Elizaveta Tuktamysheva keeps saying she wants to return to competition and a few things sound like maybe, just maybe it could be this upcoming season, and I really want that to be true
#she's talking restoring her jumps including the triple axel#which you don't need for anything but competition#i think she would need to do what jason is doing and take some time off from show skating and get back into serious training#he was struggling with his triple axel too last season#manifesting them both stable triple axels#i think part of why i like both of them is that they skate for the love of it#and you can tell#they want to be there#and i want to watch them#it doesn't matter if they aren't going to win gold because they don't have quads#and gold medals aside jason is absolutely amazing#and liza's free program from the 2022/2023 season was her best ever in my opinion#both are an argument for not retiring young if you have a passion for the sport#you can keep growing#and they really add something to the sport#figure skating#elizaveta tuktamysheva#russian figure skating

I think what I want to get into with the "Anyone can do harm." thing that I keep beating yall over the head with is that literally anyone, anyone at all can do harm it's not "in your DNA" to be an abuser or written in the stars that you'll be a predator.
Whatever image you have of an abuser in your head, drop it and replace it with your favorite person in the world and you'll probably be closer to the truth than you realize.
It's easy to address harm when it's coming from someone you already hate.
I see it happen all the time. Someone you couldn't stand for no real reason does something heinous then all of a sudden here comes the avalanche of "I always knew they were a fucked up individual."
No, you didn't.
There is no possible way you could have known, you just already didn't fuck with them before they started doing something you could use to justify your hatred of them. I'm guilty of it too! I'm petty, mean, vindictive, and yes! I'm way quicker to believe something bad about someone I hate versus someone I love because I'm human. Still, y all gotta learn to move past that initial "Well, they were always nice to me!" gut feeling and understand that nobody truly knows anyone and anyone can be capable of anything. Even victims. Even you.

the rise of AI art isn't surprising to us. for our entire lives, the attitude towards our skills has always been - that's not a real thing. it has been consistently, repeatedly devalued.
people treat art - all forms of it - as if it could exist by accident, by rote. they don't understand how much art is in the world. someone designed your home. someone designed the sign inside of your local grocery store. when you quote a character or line from something in media, that's a line a real person wrote.
"i could do that." sure, but you didn't. there's this joke where a plumber comes over to a house and twists a single knob. charges the guy 10k. the guy, furious, asks how the hell the bill is so high. the plumber says - "turning the knob was a dollar. the knowledge is the rest of the money."
the trouble is that nobody believes artists have knowledge. that we actively study. that we work hard, beyond doing our scales and occasionally writing a poem. the trouble is that unless you are already framed in a museum or have a book on a shelf or some kind of product, you aren't really an artist. hell, because of where i post my work, i'll never be considered a poet.
the thing that makes you an artist is choice. the thing that makes all art is choice. AI art is the fetid belief that art is instead an equation. that it must answer a specific question. Even with machine learning, AI cannot make a choice the way we can - because the choices we make have always been personal, complicated. our skills cannot be confined to "prompt and execution." what we are "solving" isn't just a system of numbers - it is how we process our entire existence. it isn't just "2 and 2 is 4", it's staring hard at the numbers and making the four into an alligator. it's rearranging the letters to say ow and it is the ugly drawing we make in the margin.
at some point, you will be able to write something by feeding my work into a machine. it will be perfectly legible and even might sound like me. but a machine doesn't understand why i do these things. it can be taught preferences, habits, statistical probability. it doesn't know why certain vowels sound good to me. it doesn't know the private rules i keep. it doesn't know how to keep evolving.
"but i want something to exist that doesn't exist yet." great. i'm glad you feel creative. go ahead and pay a fucking artist for it.
this is all saying something we all already knew. the sad fucking truth: we have to die to remind you. only when we're gone do we suddenly finally fucking mean something to you. artists are not replicable. we each genuinely have a skill, talent, and process that makes us unique. and there's actual quiet power in everything we do.

