I would like to congratulate Klavier Gavin for both the worst aa name and also being the first prosecuter with pretty much no dirt on him. I am impressed and will be adding him to my (slightly) sad boy collection.
also klapollo is better than writghworth
althought the ship name is terrible and i hate it
#ace attorney#miles will forever remain ace in my heart#and larry will forever remain his anime self cause they really did him dirty in the games#anyway yeah congrats klavier#you did what godot couldn't#unless you also for some reason turn out to be a douchebag in the later games#but i doubt that usually we know what someone's about by the end of the game#that's not to say that no other prosecuters are good#edgeworth has a very special place in my heart#and franziska made me feel a lot better about my own name#but let's face it when they show up for the first time they're kinda garbage people#cause they're dumped in trauma!#but they also do very much do crime for bad reasons then#anyway this isn't actually a moral judgement for a silly court game#i don't care about that#i just think it's funny that klavier is the first guy who is pretty much just what he says he is#he is hiding something but as far as he really knows he didn't do anything wrong#he was lied as much as everyone else#also unrelated i think trucy and kay should hang out and terrorize the country

I desperately need people to understand that Franziska's whipping thing really isn't solely a silly character gimmick. Of course it is to a degree, just like Godot and coffee and Klavier and air guitar in court, but so often I see people dismiss Franziska's whipping trait as an annoying feature that adds nothing to her character and I cannot stand it. This is a bit of a rant and I touch on gender inequality and the way I see a lot of men treat her as a character a decent amount within this because I feel like the fact that she is a woman is actually very important to this element of her character, and her treatment is also a lot of the reason why I feel compelled to talk about this in the first place.
Firstly what you need to understand is that not only is Franziska a woman, she is also laughably young when she becomes a prosecutor. She's a 13 year old girl trying to hold the attention of a courtroom of mostly grown men and be taken seriously. It's no secret that misogyny does exist in the Ace Attorney universe of course (see: Godot), but aside from this, maybe it's just because I've been playing Ace Attorney Investigations recently, but she is just very small all around. It's a running gag in Turnabout Reminiscence that she is short, she's small, she can't see things Edgeworth can - although granted Edgeworth is definitely fairly tall, most estimates I've seen linger around 5'8-5'10 (around 170-180cm). And of course, she is only 13 here, she's not done growing, but it's at this age that she actually did begin to prosecute. Naturally, she'd often be underestimated, and we can see a strong desire to prove herself during Turnabout Reminiscence, even just to her father; I can only imagine that this would extend further into her trials as a young girl. Secondly, she's the daughter of Manfred von Karma, whom she idolises to a godlike status and who teaches her everything she knows about prosecuting, and also a lot about life in general - he's her father. There's a lot I could say about their dynamic, but I feel that much of it doesn't need to be said in this specific post if you're already here dedicated to Franziska enough to bother reading this post.
Manfred's courtroom (and often, regular) behaviour revolves a lot around him taking complete control of the entire courtroom, with him even speaking over the judge, overruling objections he does not like and sustaining his own, and instructing witnesses himself. He also often snaps his fingers to direct attention to himself and his point. Franziska learns this, but how does a literal 13 year old girl follow her father in this regard? Well, by force. Whipping someone is a very clear way to get their attention. Not only the person it hits but the people around - whips cracking are loud, they take up a lot of visual space, and they also obviously cause harm to the person they hit. These are all things you can't really ignore - it forces you to look at her and pay attention to her and gives her control of the room exactly like Manfred. I've also been thinking a lot about the end of Justice For All in relation to this. She's lost to Phoenix multiple times and she couldn't beat him even once just to prove that she was better than Edgeworth as she so desperately wanted to. This brings me to another point about her use of her whip. While I think control is a huge aspect and is my main focus here, I think it falls more under the umbrella of Franziska's own perceived shortcomings. We also know that she doesn't believe she lives up to her father's genius, and that she consistently feels like she's walking in Edgeworth's shadow, she says it herself:
I think at least some part of the reason her whip is so important is because she believes she could very well be less than equal to others in the room in terms of certain traits. She sees her father as a genius, knows she isn't equal to him, and internalises this (whether she is actually less intelligent or not I personally don't know what I believe, I haven't played Justice For All in over a year and a half and I would have to replay it to decide my thoughts).
In having to be perfect, there are many expectations she cannot live up to, and this leads to many ways in which she falls short of what she believes she should be. By using her whip, again, she can account for her perceived shortcomings in other areas - control, her intelligence, her ability as a prosecutor. I think this last scene of JFA actually introduces us to the idea that Franziska is somewhat self-doubting in some ways and compares herself a lot with others, not just Manfred, but also Edgeworth, which we see more of in Ace Attorney Investigations during Turnabout Reminiscence, where we see her at 13 attempting to prove that she can "out-logic" Edgeworth for the entire case, and essentially, that she is "more perfect" than he is.
But to come back to her whip, control, and the end of Justice For All.
She is left with little of who she was before and doesn't know how to move on - everything she was taught to be from the moment she was born, she no longer is. She is 18 here, prosecuting for 5 years already and desperate to be prosecuting for even longer. As far as her life was set out, this was basically it for her - become a perfect prosecutor and prosecute perfectly just like Manfred - the ideal prosecutor in her eyes.
A Von Karma is perfect, but she is not - she lost, just like Edgeworth, whom she shamed for the same thing. She gives up her whip here, and I feel that it's truly symbolic of how she feels like she's completely lost control of herself, her life, her relationship with her father and most obviously her occupation as a prosecutor. How could she continue being a prosecutor when she no longer lives up to the idea of it that she's had her entire life? What use is her whip if she will not need to hold the court's attention any longer?
I'm sure a million other people have thrown their coin in the pot on this exact topic, and I'm sure many have said the same thing as me and many have said something different, but I needed to write my thoughts out about it because I couldn't stop thinking about her. This is one big reason why I feel like I see a lot of men who don't understand Franziska and see her as very annoying, gimmicky, and my least favourite - a "female Edgeworth." She is a woman who steals attention and space forcibly; both from characters in-game, and also from the player with her animations that take up time in trials and a lot of the visual space. Of course this makes her unpopular with a lot of men. I'm not saying that if you dislike her or the whip it comes from a place of misogyny, I am saying that I think her whipping trait is reduced to a stupid, annoying gimmick more than, say, Godot and his coffee, because a lot of people don't really care to see that there is intention behind it that reveals a lot about her character, just like how Godot's coffee problem is relevant to his backstory.

