Yoshi's House And Why Yoshi Can Be Found On Peach's Castle Grounds
So in Super Mario Bros. 4 Super Mario World we get to see the Star Yoshi's House. Eventually in Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island which takes place in the past we get to see an early version of his house. It lacks the chimney and all because he hasn't hatched yet and taken up residences. This also confirms the Island from SMB4SMW and SM2YI are the same Island.
So a little detail that can go overlooked in Super Mario Odyssey is an floating Island located on Peach's Castle Grounds. When you go to it it is labeled Yoshi's House and when you look at it, it's clear this ti the same house from SMB4SMW. This means Yoshi had his house uprooted sometime after SMRPG and moved it to Peach's Castle Grounds.
This also explains why Yoshi seems to always be hanging around Peach's Castle, it's because he lives nearby. This also explains why Yoshi and his friends are living in the Mushroom Kingdom. His friends must have also moved to the Mushroom Kingdom as well.

Coding Week 1: Sidescrollers
This genre is defined by several conventions, including:
The camera views the characters from the side.
The camera "scrolls" left and right with the action.
The game world is a large area to accommodate for the camera.

Celeste is a 2018 platformer focusing around Madeline, a young woman who attempts to climb Mount Celeste on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, in an effort to overcome her anxiety, depression, and self-doubt. Along the way, she meets a colorful cast of characters, including "Badeline", a personification of her various mental issues who aims to stop Madeline. It sits at Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam, with a 97% approval rate.
The game uses very simple mechanics: Madeline can run, jump, climb walls for a limited time, and perform a mid-air dash in one of eight directions - the dash cannot be performed again until Madeline either touches a green crystal or lands on solid ground, indicated by her hair changing colour to blue. Different levels also use various gimmicks - for example, the ruined city (seen in the video above) features blocks that move whenever the player dashes.
The level design is very good, with gimmicks combined in ways that test the player's knowledge of the game mechanics and their skill with platforming. Gimmicks are introduced in simple, easy-to-clear rooms, then gradually combined to create difficult platforming challenges which test the player's mettle. Additionally, while the platforming is tough and brutal, the game is also very forgiving: a variety of assist settings allow you to customize the experience if you are feeling stressed, and death is a slap on the wrist: you are sent back to the start of the room within seconds, throwing you right back into the action.
Like many other indie games, Celeste features beautiful pixel art that creates an atmospheric and stunning environment, combined with HD assets and character art for dialogue and menus. The pairing works surprisingly well and is very pretty to look at.

Super Mario Bros. is perhaps THE sidescroller. The original NES game in 1985 helped to revitalize the gaming industry following the great arcade crash, and popularized the entire sidescroller genre. The fat Italian plumber has gone on to become the icon of not just Nintendo, but perhaps all of gaming.
In this blog, we will be focusing on the New Super Mario Bros. series, specifically 2019's New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, a compiled HD remaster of New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, both released for the Wii U in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Like most Mario games, there isn't really a serious plot - Bowser has kicked Mario and friends out of Peach's Castle and claimed it for himself, transforming the surroundings into a volcanic landscape. Go and save Peach (AGAIN).
Mario games have always been simple in design: navigate to the end of the level and lower the Bowser flag. Along the way, you run into various different enemies, collect power-ups to regain hit points and unlock new abilities, and search for the three hidden star coins (although the latter was added in the NSMB games). The game uses limited lives, regained through earning enough points/coins or collecting 1-Up Mushrooms: lose them all, and its a game over and an additional Continue stamp on your profile.
The game features tight and precise controls (although not as precise as Celeste), with a variety of enemies, gimmicks, and power-ups that vary as you trek across the Mushroom Kingdom, from the classic Super Mushroom and Fire Flower, to the game's newest power-up, the Super Acorn, which gives Mario a flying squirrel suit that lets him glide across the landscape. Yoshi also returns, and this time you can babysit his children: the Purple Baby Yoshi inflates like a balloon to let you hover across gaps, while the Yellow Baby Yoshi emits bright light that illuminates dark ghost houses.
Overall, the game is very polished and works well, although it has long been criticized for lack of innovation. New Super Mario Bros. games are notorious for lack of innovation, feeling almost identical every time with the exception of new power-ups. New Super Mario Bros. Wii did add 4-person multiplayer, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 was focused around collecting coins and accumulating a large amount, but U only added the infrequent Baby Yoshis. Nintendo appears to have listened to the criticism, with the latest 2D Mario game, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, featuring an all-new artstyle and allowing for more variety and gimmicks using the Wonder Flower.

Sonic the Hedgehog. A storied franchise with a notorious yet dedicated fanbase, home to some of the best games of all time, yet also some of the worst (Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic '06). But that's another story. This blog post will look at Sonic Mania, one of the more better-received games that took a step back to celebrate a time when SEGA were a legitimate contender in the console wars.
Sonic games revolve around speed - at least, usually - and Mania is no different. It's all about going fast, collecting rings, scrambling to collect said rings when you inevitably smack into something and drop them all, rolling through abnormally curved terrain, and saving cute animals. Along the way, you search for hidden giant rings and enter the special stages to gather all seven Chaos Emeralds, in order to both get the true ending and unlock a handy super transformation that renders Sonic (almost) invulnerable. The player can choose from Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, each with their own unique abilities (Sonic's drop dash, Tails' flight, Knuckles' gliding and climbing)
The game features enhanced 16-bit pixel art from the sprites used in the classic SEGA Genesis games, and the levels consist of classic Sonic worlds - Green Hill, Chemical Plant, and so on - each with their own gimmicks and enemies, as well as unique boss fights and Eggman constantly forgetting that attempting to harness the latest eldritch abomination's power will always backfire horrendously.

The Hit
I don't know how to say this but...
There was a bounty on my head.
Well technically all of me.
It all started out as roughly a normal day. The flowers were blooming, Yoshi was still on the castle roof trying to avoid taxes. And I was in the gardens trying to perfect my wall jump technique.
Mario: Garth. you Don't slide on the wall. You might cut your hand on a brick or something.
Garth: But that's how it works in the games.
Mario: we went over this already. Not everything in the games reflects real life.
Garth: Keywords being "Not Everything" Mario Brothers 3 was a play in real life. Hotel Mario was based on a true story. And Clu Clu Land is one of the most accurate adventures on the KES.
Mario: We're all aware of the weird avant-garde play based on my life.
Garth: Based on the years of 1985
Mario: Just get down here so I can show you how to properly get it done.
I landed back on the ground. And not a moment too soon.
An arrow ended up hitting where my head would have been.
That would have made me loose like... a unit of health.
Then suddenly two more arrows followed.
That would have done me in.
Or least send me to the infirmary.
Mario: Mamma Mia. Who attacks someone like that.
Garth: I'm unsure. I'm just glad that they missed me.
We decided to head inside. Ending training for the day.
I decided to stay in the castle's throne room where Peach was having her weekly audience. It felt safer to be in a room with more than 10 people.
Unfortunately I had to leave after the audience ended.
I walked across the bridge to get to my home.
I felt a bit of Peace considering I probably could find sanctuary at my abode.
That wasn't till I saw frickin shirikens on my door.
I decided maybe it's best if I stick to crowds right now.
I would queue a montage. but I don't exactly have animation Studio on call
So I'll just bullet point the rest of the day.
Arrows at Astros
Shurikens at Burger Sync
Arrows at the comic shop
shurikens at warp org.
A tomahawk at Dreadpoint (that was unrelated)
Arrows at HEBuddy Grocery's
BOTH Arrows And Shurikens at my parents house.
I decided I would get to the bottom of this after having an arrow be shot in the Pollo of my Caldo and a shuriken cut the limes...
I met with them in a dark Agridulcian location
The Flamenco Bowl.
There i saw two people. A Starchild in a ninja get up. And a Niji dressed as Robin Hood.
Garth: so... Which one of you put the hit on me?
Ninji and Starchild: Neither.
Niji: That's not how it works.
Starchild: People will put a bounty on a person's head. And then bounty hunters will usually go and get that person.
Garth: wait are you assassins or bounty hunters?
Ninji: Bounty Hunter
Starchild: It depends on the job.
...
Garth: I want to know who put the hit on me.
Ninji: Fine. Let me get the laptop.
Both of them then set said laptop and put me on a video call with someone.
The caller ID said: Shiveria Max Security Penitentiary.
Pianta in prison suit: Is it done yet?
Garth: Um...no.
Pianta in prison suit:... Why is the target speaking to me.
Garth: "The Target" would like to have a word with you. For starters why did you want to send me to the afterward.
Pianta in prison suit: Do you seriously not know who I am.
Garth: No. Should I?
Pianta in prison suit: I am Pluto Ulpt. Son of S.K. Ulpt. Or should I say "the man whose dream you ruined"
...
Garth: wait. Like the creator of that giant teapot.
Pluto: It was called [a name I forgot].
Garth:It was gonna hurt people.
Pluto:...Screw it. Attack him.
Then they started attacking me with arrows and shurikens at me. And granted it was probably a bad idea to come to a meeting with two people hired to destroy you without any form of defense.
Thankfully my real plan came to action.
I got there a bit earlier and informed the owner to call for help.
It turns out you can actually call a bounty hunter on them they're Bounty Hunter.
After some tear gas and got dropped in.
I managed to avoid it by finding behind the pins.
That Bounty Hunter ended up taking the other two in for a hefty reward of 5,000 coins. Or at the very least hefty for modern day bounties considering these two.
Apparently Pluto might have an extended sentence due to hacking the computer lab computers at the penitentiary in addition to bring a hit on a future hero.
But he will probably get some new cell mates to keep him company.
That's pretty much all I have to say.
Garth signing off.

