Your desk lamp flickers weakly as the hours pass by. Your feet is numb, prickling with the pinprick needles on your skin without any signs of movement. The only other noise apart from your pen scratches is Ace's snoring behind you, having passed out from an attack an hour or two the moment he got back from eating dinner with his brothers. It's strangely soothing to hear him snore and move around in the bed this late at night; It made you feel more secure rather than feeling alone at night doing homework.
You were roommates with Portgas D Ace for almost a year, after choosing to stay in the college dorms due to the difficulty in driving back and forth from your parent's house and the college. At first, you found him annoying, almost hating how much of a slob he was and the messy way he took care of himself. But Ace grew on you, bit by bit.
It was the little things at first. The way he'd offer to buy you snacks anytime he'd run to hang out with his friends (Whitebeard's Crew - famously known in the city) while you're busy cramming poetry into your brain. How he would cover your shoulders with a jacket or blanket whenever you fall asleep at your desk. On rare occasions, Ace would even walk you to classes whenever he bothered to attend them, and most of the time, even wait at the door when class ends to walk you back to the dorms. It was these little things that cemented Ace into your heart, even if he didn't know it.
"Mhmm, Y/N?" Ace yawns, drawing you out of your daydream. You slowly turn around, wincing at the cracks in your neck before nodding. "Yeah?"
He sits up, rubbing his eyes and you resist the urge to coo. His pride would take a devastating hit if you did.
"I'm hungry," He pouts. "Wanna go to the nearest store to raid their chips' section? It's on me."
You pretend to think deeply about it but you both know that you'd agree in the end. To be fair, you've only had one or two onigiris before starting on your English essay and it was hours since your last meal. As if agreeing, your stomach let out a loud rumble.
Ace grins and your heart falters.
"Alright!" He threw the blankets off him, revealing his toned chest and low-waisted black trousers. A strong blush grows on your face as your eyes are level with his abs and you quickly grab a stray shirt to throw in his face.
"Ace! Decency, please," You splutter, face in your hands and your cheeks burning. "No one wants to see your abs 24/7."
'You do,' Your traitorous mind whispers. You tell your brain to shut up.
Ace flexs his biceps and runs a hand through his black hair. "All those hours in the gym and no one to appreciate them," He bemoans as he buttons up his wrinkled shirt, hiding away his beloved abs. He hops off the bed and snatches his motorcycle keys; Whitebeard's famous symbol hanging loosely as a keychain. You set aside your homework in a neat pile before throwing on a thick hoodie. With a nod and a grin exchanged, Ace holds the door open for you. You curtsey in response before laughing together.
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
"Mhmm," Ace groans, eyes rolling back and his tongue stuck out in ecstasy. "This. This is the shit."
He holds up his cup noodles and closes his eyes. "I would die for this shit. I would trade my brothers any day for a cup noodles at 2:00 AM on a weekday. There's nothing I wouldn't do for cup noodles."
If Sabo or Luffy were here, they would tackle Ace into the chip shelf behind him and then be dragged into the nearest police car for property damages and who knows what. Fortunately, Sabo was away on a student exchange program and Luffy is locked up in his apartment building, dorming with his first mate, Zoro.
You nod, silently agreeing with him. The convenience store is empty; Its overhead lights buzz and flicker, casting shadows periodically onto the shelves of food. Ace's black hair glimmers underneath the light and his silver eyes seem to glow otherworldly. If you weren't so tired, perhaps you would have mustered up the courage to snatch his hoodie collar and tug him into a kiss. Alas, you're but a mere college student at 2:03 AM in the morning, trying to get energy to finish your English essay which is due in approximately, 6 hours.
"You okay, Y/N?" Ace hums before he stands up. Before you can ask, he is already leaning forward to press a warm palm to your forehead. You blush at the close proximity and how you could feel his warmth emitting from his body. "You're blushing a lot."
"D-Don't think too much about it," You splutter before urgently taking another bite out of your cup noodles. "Seriously! I'm fine."
He raises an eyebrow. You curse at how every little action enhances his looks and speeds up the beating of your heart.
"You sure?"
You smile at him gently and you can already feel the slow, creeping feeling of sleep overtaking your senses. A loud yawn tears from your mouth and Ace laughs.
"I'll buy you a coffee, give me a second," He pats your head, picking up his trash and leaves. You press your head into the palm of your hand, nodding slowly. You can barely pry your eyes open and your vision is hazy, blurry.
'Just five minutes...' You nod to yourself before slumping forward with a loud thump!
. . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
"Now, what flavor would Y/N like?" Ace hums to himself, staring at the rows and rows of coffee. There was everything from Chocolate Cappucino to a matcha-infused coffee which he shook his head in disgust upon glancing at them. "Should I just get it all or...?"
A loud thump! breaks him out of his thoughts and he snaps his head to stare. His heart pounds in his chest as he dashes to the table, tightening his fists in apprehension. Just what happened to you-
He comes to a stop, barely tripping over his two feet before bursting into laughter. You nearly missed your cup noodles by inches, landing on the table with your head propping sideways and closed eyes facing him. Small snores burst from your lips in a mini rhythm, synchronizing with his peals of laughter.
"Aww, Y/N looks so cute like this!" He snickers to himself, already whipping out his phone. Just as he is about to zoom into your sleepy expression, his ears perk up as he hears his name from your mouth.
"...A-Ace..."
His lips curl into a more genuine smile as he finishes snapping a picture, pocketing his phone.
"Yeah?"
"Gods...you're so handsome..." You mumble and Ace blushes. Hard.
"You're so kind and gentle...loving too..."
His heart beats and he can hear it echoing louder in his ears. He is almost certain that the blush on his cheeks has spread to his chest and every piece of skin.
Ace quickly throws away the cup noodles, clearing up the table before bracing himself to wake you up. You looked absolutely beautiful and adorable but he knew if he didn't wake you up to finish that English essay, he could say bye-bye to his midnight Striker-rides privileges. (To this day, he still doesn't know where you would hide Striker's keys.)
"L-Love you, Ace..."
His hand froze centimeters from your hoodie and his eyes widen dramatically. W-what did you just say?
"Mmph...urgh," You grumble before lifting your head. A small squeak tears from your throat and Ace bursts into laughter. He could almost forget what you said. Almost.
"Ace?" You mutter, rubbing your heads. "Shit, what time is it?"
"Time for you to get a watch!" He parrots one of Luffy's jokes, chuckling as you roll your eyes. "Enough time for me to go back and finish that essay. Hopefully."
As you get up to leave, Ace wants to ask that question. He wants to know if you really meant what you said, or if his ears misheard, foolishly leading his heart on. But you've already left the convenience store and left him behind in a hurricane of thoughts, confusion, and hope of your own doing.

Renovating my room means I'm blasting music through the speaker. And I am also just stuck on Hozier's music (if u don't know him— now you do). So, here are Hozier's music that I think suits the following OP men!
Tumblr media
Featured Characters: Ace, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Brook, and Usopp
CW: Suggestive Content (it's Hozier. Ofc, there're going to be some feral undertones)
Note: I might edit this and add more if I feel like it.
Portgas D. Ace
Tumblr media
I had a thought, dear However scary About that night The bugs and the dirt Why were you digging? What did you bury Before those hands pulled me From the earth?
I will not ask you where you came from I will not ask you, neither should you
Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips We should just kiss like real people do
To Ace, you were the one who brought him back to life and away from the darkness of his own mind. There was that understanding between the two of you. Both knew the other had a past haunting like a shadow.
He won't pry. He won't undo the stitches of whatever had hurt you in the past. Let the ghosts stay as they are— just let him love you now. Two people that simply fell in love with each other.
The two of you feel like broken pieces of a whole to form a mosaic in each other's embrace. It becomes a chaotic madness that only the two of you could understand the raw beauty of it.
Monkey D. Luffy
Tumblr media
Boys workin' on empty Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat? I just think about my baby I'm so full of love I could barely eat There's nothing sweeter than my baby I'd never want once from the cherry tree 'Cause my baby's sweet as can be She give me toothaches just from kissin' me When, my, time comes around Lay me gently in the cold dark earth No grave can hold my body down I'll crawl home to her
As playful as Luffy can be, he's fiercely loyal. He'll go through hell and back just to have you in his arms. May it be against the world, heavens, or even the universe its— he won't let it take you away. He can't lose another loved one.
He's already done this for so many people. No pain nor torture could stop this man from being with you. Not even the gods can help the ones who even dare try to.
The guy won't die for you. Luffy would make sure he's alive to make sure you're safe and happy. That's why not even death could keep him away.
Roronoa Zoro
Tumblr media
You know better, babe, you know better, babe Than to smile at me, smile at me like that You know better, babe, you know better, babe Than to hold me just, hold me just like that
I know who I am when I'm alone I'm something else when I see you You don't understand, you should never know How easy you are to need
Don't let me in with no intention to keep me Jesus Christ, don't be kind to me Honey, don't feed me, I will come back
A man of solitude finally found the place to call his home. Zoro keeps to himself, and yet you wormed your way into his life without realizing the effect you had on him.
There's a silent intensity to it. He's a man of strict self-discipline. He knows who he is. But with you? Gods, a switch turns on in his brain that makes him feral.
The warmth of your soul seeped deep into the crevices of his bones and warmed him from the inside. How could he not need you and the warmth you've shown him?
Sanji
Tumblr media
I'd be the voice that urged Orpheus When her body was found (hey ya) I'd be the choiceless hope in grief That drove him underground (hey ya) I'd be the dreadful need in the devotee That made him turn around (hey ya) And I'd be the immediate forgiveness In Eurydice Imagine being loved by me!
I won't deny I've got in my mind now all the things we'd do So I'll try to talk refined for fear that you find out how I'm imaginin' you
Oh, everyone knows Sanji isn't by any means silent with his affections. But behind those honey-like words of adoration? Behind the hands that hold you so tenderly? There's an underlying heat to it that consumes him whole.
He won't tell you— not yet. Too afraid to scare you away by the growing desire in his chest. He doesn't just want you. He needs you.
That's why he'll put up a front of a dignified lover to you. Fawning over every little detail of your being while his fingers ache to feel the warmth of your bare skin.
Brook
Tumblr media
She's gonna save me, call me "baby" Run her hands through my hair She'll know me crazy, soothe me daily Better yet, she wouldn't care We'll steal her Lexus, be detectives Ride 'round picking up clues We'll name our children, Jackie and Wilson Raise 'em on rhythm and blues
Lord, it'd be great to find a place we could escape sometime Me and my Isis growing black irises in the sunshine Every version of me dead and buried in the yard outside We'd sit back and watch the world go by
In the vast lonely life Brook lived, there was something about you that made him forget what loneliness ever felt like in the first place. You're just it to him.
No matter how peculiar he may seemed— you were always there by his side. Laughing along his jokes. Even matching his humor and love for music.
You are his muse. And he'd gladly play the ballad of your love until the end of time, if you'd let him.
Usopp
Tumblr media
Remember once I told you 'bout How before I heard it from your mouth My name would always hit my ears As such an awful sound And the soul, if that's what you'd call it Uneasy ally of the body It felt nameless as a river undiscovered underground
And the first time that you kissed me I drank dry the River Lethe The Liffey would have been softer on my stomach all the same But you spoke some quick new music That went so far to soothe this soul As it was and ever shall be Unearth without a name
Some part of me must have died The first time that you called me baby And some part of me came alive The first time that you called me baby
Usopp knew that there was this part of him that felt hollow with all the grandoise stories he tells. And the way you would always listen to him as if you truly believed his words made him feel as though he was saved.
Bit by bit, he no longer lived in the tales he spun in his mind. He lived in the moment— with you. All the adventures you two would go on together were all he could ever talk about now.
It felt great because it was real. You were real. Choosing him despite all his flaws and quirks. To have given him the honor to hold your heart in his hands and be the one to protect it.

Portgas D. Ace
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
🔥 Ace has a very physical love style, he enjoys expressing himself through touch and affection. Though it makes the situation at hand all the more difficult, he would never complain or be upset about it. He understands, he truly does. Ace just doesn’t understand how else he can fully convey his love other than affection. He believes actions weigh more than words and even though he always tells {Name} just how much he loves them, it just never felt adequate. Ace never once desired to push {Name} beyond their limitations.
🔥It was obvious there was aversion to touch and affection. {Name} had always kept people at arm's length, Ace was a little closer than most and he treasured the trust placed in him by his partner. Ace came to learn through their mannerisms and occasional openings in their guard about how they were uncomfortable with physical touch and the idea of being intimate. Ace held off on affection, unless he felt {Name} was having a good day, he moved slowly and always checked to truly make sure they were fine. If any minute reaction showed discomfort or fear, he would leave them be and comfort them when {Name} apologized for being this way.
🔥Ace felt there were strides of progress, regarding his relationship with {Name}. They had gotten into a comfort zone of sorts, hand holding and the occasional hug was steadily becoming more frequent and comforting, sometimes it was even {Name} to be the one to initiate. Maybe due to the constant security and comfort Ace provided, {Name} felt safe enough to divulge their very painful past. The trauma that made them this way and how that trauma made even the most gentle of touch feel like fire and fear in one fatal combination.
🔥{Name} dug deep to pull everything up and out. They thought they would be ready to discuss everything, it proved not to be the case. The revisitation of trauma set the panic deep in their bones, they choked up. The cold feeling began to run down their shoulders, down their back as the feeling faded from their hands and feet. The tears came out uncontrollably.  Ace panicked internally, he didn’t want to show it outright in case it made {Name’s} current state worse. He comforted them, speaking in a soft voice telling them it was alright not to face it right now, not until {Name} was ready. He informed them over and over again how {Name} never had to force themselves to do anything.
🔥They sputtered never ending apologies on repeat, alternating between words of self blame and apologies to Ace. This had sent {Name} back into the worst possible mindset, thanks to how adamantly and patiently Ace listened, comforted them and gently hushed their apologies. He deemed the apologies unnecessary, after all there was no reason for {Name} to say sorry when they were never the ones in the wrong. Maybe it was that very warmth and comfort that helped them gain a grip, something that helped to steady their uneven and shallow breath, easing the pain in their chest. The world stopped spinning and they were calming down.
🔥Ace inwardly blamed himself, the initial happenings he knew was not his fault. He just spiraled with the concept that maybe had he just not been so eager, or forthcoming and overwhelming with his advances then {Name} might not have felt so pressured to discuss this, or put themselves in a position to relive their worst trauma. {Name} never once actually thought like this, they felt so trusting of Ace that they wanted to tell him. Ace smiled on the surface, a soft and meek smile. One designed to comfort his partner without alluding to his true thoughts of guilt and self blame.
🔥It took a lot of communication and understanding to see where both of them were. Trying to hold these fragmented talks while suffering in their own thoughts was only hurting them. {Name} took Ace’s comfort to heart, knowing they weren’t obligated nor were they ready to talk about things and that was okay. Ace communicated his own misunderstanding and insecurities, the talk was difficult but they found a middle ground. A comfortable place in which to meet each other emotionally, taking it one step at a time.
Tumblr media
Sabo
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
🎩 Sabo noticed the hesitation, it was not outright. Hidden, disguised as if {Name} didn’t want him to know. He loves them too much not to notice how they stiffened; the anxiety that passed through their eyes and contorted their expression into fear for an instant. The nervous stumbling of their words when Sabo pulled away in surprise worried about accidentally hurting them. Given his injuries, his scars that remained Sabo related their reaction to something similar. His body had healed, on the surface. The trauma remained and it took a long time without him having to flinch away, associating touch with treatment of his injuries and the grueling pain he had to live through during his recovery. Or how he hated his scars when they first started to settle, the uneven and rough skin under his fingertips. He learned to accept them, live with them and in time liked them as it was his proof of survival, he was still alive. Sabo likened it to a deep rooted trauma, he didn’t bring it up but his actions became more reserved in nature.
🎩 Sometimes it can take the smallest thing to fall over the edge, Sabo’s more and rarer playful side came out when he and {Name} were sharing some banter, joking around and the like. Sabo playfully grabbed their wrist in the hopes of pulling them in for a kiss, but what ensued was nothing he expected. {Name} was fine one moment, the next it looked like their world shattered. He let go, panicking and asking what happened, did he grab too hard? {Name} shook their head, dismissing it with a strained smile. The cold sweat didn’t convince him when they showed so much fear. Sabo had noticed it a while ago. He gently broached the topic, not wanting the details but he needed to know. Sabo wanted to know how he could help. How he could protect them and prevent anything that could hurt them.
🎩Nothing really could have prepared Sabo, for what {Name} entrusted to him. A very bleak and too upsetting for words recollection of the incidents that made them this way. Sabo felt angry, towards the people who hurt his partner, towards himself for not realizing some of his actions could have triggered them. Logically, he knew it wasn’t his fault. He didn’t know of the situation and couldn’t change it. He felt sad seeing how heartbroken and frightened {Name} was. Not only from recalling the vivid and horrific memories but also from their fear that Sabo might perceive or treat them differently, in a bad way. They had been on the terrible side of listening to those who blamed {Name} for what happened in the past. {Name} grew to believe what was said, that it was their fault.
🎩 Listening to how their words laced their own blame into it. “I shouldn’t have… they wouldn’t have.. I was the one…” Sabo only grew angrier towards the people, the vicious attitude they must have had upon saying those poisonous words to {Name}. Things that led to self doubt and blame. Sabo approached them, carefully enough to see if his touch and comfort would be welcomed. He could only hold them, swallowing his own anger. He pushed it aside, to whisper the words of validation they so desperately needed. Even the simple statement “It wasn’t your fault.” Brought tears to {Name’s} eyes, his voice resonates so deeply, unearthing all of those suppressed feelings that they held back. At this point all Sabo could offer is comfort and security, away from the memories.
🎩 He tried to take their mind off of it. Trying to calm {Name} down and offer whatever reassurance he could. From the beginning he had been undemanding. {Name} never felt things in the way of obligation, they never felt forced to do anything. Sabo had created a safe space for them truly, one where they learned the hardships of healing but healing nevertheless. He helped and supported with what he could. Giving {Name} space when they needed it, giving them comfort and support when they wanted it. Sabo knew he could not change the past, nor what happened to his partner. But he could try to help them now and in the future. The past may have been full of hurt and terror, he tries, strives to make sure that the future will never be like that. Neither for him, nor {Name}.

Comfort - Portgas D. Ace
notes - AHHH IM HERE!! Sorry this took so long, I was really busy this week going to concerts, going to work, stuff at home, and setting up my new room, so chaos has been more than normal for me this week lol. But I am so glad I got to write such a relaxing Ace fic, this was really nice for me to just spill out of my soul! This was also for that poll I did earlier this week! I hope my Ace lovers enjoy this one and have a lovely evening! I love you all, stay super hydrated!