Phoenix - Godot parallels
I've been replaying T&T and I gotta say, the parallels between Phoenix and Godot are uncanny. The most glaring resemblance is that they're both so presumptuously convinced that they are the only ones who can and should have the responsability of saving the people they love. Note also that their Japanese names, interestingly, both reference dragons - Ryuuchi and Souryuu respectively - but they do so in reverse : the first kanji for Phoenix and the last for Godot. Godot wakes up after 5 years and learns that the love of his life was killed. He couldn't do anything about it because he was poisoned and thus out of commission. Then he learns that said love of his life had taken on a protégé, and he also learns that the lovesick idiot willingly swalled the same poison that put him into a coma, and was swimmingly fine. He is so pissed at the guy. Also envious. Phoenix was there. Why couldn't he be there instead? Why did the poison put him into a coma, and not that stupid lovesick fool? He twistedly but most furiously hates the guy. Thus he crawls back from the deepest depths of hell. But he knows, deep down, that the one he really hates is himself (not that he could have done anything about it, even if he had not been in a coma - but feelings are hardly logical) Something Phoenix and Godot share is that twisted savior complex. Godot thinks he should have been the one to save Mia, Phoenix becomes a defense attorney because he thinks he is the only one who can save Miles, the only one who understands him (and then it's a slippery slope to wanting to save everyone ever, but that's beside the point). Both are quite presumptuous in these assertions. But Phoenix was able to save Miles (in a way he hadn't expected) - Godot couldn't save Mia. If Phoenix hadn't been able to save him, would he have ended up the same as Godot did? Remember, if he hadn't won that trial, Miles would have faced the death penalty. So, if the poison had worked and he was out of commission for 5 years, he would have been too late. If you think about it, we had a glimpse of what Phoenix would have been like. When he thought Miles was dead, he snapped at Maya and told her not to speak his name in front of him ever again. He was also quite depressed for those months and refused to take on cases at first, cases of possibly innocent people who needed him. And when Miles came back, he snapped at Miles too. Which leads me to my last point: Both Godot and Phoenix resort to anger as soon as they're hurt as their form of dealing with grief. They are so similar. One was just less lucky that the other. Also by this logic you could say that miego is basically narumitsu with a bad ending, which makes me cry so hard darnit edit: it's also fun to note that they both went crazy over someone they knew for less than a year. People call Phoenix ridiculous but Godot is basically the same kind of ridiculous