Got a buncha mario stuff to check out. Plus one or two others. I'll try and be concise.
Mario Adventures by Brandt White
A very unhinged (and concluded) webcomic about Mario Luigi, and Petey Piranha living in the same house and getting into subversive and/or off the wall adventures. It's improved over the years, but good God, it's like a new grounds project on over drive.
---
Bad Things Will Happen by poker10403
An incomplete comic that's basically Luigis Mansion but with pokemon, a brainwashed Mario, and an evil gengar. No longer on DA but it's been archived elsewhere.
---
It Sucks To Be Weegee by Kevin Bolk
Mario comic about how it well, sucks to be Luigi in the world of Nintendo. Nice art, but it's every "sadsack" comedy webcomic you've probably seen. Link is the gay best friend, Daisy is a jealous obnoxious chubby girl, Lucas is nihilistic, and so on and so forth.
---
Bowsette Saga By Tony Kuusisto
A drama-action comic where Bowser uses the supercown to make peach jealous as Bowsette. As Bowsette, they fall in love and marry Mario, but then begin to have an identity crisis and begin to try and keep the happy ending they got. It's an odd one, for sure, and the detailed art style doesn't really look good for a Mario comic (especially with a Lakitu character introduced later on), but it has some interesting ideas I suppose, like how Bowsette is some divergent personality of Bowser that's gained sentience
---
The 3 little Princesses By Yves Bourgelas (AKA TheBourgyman)
Comedy Comic that focuses on Daisy, Peach and Rosalina getting into hijinxy misadventures and stuff. They hang out, do extreme slumber parties, and stop the retro world from taking over theirs
---
Super Brothers By DogmanSP
A very good webcomic done in a sort of Storybook style, going into detail about some conspiracy centered around Yoshi as Mario rescues her for the first time. It's a very interesting read and the art is on point.
---
Mario's Day Job by Buttercotch
A fairly dry crossover comic about Mario doing plumbing, though it becomes less and less about that as it goes on. Art style is fake anime, with OCs and attempts at humor.
---
Platformers by YourClairyGodmother
Crossover adventure comic about well, Platformers such as Klonoa, Rayman and Mario, and has a bunch of text only stuff for lore. Seems to have been discontinued as of 2020 though.
---
Gangster Mama by Shy Girl on tapastic
A NSFW comic about Bowser unknowingly having sex with a minor named Jasmine, who blackmails him into staying in his castle.
---
Edd Egg by Eddie Bowley
A british (im assuming) gag webcomic about a porn addicted stickman and his friends. It eventually got story based animations, but its pretty base with such things as the straight man literally being called Straight Guy, and a girlfriend character who's literally written in at first to make him happy.
---
Dreaming of Utopia
A....poorly thought idea that has a world where furries are a stand in for minorities. The art is competent but it's so heavyhanded and preachy, and in poor taste
---
??? Dark Black-and-white Disney comic
I haven't been able to find it since I saw it years ago, but there was a comic on DA about Disney Villains taking over the world. Quasimodo was the hero, but he's legitimately insane (tossing a dead bird off Notre Dame in a recreation of a scene from the movie, and really just talking to himself via gargoyles) the only other thing I can recall is a scene where The Cheshire Cat (who is now an expy of Arnold Toht from Indiana Jones) is interrogating Ariel, who has some medallion in her bra, which Cheshire burns himself on in the ensuing struggle. It had a very grimdark tone and an equally ugly artsyle.
This has shades of a RANDUMB comic. Apparently someone remade these comics too.
I can't find it
Oh hey I've seen this comic before. It's very old and it'd make for an interesting riff especially if it makes big changes to established characters.
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh
It's another wacky comic, I've delved in Mario Princess-focused fanfics in the past so I'd give it a shot.
Pretty sure this one falls into "too competent to be riffed" category.
Hoo boy, I didn't even need to look into this further to accept it
Oh yeah, crossovers. This should be fun. I wonder if it will be on the same level as supersaiyancrash.
NO
This has all the makings of a disaster
Oh yeah, this is already on the rifflist. However at some point this comic went missing, but it seems to be back.
If any of my readers can identify this, let me know.

Memories of Mario
So, this is a bit of an out there post from me, but I wanted to put this idea out somewhere in the world. Recently on Twitter there were some posts going around about Selfies from the Mario Bros. crew and it reminded me of this old idea that I love tossing around in my head. The idea being that Mario has a photograph or piece of memorabilia from every adventure he’s been on. And I always loved imagining what these might turn out to be so let’sa go!
Donkey Kong Arcade: A clipping from a Newspaper, telling the story of Mario single highhandedly saving Pauline from Donkey Kong. It’s in black and white and shows two photos alongside an excerpt of the events. One of which is a blurry Photograph taken from the ground showing Mario jumping over a barrel whilst on a steel beam with DK looming in the distance. The other was from an interview where Mario seems humble and reluctant, wearing an outfit similar to his infamous garb nowadays, but with a more generic red cap.
Mario Bros. Arcade: A dingy, old Polaroid of Mario and Luigi at the location of the building in the City where they first took up the mantle as plumbers. The two of them look dirty and slightly tired but Mario looks ecstatic and has his arm around his brother’s shoulder, as Luigi looks surprised and taken off guard. This photograph is the first recorded picture of Mario with his signature red cap, and Luigi has his held in his offhand.
Super Mario Bros:  A photograph taken from the view of a Toad Resident of the Mushroom Kingdom during a crowded festival held for the return of Princess Peach and in celebration for The Mario Bros having saved the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mario Bros and The Princess are seen on a large Parade Float, as confetti flies through the air and crowds of Toads cheer and praise their newfound heroes and the return of their ruler. In the Mario Universe, this photograph is seen as historically significant and a symbol of hope.
Super Mario Bros 2/Doki Doki Panic: A torn out page from Mario’s Dream Journal, with a drawing in crayon that Mario made of Himself, Luigi, Toad and Peach, being cheered on by the Subcon Inhabitants and Wart is carried away by the crowd. Despite being nothing but a dream, Mario sometimes forgets that Wart technically isn’t real.
Super Mario Bros 3: A photo of Mario at a Live Theater, posing with an Actor of himself who’s playing in a show by the title of “The Story of Super Mario!” meant to be a re-telling of Mario’s fantastical journey to save Princess Peach. Humorously, The Actor for Mario looks similar to the Popeye-Esque Mario from the Arcade Era of Mario’s History. Super Mario Land: While not a photograph taking directly after the events of Mario Land, this one is of Mario and Luigi taking a vacation in Sarasraland’s castle with Princess Daisy herself! The three are on a balcony overlooking the dunes of Sarasraland. Luigi can be seen staring intently at Princess Daisy, having been smitten by seeing her in person for the first time. Luigi always gets embarrassed when this is brought up, thinking it rude that he’d done that. Super Mario Land 2: While he doesn’t have a photograph of the events of Land 2, Mario has a small display case with the Six Golden Coins adorned around the old, tattered flag that Wario had put up on his castle with his W Insignia. While the Coins themselves hold no power anymore, Mario still finds them neat! Wario would blow his lid if he found out about this display, thinking of it as a mockery of his loss at Mario’s hands. Super Mario World: A casual photo of Mario sleeping underneath the leaves of the Yoshi House Tree, taken by Luigi. Mario is reclining back in the shade as Peach is petting Yoshi as they’re curled up in her lap. There are many other Yoshi’s scattered in the picture’s background. This photo in particular is one of Mario’s favorites. Yoshi’s Island: A piece of memorabilia that Mario himself is unaware of. In the little house that Mario made for his pet Yoshi that he brought back with him from Dinosaur Land, is a small scrap of white cloth from the little bag that Baby Mario was kept in. Alongside this, Mario is also unaware to the fact that the Yoshi he befriended and brought home with him was the same one that protected him and reunited him with his brother all those years ago. Super Mario 64: A photograph of the Cake that Princess Peach had baked for Mario after her rescue. It looks practically identical to the one seen after the credits of Mario 64. Mario took the photograph because he thought it was one of the nicest gifts anyone had ever given to him (even if it was for rescuing them) and didn’t want it to be gone after it was all eaten! Super Mario RPG: A photograph taken at Marrymore on the way from Tadpole Village to Seaside Town. Truth be told, this idea isn’t all my own as it is the very same image used in @loopy-lupe/Nathalie F.’s Comic-Retelling of The Super Mario RPG Story! I highly recommend reading it and supporting her work as it’s what inspired this idea in the first place! And that’s all I have so far! This was all written as a stream-of-consciousness thing and is just an idea that I love to bits! I always saw Mario as a very caring and mindful person but also one who’s busy just due to how exciting his life is! So I imagined that whenever he had a moment to rest in his own home, he’d always have a memento of old adventures and old friends he may not get to visit often. If anyone else has ideas for little photos or trinkets like this i’d love to hear it! This is a concept I love playin’ around with.