"What are you doing?" Ace laughed, watching you dig in the sand like a dog for the fifteenth time.
"I'm telling you, Ace," you tried to explain. "There's gotta be treasure in this sand. The map says so!" You pointed to a map that was sitting next to you; old and covered in sand.
"Isn't that thing like a billion years old?" He picked up the map and turned it over in his hands a bunch, still not understanding how to read it.
"Maybe it is, but who knows, that treasure could still be here!"
Ace just playfully rolled his eyes and grabbed your arm, pulling you out of the sand. "Come on, babe. Let's just get a hotel for the night and wash up. You got sand in your fingernails."
"Yeah, but it's rich Alabasta sand, so it's fine." you joked, following Ace and taking back your map.
"Still gross though." he teased, running his hand to your lower back and pressing a kiss to your cheek.
The two of you walked for a while to the nearest town, not even realizing how late it had been. When you walked into town, it was pitch black and freezing cold.
Ace shivered and held open the hotel door for you. "Man, it's cold."
"Maybe cuz you always have your nips out, Ace." you said, pressing a kiss to his cheek and thanking him for holding the door.
"You leave my nips alone!" he defended, dramatically pressing his hand to his chest.
You turned to him, shocked that would say such a stupid thing in a lobby with people in it, but just rolled your eyes.
He smirked at you and grabbed your hand, getting the two of you a nice room.
Once there, it was like heaven. You slipped off your shoes and threw yourself onto the bed with pure joy painted onto your face.
"Scoot over, y/n," Ace said, clapping his hands together. "Or I'm gonna land on you."
He didn't even give you time to move and instead landed straight on top of you, making you lose your breath for a second before busting into laughter.
"Ace, what the hell?" you said between deep breaths and a little bit of laughter.
"Oh, damn, you were just so cozy looking, I thought you were the bed." He winked at you and hugged around your waist, burying his face in your chest.
"Wait!" You jumped off of the bed, making Ace pout. "Before you go burying your face anywhere, I'm taking a shower. I smell like," you took a whiff of yourself and dramatically fake gagged. "Yeah, I smell like I should probably take a shower."
"Let's save water then," Ace smiled, taking off his hat and already slipping off his shorts to just a pair of boxers. "Lemme take one with you."
You couldn't say no to someone who you loved with all your heart and so happened to be pressing kisses down your neck.
"Fine," you said, pushing his face away. "But you're washing your own hair."
"What?!" Ace exclaimed, pouting. "But I haven't had head scratchies in ages! Not fair."
You turned on the shower, stripped down, and waited for the water to heat up as Ace sat behind you, whistling and reminding you how pretty you were. You blushed, of course, and turned to Ace, smacking him on the bare arm.
"Owie! What was that for? I was calling you pretty!"
"For making me blush." you said, turning away, your face as bright as a tomato at this point.
Ace grabbed your hand and pulled you into the shower, sighing at the warm water. He rubbed your shoulders while you washed your hair and would occasionally whisper sweet nothings into your ear as you washed your body, washing his own self in the process.
You two hadn't had self care like this in forever and it felt nice to just enjoy yourselves for a while. Being on his little boat was stuffy and the last time you had stayed in a hotel as nice as this was when you first joined his crew, which feels like ages at this point.
You looked at yourself in the mirror as you wrapped your towel around you and saw Ace behind you with stupid goo goo eyes. You turned towards him and gave him a peck on the lips before turning back and drying yourself off.
"I'm gonna ask for about six more of those kisses, cutie, so you best be prepared for that." he whispered in your ear before placing a kiss onto it and drying his own self off.
You took one of Ace's shirts that he took and didn't even bother to put on any pants over your underwear as you walked over to the bed, yawning. When you slammed yourself onto the soft mattress, Ace laid right next to you and smiled.
"Can I get another one of those kisses?" he asked nicely.
You obliged and gave him another quick peck.
He pouted and then asked, "Yeah, but longer. Can I give you a kiss this time?"
You thought about it and then smiled with a little nod.
Ace apparently took that as his opportunity to be his hottest self and tilted your chin up and bringing your face as close as possible before pressing a long kiss to your lips that made you hungry for more.
When he pulled away, he smiled at you and you hugged around the back of his neck. Ace rubbed little circles into your back and buried his face in the crook of your neck.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too, Ace."
It was nice to get a bit of comfort in a world where you two were always being chased.

Again And Again
Portgas D Ace X Reader
-Amatsuki Y/N decided to stay in the future without her sister upon meeting a friend’s son.
Chapter 11: A Dream Within a Dream
You looked at the newspaper in your hand, tears flooding your eyes as you read the headline:
"Rookie Pirate, Son of Revolutionary Leader Dragon, Monkey D. Luffy, to Be Executed in Marineford"
Your heart sank at the devastating news. The name "Marineford" brought back a rush of painful memories – memories of loss, sacrifice, and the war that had changed your life forever. Now, it seemed history was about to repeat itself, and you couldn't bear the thought of going through this war again.
As you looked at Ace, you could see the happiness in his eyes, unaware of the devastating news that awaited him. Your heart ached at the thought of what Luffy had done in the past to save him, and you couldn't bear the idea of leaving him now.
Torn between the duty to protect Luffy and the desire to stay by Ace's side, you felt overwhelmed with emotions. You knew that Luffy had risked everything to rescue Ace from execution, and now it was your turn to do the same for Luffy. But going through this war meant one thing and you knew it, you're going to lose Ace again.
As you struggled with your decision, Ace noticed the distress in your eyes and gently cupped your face in his hands. "Y/N, what's wrong?" he asked, concern etched on his face.
You took a deep breath, trying to find the right words. "Ace," you began, your voice trembling. "Luffy... he's in trouble... They plan on executing him."
Ace's eyes widened in shock, and you could see the worry n his gaze. "What? I have to go help him! I-I have to tell pops."
Marco's understanding gaze provided a sense of comfort amidst the turmoil of emotions swirling inside you. Only he and Edward knew the full extent of your past attempts to save Ace, the countless failures, and the pain that had haunted you. Marco grabs Ace's hand.
"Ace... We can't let you go," Marco said firmly, his voice tinged with worry. The crew looked on in shock at Marco's interference, unsure of how Ace would react to such a bold statement.
"M-Marco, Luffy is my brother. Y-You're not going to forbid me to save him... Are you?"
"A-Ace, I understand how much Luffy means to you, but we can't ignore the dangers," Marco continued, his grip on Ace's hand tightening. "You know what happened to Y/N in the past."
Ace's expression wavered, torn between his determination to save Luffy and the genuine worry of what his choice might do to you. He turned to you, seeking reassurance and guidance in this difficult moment.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you stepped closer, gently placing your hand on Ace's cheek, your heart heavy with emotion. "Ace, I can't bear to lose you," you said softly, your voice filled with love and vulnerability. "I've seen you die too many times, and each time it breaks me. I can't let that happen again."
"Y/N, please its my brother... I can't not do something." His voice trembled as he leaned into your touch.
You looked up at Ace, the memories of Luffy's tireless attempts to save Ace flooded your mind. The countless times he put his life on the line, faced insurmountable odds, and pushed his limits to the brink just to bring Ace back to safety.
With tears in your eyes, you clung tightly to Ace's hand and nodded in agreement. "I'll help you save Luffy, no matter what it takes, we'll bring him back."
As the ship approached Marineford, you couldn't help but be amazed by the number of allies who had rallied to fight alongside the Straw Hat crew. The sight was overwhelming and filled your heart with gratitude and awe. Countless pirate crews and individuals had come together, united by the shared respect and admiration they had for Luffy.
As you looked around the chaotic battlefield, you couldn't help but notice the presence of many unfamiliar faces. They were individuals and pirate crews you had never encountered before.
As your ship came closer, the battlefield faltered.
"I-Is that the Whitebeard Pirates?!!"
Ace quickly runs to the bow of the ship, "LUFFY!!!!!!!"
You'd think the reunion between the brothers would be the focal point of the battlefield but, a distant scream from the sky suddenly echoed through the air. The sound sent shivers down your spine, and memories of your first attempt to save Ace came rushing back. You couldn't shake the feeling of déjà vu, the eerie familiarity of the scene unfolding before you.
"YOU STUPID MOSS HEAD!!!!"
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ZORO!!!"
"I SHOULD'VE JUST GONE TO MARINEFORD INSTEAD!!!!"
"I KNEW JOINING YOU GUYS WAS STUPID!!!!!!"
As you looked up to the sky, you couldn't believe your eyes. Descending from the heavens were the same people you had encountered on your first attempt – the Straw Hat Pirates and Dragon, Luffy's father replacing you and Luffy.
"Its the Revolutionary Leader, Dragon!!!"
The Marines were caught off guard by the unexpected arrival of the Whitebeard Pirates and the Impel Down Escapees, led by Dragon. The addition of two powerful forces on the side of the rookie pirate, Monkey D. Luffy, tipped the scales of battle significantly.
~
Finally, the two older brothers reached the execution platform, where Luffy stood defiantly, his eyes locked onto them. The three siblings took no time in removing the chains on Luffy. You felt a rush of relief seeing Luffy liberated, but your mission was far from over. The most dreaded part of this war awaited—the escape.
The scene played out similarly to the past, and you couldn't shake the feeling of déjà vu. The sight of Luffy standing tall, despite his injuries, and the fierce determination in his eyes reminded you of the countless times you had witnessed this moment before. You knew what was coming next, and the weight of the past failures bore down on you.
But this time, something was different. The alliance of the Straw Hat Pirates, the Whitebeard Pirates, and the Revolutionary Army had created a force that the Marines couldn't easily defeat. As Luffy's allies fought tirelessly to protect him, you realized that this was the pivotal moment where history could be rewritten.
The battlefield erupted into chaos, and the war intensified. But you had achieved your immediate goal—to get away, escape. Now, you fought alongside your allies, united in your determination to protect what you held dear.
Just as you thought victory was within reach, history repeated itself. The tides of battle shifted, and the unexpected happened once again. The enemy unleashed a devastating counterattack, catching your group off guard.
Akainu's menacing presence loomed before the brothers, and you felt a surge of fear and determination coursing through you. This was the moment that had haunted you in all your previous attempts, the moment that led to Ace's tragic demise.
Sabo's protective instinct kicked in, and without hesitation, he shielded Luffy from Akainu's deadly attack. Your heart pounded in your chest as you watched Sabo about to take the hit meant for his younger brother.
But just as Sabo was about to save Luffy, Ace stepped forward to protect both of them. He stood tall, blocking Akainu's attack. Memories of the past flashed before your eyes, and you knew that you let history repeat itself.
"Not again... This was supposed to be different..." Tears slowly trickle down your cheek.
You see Ace slowly turn his head to you arm raised trying to reach you. You walked towards them, your heart heavy with emotions. The battlefield was silent, and all eyes were on them.
Your walk slowly turning into a desperate run. Your heart sank as you saw Ace falling to his brothers' arms, his life fading away once again. The scene was painfully familiar, and a wave of grief washed over you.
Your crew stood frozen in place, their eyes locked on you. They knew the significance of this moment. No one dared to intervene or say a word.
You knelt down beside Ace, his brothers clutching him tightly. The anguish in their eyes mirrored the pain in your heart. You gently placed a hand on Ace's cheek, brushing away a strand of hair from his face.
"Ace," you whispered, your voice shaking. "I told you... Y-You..."
Sabos eyes were red with tears, and Sabo's grip on Ace tightened.
"A-Ace," Luffy choked out.
"Y/N, I'm sorry," Ace managed to say, his voice strained.
"I told you, I didn't want you to do this..."
Despite his weakened state, Ace managed a weak laugh as he leaned into your touch. He held your hand in his, grateful for your presence in this crucial moment. He looked over at Sabo, his brother whom he had reunited with not so long ago.
"Hey pretty," he teased, a faint smile on his lips, "Can you not scold me? You're making me look bad."
"You're being stupid." You laughed sadly.
"Sabo, Luffy," he said, "this is Y/N."
Sabo smiled softly, understanding the significance of your presence. "Its nice to meet you," he said, "Thank you for being there for Ace."
You smiled through your tears, touched by Sabo's kindness even in the midst of the chaos. "It's nice to meet you too, Sabo," you replied, your voice still quivering. "Ace has told me a lot about you."
"Luffy, have you forgotten... the manners class? You're supposed to... greet her."
Luffy, though deeply distressed, tried to follow the manners class he had been taught, even in this dire moment.
"Sabo, why aren't you calling for help?!" Luffy looked at his brother, "W-We need to save Ace..."
"Luffy, stop." Ace mutters weakly.
"Ace, you need to get treated!"
Ace took a deep breath before speaking, closing his eyes and smiling. "Hey.. you guys... I want you both to know something..." He chukled to himself, "Y/N, is the most... amazing person I know." He glanced at you, a soft and affectionate look in his eyes. "She's the strogest... and kindest person... I've met. She's fearless in the face of danger, and determined."
Luffy and Sabo exchanged glances, listening to Ace's heartfelt words about you. You smile at his praises.
"She's been trying... to save me," Ace continued. "And, I guess.. I'm stubborn. But she... she doesn't stop."
"Y/N, is the woman I love," Ace said, his voice becoming softer. "I want her to be happy, and I'm glad to have her in my life. Can you both... Help her?"
Ace's words had brought tears to your eyes, and you blinked them away, trying to compose yourself. You felt overwhelmed by the love and affection he had expressed for you, and you were grateful to have him in your life as well.
Ace's placed a gentle kiss on your hand, he looked into your eyes with a mixture of sadness and determination. His voice was gentle, yet firm, as he spoke.
"Y/N, you don't need... to keep suffering like this," he said, his thumb gently wiping away a tear from your cheek. "I don't want you to go through... all this pain and heartache for my sake."
You tried to speak, but your voice caught in your throat. You knew that Ace was right, that your attempts to save him had only brought you more suffering. But you couldn't bear the thought of giving up on him, of letting go of the hope that you could change the future.
"I can't just... let go, Ace," you whispered, your voice trembling. "I love you, and I can't lose you."
Ace's expression softened even more, and he cupped your face in his hands, making sure you looked into his eyes. "I love you too," he said, his voice unwavering. "And that's... exactly why I can't let you keep going through this... I... want you to live... your life without being haunted by the past... How many times have you been going through this?"
"That doesn't matter," you said, tears streaming down your face.
"Y/N," his thumb gently wiping away a tear from your cheek. "How many?"
"482 times." You admit leaning to his touch. "But Ace, I can't just abandon you," you replied, tears streaming down your cheeks. "I can't give up on you."
Ace's gaze softened, and he cupped your face in his hands. "You're not abandoning me," he said gently. "You've already done so much for me, more than I could ever ask for. And now, it's time for you to live your life and find happiness."
As you looked at Sabo, you could see the sadness in his eyes. He too understood the weight of the situation and the difficult choices that had to be made. Sabo had witnessed the depth of your love for Ace and how much you had sacrificed to save him.
"Ace," he said gently, "You don't have to worry okay? We'll take care of Y/N."
Ace's smile brightened at Sabo's words, and he chuckled softly. "You know, knowing you two... idiot brother of mine," he teased, glancing at you with affection. "I can already see... she's probably the one... who's going to take care of you two..."
Sabo chuckled, a hint of warmth in his eyes. "I'm counting on you, Y/N," he said. "We'll make sure to keep each other in check."
Luffy grinned, albeit with a tinge of sadness in his eyes. "I guess I have a sister now," he said cheerfully. "We're gonna have so much fun together, I can already tell!"
Ace watched as his brothers welcomed you into their family, and a sense of happiness filled his heart. He reached out and gently took your hand in his, intertwining your fingers together. The warmth of his touch sent a comforting sensation through your body, and you couldn't help but smile back at him.
Seeing Ace smile, even in the midst of the chaos and uncertainty, brought a sense of peace to your heart. "I don't want you... to forget me," Ace continued, his voice tinged with sadness. "But I want you... to be happy, even if it's without me..."
You held Ace's hand tightly, interlocking your fingers with his. "Ace, how could I ever forget you?" you replied, your voice filled with love and sincerity. "You're a part of me, and no matter what happens, you'll always be in my heart."
Ace's smile softened, but his eyes glistened with unshed tears. "I know, but... I don't want my memory to burden you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I want you... to live a full... and happy life, Y/N, even if... I'm not there with you."
You smile, your tear slowly falling. "I have Sabo and Luffy to keep watch. You don't have to worry."
Ace looked at you with a mixture of emotions in his eyes – love, sadness, and a hint of relief. He knew you were strong and capable, and he trusted his brothers to take care of you. Yet, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of sadness at the thought of being apart from you.
"I know," he said softly, his voice tinged with melancholy. "I trust them, and I trust you... I know you'll take care of each other...."
"I love you..." You remind him.
He gave your hand a gentle squeeze, cherishing the warmth of your touch. His strength slowly faded and a smile remained on his face.
As the light from Ace's eyes faded, a profound sadness washed over you, threatening to consume you entirely.
"Always..." You cried.
You felt a mix of emotions swirling inside you, and you couldn't find the strength to stand on your own. But just as you began to crumble under the weight of your grief, you felt strong arms wrap around you, holding you close.
It was Sabo and Luffy, Ace's brothers, who held you tightly, grieving with you as tears flowed freely from all of your eyes. Together, you formed a circle of support, leaning on each other for strength and comfort. In that moment, you knew you weren't alone in your pain.
Sabo's grip on your shoulder was firm, his silent presence offering you a sense of stability. Luffy clung to your side, sharing in your sorrow, his simple presence a reminder that you were all in this together.
You wept together, finding solace in each other's arms. The loss of Ace was a devastating blow, but you knew you had to be strong for each other. Despite the pain, you drew strength from your bond, the bond that Ace had praised so highly. It was that bond that would carry you through this difficult time.
As the battle raged on around you, you held onto each other, grounding yourselves in memory of Ace. Together, you fought to safety. Carrying his figure with you.
As the sun set on the battlefield, the three of you remained together, a united front in the face of loss. You knew that the road ahead would be difficult, and that grief would linger, but you also knew that you had each other. With Sabo and Luffy by your side, you would find a way to honor Ace's memory and carry on his legacy.

