Really guts me when people blame Lucrecia for running away. Like??? What was she supposed to do??? Go up against an entire militaristic organization on her own? An organization with literal ARMIES at its disposal? Risk the safety of her child without any set plan or resources? Her only super power is that the Jenova cells prevent her from dying. Want to know the more likely outcome if she'd have tried anything? Hojo would have just strapped her to a table and tortured her over and over and over again to test the limits of her healing abilities. While probably threatening her infant son's safety if she didn't comply. This is already taking into account that Lucrecia is also extremely mentally unwell at this time and is exhibiting physical and mental deterioration due to the Jenova cells. Literally what was she supposed to do?
Her running away was definitely not a good thing. Her absence in Sephiroth's life definitely kicks off a LOT of the outcomes that take place later on. But it's not like she had the right help, support, or the general ability to rescue her son. She'd just accepted that she couldn't even save Vincent. And already on the HEELS of feeling responsible for Grimoire's death. Lucrecia was in no state of mind to believe she was capable of fighting and succeeding against Shinra. I guarantee you 99.9% of her vocal haters would have done the exact same thing she did.

Luke: (Knocks on the door twice) Daddy? It's six o'clock.
Noah: (Hears him and gets out of bed - Whispers) I'm going.
Luke: How many eggs?
Noah: Just one, but remember not to over-beat the mixture, just to combine the ingredients.
Luke: Understood.
Luke: Is that okay?
Noah: Perfect, you're doing great.
Luke: Cooking is similar to creating magic potions. Don't you think?
Noah: (Smiles) That's true, I've never thought of it that way.
Luke: It's like I'm a top-level wizard ready to face the wise Morgyn Ember with my powerful potions. Do you think he really exists? He must be millions of years old.
Noah: His existence is a mystery to everyone, but lower-level wizards do exist. Many years ago, before you were born, your dad met an evil sorceress. Did he ever tell you that story?
Luke: (Shocked) WOOOO! Really?! A sorceress?! He never told me.
Noah: (Smiles) When he wakes up, we'll ask him to tell the details.
Luke: (Happy) Yes, I love hearing stories.
Noah: We're done, now we just have to wait for them to cook.
Luke: How long will it take?
Noah: Not long, they'll be ready in 10 minutes.
Luke: It's fun to cook. Can I help you next time you make desserts?
Noah: (Happy) Sure, honey, as many times as you want.
Noah: Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies ready to eat.
Luke: (Excited) When Sami tries these he'll be so happy.
Noah: (Worried) Sure thing, son. Could you wake your dad up for breakfast?
Luke: Yeep.
Luke: Dad, what are wizards like? Are they all evil? Daddy said that one time, an evil wizard took all your stuff.
Kira: No-chan, that was supposed to be a secret and suddenly everyone knows about my close encounter with the unknown.
Noah: (Laughs) Wizards aren't aliens.
Kira: (Pretends to get angry) Don't change the subject. You told everyone! You were supposed to keep it a secret.
Noah: Sorry, it was just so funny how things happened. I look back on it and I can't help but smile. Plus it's cute how you get embarrassed telling it.
Kira: (Feigning anger) I also remember something very funny that happened that day.
Noah: (Trying to guess internally what she means)
Awkward silence.
Luke: (Anxious) What?! What happened?! Finish the story this time because you always stay silent and never finish telling.
Kira: The day I came to tell your dad what happened, he got so worried about me that when he wanted to come hug me, he tripped and rolled off the bridge at the entrance. Do you remember when we fell together?
Noah: Yes, I do. Of all the stumbles I've had in my life, this was definitely the best one. Falling alone isn't fun.
Luke: (Watches carefully - Thoughts) It's true, doing things alone is boring. I wish I could show my stories to Sami. I've never met another boy my age who liked books like I do. I hope she agrees to be my girlfriend.
Saturday afternoon.
Luke: (Thoughts) Perfect! Everything is well organized. The conversation topics, the cookies, the letter. I just have to wait for it to arrive.
Yeah… just that. (Hesitating)
I'd better keep the letter. Nobody writes letters these days.
Noah: (Anxious) Send her a message, Ki. Maybe she can't find our house.
Kira: I'll call her and see where they are.
Sami: I want to go home! I forgot my cell phone.