What if we were both magic prodigies and it otherized us in different ways and we devoted ourselves to protecting a family member who has general other goals & priorities. What if we both did self-sacrifical devotion in opposite ways.
What if we were dark mirrors of each other and where I've grown
overcontrolling you've grown complacent. What if, bought as a servant into a pretty loving home, ownership and control is what love looks like to me, and to you neglected and lonely growing up, love is gratefully taking any scraps of it you’re lent.
By belonging to someone, even if she comes back injured or fails at finding Delgal, she feels like she belongs and is cherished, by owning someone he feels safe in them not leaving him.
She’s what’s tethering him do you see… And he’s the only thing giving her direction and purpose in her state. She needs a compass and he needs a support.
They’re both so out of it 😭 It’s the weirdly intense and unearned mutual trust and reliance on each other?? They’re each other’s weird little comfort codependent teddy bear. Or at least they were headed towards that before SHE DIED THEN HE DIED THEN THEY BOTH FORGOT ABOUT EACH OTHER AND NEVER MET EVER AGAIN. Though she’s also the guard attack hound keeping him safe… And vice versa he heals her and can rewrite her very being with just one wave of his hand. They’re both so so mentally and physically vulnerable both but they cling onto each other. They can’t perceive things accurately but despite it all someway somehow they stumble into something closer to resembling companionship just before they both die. Falin is just that kind and Thistle is just that lonely. Overworked.
We both haven’t lived for ourselves in a very long time, haven’t we.
They both have a similar devotion to the people they love but again the difference is that Thistle starts overtsepping while Falin is self-effacing. The other difference between them is that people care about Falin <3 People have given up on Thistle long ago, and he has given people reasons to, while people refuse to give up on Falin. Yaad has a mini arc about it dw about it it’s ok he’s not all alone in the end 😭😭 He reached out for Marcille’s hand but they already all wanted to help him, they just had to be given the chance to, Yaad just had to be given the chance to, it’s okay I’m okay

#kingdom hearts dream drop distance#khddd#the world that never was#scenery#my gif#i really love how sora's side of this world is dark and eerie and fully leans into how dreams can distort and twist reality#the city looks mostly normal at first aside from the ghostly fog that seeps down from buildings and drifts along the floor and rises up#but as you keep going the ground beneath you is no longer a street but rather the faces of more buildings that stretch over an abyss#it's no longer the sprawling city you first arrived in but instead an uncanny one way path towards your destination#the buildings now twist and contort and are crooked and grow out of the ground in all kinds of ways that make no logical sense#it's the first time that a sleeping world looks easily distinguishable from the real world. it looks wrong. like a nightmare#meanwhile riku's half contrasts heavily by appearing to be fairly normal#the interior of the real castle never made any practical sense so nothing here feels too out of place compared to how it usually looks#it shows how much more in control riku is in comparison to how sora is losing his grip on reality as he descends further into their trap#cool stuff! love me some environmental storytelling#also i finished giffing every world in this game yippee i'm done (is covered head to toe in blood)

Found an old design I made of star boy back when everyone was rewriting the movie Wish lol
Went with both their true form, as well as a human form to blend in on earth. Anyway I like this guy so theyre mine now :)👍
#thought it’d be fun to use blues for the star colors rather than yellow#both to enhance the cosmic feel but to also create a contrast w the human appearance which is much warmer#blue stars are hotter than yellow stars right? so it feels fitting#I feel like this ver of star could very easily develop a wish on their own to be a fully actualized person on earth#rather than being a cosmic entity who can only passively interact w the wish makers#if we go w the idea that each person has an assigned wishing star then this could maybe be Aisha’s star#and she’s never made a wish til now and star boy has been growing restless#I thought it’d be cool if one of the villains was a star coming to earth as well. and the wish granting is to maintain their place on earth#then we could have parallels between our heroes and villains. the human wishing to keep their star w them#idk man. #twdg#twdg clouis#clouis#twdg clementine#twdg louis#sometimes they creep back into my mind and i'm like 'ah yes' like a crow admiring a pretty stone they found years ago and kept#also thank you pi for the screenshots. i used to have a whole folder full of them but that was when i was doing themed nights#the source for these is me i just have a random document full of dynamics and ship things i enjoy because.....i dunno i like keeping track#and so many of them apply to clouis but there's also an overlap of with clouis and rose/alistair [my warden from origins and alistair] like#alistair's romance route is like an evolved matured and extended version of clouis sksksks gee i wonder if i have a type#look you present me with a character who deflects with humor and isn't taken seriously by the rest of the group and the longer you know the#the more you realize how high they've built a wall around themselves and how *unwell* they really are and how they're not as sunshine#as they present themselves and also they avoid leadership and responsibility until they grow closer with someone who pushes them#and they end stronger and more balanced as a person while finding the affection they've craved#and also there's the daddy issues#present me with that character as a romantic option and i'm in no questions asked okay i don't want the mean broody one that's meh to me#i want the one that has every reason to be broody but chooses not to be because they have a completely different defense mechanism#and a warped sense of themselves and self-esteem issues they leave unaddressed until forced to face them#i'm just saying i'm aware that i have a type i'm always going to gravitate toward clouis nearly checks all the boxes#also the lack of clouis these days? my crops are thirsty and i have too many ongoing projects to do anything about it other than this sksks#so until i make time to finish my long ass louis/clouis analysis this is the best i can provide for now

thinking about that theory that peekaboo is a sliver of the wight in the locker, and how maybe that means it maintains a sort of connection to the other part and would be able to see part of what it sees and FUCK.