The Death of Mario- Part One
It was another bright, colorful, and joyous day within the Mushroom Kingdom. All recent efforts to restore any dire pandemonium within the kingdom had entrenched itself firmly in the past, and the residents played games, made merriment, and ran cherished errands amid the lull.
The kingdom fluctuated between utter chaos and relaxed organization so often, that such back-and-forth was simply the norm. Princess Peach transformed from an anxiety suffering wreck to a complacent badass, and wandered freely about the realm despite an evidently approaching kidnapping. Through sagacious counsel and spiritual advisement, she had come to the peaceful conclusion that her constant kidnappings, and political and violent conflicts with the Koopas, was the universe’s way of breathing; completely normal and necessary. Through the many years of her beloved reign, she had taught herself how to remain at peace during each time of supposed crisis. She used to flinch and panic at any unexpected sound, and went everywhere with an army of valiant Toad guards. Now, she strolls alone through the lanes and fields of the kingdom, eyes wandering with a gaze of awe, breath steady, and hair and crown prominent like a beacon of her identity. Now and again she would still cringe at the thought of her past experiences with the Koopas, and the time she spent praying pleadingly to be saved by the kingdom’s humble hero Mario.
Kicking her heels against the loose soil of the village surrounding her castle, the princess reminisced while Toad children laughed and cawed in their play. Shops displayed wide and extravagant arrays of items and goods to be purchased and the residents presented adoring smiles and comforting waves to their ruler. She came to a standstill in the middle of the bazaar and closed her eyes, inhaling deeply not just the smells, but the sounds, the aura, and the warmth of the lane. Her most trusted advisor Toadsworth casually walked up to her and joined her absorption.
Observing the scenery, Toadsworth joined the bustling white noise of the lane with his gruff yet gentle voice. “Your majesty, per your request, I’ve come to inform you Master Shyguy’s project is complete.” He lowered his head; the back of his bulbous cap presented to the princess.
She opened her eyes, her head stiff, and gazing in the same direction it had been before shutting her eyes. She brushed her fingers against Toadsworth’s cap and he lifted his head up. She hummed a sound of understanding, then walked away. The old Toad quietly watched her leave, then began the patient shuffle back to the castle.
Her hands hung heavily by her sides, gently swaying with the rhythm of her gait. She pressed on towards the end of the lane, approaching the large forest surrounding the kingdom. Fields of short and soft grass painted every spot where house, shop, or dirt did not. Just southwest of the end of the lane was a subtle parting of trees, with trampled dirt and grass that defined a path. Her head tilted forward, just slightly facing the ground as she dragged her feet through the grass towards the path.
Down the path, through the clearing, stood a quaint cottage nestled in the trees. A weathered wooden sign posted expertly above the front door with the chiseled name “Mario” silently greeted the princess.
She knocked, and turned back to look at the forest around her glitter in the noon sunlight. The sweet creak of a door opening prompted her to turn around and delight in the joy of seeing her longtime friend Luigi. Her smile stupefied the man clad in green.
           “Luigi!” she chimed.
“Hello!” Luigi sung as he stepped aside, offering her entrance into his home. She gracefully stepped through the doorway and examined the familiar household. The inside was bare and always had been. Only a few chairs and a table occupied the main living space. Stairs against the backwall lead up to a loft where the Mario brothers slept. Through the living space was a kitchen and through that, a bathroom. The brothers spent their days relaxing, filling the room with what few things they felt they had to say, and enjoying the company of guests like the princess.
Luigi sat himself in his green arm chair and watched as the princess stepped around the room. She looked through the windows and glanced up the stairs to the loft, soaking in the tranquil silence that permeated the house. When her mind came to match the mood, she looked towards Luigi.
“Where’s Mario?” she asked with the usual flutter in her voice. Luigi scratched his head.
“I don’t know. He was gone when I woke up this morning. I thought maybe he went to see you.”
“I haven’t seen him all day. Perhaps he went to go see Toad or Yoshi.” Peach shrugged. “Did you see if he left a note?”
“I didn’t.” Luigi stood from his chair. “Come on, let’s a-go check.” They made their way up the stairs to where two neatly made-up beds were side-by-side. The nightstand between the beds offered nothing but a smooth surface; no note. They vainly turned their heads to look about the rest of the loft but no other piece of furniture or room was up there, leaving no obvious place for a note. The princess inspected the nightstand closer, opening its one drawer and looking between it, the beds, and the wall.
“Princess I would not worry. My brother can certainly take care of himself.” Luigi stated. Peach continued to search, bending down to her knees to bring her closer to the floor. She slid her hands along the floor, just under each of the beds to see if something had fallen under either of them and her hand touched something soft. She felt it, then pulled it out. It was a red hat with a capital M embroidered in white thread on the front. She stood up, clutching and staring at the hat.
“That’s his hat.” Luigi said. “He must-a forgot it.”
Peach was still staring. “I’ve never heard, let alone seen of a time Mario has forgotten his hat.” she said. They both stood quietly, and they were both holding their breath.
Something caught both their eyes; a piece of folded paper cascaded down to the floor. The princess bent back down and grabbed the paper.
“Must’ve been tucked in the brim of his hat.” Luigi stated. His curiosity drove his voice for he never knew Mario kept any such thing in his hat. Peach was unfolding it while Luigi speculated the paper. Perhaps a picture, a shopping list, maybe even poetry or some sort of love letter.
A gasp from Peach. All the air seemed to evacuate the house the instant she took that small breath.
“What?” exclaimed Luigi. He stepped closer, to look over her shoulder at the piece of paper. The ferocious, unmistakable insignia: Bowser. The peace of the kingdom and home of the Mario brothers was enshrouded in the bellowing, far-away laughter of the King Koopa.