Headcanons of how would (Ace Attorney) Miles Edgeworth, Godot, Simon Blackquill, Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, and Phoenix Wright react if their shy crush is shocked that they also wanted to confess their feelings?
Headcanons Simultaneous confessed feelings
⚖️ Phoenix Wright x Reader 🚲
Phoenix managed to get burned in love affairs, so he tried to approach this issue as seriously as possible. When you came into his life, he didn't know what to do. You were so sweet, sincere and shy. He just couldn't even think that it was a deception and fell in love with you, blushing often next to you
Maya saw perfectly well how her friend treats you and did not give him peace of mind. She tried to convince him to confess his feelings to you, but Phoenix refused, claiming that you hardly felt the same way about him. Every time he said that, Maya rolled her eyes. She saw perfectly well that his feelings were mutual, but she didn't want to put you in an awkward position, so she kept quiet, because you were friends after all. She was stubborn, so Phoenix eventually gave up, deciding to confess his feelings to you
Maya left the office on purpose, leaving you alone, and Phoenix was determined to tell you everything. When he called your name and said you needed to talk, the lawyer saw how much you blushed, but he continued. He told you that he was in love with you, trying not to get nervous and say something that you might think was stupid. When he looked at your face, hoping to understand what you were thinking, he saw how much you blushed, after which you hurried to hug him and said that you were in love with him too and that you were happy that he confessed first
As it soon turned out, you were in love with him for a long time, but you were afraid of being rejected, so you didn't tell him about your feelings. His confession came as a real shock to you, but you were happy that your feelings were mutual. Phoenix smiled, hugging you back, and realized that he would need to thank Maya for the fact that thanks to her stubbornness, you could now be together
⚖️ Miles Edgeworth x Reader 🚘
Miles Edgeworth devoted almost all his time to work. He did not waste time on personal relationships, much less on relationships, and was confident that this would continue for a very long time. That was until he met you. You were a quiet and shy person who helped him with his work. He was comfortable talking to you and the more time you spent together, the more he realized that he was falling in love with you
The realization of his own feelings for you came as a surprise to him. He tried not to pay attention to them, because he needed to focus on work, but every time he saw your shy smile and embarrassed blush, he couldn't help but think about how cute you were. Eventually, he realized that he couldn't resist his feelings for you, so he decided to deal with it once and for all by confessing his feelings to you. He understood that if you reject him, then he can try to let go of these feelings. And if you reciprocate his feelings, then he will be really happy about it
When Miles asked you to stay in his office, you were clearly worried. You didn't look up at him, and Edgeworth started talking about what had been on his mind for the last few weeks. When he looked at you again, he saw that you were looking at him in shock and there was a bright blush on your cheeks. When he stopped talking, you confusedly told him that you were in love with him, that you were glad that he had mutual feelings for you, and also that he confessed his feelings to you, because you could not decide to tell him what you felt
The next day, everyone who saw the prosecutor was surprised at how happy he looked, compared to how gloomy he usually was. The thought that his feelings for you were mutual really made him smile softly. You were together now not only as friends, but also as lovers
☕️ Godot x Reader 🕶
Godot was known as a mysterious prosecutor with whom it was difficult to find a common language. It happened to everyone except you. You were a quiet and shy person who helped him with his work, collected documents and just kept him company. At first, Godot treated you with simple friendliness. You seemed nice to him and he liked talking to you, but gradually he became more and more aware that he began to have feelings for you other than friendly ones. He fell in love with you
He didn't know what to do. There were still feelings in his heart that he felt for Mia, but he understood that he would not be able to be with her anymore. Another problem was that he doubted that his feelings were mutual. You deserved someone clearly better than him, but his feelings for you only got stronger, so he decided to confess to you in order to figure out once and for all whether this would have any continuation or whether he would just tell you about his feelings and try to drown them out and forget about them
When Godot was delayed at work once again, you kept him company, sorting out documents. He was looking at you, thinking about what he should do. Finally, he nodded to himself, took a sip of coffee from his mug and spoke. He said that he needed to tell you something, which attracted your attention, but when he told you about his feelings for you, he saw a bright blush appear on your cheeks. You looked at him in shock, listening to his confession, and when he stopped talking, you quietly told him that you also had feelings for him
You honestly told him that you were afraid to admit your feelings to him because you were afraid that he would reject you. That's why you were so surprised that he confessed his feelings to you, but at the same time you were happy. Listening to you, Godot smiled softly and felt his heart filled with warmth. His feelings were mutual and it made him happy
🪶 Simon Blackquill x Reader ⛓️
Simon worried a lot of people. His gloomy appearance, dark sense of humor and dark past repelled others, so the fact that you started communicating with him surprised not only others but also himself. You were different. You were a kind, shy, gentle and quiet person, so many people advised you to stop communicating with Simon, but you didn't listen to them, which bribed him, even though he would never admit it. Sometimes it seemed to him that you saw his true identity, which you shouldn't have known about
Although no one, including you, would have guessed it for anything, but he fell in love with you. Simon cared about you, even though he hid it behind a mask of sarcasm, but you never resented him. He did not know at what point you would decide that you would like to stop your communication, so he decided to confess to you so that if you stopped your communication, he would not regret not telling you about his feelings
You were together in his office and that's when he decided it was time to tell you the truth. You smiled sheepishly when he called your name and he confessed to you that he was in love with you. Simon paused, waiting for some kind of answer from you, and he waited for it. You blushed deeply and lowered your eyes in embarrassment, saying that you were also in love with him and that he had the same feelings for you made you happy. You honestly told him that you couldn't decide to confess your feelings to him for fear of rejection, so the fact that he beat you to the confession calmed you down and dispelled all your fears
Few people would have guessed that you started dating, but in private, Simon really became softer towards you. He wanted you to never regret accepting his feelings. He could be sincere with you, at least when you were alone
📿 Nahyuta Sahdmadhi x Reader 🦋
From the very first day of your acquaintance, Nahyuta treated you with gentleness. You were the one who helped him with his work to the best of your ability and at the same time you were probably the gentlest person he knew. You were a gentle, quiet and shy person who was always sincere in communication, but next to Nahyuta you always looked away in embarrassment and blushed. Your behavior seemed nice to him and you were always ready to listen to him when he talked about religion, even if you didn't understand it at all yourself. He could not have imagined that at some point he would realize that his feelings for you had ceased to be friendly
He was watching you and when you noticed it, he smiled gently, but did not say that he was in love with you. He understood that he had to do it and waited for the right moment. He didn't want you to feel awkward, because you'd already be embarrassed by his confession, and he didn't want that embarrassment to get any worse. That's why he decided to tell you everything when you were alone. His gentle confession did make you blush, but he was more surprised that you were not only embarrassed but also shocked
When he finished his confession, you approached him, not daring to look into his eyes and, taking his hand, confessed to him that you were in love with him, but could not decide to confess. Nahyuta seemed unattainable to you and you were afraid to hear a refusal from him, so you continued to remain silent, but he confessed to you and now your fear is in the past. You really didn't expect this, but you felt really happy knowing that your love was mutual
Everyone who saw you together couldn't help but smile. You both looked happier together. Nahyuta treated you with tenderness and care, and you always responded in kind. It was as if there was an atmosphere around you and no one dared to disturb your peace

Robert Pine couldn't be prouder of his son, Chris Pine.
While speaking to PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of Chris' directorial debut, Poolman, on Wednesday, April 24, Robert, 82, revealed what he envies most when it comes to his son's acting ability.
"He memorizes dialogue. I'm ADD, and it takes me a long time to do it," the CHiPs star, who shares Chris with wife Gwynne Gilford, 77, tells PEOPLE at the event, held at Hollywood's Vista Theater.
"He can go off script and get right back on it when he feels something that's good or right, he can do that. I can't do that. And, of course, I'd like to ad-lib the whole thing, but..." Robert laughs.
Robert, who has also starred in series including The Bold and the Beautiful, and All My Children makes a surprise cameo in Chris' new film.
"My voice does. So you're going to have to watch it and see where my voice comes up," he says of whether he makes an appearance in the film, which Chris, 43, co-wrote, stars in and directs.
Admitting Chris "never mentioned" acting while growing up, Robert recalls him realizing that's what he wanted to do. "He graduated from high school. He did one act for his English class of Waiting for Godot. He was very good in it... Then he went to Berkeley as an English major, and he wanted to meet people. And somebody said, 'Why don't you come and try out for this play?' So we did," Robert tells PEOPLE.
"My wife and I went up to see it, and within five minutes we're going, 'Holy, he's really good.' And then he did about four or five plays up there, all wonderful. And then he said afterward, 'I think maybe I'd like to try this.' I said, 'Go for it,' " Robert adds.