Lucrecia: Stop complaining, we're almost there.
Sami: (Annoyed) I'm bored.
Lucrecia: You'll soon be playing with your new friend.
Sami: Why do I have to play with him? He's a fool, he says weird things.
Lucrecia: (Annoyed) Sami, this is my first date in years with a more or less decent guy. All I do is work, work and work. I only ask one favor of you, behave.
Sami: (Laughs out loud) Yes, yes. It's okay.
Kira: (he approaches to greet them) Hi babies, how are you? I was just about to call you. Was it difficult to find the way?
Sami: (Laughs) Yes, mom got lost several times.
Lucrecia: (Gritting her teeth) Samantha!
Kira: What a shame, I'm sorry. I should have called earlier.
Lucrecia: Don't worry, we didn't get lost.
Kira: Welcome to our home. Today we will treat you like queens.

I always wonder why SQEX use the title 'Crisis' to almost every prequel of FF7, i.e Crisis Core, Before Crisis, Ever Crisis. Is 'crisis' really implied toward Sephiroth?
Also, I'm apprehensive on playing the next part of FF7R because I don't want to beat up poor Sephy again (TT_TT). No matter how many ppl say he is strong or evil, to me he's just a poor baby.
But I'll definitely play when SQEX decide to release a sequel where Sephiroth as the main character. I even got in a habit of apologizing to the monitor whenever I finally defeat Seohiroth. Am I weird? Does anyone else feels like this?
No anon, don't feel weird about being yourself~!
༻❁༺ Crisis Cutie's Favorite Word?
Personally, I think "Crisis" could be applied as a collective term to FF7's cast. It's definitely one of Sephiroth's special words alongside reunion and despair, though. We know little about Sephiroth's role in EC now, but I wonder if his story arc will be another variant of his identity crisis, like in Crisis Core and Before Crisis. It'd certainly be an emotional crisis regardless, though.
I feel you on Sephiroth but at the same time; I understand the need to put him down, and it brings such heavy feelings to my heart. 💔💔💔 I've noticed that almost no one seems to give Sephiroth any empathy, even Aerith, who's pretty much the Sora of the series.
Sephiroth's actions brought everyone deep sorrow and crisis. It's clear why they felt such despair and hatred towards him. Quick disclaimer, I'm not blaming anyone or anything here, just pointing something out. Also Aerith just knows there is no turning Sephiroth from the path of evil. In 7R, she's completely right when she told him that everything about him was wrong, in every sense.
༻❁༺ Cycle of Pain
I knew Vincent indirectly expressed empathy (from what I remembered). He understood how the circumstances of Sephiroth's birth lead him to who he is. That's why he couldn't bring himself to confront Lucrecia with the harsh reality of what her son had become...
And we as the audience have the benefit of seeing both sides of the story. I understand why Sephiroth's trauma of abandonment, emotional abuse, and killing/fighting was became much to bear, leading to his breakdown in Nibelheim.
And I can imagine the despair and fury that Tifa and Cloud experienced when Sephiroth committed his abhorrent acts at Nibelheim. Tifa refused to be part of the cycle of pain that Sephiroth kept alive, and instead extended a hand to Cloud, saving him from his own descent. Without the bonds that Cloud had built, he could have easily become like Sephiroth.
Vincent, like Tifa, made the decision to break the cycle for himself. Despite his broken bonds and difficult circumstances, he was able to stay true to his inner goodness and remain on the path of good.
༻❁༺ Another Crisis Game Please!
I would love to play a game starring Sephiroth. Honestly, I think Crisis Core should've been the game for the First Class Boyos. It just had too much going on within the plot (IMO) and the game suffered from the constraints of originally being a handheld game. Zack is a great character, but honestly, he was just "there" a lot of times. He only took a permanent, active role closer to the end, which he had to for plot reasons. And I loved it!
Zack saw the results of his attempt to live heroically and play by the rules... It had not brought him to his hoped-for destination. He tried so hard to endure the terrible events and he did! But his prize was death and betrayal. Like Aerith, he was just too good for the world... It's interesting how similar his death is to hers. They faced immense hardships, but their powerful sense of morality and bonds kept them true to themselves while dying for a selfless and noble cause.
Honestly, the whole main cast of FF7 needs a fountain of hugs.