One Piece short hc: Kill That Cockroach PLEASE!!!😨
a/n: so thanks to some cockroaches this idea popped up in my head when I was screaming my lungs out lmao. just some very short hcs I try to finish before 1 am.
scene: Screaming and asking them to kill that abhorrence
Monkey D. Luffy
Doesn't understand why you are so scared because of that little things? Why the fuss?
Will catch the cockroach with bare hands but refuse to kill it
Thinks it's just as cute as a beetle and even names it Hercules lol
There's a good chance he'll ask Usopp to catch a few more for a cockroach sumo festival...
Until Nami shows up and kicks their ass and stops this madness (she is the goddess)
-100/10, never ask Luffy to kill a cockroach for you, or you will be unable to hold his hand for a long long time or die because of a heart attack, either way, 💔
Roronoa Zoro
He doesn't even bat an eye with all the screaming and yelling
Calmly draw his swords out and swsh! rip the cockroach💀
You even feel sorry for it, being sliced into pieces
After that, he would sit down and continue sleeping as if nothing had happened
But don't you be fooled because of that coolness, he's probably chuckling smugly as you stand there in awe and then admiringly tell everyone how heroic he is (because killing a cockroach is somewhat a considerable amount of merit for humanity)
Cause aw, Zoro is just lowkey flex, but only for you. All and all, 100/10 for our swordsman
Portgas D. Ace
Such a reliable and cute guy, so when he hears the first scream from you, there he is, flying all the way from the other side of the deck to you
No one ever has the right to frighten his lover, even a cockroach, he will not forgive it.
Become overly enthusiastic about annihilating cockroaches, most likely end up smashing some walls or setting things on fire.
Either way, eventually that obnoxious thing will be roasted in the fire, and Ace will proudly look at you waiting for your compliment, surrounded him is a pile of rubbers from the raid.
Knowing too well that you two will be scolded by Marco after this, but for now, just-just kiss and hug him as a thank you ok? because he deserves so 💕
10-1/10 for the damage.
Sabo
Normally, he's very cute and all, but at times like this, he really is the worst, dammit
Loves seeing you nervously hide behind him, frantically call for help; he's into that poor look on your face so much that he wants to tease you a little more by doing nothing ?
It's only when you hug him tremblingly, looking up at him with puppy dog eyes filled with tears of supplication, that he will kill the cockroach for you
Traditional guys, kill it with an insect swatter, and with one blow only
Demands kiss from you after it, and even though he's such a bastard, the fact is he still saves you from that scary thing is enough to forgive him. Sometimes that one kiss may even progress to something else 👀
10+1/10 for things that happen afterward lmao
Trafalgar Law
Sighs and sighs a lots
Knows very well from the start why there's howling on his ship at 2am. "Must be y/n-ya *sigh*"
Shows up just in time to "ROOM" that disgusting creature out of your room and throw it into the sea, letting the water pressure do the rest
Acting cranky and disinterested as you hug him and chirped happily but deep down, he's really enjoying it (tsundere confirmed)
As in fact, he can easily disinfect the whole submarine and kill all the cockroaches but no, he prefers you to look for him, rely on him, and kiss him for saving your life more 😏
What a sly guy, but well, 10/10 for the quick action, as long as you are not touched by that, everything is fine.
Sanji
Uhm, no ? YOU are the one who is going to kill the cockroach, not him...
He's just as scared of cockroaches as you are, maybe even worse
Gonna scream with you
Even though he's really scared, he'd still want to be your knight, would try his best to come near the cockroach without crying out loud, but when it starts to fly
Gonna scream with you p2
"IT IS COMING THIS WAY DO SOMETHING SANJI!!!"
"BUT Y/N THAT THING IS FLYING! IT IS FLYING!"
"JDCBERHGERCEBE" "HJCDVBEERVGEVREV" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the end of the day, it's Robin who saves the world for both of you. She just calmly pick up the cockroach by her devil fruit ability and smash it and smiles gleefully as you two throw yourselves to her and hug her, crying your eyes out
0/10, Sanji might be your prince but when it comes to insects in general, he's just a baby🥺

Hello! I hope you are doing well💕 If you are okay with it, and you have the time, I just can't stop thinking about a scenario where Ace is feeling insecure about himself and he feels like his s/o is burdened by him, and his s/o comforts him and tells him how much they love him💕💕 Sorry if it's a little vauge! I've been craving for Ace angst fluffs for a long time (I'm sorry if there was already a post written about this!) Thank you so much💕
Characters: Portgas D. Ace (One Piece)
Warnings: Self deprecation
Genre: Angst
Tumblr media
There were often times when Ace sat alone and pondered the thought of how you would be so much better off without him, when he wondered why it was him out of everyone you could have chosen. He trusted that you loved him, but there was always that nagging voice in the back of his mind who told him that it was out of pity.
They know how sad you look all the time and only want to make you feel a little better about yourself. It’s to boost their own ego. Don’t they want to feel like they’re the hero?
He’d shake the intrusive voice from his head while he wiped a tear from his cheek. He was crying? How pathetic. He thought to himself. Ace couldn’t believe he was crying over something so stupid.
“There you are!” he could hear the smile in your voice as you approached him and he recoiled. If he was being honest, you were the last person he wanted to see right now. After all, he wanted this time to himself to consider if being with you was the right thing. This wasn’t for him, it was for you. You deserved so much better. You had to know and understand that.
But still, you came up to Ace without a care in the world, with that wonderful grin on your face whenever your eyes met with his. You stood beside him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. A customary gesture. Though, when you saw him flinch away from your touch, your face dropped, as did your shoulders, and the smile you once wore.
“Ace? Are you okay?” your words were laced with worry and your doe eyes looked up at him with anticipation for what he was going to say.
He took a deep breath. “I’ve just been thinking about us.”
You spoke slowly. “What… about us?”
Ace scratched his head and sighed, mostly to himself as he was trying his best to put this gently. It took a moment for him to talk again but in those moments, he could tell just how worried you were because he knew you were thinking the worst. “I think we should break up…”
You chewed your bottom lip between your teeth. “Why? I thought we were doing just fine?”
“You don’t understand how much better you deserve.”
He watched your entire body relax and your eyes soften. “Ace,” you placed your hand on his warm cheek and he melted into your touch. “You’re doing it again. Don’t project the feelings that you think I should have about you. You understand how happy you make me.”
“But-”
“There’s no buts. Ace, I am so ridiculously in love with you and the fact that you can’t see that just means that I guess I’ll need to show it even more than I already do.”
“I do see it and that’s the problem. It’s not worth it…”
You laughed softly to yourself. “Please, Ace. If I thought this wasn’t, I wouldn’t have continued being by your side after all these years. I promise that you’re worth it. You’re worth every moment of my time and there’s no one that I would rather be spending it with than you.” You gave him a loving kiss on his lips that he melted into just as much as he did with your hand.
“I don’t want you to think otherwise.” you say against his lips.
He was grateful. You always lifted him back up again when he was in this kind of mood. More than once has he wanted to break up with you for feeling so inferior as a person. But you were there for him to reassure him that you were there for a reason. That reason being him.

Hi. I've been dealing with a real shit situation for the last few days. It's bad and it's gonna set my family back financially so may I request.. some kind words of encouragement :)
Hello my love!! I'm so sorry you're going through such a rough time right now. Please know I care about you and love you, and I truly apologize for being able to help you, I wish you the best of luck!❤️❤️ Since you didn’t specify what character you wanted, I kind of just did a few popular babes wishing you luck/handling the situation with you!!
Tumblr media
Some OP Baes Wishing You Good Luck
The boys:
Monkey D. Luffy - Can he punch someone for you? Maybe punch the problem?? If he can’t punch his way out of the situation for you, he will suggest you two get some food. Eating helps him, so maybe it will help you too!! Does his best to listen, even if he doesn’t understand.
Roronoa Zoro - Despite his bored, tired look, he makes sure you take care of yourself. If the problem can’t be solved, he will sit through it with you. He gets extra soft when those tears start falling, will literally do whatever you say, though if you mention his soft behavior, he will deny it.
Vinsmoke Sanji - Canonly, he could just pay whatever financial issue is going on. However, in the real world, he would do his best to give your words of praise and love! He’s a words of affirmation lover, so you will be told how amazing you are about 6 times in an hour-
Portgas D. Ace - He’s another word of affirmation lover, so will serenade you away in hopes it can help with your worries. He also is a prankster, so he might make some jokes or do something dumb to help! Expect lots of laughs when you are with this man!
Marco - Does his best to listen, spends time with you on how to work out the problem and brings suggestions you might not have thought about. He relatively calm, so he’s great to go to for a good cry if you need it, he doesn’t mind and will be a shoulder to cry on.
Trafalgar D. Water Law - Is the type to do little things for you while you handle the situation. He likes to solve things himself, so he feels letting you handle the issue with less stress of other things is the best option. If you need his help, he will mostly take over since he likes things a certain way. Let him go Karen please-
Eustass “Captain” Kid - Similar to Luffy, he wants to punch his way out of the situation. Gets aggravated very easily when things don’t go his way. He would be great if you need to talk to someone and you are anxious, a far worse Karen than Law-
Killer - Out of the pair, he’s the chiller one. He tries to think logically and will work to find a way to make extra money and even solve the problem. He is probably the best bet to get you out of the situation. He can put up with Kid, so of course he can do anything!
Sabo - Another one who might go Karen, he’s a salty boy who will speak about how the society is to blame. Honestly, I could see him being a lawyer if he didn’t snap so easily. However, due to his way with words, he is also great at comfort and knows just what to say to cure your sadness!
Yamato - He does his best to understand and help when he can, but alas he’s just as lost on what to do. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t help though! He’s a quick learner on tasks and can help where maybe someone in the family couldn’t, give him some praise and head pats, and you got yourself a good boy!
Mihawk - Man has money both in the canon and if he were in this world. I could see him letting your family take out a small loan that doesn’t require interest, cause deep down man is a good guy and he knows you need help. Will let an ear to hear you out and offer some advice if needed.
Doffy - Doffy-- this man-- he would offer money in the exchange for something. I would suggest not take it, but I mean everyone has their issues. If you don’t he will be salty about it and tell you not to talk to the concern to him. He feels hurt now that you didn’t agree to his terms. He’s a brat-
Shanks - A good boy!! Does his best to help and offers to show you the positives of the situation! He knows what it’s like being at rock bottom, but he also knows you will eventually float back up! Great for needing a lift in times of need!
The girls:
Nami - Offers you a loan with a 17% interest rate, she’s giving you a discount so be grateful- honestly though, she will offer an ear to listen and try to suggest ideas she has done in the past to make money. They aren’t always legal, so take that with a grain of salt-
Nico Robin - She’s one of the best to turn to when you need someone to listen to. She won’t offer advice unless you want it, and has a way that just soothes you without her having to say anything in return. Also is great at negotiating if you need to on paying bills, just let her do the talking and all will be good!

Burn
Pairing: Portgas D. Ace x Reader
Summary: For Ace you’d do anything; even set yourself on fire if it meant he’d be safe, happy, and most importantly, alive.
The Sun - Part 2
Word Count: 2.4k
A/N: I’ve finished this and it has finished me. That’s all I wanted to say. 🤐 Jk... English isn’t my first language and I haven’t proofread this so I’m sorry if there’s grammatical errors and typographical errors. Also, I’d love to hear what your thoughts are on this 🥺✌🏼
Tumblr media
There’s something about Ace that makes you so attracted to him. You couldn’t really pinpoint what it is. You aren’t sure if it’s his boyish smile, cocky smirk, lovely freckles, lean figure, easygoing and carefree attitude, the generous compliments he gives, or all of the above.
The dynamic between the two of you is almost like how a moth is attracted to a flame. But then again, Ace isn’t merely a flame. He’s more likely the sun — bright, warm, and all-consuming.
However, you can only ever get so close to the sun before you actually burn.
It was only in hindsight that you realize you should’ve kept your distance with Ace.
Maybe you shouldn’t have gotten through all the trouble of fighting against the bandits that started a brawl with the Spade Pirates at your hometown. Maybe you shouldn’t have fallen for Ace’s compliments on your skills on using knives as weapons. Maybe you shouldn’t have accommodated his curiosity on how to wield it. Maybe you shouldn’t have held his hand as you tried to show him the proper way of handling the knife. Because quite frankly, that one touch had sparked something in you. And it was that touch that started this whole mess — the mess of falling truly, madly, deeply in love with Portgas D. Ace.
But Ace only sees you as a crewmate of the Spade Pirates and later on as a subordinate when he became the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates.
Unfortunately, you know that’s all you’ll ever be.
You can tell that Ace has no interest in falling in love — at least not yet; not until he achieves his goal. And you hate to admit it, but even after all the years you spend following him, you still have no idea what his true goal is. You aren’t even sure if you’ll ever find it out. Because unlike you, Ace knows how to keep a safe distance from people.
There’s only one time that Ace allowed himself to blur the lines of friendship, and it was when you were both too drunk after celebrating a successful mission together. Somehow in the middle of your conversation, in a drunken haze, he leaned into you and kissed you on the lips. And as expected of you, you kissed him back with equal fervor.
That night, you have learned that fire is quite a fitting power for Ace. If his lips were fire, then your blood was gasoline. His kiss ignited everything in you until you’re fully consumed by him.
The next day came by way too quickly, but… he had no memory of what had transpired, and you wished it was the same with you. It would’ve been easier to live in blissful ignorance, but instead of that, you’re left to treat the burns that Ace unknowingly left in his wake — not physically, of course, he would never hurt you that way, but it doesn’t exactly hurt any less.
No matter how hurt you’ve been that night, you didn’t really stay away from Ace. You’re just so stubborn and unrelenting that you continue to tredge the line that Ace has so clearly drawn.
And it’s because of that attitude that you have taken it upon yourself to find Ace and stop him searching for Teach. Marco couldn’t stop him, maybe even Deuce wouldn’t, but you might be able to, because you aren’t afraid to burn, at least not any more than you already have. And this makes all the difference between you and Ace’s friends, although he has yet to realize that.
You find Ace in Mock Town. He’s walking the street with his back to you.
There’s no doubt that you’re extremely worried about him but with how long you traveled just to get to him, you have started to feel angry because of his reckless actions.
So instead of calling out his name to get his attention, you grab one of the daggers strapped to your legs and throw it at him. With Ace’s logia-type power, it only goes through him. Ace doesn’t even stop walking.
Since his back is facing you, you couldn’t tell what type of look he has on his face, although you’re willing to bet your life that he has an arrogant smirk on his face. You’re tempted to throw another dagger at him and use your haki, but that would be too much; your intent is to get his attention, not to hurt him, no matter how annoying he can be.
The dagger lands a few feet away from Ace and he walks up to grab it. He tenses a bit after he crouches down and picks it up. You know he recognizes the unique handle of the weapon. Before you know it, he turns his body around to find you, sporting that awfully breathtaking smile that makes you go crazy.
For a moment your anger dissipates while your heart stutters across your chest. You wonder, “Why does the sun still bother rising when Ace obviously shines so much brighter?”
But your thoughts are cut off when all of a sudden you’re tackled into a hug by Ace. Your mind automatically goes blank.
You have no problem with skinship and Ace doesn’t mind too, but a hug certainly isn’t how the both of you greet each other.
The hug is short lived as Ace pulls away before you can even wrap your arms around him. He then proceeds to throw his arm over your shoulder. He starts walking with you across the town, the grin on his face never leaving. “Ya know, I just saw my brother a while back in Alabasta!” He happily tells you.
You’re happy for Ace, you really are, but you have to admit that you’re a tad bit disappointed. You’re disappointed that his excitement isn’t because of you; it’s more like leftover enthusiasm he had after seeing his little brother. But you chase those thoughts away immediately, knowing full well it’s unreasonable for you to expect something like that from Ace.
He continues telling you about his brother and his crew with that proud expression reserved for talks about Luffy. With the way he’s animatedly speaking, you couldn’t help the smile form on your lips. It’s at this moment that you realize that you’d do absolutely anything and everything for Ace to be happy and remain happy.
You’re listening intently as he recounts every single thing that happened during their encounter. By the time he’s done, he turns to you and asks, “Oh, by the way, what’cha doing here?”
You shrug. “I came to get you,” you casually say.
He retracts his arm that’s draped on your shoulder. He drops his smile as well. “No.”
“Stop making a fuss, Commander. Pops wants you back on the ship.”
“I said no. I’m going to find Blackbeard and teach him a lesson.”
You grit your teeth at annoyance while Ace stares you down. Noticing the people listening in on your conversation, you stride to Ace, use your haki to grab his wrist, and then lead him to an abandoned alleyway. The touch immediately quickens your pulse rate, but you don’t let it waver you.
You let go of his wrist once you reach the alleyway. When you turn to face him, you can instantly tell that he’s taken aback by your actions. It’s not often you act like this when things don’t go your way after all.
“Commander, come back to the crew,” you say once again.
“No!” He stubbornly says. You can tell he’s getting angry by the flames that started appearing on his shoulders. “Teach broke the iron rule in the ship! Thatch won’t be able to rest peacefully and Pops—”
“I know, Commander!” You raise your voice. “I know this!”
“Great! Now let me be,” he says as he turns his back to leave.
“Goddammit Ace! Why are you doing this again?!” You exclaimed, clenching your fists in the process. Ace stops in his tracks upon hearing you. He’s surprised that you’ve addressed him by his name. “Why are you so dead-set on carrying the burden alone? Can’t you see how reckless you’re being? You’re diving headfirst into something dangerous!”
“Do you think I’m weak?” He asks, still with his back to you.
“No.”
“Then trust me on this.”
You scoff. “Not everything is a matter of strength.”
Ace pivots his body so he’s facing you and then he leans against the wall. He crosses his arms and gives you a look to continue your speech.
“Has it ever crossed your mind that we want to avenge Thatch as well? I know you two were close since you’re both Commanders, but we were close too!”
“I’m Teach’s Commander, that’s why I have to—”
You don’t listen to him speak, opting to continue what you’re saying. “Thatch was like an older brother to me. But I lost him. I don’t want to lose you too,” you whisper almost inaudibly. “Because I love you…”
Ace freezes at your declaration, but he’s quick to recover and says, “You know I love you too.”
You sigh and look at him in the eyes. Tears are forming in your eyes, making Ace look blurry. “But not in the same way, right?”
Ace goes silent. But his eyes could communicate with you in ways you’d never understand. His eyes never lie, and from them you can clearly see the guilt of not being able to reciprocate your feelings.
Oh, how things change so quickly. Back then, you’d be ecstatic whenever his eyes would land on you. Back then, you’d do anything to keep his eyes on you a little longer. But now, you just wish he stopped looking at you with those eyes.
“I’d die for you,” he says after a while, as if it’s the answer you’re searching for.
This would’ve been such a romantic thing to say for others, but it doesn’t hold the same weight if Ace says this. You know he would risk his life for anyone on the crew, not just you.
“But that’s the thing. I don’t want you to die for me, I want you to live, even if it’s not for me or with me,” you exasperatedly tell him.
Ace’s eyes widen, almost as if you’ve reached something deep inside him with what you’ve just said.
“I knew it from the beginning that you don’t love me the same way, so it’s fine. But that doesn’t matter.”
You try changing the topic in order to shift your focus, “Listen, Commander,  I’m not telling you to sit still and forget about Teach. You said so yourself, you’re his Commander, but you’re my Commander too, along with the rest of the Second Division. And right now, we need you. Hell, even Pops needs you.
“I know Pops won’t let Teach get away with this either, but he knows this isn’t the right time yet. Let’s gather intel first, before doing anything.”
Ace remains silent, obviously thinking about what you’ve just said.
“Does that sound good, Commander?” You ask quietly.
He nods his head slowly.
You hum. “Alright. Now that that’s settled, let’s head on to your Striker.”
The walk back to the port is unusually silent. Ace has one of his hands in his pocket while the other on his hat. You, on the other hand, are staring straight ahead, recounting the conversation that has just happened.
Truthfully, the conversation didn’t go as you planned. You’re certain that convincing Ace would be so much harder. In fact, you’ve readied yourself to pick a fight with him if he didn’t want to go back to the crew.
You’ve prevented the fight from happening at the expense of your stupid confession. And you aren’t sure if it’s for the better or for the worse.
A part of you knows it’s for the better, because this way Ace would be safe. But the pain coursing all throughout your body and the tears that you’re trying so hard to hold back makes you doubt it a little bit.
By the time you both reach the port, you head on straight to your boat and grab the supplies you have already separated for Ace. You throw the sack at him and he catches it with ease.
“You have Marco’s vivre card, right?” You ask.
He nods.
“Good. Just follow that. With the Striker, I’m sure you’ll reach the crew in a week or two.”
“You aren’t coming with me?”
You shake your head. “No. I actually have another mission to do,” you lie. You raise your right hand to point to the town. “Actually I’m heading there right now,” you say as you slowly walk backwards away from Ace. “So, see you in a month, I guess?”
You turn around to head back to the town, but Ace grabs a hold of your hand. “Wait!”
Ace isn’t using his powers, but why does his touch burn?
You look back at him, but your eyes refuse to meet his, so instead, you stare at the knife safely strapped on his hips. It’s the knife you originally owned but you have given it to him as a sign of your loyalty when he became your captain.
He removes his hold on you.
“What?” You ask.
“I can help you with it and we’ll—”
“No, don’t,” you sharply say.
Ace flinches at your tone.
You internally scold yourself for your hostility. Ace doesn’t deserve this. It isn’t his fault he doesn’t like you the same way. You sigh, “I’m sorry. I’ll just… see you off first before I go do this mission.”
You don’t leave any option for him so he has no choice but to comply. You can only watch in silence as Ace prepares to leave.
The truth is that you don’t have any mission aside from bringing Ace back to the crew. But you know Ace, you know that he’s not going to be able to stop thinking about Blackbeard and his deed. He won’t ever be able to rest properly and peacefully if no one’s going to continue this search. So for once, you’re shouldering this task for him.
It’s a dangerous mission, you’re aware. Espionage isn’t exactly what you’re best at. But for Ace you’d do this. For him, you’d set yourself on fire if it meant keeping him safe. For Ace you’d even die as long as he lived.
Once he has safely boarded on his raft, you both bid each other goodbyes. Even if you’re determined to get back to him, somehow it feels like this goodbye is going to be the last. And yet, you watch him go along with the sun.