Have people who genuinely hate Godot even finished Trials & Tribulations? Because now that I've finished the game, I can not bring myself to hate Godot. If anything I feel bad for him because Ace Attorney's legal system views all murder as the same, even if that murder was self-defense or, in the case of Godot, because the murderer was defending someone else. Yes, I agree that the situation would've gone differently if Godot had just told Phoenix what was going on, but you also need to remember all the shit Godot went through.
He probably at least somewhat viewed Phoenix as protecting Dahlia, however unintentional Phoenix's protection of Dahlia was
Dahlia poisoned him, which put him in a coma for 5 years, and in that 5 years he lost everything
He has an immense amount of guilt from Mia's death, guilt which he projected onto Phoenix because he couldn't handle it
And aside from that, he literally says that if he actually wanted to protect Maya, he would've told Phoenix about Morgan's plan and his own plan to stop Morgan's plan (which is something both Phoenix and Maya dispute, because he did protect her, whether that was his intention in the moment or not). If Godot HADN'T been there to attack Dahlia while Misty was channeling her, there's a pretty high chance Maya would've died, and from how Godot discusses Misty, she asked him to do it.
It's such a complicated situation specifically because of the spirit channeling stuff. Did Godot attack Misty while she was channeling Dahlia because he was protecting Maya or because he saw Dahlia, who had quite literally ruined his life? He doesn't even seem to know, because he says he doesn't know what was going through his head.
I can't even really call Godot a villain, he's just an asshole with a tragic past that I can't help but pity him for. He admits to the murder and explains himself without having to be pressed much, and he's calm the entire time he's explaining himself, which is better than can be said of most of Ace Attorney's culprits.
The reason Godot didn't explain his plan to Phoenix essentially amounts to petty distrust and projection, potentially with some pride mixed in. His reasons for not telling Phoenix what he was planning to do amounts to "I don't know how to handle my own guilt, so I'll project it onto someone that'd be easy to blame" and that happened to be Phoenix, because Phoenix was working under Mia when she was killed, making him easy to blame for her murder so he doesn't have to deal with emotions he's probably not ready to deal with yet.
I still want to put Godot in a jar and shake him for some of the shit he says but I can't hate him. He's such a fascinating character to me and possibly one of the Ace Attorney characters I feel worst for (first place for Ace Attorney character I feel worst for still goes to Klavier but I think Godot is in a close second).
#ace attorney#aa godot#ace attorney trials and tribulations#i didn't think this would turn into a ramble about godot but yknow what. i think hes just one of those characters for me#by “those characters” i mean characters that i will analyze 100 times over and never get sick of it#klavier and kristoph are also a pair of “those characters” for me#also there are absolutely more annoying characters in the original trilogy#if you think godot is the most annoying i think you need to play the original trilogy again

DevLog 2 - The Devining
well. it only took 3 months. but here is our new devlog! or however you call it... We did write a whole devlog for early march, but with school and work taking up most of our schedule, we did not post it, and most of our progress fell to the sands of time.
Snail (@snailmusic) -
Yeah I didn't do nearly as much as freep, so most of those changes will be down there. part of the reason though is that ive been doing a lot of work on my music (haha yes self promo) so if you want to check that out it'd be great! (most of yall are just from my acc so you probably alr know) (my current style of music is probably not representative of O2's audio style or vibe, still working towards that)
The main thing I did was improve trenchbroom (level editor)/qodot/godot interop, which can bring us closer to building some levels (and who knows, a little alpha test in the future ;)). It was actually realllyyyy annoying due to a lack of documentation for qodot 4 (and also ill admit it, a bit of my stupidity) so there was a bug that I couldn't fix for a long time but eventually it was fixed and now it works great!
I also started looking more into the art style of the game, and I'm even learning a bit of how to draw (thanks to my friends! I wouldn't be able to learn like at all without them lol).
^ guy on a cube
oh yeah speaking of outside help im getting this is (very slightly) now bigger than us two! the others aren't doing too much we can note right now (one doesnt have a tumblr acc either) but when their contributions come more into play we'll include them here.
See ya next time!
Freep (@freepdryer) -
Back in march, i spent a lot of time working on the AI, getting it to move… and run away, sort of. But more of that will come later.
Lots of these last week or so has been on the character controller, and reinventing the wheel to introduce a state machine and get a lot cleaner code so its easier to revisit if we ever had to.
Im proud of the work that we've done so far, as we come close to a prototype with *Gameplay*
New Things
Changed the look of the enemy slightly to remove the “amongus factor”
Rewrote the entire script for nav pathing
New enemy prototype can now feel pain / has a health pool that can be depleted using bullets from the player
Added a new line of sight for the enemy to check whether or not the player is in the area to follow
Added the ability for the enemy to hide - WIP - enemy can hide but isnt very good at it. Kinda like a child who turns away while hiding in the corner.
Enemy can also detect when youre in a certain range, I will be adding more flags later on for detection (when the player shoots, sneezes, or explodes on accident)
New testing map!
New areas for target practice, line of sight testing, following and hiding
New player character controller!
Rewrote the entire script for the inclusion of State machines
This was painful.
Added 6(?) new states for several movement states
Added animations for
Walking
Running
Jumping
Crouching
Fixed the stair problem
Whats next?
Continue work on enemy AI - finish hiding, add roaming, add attacking
Dunno?
Fix the stair problem again, but more?
Weapons!
The end?
Thanks for coming to our devlog! We will be back hopefully very soon!

Paul did not just read playscripts, he regularly attended the Liverpool Playhouse and the Royal Court, where he would sit up in the shilling seats by himself. PAUL: I was quite a lone wolf on all of that. I never used to go with anyone. I couldn't find anyone who wanted to go! [...] I'd take a bus to the Pier Head, go on the ferry by myself. I'd take a book of poetry, or a play, or something to read, come back on the ferry, take a bus home. Think of myself as a bit of a poet, observing people, sit on a bench and write a little bit about what I saw. I was very conscious of gathering material. I didn't know then what it would be for. I really fancied myself as an artist. I was preparing. I didn't know how the hell I was ever going to achieve it from my background. People didn't become this. But my mind was full of it, it was an intoxication. I'd buy books from Philips Son & Nephews: Under Milk Wood, a lot of Dylan Thomas; John Steinbeck; a little bit of Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot. Or I'd steal them. There was a bookshop you could go in and very easily nick them. Gerald Hoffnung's cartoons was the first book I stole. I'd go to lectures. I went to a lecture on Le Corbusier at the university. I was trying to prepare myself to be a student. I had time, I'd do a little bit of work with the band, but I didn't know if I would actually get to university or get somewhere. What was my next thing gonna be? Teachers' training college?
- Barry Miles, Paul McCartney: Many Years From Now (1997)
#bold my own#paul mccartney#from a poor working class family myself and the feeling of a need to prepare/better yourself#whilst having that uncertainty & thinking 'people don't become this' when doing anything creative or academic is relatable#also. how many stories are there of paul stealing when growing up lol#i swear i've seen multiple now

