______________________________________________________________
The day had finally come.
The beach trip with your closest friends that you had been anticipating for a while now was happening at last. It's very common for your friend group to create plans that never leave the group chat, but this time your self-designated “group leader” Byounggon was determined to make it happen. So, on a random weekday he suddenly sent a screenshot of a beachside Airbnb that he found in Santa Cruz, California to the chat and told everyone to venmo him ASAP so he could book it. Surprisingly, everyone was on board, and you were all able to come to an agreement on the dates for this vacation.
These past few months have been nothing but school, work, repeat, and you were so excited to break the seemingly never-ending cycle for summer vacation. In fact, you took an entire week off of work just for this three-day long adventure. Before you could even climb out of bed, you heard your phone buzz. You quickly unplugged it from its charger and read the message your phone displayed. It was from your best friend, Hyunsuk.
Hyunsuk: i’ll be over in a few with my stuff
Y/N: i just woke up, can you give me like 10 mins?
Hyunsuk: …bruh
Hyunsuk: we’re supposed to leave in 30
Y/N: i know but i woke up late, pls give me like 10 minutes to get my stuff together
Hyunsuk: i’ll be over in 5
You sighed as you placed your phone back on your bedside table. There was no arguing with him and you knew that. As his best friend of over 15 years, you knew him well enough to not try to convince him once he had his mind set on something, as he was often extremely stubborn.
Sometimes, however, with the right tone of voice and pleading eyes, you could convince him to give into your demands. Unfortunately over text these methods don’t work on him, so you have to settle with what he wants for the time being.
You finally got the motivation to get yourself out of bed and walked over to your closet to find something to wear. Since it was a long car ride, you decided to throw on something comfortable which just so happened to be a pair of black gym shorts and a hoodie with a black tank top underneath. Hyunsuk, being the gentleman that he is, offered to drive with the exception that you two took your car since you had more trunk space to which you happily agreed to. This gave you the opportunity to sleep on the way there, as you couldn’t deal with Hyunsuk yapping your ear off this early in the morning.
You heard your parents downstairs talking to Hyunsuk, which made you speed run brushing your hair and teeth before quickly throwing those last minute items into your overnight bag. You then left your room with your car keys to go greet him and allow him to start loading his things into the vehicle, but the second you started walking down the stairs he turned to smile at you which made your heart…flutter?
“Stop it”, you thought to yourself, “He’s my friend…just my friend…”
You’ve been having these intrusive thoughts lately about him that make your cheeks flush red and give you the feeling of butterflies in your stomach. You often wondered what life would be like if he was yours. You wanted to know what would it be like to be able to cuddle with him, kiss, and even more.
Sometimes these thoughts make you sick to your stomach, since you’ve known him since you two were in kindergarten. Lately, however, you haven’t been able to suppress these thoughts as they've been taking over your daydreams. You yearn for Hyunsuk, but you don’t know or even want to know if he yearns for you back. You refuse to ruin your friendship with him, as this is the most valuable thing in the world to you.
“Finally” Hyunsuk says, snapping you out of your thoughts.
“Shut the fuck up, it didn’t take me that long to get ready” you argued back while reaching the bottom of the stairs. Hyunsuk chuckled to himself and turned to your parents.
“See what I have to deal with?” He said jokingly, which made your parents laugh but brought you to smack his arm lightly out of slight annoyance.
“You’re a weakling” He said, peering down at you.
“I swear I will punch you next time” You stated, crossing your arms and looking back up at him with a smug smile on your face.
“Don’t get too feisty now, we got a long car ride to go on together” Hyunsuk said back, which raised a huge sigh out of you. You were looking forward to being alone with him, but long car rides were not fun for you at all. Hyunsuk then took your keys from you and went to unlock your car so he could begin packing. You said goodbye to your parents as Hyunsuk came back inside to help grab your things from upstairs and load them into your trunk.
“When will you be back?” Your mom asked, hugging you goodbye.
“I’ll be back in 3 days” You responded.
“Ok good, please be safe” your mom leaned in close to whisper to you
“You know, I’m so glad you have a friend like Hyunsuk, he’ll be there to protect you”. You blushed slightly and looked down at the ground.
“I have my pepper spray mom”
“I know, but you know what I mean. He’s a good man Y/N, and he will be there for you”
“Mom please!” You whispered, but then you suddenly heard the trunk of the car slam shut which made you jolt a bit. Hyunsuk came running back inside to let you know that he was ready to go and that he was going to start the car. You said your final goodbyes and waved to your parents as you and Hyunsuk backed out of the driveway and took off towards your destination.
The car ride was miserably long. Not even 20 minutes in you kicked your shoes off and placed your feet up on the dash, and to Hyunsuk’s annoyance you turned up the A/C since you liked it cold. However, you were grateful that he was driving and you didn’t ask to stop for snacks or a bathroom break unless it was necessary to stop for gas. You also were able to use your guilt tripping skills on Hyunsuk to get him to buy you a bag of chips and a soda at the gas station for you, but he secretly enjoyed doing that despite the fact that he seemed to act displeased when paying.
After hours of being on the road you finally arrived at the beachside Airbnb. You gasped at the sight, as the scenery was even more beautiful in person. This house was two stories and on the side it had a stairway leading down to what looked like a private beach area. You looked back at Hyunsuk and pointed out all the little details you noticed as you pulled into the driveway and he smiled. Little did you know, Hyunsuk wasn’t smiling at the scenery. He was just happy that you were happy to be here, but he didn’t need you to know that.
As soon as you got out of the car you were greeted by your girl best friend, B/F/N. She gave you the biggest hug and almost picked you up off the ground out of pure excitement. You two haven’t seen each other in weeks due to conflicting work schedules. Luckily though, you were both understanding and still managed to text each other daily.
“Come on guys! Everyone is inside waiting for you!” B/F/N said in an excited tone.
“I told you we’d be the last ones here Y/N!” Hyunsuk said. You rolled your eyes at him.
“It’s fine Hyunsuk, let’s go inside!” You said, leaving him to grab the bags from the trunk as you walked towards the front door with B/F/N.
“Oh, before we go inside, I need to tell you something” B/F/N said, her tone changing to be slightly serious.
“What did Jinyoung finally propose to you?” You asked.
“No! Not yet anyways…but it’s about the bedroom arrangement” She said. You looked at her confused.
“What do you mean? Is my bedroom not the one upstairs anymore?” You asked.
“So, um, please don’t get mad, but the listing had the wrong number of bedrooms…” She trailed off.
“What do you mean?” You repeated yourself.
“Well…come on I’ll just show you” She took your arm and led you inside and towards a room on the downstairs floor. You briefly waved at the four boys who were sitting in the living room playing a card game before being dragged away down a hallway. Once you got to the room she opened it and showed you inside.
“Is this my room?” You asked, confused as to why this would be a problem.
“Yeah…and Hyunsuk’s…”
“What?” You were getting annoyed at her dodging the questions you’ve been asking.
“So basically, me and Jinyoung are sharing a room while BX and Seunghun share a room, and Yonghee is taking the room that has the twin bed because he wants to be alone, so this is the only room left for you and Hyunsuk and we figured you guys would be ok if you took the room with the bigger bed while Yonghee took the smaller bed” B/F/N said, almost out of breath by the end of her tangent.
The realization hit you like a bullet to the chest, your stomach dropping as if you were on some intense roller coaster ride. What kind of cliche fanfiction trope is this?
“Oh so you mean me and Hyunsuk have to…share the bed…okay…” You said slowly.
“Please don’t be mad! Besides from what you’ve been telling me I thought you would love this–” You quickly shushed her by putting your hand over her mouth as you heard footsteps coming down the hallway. The door swung open to reveal a very tired looking Hyunsuk carrying your overnight bags. His eyes widened as he saw that there was only one bed in the room.
“Is this the room?” He asked, his eyes darting between you and your best friend.
“Yep this is it! I will leave you guys to get settled, bye!” B/F/N said awkwardly before scurrying out of the room and slamming the door shut.
“I guess the Airbnb had the wrong number of rooms listed…” you trailed off before sitting down on the edge of the bed. Hyunsuk came to sit next to you, as he needed a bit of rest from the car ride.
“Are you ok with this?” He asked. You were surprised at the question.
“Why wouldn’t I be?” You asked back. He shrugged.
“I don’t know, we’ve just never slept in a bed together. If it makes you more comfortable I can sleep on the floor or on the couch or something” He said. You shook your head.
“No no it’s fine, I truly don’t mind, as long as you don’t either” You said back. He smiled at you, which made your cheeks turn a slight pink.
“I don’t mind at all,” He said. He suddenly stood up and started looking around, trying to figure out how to arrange all of your things.
“At least we have our own bathroom in here” He said. Then your phone buzzed, it was a text in the groupchat from Yonghee telling everyone to get their swimsuits on and meet him in the hot tub on the back deck. You relayed the message to Hyunsuk, and you both took turns changing before meeting the others outside.
After weeks of not seeing them, you forgot how much fun hanging out with your friends was. After popping open a few cans of alcoholic seltzers and sharing a bottle of vodka with the others you were having the time of your life, as you were already wasted by 10pm playing a game of drunk truth or dare with the others while still in the hot tub. After Yonghee started pouting for being dared to scream the word “penis” for the third time it was your turn to finally ask Hyunsuk the question.
“Sukkie...truth or dare” you giggled. Sukkie was the nickname you gave him in private, but now your friends know, as you can’t stop calling him that in your drunken state. Your friends started chanting the word dare, and he got visibly annoyed with them.
“Okay fuck I’ll chose dare!” He exclaimed.
“I dare you…to shotgun another seltzer with me” You said, not being able to contain your laughter. He looked at you concerned, as well as the others. You were already far ahead of them as you made it your mission to get wasted tonight.
“I don’t know Y/N, you’re already pretty drunk,” Hyunsuk replied.
“Pleaseeeeee sukkie it’ll be soooooo much fun!!” You begged. He sighed and got out of the hot tub to grab two seltzer cans. You followed him and watched as he popped open the bottle with a key, a sight that you never thought could turn you on, but it did. He handed you the can and you both counted down from 3 before popping the tab and beginning to shotgun. He beat you easily, as you were still trying to down the cool carbonated liquid as it burned your throat. After you finished, you instantly knew that was a mistake as your stomach couldn’t handle it anymore.
Before you knew it, you told everyone you’d be right back and then rushed inside to your room as you couldn’t fight the urge to throw up.
Unfortunately you were stuck in the bathroom for a minute. Hyunsuk noticed you were gone for a while and went to check on you, where he found you in the bathroom vomiting for the third time in a row. He looked visibly worried as he kneeled down beside you to hold your hair back while you let out yet another one.
“I”m so sorry…I know this is gross,” You said, feeling yourself begin to become sober again.
“It’s ok, you can let it out, I’m here for you no matter what. Besides, you helped me through my last hangover. It’s the least I can do” Hyunsuk said with a smile, but you could tell through his eyes that he was concerned for you.
“I think I just need to lay down now” You said, trying to stand on your own but failing. Hyunsuk quickly picked you up and carried you, gently laying you down on the bed making sure to lay you on your side.
“Don’t move ok? I’m going to grab you some water” He said before rushing out the door.
You couldn’t help but start to doze off as you heard him telling your other friends that you got sick, but you didn’t mind that they knew. Before Hyunsuk came back, you ended up falling asleep. He entered the room with your water and couldn’t help but smile to himself as he heard the soft snores coming from your side of the bed. He set the glass of water down on the nightstand next to you and brushed his hand over your face, tucking some hair behind your ear.
At that moment he wanted nothing more than to kiss your forehead and then cuddle up to you in bed. However, he knew that he couldn’t do that. After all, you two were just friends, and he didn’t want to ruin it. He climbed into bed next to you before turning away to resist the urge to spoon his best friend, and after thinking about how pretty you were to him, he was able to fall asleep as well.
You woke up with a pounding headache, looking to your side you reached over to your nightstand to chug the water Hyunsuk left there for you. Your sudden rise to sit up made Hyunsuk wake up, thinking you needed to throw up again.
“Sorry sukkie, I didn’t mean to wake you up” You said.