I wasn’t sure where to send the request, but I was wondering is you could do an x reader where the reader was Ace’s girlfriend and after he died and the straw hats were on haitatus she went to train with Laws crew and they fall in love but she’s afraid of getting hurt again by losing someone she loves because important people seem to always die in her life
Tumblr media
Hey,hey, hey!(bokuto's voice) Oh my god! I really enjoyed writing this, thanks for sending me this awesome plot!! Lol I tried my best but I think I was too descriptive (I got too excited and this got longer than I planned...) But I hope you like it!
A/N: I rushed at the end because I felt every brain cell of mine dying as i wrote the smut scene lmaooo
Sorrow
Synopsis: You were Ace's girlfriend and since when he died you've been afraid of losing someone again. Your heart is wrapped up. You feel solitary. But... What if the doctor, Captain Of the Heart Pirates, heals your pain by making you realize that you are capable of loving again?
"I can't control myself anymore"
"Make me yours, Law"
Warnings: angst, smut, implied death, unprotected sex, swear-word
   Word count: 3K
It's all dark. You feel something touching your skin lightly. That touch... you recognize it, that warm touch you are so used to. Suddenly, your vision comes to be brighter, a few seconds have passed when you feel a breath on your face, then you finally see it, It's the man you loved wildly: Portgas D. Ace. As soon as you see him, he stops touching you, posteriorly Ace looks at you with tears in his eyes and starts running away. You don't understand what the hell is happening so you just try to reach him, "Wait!! Ace!!!" : You try to scream but, for some reason, your voice doesn't come out. When you realize, Ace abruptly fades away and then the surroundings are no longer warm. You start to cry, still trying to scream his name but not a single word comes out of your mouth. A deadly hush. "ACE!!! NO!" you try again, nothing. All your efforts are ineffective. You start blaming yourself, hopeless.
"Y/N- ya!!". You hear someone yells. Attempting to come back to your senses, you slowly open your eyes. You feel your sweat rolling down your face and take a deep breath until you feel steady. Eventually, everything seems regular. You see Trafalgar Law staring at you with an apprehensive look and it doesn't take long for him to ask
  " Another nightmare, Y/N- ya?"
"Uh... Apparently yes." You retort, then add "Law... When will this pain go away?"
"It depends on you. Everyone has their traumas, I know it's not easy... But, Y/N, you have to move on." Law replies, using a concerned voice tone.
You start to cry, then you get up from the bed and instantly hug Law. He freezes.
"H-hey...Y/N-ya...uhh. Everything will be alright..." He says embarrassed while patting your back
Law gently moves you away and says "Y-you should grab something to eat, Bepo prepared a breakfast."
"What the hell I just did??!" You think, blushing as you realize the hug you gave Law.
  "O-Ok" You declare.
You were Ace's girlfriend. One year has passed since your boyfriend's death. Portgas D. Ace wasn't just some guy you dated, he was, foremost, your best friend and the only person you could count on.
Your parents died when you were just 10 years old and you grew up cleaning houses, selling stuff you found in the junk, and doing any kind of service for other people. All of these just to survive, relying on a very small amount of money. Then, you met Ace, when you both were 18 years old, he helped you by beating some thieves that stole bellies from you, and little by little you fell in love with each other. Two years have passed when you heard that Ace was captured by the Blackbeard Pirates and taken over by the Navy, who would execute him at Marine Ford. You wanted to go save him immediately but when you declared to the WhiteBeard you would save Ace with him, he didn't let you go. Whitebeard ordered some of his sons to stay with you and prevent you from going with the rest of the numerous crew, as Whitebeard knew that Ace wouldn't be happy to see his girlfriend in the middle of a war. You tried to fight back but it was worthless.
You couldn't sleep and eat properly, fretted over Ace's life. Then, you heard the choking news: Ace died in Luffy's arms at Marine ford.
You couldn't believe it, you just couldn't.
You suffered so much, you only wanted to die because you had totally lost the reason for continuing to exist.  Until  1 month after Ace's death, a huge yellow submarine appeared in front of you, and Trafalgar Law came out of it saying that Luffy asked him to take you and make you stay with his crew. You didn't have anything to lose so you just accepted the offer. Since then, you've been training with Law while the rest of the straw hats are on hiatus.
It's not that you still can't accept Ace's death, you know presently that this kind of tragedies happens. It's just that... you are afraid that something similar occurs again. You are so attached to the Heart Pirates Crew, they are like a family to you, and Law has been great to you ...so your biggest fear is losing them. This sort of thought results in constant nightmares, leaving you scared when you wake up.
"Good morning, everyone!" You say as you approach the kitchen with Law.
Bepo and Shachi are eating some fried eggs and cake, discussing something about the fish Bepo fished earlier being poisonous.
"Hello, Y/N!! Did you have another frightening nightmare?" Bepo asks.
"Yeah, nothing new..." You retort while taking a piece of bacon.
As you walk towards the dinner table to sit on a seat next to Shachi, you notice Law staring at you non stop, making your heart races. "Uhm, what feeling is this?", you keep thinking about it but don't understand what is going on with you so you just ignore it.
The things between you and Law have been weird in the past 3 months since you joined the crew one year ago. He seems more comprehensive with you than usual, Law used to argue with you every time you did something wrong but now... He's changed, in a certain way.
You seat next to Shachi, in front of Bepo and Law. As soon as you realize, Shachi puts on your plate a piece of the cake he is eating.
" Hey, Y/N-chan, you should try this", Shachi says as he looks at you with a smirk.
"Oh, thanks..." You say in an embarrassed voice tone, trying to be polite.
You look at Law and he is still gazing at you, but now he seems uneasy.
You eat the cake, unintentionally, leaving a crumb on the right corner of your mouth.
"Y/N-ya, there's a crumb right there," Law tells you as he points from his seat at the crumb left on your mouth.
"Here?" You attempt to clean it, but you don't succeed since you can't see it.
Shachi quickly says "Let me clean it for you." He presses his finger against the crumb, taking it off for you. Then he caresses your cheeks "Done, Y/N-chan". He gives you a  smirk.
You are uncomfortable, really uncomfortable. "T-thanks..."  You stutter.
You look at Law and he looks pissed as hell but you don't understand why, you just suppose he woke up in a bad mood today.
Law gets up from his chair not saying anything, then he utters "Y/N, a word?"
You don't comprehend why he called you and interrupted your meal, but you feel relieved since you don't have to stand Shachi's inconvenience anymore. You obey him, following Law to his office.
Law could wait for you to eat but he was irritated seeing Shachi shamelessly hitting on you, so he called you just to get you out of there, he knew you were uncomfortable. Besides Law was worried about you, he was jealous. Actually, you are a breath-taking girl, really stunning and beautiful so most of the crew's men always hit on you when they get the chance of doing so. It bothers Law a lot but you'd never imagine that.
As soon as you enter the office, you shut the door. You notice that Law isn't looking you in the eye and then he starts seeking some papers that he left in one of the desk drawers. He grabs the papers and says:
"Y/N-ya, I think I don't have to train you anymore, you seem prepared enough to train haki by yourself from now on." Then, still avoiding to look at you, he orders, coldly.
"So, I need some favors, take these papers that have a list of tasks for you to do at the submarine, most of them are related to repair stuff. " Law putts them in your hands.
"What? Why all of this so suddenly?" You ask.
"It's nothing. Just go." Law replies, indifferently.
You left the office questioning yourself if you've done something wrong for Law to act that way. But not a single idea comes to your mind, so you just decide to do what he ordered since he is your captain.
Six days have passed since then, you've been doing repairs and improvements all over the submarine, and when you get the chance, you train haki and fight skills by yourself. Since the day Law acted weird, he's been more absent than before. Plus, he avoids you every time you try to reach him and you don't understand why, but seeing Law ignoring you makes you feel sad for some reason. You start to think that there's a remote chance of ~maybe~ you had catch feelings for Law. But... You don't wanna accept them, thinking about how much you loved Ace and he died abruptly makes you feel hesitant to love someone again. You are already afraid of losing Law, if you fall in love with him, you fear that the pain you'd feel if he dies, would be worse, like how happened between you and Ace.
On your way towards your room, you see Law entering his office so you decide to go talk to him and ask him why he's acting like that.
You knock on the door. "Come on in," Law says.
As soon as Law sees you, he instantly changes his facial expression, he seems more anxious, uneasy.
"Hi, Law. Can I talk to you for a second?" You ask him as you slowly approach his desk.
"Yes. But be brief, I'm busy." He declares with a coldhearted tone of voice, still avoiding your stares.
"So..." You take a deep breath, then let out  "Why you've been avoiding me these past days? Have I done something wrong?"
Law quickly replies, "I'm not avoiding you. Are you done?"
"Liar, you can't even look me in the eye!!"
Silence fulfills the room as Law puts his hands on his forehead, letting his head rests on them. You try to understand whatever is going on, a sentiment of heavy tension appears when you look at Law.
   Tension. Simply, tension.
Law , still with his head down, finally confesses "Y/N-ya...Yes, I've been avoiding you" He mumbles. "Do you really wanna know the reason?"
"Yes!! I'll try my best to help you with whatever is making you feel low!" You declare.
"I don't think you can help me, but... I can't control myself anymore when I'm by your side.Y/N-ya..." Law admits as he finally stares back at you, and this time, he's looking deeply into your eyes.
  You freeze.
"W-what? What do you mean by that?" You certainly think you misunderstood his words.
" I have feelings for you," Law confesses directly, leaving you no more doubts.
You try to keep your composure, but it looks like you are on fire, your whole body is steaming. You don't know what to do so you just stand still, staring at Law with a shocking glance.
"Y/N-ya...You don't have to return my feelings, I won't compel you to do anything about it." Law says, then he gets up from his chair, approaching you, so he adds "Look, it's just that it's hard for me to see you and couldn't be able to announce you're mine. I don't know when it started, maybe 3 months ago so you can just ignore it and I'll move on."
"Law..." you mumble, an immense desire to cry emerges, so when you least expect it, you are covered in tears.
Law looks surely worried about you, he attempts to approach you even more but you are moving away from him.
"Law..." You cover your eyes with your hands as you cry, "I-I think I feel the same but..." You sigh, "I'm afraid... I'm afraid of losing you! I can't go through that again."
You are crying a lot but you stop when Law abruptly hugs you.
"I'm not going anywhere, Y/N-ya." Law whispers.
Important people seem to always die in your life, you lost your parents when you were just 10, and then you lost Ace... This fear that haunts you has total control of your mind, but, somehow, the last few words that Law said to you comforted your troubled soul.
"Y/N-ya, take your time," Law says as he sweetly moves you away, now you both are no longer hugging, but staring deeply at each other. "I'll wait for you to make your decision, please rest...have a good night," Law says then opens the door for you
"Good night, Law..." You leave his office and go straight to your bedroom.
Two months have passed and surprisingly you didn't have any nightmare during its period. You felt so calm when Law hugged you and said he wouldn't go anywhere, since that day you've been wondering if you are capable of giving love a second chance. Besides, Law is still waiting for your decision but you can't just get through your trauma so easily; however, the time you took to think was enough for you to understand that you were worrying too much about an uncertain future. You thought a lot about it and figured it out that you have strong feelings for him, the idea of having him by your side is being more recurrent in your mind than the idea of losing him. You certainly want him, you want him so bad.
Since the day Law confessed to you, he is no longer avoiding you and everything is natural between you two. As he is respecting your time and not bringing the relationship matter back.
You have made your decision. Maybe...It's time for you to move on and tell Law what you want the most: him.
It's 2 am when you decide to go see Law and tell him your decision, you couldn't wait anymore longer. You go straight towards his bedroom to check if Law is still up and notice that the door is half-open so you slowly push it.
"Law...?" You mumble as you enter the bedroom. You don't see him anywhere. A few seconds have passed when suddenly Law appears right behind you.
"Y/N-ya?" Law says, he looks kind of surprised. You turn back to see, then you gradually make steps forwards "I'm sorry I was at the kitch-" You kiss his lips wildly, interrupting Law's words.
Still with his eyes open, Law can't believe what's going on. He stops you from kissing him, "H-hey....Y/N-ya w-what are you doing?" he stutters.
"Oh, I made my decision, Law." You confess "I realized that I want you much more than I fear losing you. It seems confusing but..." You look down, "I don't want to live the rest of my life wondering what my life would have been like with you.  I really want to live it." Law smiles.
You add "I don't care about the future anymore, we are in the present and I want you right now!"
"Y/N-ya, I want you so much, and hearing from you that you got over your fear really makes me glad..." Law kisses your forehead.
You look back at him, you both exchanging stares, "I want you, you want me so... please, make me yours, Law"
Law doesn't hesitate a second, he kisses your lips remarkably as he slowly shuts the door. Law puts you against the wall and starts kissing your neck and touching your right breast with his left hand. You let out a groan.
"Y/N-ya, you make me so..." Law whispers while he takes off your shirt then he kisses your neck again, leaving it marks.
"L-law??" you mutter as you are blushing, you just can't believe it, you want him right now.
He presses his body against yours while he also kisses your lips, you feel his hard manhood touching your thigh. Your whole body is on fire, he unhurriedly moves down his right hand until it reaches your cunt, Law dry rubs it using his index finger as you moan. You can't stand it anymore, the heat between your both bodies is driving you insane, plus his warm touches all over your trunk.
"Y/N-ya..." Law takes off his shirt and pants, revealing his ample chest with his tattoos, muscles and his bulky underwear, indicating his cock's hardness. Everything about him turns you on. "Take off your skirt and panties ", Law orders, his eyes: full of desire. You obey him, embarrassingly. Law watches every movement of you taking off your remaining clothes, hardening his cock even more.
Unawares, Law took off his underwear, showing his thick and lengthy dick. Your face turns flushed.
Law holds you by the waist, making you put your legs around his hips, he controls your waist back and forth bringing in your pussy to rub his cock's tip for some seconds. " Y/N-ya... I can't hold it anymore". He stops then lifts you in his arms, leading you to his bed.
He lays you on the bed, lying on all fours on top of you and so he starts to gently caress your face, hair,ear... Unexpectedly, you feel the tip of his manhood lightly touching your entrance, then, Law holds your hands, pushing your arms against the mattress. So he starts penetrating, "Fuck. It's so tight" Law exclaims. The impact sound of skin against skin is gradually increasing, Law is moving faster and faster, you can't help but moan, moan a lot.
"L-Law" you call out his name, "L-Law".
" I love you, Y/N-ya," Law says while he moves into you, you are so close to reaching your climax, and so do him, that in you head only Law and you exist, so your vision starts to blur;  you felt like fire was running through your veins instead of blood. "Law, I'm...almost..." you finally achieve your culmination.
"Y/N-ya" Law stutters your name as he releases his cum inside you. Law takes a deep breath then he lays down next to you and you both embrace each other.
Law kisses your forehead, "I'm not going anywhere, Y/N-ya. It's a promise." He whispers.
So you reply to him, "I know." and after a few cuddles you both fall asleep.

top 5 favorite male characters ?😏
Oh, damn it, Meli.. for making me do this.. how can I decide between them all? 😭🤧
You guys really don’t understand how difficult this was, I literally had to go through every arc to remember each character I’ve obsessed over in each one.
Small spoilers for thriller bark?.. and a little after Sabaody.
Tumblr media
5. Silvers Rayleigh
— come on, this man is a god. Out of all Greek gods, he’d be Zeus. On the real note, I really respect Rayleigh a lot, I think he’s absolutely amazing. Just the fact that he trained Luffy for almost two years, knowing Luffy’s potentional and believes that Luffy will succeed Gol Roger as Pirate King. It was a hard decision between him, Mihawk and Marco though.
4. White Horse Cavendish
— Cavendish deserves so much respect for what he did for Rebecca, standing up for her in the colosseum in Dressrosa. His alter ego(?) Hakuba is really freaking cool, scary, but cool. He went from despising Luffy to ultimately respecting him and I’m so in love with that, plus, he’s PRETTY.
3. 16th Division Commander Izo
— He’s beautiful. He is the most gorgeous man there is and I love him. Okay, but like, his loyalty to Whitebeard and his sophistication, elegance, EVERYRHING is just so admirable, I love it. Izo’s close with his fellow brothers, I love his relationships with them and the thought of him spending time and bonding with Whitebeard and his brothers make me soft.
2. Portgas D. Ace
— Ace is precious. Despite his younger personality when he first met Luffy, he’s really grown and I love him so much because how much he truly loves his brothers. That he’d do anything for them. I believe he often has such negative, dark and deep thoughts each night and has a fear of isolation and being forgotten, and it breaks my heart. This boy deserves so much.
1. Roronoa Zoro
— Zoro is a sexy beast and I am absolutely, ABSOLUTELY, all for his scenes in Wano. I really adore his precious laughs pre-TimeSkip and how playful he was back then, HE IS SO LOYAL to Luffy, despite him first saying that he doesn’t owe Luffy anything when they first met, but then he sacrifices himself for Luffy in freaking Thriller Bark and agh. And the fact that he’s the only one to have met both of Luffy’s brothers? I’m in love.
Tumblr media
oop, that was a long list. AH THIS WAS SO HARD THOUGH.

