you know whats crazy is that bryke himself stated that aang was a self insert

I have the kataang tag blocked now but I guess I need to start blocking some more tags.

Even if you don't believe Aang is a self-insert, it's very interesting how LOK!Aang looks more like a white man. And how Aang's flaws are hardly challenged by Bryke in season 3. As someone who likes Aang, I am very sad about how he was handled in season 3.

And yeah Katara never became Zuko's prize...but I guess it's A-ok she became Aang's hero prize, his forever girl. Doomed to have her fiery spirit erased and to exist merely to be his wife and mother of his kids. At least Zuko put in the work to reconcile with Katara. As far as Aang was concerned, Katara was his because he liked her and did nothing to earn her affection.

Why don't Kataang stans follow their own 'advice' and move on with their canon ship win and stop hijacking properly tagged Zutara posts while they're at it too?? Enjoy your crap post ATLA comics and sequels while Zutara fam enjoys their art and fanfics in peace!

choso week day 3: interactions

My fourth Zutara fanfic bookbind! Clocking in at 769,274 words, I knew that binding Southern Lights was going to be a challenge (to give you an idea of how long that is, the famously long War and Peace comes to only 560,000-587,000 words, depending on the language it's in). In the end, I had to split the story into 3 volumes - this first volume is 872 pages long, and covers chapters 1-30.

After formatting the text (texts actually), I set about trying to design the covers. And I tried and tried, but I wasn't happy with anything I came up with. Finally, I decided that I would do a cloth binding, and then I could add a dust jacket once I made a cover design I was happy with. It's not super obvious in photos, but the vinyl I used to make the title and designs is color changing! Depending on the angle and light, it can range anywhere from a light gold-green to teal to blue to indigo (the colors of the Northern/ Southern lights!).

This is by far the biggest book I've bound so far (and it's only 1/3 of the story), and so it posed some new challenges compared to the other fanfics I've bound so far, but I'm enjoying learning and improving my skills.

it was quite obvious he was staring at you as you strutted your way to your office desk, carrying a small stack of papers that you’d just printed out.

having this knowledge, you decided to steal a glance his way. and boy, did he get flustered easily. admittedly, it was cute. what was even cuter, was the small letter he left you on a handy post-it note, stuck to your desk. who could’ve guessed, your stoic-faced co-worker kento nanami could’ve been so…

granted, he’s had a few interactions with you, each and every one resulting in making both of your days a little better, relieving the pestering stress as much as it can.

and oh, when you call his name like that?

game over. when was the last time he drank water? he feels parched. he cleared his throat, turning his head toward your figure.

“you’ve read my note, i see.” he cocks his head briefly to the post it your hand was clutching onto, before looking up and keeping eye contact with you. the eye contact, of course, only made the pink dust across his face even more painful. but he can’t be rude, right?

“yeah!” you start out, shifting your stance, “i came here to say that i’d love to. you could’ve just asked me to my face, y’know?”

this comment made him internally scream, and almost face palm. well, yes, he could’ve, but how would you accept a date offer from a man who looks like he might combust into tiny pieces, right in front of you? then again, you’re right.

“oh, yes, my apologies. i meant to, but i got a call as soon as i slipped that note over to your space. again, i deeply apologize.”

“it’s not a problem at all. i get it,” you stick the post-it in your shoulder-slung bag, “where were you thinking? and when?”

and the way you were just standing there, existing, almost sent him off the rails. how could you be this perfect? “i was thinking saturday at 4PM, the bakery down the street. if you’re free, and you’re still up to it of course?”

you nodded in response, lips thinned into the most heartwarming smile the salaryman had ever seen in his entire life.

“good, good. so, it’s a date then?” he grinned, accomplished, as he flung his work bag over his shoulder, fixing his yellow tie with the opposite hand.

“it’s a date.”
