Ever wanted to join a Death Note RP server in which multiple versions of the same character, from different timelines and AUs, can all exist at the same time and in the same place? You ever wanted a Death Note roleplay in which the vibes are constantly like this?

There are plenty of shenanigans to be had, although there's also plenty of room for more serious RP and character development, too!

hi ask to the mod so !! i am planning to make a mikami rp blog thing pretty soon (like sometime next month ?) and i was wondering like when i finally do make that blog and get it working, if it could join this rp universe that you all have going on ? the reason i ask in particular is because mikami is from the last arc and after the timeskip so it's a really weird thing going on and it's going ti be very canon divergence so yeahhh

SIX ALMOST-BINGOS BUT NO FULL BINGOS; THIS IS SO SAD.

so my feelings for higuchi are basically HRRRGRRHFFGHHFGGAAAAGGRRRR BARK BARK SOUND OF CHEWING. he is so funny. he sucks. he's nothing. he's miserable. i love him. and he has a fun design to boot!

yeah, he's basically the absolute biggest example of "i like this character because he sucks" that i could possibly come up with. higuchi is completely, fundamentally pathetic in a way that makes me want to squeeze him and shake him around. i love guys that 1. are completely miserable, 2. are complicit in this misery, 3. refuse to acknowledge this complicity, 4. just pity themselves instead. i also love guys with deep insecurities that lead them to fixate on other characters and become deeply unhinged. all very fun and sexy.

making and consuming (and aggressively imagining) higuchi fan content is always fun because you have the option to either make everything Somehow Even Worse for him or to make him experience genuine human connection. either way, he's just an entertaining guy to put in Situations. i have pretty big higuchi fic plans sitting in the fic ideas list somewhere.

that said, i think that fandom at large doesn't realize Why he sucks. like, of course higuchi sucks, but not for Those reasons, come on. for someone who is ultimately pretty simple, rarely do i see him written well in fan content, which is... sad... he deserves more bullying but he deserves Better bullying.

also i would only kiss him because it would be funny.

i love mido deeply. she's probably the biggest example of "i took this character and extrapolated them to the absolute extreme to the point where the headcanons have eclipsed canon" i have from the yotsuba group, which is saying something. someday i need to sit down and write some sort of mido character study-ish fic just to talk about her stupid gay brain in a way that is borderline coherent.

mido is also deeply fun to put in situations because it's like, the writing equivalent of going "maybe if i poke this thing enough it'll eventually move." maybe if i subject mido to horrors and travesties enough she'll stop being so complacent! unlikely, but that's part of why i like her. there is something so compelling about characters so thoroughly wrapped up in their own bullshit, especially when paired up with more active characters.

i should also say that the idea of a deeply complex shimura-mido relationship is part of what first put mido in the upper half of my yotsuba character ranking (especially once shimura has become that more active character mentioned above). this is partially because i used to rp shimura and an old friend of mine used to rp mido, and almost nothing can develop a crazy fictional relationship the way rp can imo. we aren't really in touch anymore, but the mido fondness has very much remained.

Thanks for your questions! Roleplay is essentially co-writing a plot with a writing partner, usually a romantic one for a ship in this context. When I started I always just looked at RP blogs doing it publicly and tried to copy their style, it’s very easy as you just need to be interested in writing. Even if you’re not, you can do short dialogue RPs or one-liners where you don’t write too much, so the goal is just to have fun with the ship and to possibly use it as a romantic outlet.

My advice is to find someone who matches your writing level and enthusiasm for the ship (if they RP publicly, you can have a look at what they’ve written before to assess how it matches your level, and if they don’t, you can ask for a sample of their writing). It’s also good to set beforehand what you want the plot to be (for example some people enjoy canon/Yotsuba Lawlight and set that as the plot from the start, while some prefer doing an AU version where L and Light have different lives, you can alternate between plots also and choose whatever you feel like in the moment!)

Hey mod! I recently was thinking back to your old Xavier RPs, specifically the one where Mad Mod has turned part of the school into Alice in Wonderland. I always loved the Yotsuba one, but it got me thinking; was part of the inspiration for Hero’s character in TPOH from Yotsubato! ? Thank you so much!

hOLY SHIT YOU BEEN FOLLOWING ME A LONG TIME HUH and I never thought of that! the sad truth is I never read much of Yotsuba (I read bits by proxy via tumblr posts etc. though what little I did I loved) so I'm not sure? she's based off a lot of kids I've met/what I remember from primary school, mostly she walked into my brain and was just like oh hi yeah I'm Hero :) and I was like cool sorry about everything you're about to go through

Do you think L has a proper British accent (I think they call this RP accent?) or would he have a Cockney accent?

Apparently Winchester predominantly has people using the RP accent and the simp in me wants L with that sweet RP accent as well but then a huge part of me wants him to have that Cockney accent so he can annoy Light with it.

Something like–

L: D'you wa’ a bo'le o’ wa'er?

Light: 

L: Me froa’ ‘ur’s! Bloody hew, innit??

Light: *wailing*

I am also a simp and would think that he has an RP accent. I ALSO think that he’s very good at mimicking different accents/speech patterns (eg: he canonically speaks Japanese perfectly and did that “bro” voice when calling Matsuda during the Yotsuba arc).

All that is to say, he would totally pull out the Cockney accent to annoy Light 100%
