idk if this is controversial but I don’t think mariano was ever in love with isabela. I think he loved her but I don’t think he was IN LOVE with her. I could see them being friends and him just having a lot of admiration for her and being in love with the idea of her. I know he swoons over her in the opening song but I mean so does the whole town? Isabela madrigal up until wecid was a performance, a show the literal embodiment of perfection. I think mariano loved her and respected her just not romantically. Most of their “conversations” are hollow and you kinda get the sense both of them don’t really know what they’re doing but they feel they have to put on a display for their families.

My Encanto Oc!

I figured I’d hop on the Encanto train because the movie was absolutely amazing! So here is my OC! The picture above is a stand in for my character right now but this is what I’d very roughly say what she looks like.

Antonella Madrigal

Age: 18

Birthday: June 21st

Gift: talks to the dead (didn’t realize so many people used this gift until scrolling on tumblr lmfao guess I’m part of a trend now)

Description: Antonella was granted with the gift of being table to talk to the dead. When she was given her gift, her family and the town grew a bit wary of her, unsure of what her gift exactly entailed. Antonella was actually quite afraid of her powers herself, fearing the undead and trembling at the thought of being haunted her whole life. Fortunately, this wasn’t the case at all. As she grew older, Antonella has been able to speak and see those who’ve passed on. She connects with them and helps souls who are lost find their way to the next stage. She goes around town, putting the minds of those who’ve lost a family member or friends at ease, reassuring them that their loved ones are always with them and are there to protect them. If a bad omen can be detected, she’ll bring her incense and spirit book with her and cleanse any negative energy she can feel.

Facts about Antonella

* She is Bruno’s only child. (I know I know another one of these)

* Her mom ran off when she was only a few months old

* Oof ✨mommy issues✨

* She’s the fourth oldest of Alma’s grandchildren

* Her nickname is Nella.

* Her favorite food is postre de natas.

* She’s quite close with her whole family, surprisingly enough as she is Bruno’s child.

* She enjoys scheming with her cousin Camilo, going around and causing trouble and playing pranks on the family (specifically on Agustin and Felix)

* Before Antonio’s ceremony, him, Antonella and Mirabel would spend time together in the nursery and make each other giggle. Now that he has his gift, she goes into his room to chill out and cuddle with all the animals.

* She understands Mirabel when it comes to being the black sheep of the family to a degree, her father is Bruno after all. She gives her cousin advice when she’s feeling down and helps her feel better about herself.

* Dolores and Antonella enjoy taking long walks together around town, giggling on about Mariano and the other cute guys they see.

* Antonella likes following Luisa around and chatting while she does her heavy lifting, cracking jokes and helping out the best she could, even though she’s not insanely strong like her older cousin.

* Isabela and Antonella don’t always see eye to eye every second and probably hang out together the least, but they do love each other very much, even if they get on each other’s nerves.

* The adults basically all took care of Antonella since her father left. They all pitched in and helped raise her and loved her unconditionally when her Papá wasn’t there to.

* She always helped Julieta in the kitchen, she enjoyed cooking with her and learning different recipes.

* She loves spending time with her Tia Pepa. When Pepa is anxious, she lets her niece brush through her hair and braid it over and over again, it really helps her calm down. Antonella also helps her tia by showing her ways to meditate and calm her nerves.

* Felix and Antonella really bond over music and different kinds

* Just like the rest of the family, Abuela is very strict on her granddaughter. Alma doesn’t exactly understand her gift, you could say she’s even a bit weirded out by it, but whatever her gift may be, she’ll make sure Antonella uses it to the best of her ability.

* The greatest advantage she has with her gift is being able to talk to her Abuelo Pedro.

* She first noticed him when she opened her door during her ceremony. He was standing behind Alma and Bruno with a proud smile on his face.

* He holds a very special place in her heart. She could be heard having long, endless talks with him when you pass her door.

* She likes to ask him about what it was like back then when he was young or about abuela when she was a little less intense, if that’s the right word.

* To the familia, Nella was a good luck charm and the strongest connection they could ever have to Abuelo Pedro.

* She sets out a plate for Pedro at the end of the table every day.

* The family still tend to get a bit creeped out when they see her talking by herself, but know that it’s just Abuelo with her.

* Can “raise the dead”

* Well not actually

* But she can summon spirits

* Alma has never actually admitted it, but she believes her granddaughter has the most special gift of all for clear bias reasons

* Bruno disappeared when she was 8

* BAM NOW ✨daddy issues✨

* She has trust issues clearly

* And of course abandonment issues too

* Her biggest fear is her family leaving her

* She enjoys making her cousins laugh with jokes

* She can be very introverted at times

* Sometimes she doesn’t come out of her room for a few days because she needs a break from her familia and the dead

* That is a lot of people after all

* Her gift sorta has a switch, she can turn it on and off as she pleases

* Her tios and tias check up on her every now and then to see how she’s doing.

* Abuela tries but sorta has trouble connecting with her granddaughter

* Days that she misses breakfast, lunch or dinner, her cousins bring her plates of food so she doesn’t go without eating.

* Sometimes she just needs her Abuelo’s presence with her to feel calm and relaxed

* Agustin may not have a gift but he’s certainly one of the best father figures she has

* He’s just really good at being supportive

* Antonella appreciates everything her family does for her

* She eventually comes out of her room and is as good as new

* She can be the life of the party as well!

* She love love loves music

* She’s really likes dancing and singing!

* When the adults aren’t home, Nella and her cousins throw dance parties, singing and laughing while they dance around casita

* One time the adults came back and caught them red handed

* They ended up joining in on the fun of course

* Antonella, Mirabel and Camilo have the best dance moves in the family

* Felix and Pepa are pretty good themselves

* Agustin….tries

* She discovered Bruno with Mirabel when she went to see Antonio in his room

* This didn’t go the greatest to say the least

* Actually it kinda went super bad

* It ended up with Antonella screaming at Bruno in her room

* Kindaaa told him to get out of her life since he hasn’t been there for most of it anyways

* Oopsies

* That shit kinda hurted both of them not gonna lie

* She didn’t talk to anyone else for the rest of the time until Casita came crashing down

* Was devastated when she couldn’t talk to Abuelo anymore

* When Mirabel and Abuela came back with Bruno she sorta had an emotional breakdown and just kinda fell into his arms

* That night when Casita came back to life they had a very, very long talk

* They talked about their ✨feelings✨

* A lot more tears and apologies

* It would take time, but Bruno is ready to truly be a father again and not just watch his daughter from behind the walls

* Antonella is just glad that she has her papá back

* When her gift was restored she realizes she’s able to show people physical embodiments of those who passed on (if that makes sense)

* That means if she concentrates her family is able to actually see Abuelo

* Abuela comes to her room sometimes to speak with him

* So does her tias and papa

* As well as the rest of her family of course

* Once in a while Alma, Antonella and Abuelo sit outside and watch the sunset

* Her and Mirabel help Bruno put on his famous telenovelas for the family