Ace-related SBS questions for my personal reference
D: Greetings, Odacchi sensei. Good afternoon(?). This is a question, but the marks on the hat Portgas D. Ace was wearing; do they mean:
☹: Was it okay for me to be born into this world?
☺: Meeting Pops, Luffy, and loving me so much, I'm glad I was born. Thanks.
...or something like that to indicate Ace's question and the "Answer" he found? No, it's gotta be that! When Ace said his quotes before dying, his expressions were the same as his hat. P.N. Nara's K(Kuuki) Y(Yomeru) (Can read atmosphere)
O: Hmm, I see. I've received quite a number of postcards on this one. Those "marks" and "the last expressions", hm. They are the same. I, also, was shocked when I had this pointed out at first. (Haha) What's funny is that much to coincidence, that happened to become true. Back then, when Ace made his first introduction, there was sort of an idea of what this dude's destiny would be inside me, but those marks were just plain old accessories, and so I never thought of a deep meaning. And the expressions of Ace when he was dying, well I just thought that would be relevant and drew those two panels next to each other. Realistically, the face of pain, burning, hurting, feeling bad, and not wanting to die. Still, the feeling of having no regrets. He probably tries to tell that is how he truly feels to Luffy. And that's what his smile is. When a person cradles a crying baby, he/she always smiles, right? Same as that. Because he wants the person to smile, he dies with a peaceful smile in the end, and I think that shows us his kindness. Thinking that, I drew those panels. Ah- the explanation got kinda long-. Well anyhow- it's amazing, how you all notice this stuff.
D: Right before Ace died, he couldn't speak very loudly, so he asked for his final words to be told to everyone, afterwards. Did Luffy ever end up passing on the message "Thank you for loving me" to everyone? P.N. Otohimememe
O: I see. He really did promise that, yeah. But as events unfolded, it doesn't seem like Luffy was able to meet with the Whitebeard Pirates' crew members. But, that's alright. Those crew members loved Ace and went to war as a result of that love, so not a single one of them would resent not directly receiving any words of thanks. At that time, Ace had a different wish. The thing that he made Luffy promise to "tell everyone afterwards" was what, exactly? To survive. So I think that those last few words that he managed to utter reached more people at that time than we could have ever imagined.
D: Good afternoon Odacchi-♪ In chapter 589, Luffy's clothes in the 4th box of page 4 says "Sobauchi", the 5th box of page 8 says "Asagao", the 3rd box of page 11 is "Kankyuki", and 4th box of the 12th page says "Tapioca", am I correct? My sister found it. P.N.springrain soup
O: Hm. One of them is wrong. About Luffy and Ace's tanktops, I received lots of point-outs, so let's just check the answers right here. First, Ace's tanktops. Then Luffy's. (Chap. 585~589.) *(Luffy's tanktops have puns in them that only Japanese people will understand, so there will just be the meanings listed.)

Well, something along those lines. One thing that I hate is that in Chapter 589, pg 10, box 3, I also can't read those words (haha) It says "?NO" but what animal was "?".. can't remember. Oh well. Anyway, the explanation is that I wanted to say that they do indeed change clothes, and so I twisted my brain a little right there. Well, SBS ends here! From pg 186, we have Voice Actor SBS!!

Firepixie, Ch. 1
In which the Spade Pirates get a new member by the name of Harry Potter
„Hey! You’re a pretty good cook! Want to join the Spade Pirates?”
Hariel Potter stares at the man-child hanging over the bar before her. He can’t be older than seventeen, and his smile reminds her of the sun. It’s infectious.
It hadbeen a while since her last adventure, and this island was slowly being taken over by the Marines. If the people had been opposed to it she’d have kicked them out, but the World Government’s enforcers had been welcomed and celebrated so far. Harry isn’t so sure it’ll last, but it’s none of her business. If the people are happy about the Marines’ dubious protection then she won’t interfere. But she certainly wouldn’t stick around to watch it, either.
While she can admit that there aregood Marines, and the ones that had arrived in recent days seem to be fine for the most part, Harry had long since figured out she wasn’t made to follow the World Government’s law.
So she looks at Portgas D. Ace and returns his sunshine grin. “Sure,” she says. “Why not? But fair warning… I attract trouble.”
Ace laughs. “Worth the food! This stuff is great!”
Harry grins. It’s rare to see someone enjoy her cooking this much. Hers is a rather small and hidden bar, her patrons mostly regulars. It’s rare that she gets new visitors, but apparently Ace has a good nose when it comes to finding food. “Well then,” she says. “Give me a few days to pack my stuff up and set everything in order. How long do I have until your log pose settles?”
“Three days.” The boy grins. “Hey, what’s your name?”
“Hariel,” she answers smiling for she can feel the sea and the adventure calling for her, and this time she’ll follow the call. “Just call me Harry.”
It was a year after the war, and the Ministry was holding a memorial ball at the newly rebuilt Hogwarts. It was among the last things Hariel ever wanted to do. Kreacher had passed away in his sleep a mere two days before, though, and she fully intended to have him be remembered as a hero of the war, no matter how much some people would like to forget the contribution of house elves. Hermione had been ever so touched when Harry had shown her the speech she had written.
So here she was, in her fine black dress robes that hugged her curves, black curls artfully arranged, receiving praise for her kindness and beauty, the endless efforts she put into rebuilding the Wizarding World. Already she had opened the dance with Kingsley, and danced with what felt like a hundred officials and diplomats. It was-
“Tiring, isn’t it?” Kingsley murmured as he walked up to her.
“At times,” she answered, inclining her head.
“Be careful,” he said quietly. “You’re giving more than you receive. Don’t burn yourself out. I’d hate to lose my best Auror.”
Being a pirate is fun. Harry stands on the ship’s figurehead, arms spread as if she’s about to fly away. Her hair whips about in the wind, completely untamed.
Ace is laughing at her, but from the happiness in his eyes, she can tell he understands.
They were building statues of her. One at Diagon Alley, one for the atrium of the Ministry, and another at Hogwarts. She absolutely hated it. It wasn’t like she’d won the war alone, but one would never know, listening to the way the witches and wizards talked.
“You have to look at their view,” Hermione tried to reason with her. “You’re the one who brought Voldemort down, fought him time and time again. You were the beacon of hope!”
Why couldn’t they be their own beacon? Shealways made her own light. Dumbledore gave her a path to follow, but the courage to actually walk it - that was all Harry’s own.
“I don’t need to be their beacon now,” she answered the woman who had been her best friend and confidante for so many years, but now had been swallowed up by business and politics and revolution so much she barely listened to what Hariel had to say anymore. Hermione was the brightest witch after all, and Hariel’s words tended to be tainted by ‘unrealistic idealism’.  As if Hermione’s own crusades weren’t, but thosewere of course different because they were Hermione’s.
“Harry,” Hermione said exasperatedly. “Do you even realise how much you can influence with just words, simply because they come from your mouth? You can accomplish so much. You can’t just ignore that, think of all the goodyou could do!”
“Think of all the good all of usalready did!” Hariel countered. “Why’s there statues of only me? Why not of you, why not of Ron, and Dumbledore, Dobby… why only me?”
“Oh Harry,” Hermione answered softly. “I’m sure if you just talked to Kingsley, they could change it?” She wasn’t getting it. It wasn’t the statues itself that were the problem. It was that they would be of Harry alone, made from gold, and the mere idea of it was what really got to Hariel. That she was remembered as the golden girl, that she was held to a standard that no one else was, and that she was all on her own on that high pedestal.
“It’s not Kingsley who decided this, it’s that stupid post-war morale committee or whatever they’re called,” Harry answered, not bothering to explain. Hermione was already distracted, looking at her watch.
“Look at the time!” she said. “I have a meeting, talk later? I can fit you in at lunch on Wednesday!”
“Sure,” Harry answered, a trace of sadness in her voice, but mostly it was filled with resignation. “I wouldn’t want to intrude on your busy schedule.”
The Spade Pirates are a loud and friendly bunch. Harry is the only female member, and it is like gaining a dozen older brothers. It amuses her since she’s definitely the oldest member. And definitely more mature than all of them put together.
“Clean your hands before lunch, whippersnappers!” she scolds, laughing at the crew’s antics. Wherever she goes on the ship, she gets snatched up in hugs or outrageous confessions of eternal love or just casual kisses on the forehead or cheeks. It’s wonderful and she’s never felt as warm and protected before.
“You talk like an old woman!” Benji, the first mate, laughs at her.
“Older than you!” She grins as she points her cooking spoon at him.
“How old can you possibly be?” Eagle-Eye Lyle the sniper asks incredulously. “You’re, like, a pint-sized fairy! Can’t be older than sixteen!”
“A lady never tells,” Harry says dramatically. “And your punishment for asking… Ace gets your dessert!”
“Nooo!” Lyle wails.
“YES!” Ace cheers.
Later, when the crew’s gone to sleep and she’s up in the crow’s nest on watch duty, he joins her.
“You’re not actually my age, are you?” he asks quietly.
“It’s not a problem, right?” Harry answers.
“Nah.” He laughs a little. “You’re nakama. You’re my cook. Why would your age matter?”
“Just checking.” She shrugs. “It’s just… I age differently from what I should. Sucks a bit, but I’ve sorted it out for the most part.”
“A sabbatical?” Ron asked incredulously. “You aren’t sick, are you?”
“What? No!” Harry denied instantly. “I just… need a break.”
“From what?” Ron was mystified. To him, Hariel appeared to lead the perfect life. He’d gotten over his jealousy issues, but he still lacked some understanding. He tried, though.
“Everything?” she asked wryly. “I’ve never taken a vacation in my life. I think at twenty I’m due one.”
“Well… okay?” he said dubiously. “You’ll come back, though, right?”
“Of course,” she answered. “Of course I will.”
“Marines, huh?” Hariel mused. The helmsman grunted. Buenaventure was large. Thrice as tall as her, twice as tall as Ace. He was a man of few words which was a shame, because he had the nicest voice, all warm and deep. “Should be interesting.”
“All right, crew!” Ace shouts. “Let’s kick some ass!”
They all laugh and cheer back.
The Marine ship’s cannons’ range is longer than their ships’, so they fire first. But the Spades don’t exactly need cannons when they have Fire Fist Ace, do they? The cannon balls don’t even come close. Until the Marines fire sea stone cannon balls, then his fire can’t do much.
Ah, but that’s what she’s there for, no? Her own fire, blue and golden, joins Ace’s. Then she vaults over the railing and changes into her animagus form. Fire races in her veins, her vision shifts to encompass so many more colours, so many things humans just don’t see. And she flies swiftly, and strikes true. The sea stone cannon goes up in flames, and the Devil’s Deck, the Spade Pirates’ ship, is protected.
After the battle, Ace holds his arm out and she lands on it, trilling a few notes. “Phoenix, huh?” he asks. She fluffs her feathers proudly before she hops off his arm and turns back.
“Yep,” she answers, just a little bit wary. “There’s a bit of a crazy story behind it, actually.”
“Isn’t there always!” Benji claps her on the shoulder. “Gonna tell us over some booze, or what?”
“Sure, why not,” she laughs.
Hariel didn’t travel that far, for the most part she stuck around Europe. Six months in she joined Charlie in Romania for Christmas. It was nice, she hadn’t seen him in a while. He didn’t come around England all that often anymore.
Life at the dragon reserve was good. Simple. No one looked twice at her, even knowing who she was. There was a guy there who offered to teach her the animagus transformation. An offer Harry gladly took.
“Of courseyou’d be a mythical creature,” Charlie snorted when she finally found out what her form was. He himself could already turn into a pitbull terrier.
“Oh shut up!” Harry laughed.
Four weeks later no one was laughing when, after a group of poachers and mercenaries attacked the reserve, she cried on the dying Charlie and healed his wounds just before a piercing hex found her heart and she went up in flames.
“Just up in flames?” Lyle asks incredulously, poking at her face. “Like our Ace?”
“Nah, not exactly. See, it’s this thing phoenixes do…”
“What the hell am I supposed to do with a baby?!” Charlie asked incredulously.
Harry stared up at him, sniffling and terrified out of her mind.
In the end, he brought her to his mother. Whose reaction to him bringing home a newborn child was nothing short of terrifying. When she found out the child was Harry... that was even more terrifying. Then came the mothering, and that wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
Phoenixes grow quickly during their rebirth cycles, and Hariel was no different. Within nine months, she’d grown to her eighteen year old body, and a few months later she was back to age twenty. In a way, it was nice to repeat her childhood in way that didn’t involve the Dursleys; Mrs. and Mr. Weasley were very kind to her, and so were all the Weasley siblings and her friends. On the other hand, it was inconvenient as hell, and she was aching from growing pains the entire time. Not to mention the constant clumsiness that came with being in a body that wouldn’t stop changing.
And then there were the security measures. Her magic became unstable, she could barely use it anymore. Madam Pomfrey finally told her that it was because she’d become a phoenix animagus. Her magic had been swallowed up by the mythical creature inside her, and only the most base magic tasks would still work for her. It spelled the end of her career in law enforcement.
“Hold on, you were a Marine?” Benji asks incredulously. She snorts.
“Not even close. Where I came from, law enforcement was very different.”
“Which island are you from, anyway?” Ace asks curiously. “Can’t be from the one where we picked you up Hey, I wanna go where they use magic!.”
“Ahhh…” Harry sighs. “Imagine the Grand Line. It’s made up from countless islands, right?”
The Spade Pirates nodded, unsure where she was going with this.
“Now imagine… what if the Grand Line itself was only an island in a bigger sea? What if there were more islands in that sea? Or imagine if every star you saw in the night sky was a different world. And you can’t reach them unless you know how to sail…” Harry’s voice trails off. “I’m from very far away, and I fell into the bigger sea and the Grand Line is where I ended up.” She shrugs. “We had these things called portkeys that allowed us to travel very quickly from one place to another. I happened upon a faulty one. I panicked, my phoenix abilities acted up - and here we are.”
“Apparition is so much more comfortable now,” Hariel told Hermione. “Like breathing.” She blinked, let the fire fill her, flames flashed - and she was standing on the other side of the room. “Pretty neat, huh?”
“Harry…” Hermione said, stricken. “I know you’re putting up a happy front - but you lost your magic! You know you can talk to me, yes?”
“Didn’t lose it, it just changed. I still have it.” Harry smiled. “I’m really okay. I feel - so much lighter now.” She twirled around herself. Her hair, no longer black but a rich orange-red that showed golden and blue highlights when the light hit it right, whipped around her as if it was fire itself. “I’ve never been better!”
Hermione burst into tears. “You died! Again! And now you’re - you’re not even a witch anymore, and it’s not fair! We need to fix this!”
Harry sighed quietly. Of all her friends, Hermione had taken it the worst.
“I’ve written to the Library of Alexandria,” Hermione said. “They say they have some books and scrolls on mythical animagi. At least - at least think about going? I can arrange a portkey for you.”
Knowing Hermione, the portkey was already arranged. Well, if it made her happy… and a trip to Wizarding Egypt sounded nice. The Library of Alexandria was said to be the greatest in the world, too, and not being an Auror anymore, Hariel had more than enough time to research her new abilities. “Okay,” she said. “It sounds nice.”
But two days later, when she touched the portkey and the magic of it hooked behind her navel, she knew instantly that something was wrong. It didn’t hook just behind her navel but everywhere under her skin, and it tore in all different directions. There was no whirl of colour, no spinning, just the awful ripping inside and outside of her, but she couldn’t let go of the portkey, couldn’t move, and it hurt. So she tried to turn to flame and get away that way.
It was a mistake.
She had no idea how long she drifted through the in-between of the worlds. She knew she died, ripped apart the first time, and then pressed and twisted through time and space the following ones. There were no adequate words to describe the ways she died. She wasn’t aware most of the time, thankfully.
But eventually it stopped, and she fell into water. There was nothing around but water, though her newborn body’s eyes were weak so she couldn’t see far anyway. But she felt something under her, deep below in the see. Something enormous and old.
Not long later, an enormous sea snake towered over her, mean eyes staring hungrily upon Harry’s weak and helpless form.
~Help me,~ she hissed.
“To sum it up,” Harry says upon seeing the teary eyes of her crewmates. “The sea king brought me to the nearest island where a kind family found and raised me. Seeing as this isthe Grand Line, they didn’t really bat an eyelash at how quickly I grew, especially when I explained it later. Once I was fully grown again, I went and travelled a bit until I had my next… accident.” She rolls her eyes. “This dying and de-aging thing got old really fast. Anyway, I sailed for a bit, got a feel for this world… opened a bar… and then you came along.”
“…explains how you aged like ten years in two months when you joined,” Lyle finally says.
Harry kicks his shin. “Five years in four months, you arse! I’m only twenty-one! I think.”
“Oww! Captain, Harry’s being a mean old lady!”
“Why you!”
The crew laughs on as Harry attempts to tackle Lyle to the floor.
“What’s this?” Ace asks curiously, poking the cake with his fork.
“Treacle tart!” Harry answers enthusiastically. “I finally got it right! It’s the best cake in the world! My favourite!” She nearly succeeds in stealing a piece from Ace’s plate.
“Mine!” he says, catching her wrist - Merlin damn it, he would’ve made one fine Seeker with reflexes like that - and pulling her over. She ends up in his lap, restrained by his arms.
“Not fair!” she whines. “It’s my favourite!”
“Mmm.” He chews noisily. “It’s pretty good.”
“Pretty good!” she gasps in outrage. “Pretty good! It’s the bestest cake in the world! And it’s wasted on you!” She struggles against his iron grip while he chuckles. No use. Ace is freakishly strong. “Aaaace!” she whines, and aims puppy eyes up at him. “Pleeeeaaase? One tiny bite?”
The arse is laughing at her! Oh, she might be nice most of the time, but when it comes to treacle tart, it’s on. One moment, Ace is holding a rather pretty young woman, the next he’s attempting to fend off a fully sized phoenix from hell who’s trying for his food. “Argh! Goddammit Harry stop that! Ouch! Oww! No, my food!”
Harry chatters angrily and sets herself on fire. So does Ace.
…the room is in shambles by the time the cake is gone. Harry is entirely unrepentant, at least she got her cake.
Benji makes them scrub the deck as punishment.
Ace is shell-shocked. It was - she had warned him, Harry had, but to see it - God, Buenaventure would’ve been dead if not for her, but now she-
The tiny little phoenix chick cheeps at him pathetically. Its eyes are exactly Harry’s colour, but the fuzzy plumage is a soft ash grey, quite unlike the glorious golden, red, and blue feathers her fully grown phoenix form sports.
“Okay,” he finally says. “So what do baby phoenixes eat?”
Harry’s yet unable to turn back, she only got killed two weeks ago. She is, however, well capable of making her displeasure known.
She’s quite displeased. She flaps her completely useless fuzzy wings angrily and chatters at the Wanted Poster Ace is holding up before her with his arseholish grin on his stupid freckled face.
The chick. Pet of the Spade Pirates. ฿5.
The chick.
The. C h i c k.
Five. Beli.
Outrageous! How dare they!
And how dare Ace laugh at her. She attempts to peck his fingers. Doesn’t work. “At least it’s a cute picture?” he asks, still laughing.
The picture is the worst! It’s disgustingly adorable! Taken a week ago, her tiny phoenix chick form sitting on Ace’s hair as if it was a nest.
Mark her words, she will poop on him the next time she sits there.
In a rather obvious attempt to mollify her, Ace pulls out another poster. Wanted: The Firepixie. ฿30,000,000.
Fire. Pixie.
Harry squawks indignantly. It’s not her fault everyone on the Grand Line is a freaking giant! She’s perfectly above average in height! Oh, just wait until she’s grown again - heads will roll for this! Firepixie, her bloody arse!
“Where’re we going?” Harry whines, pulling on Ace’s hair. She’s riding on his shoulders. It’s about all tall people are good for. Harry’s decided she really hates tall people. She’s now physically about three years old, it’s been almost six weeks since her latest incident. She ages about a year within two weeks, faster when she’s in her phoenix form; meaning she’ll be at her actual age of twenty-one in less than a year. But at least she’ll be useful again when she hits her teens in (hopefully) around three months, and everyone will just go back to not being an overprotective cooing dunderhead. Merlin’s balls, she can’t go anywhere.
And then there are the jokes. Tall people are the worst.
Also, she’s pretty sure someone has started a photo album of baby pictures. So far no one’s dressed her up yet, but it will happen; it happened with Mrs. Weasley, Ginny, Hermione, and about every other female friend she had. She’s apparently cute as fuck even when she cries - a rarity in this world - not that she does that a lot but being a child has her head all frazzled and what was she talking about again? Whatever.
“Are we gonna be there soon?” she continues to whine. Some good has to come out of her plight, and if everyone gets to make jokes about her situation, then she gets to be a rotten brat. Justice must be served to the tall people.
“Yes, Harry,” Ace says. “Stop pulling my hair!”
She pulls his hair. “No. How long till we’re there?”
“How can she even do that? He’s fire! His hair is fire!” Lyle complains.
“’s cold!” Harry continues complaining.
“You’re a bloody phoenix! You can’t be cold!” Lyle yells. He’s the easiest to annoy.
Ace sets his hair on fire. “Better?” he asks. Harry snuggles into the flames. Mmm, nice!
“Yup! Are we there yet?”
“We’re here,” Buenaventure interrupts with his deep voice.
“Finally,” Lyle groans.
“It’s a cave,” Harry mutters. “You brought me all this way so we could see a cave?”
Right then, a man comes stomping out of the cave. “You! What do you want!” he yells at them.
“Food and booze!” Harry shouts back.
“Oh my God, shut up Harry!” Lyle hisses at her and attempts to pry her off of Ace. She clings to his head like a limpet.
“Ignore the brat,” Ace says. “I want to meet Red-Hair Shanks!”
“And food and booze!” Harry shouts.
“Haha, a girl after my own heart!” Another guy comes out of the cave. He’s only got one arm, a scar across his eye, and some really nice red hair. Almost as nice as Harry’s own!
“Don’t give the kid booze, captain!” the first guy shouts.
“Not a kid!” Harry shouts. “Just got de-aged, arsehole!”
“Grand Line shenanigans?” the captain asks sympathetically. Harry nods. “That sucks.” He turns to Ace. “So you wanted to meet me?”
"Yeah." Ace grins his sunshine grin. "I wanted to meet the guy who saved my little brother's life and thank him." He gives a bow that nearly throws Harry off his shoulders. "Thank you for saving Luffy!"
"Eh, you know Luffy?" The captain looks confused for a moment before a grin also splits his face. "Guys! This is Luffy's brother! This calls for celebration!"
"Food and booze!" Harry cheers.
...no one gives her booze in the end, but the party is still fun as hell.
Harry makes it to age thirteen - takes her around nine months in total - before the next incident.
"Harry," Ace says seriously while she cheeps helplessly, once again locked in baby phoenix form. "You need to stop doing that."
She sneezes up a lick of flame. The crew goes aww.
"But seriously, that shouldn't have killed you," Doc, the Spade’s doctor, says while frowning.
Well, it's not my damn fault everyone here is so bloody sturdy! Harry tries her hand - or rather her beak - at bird speak. Normal people die from being launched head-first through seven walls, you asshats!
"Aww, she's so cute like that!" Lyle coos, and attempts to swipe her from Ace's hands.
"Nope, mine!" their captain says, grinning.
Thricely cursed fucknuggets! Filthy maggot brains! May a stampede of pregnant hippogriffs run you over while a dragon pisses on you! Harry chirps indignantly, flapping her tiny, fluffy wings. I tickle your catastrophe!
"I'll get the camera," Benji snickers. "Hey, Buenaventure, didn't you knit her a Spade Pirates sweater?"
I will peck the eyes from your lifeless corpses while they rot in the sun!
"Aww look, Harry's happy!"
Harry chirps pathetically and aims puppy eyes up at Ace. He's too busy laughing at her to notice.
She resolves to burn that camera and the photos it already took.
Ace is sitting at his desk and going over the newest bounties. His has doubled, again. Buenaventure's has grown by twenty million. Everyone else's is still the same.
There's a knock on Ace's door, then it opens and Harry - now four years old, enters, blanked clutched in one hand and enormous owl plushie in the other. "I'm thleeping here," she announces.
Four year-old Harry is the best. She has a lisp.
"Bad dream?" Ace asks. She looks away and climbs up on his bed where she curls up, still clutching her plushie. Ace had gotten it for her, mainly to annoy her because brat-Harry's tantrums are hilarious, but she'd fallen in love with the thing immediately and henceforth refused to part with it, which was even more hilarious.
"Just a bit homethick," she mumbles. "Mith my old friends."
Ace leaves the bounties on his desk and sits down next to her. She's hidden her face in the stuffed owl. It'd be cute if it didn't mean her being sad.
He isn't quite sure what the hell to do with a sad kid, though.
"Hug," she orders, turning her head to glare at him.
Ace snorts and boops her on the nose. "Respect, brat."
"Shut up, you tall arse." There's a tiny grin on her face now, though her eyes are still infinitely sad. "Now hug!"
"All right, all right." Anything to make that look go away. "Brat."
"Stupid tall prat." She snuggles into him. "I love you, you know?"
Ace stills. It's - she just said it like that, and he's not - she doesn't mean it, can't meant it, she doesn't know the truth about him - but even if she did, she's not from here, has no idea of Gol D. Roger and what the rotten blood in Ace's veins means.
He could tell her, he thinks. He could tell all of the crew, they’re his family as much as Luffy is, though in a different way. They have a right to know.
And Harry would understand. When she’s in the right mood, she tells them stories from her home. She knows what it’s like, to have her fate decided for her, knows what it’s like to be hunted for simply existing. It’s not the exact same situation as his, but similar enough.
“Say it back,” she orders like the brat she is.
He chuckles. “You’re such a brat.”
She pinches him. “Say it, Ace!”
“Oww!” He’s a Logia, how does she keep doing that?! “It’s on, brat!”
She shrieks as he begins to tickle her. It turns into a small-scale war.
“I was holding back,” he insists later.
Harry tightens the headlock she has him in.
She’s four! How?! This is the same girl that dies from being thrown into walls. He’s pretty sure she could win against Garp in arm wrestling!
“Say. It!” she yells. “Or I’ll eat all the cake!”
“Fine!” He grumbles the words so fast they are unintelligible. “There. I said it!”
“Nope, you gibbered it!”
“That’s not even a word! Gah!” Harry’s cut off his air. “I’m your captain, dammit! Don’t kill me! Hrrrrgh... fine, love you!” He feels his masculinity die a swift and brutal death.
Harry lets go of him and pats his head. “There! Not tho difficult, right?”
Ace glares at her.
…he’ll wait until she’s asleep. Then tie her up and use her as sea king bait.
The pipe feels awkward in her hands. "Seriously?" she asks, and then curses herself for using a word with so many 's' in it because her physical age is four and this means she has a lisp.
Sure enough, Ace is grinning. Tall people suck.
“Can’t handle a little weapon, Firepixie?” he asks.
“Little?” she asks incredulously. “This thing is as tall as me! And since when are pipes weapons?”
Since forever, apparently.
“Why do I have to do this?” Harry whines two hours into training, and stomps her foot.
“So you don’t get thrown into any more walls,” Lyle points out reasonably, damn him. “You’re cute as fuck, but we’d like a cook that actually cooks instead of kidnapping one of us and yelling at him to do stuff in the kitchen because she’s too short to reach the cupboards.”
“I’m not cute!” she shouts. “Or short!”
Lyle grins unrepentantly. “Sure thing, Firepixie.”
“I will murder you.”
“Use your pipe when you do it,” Ace pipes up. “Remember, a secure grip is everything, and don’t just use your arms, use your whole body when you swing!”
Harry points at him. “And you are next.”
“I’m so scared.”
“Rawwwrrrr!”
Harry goes up in flames.
Lyle shrieks like the little girl Harry is supposed to be and runs.
Ace clears his throat. “We have assembled today to celebrate a most special birthday.” He raises his glass. “To Harry finally making it to adulthood!”
“Hear, hear!” the crew shouts.
Harry sniffs. “You guys are so sweet! You even got me cake!” Store-bought, making a cake without the cook’s help failed epically and they’re very lucky Harry was shopping for clothes with Doc while the kitchen exploded.
“Well obviously you’re going to share with us,” Benji says reasonably. “It’s not like a shorty like you can put away that much cake.”
Harry throws her fork at him. “I’m taller than average!” she shouts. “You just watch, I’m gonna eat it all alone!”
Harry is most certainly not taller than average. Even at the physical age of eighteen, she’s nowhere near as tall as the average Grand Line human woman. Makino would even be taller than her, and everyone used to comment on how small and dainty she was. Firepixie describes Harry pretty well, no matter her protests.
Ace grins and grabs himself a handful of cake while she’s distracted yelling at the others.
He bloody loves his crew.