This is a crack fic I wrote the previous night under the influence of alcohol and also under the influence of my terrible friends who kept giving me awful suggestions. There was a rule that I could not delete anything apart from the word I was currently typing.
I am begging you not to take this seriously.
This is the third out of three.
It’s a Ma.rio/TBoL Au somehow
Mario is Manolo, Peach is María, Bower is Joaquín, Wario is Xibalba, Donkey Kong is La Muerte, Luigi is the Candlemaker, Toadworth is Posada, Waluigi is Carlos, Daisy is Carmen, Live Action Bowser is Chakal
SO FUCKIN once upon a time two gods of death? I think were hanging out in the graveyard their names were Wario and Donkey Kong. They’re in the graveyard and talking about a bet. And then they decide they’re gonn place their wager on some kids and who this girl is gonna marry even though she could potentioallly marry someone compeltely unrelated to whatever they’re wagering, whatever. SO anyway. Wario bets on Bowser to marry Peach. And Donkey Kong bets on Mario. Yay.
So um I think Peach lets out a bunch of YOSHIs into the streets and causes a fucking MESSS um Bowser and Mario both fight a big yoshi and manage to beat it yay. But then Peach is getting shipped off to spain because ?? manners.
Boys r sad.
SO GROWING UP montage I think with Mario learning to fight CHOMP CHOMPS and Bowser just learning to fight in general. There’s music.
ANYWYA we get to the first chomp chomp fight for Mario UM Peach ish ome again yes and Bowser for some reason gets to show off before the fight riding on a horse??? or uuuuuh idk what could replace a horse. So everyone’s swooning. The entire stadium is gay. So then Mario comes out with his cape he’s gonna fight the chomp chomp. Manages to write some romantic letter for Peach in there I guess?? however that works, animation cheats. So he doesn’t write Peach’s name in the sand he draws a peach emoji which kinda looks like a butt?
But then Peach swoons anwyay jsut cause. SO THEN Mario’s supposed to stab the fuckin chomp chomp but he doesn’t cause that’d be awful, KILLIN THE CHOMP CHOMPS IS WRONG. WAAAAAH Waluigi cries in despiration.
Crowd bows. Mario gets knocked out by guitar.
Wakes up and his dad, Waluigi is shaming him WAAAH, along with his grandmother, Rosalina. Rosalina calls him a bitch.
SO THEN he sings I’m a Creep by Radiohead and Peach is swooning even more, thinks that’s hat.
OKAY SO WE cut to a dinner at um Toadsworth’s house and um Bowswer is trying to flirt with Peach but he’s sound a little sexist. Peach tells him to piss off and she’s going to feed her ........ birdo cause she’s better company than this.
So Bowser knows he fucked up and Mario starts serenading Peach with a guitar song. AND IT”S REALLY HAT LIKE SUPER HAT OH M YGOOOOOD.
But she don’t kiss him cause meh it’s funnier ot push him like ten feet onto the ground and watch him get crushed by his bandmates. Mario loses a life.
SO then Peach goes downstairs and is going to give Mario his guitar back but Bowser has a sonic ring out CHAOS EMERALD IN IT, ITS” FANCY so then Peach is like oh fuck I don’t wanna fucking commit already I just got home. SO THEN mario stumbles in and he’s like ??? drunk or slightly concussed, and leans on Bowser it’s kinda gay.
Mario gets stabbed loses another life.
So then they argue about who’s better for Peach but BANDITS OH MY GOD IT”S THE  GOOOMBITOS THEY’RE COMING. So they go out to fight them but then Bowser shows up out of nowher with some sick kick flips and beats their asses and has some medal of immortality. THE GOOMBAS NOTICE. They flees.
The towsns people think they’re saved and Bowser is a hero. And Peach goes to talk to him because uuuh marriage for the tower??? but also they used to be friends so you might as awell. Toadsworth wants the bowswer D.
So Mario’s moping cause he fucked up he didn’t  win Peach over. He gets hit in a head with a pinapple. Rosalina chucks a pinapples at waluigi. CARLOS.
So Rosalina gives Mario the GOOD advice. Sad wah in the background
Bowser takes Peach home actually sincere for once and Peach thinks he’s cute. Mario calls Peach out to the fuckin uh fuck where?? MEET ME BY THE BRIDGE AT DAWN. Peach be like damn that freaky but okay.
Bandit cave scene.
So then Wario’s stressing out cause he’s gonna lose the bet so he sends his snake??? uh thing to kill Mario.
So then there’s a romantic scene on the island with candles and shit. But then the snake shows up and tires to bite Mario but ends up biting Peach instead. So she passes the fuck out. MMMM WATCHA SAY.
So Mario’s fucking devestated carries her comatose corpse DID ANYONE CHECK FOR A PULSE? Bowser is pissed about this I guess. Mario feels like shit even more.
So he wanders back to get his guitar but rain + depression + death god saying you can be reunited with your loved ones makes it sound pretty tempting. So he lets the snake bite him twice yay he fucking dies.
G AME OVER BITCH
OKAY SO he wakes up as a skeleton and gets taken through land of the remembered. I guess Daisy is his mom? So he meets his mom and talks about how he needs to find Peach who should be dead but you know she’s not.
SO they go to the castle which doesn’t look much like a castle but I can’t judge either way. And Mario’s like yo uh Donkey Kong can you help me find Peach but then it’s. . . WARIO!
WAAARIO
so then everyone’s like oh my gosh no and Wario reveals the bet that um Bowser was going to marry Peach so Peach isn’t actually dead shes’ fine uh Bowser smooched her forhead and she’s fine.
So Mario cusses Wario out and Wario flicks him acros sthe room. And the YEETS OUT through the roof.
So then Mario and his family who I didn’t establish just Daisy decide to go to the CAVE OF SOUUUUUUUUUULS so they can find Donkey Kong.
It’s some long journey they climb a statue uh idk what it looks like they get to the top and there’s MAZE with uh death balls YES and the moon from majora’s mask is chasing him. BUT he manages to best it and the skull face door is like YOU’RE HAT COME ON IN.
So they go into the cave of souls. SO LUIGI shows up talking to them and a puddle. And then they all go into the cave of souls full of candles is very pretty. And there’s the Book of Life TITLE DROP AHA and mentions that apparently Mario’s pages are blank case ?? special. fuck you he’s mario.
SO Luigi helps them get to the land of the forgotten.
MEANWHILE I FORGOT UH Peach agreed to marry Bowser to protect the town and uh Chakal is coming anyway fuck no Chakal um giant goomba. LYOU’RE FIGHT FUCK it’s live action bowswer I forgot.
SO in the land of the forgotten they find Donkey Kong who flips the FUCK out when he finds out his husband cheated he’s throwing barrels and shit.
Wario shows up with wine cause he thought htis was adate for HEYAH HE THOUGHT HE WAS GONNA FUCK HIS HUSBAND.
So they argue about this shit bet that was kinda wobbly from the start tbh?? And then Wario agrees to give Mario his life back if he passes a test cause Mario challenges him like a dumb shit.
SO THEN um we have to cut to live action bowser raiding the town and wait so Peach is in the church with Bowser they’re gonna get married but then BOOM I guess osomeone launched a bomb? kind of a warning if they’re gonna raid a town. Is that how Carlos died he just get blown up idk.
it’s a cold and it’s a borken waluigi.
OKAY ANYWAY so Mario’s fighting a bunch of bone chomps chomps ZOMBIE CHOMPS and um then um his dad Waluigi shows up and it’s like bruh you’re dead??????
So MARIO fights this giant bone chomp chomp. and then serenades it with uh despacito. CHOMP CHOMP I AM SORRY. This is sosad.
ANYway so um Mario passes the test and gets sent back to the land of the living while some fight is going on, uh Bowser’s getting his ass kicked by live action bowser. BOWSER FIGHT.
So yeah Mario shows up and smooches Peach YAY and then the rest of his family shows up they’re going to fight the goombas. FIGHT SCENE!!
Mario and Bowser almost kiss.
Peach is getting taken up the tower  by live action bowser. So Mario’s gonna go after her and Bowser has to find the medal of immortality. So then they combat dancing they have combat dancing on the roof so then Mario punches live action bowser off the roof, and then UH SOME BOMB DROPED AND THE TOWER IS COLLAPSING. THE A BOMB they all died.
no.
SO Mario and Bowser pin live action poswer to the the wall under htis bell right??? okay so they do that and then MarioOOO pushes Bowswer SO LONG GAY BOWSWER
BOOM
Mario??? fuckin dead? bombomb went off. But Mario emerges alive covered in live action Bowswers bloody chunks.
But he’s alive yay
SO wedding scene some more music and everyone’s happy or some shit
the end