I'm gonna answer asks from dgsblr and go to bed so this'll be my last post on main for the night but in summary:
I woke up at 8am and had six dms over two platforms in less than two minutes informing me of this.
It's been slammed at work all day and I have not stopped for -checks notes- sixteen hours now.
Eustace Winner isn't the worst possible name, I don't mind Eustace but Winner is just. Not great.
Couldn't care less about Justine anyway so that's no issue, I'm not gonna use it tho.
I'm not changing my url and 'Eddie Fender' is a slap in the face so that name can fuck all the way off.
I'm... happy it's getting ported? I think?
ProZD probably won't be able to voice Gregory again so I'm worried about that.
But it looks like they might be fixing Ray's characterization a little bit so he comes off less creepy (which was a mistranslation) and more just European? I hope so, anyway.
I'm not really prepared for the fandom to be racist against Ray the way they already are/were against him and Godot but I guess I'll just have to deal.
AAI2 is genuinely a really damn good game, and them fucking with the names doesn't change that.
No matter what I must just remind myself that at least it isn't Evillious Fucking Chronicles levels of bad sequel. Nothing is going to top Heavenly Yard for bad sequel and I'm including Spirit of Justice in that.
On that note, Netflix Saint Seiya did the same thing and also girlified Shun, which was a piss-poor choice. So congrats Capcom the bar was in hell and you did in fact clear it.
There's already an ao3 workskin that will simply fix the new names into the old names. Problem solved.
I whined about it for a day, yay, and now I'm going to blacklist some tags so I never have to see this shit again and we'll be back to your regular "Pale tries really hard not to be a hater on main because being a hater on main is too addictive" blogging tomorrow.
I'm... actually kind of glad the AA server burned down, now? I would not have coped well with having to fucking admin that shit right now and it would have been demanded of me and it would have made an already bad week worse.
I really want to not check the tags for a while but I also don't want to miss TGAA fanart, so hell world.
It's past midnight and I have work in the fucking morning still so I'm gonna sign off now. Fuck my stupid baka life. I'm tired.

[PBH Log #3] Just For Consistency
September 5th, 2023
Hi! Am powbrick!! I already forgot how I wrote the intro on my last update!!! Anyways here's the footage of the week!!!!
(music suggestion by @spoderluks)
Unfortunately I got sick for half the week and couldn't find the drive to update many visuals as planned, so this will be a short update.
--- Godot Icon -> Peanut Bag
So long, pal. You did great work.
Angle-wise could make sense to animate Vincent kicking the bag at the gang (than throwing at them).
If they get more peanuts they likely wouldn't care
--- Some Shader FX
While I darkened the tile colors, I also added a gradient and played around with the table shadow using Godot's shader.
I went a lil crazy with this a while back lol
(Also I had to replace the mosaic shader with yam in the recent build because render order-wise it conflicted with the bg shader)
(Emphasis on the "had to".)
--- Reworked the Emitter System
I won't get too much into this, but the next thing on the gameplay to-dos were sub-patterns. This way I could expand the creative bounds with the pattern attacks (in short, be more cruel to the player). I thought it wouldn't take long, but turns out the implementation in the last build wasn't ideally structured for sub-patterns, so I ended up re-coding majority of the emitter code.
No obvious feature is shown, but hoping the time I spent on this is well worth it in the long run.
-----------------------------------------------------
Generally I will note down Next Goals here, however I am tired today and next week will also be slow since I'm goin on a short vacation so we will see what gets done lol
-----------------------------------------------------
Thanks for reading and see ya next update!

This au is a parasite on my noggin....
What a small girl. She looked weaker than any kid Godot had ever seen. Dark bags under her eyes and she was a mess. Her hair was supposedly straight but after days of hiding in bushes and hardly surviving at all, he didn't blame her for her hair resembling a rat's nest.
And gods, she shouldn't even have been there. She should have been with a family member being cared for by loving hands, not at her papa's trial. Such a young child, she had done nothing to deserve that.
Of everyone in the office, the girl seemed to fear Godot most. Again, he couldn't blame her. His mask was odd and he wasn't the most friendly looking man out there.
Still, it was important she trusted him. Hesitantly, he removed his mask and lay it aside. The world was a horribly dark blur without it, but he could tolerate not seeing for just a little bit, just long enough to talk to her.
He knelt in front of her chair, carefully grabbing one of her hands.
"Are you ready, Elena?" he asked as carefully as he could.
"No," her tiny voice squeaked.
"It will be okay, lady Clarissa will hold your hand and she'll stand next to you. No one can hurt you up there."
"What about Harvey?"
"There's twenty guards and Clarissa is just as good at magic as your papa, they'll all protect you and you won't even get scratched!" Godot smiled as he said it.
He could only hope his words had calmed her for he could not see her face. He sat beside her and she asked every question she could think of about the trial.
Will they listen to me? What about papa? Would they take papa away? Can I hug papa?
"Why do you have a scar on your face?" she finally asked.
Oh. That.
Godot never done much to hide it for he never saw it himself, but it was still there. Just under his left eye, going diagonally up and ending at his hairline above his brow. He could only imagine it made him look scarier, but it wasn't as bad as that accursed mask.
"I knew a girl called Maya. She was very special, a lot like you. Someone tried to hurt her, but I protected her," he explained.
"So they hurt you instead?" Elena muttered.
Not because it was him specifically, but she wasn't wrong.
"Yes, they did. But I survived and I'm fine now, and what's more important is that Maya is too!" he smiled.
Elena stayed silent for too long. He wanted so desperately to now if he had said something wrong but the accursed poison that ruined his eyes couldn't make an exception just this once. He was left wondering.
"Will they hurt lady Clarissa?" she whispered.
Who knows. It was anyone's guess really. She might get hurt shielding Elena or Harvey might try to kill her for being so close to Osvald. Perhaps even the townspeople might hurt her, thinking she was an accomplice to the crime, whatever it was. There were so many ways lady Clarissa could get hurt.
"They won't. I'll make sure you both come out unscathed, I promise," he said firmly.
...
...
...
Again, that dammed unreadable silence. How he cursed Dahlia, cursed the day she took not only his years of his life but his appearance. He once looked normal, he once had eyes that didn't need a mask to see. Once, what felt like a lifetime ago, he did not scare people by merely existing.
...
"You're right. No one will hurt us if they know how strong you are!" Elena said, an odd sound at the end of her sentence.
A chuckle.
She wasn't scared.
The door opened and a guard ushered them inside the courtroom. Dozens of spectators watched their every move as they entered. Godot took his place, and with his mask back on, he could see Elena and Clarissa wait by the entrance. She held her head up high and tightly clutched Clarissa's hand. What a brave young girl she was, not daring to show how scared she was in a court of law.
...
He absolutely could not get the guilty verdict, no matter what it cost. Elena didn't need to be strong, she needed her papa.
TURNABOUT SCHOLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
elena being so brave entering the courtroom…godot taking off his mask when he talks to elena so she isn’t scared…….. weh,,,,,,,,,, pie the power you now hold with being able to write about godot now……

