Incredible to see this is somehow still a topic of debate.
the bangladeshi girl child servant in sixpenceee's family reached legal adulthood this year
#Imagine your uncle just owned an 8yo girl as a slave#And you just post about it on tumblr as a thing that bums you out#instead of trying to do anything#this is how I know you people would not have done a damn thing about chattel slavery if you were born in the 1800s.#you can’t even condemn sixpenceee

next you're gonna tell people it wasn't thomas jefferson or any of those white men's fault they owned slaves like lmfao
Hey, everybody, apologies in advance for the language but right now I am just this meme.
Tumblr: “Hehe sixpenceee owns a child slave“
Me: “Hey guys so it turns out that while sixpenceee has done some pretty awful stuff, that particular ‘fact’ is actually a false rumor that got picked up by tumblr and dogpiled on, and I can prove it’s false by going back to the original discussion, which was about that user explicitly condemning her foreign relatives owning a child slave“
Tumblr: “lmao why are you so interested in defending slavery?“
Between this and that person who commented @ me earlier that even if it’s not true it’s still fine to say it because sixpenceee deserves to be slandered just like... FUCK this is not that hard of a concept to grasp you guys.
I. Do. Not. Care. About. Sixpenceee. She’s done some scummy stuff and I’ve personally factchecked and proven some of it in the last 24 hours alone. But this? This one particular thing? She didn’t do that.
Has anyone taken even a moment to consider that I might have the slightest motivation for getting worked up about this that doesn’t have anything to do with defending slavery? Have any of you considered, for even a moment, that I think it’s one of the most heinous fucking crimes on the planet? Have you even, possibly, considered that the reason I’m so staunch about not letting this lie slide is because Tumblr took real human suffering, and decided that the best form of ‘activism‘ was launching a harassment campaign against a blogger who was guilty by association, but that would do nothing to actually solve the problem?
If someone’s just heard the lie and assumed it‘s true, I can’t really be mad at them. They’re half the reason I try to set the story straight. But I’ve run clean out of patience for hacks like you that can’t handle someone poking holes in the rumors you use to prop up your egos.
That said, if this sort of thing keeps up I’m just about ready to take a break from this hellsite. Y’all might just be the first group to successfully harass me off here. Not even C*rlos managed that. So con-fucking-grats on that, I guess. Maybe once I’m gone y’all can find some nice windmills to yell at.