“It’s ok Y/N, you just had me worried for a second.” He responded before laying back down on his side and falling back to sleep. You were desperate to get rid of that awful headache, so you climbed out of bed and made your way to the kitchen to search for some medicine. You discovered Seunghun making himself a bowl of cereal in nothing but plaid pajama pants on.
“Seunghun jumpscare warning next time please!” You joked as you pretended to shield your eyes from his naked upper half. You couldn’t lie, he looked good, but you currently had your eyes on someone else.
“Wow, that was rude!” Seunghun said, not being able to hide his laughter.
“Don’t worry I was kidding!” You defended yourself.
“How are you feeling?” Seunghun asked you.
“Not great, I have a really bad headache that’s not going away. I already chugged some water but it’s still here” You responded, rubbing the side of your head.
“I think B/F/N might have some medicine, you should go ask her. I saw her take something this morning” Seunghun responded as he took a bite of his cereal.
“Will do, thanks Seunghun!” you said before heading up the stairs to B/F/N and Jinyoung’s room. After interrogating your friend as to why she suddenly has a bunch of hickeys on her chest, she finally forked over some advil for you to take. After you took the pills, she whispered to you.
“You know, Hyunsuk was really worried about you last night”
“Really?” You asked, sounding surprised.
“Yeah, I mean we were all worried, but he was restless when you left to go to the bathroom and needed to check on you as soon as he could. Also, when he came to get you water last night, he told us he was going to stop drinking with us so he could lay in bed with you to make sure you were ok” She responded with a smile on her face.
“I guess I am lucky to have a friend like him, huh?” You say nonchalantly. This caused your friend to smack you lighty on the arm.
“Girl I think he wants you, and not in the friend way,” she said. You started blushing again.
“I really don’t think so,” You denied it. Although, that is the only thing that you want right now.
“Whatever, just pay attention to how he looks at you today. He definitely sees you as more than a friend,” B/F/N responded. You shook your head before walking back downstairs towards your room.
“Does he really see me as more than a friend?” You couldn’t help but wonder. You didn’t want to let your friend give you false hope, but you wanted to believe it so bad.
Today you and your friends decided to go to the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk, so you all piled in your car and headed towards the boardwalk together. After you park your friend group immediately split up as Seunghun, Yonghee, and Byounggon wanted to go on rides while Jinyoung and B/F/N wanted to lay on the beach. Hyunsuk decided he was hungry, so the two of you go to the food area and buy him a burger while you got a corndog.
Unfortunately, Hyunsuk couldn’t help it when his mind started to wander while he watched you eat, and he couldn’t help the growing bulge in his pants either. It also wasn’t his fault that you decided to wear short denim shorts and a crop top that very well showed your cleavage to him. You may or may not have done that on purpose. This outfit left a lot up to his imagination, and he couldn’t stop himself from picturing what it would be like to be inside of you at the moment.
“H-how’s the food?” He stuttered, trying to take his mind off of how good you looked right now.
“It’s so good, do you want a bite?” You offer him your corn dog, but he refuses.
“No I’m good I have my burger,” he says quickly while shoving another bite in his mouth.
“Are you ok? You’ve been acting weird since we got here” You asked him, genuinely concerned.
“Yep I’m fine! Let's go play some games or something” He said, finishing his burger and getting up to throw the trash away. You followed him, but almost got lost in the sea of people trying to keep up with him. He noticed you were trailing behind and grabbed your hand to pull you next to him. You started to get butterflies in your stomach with the realization you guys were holding hands, but Hyunsuk was trying to get the image of him fucking you in that outfit out of his head.
He thought the arcade would help, but it actually did the opposite. You pulled Hyunsuk towards one of your favorite games which happened to be crossy road. The way you bent over to focus on the game drove him up a wall. He almost said screw it and bent you over the machine to fuck you from behind, but of course he couldn’t. He did not want to get arrested today. Instead, he began to separate himself from you and focus on games he wanted to play such as first person shooters. He found a zombie one that he liked and played it until his little problem started to die down.
He didn’t realize how much time passed until you approached him and asked him if it was ok if you guys went on a few rides now. He apologized for taking so long and you two left the arcade, but you were sad because this time he didn’t grab your hand.
You two found yourselves in line for the log ride, and you were so excited because you haven’t been on a water ride in a long time. Your turn came and went, and by the end you were soaked because not only did the ride splash you, but Yonghee and Byounggon decided to be assholes and pay for the water guns at the end of the ride to spray you guys even more. It wasn’t until after the ride that Hyunsuk realized he made yet another mistake and allowed you to get your clothes wet in front of him. All he wanted was to rip the clothes off of you at this point, and he couldn’t handle it anymore.
“Can we go now?” Hyunsuk suddenly asked as the five of you were walking to meet back up with Jinyoung and B/F/N.
“What? But it’s only been a few hours” Yonghee whined.
“Please? I’m tired” Hyunsuk snapped back at him.
“What made you tired? All we did was play arcade games and stand in lines” You said, slightly irritated at the fact that he already wanted to leave.
“I’m just tired, ok? I drove you yesterday while you got to sleep in the passenger seat” He said back. You did not like his tone.
“Why is it my fault? You offered to drive,” You argued back. Hyunsuk was starting to get even more turned on, but he decided he couldn’t be here any longer with his little problem.
“Whatever, I’m just going to uber home” He says and then starts speed walking away. Everyone started to call his name but he disappeared into the crowd. You were visibly upset by this, and Seunghun started to pat your back gently.
“It’s ok Y/N, whatever it is I’m sure it’s not your fault” He said trying to comfort you.
“I hope it’s not” You say, tears starting to form in your eyes. Byounggon noticed and offered to take you on more rides which cheered you up. While you were in line for a rollercoaster, Byounggon realized he hadn’t taken any photos on this trip yet so he whipped out his phone and took a selfie of you and him to post on his instagram story. You stood on your tippy toes and rested your chin on his shoulder for the picture, thinking nothing of it at the time. He then put his phone away so you guys could get onto the ride.
Back at the Airbnb, Hyunsuk saw the photo. He thought you two were too close for his liking, and he got mad. He was so upset that he almost threw his phone at the wall, but he opted to set it down instead. He paced around the room anxiously. He wanted to get back at you, but he didn’t know how. All he wanted was for you to be his, but in his angry mind he thought you wanted to be with Byounggon. Suddenly he picked up his phone and started downloading an app that he hasn’t used in a long time: tinder. He decided that if he couldn’t have you, the best thing to do right now would be to fuck some other girl so he could get his mind off of you.
You finally returned to the house with the others after having an amazing time at the boardwalk, you almost forgot about Hyunsuk’s little fit and went to the bedroom to tell him all about it. You walked in and suddenly felt your heart sink as you saw Hyunsuk putting his shoes on.
“Hey Hyunsuk, what’re ya doin?” You asked, trying to joke around. He didn’t even look up at you.
“I’m going out. I’ll be back later,” He replied coldly. Your heart sank even more.
“Where are you going? Can I come?” You asked. He snapped his head up and shot you a dirty look.
“No you can’t come with me, it’s none of your business” he says while tying his laces.
“How come? You can tell me I promise I won’t judge” you pleaded.
“I said NO Y/N,” he raised his voice at you. You were taken aback by his tone.
“Oh…” you said quietly. That’s all you could manage to get out. Hyunsuk’s phone then buzzed with a message, and you saw it was from tinder. Suddenly every hope you had of being with him was gone, and you almost burst into tears. But you couldn’t let Hyunsuk see you like that, so you held it in. Once he finished putting his shoes on he stood up and walked past you towards the door, but before he left you managed to get one sentence out.
“Have fun fucking some random bitch” you said in the most monotone voice you could manage. You didn’t like how you said it, but you didn’t care. Hyunsuk hurt your feelings and you wanted to hurt him back.
“I will, and you have fun fucking Byounggon tonight” he said, slamming the bedroom door shut.
“Wait what?” you asked yourself. You then realized what he said, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. You then realized that he was referring to the photo that you and Byounggon took, and upon further inspection it did look slightly like a couple photo. You messed up, but he had the wrong idea. By the time you realized where the miscommunication was, Hyunsuk already left in your car, which made you even more upset. You tried calling him, but he kept declining. All you could do was cry as the others comforted you in the living room. They kept telling you it wasn’t your fault, and Byounggon felt especially guilty. He tried calling Hyunsuk as well, but it was no use. You assured him that it wasn’t his fault.
After about 20 minutes of trying to contact him, everyone gave up and decided to head to their rooms for the night. They all told you that if you needed anything at all then to come find them, and you just nodded your head and tried wiping away tears but they kept coming. You sent one last long text to Hyunsuk explaining the situation and telling him this was all a big misunderstanding before putting your phone back in your pocket and silencing the ringer.
Once everyone went to their rooms, you decided you needed a breath of fresh air, so you got some new clothes on, grabbed a blanket, and walked down to the private beach area. You laid the blanket down and curled into a ball on it. You couldn’t help but start crying again. You wondered why Hyunsuk was acting like he hated you suddenly, and why he didn’t want to hear your explanation. Once you felt like you cried enough, you sat up and stared at the sea. Watching the waves crash on the shore was almost therapeutic for you, and it helped calm you down.
Suddenly you felt a presence behind you, but you couldn’t bring yourself to turn around. Then, that same presence sat beside you on your blanket. You kept your gaze on the ocean’s waves in front of you, but you knew that the person who joined you was Hyunsuk. You couldn’t even look at him after what happened tonight. He made you feel so ashamed of yourself. However, he knew you were upset with him, so you two sat together on the beach in silence for what felt like hours before you decided to break it.
“How was she?” you asked. It probably wasn’t the right question to ask, but you couldn’t help it.
“I didn’t go,” Hyunsuk said firmly.
“What made you change your mind?” You asked, not fully believing him. He was gone for an hour after all.
“I parked in an empty parking lot and did some thinking, I realized what I was doing was stupid” He said.
“Yeah, it was stupid” you scoffed.
“Especially because you took my car, asshole”
“It was, and I’m sorry,” Hyunsuk said.
“I appreciate your apology, but I need an explanation” You said to him. He sighed, but agreed to tell you.
“Like I said, it was a bad decision. I wanted to get back at you for that photo Byounggon posted. I thought you made him post it to make me jealous and-”
“Wait make you jealous? I don’t understand” you cut him off.
“I thought you were trying to make me feel bad for leaving the boardwalk early, so I was upset with the post,” Hyunsuk said quietly.
“You know I’d never do something like that Sukkie, you’re an idiot for thinking I would do that to you. Also, Byounggon would never agree to that” you said.
“I know, and I’m truly sorry for assuming the worst,” Hyunsuk said sadly.
“But can you tell me why you left the boardwalk? You seemed fine at first, none of us understood why you left,” You said. He clearly didn’t want to tell you, but you begged him.
“Please, Sukkie, be honest with me. You’re my best friend, you can tell me anything” you said.
“I just…don’t want to ruin our friendship,” he said. Your stomach dropped when hearing those words.
“You won’t, I pinky swear. You can tell me anything. Please?” You pleaded with him.
“Ok fine...it was because of you,” he said bluntly.
“Because of me? Was I being annoying?” you asked, your feelings hurt. You could feel the tears in your eyes forming again.
“No, you weren’t being annoying at all. This is so hard for me to explain, Y/N. I left because…I liked your outfit a lot. I liked your outfit too much, if you get what I’m saying. I got…um…excited,” He said while looking down, slightly embarrassed by his choice of words.
“Oh…OH!” You exclaimed as the realization hit you.
“Will you relax?” He said, already feeling slightly humiliated.
“I just want you to know i’m not judging you Hyunsuk, sometimes we can’t control how we feel and I didn’t mean to make you feel that way” you said, stuttering like crazy. But secretly, you did. You knew what you were doing when you put that outfit on, and now you’re feeling some form of satisfaction knowing you got a rise out of Hyunsuk.
“It’s ok, you can’t help how sexy you are,” Hyunsuk said. Your mouth hung open, you couldn’t believe your best friend just called you sexy. You turned to face him, the moonlight casting the perfect lighting onto his already flawless face. At this moment, his lips have never looked so kissable to you before.
