Yolopark's B-127 arrived today. I don't have a spot on my shelf for him or anything like that. His panels are a pain in my ass when I pose him. And the fact the faceplate was screwed in caused me some grief. But overall, he's a really cute and accurate depiction of Bee from Transformers One.

Hopped on the Yolopark train and got myself a ROTB Bumblebee. Mine arrived broken, with the lower left chest armour piece snapped off and missing, which must have happened in the factory before packaging as it was not in the box. I am an avid Toy Polloi watcher, though, so instead of doing something logical like contacting Yolopark for a replacement, I just made him one from styrene sheets. After some paint and a thorough silver drybrush and black/brown wash, I don't think he looks too bad. I went slightly farther into "just crawled out of the depths of a junkyard" than I really meant to, but I'm not upset about it.

Yolopark's Shockwave Model Kit Review

Hey, different post than usual, but this is just a PSA for people who may follow or have purchased anything from @/kagebros, or are looking to join any of the zines run by them @/allsparkzines. They have a history (and present) of tracing for profit.

I don’t think this one requires an overlay. It’s a trace of the yolopark bumblebee shockwave model kit promotional image, as a “sketch”.

Which they changed, once people noticed it! Changed most of it. They traced a different promotional image for the gun, which remained largely the same, even in the final piece (right).

Their matching Optimus Prime poster is a trace of the still from a [ Paramount promo video ], 36 seconds in.

There are several other examples that I can’t fit into this post without making it overly long, but if you have purchased or have been gifted anything from them, there is a chance it has been traced.

Regarding tracing as a tool:

Go hogwild! Trace all you want! Tracing is a very useful tool for learning shapes and forms, but like any other tool, it’s only useful if you use it correctly. The ultimate goal of tracing is to understand. It’s training wheels. Just don’t hide and lie about it, because as soon as you do, it becomes plagiarism.

Even within the finished versions of the Shockwave poster, it’s still clear where parts have been traced or copied without understanding. It’s a shame, because transformers as a franchise having so many toys makes it very easy to make references!

Here's an example of how I use them:

Luckily for me, the Cybertron toys and models are more or less exactly the same. I don't own the toys, so I have two images from a [ toy reviewer ] on top. Many angles to help me understand exactly what's happening. Granted, I could just ask my friend who does own the toy for him in the same pose, but tracing over that directly would make it too stiff and it wouldn't mesh with my style.

TL;DR: Kage traces, blindly and without disclosure, for profit.

Recently, Yolopark revealed images of their upcoming AMK series of model kits for Transformers One. Going from top down we have:

Orion Pax/Optimus Prime

Elita-1

D-16/Megatron

Bumblebee

I really love the way these kits look! They look so close to what we see in the actual animation. Now, I know that these being model kits that don't transform is going to be a problem for people for some stupid reason but I know for a fact these look better than what Hasbro already has put out, in the case of Prime and Megatron, and will put out if they get around to Elita-1 and Bumblebee. I'd honestly rather buy these kits over whatever Hasbro puts out and maybe I will.

Sorry I haven’t been posting much, I’ve been busy. But I did get started on that Yolopark Bumblebee movie Shockwave model kit! This is how much progress I’ve made in 1 day, I’m very slow 💔

I’m not sure how consistent it is since I’ve only built a handful of model kits, but this one has been hurting my fingers putting the parts together LOL

Granted, I am a very weak person + some parts weren’t fully attached. I’m very impressed with the diecast and faux metal parts though. His ribcage is looking metal af

Pics of new Yolopark prototypes have been released recently (link leads to tfnews)

Most notably Tarn. I'm so happy more manu's are doing Tarn figures, I hope someday that luxury extends to the rest of the DJD but I can understand why it's only Tarn for now

Also they showed off a prototype of 23cm AMK Series of Shockwave and Soundwave from the Bumblebee movie... I was just thinking of getting the Shockwave model kit from Yolopark because it looks so good, but I also want one of him and Soundwave together.... Maybe it's ok to have 2 Shockwaves from the same movie (that I DGAF about) but one is slightly bigger and more expensive.