late 2001 - Paranoia
((Content warning: anxiety / mental health issues ))
((Promptspiration: @whumptober-archive 2023: day 23: Its gonna get me by the end of the night. / Shadows / Stalking / "Who's there?" ))
((A couple months after the escaped Death Eater incident, which is largely what Theo's thoughts are referring to.))
Genre: hurt/comfort
Romance level: major
Angst level: 4/5
Draco's headspace: anxious / irrational -> frustrated
((words: ~1600))
------------------------------------
Knockturn Alley was dangerous. It was just a fact. It was where you went if you were looking for criminals, Dark wizards, and those better not seen with. Draco knew that. Even he, Malfoy or not, had almost been mugged there.
Theo had begged him not to wander around on his own. But he was stubborn. He was arrogant. He was in denial. Any of those things. He determined to walk the length of Knockturn Alley to Theo's house at the far end instead of flooing there, so that no one could gossip about where he went. He had told himself it would be fine. Why did he do that?
There was something wrong with his footsteps. There was another set there, in the echo, the sound of someone trying to match his steps so they wouldn't be noticed following him.
The shadows had already taken over the street, leaving just a hint of orange sky visible over the roofs, rapidly turning purple, and the darkness left him feeling exposed. He didn't have enough eyes to watch every corner and crevice in the twisting street. He had his face turned back, trying to find the stalker, so he nearly ran into a street peddler and had to scramble onward to get away.
The street was lousy with strangers, with eyes, with furtive glances and whispers and backs that turned. With blank faces that would affirm they saw nothing that wasn't their business.
There wasn't anybody there. He knew there wasn't anybody there. No one was following him. It was just people doing normal people things. All he had to do was walk calmly because he knew that there was nothing after him.
He knew that but he could still feel it, that phantom echo of footsteps, closing in… He knew it wasn't there but secretly it was. And while he walked, calmly, logically, rationally onward, it was getting closer.
He couldn't take it anymore. Apparating into a public street wasn't really safe, but he had to. He broke into a run, fishing out his wand as he did, and Disapparated between one step and the next.
—
Theo came out of the kitchen when he heard the door slam, shoving a last bit of steak into his mouth, looking up the hall to see if this was Draco pissed off or if something was wrong. Finding him pressed against the door, shaking, with his eyes closed answered that. "What's the matter?" he asked with his mouth full, coming up to hold his arms.
"There's no one there," Draco blurted out. "I know there isn't, I just— My fucking mind!"
All right, that was completely nonsensical. He calmly pulled Draco away from the door, rubbing his arms to try to soothe him, and guided him down the hall. "Maybe Godot made some tea. You can start at the beginning." He had found that, outside of there being obvious danger, he tended to get calm as Draco got frantic. He thought it helped him. Right now, he felt like an icicle, which was a testament to how worked up Draco was.
There was in fact tea sitting out by the sink, and he pulled Draco in front of it. On his way past, he shoved his steak and potatoes to the back of the table so Draco wouldn't have to smell it as much.
Draco didn't even seem to notice the tea; when he was put in front of it, he pulled out of Theo's hands and paced the width of the room, running his hand through his hair. "I am not afraid of the dark!"
So it sounded like he was, actually, afraid of the dark? "After what you've been through, Draco, no one would blame you if you were." He started making up Draco's tea himself, loading it up with sugar.
"I'm not," he denied with all the force of his personality, which did little to make it sound more true.
When he stalked back in his frenzy, Theo lifted the tea into his path and caught his arm to encourage him to take it.
Draco blinked down at it and accepted it without a word, his spiral interrupted.
"Tell me?" He rubbed Draco's arms again.
"I…" Theo rubbed his back, and he took a bit of tea, then a deep breath. "I thought I was being followed. I wasn't — I know I wasn't. I knew wasn't." He sat down at the table with his tea, dropping heavily into the chair, without his normal grace. "It was in my head and I knew it. I was thoroughly aware that it wasn't real."
"But…?" He wrapped his arm around Draco's chest and shoulders.
"But I still had to run away." He gripped the teacup tightly and stared into it. "I still had to panic and run because if I didn't I felt like I was going to die. Over nothing." He shoved the tea back on the table instead of drinking more.
He smoothed Draco's hair back and kissed the top of his head, formulating a response in his thoughts, trying to find a way to phrase all of the understanding Draco deserved without making him feel pitied.
"If I know there's nothing to be afraid of, why am I still so afraid?!" He shoved the table into the wall; it knocked over his tea, spilling it out over the worn wood and running up against Theo's supper plate. He grabbed his hair in both hands and let his head hang.
"I wish I could do something about it, or at least had an answer." Theo hugged him tightly, rubbing his arm and trying to get him to let himself go. The answer was that Draco had had so much that made him feel vulnerable, but Draco didn't want to hear it; he didn't want or need to hear a litany of his trials. He wanted to be able to ignore them, even though it was clear they were still affecting him.
"I don't want an answer, I just… don't want to be like this…"
He silently rubbed Draco's arm, and then pulled him to get him back to his feet. "Let's go sit outside."
"Why?"
"So you won't be afraid of it."
"I already know there's nothing to be afraid of, it's not going to accomplish anything."
He calmly rubbed his back. "Let's just do anyway."
Draco reluctantly let himself be led back down the hall and out the front door. Theo pulled it closed solidly behind them. They didn't go anywhere; Theo just pulled him gently down as he sat on the top of the front step, legs stretched out to the cobblestones.
Draco was as paranoid as ever about being seen with another man, so he just sat beside him, not touching, and Theo didn't push it. To be honest, they were sat right next to a skeevy rooming house; it was pretty conceivable that anyone who happened to see Draco holding hands with a bloke might get some blackmail-y ideas in his head — not because there was anything wrong with it, but just because Draco was hiding it.
It wasn't a bad night; cold, but clear. They could see a pair of wizards in spirited conversation wandering vaguely down the middle of the road in their direction, plus a solid group in Muggle clothes going the other direction and talking in low voices amongst themselves, hear loud voices from the pub down the corner, and further up toward Diagon Alley a kneazle yowled its complaints as it was tossed out of a shop. They didn't have much in the way of street lamps, but half of the windows up and down the alley were lit; Knockturn Alley came awake after dark.
"How do you feel?"
"Stupid." Draco felt around for a pebble or chip of stone and lobbed it clattering into the street.
"Well, you're not."
Draco didn't say anything. He found something else to throw, and sat with his chin almost on his knees, watching the people go by without being obvious about it. Eventually, he pulled out his wand and cast a Disillusionment charm on himself with no warning, so that he effectively vanished.
Theo sat up, watching the spot where he had been and trying to readjust his eyes in the darkness to pick out his shape instead of colour. "What's this about?"
Draco didn't answer, but he could hear him moving, and then he nudged Theo's leg and sat on the step below him, between his legs. He felt his arm picked up and pulled around Draco's shoulders. Draco settled back against his chest, holding his hand lightly on his shoulder.
He felt the top of Draco's head with his chin and kissed it. "Sure," he said, voice light. "This is inconspicuous."
"People are used to you being weird. But I could do you too."
"That's up to you." He rubbed Draco's arm. He couldn't see it, but Draco felt more relaxed now, he thought. "Do you feel better?"
He felt a nod against his shoulder. "I'd have been fine if I weren't alone," Draco said quietly. "It's not a solution, it's just another side of the problem."
"I don't know, it seems pretty reasonable to feel safer if you have someone with you."
"But it isn't about that. No offence, but I don't feel like you're going to 'protect me'."
"Okay, a little offence taken."
"All right, I know you would, but it isn't about that. It's that having someone there gives me a way to divert the crazy thoughts. Reality I can touch and push them away."
"Your thoughts aren't 'crazy'." He nuzzled into his hair.
"They are," he said quietly. "I know they are. I am. I can just control it when I'm with people. When I'm alone I can't stop it."
He knew nothing his instincts said to say, about not leaving him alone or about him not being mad, was the right answer. He didn't think there was a right answer. Instead of saying something empty and unsatisfying, he kissed Draco's head again and wrapped his other arm around him as well to hold him tightly.

