net worth should be equal to this number (less any inheritances). So, if youre 40 and make $50,000 per year, your net worth should be $200,000. If you have less than half the expected amount, youre an under-accumulator of wealth. If you have twice the target, youre a prodigious accumulator of wealth. (Note that the authors are well aware that this formula doesnt work well for young people; its meant to be used by folks nearing retirement age.)On average, each dollar an American spends represents about $2.50 of after-tax value in ten years or $10 in thirty years. (If you live outside the U.S., the consequences of spending that dollar are probably even greater.) This is due to two reasons: taxes and compounding. When you buy something, you spend after-tax dollars. On average, Americans have to earn $1.33 to have $1.00 left over.Inflation is the silent killer of wealth. In the U.S., inflation has averaged 3.18% over the past hundred years. A lot of folks figure a 3% inflation rate when making money calculations. I think its safer to assume 3.5% or even 4% average inflation in the future.Historically, U.S. stocks have earned long-term real returns (meaning inflation-adjusted returns) of about 7%. Bonds have long-term real returns of around 2.5%. Gold and real estate have long-term real returns of close to 1%.If you withdraw about four percent of your savings each year, your wealth snowball will maintain its value against inflation. During market downturns, you might have to withdraw as little as three percent. If times are flush, you might allow yourself five percent. But four percent is generally safe. (For more on safe withdrawal rates, check out this article from the Mad Fientist.)Based on the previous rule of thumb, theres a quick way to check whether early retirement is within your reach. Multiply your current annual expenses by 25. If the result is less than your savings, youve achieved financial independence you can retire early. If the product is greater than your savings, you still have work to do. (If youre conservative or have low risk tolerance, multiply your annual expenses by 30. If youre aggressive and/or willing to take on greater risk, multiple by 20.)Building on the above, Mr. Money Mustaches shockingly simple math behind early retirement gives us a useful rule of thumb for determining how long youll need to save before youre financially independent. Figure out your current saving rate (or profit margin, if you prefer). Subtract this number from 60. Roughly speaking and assuming youve started from a zero net worth thats how long youll need to work before your nest egg is big enough to support you in retirement. (Note that this rule breaks down at saving rates over 40%. If you save a lot, subtract from 70.)Joe from Stacking Benjamins likes what he calls the penny approximation: Assuming a safe withdraw rate of roughly four percent, every $100 you save gives you one penny per day in perpetuity. Once you stack enough Benjamins you have enough pennies to sustain you forever. If you change your own brake pads and save $200, thats two cents a day for the rest of your life because you avoided paying a mechanic.

I hate detailed budgets because they bog people down. Instead, Im a fan of budget frameworks that focus more on the Big Picture. My favorite budget framework is the Balanced Money Formula: Spend no more than 50% of your after-tax income on Needs, put at least 20% into savings (including debt reduction), and spend the rest (around 30%) on Wants. This is a great beginner budget, but its also useful for transitioning to the mindset of Financial Independence. If you decide early retirement is a goal, then part of your Wants spending becomes additional savings.If you own your home, its wise to set aside money for maintenance and repairs. Each year, contribute 1% of your homes current value to a separate account. If you dont spend the money, keep it there for future remodeling and improvements.Is it better to buy or to rent? The price-to-rent ratio is a useful rule of thumb for making this decision. Find two similar places, one for sale and one for rent. Divide the sale price of the one by the annual rent for the other. The result is the P/R ratio. Say you find a $200,000 house for sale in a nice neighborhood, and a similar home for rent on the next block for $1000 per month, which is $12,000 per year. Dividing $200,000 by $12,000, you get a P/R ratio of 16.7. If the P/R ratio is low, its better to buy. If the price-to-rent ratio is over 15, its probably better to rent.How much does it cost to raise a child? As a rule of thumb, budget $10,000 per child per year. Thats not quite a quarter of a million dollars per kid, but its close.If you get a windfall, use 1% to treat yourself. (Or maybe 2%, tops.) Put the rest in a safe place and ignore it for six months. After youve had time to think about it, then take action. So, if you inherit $100,000 from Aunt Marge, only allow yourself a $1000 splurge. Stash the remaining $99,000 someplace you wont be tempted to spend it.To approximate a new vehicles five-year cost of ownership (in monthly terms), double the price tage and divide by 60. Looking at a brand-new Mini Cooper ? Double that $30,000 sticker price to get $60,000, then divide by 60. Is it really worth $1000 per month to get rid of your crummy Ford Focus?The standard rule of thumb is to save at least 10% of your income. I think a better goal is to aim for 20% and more is better. Financial guru Liz Weston says that if youre young, you should follow this guideline: Save 10% for basics, 15% for comfort, 20% to escape.Nobody agrees how much you should set aside for an emergency fund. Even the experts offer advice ranging from $1000 up to 12 months of expenses. (The most common suggestions range from three to six months of expenses.) One clever rule of thumb to determine how much you should have set aside: Your emergency fund should cover X months of expenses, where X is the current unemployment rate. In other words, because the U.S. unemployment is about 4% right now, you should aim to have enough money in the bank to cover four months of expenses.According to Consumer Reports, wen youre faced with the repair of an appliance (such as a refrigerator or washing machine), you should buy a new one if the appliance is more than eight years old (or if the repair would cost more than half what it would take to buy a replacement). Its important to remember that rules of thumb arent set in stone. Theyre guidelines. Theyre meant to help you make quick evaluations, not actual life-changing decisions. Financial rules of thumb are a starting point. Start with them, then adjust for your individual goals and situation. Other Useful Financial Guidelines Strictly speaking, rules of thumb deal with numbers. Still, there are a lot of non-numeric guidelines that I think are useful to know. If youve done any reading about personal finance, for example, youve probably heard the admonition, Pay yourself first. While not strictly a rule of thumb, this guideline is very similar. Here are some other useful financial guidelines: The more you learn, the more you earn. In the U.S., education has a greater impact on work-life earnings than any other demographic factor. Your age, race, gender, and location all influence what you earn, but nothing matters more than what you know.Bank a raise. When you get a salary bump, dont increase your spending. Stay the course and put the added income into savings.Always take the employer match on the 401(k).Never touch your retirement savings except for retirement.Never co-sign on a loan. (Ever.)Avoid paying interest on anything that loses value. Its okay to finance a home or a college education but avoid taking out a loan on a car.Speaking of cars: When you buy a vehicle, buy used or buy new and plan to drive it for at least ten years. (Do both and youll save even more!)Dont mess with the IRS. When it comes to taxes, dont try to cheat. Pay what you owe. Claim all the deductions you deserve, but dont try to stretch things.In general, save an emergency fund first; pay off high-interest debt second; and begin investing (at the same time you pay down remaining debt) last.It almost always makes more sense (and cents) to repair your old car than to buy a new one.If youre not willing to pay cash for it, then it doesnt make sense to buy it on credit. (I have a friend whose guiding principle is: If I wouldnt buy five, why would I buy one? Similar idea taken to an extreme.)Save for your own retirement before saving for your childrens college education. They can get loans for school. You cant get loans for retirement. Now its your turn.