CHAPTER 1 | X | CHAPTER 3
FFN: Lust For Life
Arina was sitting on a small bench in crow's nest at the last mast on Moby Dick. She had her legs against her chest and head tilted to the side. Quiet hums were heard coming from her when she heard someone whistling. She quieted down and listened to it getting louder and closer.
"Hey, Thatch, doctor said not to stretch yourself!"
Arina almost jumped when Thatch was so close.
"I can't lay in bed anymore! I need air!" Thatch opposed and opened the doors into the nest. "And don't worry, I'll be back in infirmary before night." He laughed and closed the doors, his eyes focusing on Arina. "Yo," He grinned.
Her dark eyes narrowed and Thatch frowned. "Two days passed, Thatch. And doctor didn't even let you leave the infirmary."
"But Ari-chan, it's so boring laying there and listening to nurses. Do you have any idea how boring it is when no one visits you?" He faked hurt and placed a hand over his chest. Arina raised an eyebrow before she began chuckling. Thatch smiled widely and walked to her side to sit down. "Here…" He murmured as he reached under his shirt and brought out an apple. "I couldn't bring more from the kitchen or they'd know something's up."
"They already do, since you're not in infirmary." She shook with head and leaned chin on top of her knees. "On top of that, I know how it's like to be in hospital to no one visiting you." Taking the apple, she watched its redness, losing herself in thoughts.
Thatch frowned. "You were in hospital?" he asked and looked over her arms for anything, but found nothing. There were few bruises on her wrists, but they were almost invisible. "W-why?"
"Some health problems, but I'm okay now." Arina smiled and took a bite. "Man this is sweet." She murmured, her eyes sparkling and Thatch laughed. "I never thought food would be so damn good in this world…" she added under her breath.
"Huh?" The Commander looked at her.
"Nothing." She shook with head. "How are you though?" She turned to him. "I heard doctor saying you should be in bed for a week, two if you manage to somehow slip through their fingers."
Thatch snorted and crossed his arms. "Like that wound could kill me."
"It could have." She didn't back down and Thatch startled at seriousness that he heard in her voice. "What if you died? What do you think would happen?"
Thatch remained quiet for a moment, his thoughts on the crew, wondering what could happen. "I…" He began, but he didn't know what to say. "They'd be pissed." He murmured and narrowed his eyebrows.
Arina watched him before she took another bite of apple. She heard distant voices of nurses running on the deck and few members calling for Thatch. "They're searching for you." She said instead and stood on her feet. Taking slow steps to the windows, she looked down, seeing Marco looking around. His expression was troubled as he looked to Vista and Namur, telling them something.
"Hey, Ari-chan," Thatch walked to her side. Arina looked at him. "Come to the dining hall tomorrow evening. I'll make you something." He smiled.
"I'm fine, Thatch." She returned the smile. "I'll sneak some fruit if I find some. You better take care of your health and then we'll talk about food."
Thatch sighed, massaging his temples. "Seriously, get some food. Or I'll ask Marco to bring me for two people—"
"I doubt doctor will allow."
"Do you have to be so pessimistic?" He put hands on his waist and glared at Arina. "Why are you even hiding from them either way?" he murmured.
"Because they think I stabbed you." Was her simple reply.
"They—why do I bother?" Thatch raised his arms and sighed. "This is getting ridiculous. I told them it was Teach and they're still…" Arina laughed. "Don't laugh, young lady. You're also partly to blame." He pointed at her. Raising an eyebrow, Arina slowly ate the apple. "You could have approached Marco and tell him the truth. Sure he might take you to Pops before, but he'd listen …"
Arina's eyebrow rose higher.
Thatch parted his lips to say more, but stopped. He sighed, having a hunch she could be even more stubborn than Ace. Despite knowing her for two days, she managed to get under his skin. If he was asked how, he wouldn't be sure how to answer. The moment he saw her in infirmary with blood on her clothes, looking ever so tired and defeated, and Stefan following behind, he remembered someone whispering soft words in his ear when he was barely conscious, lying on the floor in his room. And for some reason, he was calm. Her presence and words made him feel safe.
"... hide for a while more." Arina's voice brought Thatch from his thoughts.
Shaking with head, Thatch looked at her. "I'm honestly surprised you weren't found yet." he chuckled and scratched the side of his cheek. "If that's what you wish, I won't change your thoughts." He smiled when he saw her shoulders relax. "But I want you to come every evening, every day, to the dining hall and I'll give you food." He said and quickly added: "No arguing and you can sleep in my room."
Arina pursued her lips into thin line before she let out a sigh. "Sometimes I wonder who's more stubborn…"
"What was that?" Thatch smiled softly.
"Nothing!" She chirped and looked away with cheeks dark as Thatch burst into fits of laughter, but held for his side, pain spreading.
"For the love of!" He cursed, moaning in pain.
Arina chuckled and shook with head. "Go back to infirmary before nurses behead me."
"I hope you have a good reason for being in kitchen, Thatch."
Thatch almost jumped in the air when he heard deep voice from behind. His eyes were wide as he turned around only to find his captain standing not too far from him. He felt his heart pace up, colour drain from his face and feel very tempted to run. Never in his life had he imagined that one day he would hide even from Whitebeard.
"N-n-n-nothing!" He claimed and tsk-ed with tongue, realizing he just made a mistake. "I mean-I mean, I'm m-making lunch. Yeah! I'm making l-lunch, why? Shouldn't I?"
Whitebeard raised an eyebrow. "Thatch," The chef felt a chill run down his spine at the tone. "It's night. And as far as I know, you trust your cooks enough to let them handle food the whole ship."
Thatch's chest tightened. He could see pain flash in Whitebeard's eyes. He wasn't even sure why he lied. It was the first thing that came to his mind. Just as he parted his lips, he felt another presence. And he wasn't the only one. Whitebeard's eyes widened and he turned to the side only to see a young woman standing beside. His blood ran cold when he met with eyes dark and almost emotionless. There was sadness in them, but also understanding.
"It's you." Whitebeard murmured and looked at Thatch, who spoke: "Ari-chan what are you doing here? Didn't you say you'll come later?"
Arina glanced at Whitebeard before she smiled. "I'm hungry." Was her simple reply.
Whitebeard was confused. "Aren't you the one, who found Thatch?" he asked.
Humming, Arina shrugged. Thatch shot her a glare and she rolled with eyes. "You're being dramatic, Thatch. I respect Whitebeard and I wouldn't do anything to endanger you or anyone on this ship." She turned to Whitebeard and smiled softly. "I found Thatch."
"How? How come no one can find you?"
Arina looked to the side, wondering how she should explain. "I don't want to be found yet. It's a bit amusing though." she chuckled, completely ignoring the first question. "It's funny how Marco twitches at every unusual sound." There was amusement in her gaze that made Thatch snort, but groan in pain.
Whitebeard raised an eyebrow once more. He wanted to say something, but Arina's head snapped to doors, with voices growing louder, her expression unreadable. Before any of them could say a word, less alone make a move, Arina was gone from their sights and tired Marco was on the doorway with angry nurse and doctor on his back. He frowned when he saw Thatch by the counter with pan in his hand and Whitebeard looking ever so confused.
"Commander Thatch!" Doctor called. "I know you miss cooking, but for the love All Blue would it kill you to stay in bed for one whole day?" He hissed and stomped over to Whitebeard's side.
"Yes." He answered ever so seriously that made the doctor blink few times, open and close his mouth, and compose himself to realize what just happened. Whitebeard sweatdropped while Marco let out a sigh. He should have expected this.
"It's okay," Whitebeard spoke.
"It's not okay!" Doctor moaned in frustration. "He barely laid in bed for one whole day. It's only third day but for goodness sake he's cooking! Every hour we have to change his bandages, if we managed to find him, because his wounds open from climbing up to crow's nest and now cooking and straining his arms and hands." He turned to the chef. "That's it, I've decided." He pointed at him. "We're tying you to bed and keeping an eye on you for one week!"
"What!?" Thatch's eyes widened. "You can't do that!" he opposed and looked at Whitebeard. "Pops!" He pleaded with eyes.
"Speaking of which," Doctor's eyes glinted and he turned to the captain. Whitebeard nervously smiled. "We're confiscating all sake on this ship until further notice. No one, and I mean no one, is allowed to drink for next three days."
"Now that's just ridiculous." Thatch huffed and crossed his arms.
"Couldn't agree more…" Marco murmured under his breath, but narrowed his eyebrows when he saw nurse looking his way with eyebrow raised. "I didn't say or knew anything." he raised his arms in defeat before she could respond with a remark that could make his work double.
Marco felt troubled. He knew Thatch was hiding something, but he couldn't point out exactly what. The chef spent hours in the kitchen long after dinner, laughed and joked. Every time he went into dining hall, he almost stopped in front of doors, turned around and walked away. There was something that prevented him from going in if he wasn't focused on it.
It didn't help that pirates began talking of a woman appearing in the middle of the night and sneaking around the ship. Marco in the beginning thought it was just another prank of Ace and Thatch, but he soon found it was quite real.
"Namur?" Marco looked at the fishman, who stood between doors that led into dining hall.
With a startle, Namur looked at First Commander. "Marco…" He called, but quickly looked back in front, hearing ruckus.
Marco narrowed his eyebrows and walked to his side. "What's going on?" he asked and frowned seeing opened fridge, but no one in sight. "What the…" he murmured and walked inside, ignoring Namur's call. Marco looked around, trying to see the intruder, but he couldn't see anyone except maroon coloured hair. He took a step forward, head moving until dark eyes stared into his.
Just one blink and she was gone.
"What the hell?" Namur stopped by Marco's side. "I didn't think ghost stories were real."
"Neither have I." Marco admitted and suppressed a chill that threatened to run down his spine. "It's New World after all…" he added and looked around one more time. There were sounds of shuffling before he heard a bark and growling that made both Marco and Namur turn around.
Stefan stood on the doorway, growling at them, ready to attack.
"Stefan?" Marco called in confusion. "It's okay," He raised his hands and Stefan quieted down. It passed a moment until Stefan was standing still and staring at each of their movement with his dark eyes.
"Since when did he turn aggressive?" Namur spoke and took a careful step forward.
Stefan's eyes were immediately on him.
"I don't know." Marco admitted. "It's not like him."
"Ever since Thatch got stabbed, he changed." Namur said.
So I'm not the only one who has seen the change. Marco thought and left the dining hall with Namur by his side and Stefan on their backs. The First Commander felt odd being followed by their dog and watched on for every tiny move they were making. He had no idea what the reason was, but he was tempted to find out.
Walking towards infirmary has never felt so long and so unsatisfying. A frown was seen on Marco's face when he came to a stop in front of doors where Ace stood. The young man had a troubled expression on.
"Ace?" Marco called, waking the latter from his thoughts. "What's wrong?" he asked and stopped by his side.
Ace turned to him, his expression turning into confusion. "I…I don't know what I wanted—where I wanted to go."
Marco narrowed his eyebrows. "You're in front of infirmary. Thatch?"
"Oh…" Ace blinked, his expression now free of any emotions. "Right. I wanted to check on Thatch." He laughed and opened the doors. "Thatch!" His grin was wide and Marco smiled, shaking with head as he walked inside. He immediately felt another presence in the room, but it wasn't of the nurses or doctor. Someone else was in the room.
Seeing the focus wasn't on any of them, Thatch spoke up: "I'm finally getting discharged tomorrow!" a wide smile stretched over his lips.
"You've only been here less than a week." Ace frowned.
"Excuse me, but I've been here for far too long." Thatch responded with a huff.
"Did you talk with the doctor?" Marco raised an eyebrow.
"Of course. He agreed."
Ace and Marco looked at each other. It was highly unlikely for doctor to agree on anything absurd when it came to Thatch.
"I'm serious!" Thatch claimed. "It's almost been two weeks of lying here. I'm sore and tired of bed. I need to cook. I want to cook. Come on, can't you or Pops talk with the doctor?" He turned to Marco.
"If you tell me a good reason, I just might." Marco crossed his arms, daring Thatch with a half smirk.
Thatch flinched and huffed, murmuring under his breath. There was a chuckle and all three of them froze. A curse followed and no sooner did Thatch end up coughing loud. Marco looked around, the presence slowly disappearing if he didn't focus on it. He walked towards closet that was on the other side of the room and reached for the handle when doors opened, revealing a doctor.
Thatch let out a silent sigh, gulping in nervousness. It was too close.
"Oh right." Ace seemed to remember. "I passed your room yesterday and were you by any chance inside?"
It felt like time stopped as doctor shot a glare to Thatch, letting him know to choose his next words very carefully.
"I…" Thatch began and looked everywhere around. It was painfully obvious he was trying to come up with an excuse. "I…I did-didn't, but I as-asked Izo to get—to get me some-something…" He stammered out, smiling nervously.
"Did you now?" Marco raised an eyebrow and crossed his arms.
"Wasn't Izo on a mission?" Ace looked ever so confused.
"The last time I checked he was." Marco agreed and watched Thatch's expression that turned paler with smile slowly disappearing from his lips. "Thatch, what's going on?" he asked with a sigh. "You're acting strange; Stefan is acting strange. He's much more aggressive than he ever was towards anyone. And I keep hearing laughter and a female voice and everyone saying they saw a woman on a ship. A ghost."
Thatch laughed and looked away. "Ahaha it's one of my pranks again. I admit." He looked anywhere than at Marco. "I'll stop, don't—don't worry." He turned their way. "I just…I just need to get out of this bed and room. It's killing me!"
Marco turned to doctor, who watched and listened before he let out a sigh. "Fine, alright." He stepped towards bed. "You can leave infirmary, but if I see you stretching and your bandages end up stained again, you're coming back."
"Thank you!" Thatch grinned. "I'll be careful!"
"And Thatch," he called for the Commander. "You're coming back here to change the bandages every evening after dinner. No arguing."
Thatch nodded as he slowly, but with much more excitement, sat up. "God it's such a damn good feeling leaving this room. I felt like dying." He laughed, slightly wincing at the pain, but quickly brushing it aside. "Can't wait to cook again. All these recipes I got are perfect!"
"You have new recipes?" Ace perked up in excitement.
"Of course!" Thatch grinned and held Ace around his neck, leaning on him. "They already look promising and let me tell you," he put his free hand on Ace's chest. "You're all gonna love each and every one of them. I'll make sure of it."
"For the last time and for the love of Pops, no, there is no ghost and yes, there is a teen on this ship." Thatch felt his eyebrow twitch. "Why do you guys even think she's a ghost? I see her every day." He frowned as Whitebeard laughed at expressions of his sons.
"You see her everyday?" Ace asked.
"Yeah," The chef nodded and rubbed his sides, feeling a slight ache. "She always comes to kitchen late at night to eat." He said like it was most normal thing. "And why do you want to see her? I told you Teach was the one that stabbed me and there you went and accused Arina." He crossed his arms, huffing like an overprotective mother.
"And then you call me mother hen…" Marco murmured under his breath before he perked up after hearing a chuckle.
Everyone else seemed to hear it as well as they started looking around and asking if they were the ones laughing, but Thatch only grinned and spun around, like he knew who that was. Whitebeard also relaxed more, which the Commanders saw and felt, and looked around the deck. Yet no matter how much they looked, they couldn't see anyone, who looked like the teen.
"You have nothing to apologize for." A female voice spoke, making everyone widen their eyes except Thatch and Whitebeard. The chef's grin only widened if it were possible. "I understand you had mixed feelings, over who stabbed your chef. Which was also the reason why I was hiding. You might have attacked me even if I told you that it wasn't me." She said.
"Oh, come on Ari-chan," Thatch looked up, Marco and Whitebeard following his gaze. Marco's eyes widened when they saw a maroon haired teen sitting on a mast, wearing a shirt that was tied right under her chest, showing her toned stomach, and shorts, but no shoes. One by one, everyone raised their heads and stared at the teen, who was wiggling her legs backwards and forwards. Her hair was tied in a messy bun.
"Yaho," She waved her hand, her smile wide. "Sorry for hiding from you, but I thought I would rather stay in shadows until you guys calm down." She shortly explained and added. "Had no idea that it would end over two weeks, but for you to actually still look around to find me. Before I knew it I was going along with your game." She grinned.
"Who are you?" One of the pirates asked.
"Frye Arina," She answered. "And before you ask if I ate any Devil Fruit or have any magical power, less alone haki, my answer is no. I am nothing but a normal civilian that shouldn't even be here." She said.
"How did you get on the ship?" Marco asked and glanced at Stefan, who was sitting right under the teen, watching the pirates' every move.
"You see, that's where I get lost." Arina hummed and looked at Whitebeard, who rose an eyebrow. "Well it isn't like I have anything against you guys as you're basically my favourite pirate crew, aside from Straw Hats of course." Ace raised an eyebrow. "Firecracker," she grinned.
Ace's eyes widened when he realized it was meant for him. "I'm not firecracker. Get down here." He yelled, pointing at her.
Thatch was laughing and wincing at the same time. Arina chuckled from above before she held for each side and slid down, jumping swiftly and ever so quietly on the deck, making everyone's eyes wide.
Marco narrowed his eyebrows at the elegance. "How come we weren't able to find you?" He asked a question everyone has been wondering.
Arina shrugged. "No idea," She admitted. "I just didn't want to be found." She said and continued. "So I continued to sneak around and hide in places where I thought and knew you wouldn't be able to find me. Thatch and Stefan helped me." She said and squatted down when the said dog approached her.
Everyone quietly gaped at her. She was familiar with Stefan even more than with Whitebeard himself. It confused them.
"You sure gave a scare to my sons and daughters on the ship." Whitebeard spoke, making Arina look up at him and smile.
"It wasn't my intention. I just wanted to be safe and survive." She said and looked back at Stefan, who was now lying on the ground, his tail wiggling around as she scratched his stomach. "Who's a good boy?" She asked and grinned when he barked. "That's right. You're a good boy…"
The pirates stared at her horrified.
"Oh right…" Ace seemed to remember. "You said something about Sabo that night. What did you mean by that?" He asked and he could see Arina flinch.
Arina patted Stefan before she straightened up and looked at Ace. She bit her lower lip, wondering if she should tell him or not. "He's alive." She said, her expression soft, with no sign of mocking.
"What?" He murmured. "He isn't alive…" Ace shook with head. "Sabo's dead…" he said, not believing a word that left his lips, less alone the words that left hers. Others looked confused as they had no idea who Sabo was.
"Sabo is alive." She repeated. "He lost his memories, which is why he doesn't remember you or Luffy." She said without avoiding her gaze. "He's with Revolutionary army."
"Sabo isn't alive!" Ace yelled, his hands in fist, his gaze turning into a glare. "He was on the ship when it exploded by that bastard." He gritted his teeth, remembering Dogra telling him the news like it was yesterday. "He was killed by the damned Tenryūbito ten years ago when he tried to escape."
No one knew what to say. All wore one and same expression. Surprise and shock that turned into anger.
Arina quietly stared at Ace before she let out a quiet sigh. "I'm sorry." She lowered her head. "It was rude of me to talk of Sabo."
"It was." Ace gritted his teeth, his knuckles turning whiter.
His breathing was uneven and she bit her lower lip. I should have waited. I messed it up. "I should leave." She said.
"Won't you eat anything?" Thatch frowned.
"You know I always eat later." She answered with a smile and turned to Whitebeard. "Thank you for your hospitality. I'll be sure to return it." She lowered her head and before anyone could say or do anything, she climbed back up the mast and disappeared along with her presence.
"There she goes again…" Thatch murmured and shook with head.
"Will she come back?" Izo looked at him.
"She's always around." The chef answered, startling everyone. "She's only hiding, nothing else. She might come around more frequently now that she knows no one will attack her, but who knows." He shrugged. "Even I have no idea what's going on in her head…" he said.
"Since she managed to sneak on our boat, did she tell you from where she is?" Marco spoke up as he kept his attention in the way she disappeared to.
Thatch tapped his chin. "Not really…" he answered. "Then again we didn't talk about that when she came to eat. She was more keen on listening than talking. How much she spoke before is actually surprising." He said.
"Also, what's with her clothes?" Izo spoke once more. "I've never seen those types before. They remind me of Sabaody, but they aren't from there." He said, frown deepening on his face.
"No idea," Thatch shook with head. "But now that I remember she didn't come to kitchen for few days. Thought something happened to her or if someone caught her, but since there was no sign of her or talking, I just let it go and waited. She appeared few days ago…" He said.
"Thatchy don't be so mean." Arina's voice was heard from above. It held teasiness in it.
His head snapped up. "I'm not mean, just answering the questions I have no answers to." He called. "Since you're still here, where do you come from?" He asked, taking the chance.
Whitebeard's eyes fell on her, her expression poker-faced as it soon broke into confusion and worry. "Well…" she murmured and looked to the side, her legs and arms hanging from the small wood that no one could even stand on there. "I guess I could tell you a bit more about me since you let me eat and sleep on the ship. As you already know, my name is Frye Arina. I'm twenty-one-" Ace widened his eyes. "-and I'm from a country far away yet close. And the reason why I was gone for one week is still a mystery to me. You see…" She trailed off and looked at the horizon.
Marco followed her gaze and sighed. "A pirate ship sighted." He called.
"Who is it now?" Thatch groaned in annoyance as they were so close to hear from where Arina was.
Whitebeard didn't lose his focus and sight off the teen, who wiggled her legs like it was nothing; like she wasn't afraid to fall down. "Come down here, Arina." He called as the pirates went on their positions.
"Don't wanna ..." She replied and stuck out her tongue at Thatch, who shot her a glare at simple disobey.
Whitebeard laughed at her cheekiness. "You'll be much safer here than up there."
"Nah," Arina shook with head. "I'll be much safer here than down there." She bit her lower lip and observed the pirates that yelled over each other. "Not to mention, I can't fight, so I'd only get in the way, which I more than surely know you don't want to. I mean...we don't know each other well yet to the point of trusting each other with our lives."
Whitebeard was surprised by her words, but he laughed, knowing she was right. "As you wish." he spoke. "But if you need any help, you can come down any time you want." He smiled.
"Thanks," she replied with a grin and quieted down, watching the fight that was about to start.
And just like that, her presence completely disappeared from the ship. The pirates weren't confused or scared of the thought that something unknown was watching them as now they knew, who it was. Yet despite all of that, they were still anxious as they felt eyes boring into their backs like there was enemy behind. To some it really was, which they were glad, while some were slowly freaking out.
Once the fight was over, Arina was sitting on the small desk watching the nurses tending the bruises the pirates received. She tilted head to the side before she felt new presence by her side. Looking on her right side, she saw Marco standing in half of his phoenix form.
Arina whistled. "Nice…" she murmured and grinned at Marco's confusion. "If you think I complimented your phoenix form or your toned body in general, you're right for both." She thumbed up and winked, Marco shaking with head. "To what do I owe pleasure to see you up here?" She asked with raised eyebrow.
"Keep Ace from leaving after Teach because he'll be caught and executed." Was everything the First Commander said and looked at her.
"Wow, did I really write that?" She asked in surprise. "Kinda forgot what else I wrote, but okay…" she murmured. "I can say what I wrote is true." She continued, her gaze focused back on the deck below. "If he leaves, he'll be caught and executed. Now Whitebeard wouldn't let that happen, would he? So the war breaks out. A war that sets the New Age…"
"You're speaking like it has already happened." Marco frowned.
"In alternative universe yes." She admitted like it was the most normal thing. Marco widened his eyes. "A lot of people died. And for what? For Yami Yami no Mi." She spat the name of the Devil Fruit like it was devil itself.
"Are you from the other world?" He asked in quiet voice.
"Hm…" Arina hummed and closely watched Thatch, who was laughing at Ace, who fell flat face on the deck, sleeping. "In a way…" she admitted and felt herself fading away. A small smile graced her lips. "I guess it's my time to go now." She looked at Marco, who stared at her confused before realizing she was fading away. "I'm not a ghost." she laughed and completely disappeared.
Arina felt soft bed where she sat on a desk just a minute ago. Her smile faded as she opened her eyes and looked around the familiar room that was hers. Looking at the clock, on her wall, it passed only thirty minutes even though it passed one full week. With a sigh, she untied her shirt and let it loose around her as she changed from shorts into sweats.
Walking out of her room, she looked into living room, seeing her brother sitting on couch, playing playstation. Looking towards stairs she heard voices and noise in the kitchen, knowing her mother was talking on phone once again.
"Hey Arina, want to play?" Her brother called once he spotted her walking towards bathroom.
"Don't have time." was her simple reply as she opened doors and locked herself inside, but not before hearing: "Party pooper!"
She sat on the tub and leaned her hands on knees, her eyes closed. I’m back. Why am I back? She thought to herself and sighed. I messed it up with Sabo… She groaned and messed her hair. How could I mess it up? I could just wait and when he's close enough I could just make them meet each other. I'm such an idiot. She scowled.
Moments later, what felt much longer, Arina stood up and turned around to fill tub with water. She left the bathroom to get her underwear and new clothes before walking back inside. Coming back into bathroom, she undressed and stepped into water, sitting down and sliding under warm water. She closed her eyes, lips turning up in a smile.
Dozing off for a moment, Arina blinked few times when she heard voices outside. With a frown, she stood from tub and wrapped herself in a towel and walked towards doors, opening them. Her eyes met with dark ones, widening seconds later, before they fell down on the man's toned chest and towel wrapped around his waist.
"S-since when…" Ace stuttered, not even sure what to ask as he eyed her from head to toes, noticing the way there were small bruises.
Arina frowned. Weird. I was just at home for half an hour if not more. Isn't it too soon? She blinked before widening her eyes, her cheeks turning dark red at the realization she was naked under towel. "Don't you dare to peek!" She pointed at him and slammed doors right into his face.
"Even if I would you have nothing to show." He retorted back, annoyed she dared to slam doors into his face.
Suddenly the doors opened and she grabbed his hand and pulled him closer, completely ignoring the fact that Haruta was standing behind, staring at them both wide eyed. Ace looked at Arina in confusion before he felt her hands holding his and seconds later they were pressed against something soft.
"Still daring to say I have nothing to show?" She raised an eyebrow.
The freckled teen sputtered out a mumble as he accidentally gave a squeeze, startling the teen in front. Only then did she realize once again, they were both half naked, Haruta standing beside wide-eyed and with Ace's hand on her chest. Her cheeks turned in dark shade of red, Ace pulling his hands away like he just touched fire and turned around.
Arina bit her lower lip and looked away. "Y-you can go and take a b-bath. I was j-just done…" She said and turned around the moment Ace looked at her.
Whatever he wanted to say, it slipped his mind as he stared at the dark spots on her back. It was obvious she was hit by someone and it couldn't have been anyone from the ship or Thatch would know. Not to mention she wasn't around for few days. Ace unconsciously raised his hand and gently touched her back, sending shivers down Arina's spine before she realized what caught his attention. She pulled away and turned around, her face showing nothing but fear, her arms around her like she wanted to cover herself.
"Did someone...hit you?"