How do you feel about Sister Iris in general?
I never thought someone would send me a question or pretty much anything...
Anyway, to answer your question:
I'm kinda neutral. I neither hate or like her.
(This is my answer. But, if you want an explanation, you're free to read the rest down here. But, it's more opinionated than factual: ⬇)
She's not evil, sure. She is nice but not necessarily a good person. She just felt more like an enabler to me; considering she made her serial killer sister wait for 8 months, just to get a small piece of jewelry back.
Yes, it was partially Phoenix's fault, because he didn't want to give it back.
But I'm sorry, unless Phoenix is the kind of person to lock his girlfriend in a wrestling hold going: "Sorry, Dollie. I'm not giving it back!" --it can't be that hard to get the necklace back.
If the necklace was rust resistant, or she's not allowed to stay with him for the night, couldn't she have made up a story like: "Feenie, I'm sorry. But, that necklace actually belongs to my really strict grandmother. She'll have my head, if she finds out I'm the one who took it!" --I doubt Phoenix would keep it after hearing that. It would be selfish and a**hole of him to do, if he did.
My only conclusion to why it took so long, is because she loved the attention Phoenix gave her. Growing up with Sister Bikini as the only person who cared for her, made her starved of affection. So, I believe she stalled on purpose. (Which kinda makes it sad, if you think about it... But it's still not right.)
There are also the other crimes she was involved in.
- I don't really blame her for the fake kidnapping incident. I mean, if I were her I probably would've ran away too. I'm not sure what she could've done to stop that plan anyway, it was 3 on 1. And I don't think she had any evidence to show the police on her side. So, not getting involved was the best choice.
- But the Misty Fey murder..... I don't understand why she went along with that. Or why she covered for Godot.
I have an idea on why Godot wanted to derail the case and frame her, though. I believe he hated Dahlia so much, he wanted to wipe away anything that could remind him of her. Iris being one of them. (Because.... she's the twin, ig.)
But the rest of it? ...I honestly don't understand why Misty and Iris went along with the plan. (Did I miss something?)
So, Iris kinda has mixed morals. That's pretty interesting. But, sadly... her story ended after T&T. So, that part of her character was never explored any further, after the plot twist reveal. Which is why I don't really know how to feel other than neutral.
I do believe she was a wasted character...
I would have loved to see her character's growth, after T&T. But, I believe the writers were just scared of upsetting shippers. So, Iris never showed up again. :(
But one Iris line that will always stick with me, is this:
"If I had found out she planned to kill you...
...I would have done whatever was necessary to stop her."
"Even it meant her life... or mine."
Because, HONESTLY!!! That gave me the same chill as Mai's:
"You miscalculated... I love Zuko, more than I fear you..."
Anyway, I'm done ranting. Thank you for reading.