SUPER SMASH BROS UNIVERSE Part 1, Chapter 3: Jungle Hair
AT THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM HOT SPRINGS…
At the brink where Peach’s Castle meets the Kongo Jungle, Yoshi and his Luma stand; they’re looking at the steaming hot spring that Bowser created. The Koopa King’s airship still flies above the castle. Yoshi can hear a rumbling from behind the castle doors. He can’t get too close or someone will hear him for sure. He circles around the rampart to find someplace more concealing. He sees the rest of the Mushroom Kingdom is flooded. This has to be because of the earthquake! It looks like Yoshi’s Island isn’t the only thing damaged by the shift. As Yoshi peers into the castle he can hear Bowser complaining and throwing things.
“The whole Mushroom Kingdom is flooded and Mario is nowhere to be found!” Bowser screams. “This plan was useless!”
Yoshi and Luma are relieved to hear that Mario and the others aren’t caught up in this mess. But where could they have gone? The Kongo Jungle? Or maybe his own island? He isn’t sure if either of those places are safe to be in! Yoshi tells the Luma to tell Rosalina what they saw. Luma concentrates and sends a message to one of Rosalina’s Lumas, they should hear back any second now. Yoshi’s Luma explains that Rosalina wants them to come to the Space Observatory immediately. The Luma turns into a super launch star and catapults Yoshi to the Space Observatory.
AT THE SPACE OBSERVATORY…
Yoshi crashes into the Observatory roof! It is a small building; Rosalina’s Office, which is about half the size of Peach’s Castle. It has one long pointed roof, painted blue in resemblance to Rosalina’s dress. Surrounding the office is a circular courtyard where the rest of the Lumas can relax. There are a few buildings underneath the Observatory that act as living quarters for visitors.
“He does get a lota height when he jumps!” Mario adds.
The Mario brothers climb onto the roof and bring Yoshi down to the ground where his Luma is there to meet him. They bring the basketball star/dinosaur and his friend to Rosalina’s office. As they navigate around the observatory, Yoshi sees toads, goombas, and other koopas wandering about. He assumes that what was left of the Mushroom Kingdom must be living here. In Rosalina’s office, there is cylinder which acts as the power source and a large computer on the far wall.
“Welcome Yoshi, it’s good to see that you’re okay,” Rosalina greets and turns around to face the map. “Because the rest of the world isn’t.”
“It seems that we have lost most of the world. Not cause of that earthquake.” Mario explains. “There’s something more at stake.”
“This is the map of the world,” Rosalina starts to zoom in on aspects of the map. “This is the Mushroom Kingdom,” not too far from it Rosalina points at “the Kongo Jungle. They are right on top of each other. And Yoshi’s Island, is smashed into this other continent.”
Yoshi coos at Mario. He makes other noises that only Mario can really decipher. “I think Yoshi is saying he lost someone,” Yoshi coos again. “Or maybe everyone!”
“That’s uh- Sarasaland right?” Luigi points to the desert land to the west of the Kongo Jungle.
           “I believe so,” Rosalina answers.
“S-so Daisy might be alive? She might still be here?” Luigi stammers.
“It’s possible! However, I haven’t heard anything from her Luma.”
“I say, w-we go find out for ourselves!” Luigi is hesitantly confident.
“I say you’re right,” Rosalina agrees.
“Ooh, I was hoping you wouldn’t say that,” Luigi whimpers.
“You, Yoshi, and I will go down there are try to scope everything out, alright Luigi?” Mario questions his brother.
           “Alright,” Luigi gives in.
“I think if you are down there we can get a better look at what happened during the shift. I’ll send you to the Kongo Jungle, that way you can try and find Peach,” Rosalina instructs.
           “Sounds good!” Mario cheers.
“And give this Luma to Donkey Kong, it is time we are all on the same page.”
“Hey boss!” Captain Toad comes from the outer courtyard area. With him is Toadette. “If you thought we were gonna let you go on an adventure without us-“
           “Never!” Mario cheers.
“Well it looks like you’ll have some more company,” Rosalina is pleased.
           “Let’s go!” Toadette cheers.
Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi get their Lumas and meet near the landing dock of the Space Observatory. Captain Toad and Toadette run up to Mario with various nap sacks of supplies. Rosalina wishes them goodbye as jump off the dock and the Lumas carry them towards the Kongo Jungle. They look at the crowd of toads, goombas, and koopas as they give them good luck. The Space Observatory slowly gets smaller and smaller as they travel closer to the earth.
IN THE KONGO JUNGLE…
Peach wakes up sweating. Her body sticks to the skirt she is wearing. As she wipes her forehead she feels her frizzy hair up in different directions. Peach looks around the treehouse and she is alone, perfect. It is nothing but her and the creaking of wood. Well, and the bugs that live in the leaves that act as bed sheets. Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong found the rest of Peach’s luggage with the other carriages: the luggage with her other clothes. She changes into something more comfortable and heads outside. While inspecting the other carriages, Diddy and Dixie didn’t find the rest of Peach’s council. Although this worries her, she is glad to see Toadsworth getting accustomed to a different way of living. Peach steps out of the treehouse to see Toadsworth eating bananas with Donkey Kong.
Diddy and Dixie surf through the trees to the camp, they have something to show everyone. DK runs towards them, Peach looks at Toadsworth, what could it be? After the Kongs coo at each other, Diddy and Dixie jump back into the jungle. DK picks of Peach and Toadsworth again. Peach laughs at Toadsworth cringing. They glide through the trees until they meet the two other Kongs.
There’s a whole swarm of kritters, King K. Rool’s minions! They guard a cage that binds Toadstern, The Chancellor, and Toad Minister. They stay silent in the trees, not moving an inch, but examining everything with their eyes. Peach and Toadsworth watch in amazement, then, start to focus. The horde of kritter’s are led by little Kremlings called Kip and Kass. After the Kongs memorized the camp, they silently leave the vicinity.
“We have to save them DK!” Peach protests. He hears her, but continues on his path to the treehouse. Donkey Kong enters the tree house and rumbles through some things. CLANK! There is a crash. DK comes out of the tree house with a barrel blaster and two peanut guns. Diddy gets giddy and runs to snatch his favorite toys. DK then pulls out a brush. Dixie complains, but DK makes her brush her hair. Peach and Toadsworth watch as Dixie takes her hat off and pulls the hair tie out. WHOOP! Dixie’s blonde mane turns into a large blonde afro so fast that it scares Toadsworth.
Diddy Kong is at the top of the treehouse with a blue egg in his hand. Diddy throws the egg high up in the air, it falls back in his arms. Diddy looks around, nothing. He tries it again, this time an orange bird catches it! The bird, Kazooie catches the egg and lands in front of Peach and Dixie. Slowly following the bird is Banjo the bear! The Kongs clap! Banjo-Kazooie goes over to DK to discuss the plan.
Dixie grabs Peach’s frizzy hair and puts some butter in it. Dixie manages to pat down all of the frizz in her hair. Dixie then ties it into a nice braid. DK and Diddy are fascinated, so they grab some of the gel and butter for themselves. They start to shape their body hair into different patterns; Diddy is fond of the triangles he draws on his leg. While, DK drew an entire jungle landscape on his back.
After that little bit of fun, everyone is ready to go to the kritter camp and save the others.
IN THE KONGO JUNGLE…
Captain Toad leads the group throughout the jungle; he holds his compass out. Toadette stays on top of Luigi’s head to look out for potential danger, for she has the sharpest eyes in all of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Lumas roam around them to record data for Rosalina’s virtual map. They scribble on a paper map the routes of the jungle. As the gang tumbles through the jungle, Rosalina is watching with a close eye from the Space Observatory. She can track all of the Lumas from her computer.
Yoshi stops abruptly, Mario and Captain Toad react by stopping too. Luigi does but only after he stumbles over himself. Yoshi smells something, his nose flares and rises in the air. WOOSH! Yoshi starts flying toward the scent. The others follow to try and catch Yoshi. They watch as Yoshi disappears within the rest of the green. Toad and the Lumas can’t keep up with Mario and Luigi. A large branch pokes out of the ground and trips Luigi, smashing Toadette into the ground. Mario avoids the large obstacles and finds Yoshi, who is looking at a pile of fruit in the middle of a clearing.
“Yoshi, we gotta go!” Mario protests.
In the clearing there are large huts, kritters come out of them and look around; they must’ve heard Mario. He pulls Yoshi away from the camp. But the shifting makes another distinct noise. The kritters lunge towards their direction while Mario and Yoshi run back to the others.
As Mario and Yoshi run away they hear the kritters getting closer and closer. Yoshi tumbles on a root and knocks Mario down with him. The kritters are right on top of the two with their mouth’s open to strike, BAM! Captain Toad hits one of the kritters with a hammer. The three other kritters in the chase slow down and get in a defense position. Luigi throws fire balls at the other two and Toadette throws stones. The lumas body slam the one kritter still conscious and save Mario and Yoshi.
“That isn’t happening ever again!” Luigi says as he helps Yoshi and Mario up. “We need to focus on finding the prin –er, I mean Queen”
“Don’t look at me it was him!” Mario blames Yoshi who grins sweetly, as if it would account for the trouble he caused. They continue on their journey and hope that they don’t run into any other creepy kritters.
LATER AT THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM HOT SPRINGS…
Bowser is redecorating the old Peach’s Castle. Well, the koopalings are redecorating the place as Bowser rests. He is adamant that the koopalings get everything together because other Koopa families are going to be living with them. Wendy is in charge of taking down the wedding decorations because Bowser hates looking at them. Larry and Iggy are in charge of making boats so people can travel outside of the castle. Morton and Roy need to clean up the debris from the flood. Ludwig is in charge of crafting a new telescope so he can see if visitors are climbing the wall. Bowser keeps Lemmy for entertainment, and Bowser Jr. has to change the flags.
None of the koopas besides Lemmy are interested in doing what they are told. Wendy ends up crying because she hasn’t been able to find a koopa who loves her. Larry and Iggy make wooden swords out of the material they were supposed to use for the row boats. Morton and Roy find the food stash. Ludwig finishes the telescope, but returns to work on his teleportation device. As Bowser Jr. starts putting up the flags, he has an idea. He goes to find Larry and Iggy then brings them to the roof. There they use the Mushroom Kingdom flags as a blanket to slide down the roof and into the water. As Larry and Iggy slide, three, four, and five times, Bowser Jr. gets the others to join them. Soon enough, Wendy, Morton, and even Ludwig are sliding down the roof and splashing into the water.
“You should really be doing what Bowser says or he will be angry with you,” Kamek screeches to the koopas.
“Buzz off!” Iggy says and continues to slide down the roof.
Kamek runs off to Bowser in the great hall, he hopes that the Koopa King will do something about the children’s terrible behavior. However, Bowser seems too occupied with Lemmy at the moment.
“Do it again! Do it again!” Bowser cheers Lemmy on, who is bouncing on a ball and doing back flips off it. Lemmy starts to jump on the ball, he is getting high into the air and then starts to flip.
“King Bowser,” Kamek starts.
“Not now Kamek, can’t you see I’m spending time with my son!”
“But Bowser!”
“Not now!” Bowser goes back to cheering on Lemmy who just did two backflips off of the ball.
AT KIP AND KASS’ KRITTER KAMP…
Right outside the kritter camp, DK, Diddy, Dixie, Peach, Banjo-Kazooie, and Toadsworth are watching. They devise a plan to grab the keys and release the toad council from their cell. DK expects there to be some fighting and is confident that they will win.
Toadsworth is small and maneuvers through the shrubs without being detected. He makes his way to the part that is closest to Kip and Kass’ tent. Toadsworth looks around and doesn’t see any kritters paying attention. He then looks over to see Peach giving him a thumbs up. Toadsworth rushes over and rolls into the tent. Commotion erupts immediately; growls and banging are heard within the tent, drawing kritters over to it. Dixie has already made her way to that end of the camp and sneaks behind Kip and Kass’ tent.
In the tent, Toadsworth is wrestling with Kip, and losing. He jabs the two kritters with a scepter and manages to grab the key off of Kip’s hip. Toadsworth struggles, but then breaks free for a moment and rolls over to the backside of the tent. He slides the key under the tent and watches as Dixie snags it. Then Donkey Kong arrives to knock out the kritters that are hounding Toadsworth. Kip and Kass tell the kritters to leave DK to them.
Dixie approaches the jail cell and it’s guarded by two kritters. Peach and Diddy appear from the bushes and knock both kritters out. The kritters start to charge toward the cell. Diddy and Dixie lunge at the crowd to fight them off. Peach unlocks the cell and frees the council. Kritters start to attack Peach. She manages to slap away a few of the kritters but they are too tough for her. A kritter cuts Peach in the face but is then hit by a blue egg.
Suddenly, out of the sky more blue eggs come crashing down on the kritters. The blue eggs are coming from Banjo-Kazooie. As they land on the kritter camp they knock out the kritters near Peach and lead her and the council to safety. Banjo-Kazooie help the Kongs beat the rest of the kremlings. DK lets Kip and Kass run back to their boss. A bloody and bruised Toadsworth stumbles out of the tent; the council run from the bushes to his aid. Now that they rescued the council, everyone heads back to the treehouse before any kremlings come back.
At the treehouse, everyone celebrates their victory. Banjo-Kazooie and the Kongs talk about how small the jungle is. Diddy tells them about the mysterious earthquake that changed the world. Peach thanks them for saving her. The Kongs and Banjo-Kazooie continue to reminisce about the old days while Peach brings the council to the treehouse.
“Peach, we have to get back to the Mushroom Kingdom, we cannot live with these beasts forever,” Toad Minister says.
“Those ‘beasts’ just saved you,” Toadsworth snaps. Peach is glad to see Toadsworth lightening up.
“You can’t be okay with this too Toadsworth?” Toad Minister asks.
“I am not, but we don’t have any other option.”
“Maybe we can have Diddy and Dixie walk us back to the castle,” Peach suggests.
           “And then what?” Toadstern asks.
“While the rest of the Kingdom is surrounded by water?” Toad Minister adds.
“Maybe Rosalina can keep us in the Space Observatory?” Peach is throwing any solution she can.
“How are we supposed to govern a kingdom from space?” Toad Minister questions.
“What Kingdom?” Peach quiets the room. “What Kingdom is left for us to govern?”
“The one you fought for today,” Toadsworth comments. “Despite everything you’ve lost and all the things that have changed, you are still fighting for the Mushroom Kingdom.”
“We are staying in this treehouse until we can make a decision,” Peach says. “And if no one can agree, then we are doing what I say!”
There is a knock from the entrance, someone stands behind the curtain-door. A white glove draws back the curtain and there stands Mario. Peach rushes towards him; arms open. THUD! She rushes at him so hard that they fall from the treehouse.
“Sorry Mario,” Peach laughs. “I’m just glad to see you.”
“It’s alright Peach,” Mario smiles. Yoshi had smelled the bananas from miles away, that is what brought them there. Captain Toad protested the plan, but Yoshi had a feeling that the bananas meant the Kongs were nearby.
“What happened to ya prin –Peach?” Mario asks, looking at her scars and bruises.
“We rescued Toad Minister and the others from a horde of Kremlings!” she explains.
           “You what?”
“With the help of the Kongs, of course. And Banjo and Kazooie. For once I had the exciting adventure.”
           “Yes, Peach, yes you did.”