He turned to look at you too, and it was like a switch flipped. He was no longer afraid of ruining your friendship, he needed you more than anything at that moment. He closed the distance between you and pressed his soft lips against yours. You sighed of relief and closed your eyes, as you’ve been waiting for this moment for years. After a few seconds, you pulled away to look at him again.
“Sukkie, I-I don’t know what to say. I’m so happy right now” You said
“Y/N…I need you to know that I’ve loved you for years. I didn’t want to risk ruining our friendship by confessing prematurely. I wanted to make sure you liked me first, that’s why when Byounggon posted that photo it crushed me. I just wanted to have you to myself and I thought I lost you” Hyunsuk confessed.
“Hyunsuk, I love you too. I always have and I always will. You’re still my best friend no matter what, but I think I want to be more than just friends with you” You said. Hyunsuk smiled at you before leaning in to kiss you again. This time, however, it was a little more passionate. His tongue grazed your lips as you opened your mouth a little wider, allowing for his tongue to enter your mouth. He brought his hands up to your neck, pulling you even closer to him. He broke the kiss and started to trail down your neck. The sensation of his warm mouth on your sensitive skin sent shivers down your spine, and you wanted more. He returned to your mouth and you kissed him for a while longer before you noticed the growing bulge in his pants, and the growing heat in yours.
“Should we take this to the bedroom?” Hyunsuk whispered. You nodded and quickly stood up from the ground and grabbed the blanket, signaling for him to get off before you picked it up and folded it. You two then ran back to the house, hand in hand, anxious to be close together again.
Once you reached the bedroom it was as if every care you had in the world was gone. Hyunsuk shut the door behind him and you two were once again kissing, this time faster and more aggressive. He grabbed you by the waist and pushed your body against the wall. He yet again slipped his tongue in your mouth, which made you whimper. You grabbed him by the hair and somehow managed to pull him even closer than he already was.
His fingers found his way up your shirt, and he started to feel your breasts between the fabric of your bra. This action made you moan into his mouth. You couldn’t help but rock your hips against his due to his touch, and that’s when you noticed his hard on pressing against you. He pulled back from the kiss, a thin trail of saliva still connecting the two of you. He then picked you up and placed you on the bed in a seated position.
“I want to please you, tell me what you want me to do to you,” Hyunsuk said, looking down at you.
“Hyunsuk…please just touch me” you say desperately, clenching your legs together as you were slightly embarrassed about the wetness that has already accumulated for him.
“Just wait baby, I’ll get to that” he said. Hyunsuk decided he wanted to move as slow as possible to relish every moment he had with you.
He kneeled on the ground in front of you then slipped his fingers into the waistband of your shorts and slid them down your legs. You threw your shirt off for him as the material became unbearable in the heat of the moment. He looked you up and down, admiring your natural beauty that was displayed before him. He knew you couldn’t wait any longer for him, so he then put two fingers in your mouth and demanded for you to suck on them, to which you happily listened. This sight made him twitch with anticipation, as he couldn’t wait to make you feel good.
After his fingers were coated in your saliva he slowly entered one finger into your gaping hole that was just begging to be touched. The sound you made was unholy, as you whipped your head back from the instant pleasure. He easily slipped in the second finger because of how soaked you were, and he started working at a pace to stretch you in preparation for later. You became a moaning mess and fully fell backwards onto the bed as you couldn’t sit up anymore. As much as you wanted to watch him finger you, he was doing it so well that it made you almost pass out from bliss and you couldn’t help but throw your head back again. He rammed his fingers into your g-spot over and over again as you hissed out profanities from all the pleasure he was providing.
“You’re so fucking hot” Hyunsuk whispered before sticking his tongue out and circling it around your clit. He then started to move his fingers in and out of you faster while trying to work his tongue at the same speed. This caused you to start seeing white as it felt so amazing. You never realized Hyunsuk could make you cum by just his fingers, as no other man has ever come close to making you feel this good. You started to buck your hips against his working tongue, and you were on the verge of climaxing.
“Hyunsuk…I-I’m gonna…I might-”
Hyunsuk then pulled his fingers out abruptly, the brief absence of his touch made you feel empty. He didn’t want you to cum just yet. He stood up and then made you sit up.
“Before I continue, I need to know what it’s like to have your lips around my cock” he said. You didn’t even need to be asked twice. As soon as he said those words you lunged forward to unzip and pull his pants down. To your surprise, Hyunsuk was big. Bigger than you expected, but you didn’t care. You didn’t hesitate to put his dick in your mouth before beginning to suck on it.
He dug his fingers into your hair and pulled your head back to look up at him. You continued to go up and down on his length until you felt him begin to twitch. You started licking the tip and around the base until you felt him throbbing. He couldn’t take it anymore, he needed to fuck the shit out of you. Before you could finish sucking him off, Hyunsuk pushed you back to lay down before climbing on top of you.
“Is this ok baby?” He asked, lining his dick up by the entrance. The sudden nickname made you smile.
“Hyunsuk if you don’t fuck me right now I think I’m actually going to die” you said back. He chuckled a bit before starting to push his cock into your entrance. You moaned louder than expected at this, but you didn’t care. He was so big that it hurt you, and you’ve had sex before. Once he got it all the way in, the pain was quickly replaced by pleasure due to how turned on you were. He leaned down to capture your lips in a deep passionate kiss before beginning to thrust into you. He felt your walls clench as he moved his cock in and out of your slick folds, which only turned him on even more. You couldn’t help yourself and began to dig your nails deep into his back muscles creating bright red scratch marks.
“Y/N, ahhh…fuck…you’re so good…” He said between thrusts. You couldn’t believe you were making your best friend moan like this, but it brought you a lot of satisfaction. He continued to buck his hips into yours, moving faster and faster as he gently held your waist down onto the bed. He then started to slow down, and you whimpered as you wanted him to continue going at the fast pace. You didn’t want this moment to be over already.
“Can you flip around for me baby? I want to fuck you from behind” Hyunsuk said. You nodded at him and gladly turned over onto your stomach, your bare ass completely exposed to him.
“I know I said this already, but you are so sexy Y/N, '' Hyunsuk said as he placed his huge hands on your ass and gave it a light smack. He then pulled you back towards him by your hips and went to kneel behind you on the bed, positioning is cock yet again at your entrance. He wasted no time slipping it in this time, as you were already prepped. The sudden penetration made you yelp slightly.
“Are you okay darling, did I go too fast?” Hyunsuk asked, sounding worried.
“No it’s ok! I just didn’t expect it, but please keep going” You responded with desperation in your voice. He nodded and started to push deeper into you before pulling out and re-entering again. You could barely handle this motion as he was so large it made you weak. Hyunsuk then started a fast steady pace thrusting in and out of your hole that had you panting and yearning for more. Your walls started to clench even tighter as you could feel yourself yet again building up to your climax. You turned to look at him, and seeing him clenching his jaw while focusing on fucking you was all you needed to finish.
“Hyunsuk, I’m going to cum” you almost yelled. Hyunsuk was also close, he increased his speed and started to thrust extremely sloppy as all he wanted was for you and him to cum together. He leaned down and kissed you wherever his mouth could reach and you attempted to kiss him back, only grazing his lips with the corner of your mouth. Suddenly you couldn’t take it anymore, and your body trembled as the feeling of your orgasm overtook you. This sight made Hyunsuk thrust into you one last time before he finished inside you. The hot sensation of his cum made you feel weak, and when he fully pulled his cock out he left a small trail on the bed sheets.
You fell flat onto the bed to rest as Hyunsuk quickly went to the bathroom to grab a towel and clean you up. Once he returned he tried rubbing the cum out of the sheets, but only made it worse.
“Shit, sorry Y/N I meant to pull out and cum on your back but…I couldn’t help it” He said sheepishly. You chuckled at his ridiculous apology.
“It’s fine Sukkie, I appreciate the effort. Let’s just get some new bed sheets to sleep on…and we’ll hunt for some plan b tomorrow” You suggested, standing up and walking to the closet where you luckily found spare sheets to put on. After remaking the bed, your body felt so tired that you couldn’t even bring yourself to go to the bathroom to get ready to sleep. Instead, you plopped down onto your side of the bed. Hyunsuk followed and draped his arm around you, pulling you in closer towards his warm exposed chest. You rested your head on his side, as you couldn’t believe that just happened.
“So…is our friendship over?” Hyunsuk asked quietly.
“I think so,” You said, leaning up to kiss him quickly on the lips.
“I think we have a different kind of relationship now,”
You took his hand in yours. Hyunsuk had a huge grin on his face, he was so excited to start a new chapter in his life with you.
“Y/N, I would love for you to be my girlfriend. Of course, you’ll always be my best friend, but I think girlfriend is a more fitting title now” Hyunsuk said.
“And I would love for you to be my boyfriend” You said back. You threw your arm over his body as you snuggled in close to him, smelling his cologne as you took a deep breath and closed your eyes, ready for sleep to overtake you.
“I love you, Y/N” Hyunsuk said before shutting his eyes.
“I love you, Hyunsuk” You said back, drifting off to sleep in his arms.

I Love You 3000
—bang yedam
PAIRING ▸ yedam x troublemaker-ish!reader
GENRE ▸ fluff
SUMMARY ▸ When you accidentally fall asleep in the library after school, you don’t expect to be met with the voice of a student you had a crush on a few years ago
WORDCOUNT ▸ 0.874K
DISCLAMERS & TAGS ▸ fem!reader, mild language, low-key a songfic? Written in 2nd person. Also might I just add that i changed the lyrics from “best friend” to “husband” and towards the end they stop singing before the song itself actually ends.
“Damn it, y/n why did you have to fall asleep in the library?” You mentally curse yourself as you speed walk through the empty school hallways. You’d told yourself that after classes were finished you’d go to the library to study.
Well— the going to the library part was carried through easily. The studying part, not so much. As soon as you opened your textbooks your body gave out on you and you fell forward on the table, too exhausted to care as you fell asleep within a few seconds. To save yourself from embarrassment, you blamed it on the lack of sleep you had during classes today.
You had found a comfortable position to sleep in during your science class when the teacher suddenly called your name. After you miserably failed at answering her question about the subject she was teaching, she had given you a warning before making you replace your sweater on the table that you’d formerly used as a pillow with your textbooks and pencil.
Speeding down the stairs, you make a sharp turn left about to pick up the pace until a distant voice stops you. It’s coming from the west wing, opposite of where you are currently heading. Your body reacts on its own and you find yourself approaching the source of that mysterious voice that you realize is singing.
Wait— you freeze, recognizing that voice. Yedam?
Your eyes dart to the room on your right, and you slowly head towards it, stopping at the door frame. And just as you expected, there he was. Bang Yedam singing his heart out whilst cleaning the windows of the empty classroom. Your eyebrows furrow when you recognize the lyrics and melody.
This dude listens to Stephanie Poetri?
“Baby, take my hand, I just want to be your husband” Yedam sings, closing the windows one by one, too focused on his task to notice you watching in awe, mouth hanging open.
You had a small crush on him two years ago during sophomore year. Who could blame you though? Yedam was and still is the definition of perfect. Perfect grades, perfect face. You began to forget about those feelings you had for him when you realized you had no chance with him compared to all the other gorgeous girls not only in your year, but also in the entire student body. But now, standing in front of him again in circumstances like this, you’re starting to believe that small infatuation you had for him is still lingering somewhere in your heart.
“'Cause I'm your Iron Man, and you love me 3000” His voice is soft, dripping with honey. The lyrics roll off his tongue in the most angelic way possible and you’re surprised this is the first time you’ve heard Yedam sing despite the fact that you both attend SOPA; the one school that’s made for students to sing. “Baby, take a chance 'cause I want this to be something”
Your lips move on their own and before you know it, you join in. “Straight out of a Hollywood movie, baby”
Your eyes widen in surprise. You don’t know if it’s because you hadn’t planned on singing along or the fact that Bang Yedam was staring right at you, shocked. His lips slowly quirk up into a smile, though, as he tosses you the blackboard eraser. You’re lucky your reflexes are quick, or else your diner would’ve been a nice mouthful of hard wood and chalk dust.