Again And Again
Portgas D Ace X Reader
-Amatsuki Y/N decided to stay in the future without her sister upon meeting a friend’s son.
Chapter 13.A: Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Marco placed a reassuring hand on your shoulder. "Y/N, I understand how you feel, but you need to remember that Sabo cares about you deeply. He made that choice willingly because he wanted to be there for you during your time of grief. It's not your fault that life dealt you this difficult hand. If you finally move on from Ace, then everything can go back."
You turn to Marco, you rest your head against his chest, and ask, "Marco, I want to move on… I want to live happily and do as he wanted me to do, but I don't know how. It feels like a part of me is stuck in the past, and I can't let go. I don't know what to do… I just want to go back. I don't want to hold anyone back..."
Placing a kiss on your temple, Marco rubbed soothing circles on your back, "You're not holding anyone back. Don't worry, you'll always have me on your side okay? You have me, Sabo, Luffy, and everyone."
After staying in his arms for a while, you let him go and smile. You left and walk to the only place you found absolute comfort in.
Sitting beside Ace's grave once again, as you do every day, you pour your heart out to him, recounting the events of your day. Looking out to the vast sea, you can't help but feel a mixture of emotions. You take a deep breath, gathering the courage to ask the question that has been lingering in your mind.
"Ace, I've been visiting you here every day. I hope you can feel how much I miss you," you begin, your voice soft and heartfelt. "I wanted to talk to you about something that's been on my mind..."
You pause, giving yourself a moment to collect your thoughts. "It's about moving on. You know, I don't want to leave you behind or forget you. I could never do that."
With a slight tremor in your voice, you continue, "You were such an important part of my life, and you still are. I know you'd want me to be happy and live my life to the fullest. But... I don't want you to ever feel lonely, Ace. If I leave, would you be okay?"
As you speak, a gentle breeze seems to sweep through the area, as if nature itself is responding to your words. It brings a sense of comfort and reassurance, almost as if Ace is telling you it's okay to find happiness and move forward.
"I'll never forget you, Ace. I love you. Always." you say with tears in your eyes. "I promise you, no matter what, you'll always be a part of my life, and I'll keep loving you."
As you finish speaking, you feel a sense of peace settling over you. It's as if you've received a silent blessing from Ace, happy at your decision to find happiness once more. With a small smile, you place your hand on the gravestone, feeling a connection to Ace that will never fade.
In that moment, you realize that your love for Ace will always be a part of you, guiding you on your journey, even as you open your heart to new possibilities and continue to live a life filled with meaning and purpose.
~
"Sabo, are you sure this is the right decision?" Marco asks softly, his gaze shifting between you and Sabo. "I mean, Y/N, leaving like this... it's a big step."
Sabo places a reassuring hand on your shoulder, his voice filled with compassion. "Marco, I understand your concern, but we have to respect Y/N's choice. They need time to find their own path and heal from everything that's happened."
You look up at Sabo and Marco, grateful for their understanding. "I appreciate your support, both of you. But I need to do this. I need to move forward."
Marco nods, his eyes softening. "Alright, we won't stop you. Just promise us you'll take care of yourself, okay? And remember, we will always be here for you whenever you're ready to come back. Don't forget to call all the time!"
"Marco," Sabo cuts him. "She's not going to be gone forever."
You laughed, "I'll be fine Marco. Jinbe will help me get to Fishman safely."
Sabo pulls you in a hug. "I'm so proud of you."
Returning his hold you rest your head against his shoulder, "I'll get better. I have to. Ace wouldn't like it otherwise."
"Why did you chose Fishman Island though?" Marco asked.
"The old man used to protect Fishman Island, and with him gone, someone else has to step up," you say to him, feeling a sense of determination. "It's one of the most targeted islands too. But most importantly, that was where Ace," You chuckle at the memory. "He didn't want to pass through Fishman since he owed a lot of money at the Mermaid Cafe."
As the memory of Ace brought a smile to your face, you couldn't help but notice how far you've come since his passing. Sabo and Marco, who were standing nearby, shared a knowing glance, acknowledging the positive change in you.
When Jinbe came to pick you up with his crew, Marco and Sabo loaded your stuff on their ship. You wave them goodbye, and ask they send your regards to Luffy.
As you venture to Fishman Island with Jinbe's crew, he warns you about the situation on the island. He explains that Big Mom's Pirates have been stalking the island, and their presence poses a significant threat to the island and its inhabitants.
As you arrive on Fishman Island, you find a thriving community and a lively atmosphere. But you also sense the undercurrent of danger lurking beneath the surface. The island has faced its share of challenges, and you realize that it needs someone to protect and ensure its safety.
As you stand amidst the busy streets of Fishman Island, the memories of Ace flood your mind once again. The vibrant colors and lively atmosphere around you seem to blur as tears well up in your eyes. It's as if time has momentarily folded, and you find yourself transported back to a cherished moment from the past.
You can practically see him now—Ace running out of the mermaid cafe, his mouth full of food, and you right by his side, laughing and scolding at his actions. The sight of his contagious smile and carefree spirit warms your heart, but it also tugs at the strings of longing and sorrow.
Your hand instinctively reaches for your heart, feeling the emptiness left by his absence. "Ace," you whisper, your voice barely audible amidst the bustling sounds of the island.
As you gaze at the familiar surroundings, you can't help but recall the laughter, the adventures, and the love you shared with him. The streets, once filled with joy and companionship, now hold a bittersweet tinge, reminding you of the bond you had and the void he left behind.
But even in the midst of grief, a sense of gratitude washes over you. Gratitude for the memories, the laughter, and the love that you and Ace shared. Gratitude for the moments that built you and the impact he had on your life.
With a heavy heart and a tear-streaked face, you take a deep breath, finding solace in the knowledge that his memory lives on within you. Though he's no longer physically present, his spirit and the love you shared endure, guiding you on your journey and shaping the choices you make.
As the streets of Fishman Island continue to bustle with life, you let the memories of Ace fill you with strength and hope. With the promise of new connections, you're ready to face the future, knowing that Ace will forever be a part of you—his spirit running alongside you on every step of the adventure-filled path ahead.
Closing your eye you smile to yourself, "I'm gonna be happy... I love you. Always."