For the Love of the Game
Hey, guys! I haven’t been writing any fics as of late because of school and because my creative streak right now is Awful, but somehow an idea came to me after watching SirEnobMort’s playthrough of “Mario Super Sluggers” on the KoopaKungFu channel on YouTube, particularly the ending cutscenes of the challenge mode and what might have possibly gone on between those two scenes. Really, I just wanted to put a little more depth into them. Enjoy!
For 8 and a half straight innings, Mario and Bowser's respective baseball teams were at each other's throats. The score was still 0-0 at the aforementioned Koopa King's home turf (literally; his castle was currently housing a temporary baseball field next to a lava dam). Athletes from both sides were sweating bullets, probably enough altogether to outweigh even the heaviest of King Bills. Batters ran through pitchers practically every other hit, and because of that, the fielding lineup never started (or ended) with everyone in the same position twice in a row. By the time the top of the 9th ended, Mario and Bowser were running out of strategies, instead just going back to their respective lineups from the beginning of the game. Everything lead right up to this moment as Mario took his place in the batter's box to face Bowser, captain against captain, enemy against enemy. There were two outs, with the bases loaded, and to raise the stakes even higher, Bowser was at a full count of 3 balls and 2 strikes. How Bowser ever ended up being on the "away" side on his own field was beyond his knowledge; wonky coin toss, perhaps? Either way, if they scored at least one run, they would win, and the giant complex that was the Baseball Kingdom would be out of the Koopa King's control for sure. He wiped some sweat off his forehead. Who would have guessed that baseball was so much pressure? All he and his friends wanted to do was hit the diamond and have a little fun! Determined to win, he made an impulsive move, in true Mario fashion: he eyed the huge statue of Bowser jutting out from the lava dam in center field, and pointed just above it it with his bat. Yes, he was calling his own shot. Mario could hear his teammates draw a collective gasp. Why not? he thought to himself. He read about someone else doing it once, a man called Babe Ruth (That couldn't have been his actual name, right?) and it worked for him! He eyed Bowser, who sneered and wound up. Mario braced himself for a fastball, and... *Crack* The second the bat made contact, he knew immediately that this was one of his best hits. He watched the ball fly high into the air, and sure enough, it flew towards the same direction as the statue at center field. It wasn't until a few seconds later that he heard a sizzling noise from the lava dam. He couldn't believe his ears; the ball actually sunk into the lava dam! And with that, the game was done. Mario's grand slam at the bottom of the 9th put his team in the winning position of 4-0, breaking the long, scoreless run against Bowser and his minions. Every teammate in the dugout met him at home plate, hoisting him up and tossing him into the air. Bowser, on the other hand, was so filled with rage that he smashed his bat into the ground. When that wasn't enough to grab the team's attention, he roared as loudly as his lungs could allow. Immediately, the crowd dropped their red-clad captain as they turned to Bowser, wondering what the fuss was about. "NO! I was really trying, and I still lost!" he exclaimed. Lifting up his bat, he continued his angry tirade. "But I'm not done yet, and I'm not giving up! I WILL beat you! I'll–" "Hold it, Bowser!" From among the crowd, Peach emerged and walked up to the raging king. "Baseball Kingdom is a place for EVERYONE to enjoy baseball," she said calmly. "Come on. A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, right?" That made him grow flustered. "N-No! Don't be ridiculous! Play with you chumps? I'd rather...I mean–" He was interrupted when Bowser Jr started whining. "Aw, Daaaad! I wanna play baseball! Let's all play together like she said!" The elder tried to shush him to avoid embarrassment. "But son, I–" Peach giggled. "I think the decision's been made!" She turned to her friends. "Come on, everyone!Let's celebrate! Let's throw a party for Baseball Kingdom, and all the memories we made here!" "One step ahead of you, Peach," Daisy said. "Let's all meet up at the Cruiser! There's more than enough space for everyone on board!" The crowd cheered, and all began making their way out of the stadium toward the ship, including Bowser's minions. The only stragglers left after the crowd died down were Bowser, Jr, Daisy, and Luigi, who was just about to leave when Daisy approached him. "Are you coming?" he asked. "I'll get there a little later," she replied. "It seems I have some convincing to do." "You're inviting them?! They're gonna burn you alive!" "Don't worry about me," she said. "You go catch up with the rest of them. I'll be there soon!" There was a hesitant look in his eyes, but he nodded slowly. "Okay. I'll tell them." "Thank you! Oh, and tell Peach to save a little bit of food for me, won't you?" She kissed him on the cheek and ran off in the koopas' direction. Luigi blushed. Typical Daisy, he thought as he exited the stadium. She's always so happy, it's contagious. I wonder if it'll rub off on those two... *** "Why can't we go with them?" Jr sulked. "It looks like fun!" "He's not wrong, Bowser," a voice rang from by the stadium door. They turned their heads and found Daisy walking toward them. "I think a lot of people would appreciate it if you joined us. Besides, all your minions are at the Cruiser. Shouldn't someone be there to supervise them?" "They'll be fine," Bowser grumbled. "I can always hire more, anyway. These minions are useless." "Maybe that's why they left," reasoned the princess. "Since you're such a bad sport to them all the time, they must have gone off to find other captains who won't bully them so much. You don't see your son insulting his team, do you?" The king ignored her, instead continuing to address his son. "Jr, I think it's past your bedtime. You should be getting some sleep." "But I wanna go to the Cruiser," Jr objected. "If the rest of the team is there, why shouldn't I go?" "Well, I did invite everyone," Daisy said. "And I think he'd have a really nice time there. Look at your son, Bowser," she said as she knelt down to Jr's level. "Look at his poor little face. He looks so sad, and cranky and tired...maybe even a little hungry after such an exhausting game! All he wants to do is hang out with his team and have some nice food!" The little prince's eyes lit up. "There's food?" "Yes, there is. Every cook in the kitchen has whipped up a whole bunch of stuff for just about everyone there! But if you don't hurry now, then all the food will be gone!" She stood back up and looked at Bowser. "And I think I know someone else who can't say no to free food." With that, Daisy extended her hand. "Come on, Bowser," she said. "For the love of the game?" The Koopa King was puzzled as he looked at the outstretched princess's hand, the exact same hand that had once smacked him into oblivion. How could he trust someone who, compared to Mario, Peach, or anyone else, was practically a complete stranger? And yet there was something convincing about the way she stood unflinchingly in his presence, her large, wide-set eyes practically staring into his soul, her tiny arm reaching out to him. Even Jr was egging him on. "Come on, Dad! It's just like the pretty lady said! For the love of the game!" Well, if his son was okay with it...then who was he to refuse such an offer? He shook her hand and let a tiny smile make its way across his face. "For the love of the game." She beamed. "Wonderful! Let's go!" *** Before long, they had reached the top floor of the Cruiser, where everyone was outside, crowded around various tables and watching a fireworks show. Bowser and his son eventually found a place to sit down and have some food, even though there wasn't much left. Even so, he didn't mind having the smallest slice of cake while his son had a slightly larger sherbet bowl. In the meantime, Daisy was happily chatting away with Yoshi, Peach, Luigi, and Toad as they munched on some other leftovers and watched the fireworks. "I don't know how you did it," Toad said. "I would have been shaking in my boots the whole time!" Yoshi shuddered in agreement. "Well, I wouldn't want them to be lonely, would I?" she answered. "Especially poor little Jr. And Bowser will do just about anything to make his son happy." "How did you get Bowser on board?" Luigi asked. "I kinda figured that, really deep down, there was a little part of him that just wanted to join in on the fun with us! No serious competition about it; just letting loose and hitting the diamond while we try to push alliances aside, even if it's only for a short time." "Even if he still has fleeting thoughts about taking over the Mushroom Kingdom from time to time?" Peach inquired. "As long as his mind is distracted from those things, even for a little while, then we're okay." "Well, it lets me breathe a little easier, and Mario and Luigi, too, I'm sure." Peach turned to Luigi. “Where is your brother, by the way?" "He and Donkey Kong are running the fireworks show in the next stadium over," he replied. "He has jokingly referred to it as a 'Home Run Derby' of sorts." "Well, shouldn't we go down and watch them hit some homers?" Toad suggested. Yoshi nodded in agreement. Daisy smiled. "Why not? Let's go!" The friends ran for the exit of the Cruiser, hoping to catch a glimpse of the "Home Run Derby".