The boy remains unfazed, letting out an airy chuckle before continuing on with the song. “Da da, da da da dum”
You quickly understand the assignment and go over to the board at the front of the classroom, swiping the object in your hand to erase every trace of the previous lecture. You find yourself subconsciously humming, a grin picking at your lips and you take it upon yourself to sing the next line. “No spoilers please”
“Da da, da da da dum no spoilers please” Yedam’s finished with the windows, laying out the cloth he used on one of the cabinets to dry. He then stacks the chairs up on their desks. His gaze lands on you, and his stomach erupts into butterflies.
Yedam was never one to develop any crushes. But for some reason, during a presentation last year, the boy couldn’t seem to keep his eyes on the PowerPoint you’d made. They automatically drifted towards you. How your eyes sparkled because of how passionate you were about the subject the presentation was about; double entendres. Whether he noticed or not, Bang Yedam became head over heels for you since that day, but was too shy— or maybe too much of a coward to do something about it.
“Baby, take my hand, I want you to be my husband” You put away the eraser, turning around. Your breath hitches when you see Bang Yedam right in front of you leaning on the lectern, arms crossed with a big smile. He tilts his head to the side, looking right into your eyes. It takes you a moment to realize. Yedam is singing to you, and he means every single part of it.
“'Cause I’m your Iron Man and I love you 3000”

Stress Mess |B. Yedam|
Requested
Group: Treaure
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: Mentions of insecurities??
No matter how much you breathed you couldn’t face it, you couldn’t push yourself to be prepared for this even if three grades before are what were meant to do it. Now that it was here, being here, right In front of you. ‘It’ was Highschool, your last year, Senior year.
You felt like everything started and ended here, many say that highschool is the start of the rest of your life and you agreed, well most people agreed, not Your Boyfriend Yedam , he felt that only if you let it that it would be. He had an easier way of thinking , in some way you were bound to succeed and make it because of how determine you were something would come good for you.
You didn’t just want good you wanted great , the best possible level of academic success you could achieve on your knowledge, no problem. The stress that you put on yourself was though , it was Yedam’s as well . He hated when you talked down on yourself as if you’d just lose it all together he saw the great benefit of your intelligence more than you did and he wished very often that’d you’d see the same so that you wouldn’t stress so yourself out so much .
Every day , every hour that you spent in school , the place that you felt prisoner to and like it’d give you your life sentence, it was a little hard to breathe . Except in one place, it was always fresh and beautiful it looked so put together contrary to all of what you felt about yourself at times which is why you loved it and Yedam for showing it to you.
The school’s greenhouse next to the school , almost every day you’d spend your lunch or free period there working on some different project or assignment to get ahead if you could. Which brought you to your current moment in the beautiful sanctuary.
With one leg crossed over the other you sat with your binder of notes beside you peering down at it as you sat on the somewhat comfortable bench in front of the rose bush.
“The key points on an essay that should never be missing are-“ You mumbled to yourself .
“You’re seriously studying that Again, I thought you were sure you had it down.”
You hadn’t heard , him usually you’d hear the pads of his shoes hitting the pavement as he ran to the greenhouse to meet wit you sometimes if he could catch you there, it was Yedam . You didn’t look up but you smiled and you knew he’d seen it as he sat next to you and your binder he leaned over kissing the very top of your forehead. It was a warm feeling always because he was so sweet and his kisses always showed that.
“Never hurts to double check , you know that don’t you , honey?” You teased releasing your eyes so that they’d look into his for a moment .
“You’ve got this already, I know it and you should to, you’re just that amazing with your memory.” He said in a savory voice lifting his hand to Rest on your own which definitely made you break eye contact with your book and focus on him. He was such a great boyfriend, he deserved it.
You sighed with a smile “How was practice for the showcase, still worried about being shakey on that note? Because you’ve got it already I’m telling you.” You assured your boyfriend.
He shook his head slightly with a smile “I don’t care about the note right now, and I don’t want you to care about these notes, just for a moment.” You scrunched your brows together confused as Yedam picked up your binder setting it on the opposite of himself and scooting closer to you providing more warmth that you didn’t mind at all. His arm softly draped around your shoulder and you got more comfortable by his side looking into his eyes with love written in your smiles as you gazed at each other before you laid your head on his shoulder and his head rested on yours .
“Other than the moment I showed you this place, I haven’t seen you ever be here and admire it.”
You nodded under him in agreement “I can’t remember when I have either.” You sort of felt bad because you knew he showed you the greenhouse so that’d you’d have a bit of peace for your mind and you did, but did you truly take it all in’ all it’s beauty? You weren’t sure.
“Take it in.” Is all he replied and so you did.
The different greens in leaves, the thorns on certain branches, different sizes of the plant pots, the tools for maintenance hanging near by , the tulips drizzling down certain walls, the smell of fresh dirt, it was so peaceful. Just you two and your greenhouse. That’s how it felt , like it was only yours and his, at ease.
You closed your eyes inhaling and exhaling. Yedam shifted a bit so that part of his lips were against the skin of your forehead. “This is your peaceful place, set everything else aside for a bit when you’re here.” He said softly , he knew you were listening you always did even if you were focused on work, another way he knew you’d succeed, great multitasking skills.
“You’re going to do great in life, don’t keep telling yourself different, it won’t stop you but it will make the journey harder. I know you can do it.”
His words echoed through your head. He was right, you could make it, it was a mind trick due to insecurity that told you that you couldn’t, Yedam had never lied to you so you knew he wouldn’t , not about this or anything else. Not about this moment.
He truly believed in you so you had to follow. It meant more if you believed in yourself but you felt good knowing that he was behind you one hundred percent so strongly.
You’d make it.

† genre: horror, fantasy
† word count: 3.6k
† warnings: death mentions, gaslighting/tricks, abduction, faes
† synopsis: her village had always maintained the peace through fire-and-brimstone fear tactics. though who could've known that old children's fable had some truth to it...
† (a/n): second installment to my spooktober anthology! if you haven't already, do check out biaswreckingfics thrills and chills vent, in particular her fae one which helped me gain inspiration for this one!

anthology | main masterlist
There had been rumors of the woods bordering the village. Of a great evil which lingered within its brush. Darkness somehow contained in the dense growth of trees that surrounded her people. That ages ago, children would go missing in the night, never to be heard from again. Their ghostly giggles seemed to resonate from the tangle of bark and leaves, luring in unaware or gullible children to their doom.
At least that's what was told to (y/n) and the rest of the children as they grew up. By the time she became a teenager, she had understood the intention of such tales. To deter children from wandering too close to the woods and its inhabitants: wolves, bears, perhaps even a dedicated rabid bunny. All dangers which lurked in their environment, inevitable in their existence, and so the only measure they could take was preventative. Ensure children were within the watchful peripheral of an adult, and therefore safe from nature and its cruelty.
Perhaps that's why she deemed it acceptable to gather the berries by the edge of the woods. It was all just a tall tale to ward off children either way. She was a grown adult now. Fully capable of fending for herself and accepting the consequences of her actions—although she made note to be quick in her foraging.
Pick the berries. Get out. Pick the berries. Get out.
Her mantra cycles listlessly through her head, becoming white noise as she filled her basket with the succulent delicacies she'd later use in her baking. The sun still beamed overhead, indicating the plentiful amount of time she had left of the day to be able to prepare some treats for her siblings.
As if by a grand coincidence, a familiar sound seemed to waltz through the air, greeting her ears with its comforting yet unexpected lilt.
"Nell?" (y/n) called out habitually, whirling around at the sound of her sister's familiar voice. Nothing. No one. The village was a fair distance away, with its usual hustle and bustle a mere muted drone to fill the otherwise still atmosphere. Definitely not close enough for her sister's voice to carry this far.
She waited another moment, eyes scanning the fields as if awaiting for Eleanor to pounce forth and startle her. Yet she was met with silence once more.
Perhaps it was her imagination. Her anxieties from being so near the woods manifesting itself in peculiar forms. Thus, she proceeded with her picking, though in an admittedly rushed manner.
Then, it happened again. Another round of giggles. This time, (y/n) shot to her feet, turning to stare out and await her sister's arrival.
"Nellie," (y/n) attempted to announce, eyes roving over the tall grass. "You know you shouldn't be out here. Mother will be displeased."
Silence.
The first time, she was able to chalk it up to mere paranoia. Though this time, it sounded almost too real to write it off as anything but her mischievous sister mucking about as per usual. However, she's never wandered out this far before in her jests.
Just as (y/n) was about to call her sister's name again, the giggle sounded forth once more. This time, right behind her.
(y/n) spun about, stumbling on her footing as she gasped at the sudden intrusion. Though when she turned, expecting to be greeted with her sister's conniving grin, she was met by none other than the woods, a mere foot away from her.
Memories of that accursed folktale came barreling to the forefront of her mind, twisting her stomach into knots as she stepped away from the trees. Even in the broad daylight, the darkness seemed all encompassing, swallowing anything and everything it seemed to get into its grasp. It was foreboding, an omen that held not even the slightest ounce of allure to (y/n), who continued to retreat from its beckoning.
"(y/n)." The hushed whisper of Eleanor's voice greeted her once more, this time certainly coming from within the woods. Her sister's exact voice. A perfect replica of it.
Again, (y/n) backed away, breath shaky as her shoulders trembled with fear. Any attempt to spot Eleanor peeking behind the trees proved fruitless due to that daunting abyss of black that consumed the woods as a whole.
"Where are you going?" The voice spoke again, a curious lilt in its tone, almost mocking in a way. (y/n) said nothing, steps widening as she kept her eyes trained on the trees.
Another giggle resounded. Gone was its joking undertones, almost entirely alien to the Eleanor she knew.
"You don't want to play?" It was a convoluted ploy, twisting her sister's words until it was a different person entirely. Another deeper voice seemed to intermingle with that of Eleanor's, overlapping in perfect syncrasy with one another.
Another gasp escaped her lips as the gravity of the situation began to truly settle in. The truth of it all dismantling every aspect of her belief system until nothing was left, uprooting her ideology until she questioned everything she once thought true.
Once the giggling began to fade away with distance, (y/n) finally turned around, making a run for the village, not daring to look back for even a moment.
Dinner was as rambunctious as it could be with a family of their caliber. Two young boys laughing and playing with their food, a father who seemed more than willing to partake in their shenanigans, a mother busy nursing the baby in her grasp, and the two eldest daughters off to the side. Eleanor laughed along with the bunch, presumably unbeknownst to her sister's forlorn demeanor since she had gotten back from her berry picking.
Though as they both prepared for bed in their shared room, Eleanor now seemed privy to her sister's silence.
"I didn't see you come back with berries," she began, voice cutting through the quiet of their room. (y/n) curled further into her sheets, attempting to push away the memories of earlier that day. Memories she never wanted to encounter again.
"I changed my mind." Eleanor chuckled at this, the familiar sound sending a shiver down (y/n)'s spine.
"Did the woods scare you off?" It was a joke, a subtle tease to prod at her sister, though at the lack of a response, Eleanor grew more stoic. "(y/n), you can't be serious. We're adults now, you should know fully well there's nothing in those woods. In all my years of living here, I've never once heard a wolf howl of any sort."
"It's not the wolves I fear," (y/n) muttered, burying her face into her pillow. Eleanor was stunned into silence for a moment, but then choked out another bout of laughs.
"Are you telling me you're scared of the fae? The story they'd tell us as kids to make us behave?" (y/n) was reluctant to respond, though this didn't deter Eleanor in the slightest. "(y/n), if it bothers you so much, allow me to go tomorrow and retrieve—"
"No." (y/n) was now sat up, staring at her sister across the room from her. The sternness in her voice shocked Eleanor, her smile slowly fading as she saw the pure, unadulterated fear lying beneath (y/n)'s gaze. "We're not going anywhere near those woods. Never again."
Days seemed to pass by without any other phenomenal hindrance. Though the memory of that day plagued her mind, and that sinister voice seemed to haunt her dreams, (y/n) continued with her life, however weary as she was. Her body was wrought with fear and it was beginning to take its effect. From simple mistakes accumulating into one big mess, it was clear (y/n) was not in her prime. Though there was nothing more she could do, what with this suffocating paranoia all but penetrating her every waking thought.