BASICS.
FULL  NAME :   Zoen Mith Menethil. NICKNAME :   Zoey, Isdiearore, Frost Wyrm, Queen, Wraith. TITLE :   Deathlord of the Ebon Blade (formerly a mere Knight); the Wraith; Lord Mith; Lady Menethil (which she does not like); Kingslayer; Kinslayer. AGE :   22 as of Legion. BIRTHDAY :   July 14. ETHNIC  GROUP :   Undead, formerly human of Lordaeron. NATIONALITY :    Alliance, Acherus, Undead Scourge. LANGUAGE / S :   Common, Eredun, the Language of Death. SEXUAL  ORIENTATION :   Asexual. ROMANTIC  ORIENTATION :   Painfully romantic, she wears her heart on her sleeve. RELATIONSHIP  STATUS :   ??? HOME  TOWN / AREA :   Capital City, Lordaeron. CURRENT  HOME :   Acherus: The Ebon Hold; an apartment overlooking the Stormwind Harbor. PROFESSION :  Deathlord of the Ebon Blade, adventurer, mercenary, thief, assassin, advisor, brawler.
PHYSICAL.
HAIR :   Short, white spikes that fall as a cascade of icicles, basically like L from Death Note except bleached. EYES :   Smoking, glowing, lichfire blue. (For those unfamiliar with WoW and death knight eyes, here is what they look like: here, here, here.) FACE :   Heart-shaped. LIPS :   Grey and somewhat thin for her face. COMPLEXION :   Not bad for someone who’s been dead for around five years.  BLEMISHES :   None that I’m not going to talk about below. SCARS :   Many, though her most noticeable and notorious would be the four long, deep, ragged lines that run down her left cheek, starting just shy of her ear and tapering off near her chin. Hidden beneath clothing, on her back, runs the scar of the wound that initially killed her, a deep cut that starts at her left shoulder and runs down to her right hip. TATTOOS :   Due to her desire to become stronger, Zoen and a few trusted individuals carved her up a lot with a bunch of experimental runic tattooing that supposedly augments her power over Shadow and Unholy. See here for a more in-depth talk about their placement and design. (Although it’s not much depth, mind.) HEIGHT :   6′4″ before you factor in her ridiculous hair. WEIGHT :   Unknown. While she is not exactly light considering her significant height and wiry musculature, she is neither exactly heavy.  BUILD :   Ectomorph, for sure. FEATURES :   Zoen has a very hungry, predatory look to her, which combined with the refinement of a royal heritage means that she has a somewhat feral majesty to her. High cheekbones, but gaunt cheeks; elegant hands covered in scars and callouses; soft hair chopped up into a ragged mess. The list goes on. ALLERGIES :   Holy water, the Light, sanctified silver, consecrated ground, love and happiness. USUAL  HAIR  STYLE :   Short, messy spikes that kind of just do their thing. See again: L from Death Note. USUAL  FACE  LOOK :   Mild disinterest.  USUAL  CLOTHING :   Always wearing a black longcoat unless stated otherwise, underneath which she may be wearing either a suit of saronite armor or dark, ragged clothing. In situations where she wouldn’t wear the coat or the armor, she’d probably angle for the Azerothian equivalent to tank tops and black pants, along with dark, heavy boots. (See also: the icon.)
PSYCHOLOGY.
FEAR / S :   Death knights know no fear except the fear of a final death, of appearing weak, of Arthas, of being caged, of giving in to the monster, of becoming the Lich Queen, of losing the people she loves. ASPIRATION / S :   To defeat the Legion, currently. Also not fuck up her job of leading the Ebon Blade.  POSITIVE  TRAITS :   Humorous, witty, loyal(ish), intelligent, curious, generally tries to be a good person. NEGATIVE  TRAITS :   Violent, sadistic, murderous, short-tempered, prejudicial, kinda racist, self-loathing, misanthropic, cannibalistic, devious, deceptive, forgetful, disloyal(ish), unkind, sarcastic, snarky, cruel, not always successful at trying to be a good person. MBTI :    ISTP-T - The Virtuoso. ZODIAC :   Cancer. TEMPEREMENT :   Choleric. (how???) SOUL  TYPE / S :   The Hunter. ANIMALS :   Weasel, crocodile, wolf. VICE  HABIT / S :   Murder. FAITH :   No idea. GHOSTS ? :   Yes. AFTERLIFE ? :   Yes. REINCARNATION ? :   Yes. ALIENS ? :   Yes. POLITICAL  ALIGNMENT :   Knights of the Ebon Blade. EDUCATION  LEVEL :   While Zoen had an educating befitting a noble whilst she lived in Lordaeron, her subsequent fall into poverty meant that formal education became a pipe dream. As a result, she educated herself via reading everything she could get her hands on, furtively attending lectures, and eavesdropping on smart people talking whenever she could. As a result, she’s fairly knowledgeable if rather eclectic.
FAMILY.
FATHER :   Arthas Menethil. MOTHER :   Jaina Proudmoore. SIBLINGS :   None. CHILDREN :   None, although Tiris is basically her floofy wolf son. EXTENDED  FAMILY :   Calia Menethil (paternal aunt). Derek Proudmoore (maternal uncle). NAME  MEANING / S :   Zoen comes from the Greek name Zoë, which means “life” while Mith is obviously just a misspelling of “myth.” So her name is basically just me saying that she isn’t real, among other things. HISTORICAL  CONNECTION ? :   I don’t really understand this question.
FAVORITES.
BOOK :   Changes often. Currently The Emperor’s Burden. MOVIE :   n/a. Do not exist yet. 5  SONGS :     Unfortunately, Azeroth doesn’t exactly have any in-game tracks. (The jukebox and audiobox tunes don’t count.) So I’ve no idea, but there’d probably be a motley of classical pieces and loud rock music. DEITY :   She no longer actively worships anyone or thing, though she still holds a strange place in her heart for the Light.  HOLIDAY :   Midsummer Fire Festival. MONTH :   January. SEASON :   Winter. PLACE :   Crystalsong Forest. WEATHER :   Raging blizzard, heavy rain. SOUND :   Loud, classical music that drowns out the silence in her head. SCENT / S :   Blood freshly spilled; a garden of flowers; winter in the far north; the spices of a Pandaren marketplace.    TASTE / S :   Plague. FEEL / S :   Tiris’ fur carded through her fingers. ANIMAL / S :   Wolves, birds of prey, foxes. NUMBER :   n/a. COLORS :   Blue, black, white, grey, purple.
EXTRA.
TALENTS :   Singing, swordplay, bladework, piano, lying. BAD  AT :   Chess, dancing, cooking, drawing, morality, apologizing, feeling, gardening, remembering. TURN  ONS :   Good first impression; not being a paladin; height; being a pretty, pretty elf. TURN  OFFS :   Bad first impression; being a paladin; being Gilnean; being Forsaken. HOBBIES :   Reading, playing piano, singing, taking care of Tiris, making and keeping friends. TROPES :    A lot. QUOTES :   “Bastards can’t inherit their fathers’ names, much less their crowns.” ; “I’m the wolf in the woods, darling, and I never let little rats like you escape from me.” ; “You’re just a frightened little boy trying to smash the playset before the other kids can come and play with it. You’re a bit late, love. Void’s here, and it answers to me.” ; “I’m an adult. I pay rent.”
FC INFO.
MAIN  FC / S : Rose McIver in her role as Live Moore despite being around eleven years older than Zoen and not actually looking like her at all. ALT  FC / S : Thinking about branching out to include Riley Blue from Sense8. OLDER  FC / S :   n/a. YOUNGER  FC / S :   n/a. VOICE  CLAIM / S :   She’s kind of in the realm of Halsey and Florence Welch and Eva Green, while being only seventeen and having the weird death knight sepulchral echo voice effects going on.  GENDERBENT  FC / S :   n/a.
MUN QUESTIONS.
Q1 :   if  you  could  write  your  character  your  way  in  their  own  movie ,   what  would  it  be  called ,  what  style  would  it  be  filmed  in ,  and  what  would  it  be  about ?
Blood in the Ice, probably, and it’d likely be mostly about her existence postmortem. More specifically, some of the goings-on during Wrath of the Lich King, when she was still young and raw and primal. The major plot would likely just be her coming to terms with her undeath and her freedom from the Lich King, and how she adjusts to existing among the living, despite their distaste for her and her hunger for them. Plus, yanno, the whole “Daddy’s a monster” thing.
Q2 :   what  would  their  soundtrack / score  sound  like ?
I have absolutely no idea. Dark, for sure, a little melancholic, but also with some fast and sharp pieces during fight scenes or when she starts snapping and yelling and killing people.
Q3 :   why  did  you  start  writing  this  character ?
Y’all know how we all have that Mary Sue character when we’re like, twelve-ish, and looking back at her we kind of cringe and think “What was I thinking, man, that character was just awful.”
     Yeah. That’s Zoen.
Q4 :   what  first  attracted  you  to  this  character ?
I was like, twelve. I stopped writing her when I was thirteen, then came back to her when I was... I think sixteen-ish? Don’t really know why I started up again, don’t really know why I’ve stuck to her so much.
Q5 :   describe  the  biggest  thing  you  dislike  about  your  muse.
I mean, she’s my character, so I have a lot of things that I’m pretty insecure about regarding her, but if we’re going to go into actual dislike, it may be that she’s slowly starting to embrace her monstrosity. Like, being undead does not equal being a bad person, but Zoen is irrefutably a bad person, and the fact of the matter is, she isn’t really trying all that hard not to be. Plus, she’s prejudicial as hell and that’s just... not... cool, bro. It really isn’t.
Q6 :   what  do  you  have  in  common  with  your  muse ?
Uh, not much, really. I, too, have weird-ass anime hair, though I actually use fucking hairspray to achieve this. We both think canines are cool.
Q7 :   how  does  your  muse  feel  about  you ?
Have you seen the hell I’ve made her life and unlife? The girl would vivisect me if she could.
Q8 :   what  characters  does  your  muse  have  interesting  interactions  with ?
Myrundiel Mourningale, Donquixote Doflamingo, Portgas D. Ace, Maveric Unelanvhi, Anduin Wrynn, Varian Wrynn, Jaina Proudmoore, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker.
Q9 :   what  gives  you  inspiration  to  write  your  muse ?
Music, a lot of the time.
Q10 :   how  long  did  this  take  you  to  complete ?
I don’t even know, mate. Too long, for sure.