**In this post, I talk about the game Super Mario World.  Although I feel the Mario story of Mario saves Princess Peach is quite common, there maybe things I mention that are considered spoilers to others.**
In this game, Bowser has taken over Dinosaur Land and kidnapped Princess Peach. and it’s up to Mario, Luigi and their new friend Yoshi to save the Princess from Bowser and his Koopalings.
I missed out of this game when I was a kid.  The Super Nintendo had just came out and I couldn’t convince my parents to buy one since it’s was too expensive for the time.  The original price of the console was $200 in 1990, which, adjusted for inflation, by 2018 is pretty much double that price.  So I decided to go with the Sega Genesis instead.  Like some other gamers of the 1990’s, I got swept up in the console wars and went to Sega after playing Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, and Kid Chameleon.  Genesis does what Nintendon’t, I believed.  I didn’t own a Nintendo system until the Gamecube came out in November 2001.  Looking back, I felt kind of foolish about getting swept up in fanboyism.  I missed out on a lot of great games for all systems.
I was a sucker for that Blast Processing
I’ve been playing this game on the SNES Classic.  Super Mario World has been released originally on the Super Nintendo and ported on several different consoles like the Wii, Wii U, New Nintendo 3DS, and a ported, sort of remade for the Game Boy Advance under the Super Mario Advance Series.  I’ve been using the rewind feature and save states a lot.  You are able to save, but only after you have taken down a castle or find a new exit to the level.  The controls and jumping in the game aren’t bad, but I find myself rocking the D-Pad left and right when I make a jump to land on a platform.  Even on longer platforms or solid ground I still find myself doing this.  Mario just feels like he is slipping around a lot in the game and controls like Luigi. By that, I mean how Luigi has a faster sprint and higher jump, but takes a longer time to stop. Not sure if I’m just experiencing lag with the system, but I do feel a slight delay in Mario’s controls.  Mario also has a spin jump, but I only seem to find myself using this to break bricks when I’m Super Mario to get below to another area.
What I seem to have problems with the controls, at least I can say that this game is still fun.  The sprites, backgrounds and enemies all look great.  The music is great and catchy and sets the mood for each level.  Whether it’s the haunting sound of the ghost house, or the cheerfulness of the over worlds, Koji Kondo, the composer did a great job.  I keep wanting to go back to it and beat a level that I was having a problem with.   Not, I want to rage quit and not play again.  Well, that is until I got to the World 9 Special Zone.  You get here after you find the secret exits in World 8 Star Road.  I did get past the first three levels of 90’s saying (tubular and Gnarly sounds really dated to me), the rest are just rather difficult for me with the controls.  While the levels are a challenge, the mini bosses and bosses are rather easy for me.
Tumblr media
Dinosaur Land Overworld minus Star and Special road
The overworld has a nice layout.  It’s the layout of you can’t progress until you defeat a level and goes kind of non linear unless you find another way out from a level.  This is indicated by a red dot on the level.  It gives a good amount of replay as there are 96 different exits to find in the game.  I like the addition of Ghost Houses.  Primary filled with Boos and other types of “dead” enemies like Dry Bones, eeries, and boo buddies.  I like the challenge and the redirect of these levels to find hidden exits with the use of a P-block for example.
Some screen grabs of the battles with the various Bosses in the game.
The Koopalings all have different attacks than the shoot the magic wand and charge at you from Super Mario Bros 3.  But they are Mario platform boss standard; jump on them three times, or knock them off of the platform to defeat them.  Bowser is the Final Boss, and he is pretty difficult to defeat.  I need to say that I found this battle pretty intense, even today.  The lightning flashing in the back ground, Bowser flying around in the Koopa Clown Car with a seemingly endless cannonballs. It’s insanely spacious inside for the amount of cannonballs he throws at you.  I still can’t figure out how he filled so many cannonballs inside that thing unless he modded a TARDIS from Dr. Who or something to that extent.  The first use of mode 7 graphic as he charges the screen after a few hits was, and still is, awesome.  I also liked how the countdown timer is gone from the battle.  Almost giving you no excuse that you can run away saying the timer won’t let me beat this final boss.
A lot of Mario enemies made their debut here.  Some of my more notable enemies to first appear for me are Wiggers, a caterpillar like foe who turns red and angry when you stomp on Wigger’s head (minus the train whistle Wiggler has in later games).  Banzai Bills, a larger version of Bullet Bill, that seems to take up nearly half the screen whenever he is fired towards Mario.  Big Boo, a larger version of Boo and one of the mini bosses you face, but still retains the Boos trait of chasing you when you look away.  Chucks, the sports themed enemy who attacks you various ways, such as throwing baseballs/footballs at you, charging after you, and punting footballs at you.   Finally Magikoopas, Koopas that can cast spells and change objects into enemies.  What I found is that the Goomba’s were removed in favor of Glaoombas and Cheep Cheeps had a strange redesign that both came off as odd to me.
Tumblr media
Reznor, a triceratops mini boss in the game is named after Nine Inch Nails member Trent Reznor.  A very cool fact I think.
Mario has a couple of new powers.  Grabbing a feather, turns him into a Cape Mario. He can fly for a short time, then use his parachute to glide back down to safety.  It’s tricky to do at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a rather useful power up.  This game also introduced the power balloon.  It puffs up Mario like a balloon and can fly/float for a short time.  The biggest power-up or rather friend that Mario comes across is Yoshi.  I like you can switch power ups on the fly if you have one saved in your inventory, but a pain if you aren’t center to catch the power up and run the risk of losing it.  I prefer the Super Mario Bros 3 style and chose the power up before you enter a level.
Tumblr media
Mario and Yoshi at Yoshi’s House located at the beginning of the game
Yoshis are one of the main residents of Dinosaur Island. There are green dinosaur that Mario rides like a horse and adds a bongo drum to the soundtrack whenever Mario rides him.  They are eat practically every enemy you come across.  Yoshi can also eat berries scattered across the game.  Each berry can vary from type to type from power up to more time for your counter.  When Yoshi also eats a Koopa Shell, he can do three different attacks.  Eating a red shell, Yoshi spits out three fireballs, yellow allows him to do a ground pound, and blue makes Yoshi grow wings and fly temporary.  Primary, you have a green Yoshi’s throughout the game but later on in the game you can get three different colored baby Yoshi’s which have different powers depending on what color Yoshi you have.  The are babies until they eat 5 enemies.  The color of the Yoshi follows what shell color it parallels if the green Yoshi eats (Ex red Yoshi spits out three fireballs despite the shell color that it eats but still retains the other effects of the other color shells as well).  The only place Yoshi doesn’t enter are ghost houses and castles.  Overall, I feel Yoshi’s are one of the best way to experiment with gameplay and discover new ways to play and exit level.
Tumblr media
Mario gets Yoshi to eat the enemies by punching his head?!? Sounds very cruel
In terms of Mario games that I like, I think that Super Mario Bros 3 is better than this game, but I still enjoy Super Mario World.  Maybe it’s due to it being the easiest Mario game at the time until the New Super Mario Brother series.  When you take a hit in Super Mario Bros 3, if you have a power up like a Fire Flower, your revert to Super Mario.  In Super Mario World, if you are Cape Mario and get hit by an enemy, you revert to small Mario.  It was a level of difficulty that I wasn’t too fond off until I got older.  Although I wish Super Mario 3 had a save feature but that will be for another time.
If you have any good Super Mario facts, things I left out, or any fond memories that you had of Super Mario World, let me know in the comments and thank you for reading.