Her nightmares were as vivid as could be, and seemingly always followed the same sequence. (y/n) walking mindlessly into the brush, pushing aside branches and weaving between the trees which seemingly sprung up in her very path. And she continuously walked forth, as if on a predetermined trail ingrained in her mind. All the while, she could feel it—its stare. It watched her all throughout her journey, never sparing her a moment to herself. Suffocating her with its overbearing presence.
And at the end of her walk, her skin marred with scratches by twigs and rocks along the way, heart beating out of her chest, she'd step into a clearing. A grove of sorts. Dark and eerie, much like the rest of the woods, a canopy of dense branches overhead sparing only a few beams of sunlight into the ground. But in those rays of light, she'd see it approaching.
It took the form of a man, tall with long strides as he came forth. Handsome with deep eyes staring right into her, yet boyish features in a feeble attempt to lower her defenses. But no matter how fortified she made herself to be, it never seemed to do much once he got her.
A hand on her neck, squeezing in such a way that he could feel her pulse beating helplessly beneath his fingers and her breath growing frantic at the sudden obstruction. He contorted his body forward, crowding over her, consuming her space until there was nothing between them. A sickeningly sweet smile spread across his face, eyes manic as he laughed and he laughed and he laughed. A raucous crescendo into a deranged cackle, seizing at her every thought with its maniacal grasp.
And he'd keep her right there in that state, feeling her sanity slip away as she remained detained in his clutches for all the hours of the night. Taunting her, as if holding out her death, her sweet release from this torment, for another time. A time where he can truly have her all to himself.
Her nights were restless, her days vigilant, and at the end of it all, (y/n) was beginning to collapse in on herself. This was quite evident to her sister, the one who spent perhaps the most time with (y/n) in the first place, and as much as she tried to help, there was nothing she could do to derail her from this unending darkness she found herself collapsing into. All she could do was silently support her sister with reassurances and assistance—as much help as she could offer.
Though it was at times like these where the sisters' differences were truly apparent, and as (y/n) prepared dinner for the bunch, the barren absence of her sibling truly became apparent. With the lack of a helper in the cooking, (y/n) began worrying of where Eleanor may have run off to.
The paranoia only seemed to heighten as the table was set and the family was seated, all except the one chair across from (y/n). They were all understandably worried, though attempted to write it off as perhaps Eleanor getting caught up with something else. Perhaps a friend had invited her over and Eleanor forgot to inform the rest of them. Or maybe she was out helping one of her neighbors with a task.
But with the truth of the woods lingering perpetually in the recesses of (y/n)'s mind, she couldn't be sure of anything.
That night, (y/n) didn't sleep. She waited for her sister's arrival, something which never happened that night. And upon daybreak, (y/n) was certain this disappearance was the work of the nefarious evil of the woods. It was a certainty in her head.
However hesitant she was, the grief of having lost her sister consumed any ounce of reason or doubt within her, and with a brief farewell note upon the dining room table, she set out to seek Eleanor.
Along the way, neighbors gave brief but otherwise useless accounts of when they'd last seen her. The farmer's account validated each of (y/n)'s suspicions and fears.
"I'd seen her walk by the other day with a basket, heading out towards the fields. Didn't see her after."
Approaching the woods felt like visiting her recurring nightmares personally, yet no matter how real they seemed, they were nothing as compared to the true scene of it all.
A wall of trees towered over her, and at their feet lay that humble, lonesome berry bush. Beside it was both her basket she had abandoned long ago, somewhat tattered due to the natural elements it had faced over the past few days, as well as her sister's basket, toppled over with her picked berries pooling out and onto the grass.
The thought was bittersweet, guilt already riddling her body at the mere prospect that Eleanor may have gotten swallowed up by the woods whilst attempting to appease (y/n). As if the whole series of events they'd gone through were a result of her alone, yet as she neared the border of the woods, she knew it was not solely her doing.
She could feel her heart begin its tiresome beat, thudding violently against her ribcage. Her breathing was shaky as she stood there, a mere step away from the trees. Her feet seemed cemented to the ground where she stood, unable to back away nor finally break the threshold before her. Every fiber of her being screamed at her to turn back, to flee from these woods at all costs, but there was that debilitating guilt brewing within her. How could she live with herself if her sister truly did die in there?
Perhaps it was the guilt, or perhaps it was some blinding hubris which made her crave something from these trees—vindication, answers, release. Whatever it may be, the reason held her with an iron grip, and she remained where she stood, waiting; perhaps for some invitation of sorts.
"(y/n)..." the shaky voice of her sister alerted (y/n), a cold dread sinking into her being at the sound of Eleanor's voice—or more so that of a feeble replication of her voice… from right in front of her. As if she were speaking face to face with her sister. "(y/n), you came back for me."
The dense and dark brush obscured any attempts to see what stood before her, though the proximity of it had shivers running down her spine, tears pricking at her waterline at the sheer horror of it all. She remained silent, wary of whatever spectacle was being tried to lure her in. She could only compare the use of her sister's identity as something akin to a puppeteer exploiting its dolls. As if a mere guise for its audience.
It wasn't trying to lure her in anymore. It was taunting her.
Beneath the low whistle of the winds and the rustling on leaves all around, she could hear an unsettling yet rather distinct sound that made her blood grow cold. The deep and unmistakable sound of a man breathing, coinciding with whimpers of Eleanor's voice. Like he was only further proving her point of this whole charade being nothing more than a cruel mockery of her situation.
The noises grew more distant, sinking into the all encompassing embrace of the woods, daring her to enter alongside them. To finally become one with the woods and its victims—victims like her sister.
(y/n) took a tentative step forward, raising a weak arm above her to push aside the curtain of branches which concealed what lay ahead, and as she delved into the woods for the first, and perhaps the last time, she felt her world warp and twist into a demented wonderland of sorts. The trees, which from the beginning towered above her, seemed to only loom taller in their imposing stature. Shadows seemed to deepen into inky black pools of nothing all around her. Rustling leaves took on sinister murmurs, as if carrying along with it the voices of countless victims lost in these woods, as well as beckoning whispers to come further into the forest.
Her steps echoed with a hollow sound, reality seeming to distort with the discordant and ominous melody surrounding her. The further in she ventured, the more overpowering her fears seemed to become until its blinding and all encompassing existence had become the one thing she could fixate on. Her body prickled with nerves, a cool numbness tingling her skin as she willed her feet along, acutely aware of unseen eyes which probed her from the dark depths of the trees.
The air seemed to grow colder and colder, and she wasn't sure whether the trembles taking over her body were from her fear or the sudden temperature drop. Though there wasn't much room for thought, as obscure, yet ever so familiar, glimpses of the fae creature plagued the recesses of her mind, growing stronger and more vivid the further along she got, as if confirming the route she took. His malevolent grin flashed across her mind, shivering at the array of teeth ready to devour her, tormenting her as she progressed along.
Her breathing had slowly become unstable as she walked, the realization truly hitting her when she briefly turned around, only to have no idea where she had come from. What path she had taken mere steps before where she currently resided. As if the woods were swallowing her whole, refusing to ever let her slip by. And unwillingly, she proceeded forward into the never ending labyrinth, her mind somehow knowing exactly what to look out for.
It came sooner rather than later. The sudden clearing in the midst of it all. A small, unassuming grove of sorts, bordered by the impenetrable wall of trees that shrouded its existence from the rest of the world. There was an oppressive, deafening silence—a troubling realization for a forest of all things. Yet it didn't last long, as a low and distinct humming pierced through the stillness of the atmosphere, prompting her body to freeze up on the spot. It was melodic, dripping with a cruel and feigned saccharine that seemed to creep all about her.
Soon enough, he emerged. Tall as her dreams had portrayed him, with ethereal features unlike any she's seen before. His eyes were dark with an unmistakable edge that had haunted her dreams for many nights. His lips tugged into a smile as he stepped out of the shadows, and the full sight of him had (y/n) gasping. Tears welled up in her eyes at the image presented of the fae that had been targeting her. Watching her and tormenting her, driving her completely and utterly insane.
His dark eyes gleamed with a mischievous, unholy light, fixating upon her with an unsettling mixture of what seemed to be pure amusement and… hunger.
"(y/n)," he spoke, his smooth and deep timbre fitting perfectly with the rest of his personage, calling to her with his deceivingly sweet voice. "You've finally come to me."
His strides were wide as they carried him directly to her, and she was left to gawk up at him with whatever remaining bravado she may have had in her. His hands trembled as they carefully took in her loose hair, squeezing the strands between his fingers.
"I've been waiting… for so long." He leant down into her shoulder in an abrupt and aggressive manner. The sharp inhale he took had (y/n) jumping in her spot, tears freely falling down her face as he finally stepped back to stare at her, and she finally got to see him upfront for the first time. Making direct eye contact with the abomination of the woods.
His laughter burst forth in a raucous and chaotic way that had her wincing away as much as she could. Though the sounds soon dissipated as he opted on brushing her head with his large hand.
"Oh, your sister… Such a pity." He smiled again, eyes darting about to every square inch of her face, almost admiring her as one would an artwork.
"My… sister?" (y/n)'s voice was broken and mangled, barely above a whisper, though loud enough in the still quiet of the woods. He grinned at her words, a fond and appreciative smile that had her pulse quickening at the mere sight of it.
"Her fate was sealed the moment she ventured into my woods."
(y/n) felt her heart shatter at the news, throat constricting upon itself as she shut her eyes and openly wept. Her body seized in on itself, near the point of collapse had it not been for the fae who forcibly kept her standing upright against him.
"A useless thing, but her sacrifice was necessary for our meeting." Again, his voice was filled with such gentle kindness that it made her utterly sick to her stomach. The grief of losing her sister seemed the primary emotion wrecking her from within, to the point that the reality of her situation had yet to truly sink in, even as the fae continued to ravel himself around her until there was no way of escaping his grasp. "Don't worry, my precious, I won't hurt you like I did her."
He brushed away the tears staining her cheeks, ignoring the new streaks that replaced them either way, merely smiling down at (y/n) without a single care in the world.
"What are you going to do to me?" She asked, voice wavering with every syllable as her body shook with tremors. And the fae just continued with his merry demeanor, unperturbed by her clear dismay and debilitating terror.
"There are fates much worse than that of death. You've stepped into my domain. And now… you're mine forever."

Responsible - Chapter 1
Teu-ha!
First of all, I would like to dedicate this fic to my Ya! Chingu-ya @straykidsftw (who is also @atzbabyy and @inctlife ! Follow and read her fics!)
My Friend, thank you for putting up with me and for posting most of my requests. I return I gift this fic to you. I know you like Treasure and you’re the reason too why I started to like them. I hope you will like this.
This fic is on the future setting where all the members are already of legal age (that means Jung Hwan is already 20 here).
Warnings: so far none. But no smut (I assure you).
Treasure, a successful KPop group with 12 , 8 Koreans and 4 Japanese. Known for their heart fluttering performances, fine vocals and rap bars, not to mention their overflowing visuals. These men were able to capture the hearts of so many fans, be it boys, girls, in between, younger and older.
But off cameras these boys heart were captured as well. One of them is Haruto, the youngest of the Japanese members and main rapper of the group.
He was on vacation with Mashiho in Tokyo when he met the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, Gemma. The lady was also on vacation and happened to stumble each other on Shibuya crossing. She was on a hurry walking in between the thick crowd of pedestrians when she stumbled down when someone pushed her. Haruto and Mashiho were walking on the opposite direction and saw what happened and help her. With a sprained ankle they took her in the nearest hospital.
“Are you okay?” Haruto asked shyly.
“Yeah. You even bothered. Thank you so much for helping me.” She replied.
Luckily, it was not a major injury and Gemma can go home, or should we say go back to where she stays at the moment.
“Come on Ruto.” Mashiho nudged him with his elbows and Haruto, being shy, tried to offered to take her back to her hotel, which Gemma gladly accepted. Haruto smiled.
Haruto took Gemma to her hotel (Mashiho went home first because he needs to do something, which was more like leaving Haruto to fend for himself and muster up the courage to know the lady better.)
---
“So, how did it go?” Mashiho asked when Haruto arrived in his house.
“I just took her to her hotel and then left.” Haruto replied.
Mashiho smacked his head. “Just that? No ‘Can I take you on the date or something?’” and the younger man shook his head.
“You got her number, at least, didn’t you?”
“Uhm…no.”
“Ugh Watanabe Haruto! You are hopeless. If you will find her again, it will be because of destiny.” Mashiho said then sighed as he turns around to go back to his room to sleep.
And what a destiny it was.
They met again.
Now this time, in Seoul.
Treasure just got a lunch break from practice for their upcoming comeback and decided to eat at their favorite gimbap restaurant. That is when Haruto saw her walking out of a building adjacent to where they will eat.
“Hey!”
The lady turned around and said, “Oh. It’s you. What are you doing here?”
Haruto rubbed his nape being shy and all, “Uhm. My friends and I will eat here…and uhm…what about you? What are you doing here?”
“I’m teaching English for kids in this school.” She pointed at the building. “Oh. We never introduced ourselves by the way, I’m Gemma.” And she reaches out her hand and Haruto took it, a bit nervous.
“Ha-Haruto.”
“Well Haruto, it is nice to see you again. I must go back inside for my next class. Bye.” And she waved goodbye and the Japanese man waved back at her.
As he enters the restaurant, he saw all the eyes of his members looking at him.
“Well, looks like lover boy has found true love.” Jihoon started.
“It’s not what it looks like, hyung.” He said in his defense.
“Oh come on. We can see you’re whipped while talking to her.” Jeongwoo added.
“I am not!” Haruto said almost threatening his own bestfriend.
“Haruto. What did I told you about destiny?” Mashiho intervened.
“What do you mean ‘destiny’?” Jihoon asked.
“Oh. I haven’t told you yet.” Mashiho was grinning cutely ready to bring down his dongsaeng.
“Hyung! Don’t” Haruto tried to stop his hyung.
“They already meet in Tokyo during vacation. He even took her to her hotel---” and Haruto covered Mashiho’s mouth but it’s too late.
All his members were gawking and jaw dropped then started wolf whistling to him.
After the teasing, their orders came and they ate gladly.
Haruto was silently eating when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked to his side to see his Hyunsuk-hyung.
“Ruto, it’s okay to fall in love. But be responsible, okay?”
Haruto nodded as a promise. “Okay, hyung.”

yn silently sniffled, having gotten most of her more violent sobs out of her system, and now was merely shaking off the remaining bits of sadness which lingered.
She couldn't even decipher if it truly was sadness. Perhaps, like all things, it wasn't just a black and white matter, but a gray one almost.
Tears of sadness for the fact that she was so determined to denounce her friendship with Hyunsuk, revoke her feelings for him as if it were merely a bandaid which could be yanked off in one swift motion. Because it would allow her to run away from her feelings for at least a little bit longer. Though she never really stopped to consider Hyunsuk's perspective. Mainly due to the fact that it seemed so otherworldly to even assume Hyunsuk would ever truly like her.
Hyunsuk.
The man who swept away the audience tonight.
The man who was loved by the entire student population, including herself.
The man who for some reason truly did love her right back.
Tears of joy, that at the end of it all, after all of her self deprecating thoughts and ceaseless doubts, he came forth and stood as an exception. A testament of what she believed could never occur in her lifetime. He looked at her, and his gaze alone seemed to carry the intensity of one thousand suns, his utter devotion to yn at that very moment near staggering that if she were to have been standing, she most likely would have collapsed from the sheer vigor in his stare.
Another sniffle came from her as she smiled. Stray tears still slid down her face as she pressed her forehead onto the cold glass beside her.
Tears of frustration. Frustration at herself, that even with all of this laid out before her, she still felt that inner conflict. Even as Hyunsuk had given her his feelings, shown her exactly what she had been silently speculating on, she still felt confused. Confused on why he could ever like her, confused on what she was to do, confused on what would happen now.
Hurting Hyunsuk was the last thing she wanted to do, but at this point, she didn't know which route to take. Whether to deny him immediately, or accept and give him a broken heart later on. Just as Albrecht had suffered when Giselle's own heart had failed on her.
And as she silently wished for some reprieve, a conclusion to this torrent of emotions and thoughts, a knock at the door brought yn back to the present, glancing over and seeing Hyunsuk peeking through the now ajar entryway of the classroom.
"Hyunsuk?" She spoke lowly, sitting up in surprise whilst wiping away the moisture on her face. "What are you doing here?"
He blinked, taking in her form in the lowlight offered from the hallway. And as calmly as ever, he padded closer to her, gentle smile adorning his face.
"Well, I lost you for a bit," he began, sinking onto the empty spot beside her on the windowsill. His eyes had wandered away from yn, now staring at his crossed hands over his lap. "I was worried."
"I'm sorry…" She whispered, but he shook his head.
"I found you at the end, so it's okay."
It was silent for a moment, yn watching as he twiddled his thumbs absentmindedly, back pressed against the window. He had a serene expression, almost monotone if it weren't for the gentleness of his eyes, as if finally resting after having found her. She bit her lip, feeling another wave of tears threaten to expel from her, yet she still found herself asking the question, weakening her resolve ever so slightly.
"Is it true?" He glanced over to her as she spoke, eyebrows lifted in confusion. "That… it was for me?" Hyunsuk snickered, a soft, breathy laugh as he heard her words.
"Well, that depends on whether you liked it or not." He joked, though after seeing her still staring expectantly, he sighed, calming himself before proceeding. "It was."
There was a beat of silence as he answered, biting down on his lips after his confession.
"Like I said, I felt I really resonated with Albrecht. I understood him. I understood how in love with Giselle he was. That he loved her so tragically, he wound up killing her with it. And at the end, rather than resenting him, she forgave him, understood him, and loved him just as much."
He tilted his head, eyes trained on the small space between them, his fingers scraping at the chipping paint.
"I just… She reminded me so much of you." yn's breath stuttered, brows creasing as she heard his words. A tear had already slid away, but she hoped he wouldn't notice, eyes averted away from her. "She was so kind and vibrant in everything she did. Loved by everyone. So passionate in dancing that not even her mom could talk her out of it, even though she knew it was detrimental to her heart."
Hyunsuk smiled, smoothing his thumb over the windowsill, the brown spot now revealed beneath the white paint.
"She was so brave in everything she did. Even after she died, standing up to the willies to protect Albrecht. So forgiving, to protect the man who literally brought her to her death."
He paused for a moment, sinking into his thoughts before continuing.
"So yes. It was. It was all for you." He concluded, grinning as he finished stating everything he thought he needed to say. "I guess it's not really necessary since it's so obvious, but I really do lo–" He stopped as he looked up, smile fading away as he saw streams of tears coursing down yn's face, her shoulders shaking as she tried to hold herself back, but failed nevertheless.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He shuffled closer to her, sliding his arms around her and pulling her against him, where she began to outright sob, body trembling with the overwhelming emotions all but attacking her at once.
Sadness, joy, frustration.
Guilt, doubt, fear.
Yearning, anxiety, stress.
Yet as she buried herself into Hyunsuk's chest, cheek pressed against his rapidly thudding heart, the material of the jacket she sewed for him rubbing against her face, she found one overarching emotion. One which trumped all the others. One which was there the entire time. One which she had disregarded in lieu of the others, though now ran rampant, belittling everything within her as it stood triumphantly at the forefront of her person.
"I love you." She mumbled against him, draping her arms around his torso and holding him close. Her tears were endless, soaking the white cloth beneath her, though she couldn't care less. She ripped off that bandage, and instead of running away, she clung harder onto him, bearing her emotions to Hyunsuk.
Shudders ran up and down her body, her breathing growing heavier as the silence grew longer and longer. And when she was about to pull away, the second thoughts plaguing her mind, making her believe that she had misinterpreted everything and he truly did not love her, she felt his hand rest on her shoulder.
A soothing rub that seemed to quell her anxieties, until then his other joined, slowly bringing her against him. His forehead pressed into her hair, moisture seeping through her follicles as he himself cried at her words.
"I love you, too." He laughed in disbelief, pulling her until she was nestled in between his legs, cradling yn with a wide, adoring smile. She followed suit, laughing through her tears as she momentarily pulled away, gazing up at his now reddened face.
"Why are you crying?"
"I literally perform an entire ballet I've dedicated to you, you disappear off the face of the earth, everyone is on a manhunt looking for you, I'm the one who finds you crying in an empty room, and after telling you everything I feel about you, you cry even harder." He explains, smile never leaving his face as he sputters out the events of his night. "I'd be more surprised if I had come out of all this NOT crying."
"I'm sorry," She mumbled, resting her face in his neck to try and hide her grin, but he could feel the warmth of her cheeks pressing into his jaw.
"You're forgiven."
They remained like that for a few more moments, thriving in each other's warmth, cherishing the sudden calm after the storm. Though her many emotions still stirred within her, worries of what was to come later on, she allowed herself to rest, slowly but surely processing everything. Understanding that the person she rested against, whose presence once felt near daunting, though now was the most comforting soul in her life, was indeed her…
"Hyunsuk…" She whispered, to which he hummed. "What are we?"
"We're…" He paused, voice suddenly stopping as he stiffened beneath her. "Oh…" After a silence passed, Hyunsuk leapt to his feet, dragging yn with him until they stood before each other, hands tangled in the others as he looked down to her. His tears had long dried since before, reverting back to the happy form she was so accustomed to. And with that endearing grin of his, he squeezed her hands in his. "yn, I feel like I'm doing everything backwards. Dedicating something I've worked tirelessly on to you and only you, then confessing my love for you, and now…" She giggled alongside him, the both of them feeling terribly nervous, though disregarding their current concerns as he pressed on. "yn… Would you grant me the honor… of allowing me to be your boyfriend?"
She broke out into a fit of laughter, smiling so wide it almost hurt as she nodded frantically, a fluttery sensation overwhelming her as he pulled her closer, pressing his forehead onto hers as they revealed in the moment. The peace which settled amongst them after bearing their emotions, professing their love for one another.
"Can I do one thing in the correct order?" He asked, to which she nodded.
He pulled his head away from hers, lifting his hand to her chin and tilting her head back to look at him. He paused, taking a moment to gaze into her eyes, a smile twitching onto his face with every passing second. He gravitated closer to her, pressing his nose to hers as he gave her a moment to separate, to back away if she truly didn't want this.
If she didn't want him.
Yet instead, she turned her head to the side, silently granting him permission to lean forward, pressing his lips to hers in a gentle kiss. A soft exchange filled with smiles and touching, his hand brushing her face and pulling her closer to him, her arms wrapped around him in a tender embrace. And as simple as it was, it felt like the last piece of the puzzle in her mind, Hyunsuk's pure adoration for yn being spoken so clearly through his actions, as if a silent assurance to soothe her remaining worries.
That he's just as lost as her, though so very happy she gave him a chance. That he understands her fears, promising he'd never hurt her for as long as he lives, and then some. That through all of her doubts and anxieties, the one constance she can be sure of is that he truly, genuinely, undoubtedly loves her with all of his being.
And even after they separated, locking eyes once more, his promises continued to soothe her heart, unspoken yet so very present that it was undeniable.
She'd chosen to follow her heart, and he was going to make sure she would never regret her decision.

yn was seated in the auditorium, precisely at the center, as Hyunsuk had once informed her of how it was the "best seat in the house." People gradually trickled in, taking their seats amongst friends and family, speaking lowly as to not disturb the atmosphere. The lights shone down upon the red velvet interior of the room, from the seats refurbished with the lavish fabric to the carpets which lined the walkways all along the aisles. Some of the faces around her seemed familiar, though many were new, people of the community coming to support their local arts. In the distance at the front end of the auditorium, yn saw two people she knew as Hyunsuk's friends; Byounggon and Seunghun, excitedly whispering to one another in anticipation.
She smiled at this, the thought of Hyunsuk's friends supporting him so wholeheartedly. He deserved that support system. He deserved to know that he had people with him always. Because like he said, being on stage, looking out into a sea of countless faces, yet not being able to discern anyone, it becomes near haunting. And even the mere thought of your friends being out there can seemingly diminish that stress by a minute degree. yn's friends weren't present, Isla currently backstage doing makeup while the other two, Honi and Lotus, were studying for an upcoming exam. So yn sat silently and patiently, body stiffening every time someone passed her row, hoping she'd be allowed to watch Hyunsuk in peace without someone invading her personal space.
Though at the same time, perhaps she needed that sort of distraction. A diversion from the endless train of thoughts in her head. She was planning on cutting off Hyunsuk. Not because she hated him, though rather for quite the opposite. She wasn't ready for this development, these rapidly formed emotions stirring within her striking a subtle panic in her heart, a nervous thrum of adrenaline coursing through her veins as she deliberated on what to tell him after the fact. Does she tell him the truth? That she's grown to like him to an uncomfortable degree? That he remains in her thoughts, either at the forefront of her mind, demanding her attention from whatever task she was partaking in, or as merely a subtle inkling, a tiny glimmer of adoration comfortingly lingering behind the scenes as she went about her day. They had only spoke for less than a month, of course he'd most likely be startled by such a confession and therefore leave on his own. It seemed like a valid route, and yet yn felt fear. The natural fear imbibed in a person when it comes to rejection. To offer your heart to someone, only to have it shattered as your love and all you can offer is inevitably denied. It was irrational, to neither want Hyunsuk to be in her life any longer though also to not want him to abandon her. And as she deliberated on these thoughts, her frenzied thoughts conspired to form a secondary plan.
Lying.
Plain and simple. There were many potentials she could use, to both give him closure, albeit misleading, and to solve her own dilemma. A win-win if there ever was one, right? She could tell him that as the project was now completed, they no longer had to stay in contact. She could tell him she'd like to focus more on her degree. She could gradually cut him off, decrease their talk times until he doesn't even notice that she hasn't messaged him, or perhaps drive him away through talking so much that he goes insane and quite literally blocks her from his life. All horribly thought out ideas, and yet seemed so much more plausible than telling the truth.
The truth was scary, a heavy burden unto her shoulders, pressing her down and reminding her of what she holds. And she could either tell her truth, to share her burden with another, dividing the load and carrying it together. Or she could continue to persevere with this strain, saving the other from having to hold such a massive weight, instead saving the misfortune for herself. She couldn't find it in herself to tell such a thing to Hyunsuk. To force him into rejecting her, a trial almost as painful as receiving said deed. So reasonably, one of the many lies she conjured would be the more acceptable thing to share with her soon to be former friend.
"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" Glancing up rapidly, forgetting briefly where she resided, she was now face to face with none other than Yonghee, a classmate of hers, though also a close friend of Hyunsuk's.
"Oh, not at all, my friends are all busy anyway," She explained gesturing to the seat he stood before.
"Would you mind if I kept you company then?" She shook her head as he took his seat, sighing as he glanced over to the two aforementioned boys at the front waiting for the ballet to start. "I really don't want to sit next to those two. They don't know how to conduct themselves in these performances." yn laughed, already envisioning the raucous the two will make for Hyunsuk, especially considering he was a lead role in the show.
"How'd your costume come out?" yn asked, easily making conversation with the familiar boy beside her.
"It went surprisingly well, I think? Mina wound up liking it a lot, so that made me happy." Yonghee grinned, proud at his accomplishment. "I'll point it out to you when she comes into stage."
"Okay. I don't think I have to point out my creation." Yonghee laughed at her words, shaking his head as he settled.
"I feel like I've seen it more times than my own work. Really good job, by the way. As always, the gifted yn has blessed the earth with another creation of hers." She snorted, elbowing the boy and leaning back in her chair. "Speaking of, do you mind if I ask you a personal question?" She turned over to him, seeing his eyes earnestly staring back, brows furrowed in worry. Hesitantly, she nodded, pressing him to continue. "What did Hyunsuk do that caused you to distance yourself from him?"
Her mouth dried in almost an instant, heart stuttering at the question at hand. Gulping, she shrugged her shoulders.
"He didn't do anything at all. As cliche as it may sound, this really is on me." She fiddled with the hem of her sweater, avoiding Yonghee's gaze lingering on her. "I'm planning on explaining that to him after the performance. I hate that he feels so guilty about this when he's completely innocent."
"That's good. He'll be really excited to hear from you." She nodded, smiling gratefully at his words. "You know, it's not really my story to tell, but Hyunsuk really cares about you, yn." He paused tilting his head to get another gander at her face tucked down and facing her lap. "I'm sure you know that already, right?" yn glanced over at Yonghee again, his genuine eyes peering into her, prodding at her conflicted heart, as if offering her something that truly isn't there. It had to be a farce. That knowing glint, the fond twitch of a smile, like he's so positively sure of something, something she can't quite grasp. Yet before she could question his motives, the lights began to dim as the orchestra came to life.
As the music progressed, the crimson curtains separated, unveiling the quaint stage scene of a village. Soon after, Jinyoung appeared, prompting two not-so-anonymous cheers at the front of the audience, as well as two silent snickers from yn and Yonghee. His presence was strong as he started off the ballet, easily portraying the story to someone as inexperienced as yn. She could see his yearning as he approached the right most cottage, the way he poured his love for the inhabitant within upon a flower, pressing the object against the house before turning away and fleeing from the scene.
yn's heart fluttered when Hyunsuk soon appeared, dazzling smile on display upon the stage as he made his presence known. He wore a tattered suede vest atop a loose fitting cotton long sleeve; his peasant attire for the first act, hiding his true peerage status. That passion yn had quickly associated with him was once more present, his soft, graceful movements across the stage being nothing short of that of a nobleman's; he seemingly embodied his role so perfectly. She found it hard to believe that this was the same man who would text her in a panic at midnight about his Bagel Bites burning his tongue. And yet as Giselle appeared, Hyunsuk rushing forth in a love driven manner, she could see the professionalism practically oozing out of him. The way he danced alongside her, touch ever so gentle in every movement. Even as his character seemingly grasped her arm, luring her back to his grasp, he did it in such a soft way, hands gracing her bodice like feathers.
Even from where she sat, his eyes spoke so brilliantly of his emotions. His immeasurable devotion to the peasant girl he had fallen so madly in love with. The overwhelming joy when she finally accepted him. yn could see what he meant regarding the plot.
The Duke truly did live through his heart. His every action almost on a whim, though it really wasn't. To live through the mind, one naturally goes through a series of thoughts. First thought, second thought, until finally reaching the conclusion best fit for you. To live through your heart, you follow it recklessly, throw your entirety into this endeavor, leaving you with both nothing and everything. To believe the heart acts 'on a whim' is a mere concomitant to the natural mind-driven manner humanity lives by.
And while the Duke lived through his heart, Giselle lived only ever through her mind. Her heart was far too fragile to be thoughtlessly devoting her entirety to just any passing desire. The way she spent so long deliberating on the Duke's confession, struggling to decide whether to defend her poor heart or to leave it in his care. And he persistently lingered by her, reminding her of his love, and promising her of it. Promising he'll take care of her, dedicate his everything to her. Even using such childish ploys as removing the petals of a flower, so when she picked it apart, weighing in her options, the final answer would settle upon him. And when she accepted, the way the two were so exuberant, beaming and prancing about together in a love crazed daze.
Jinyoung soon appeared, shocked upon seeing Giselle with another man, and as the two nearly fought over the poor girl, Hyunsuk reached for his hip, right where his sword would have been had he worn his usual noble attire. Two loud gasps sounded above the orchestra, causing yn to snort and Yonghee to groan at his two friends causing more unnecessary raucous. Jinyoung's character took note of Hyunsuk's actions, backing away and fleeing the scene, allowing the two lovers to once more prance about the stage in glee of their sudden betrothal.
Watching Hyunsuk in such a lovestruck stupor, clinging to Giselle throughout their entire merriment, seemed to affect yn more than she had expected. Watching his doting gaze fall upon the girl, the way he beamed endlessly whilst dancing his heart out, even parting from her seemed to be more taxing to him than any other trial in life. yn couldn't help but envision herself in the peasant's place. To be so wholesomely loved by him, to be able to confidently toss away her inhibitions, to break free from the restraints of the mind's doubt and willingly pursue what the heart so desperately wants. That aching tug upon her heart as Hyunsuk disappeared backstage, fleeing from the scene as trumpets began to sound, alerting the entry of another group, primarily one which Hyunsuk was seemingly avoiding.
With his absence, yn fiddled with her hands, smoothing her thumbs over her fingernails as her mind continued to spiral into an endless sea of thoughts. Was she doing the right thing? Was she too into her head to think clearly? Like delving into the ocean, it seemingly grows vaster and deeper than anticipated, almost to the point of no escape. And much like that, were her thoughts muddling her consciousness, preventing her from seeing past her doubts, her anxieties, her fear of what's to come, even if it were only mere potentials of what could be?
She'd wonder what her heart wanted, but she was afraid she already knew the answer for much longer than she would have liked to admit.
But Giselle, with her ever fragile heart, so susceptible to fatality upon matters such as this, so willingly succumbed to the Duke's advances, falling in love with him with reckless abandon. She was so sure of his love, so sure of his fidelity. Reasonably, Jinyoung was the more suitable companion of the two. Reliable, enamored by her, loved by the town, trustworthy. If the ordeal were to be wholly answered by the mind alone, Giselle would have gone with the beloved gamekeeper. Yet that's not what this was about. This was an endeavor of the heart, and as such, Giselle chose the riskier route, the choice that struck fear into yn, though also envy. Envy in seeing that the choices she feared had granted Giselle what she craved so desperately, deep within the hollows of her own heart.
Was she ready to delve in such precarious depths? Escape the fog of her mind, the barriers of her anxiety shielding her from reaching her own personal nirvana.
Jinyoung's character reappeared, glancing about the emptied stage nervously before approaching Hyunsuk's cottage at the far right. He tentatively knocked, awaiting an answer, but receiving none. He leant forward, pressing his ear against the wooden frame. Once more, nothing. Cautiously, he slid the window open, reaching his hand in and grasping an object.
Hyunsuk's sword.
Once more, Byounggon and Seunghun broke the silence of the audience, voices carrying over the orchestra.
"Oh shit."
yn slapped a hand over her mouth, leaning onto Yonghee to catch her bearings as he sighed deeply, trying to contain his secondhand embarrassment for his friends. Quickly, Jinyoung stowed the weapon away once more, fleeing from the scene as the hunting party arrived, making their presence known unto the unexpecting villagers. Yonghee rapidly tapped yn's arm, alerting her to the stage.
"There's Mina, that's my dress!" yn lowly gasped, watching as Mina approached the front end of the stage, adorning a long, elegant gown while she graced the length of the floor.
"Yonghee, that's incredible, wow." He shook his head.
"Don't be too impressed. I used cheap fabric, and the seams inside are messy as shit." She giggled at this, rolling her eyes at his behavior. She began insisting that his final product was still as perfect as ever, whispering the details she especially liked regarding the dress until Giselle emerged from her cottage, greeting the nobles at the center of town. Mina looked upon the girl with adoration for her sweet and demure demeanor, the two bonding over their engagements, and so Mina gifted Giselle a necklace. It was a sweet exchange, one of comradery, a union between the two classes, as if a comforting promise to the audience: that Duke Albrecht and Giselle could eventually overcome such class differences and be together at the end of it all. As if all of Giselle's worries would fade away, that Albrecht wouldn't have to hide such a secret from his love and they'll live happily ever after.
Soon, the hunting party departed allowing the villagers to commence with their celebration. However, Jinyoung came rushing forth, frantic almost as he demanded Giselle's attention. He accused Hyunsuk of not being who he says he is. She denied Jinyoung, having given Hyunsuk all of her trust. Jinyoung then made his way to Hyunsuk's cottage, revealing the finely crafted sword hidden away. She was visibly startled by this, looking to Hyunsuk for answers, but he was too preoccupied, angered by Jinyoung who foiled his scheme. Though just before he could properly initiate a fuel with him, Jinyoung unveiled a horn, pressing it to his mouth and sounding out a bellow into the air. Seconds later, the hunting party had reappeared, with it, the Prince, revealing himself to be Hyunsuk's father, as well as Mina, who looked upon Hyunsuk with confusion, questioning why her fiance was dressed as a peasant.
Before his entire cabinet of royals and advisors, he reached forth for her hand, begrudgingly pressing a kiss upon her knuckles right in front of Giselle. yn flinched at the scene, seeing the anguish soon take over Giselle as she separated the two, realizing that not only did her new friend have the same fiance as her, but that she had trusted Albrecht so sincerely, only for him to betray her as such. Hyunsuk looked to Giselle, a desperation in his eyes as he attempted to explain himself, but she was too distraught, collapsing in on herself and regretting ever believing in his love. Soon, she fell upon the floor, lifeless. Hyunsuk, in a broken, defeated manner, crouched down to her level, gathering the limp body of his former lover. And just like that, the curtains began to close, signalling the intermission between acts.
yn remained still, throat dry after what she had witnessed. The consequences of pursuing the dreaded route of the heart, of foregoing reason and sensibility for such a fleeting thing as love. To think she was actually reconsidering everything she had once thought to be rational, that maybe, just maybe, if she truly confessed to Hyunsuk, he'd accept her wholeheartedly.
No.
It was never that easy.
"yn, are you okay?" Yonghee whispered, seeing the now frozen girl staring holes into the velveteen curtains separating her from the man plaguing her thoughts. Startled, she turned to Yonghee, suddenly remembering where she was at the moment.
"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm just going to use the bathroom." Before he could say anything else she leapt to her feet, rushing down the aisle and out of the auditorium. The concession area was barren at the moment, allowing her to seek refuge in the restroom without any prying eyes seeing the stray tears pouring down her face. Looking in the mirror, her face appeared monotonous, maybe flustered somewhat, but definitely not correlating to the influx of moisture all but streaming down her cheeks. Every swipe was redundant, as another flow of tears would come and seize the dried area.
She felt so conflicted, so terrified. She didn't know what to do. She thought she knew what she wanted. She thought she could handle this situation easily, yet why was it so difficult for her? He's just a boy. And she was perfectly content with her life before he waltzed into it. So why was the thought of returning back to her normal schedule so daunting? As if he ruined any form of normalcy she had once achieved, and reverting back to her former life would be nothing more than a facade on her part.
How could she allow herself to fall so desperately for him? It was only a minor attraction, when did it become such a paramount plight? Where her decision at the end can either give her the happiness she didn't know she needed, or spiral her into a darkness she did not want to acquaint herself with.
Frustrated, she sunk her head into her hands, allowing the silent sobs to wrack her body. She wasn't ready for such heartbreak. She could already feel her heart shattering within the walls of the room, splintering into unidentifiable shards, too risky to touch, let alone try and put back together.
She didn't want to go back out there. She didn't want to sit there and watch Giselle live out the same reality as she. She didn't want to watch Albrecht live his life happily without her, reverting back to his noble status, completely forgetting about the poor peasant girl he had once briefly fancied. She didn't want to see Hyunsuk abandon Giselle.
She didn't want Hyunsuk to abandon her.
Knocking at the door brought yn back to the present, drying her eyes and patting away the moisture on her face as she slipped out, apologizing to the line of women waiting to use the restroom. Peeking into the auditorium, yn could see Seunghun and Byounggon sitting in the row in front of Yonghee, turned around in order to talk to him. They were smiling, most likely talking about the performance thus far. At least they seemed to rather enjoy themselves. Taking a breath in, yn marched forth, making her presence known whilst sliding into the center row, greeting the boys as she took her seat once more.
"Are you okay?" Yonghee asked softly, turning his body to face her. She nodded, waving him off before directing her attention back to the two in front of her.
"How are you guys liking the ballet?" Byounggon laughed with glee, leaning back as he recounted his favorite aspects of it. Not so surprisingly, most of their comments were in regards to both the orchestra and their dear friends.
"Jinyoung was quite Hilarion," Seunghun let out before wheezing, clutching onto his seat as the rest of them practically glared at the boy. "You get it? Hilarion? His character's name is Hilarion? It sounds like hilarious–"
"We get it," Yonghee cut him off.
"I wish I didn't," yn shot back, prompting a snort from Byounggon who only laughed harder once Seunghun raised his head, showing how offended he looked upon her words. The lights soon began to dim, causing the boys to scramble out of the row and back to their seats.
"Okay, I'm sorry I keep asking," Yonghee muttered as the composer stepped into his podium once more. "Are you sure you're okay?" yn smiled, nodding at Yonghee's concern.
"I'm really okay." Though she knew inside she wasn't, Yonghee's worry for her seemed to settle those rampant anxieties just a bit. And as the music finally kicked in and the curtains separated, yn begrudgingly returned to being transfixed by the callout that was Giselle.
The setting had morphed, shifting from a vibrant yellow color scheme to an entirely blue atmosphere. Gone was the lively village in lieu of a dreary, dark forest. And at the forefront, on the right of the stage where her cottage once resided, was the grave of Giselle. Crouched before her was Jinyoung, weeping woefully upon the death of the one he loved. yn couldn't help but commend Jinyoung for his performance thus far, softly nodding her head as he poured his feelings out as such. Though soon enough, he leapt up, startled by a distant sound and rushing off deep into the woods and off the stage.
yn gasped as an entire flock of ballerinas fluttered onto stage, all wearing similar white ensembles, though each with a differing pattern to it. Yonghee and her patted each other to get the other's attention, whispering about the outfits and who did what. Even from her seat, she could see how thorough each fit was, the variation of each dancer adding to a larger picture. It was a beautiful sight, the hard work of all of her classmates compiled into such a graceful, elegant scene such as this dance of the wilis. They soon departed, leaving the stage briefly empty as Hyunsuk finally arrived.
He wore a dark cloak as he cautiously approached Giselle's grave, distress written across his eyes as he softly grieved for his departed lover. yn furrowed her brows, not expecting such a reunion as this. She assumed Act 2 would be a mere wrap up of the first act, tying up loose ends, showing Albrecht happily marrying his fiance, Hilarion meeting another lady, Giselle's mother grieving though still persevering. Yet here he was. The man who practically initiated her inevitability, personally sparked the flames of her death, collapsed unto the stone slab, weeping at the loss of Giselle. He was so terribly distraught, as anyone would be if they lost their true love. Did he truly love Giselle? Was he not just a mere philanderer?
Giselle soon sprouted forth from her grave, a white ensemble much like the other wilis– the other women who had died in vain upon an unforeseen broken heart. And Hyunsuk looked up at her, adoration pouring forth from him as he scrambled to his feet, releasing his dark cloak of mourning for his white suit.
The one yn made.
"It looks amazing, yn," Yonghee whispered, nudging her as Hyunsuk approached Giselle, only for her to flee from him. He continued with this venture, pursuing her with such desperation, a man yearning so forlornly for something he can never truly grasp again. A fleeting glimpse of his other half, grazing past him, yet never truly touching. For as near as the two could ever be, they were forbidden from ever truly uniting. A tragic scene if there ever was one.
Giselle floated away, briefly leaving Albrecht alone just as the queen of the wilis suddenly appeared. Hyunsuk ducked away, hiding as Hilarion barreled onto stage once more, exhausted and delirious from being lost in the woods. In a near haunting phase of events, the other wilis pranced onto stage, trapping Jinyoung where he stood. And as per the queen's demands, they forced the boy to dance until he could no longer, collapsing onto himself but being forced to rise once more on his sore legs, the throbbing torment thrumming throughout his body bringing near tears to his eyes. And just as he could no longer stand, his movements now a pathetic attempt at obeying the queens orders, the wilis grabbed him, dragging him to the back of the stage and tossing him into the river, successfully drowning him where he stood.
"Oh, damn," Seunghun sounded out, breaking yn from her shock of the graphic scene.
The wilis frolicked away, allowing Hyunsuk a brief window to escape, but was tragically intervened by the queen halting him, summoning her squadron to reappear, Giselle alongside them. The girl tossed her body against Hyunsuk's, shielding him from the anguished women who attempted to kill him like they did Hilarion. Yet in these moments, past her final moment, well into her afterlife, she protected him. The man who shattered her heart, led her to her own demise, a reminder of what could never be. She danced beside him, allowing him to embrace her, cherishing this night as if it were their last.
Because once the sun rose, and the wilis all faded away with the arrival of dawn, so did Giselle. A final embrace upon Hyunsuk, a last touch, ever so brief, as she returned to her grave, sinking into the ground with one final goodbye. A flower left for Albrecht.
He brought the flower to his chest, softly pressing the piece against his heart as the sunlight shone down upon him. A sign of life, a reminder that he was given another day to live. A sigil of remembrance for Giselle, for what she had given to him.
Love. All of her love. Her entire heart, with no more regrets. She loved him like no one had ever loved before. To the point of tragedy, and then after. A forever type of love. And as Hyunsuk's head slowly rose, thumb softly stroking those gaudy gold trimmings along his neck that yn had initially hated, she suddenly realized everything.
From the moment she stepped foot into this auditorium, perhaps even beforehand, this was for her.
This was Hyunsuk's message to her.
This was his confession.
His eyes landed upon her. Through the blinding stage lights, the all encompassing darkness of the audience, the sea of those blackened faces Hyunsuk felt so intimidated by, he saw her. His eyes shone with desperation alongside a familiar sparkle yn had grown to associate with the boy. Though now, that sparkle seemed to be much clearer as his message unveiled itself.
Endearment. Devotion. Passion. All traits which defined Hyunsuk and his entirety, now targeted to her and her alone. Gone was Albrecht's persona, replaced now with the sweet boy who had all but captured her heart. Though as she thought it out, was there ever a difference between the two? A man who loved so sincerely, so deeply, so foolishly that he'd overcome such differences between the two in the name of love. They were both so stupid, yet at the end of it all, though separated for eternity through a difference far greater than what had originally obstructed their paths, they still loved one another. Their love which transcends all known trials. Though not perfect, it was their very own form; perfect for them.
Hyunsuk's eyes stayed upon her, conveying his every thought in those brief moments as the orchestra silenced, the instruments halting simultaneously, filling the vacuum with a harmonious ring, dissipating as the crowd broke that tranquility, erupting into applause and cheers. His gaze felt like hot wax, dripping onto her body, imprinting her with its burning vigor. A heat which would seem to remain after washing off. As the curtains began to slide shut, a darkness on either side of Hyunsuk rapidly approached him, soon to cut him off from her sights. She panicked for a moment, as if watching her loved one die before her, though it wasn't until he truly did disappear behind the sheets of velvet that her trepidation was all for naught. With his presence removed, his comfortingly piercing eyes away from her now, she felt both relief and dismay.
Relief that the near invasiveness of his gaze was no longer upon her. As if he unraveled her every inner thought, her every secret. Feelings which not even she was familiar with, yet he seemed near fluent in her everything as he pressed her for more with his eyes.
Dismay, for now he was gone. Fear that he not only saw her everything, but wanted nothing of it. That he looked so deep into her heart, saw her every anxiety, her every joy, her true feelings laid out for him to collect, and he instead abandoned her. Though she knew deep down that was not true, that the sudden emptiness clawing within her was just a mere side effect of her former anxieties and was in no regards correlated to Hyunsuk's intensity suddenly revoked from her.
"That was amazing," Yonghee commented, leaning back with a content sigh as he mulled over the show. "Definitely worth the effort we put in. They all looked fantastic."
"They did, they did," She agreed, voice cracking for a second from having been so preoccupied. Yonghee glanced her way, giving a subtle grin before looking back at his lap.
"We're really glad you stayed and watched. Hyunsuk had been so stressed about your absence. He said this was his way of apologizing for what he may have done to hurt you." She looked up at Yonghee, her eyes brimming with tears as he proceeded. "He said this was his response to you. He basically dedicated his performance to you. We all thought that was really sweet."
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry. Please forgive me." She leapt to her feet, overcome by emotion, fresh tears racing down her face as she ran out of the auditorium, Yonghee calling out to her as she fled the scene.