hello there! can i ask for phoenix wright, godot and apollo justice (from ace attorney) with a friendly and extroverted reader? (if it's possible, could the reader be gender neutral please?)
Headcanons Extrovert
⚖️ Phoenix Wright x gn!Reader 🚲
Every day Phoenix noticed more and more that he was surrounded by friendly people. He spent a lot of time with Maya, who was sociable and full of energy. He spent even more time with you. You've been together with him for a long time and he never stopped wondering how sociable you could be. You easily found a common language with the people around you. Phoenix saw with my own eyes how you managed to have a friendly chat with a cafe employee in just half an hour and even get a free dessert, just because of how friendly you were
You rarely had a quiet time at home. Every time you and Phoenix had a day off, you were looking for different places you could go or events you could go to. Looking at how happily you were smiling, Phoenix just couldn't help but smile back at you. You filled him with energy and even when you were working, you shone, attracting everyone with your sincerity and friendliness, which greatly facilitated your joint work
You were good at getting people to like you. They revealed their souls to you and the truth that they tried to hide from him. Of course, you weren't told openly about the crimes that anyone committed, but the little secrets that helped you, you could really find out without even trying. At such moments, Phoenix was glad that you were with him and helped him. People seemed to intuitively trust you, such a friendly and open person, even if they treated him with distrust. Sometimes you used, as you called it, your superpower, and against him when you saw that Phoenix was worried about something, but he didn't want to tell you so as not to bother you or Maya
Phoenix was glad that you appeared in his life. You tried to fill his daily life with light and joy. When he was sad, you tried to distract him by inviting him to go to the cinema, cafe, anywhere with you, as long as he was not sad alone in the four walls of his apartment. When he worked too hard, you tried to help him by sending him to rest and doing paperwork and comparing facts yourself. You took it upon yourself to talk to those who did not want to communicate with him, and even Wendy Oldbag, who did not feel the slightest warm emotions for him, was ready to tell you everything, almost from the first minutes of your acquaintance. Your sincere friendliness endeared people to you and Phoenix was glad that you were one of those people he could really trust and who would be with him no matter what
⚖️ Apollo Justice x gn!Reader 💢
When you and Apollo first met, it was difficult for him to take you seriously as his colleague. You were friendly, smiling and sociable, it was difficult for you to sit still and you often looked for something to do when you didn't have a job. Even when you started dating, he was sometimes surprised by your friendly disposition and how you could seem to take things lightly. It used to make him very angry, but now that he knew you much better, he understood that you were perfectly aware of what you were saying and to whom, and that you took your work quite seriously, although you didn't show it as much as he did
You often worked together. One of the reasons was that some witnesses and customers were afraid of Apollo. Every time this happened, you took the initiative, starting an almost friendly conversation, smiling openly, and easily convincing them that Apollo was only intimidating in appearance, but in fact he was a kind and caring person. He doubted they believed you about it, but at least your friendliness helped you find out information that could help you in your work
You've pulled Apollo out of a stuffy office many times when you knew you didn't have a job yet and he was just dealing with old cases. You sincerely wanted him to have more rest, because you knew perfectly well how hard he worked. Even when he grumbled about it, you didn't give up and with a smile on your lips led him to go to a cafe with you, to the park, or at least buy a new newspaper, bribing him with the fact that there he could read new jokes that he liked so much. He could really grumble, but you both knew he wasn't really annoyed with you
You and Apollo didn't look much alike, but despite that, you worked well together and got along with each other. You balanced each other, complemented each other. He helped you sit still, even when you were trying to do something outside the home or office, and you gave him the energy that he sometimes might lack. You didn't always agree, but rare arguments couldn't ruin your relationship
☕️ Godot x gn!Reader 🕶
Godot was not the most sociable person. Someone considered him mysterious, someone frightening. You called him cute, much to the surprise of everyone who heard it. Even Godot was sometimes surprised at how friendly you were even to a man like him. You've been like this since the very first day you met. Friendly, sincere, active. It seemed to be difficult for you to even sit still. You worked under him and at first he was sure that this could cause difficulties. After some time working together, Godot realized that he was wrong about this
You were sociable regardless of who you were talking to, and it often helped in your work. Godot watched from the sidelines as you chatted smilingly with a witness who refused to talk to the detective. You looked like old friends, even though you met a little over an hour ago. It was like you had a natural charm that helped you get along with people. Even with him, it would seem that you could talk forever. Sometimes he even wanted to tell you about what happened in his life before he became a Godot, but he knew he couldn't tell you about it
Every time he sat in the office for too long, you convinced him to go to the cafe with you. Each time you bribed him by buying him coffee, and each time you took him to different cafes and coffee shops to find one that would suit him. You knew perfectly well how picky he could be when it came to coffee, so you were learning more and more new places. He was surprised by how you tried to please him and did not lose optimism about finding the very coffee that he would definitely like
You and Godot got along well, despite the fact that others found it hard to believe. He felt comfortable around you, he felt like your smile and friendliness calmed him down. He loved listening to your stories and spending time with you. You were like a bundle of energy that enlivened his gloomy life. Maybe someday, he would be able to really open up to you, but until he took his revenge, he couldn't afford it

Godot really getting on my nerves. How can you trivialize my efforts when I was doing my best? How can you berate me for doing nothing when you too did nothing? For Mia you couldn't have, but for Maya you could have protected her just as easily! Don't come to me and say my obliviousness is a crime when by your own logic your obliviousness is what put you in a coma and prevented you from doing what you say I should have done. Your logic is full of holes, and you're lucky Phoenix isn't as violent as I or else that would not be the only thing full of holes!

godot more or less directly admits to projecting onto phoenix. here's dialogue from the transcript
Godot: ...... I never liked you. Six years ago... ...you helped the woman who put me to sleep by hiding her bottle of poison. And then... While I was sleeping... ...you let Mia die. But you didn't care. You just kept living your pathetic, happy-go-lucky life. You even had the nerve to follow in her footsteps as a lawyer. I could never forgive you. That's what I thought.
Maya: Mr. Godot...
Godot: But... I was wrong about you. I knew it from the very beginning. The truth is, the only person I could never find it in my heart to forgive... ...was me.
Judge: Y-You, yourself...?
Godot: I was the one that failed to protect Mia... ...Me and no one else. I tried to avert my eyes from the truth... to escape from the harshness of reality. I just couldn't face Mia's death head on, so I ran! I hid behind a mask. I threw away my true name. I couldn't even deal with being a defense attorney anymore, so I quit.
Decided to grab the in-game scene since I was playing the game and close to that part. The entire thing just made me feel worse for Godot than I already did. Genuinely I think Godot deserves better.