Hints
The Easy Way To Defeat Super Dimentio
At the beginning, SD is invincible, but still jump on his head. The pure hearts will appear and refill your HP, giving you an advantage. It will also drain SD’s power. Fight as Bowser with Slim, and jump on his head. To deal even more damage, use Thudley to deal a BUNCH of damage. Watch out for SD’s guns. Repeat the noggin-stomping process to beat SD, and win the game!
Beating Wracktail
To beat Wracktail, change to Luigi on Wracktail’s back. Grab a Wrackle (the enemies on Wracktail), and throw it at the antenna using Thoreau. When you start slipping, jump continuously as Luigi. Repeat the antenna attack 30 times to defeat Wracktail, receive Dashell, and move onto Flopside Pit of 100 trials.
The Rare Amazy Dayzee
There is a super-rare Amazy Dayzee in Chapter 5-2. It is at the place where the sign shows someone going underwater. (door all the way to the right in 2nd room) To see it, flip into 3D. You’ll see it, as it’s shimmering gold. I suggest being small, as it is VERY powerful and will flip and dash into the pit if it is attacked or spotted. If you capture it, it is worth A LOT of coins. If you defeat it, you may get a Gold Leaf. I think this may be the only Amazy Dayzee, but I’m not sure.
Creating The Dyllis Deluxe
You will need 3 ingredients to make the Dyllis Deluxe and you must be in Flopside. The ingredients you need are: Hamburger, Shroom Steak, and Power Steak. Ask the lady that cooks (on the 1st floor of Flopside) to mix together the Hamburger and the Power Steak. Once she’s done, she will give you the Gorgeous Steak which was made from your ingredients. Then, ask her to cook again and mix the Gorgeous Steak with the Shroom Steak. When she cooks it the outcome will be a Dyllis Deluxe. The Dyllis Deluxe fills 90 HP and cures poison. So use it wisely.
The 100th Fight In Sammer’s Kingdom
The end boss (round 100) is a large enemy. He had a point on his head so you can’t jump on him, and he has a bat-looking thing with spike’s all over it. He tries to hit you with that bat. He also can curl into a ball and roll over you. I suggest using the pixl Barry to defeat him. When you do manage to defeat him, you will go into the next door. When you start to go over the bridge, the king will give you your reward. The reward is a bunch of rare cards. The cards have the characters from ‘Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door’ on them. They are: Goombella Card, Koops Card, Madame Flurrie Card, Yoshi Card, Vivian Card, Admiral Bobbery Card, and Ms. Mowz Card.
How To Get To Shadoo
This will be a long and difficult task. You first need to beat Wracktail in Flipside’s Pit of 100 Trials. After you do that, there will be a Pit of 100 Trials in Flopside. The Pit of 100 Trials in Flopside is harder than Flipside because all of the enemies in there are “Dark. ” For example: Dark Goomba, Dark Koopa Troopa, etc. Once you successfully get to the 100th room, a voice will tell you to do it all over again, and then he will show his face once you’ve made it to the 100th floor once more. Once you finish the Pit of 100 Trials a second time, He will finally appear to fight you. He introduces himself as “Shadoo” and he is a “Dark” enemy.
How To Get Dashell
In Flipside, When you get to the 100th room on the Pit of 100 Trials, you will end up outside in a setting that is almost exactly like the setting when you battle Fracktail (boss). Move forward a little and Wracktail will appear. Wracktail is extremely difficult to beat. Make sure you have a lot of health before you battle him. Once you defeat him, he will turn into bones and fall apart. You’ll fall down to the ground and a big black box will appear. Open the box, and Dashell will talk to you and pretty much demand to be on your team. His ability makes you run faster.
Battling Shadoo
Once you’ve made it to the 100th floor in the Pit of 100 Trials in Flopside, Shadoo tells you that he’s finally done cloning your four heroes (Bowser, Mario, Luigi, and Peach). He will first show himself as a Dark Luigi. The Dark Luigi will follow you all the time and constantly jump up and down, making it difficult for you to hit him and making it easier for him to damage you. Once you manage to defeat Dark Luigi, a Dark Bowser appears right away. The Dark Bowser will breathe fire at you and try to jump on you. Avoid him when he’s breathing fir, but when he tries to jump on you, attack him. When Dark Bowser is defeated, a Dark Peach will then appear. The Dark Peach will try to jump on you and she can use her umbrella to float, giving her a longer time to do some damage to you. Don’t try hitting her if she is using her umbrella. Hitting her while she’s jumping is much easier. After Dark Peach, the last is Dark Mario. Dark Mario will also try to jump on you, and when he get’s close he will try to use his hammer. Once you defeat Dark Mario, Shadoo will be fully defeated. Once he disappears, 8 black boxes come up from the ground. In these boxes are the cards of all the Dark versions of the heroes and cards of all the regular heroes as well. Once you open all of the chests, the warp pipe will appear to bring you back to Flopside.
Piccolo Pixl Abilities
When used, the sound effects will become ‘classic Mario’ sounds. Also, when used in certain areas Piccolo will open blocks to reveal chests. Try it on 3rd floor, outside the gates in both Flipside and Flopside.
Barry
After Beating Chapter Four go back to the first level and talk to the person in the bush again. (The one that told you the instructions for reaching Francis’s castle) That person turns out to be a Pixl named Barry that joins your party after you talk to him. Barry can reflect flying objects thrown by enemies.
Run On Water!
If you get dottie to shrink you you can run on water (provided you don’t stop).

To find slim, go tothe base of the chapter. Jump onto the firstlevel, then switch to Peach to float from thatside to the other. Switch back to mario and flip, and you should see an arrow on the ground. Followthat arrow until you are past the barrier, thenflip back. You will see a treasure chest whichwill hold Slim. Then go back and up to the toplevel, where the same thing will happen. Therewill be an arrow and you need to flip. Beyond thebarrier, hit the block to create a ladder. Climbup that ladder to reach the electric fields.

While on the gerbil wheel, tape down the left or right movement button and allow the controller to idle for about ten minutes. You should get about 9,000 Rubies. Be careful and monitor it, as the Wii-mote will go to sleep. The code for the second VIP room past the electric fields is “41262816”. This will give you the 1,000,000,000 Rubies needed.

Super Mario Run (Mobile)
Tumblr media
youtube
Super Mario Run is the first official mobile game by Nintendo, despite everyone’s misconception of Pokemon Go having that honor.  The game was released last December, right in time for the holidays, when we all need mobile games the most.  If you’re anything like me and hate social situations, then you’re probably as liable as I am to find a lonely corner of the room, take out your smart phone, and smack your forehead against it in a desperate attempt to bodily dive into it in the hopes of escaping to another, more pleasant dimension.
Or maybe you just turn on a game.  I dunno.
Some of you might think, “Hey Craig, why not just take a 3DS into situations like that?”  First - have you seen the size of those things??  They’re not as mobile as Nintendo would like you to think they are.  Secondly, while I do enjoy playing the 3DS, I’m not 12-years-old, so I can’t quite get away with playing a 3DS in certain public situations without looking like a weirdo.  Finally, while I do have antisocial tendencies, playing a 3DS in social situations is on a level I’m no longer on.  Oh, don’t get me wrong, I used to be there - I did bring a Super NES to a party once when I was 13-years-old and played it by myself in a secluded bedroom.  So you’ll get no judgment from me on whatever level of the antisocial spectrum  you happen to be on.
I just know we could have used the game much sooner, like in time for Thanksgiving, especially after the results of the presidential election.  Nothing cuts short an uncomfortable conversation with a racist uncle like whipping out your cellphone, firing up a game, and having Mario’s cartoony voice shout “YAHOO!  LET’S A GO!”, emphatically interrupting your uncle’s diatribe on why Black Lives Matter is a terrorist organization.
“Hey, are you listenin’ to me or are you playin’ some damn game?” he’d ask.
“Yes,” you’d simply reply over the tinkling sounds of coins being collected and Goombas being squished.
“That’s the problem with your generation - always on your phones,” he’d sagely diagnose..
“Yes,” you reply, while the invincibility star music plays.  “Racist Conversation Shutdown” Achievement Unlocked!  Thanks for the assist, Mario!
Anyway, Super Mario Run is an “endless runner” except not really because it does have an end, which is Bowser’s castle where Princess Peach is being held prisoner!  Yup, he’s kidnapped her yet again (he just can’t give it up, if you know what I mean, and I think you do) and it’s up to the plucky plumber and his friends to save her! The game plays like a stripped down version of The New Super Mario Bros, with way less power-ups (there are only mushrooms and stars) and level designs that cater to the endless runner format.
The game isn’t much of a challenge.  Hell, my 2-year-old niece could probably get really far in it, although she’s preternaturally good at video games (I’ve watched her dominate touch-screen games in a way that is worthy of scientist study).  It helps when the only control is jump, which is relegated to the bottom of the screen.  I’m going to give the game props for this – it certainly beats touchscreen controllers.
The challenge of the game doesn’t lie in beating the levels so much as beating them while collecting colored coins that are strategically placed throughout the stages.  There are pink coins, purple coins, and black coins, the latter of which being the most difficult to obtain.  During the adventure mode, you can also spend time building your own Mushroom Kingdom by using coins to purchase buildings and decorations.  However, a Mushroom Kingdom is nothing without servile Toads to populate, which is where the “Toad Rallies” come in.  In the Toad Rallies, you race against other players through various stages, and whomever collects the most coins wins new Toads!  This part of the game feels like the blueprints to a Mario themed RTS game, but with no RTS aspects whatsoever beyond kingdom building. It’s neat, but the stuff you buy to build up your kingdom is mostly for aesthetic appeal and serves no actual function (though some of houses unlock playable characters like Yoshi, Toadette, and Luigi).
Hey, what, no Wario???  Hmm, then again, this is an endless runner, and Wario’s fatass is not known for his running abilities.
Super Mario Run is not breaking any new ground in the franchise, but it’s a good start for Nintendo’s initial foray into mobile gaming.  I’m looking forward to seeing how their other properties translate into mobile gaming (there HAS to be way to get a new Punch-Out game to work for phones – maybe you touch Little Macs glove to punch, and then hold down for super punch?). If nothing else, Super Mario Run will spare you from looking like a big dork because you brought a DS to a wedding.
Btw, speaking of Mario, we covered the so-bad-its-good Super Mario Bros movie in my podcast Kill Screen Cinema.  It was a hilarious discussion and you can listen to it right there:
